Love Me (Bar)Tender | NSFW Flash 🫗
Tumblr media
(GIF cred: me <3)
Y’all see what I did there? With the title? Hehe. Ok, sorry, I’ll leave.
(I know the gif is technically a sad scene, but y’all can’t tell me you aren’t imagining him pressing his forehead against yours like that in the heat of the moment 😩)
Anyways…
Pairings: Vander x Reader
Pronouns: Female Identifying/AFAB!Reader
Rating: NSFW, 18+, MDNI !! You WILL be blocked!!
Word Count: 498
Tags: Riding, Fluffy Smut, Vander being pussywhipped (kinda), Poetic Smut, Vander is smitten by you (as he should be 😉), Tooth Decayingly Sweet Smut
Notes: I guess I’m just on a roll today. Haven’t touched this account in like 5 years and now here I am— Posting 8 things in one day. Go, me!
Tumblr media
(I can see you, minors. Get outta here 🤺🤺. BACK! BACK, I SAY!)
“Fuck— Yeah. Like that, pretty girl.” Vander huffs out. Barely able to breathe, like a fish out of water. With practiced grace, you roll your hips, the fluidity of your movement reminiscent of a seasoned dancer lost in the rhythm, every shift a seamless blend of control and expression.
Vander’s head can no longer bear the weight of how you were making him feel—tilting backward as his neck gives way. It falls against the headboard, the movement slow and weary, a silent surrender to the beckoning of pleasure.
His eyes fall shut, and his breathing becomes erratic—quick, needy, shallow gasps. The only sounds he can manage are strained grunts, desperate groans, and breathless utterances of your name.
Your hips swirl, bearing your weight down on his thighs with your hands. You lean back into them, your movements slow but insistent, each one designed to draw him further into the frenzy—relentless in your pursuit to push him beyond control.
Your own insistent whining mixes with his, a symphonic blend of desperation between the two of you.
His hands are kneading your hips inexorably. Almost as if he’s scared to let go. His nails feel desperate to burrow under your skin with the way he’s clawing at you.
“You’ve got magic in these hips, love,” he says, his voice hushed, as if your motions had cast a spell— urging him to speak.
You can’t speak, your breath ragged and uneven as you picked up the pace, leaving you too consumed by the urgency to form a single word. You needed more. Not just of his words, or the deliciously whiny way he spoke. You were already stretched to the limit, every inch of you aching, yet the hunger within you refused to be sated. You craved more—more of him, as a whole.
If you could, you’d dissolve into him, merging into one single being, where every pulse, every breath, is shared between the two of you—inseparable, bound by desire.
“So good, pretty girl. You’re doing so good. Don’t think I can take much more, love.” He grunts, his eyes fluttering open to find you again, the sight of you cutting through the hazy state of desire he’d been gliding through.
He had been a fool to ever look away—how could he ever let himself look away? You weren’t just beautiful; you were everything a masterpiece could never capture, an intoxicating blend of grace and fire, more captivating than any sculpture or painting, alive and burning with an allure that consumed him whole.
“Fuck.” He grunts, unable to form a single coherent thought, let alone words. Every impulse in him screamed to voice the things he couldn’t hold back, to tell you what was racing through his mind. But your movements—each one more demanding than the last—silenced him, keeping his voice captive, lost in the frenzy of the moment.
“My girl. My pretty girl.” Is all he can muster before you’re both crashing into each others like waves against a cliff.

COME WHEN YOU CALL!!
title has nothing to do with the fic LOL i just like tv girl.
suguru geto x reader, around 1k words, slight gojo slander
Tumblr media
you were bored. you were currently hanging upside down on geto's bed, trying to make out the words on the posters scattered on his wall. geto on the other hand, was laying on his back with one hand in his hoodie, one holding his phone.
he finally decided to speak up on your 4th huff. "baby, i've asked you maybe . . . six times what you want to do."
you used your core to pull yourself up to look at him. "and i told you i don't know! you invited me."
