the opening scene to the movie starts, i cuddle closer to matt's side and wrap a leg over his thigh, matt goes tense and i subtly hear his breathing pick up.

"you okay?" i whisper, matt nods.

"matt why don't you talk to me about things, i've known you since we were 12 you can tell me stuff." i sigh,

my mouth falls open, i've always thought matt was cute, i've just pushed it away.

matt looks at me, scanning over my face as he breathes deeply, his eyebrows slanted upwards out of nerves.

"you mean it-" before i can finish my sentence matt cuts me off, "yes- i fucking do." he whines, running a hand through his hair as he sits up.

his laptop slides off his lap, i crawl over and sit on his lap while he props himself up on the headboard.

i grab his chin, making him look up at me as i get comfortable straddling him.

i think MK would mostly feel a sense of loss for the fact that in a way, things should have been like this, like when he “hatched” Wukong probably would have found him if it wasn’t for the fact someone or something brought it to Pigsy shop. He would have grown up with someone who could tell him how to be a stone Monkey and teach him his power. Surely, I think Wukong wouldn’t have been as good as a parent as Pigsy, and MK doesn’t regret a bit how things actually ended up happening, but it’s a bit of a case of “sometimes I imagine how my life would have been if it went this way”

anyways im gonna ramble about her, spoilers below ig

Anxiety's anxiety attack gave me a visceral reaction and literally made me cry because of how similar it was to how i experience anxiety/panic attacks, and i just relate to her so much in general with her planning and obsession to be perfect and in control. i also really appreciate how she wasnt seen as a fully "bad" emotion either, and that sometimes anxiety can be necessary and helpful. i just really enjoy her as a character because when i was younger it was rare to see anxiety/panic attacks in kids movies, and at that time i was dealing regular and debilitating anxiety/panic attacks and severe anxiety in general, like to the point that i was agoraphobic. it made me wish i had this movie when i was a kid to know i wasn't broken, but it makes me happy that kids have this movie now. but yea anxiety is a comfort character now, i will literally MAKE a plushie of her if i get more obsessed with her

The love part is NOT a game. However, he does enjoy watching you try to escape. He thinks of it as a twisted game of cat and mouse. However, he's displeased that you're trying to run. Is he not good enough for you?

Y'all remember that one scene when Jasmine confronts Jafar about Aladdin’s sentence? So imagine that just with (for the story's sake Im calling your love Gary) Gary/ Oc’s name. But he doesn't apologize he just leaves you to yourself no friends to reach out to or anything. You only have him.

But, if you two aren't in a relationship he will (begrudgingly) bite his tongue.

It depends on the day. Some days he's a sweetheart (Those are the good days). But on bad days… he is a literal demon. Don't mess with him on those days. Just cuddle up and pretend like you're not fazed by this and listen to his rant (maybe throw in a little shit-talking the Sultan).

i watched the x-men films for the first time ever here are my thoughts *spoilers obviously* :D

small backstory: i was going to go watch Deadpool & Wolverine however i have seen the previous deadpool movies but i’ve never watch the x-men films at all, my knowledge of that universe is minimal. my coworker suggested i at least watch Logan before watching Deadpool & Wolverine so i did.

Logan is easily one of the best Marvel films i have ever watched in my life, like top 3 films for sure it was amazing im still thinking about this movie weeks later. so i watch Deadpool & Wolverine and realize im low key obsessed with logan so might as well watch all the x-men films ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

ALSO I HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE FROM THE COMICS DONT COME FOR ME

The Original Trilogy

Overall i enjoyed the first two films, i think The Last Stand might be my least favorite of the whole franchise im not gonna lie

i’m just gonna say it, i was so not here for the Logan & Jean romance, like im kind of a hater so if this upsets you than this post is not for you lmao

ADORED JEANSCOTT WITH MY HEART AND SOUL !!! THEYRE SO FUCKING CUTE !!!!

Right of the bat, Logan & Jean’s romance felt SO forced. like it wasn’t believable for me, in the first movie it felt like Logan decided he was in love with Jean, not that he is actively falling in love with her, it was kinda weird

Meanwhile you can like clearly tell that Scott & Jean are in love with each other, but it feels like Logan’s character is just disregarding that

I understand in the comics it’s supposed to be a love triangle of sorts, i just think that if they wanted to do that for the films they could have portrayed it better

The Wolverine was a decent film, if ur looking for an x-men film that’s more action centric than mutant centric this is your film

this girl is never going to see logan again so at least she got what she could

it goes without saying that Logan 2017 is the best film in the whole x-men/fox franchise