"wrong," he interjects. "if i'm correct, you begged me to let you come over."
"shh!" you threw the build-a-bear the two of you got together. to no surprise, he blocked it before it hit him. moments later you gasp as if you just had the greatest idea ever. you grab the bear next to him and place it in your lap.
"we should play two truths and a lie!" he hums in agreement to your request.
"okay i'll start! let me think..." you glance around the room and play with the arms of the bear as you think of something that might stump him.
"okay i got it!" you clear your throat for dramatic effect. "one, i've gotten lost inside the market for 3 hours," he snickers at this and you warn him to let you finish.
"stop! two, i skipped school for an entire week. three, i've never broken a bone." you lean forward towards him with a grin, "guess."
he brings his hand up to his face to think. sure it was a lot harder than he expected, but he knew you, and he certainly knew when you were lying.
"you've never skipped school for an entire week."
your jaw drops before turning into a grin again. "you cheated. i thought i was a good liar!"
"hate to break it to you, but you're not." you pretend to be offended by his words. "at least you're pretty." you're kicking your feet internally. geto will never fail to fluster you with his words.
"okay!! you go."
"alright. one, i hate pineapples. two, i play guitar. three, i can't swim."
you narrow your eyes at him, looking for any signs of a lie. "hmm."
"i'm gonna say you can't play guitar." he laughs at you and takes this as an opportunity to tease you. "babe? you must not know me at all.."
you raise an eyebrow and decided to recall a certain conversation with gojo, prior to you and geto's relationship.
"suguru can actually play guitar?" you asked as you fiddled with the strums.
gojo takes this as an opportunity to sabotage geto. "nah, that's just for show!" he glances over at his best friend who was sitting on a beanbag. "he uses that to impress the girls he'll never get," he leans over to nudge your shoulder.
he sent a cocky glare to geto to which he payed no mind.
"and you believed that idiot?"
you huff and move to sit next to him rather than across. "it seemed believable! and it was the first thing i thought of after hearing your answers."
"never trust a word that blue eyed idiot says."
"lesson learned," you say. "so which one was the lie?" he informs you that the lie was that he can't swim.
you burst out laughing. "really? but you look like you can't swim!"
"hey!" he raises his arms defensively. "just because i don't swim often doesn't mean i can't."
"yeah, yeah." your eyes dart over to the guitar he has sitting by the bookcase. he follows your gaze and lands on the target.
"what? you want me to serenade you or somethin'?" he grins. that actually didn't sound like a bad idea. "maybe." you look at one of the posters near the guitar and asks if he likes the band. he nodded and got up to reach for the guitar.
"ooooh, you gonna play for me loverboy?"
geto smirks as he picks up the guitar, "maybe i will, if you act right." you pretend to zip your lips and throw away the key.
you watch as his fingers glide and strum against the guitar, creating a tune that fills the room. his expression is one of concentration, which you admired with an adoring gaze.
you smile at him as he finishes and puts the guitar down and joins you back on the bed.
"sugu, i can't believe you didn't tell me!"
"thought you would've put two and two together after seeing the guitar in my room."
"i told you, gojo lied to me!" you scoff.
"yikes! horrible liar and horrible at detecting lies."
you huff and decide to lay down in a way to where you aren't facing him.
YOU
bitch ur a liar
GOJO
whaaatt? ^^
YOU
about sugurus guitar being "for show"
im like so pissed off at you im heavily embarrassed. i look like a shit s/o!!!
GOJO
LOL! my bad :P
you were about to respond when the sound of getos voice went to your ears. he seemed much closer than before. "you're not a shit partner"
"oh my god what the fuck!" you laugh. "when did you get behind me?"
"like, 10 seconds ago."