Logan’s dedication to taking care of Charles warms my heart in a way you cannot imagine, he truly cares so deeply for that man, charles gave him the opportunity of having a new family and i feel like logan will always be grateful for him

it was like watching Logan go from only caring about kids in a “i’m a teacher” way to seeing Laura in a “i’m her caretaker now” kind of way, like there was a shift in his character that he wasn’t expecting

my favorite scene of the whole film was when Logan realizes that it was his clone self that stabbed Charles, and his immediate gut reaction was to say “It wasn’t me” and to reassure Charles that Logan would NEVER do that

so that Charles would never die thinking one of his closest friends (AND SON FIGURE) would ever betray him like that and kill him

oh boy here go

right off the bat i’m going to say Days of Future Past exceeds all four of these films, so fucking good, my favorite after Logan

but yeah First Class wasn’t like, terrible per say, i just found myself a little bored ngl

absolutely here for eric & charles love story, they’re literally friends to lovers to enemies to still lovers but they’re still enemies i adore it

i liked the character that mystique brought (& jennifer lawrence) but it was just such a jump from the mystique in the first films

also i just think that if eric wants to kill his abuser then he should go for it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ just saying charles it was a lil weird u wanted to stop him

i get the premise, setting up the basis of the x-men, but i just found it a little lacking

DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

amazing 10/10 movie, i genuinely enjoyed every second, actually felt like a superhero movie

great balance of logan not knowing what the fuck is going on vs charles knowing exactly what to do next & logan just going along with it i love it

i’ve heard legends of how amazing quicksilver is in these films and this went beyond my expectations, fantastic character AND amazing showcase of his powers, the writers cooked on this, also makes me want to rewatch wandavision bc i didn’t appreciate his character enough son i’m so sorry

giggling imagining johnny and his gf (you) hiding from each other their… interest (borderline obsession tbh) because they’re both afraid of being judged. so you know, they’d watch these movies that kinda deal with conspiracies or the main character is being targeted by a serial killer and they’re vibrating on their seats, both holding back from exploding in jittered excitement because they wanna be the chill partner, ykyk?

well, one day, johnny forgot to wheel away his whiteboard of conspiracies (currently, he’s trying to prove that pigeons are govt spies) and you come home to see this board with detailed analyses and accounts; dates are underlined with a red marker, while a blue marker was used to write the names of people who have been “silenced” after “exposing” the “truth” about pigeons. it’s lacking a red string that connects one case to another, but that’s only because johnny was using washytape — the designs are, ironically, birds.

johnny’s in the kitchen, preparing dinner, when he remembers what he forgot; he skids to the living room, hoping to salvage a piece of his dignity, only to see you standing in front of the board, your mouth agape.

“i can explain,” he starts, cringing to himself at hearing just how more suspicious that sounded. “i-”

“oh my god, jock,” you say, breathless in your own excitement. “oh. my. god. jock!”

“what?” johnny asks, confusion now triumphing over his mortification because if you’re still using his nickname, then that must mean things are okay, right?

“wait here!” you scream before turning to run to your room. you flung your bag to the carpet where it sags like a sad potato sack. johnny picks it up and hides it in the closet.

he waits like promised, fiddling with his thumbs while shooting looks between where you’ve ran off to and the board. he rereads some anecdotes, his mind running on overdrive, before snapping his head up at hearing the sound of your feet padding back towards him.

you have about three leather-bound notebooks clutched in your embrace, two of which look worn, while the other it still quite crisp. his nose wrinkles in confusion but johnny decides to wait it out, trusting you to take over.

you fall to the carpet, crowding the coffee table, before urging him to sit beside you. johnny does, his legs knocking against each other as he crouches down and shuffles to move closer to you. he watches as you lay out your notebooks, hands gentle as you begin to flip through the pages.

johnny still feels so lost as to what’s going on.

“mo luaidh?” he asks.

you hum in question, still focused on finding a specific page, he guesses.

“what’re you lookin’ for?”

“oh, just- ah! here!” then you’re thrusting your notebook to him.

johnny takes it with care, his eyes flitting through the pages — “to what end is it satirical? what if, amidst the jokes, the government began to use it in actuality? what if they began to capitalize on it? what if we had given them an excuse to hide behind? had we served them a cover on a silver platter? how do we trust that they’re not conniving enough to truly take advantage of this? ‘birds aren’t real’ but to what extent?”

“what-” johnny’s voice peters. “holy shit?”

he whirls to look up at you. “is this-”

“yes!” you say, giggling. “i thought it was just me!”

johnny drops your notebook back on the table to pluck you from where you sat and plop you on his lap. you laugh when he begins to pepper kisses across your face, exaggerated smooching-noises ringing between you two.