"nosy." you glare playfully.
he wrapped his arms around your waist and continued to watch whatever you did on your phone. at one point, you'd gotten sidetracked and picked up his hand to play with his fingers and the rings that were on them.
maybe you should've thanked gojo instead of cussing him out. you could give him credit for noticing how nice your boyfriends hands were, you suppose.

Meeting Abby -
(Extension of Carousel - prequel)
Summary: What Mike didn't know was the two of you had already met, and Abby wholeheartedly approved.
Word count: 2.3k
Tags: pre-established relationship, fluff, dates

◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇
This was your 3rd date since the carousel meeting. Mike was still well Mike, the more quiet, nonchalant, and tired type.
Mike really was interested in you but his mannerisms did leave you questioning if he did or of he was trying to get a quick fuck.
The two of you sat at the diner, it was 1 in the morning. It was an odd ass hour to have a date but Mike said it was because of his work hours. Though there was a tinge of fear that maybe you were a side chick or he was trying to land some action.
You were wide awake, you had a nap after class so the sleep wasn't creeping on you but it was slowly on Mike.
Every so often he would nod off and blink himself awake, hoping you wouldn't know; you did.
"Do you want to schedule this for another time?"
He furrowed his eyebrows and shook his head 'no.'
"You look tired Mike."
He liked it when you said his name, and showed concern.
"S fine. I have a semi-normal shift tomorrow."
"Then you should be sleeping then. I don't mind waiting. "
Mike didn't want to say so he shrugged instead. "S fine," he repeated.
You gave a sigh but nodded. You noticed the book by. "What's the title?" You asked, cutting the country fried steak to eat.
"Oh um it's called dream theory. It's … hmm.. it's about how every single thing we see is stored in our brain in like this deep vault and dreaming subconsciously unlock those tiny details."
"Hmm. I think I've something similar to the whole we remember everything subconsciously but I never really looked into it. Though I guess it could explain my art."
"Your art?"
"Yeah about half my paintings are landscapes, but I don't really remember any of those places when I was too small. Like um when we went to see snow the 3rd time around when I was a little older and able to grasp some things, I remember I dreamt this oasis of cold in the redwood forest, a tree had fallen down and was mostly covered but some red was showing. Anyway, I dreamt it but don't remember the actual day, just that one scene and when I painted it my mom was shocked I even remembered that specific place. I was still small, she even showed me pictures."
"What made it stick out that you mom knew it was the place you guys went too?"
"Oh um hehe yeah, there was this small grave with flowers on it. It was in the painting as well."
"How old were you?"
"Maybe anywhere from 3 to 5."
"And you remember that detail."
"I'm assuming so, the picture my mom showed was when I was like 1 but we revisited again about that age range. There were no pictures at that spot again because of the grave. We recently started going again and I leave flowers."
"That's nice, I mean to leave flowers for someone you don't really know."
"Yeah, I guess. It was such a lonely place for a grave though so I guess maybe that's why I leave flowers, so they're spirits can know someone else enjoys that spot too. They must have really loved it to be buried there."
"You believe in spirits and the afterlife and all that?"
You hesitated, "I don't know. Do you?"
"Maybe," was his short reply. The conversation came to a stop as the two of you ate quietly.
Glancing at the time, you say it was 1:30 a.m. now.
You quickly finish as Mike finishes his. "Come on l, get up." You leave $25 on the table for the food and tip. Mike protests but still allows himself to get dragged away.
The moon is full, and the asphalt is wet from the earlier rain. You jump on the bed of the small beat pick up truck, patting the seat next to you. Mike took the offer and sat next to you.
With the dead of night and few lights, the two of you stargaze. Mike listens as you ramble on and on about the constellations, giving a nodded and humm of acknowledgment to show he's following along.
He looked at you. As you talked and talked, he loved how your hair frames your face, or how he noticed you fret about your mascara even now and then especially if you laughed a little too hard you'd cry a bit, he liked how passionate you got, and he really liked how kind you were.