Seeing your recent work made me curious as to how you pick your colors? I always feel like mine are too flat.

ok im going to try and figure out how to break down my thinking process

i guess the first question is. what do you want your art to feel like? i dont say "look like" cause sometimes i fall into the trap of obsessing over a painting being one for one PERFECT while "feel like" helps me think about atmosphere

heres a some paintings with a few of the inpso color palletes i wanted them to "feel" like

Heres an example of how i would give myself a jumping off point.

In this homumiko painting i started off by thinking about how i wanted something that feels like a Jules Chéret poster.

Now the next question is. What are the rules to these set of paintings?

the use of pure primary colors, blue tends to be in the bg while yellow and red are the focal point

for this i wanted only the red dress to be the focal point with yellows being a less saturated and blue still being the bg. this means since herlock is the focal point mikotoba has to be muted. but i wanted to tie him and herlock together so made the flower in his hair the same color as the dress

Meanwhile my lastest otacon is a bit more complicated cause now we're dealing with lighting but again,

what are the rules to this set of nature paintings?

shadow areas are bluer

places where light hits the main figure will be an intense yellow

skin will be redder with darker areas being saturated red/brown and areas closer to the light source start skewing towards yellow

this is when we start getting into color theory and THAT is a whole nother can of worms. but its extremely helpful when trying to figure out how to add colors that arent in the inspo you picked out or figuring out what the FUCK is happing in pieces like this

those patches of purples in this are just a very specific type of red/orange grey tones matched in a way to make it feel like its blue. IT MAKES ME WANT TO SCREAM

i actually tried to attempt to figure it out while working on my pin up ryuu piece......

I tend to stick to late 1800s/early 1900s art cause thats just my personal preference. so the colors im gonna pick are gonna limited a very specific way (if ur into history its really fun breaking down why certain colors appear in certain time periods and how styles evolved as more paints became readily available. or painting for portraits vs painting for mass printing vs painting for animated movies affects an artists pallete. or maybe u dont give a shit? in that case...ignore this....)

I had Literature homework, asking me to create a haiku, and since my brain is literally just redacted I based it off the cowboy, cuz ofc I did. Now im capitalizing off of it by expanding the idea cuz I’m wired and have freewill

This won’t be in a traditional writing format cuz I’m lazy and literally just following the words that flow in fear of losing track.

PICTURE IT: Sophomore year, a new student is introduced, Samuel Collins, immediately catching, you guessed it, Tank’s attention. Well, honestly Asher, who then pointed him out to them. But of course they respond with a punch to his arm.

Sam was a good student, turned work in time, participated in class, but mostly kept to himself. Except for the times he’d gotten dragged by Asher to join them at their group table.

That’s when Tank really began to interact with him. It’s how they found out he liked vanilla ice cream, or how he owned every color of the same type of flannel, and that his eyes were brown, hazel brown.

They never really paid attention to those types of things, hell they barely knew their friend’s favorite colors, cept for Asher’s, because of his constant fights with Milo over blue gatorade and him saying it was “his brand”.

They never really cared, all until him. Suddenly they were keeping mental notes of the things he liked and didn’t liked, how he preferred podcasts over music, and horror to action movies. They knew it all. But probably their most favorite, is how his golden gaze sparkled in the sun.

It was into the first week of meeting him when they saw them, sun kissed by the star’s rays. Ash had asked (begged) him to join them up their usual spot near the cliff, using David’s dad’s pickup truck, the group had settled into a spot amidst the trees, popping open a few soda cans and snacks as they watched the busy city below them.

The sun was near setting, casting down its rays perfectly on their spot on the cliff. Sam had been laughing, at least it looked like it, with Asher, probably with his shitty jokes. His dark brown locks looked almost golden in the sun, and his eyes, having locked briefly with theirs, and him sending a smile their way. Left them almost still in place.

They shook themselves back to reality, sending a hasty half-smile in return, gulping down the rest of their cherry Dr. Pepper. He had a girlfriend, Alexis they think her name was. It was long distance, but even still. Plus, what would a charming southern boy want with them?

They got home that night, head clouded with all these conflicting thoughts and ‘ugh’ feelings, (their words, not mine) safe to say their were close to get pissed, and what better way to let out those feeling than through poetry (My darlin’s a literary student ok)

A haiku was their chosen format this time, the words seem to flow almost instantly as they sat there.