While he would get praised for taking care of his sister from strangers, for being kind and self-less. He still felt selfish in a way.
He looked at your headband, shiny black and small. Abby popped into his mind. He knew that after texting for a day he was already too deep to let this be a fling.
It became silent after you were done listing the constellations, now just appreciating the night.
Mike cleared his throat to talk, and you turned your attention to him.
"Would…," he breathed out, "would you want to meet my little sister Abby?"
Your eyes widened in shock. While Mike didn't say much, he said even less about his sister. Another reason why you thought this was maybe just a fling, or trial run before he really got out there.
You opened your mom to speak but nothing came out.
Mike sighed and got up. "It's fine. I gotta go-," "Wait!"
Mike stared as you went up, "I wanna meet her! I do, really. It's just I was shocked since you've never like well talk about her."
Mike stared at you still not really knowing what to say. "Look Mike. What do you want out of this? Before asking if I wanted to meet your sister I was kind of getting the impression this was like a fling. And I'm not really interested in a fling right now."
"Oh."
"Oh?" You questioned.
"Well what made you think this was a fling?"
Mike looked down, not really wanting to look you in the eyes. "I don't know, I just got the feeling you weren't too interested. Mike, well we've only been together for about 3 dat3s. I genuinely can't recall anything you like or dislike or memories you've shared. Even when I text you it feels a bit one-sided."
"Oh."
You hummed as you continued to look at the stars, giving Mike some time to collect his thoughts.
"I'm not really a big talker if you haven't noticed. To be honest, I like to listen to you talk. You have a nice voice."
"Okay."
He gave you a look, "Okay?"
"Okay I can work with that. I just needed to know if it was disinterest or if that's just how you are."
"So it's fine? If I don't speak a lot most of the time."
"I guess we'll find out together, but between you and me I like that whole stoic, "bad boy" look / attitude you have."
Mike laughed and smirked. "Bad boy?"
"Mike every now and then you look like a genuine degenerate."
Mike raised his eyebrow. He closed the distance between the two of you. "Yeah? Isn't that what you like though." He whispered before he gave you a chaste kiss.
You blushed and gave a small laugh. "Yes, yes I do."
You brought out your phone and the time read 2:30 a.m.
"What time do you have work?"
"11 a.m. to 5 p.m."
"Mike!"
He had an amused look on his face, "What?"
"Oh my god! Go home already you have work in less than 12 hours ! You still have to sleep!"
"Don't sleep much to be honest." You huffed air out of your nose.
"Well you should."
Mike grinned, and he put his arm around your waist, pulling you closer. "I like the color green."
You smiled back. "Green? Hmm…"
"Hmmm… what?"
"It fits you."
"Is that a good thing?"
"Yeah of course, green is a very strong but soothing color."
"It is."
The two of you sat in silence before Mike's phone rang. He looked at it and rolled his eyes.
"Hello. Yeah. Yeah, got it. Okay I'm on my way."
He gave a sigh, "Sorry that was my aunt. I asked her to babysit but I guess something came up at her place."
"Oh okay that's fine. Text me when you get home so I know you made home safe."
He gave a tired smile, "Isn't that my line to you?"
"It would be if you weren't running on minimal sleep."
"Fair enough. But text me too okay, in case I forgot while talking to my aunt or you get home first."
You gave a nod and he gave you another chaste kiss. You blushed again, and smiled. He hopped off the truck and waved bye. You waved as he left the parking lot in his beat up car.
You rushed inside your car and towards home, excited to tell your friends everything.
With texts of 'I'm home,' and 'goodnight' s, the two of you feel asleep dreaming of each other.
A week had passed before Mike brought up meeting Abby again. This date was way earlier and on his day off.
"Do you think she'll like me?"
Mike paused. "I'm not sure to be honest. Not ! Not that you're unlikable or anything like that! She's just a timid kid, hell she barely likes me."
"I'm sure she likes you Mike."
"Yeah well you haven't met her," he grumbled.
You gave an amused look but relented. "So she gets out in an hour right?"
Mike nodded.
"Okay and you said she likes art right? To draw and such?"
Mike nodded again. "Okay, perfect. I'll be back here at 3!"
As you started to slide out the booth, Mike stared at you confused. "Wait where are you going?"
"Don't worry I'll be back." You practically dash out the door to your car.
Mike gave a frustrated sigh and got up after paying the bill. 'I guess I'll just have to wait until 3 too then.' He ran a hand through his curly hair and hopped in his car.
Mike parked at the diner, looking back at Abby. "Okay we're gonna meet a friend of mine okay Abs?"
Abby furrowed her brows, "Your girlfriend?"
Mike nodded. Abby stayed silent. He got out of the car as did she. He held her hand as they entered, he spotted you immediately.
You h/c shining from the sun, you were drinking water while reading a book. Lost in your own world Mike cleared his throat. You looked up at him and then down at the little girl.
Abby recognized you as you recognized her. "Hi!”
Before you could get another word in, Abby motioned you forward. You raised an eyebrow towards who gave a shrug reply but you went with her request.
“Don't tell Mike about Mr. Bunny.” She said in a hushed whisper.
You stared at her then at Mike and then at her again. “Okay. Got it. But why?”
Abby looked at Mike, shoved him slightly to get away from their secrets. She cupped her hand, “Because I want to have a secret between us. I like you, you gave my Mr. Bunny when you didn't have to.”
You gave a warm smile, “ Okay deal. Pinky promise, and seal the deal.”
As you pinky crossed and thumbs stamped together, Mike gave you an expectant look.
Abby slid in across from you and Mike sat next to her.
“What?” He rolled his eyes.
“What were you two whispering about?”
“It's a secret!” Shouted Abby.
Mike looked at you again. “Sorry can't see, those are the secret rules and it's backed by a stamped pink promise. You'll never know.” You have a sad look and shrugg. Abby laughed at your expression and Mike shook his head.
“Well I guess it can't be helped.” You and Abby nodded.
You remembered a thought, “Oh yeah!” You rummaged through your bag and got the present for Abby you bought.
“Here you go Abby. It's a sketchbook for your private drawings.”
“Private drawings?” She turned her head to the side.
You smiled at her, “Yeah, drawings for yourself. I have a lot of them that I don't wanna share because they're private and for me.”
“You draw!”
You nodded and hummed. “Can you draw me something?”
“Uh sure. Is it fine if it's in your book?”
She nodded vigorously. “Okay what do you want me to draw?”
She pondered the question. “Oh! A bunny!”
“A bunny? Hmm okay like a realistic bunny or a cartoon?”
“Cartoon.”
“Yeah sure.”
Mike smiled. “Yeah she's been obsessed with bunny's after some girl won one and gave it to her instead.”
You fought off the smile as you drew, and Abby giggled. Mike gave her a questioning look but all Abby did was stick out her tongue, which Mike did back, only for a split second though.
Mike and Abby watched as you sketched out the cartoon bunny, erasing and redoing the line a couple of times. You finished the outline as food came, Mike ate and watched as you stuck your tongue out slightly finishing up the little details. It had a top hat and a bow.
“Alright Abby, here you go!”
Abby squealed in delight. “Thank you!” She stared are your drawing as she ate, it did resemble Mr. Bunny. Mike noticed that too but thought it was a mere coincidence.
The meal went smoothly, with Abby begging for a shake and Mike giving in. Sitting here, you thought it was nice, maybe something to get accustomed to. In fact, you hoped it was.

TSV Fan Favorite Survey Results
Last week I made a small TSV survey for the heck of it and ended up getting way more results than I originally expected!! Wanted to share the results.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When I'm in a "Who's your favorite TSV main character" competition and my opponent is Carpenter 🤯 (Okay but.. is anyone surprised?)