“Oh those hazel eyes

Shine caramel-like in hue

Look at what you do”

helloow omg ! im so honored you want to know more about my ocs aaahhh!! :D my moot @kovu-bunnbunn also wanted to know more so i figured i could do it now !!

i have a bunch of ocs but I’ll just talk about my main oc ryoko right now !!

her full name is ryoko ‘007’ aizawa. I’ll explain the 007 in a minute !! she’s aizawa’s adoptive daughter.

her parents (her dad more specifically, her mom was more of a bystander) are both from very wealthy families and merged. Her parents had an arranged marriage and after some chatter to get to know each other they’re conversations take a little bit of a turn..and inbetween bonding about their favorite movies oop! A lil comment about how the world would he better off without heroes..oh you think so too ? Well look at that, we have so much in common!! long story short they both decide that the want to create something that will be able to take down all might and the entirety of hero society and it’s restrictions,,and I’m pretty sure you can guess what that something was ! nine months later ryoko is born yipeee…!

during her entire pregnancy ryokos mom went through some quirk experiments (sponsored by doctor garaki 👍) because they knew that with both their quirks alone they wouldn’t be able to create a super weapon. (ryokos dad has an overhaul type quirk, and her mom has a healing sort of quirk) so they did some experiments hoping something would change in the womb, and when she was born the kept on doing experiments until she started manifesting a quirk w no attributes from her either of her parents and manifested a fully different quirk than she was originally meant to have,

since she had those experiments done ryokos body adapted to be able to handle her quirk, but it’s not perfect unfortunately.

heres a simple little chart of how it works ! (BTW I DO NOT DRAW LIKE THIS ANYMORE THIS IS OOOOLLLLDD😭😭😭😭)

her quirk is a lot like neijires as in she uses her own energy and converts it into power ! The amount she uses shows in her hair :3 ryoko tho, unlike neijire can do multiple things from sending blasts, to powering herself up to make parts of her body stronger, to making it hard objects like stepping stones she uses to navigate and weapons like dual swords or chains to restrain ppl !! she can also drain other peoples energy (and from her surroundings, but thats only in 100% mode ! ) because of the fact that her body had been modified, ryoko can carry more energy into herself than regular people which is why she can drain energy without any major drawback to a certain extent ! However, her drawbacks are way more severe, overusing her quirks makes her sleepy and drowsy, it gives her nosebleeds and very worse case scenario if she were to have too little or too much energy she could die :0 !!

(ALSO !! I lil extra tidbit: ryoko is capable of sensing peoples energy’s if she concentrates hard enough, it works better if shes seen them before, but she can sense all the energy in humans in her surroundings or if she has a picture, tho it’s slightly weaker and is limited to one person at a time. This is a form of remote viewing that i gave her bc of my obsession w stranger things i had !!😭)

its a pretty powerful quirk that her parents and other scientists knew they could use well, but unfortunately for them ryoko ended up liking heroes (she was barely educated, so she had no idea that she felt admiration for heroes and especially all might, she was alsovaguely aware that she was taught to do the wrong things, because she’d be forced to use her quirk on robots/ small animals in some cases.)

her parents weren’t supposed to feel any affection towards her so they decide to just give her a code name 007 :D which i realized a little too late was the same as james bond..woops😭

anyways fast forward to the biggg “earthquake” incident, shes rescued by a group of heroes, eraser head included :D unfortunately shes detained in tartarus since her being in a constant state of panick set her quirk off and she couldn’t stay in a regular hospital so ryoko has canonically been to tartarus as a inmate at the age of 4 😭! Oh forgot to mention this, but ryoko got her quirk veryy early due to the experiments done before her birth and after.

since ryoko cant control her quirk an aizawa can cancel them, they’re a pretty good matchup !! Fast forward some more and shes living with him ! he adopts her and lets her go to school, where she meets izu n katsuki and they quickly become friends because. Of COURSE. My main ocxcanon ship is a CHILDHOOD FRIENDS TO LOVERS ONEEE😭😭😭😭will i ever stop. raise your hand if you’ve ever seen that one comin

ANYWAYS as a jamil enthusiast i ask myself that question too 🤠;;

dont know what kinda hypnotizing magic he did on me but it worked bc i was incredibly neutral about jamil when i first saw him and now he lives in my head rent-free

okay in all seriousness i ended up rambling about jamil and why i like him personally and it ended up longer than intended so uh proceed with caution under the cut 🧍

(i had to look up the characters you mentioned,,, i know both of the anime but BARELY know the characters so idk how to compare other than they seem to be the benevolent hero/protagonist type???) (so on that note theyre actual opposites??? of jamil 😭)

okay so for me i personally just find jamil’s character really fascinating (and relatable???)