Fun fact: for a while Hayward had only one or two votes and idk why that surprised me so much. Though I'm shocked he got more than Faulkner overall
Tumblr media
Top 5 minor characters, as voted: Val > Shrue > Sibling Rane > Gage > Sid Wright
Also unsurprising! Though I regret that I didn't word the question as "Pick up to 5" instead of top 5. Val almost got 100% of the votes in this category... off by 4.. I respect you but also who are you 4 I just want to know
Tumblr media
Top 5 side characters, as voted: Acantha > Nana Glass / Greve > Charity / Elgin > The Homesick Corpse > Chuck Harm (though Cross came very close to tying!!)
Acantha at the top is also unsurprising! Though.. looking at the top one.. looks like we all have a thing for old ladies, huh? Definitely my mistake in that I didn't add Em and Vaughn in there to begin with💦 Shoutout to the one person who voted Helen. Also, we love to see that Daggler got 0 votes.
Tumblr media
Favorite God, as voted: Th Cairn Maiden > The Many Below > The Trawlerman > The Watcher in the Wings > The Saint Electric
The Beast that Stalks in the Long Grass and The Last Word each got one vote. Also, The Chitterling got a vote. Henge, the god Hayward mentions in s1, the one that takes things people wish to lose, got two votes! :D Idk why, but it's such an unexpected pull to me, it makes me happy to see it was remembered!
Tumblr media
Top 5 s1 episodes, as voted: Chapter 4 > Chapter 7 & Chapter 15 > Chapter 1 > Chapter 13 > Chapter 3, 8, 11, & 12 (tied with 3 votes)
Fun fact: of season 1 episodes, only 4/15 episodes weren't picked as someone's favorite!!
Tumblr media
Top 5 s2 episodes, as voted: Chapter 24 > Chapter 29 > Chapter 19 > Chapter 17 > Chapter 23
Also not surprised because chapter 24 is also my favorite (probably my most relistened to episode and it still makes me cry). Though, I will say, I was surprised chapter 20 didn't have more votes since that one also seems to be a favorite writing wise!
Fun fact: of all s2 episodes, only 1 episode wasn't picked as someone's favorite! (okay, idk why it's important to me to point out, I just think it's interesting!! Though I can admit I could probably phrase it better. I think the fave episodes are spread out pretty evenly for each season though, which is really neat in my opinion.)
Tumblr media
Top 5 s3 episodes, as voted: Chapter 46 > Chapter 38 > Chapter 37 > Chapter 36 (we are not immune to a good tragic love story, I see) & Chapter 43 > Chapter 44
For a while, Chapter 38 had the most votes which I thought was.. idk how to better phrase it, but.. sweet. Because Carpenter's returning home episode was the fave of s2 and if Faulkner's returning home episode had also been the fave... something something we sure do love these terrible siblings, huh? But! Unsurprisingly the finale is the big fave of the season. How many of us have recovered from it??
Fun fact: Of season 3, only 3 episodes weren't chosen!
Tumblr media
Boooo I shouldn't have given y'all the option to abstain from picking!! "Don't make me choose," you cowards!! /lh
Tumblr media Tumblr media
mandatory link to this recommendation
Favorite episode title:
Hi. So, um. I'm an idiot. And didn't realize that Google Form automatically turns short answers into a bar graph. So unfortunately, the results for this one is..well
Tumblr media
And half of these are the exact same title with slightly different phrasing 🙃
BUT I'm nothing if not determined so I went through and organized everything though I didn't make a pie chart. Needless to say. I think we all know the favorite episode title (care to make a guess?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Favorite episode title: But We'll Never Be Rid of Each Other (25%)
Its Wrath Shall Scald the Sun came second with only 9% of the vote. We sure do love our doomed siblings, huh?