like his character arc drew me in i think, i legit do not recall 100% how i started liking him bc he was NOT my usual type either

i saw him before book 4 and went “okay” 🤷 and moved on 😭

my usual type is kalim actually (the sunshine type with a depressing reason for being all sunshine-y lmao) but. i did not vibe at first with how kalim looks so i didnt really get attached to him either 🤧 (im absolutely fine with him now tho 😭 ive learned to appreciate him more thanks to other kalim enjoyers)

(and tbf a lot of twst characters i didnt think i would like but here we are)

back to jamil. alright maybe it’s his looks. maybe bc he’s a pretty guy idk. but if that’s the case i wouldve been all over vil bc he’s the definition of beautiful gorgeous guy who doesnt fw with gender norms but im NOT. instead it’s JAMIL.

i think it doesn’t help that aladdin is one of my favorite disney movies too 😭 jafar has that two-faced, manipulative disposition with a side of dramatic, and insane and that’s. actually just jamil.

so maybe i guess what drew me in with jamil is that sense of theatrics, the dramatics ;;; that dichotomy of having that level-headed, intelligent front he puts up but then also having this unhinged, unfiltered side that he shows when he is free to be more himself

i’m a sucker for seemingly calm and collected characters on the outside and then their true self being WAY more different and expressive

(i think this would make more sense if you’ve seen aladdin and if you remember how jafar is like in the movie) (i am also choosing to ignore that ONE scene with jafar and jasmine towards the end iykyk) (and the twst characters shouldnt be considered one-to-one with their disney counterparts anyway but i digress)

also scalding sands event my beloved it might be what actually sold me on him bc things like his little sister reveal and his childhood stories wrecked me

(also also i’m obsessed with his canon dynamic with kalim but that’s another thing altogether)

or maybe it’s not that deep and that i just grew attached for no particular reason 🧍 (and that reasoning in of itself should be completely fine as well if that’s your case! just. like who you like, there really doesnt have to be a reason as long as you enjoy them)

uhhhh in conclusion,,, jamil’s a really complex character tbh i could say so much more about his relatability but i feel like im already exposing myself a lot LMAO and i dont think i can properly articulate with words anyway how deeper his character is beyond my surface level thoughts

twomp week : day 7

NOSTALGIC MEDIA CROSSOVER TIME!!! I have been so looking forward to this prompt. as I first put it on the list I knew that I’d be doing the first one of these, but upon sitting down to draw it I decided to do some more for the fun of it which is why im so late lmao

so, here’s Argos and Mr Plant drawn in my best approximation of the artstyles of shows I grew up on. all of these meant so much to me at one point or another and I still hold so much fondness for them :)

Monster High

I cannot hazard a guess at how many times I watched Monster High growing up. I adored the webseries so much even though the episodes were only, what, two minutes long? and I watched pretty much all those original movies. you will never catch me watching the remakes cause you cannot improve on perfection.

anyway wouldn’t it be fun to see these guys at Monster High? I think Argos would thrive there. Mr Plant would probably murder so many of them for being overly friendly though. I also find the idea of him being Venus’ cousin or something so funny for no real reason.

Winx Club

it is an unfortunate truth that the guys in winx club just did not look as good. the girls all had their stunning fairy designs and each went through so many iterations of their powers and designs as they reached new levels and the specialists were just… the specialists. but i still had to draw Argos and Mr Plant in their style cause I was BESOTTED with this show for so so long.

I was so dedicated to watching this series that I woke up early on school mornings and annoyed my parents into letting me eat my soggy coco pops sitting on the sofa so that I could watch the episodes when they came on the telly. it was definitely worth it <3

X-Men

the abrupt shift from pretty cartoons aimed at preteen girls to X-Men is kinda funny to me but I was also in love with this series too. I’d watch it before bed most nights and I just loved it so much. I wanted to be Jubilee so badly (looking back on it now, as I am currently rewatching the series, uh… girlie was not having the best time but I just wanted to be around the X-Men who I adored and idolised) and had the BIGGEST crushes on Gambit, Storm and Wolverine (in that order). I’ve been saying Spiderman is my favourite superhero for years but I may have to change my mind to Wolverine looking back on things…

but yeah. Argos and Mr Plant. I can see them as mutants. I know the low-hanging fruit for Argos’ abilities is enhanced vision cause of all his eyes but I’m actually thinking he gives people visions or dreams (that can become obsessive) like the dream plant. as for Mr Plant, I am gonna be boring and just say plant-based powers cause it feels right for him.