Omg 💒💒💒
💒 - the Fake Married Fic
Titled: "All They Keep Asking Me (Is If I'm Gonna Be Your Bride)"
or alternatively called:  3 times Eddie let people believe he and Buck were married, + 1 time Buck found out, + 1 time Buck cleared the air + 1 time it wasn’t a lie.
----------
The two of them made their way down to the field in a painfully awkward stilted silence. As they reached the bottom of the field, they both waved at Christopher who was standing in line. As the court was marched out onto the field, Eddie glanced over at Buck who was standing still- jaw clenched.
“Eddie,” he said softly. “Why did Mr. Willis call me your husband?”
“I- uh,” Eddie stammered over the lump in his throat. “I might have told him we were married.”
Buck stayed silent, still staring directly forward as Eddie watched him. The voice of Chris’s principal boomed over the field. He turned his attention towards his son, taking his phone out to record the moment. It wasn’t long until the Homecoming princes and princesses of both 6ht and 7th grades had been announced, and it was Chris’s turn for the 8th grade court. Eddie felt his stomach churning- both in anticipation for his son, and in fried nerves for his best friend standing next to him.
The tension eased a little bit when Chris’s name was called as homecoming king, both Buck and Eddie cheering him on as he gleefully accepted the sash, crown, and boutonniere from one of the teachers. He turned to face them, waving at them with the widest grin on his face.
One of the moms from Chris’s class leaned over to them. “He looks so handsome. You two must be so proud!”
Eddie couldn’t bring himself to reply, Buck swooping in immediately.
“We are,” Buck smiled widely. “Very, very proud.”
“You two did good with him,” she continued, almost rubbing salt in the wound she didn’t know was there. “My husband and I are always hearing stories from Molly about how funny and nice Christopher is… especially when other boys their age can be so cruel.”
“Well, we didn’t want him to be a heartbreaker,” Buck told her. “There’s nothing worse than someone you can’t fully trust, so I’m glad to hear that Christopher is living the way we’ve tried hard to raise him.”
It feels pointed- like every word drives another knife into Eddie’s heart. He should have known this would hurt Buck- that Buck would get weird and freak out. It’s exactly why Eddie hadn’t wanted to tell him. He knew Buck didn’t feel the same, and wouldn’t want to mess up their friendship like this.
Molly’s mom walked away, leaving the two of them alone. Eddie turned to face Buck, opening his mouth to speak before Buck cut him off preemptively.
“Did you do it to pick on me?” he asked.
“What?” Eddie’s brows furrowed.
“I mean- someone had to have told you,” Buck scoffed. “Was it Hen? Chimney? God, I knew telling him was a bad idea. I just guess I never thought you would play a nasty prank on me about it if you found out.”
“Buck, what are you…” Eddie’s voice came out broken.
“Save it, Eddie, I can’t-” Buck sighed. “I can’t talk to you right now, I- just… I can’t.”

"Your hand looks heavy, can I hold it for you?”
You almost choked on your drink when you heard that. When your cough had eased enough for you to be able to speak, you managed to get out a strained “What?” before you launched into another fit, though this time it was a laugh.
“Have you calmed down now?” Changbin grumbled after having to listen to your laugh for another few minutes. If you were to ask him, he would swear the last two minutes were only pretended, because no human could possibly laugh for that long.
“I’m sorryyy Binnie,” you said, wiping imaginary tears from your face. However, upon seeing his unpleasant expression, you straightened your back and stopped the charade. "Yeah, I’m done. Sorry,” you muttered, this time truly meaning it. You didn’t think he took it that seriously, but apparently he did after all, which made you feel genuinely sorry. Sometimes you would simply take your jokes too far without realizing it. “It’s just… since when do you use pick-up lines?”
In the years of knowing Seo Changbin, you had never heard him say a single pick-up line. Sure, Changbin never passed up an opportunity to shamelessly flirt with just about anyone, but he never resorted to something so “primitive” (as he himself once said) like pick-up lines. That was more up Bang Chan’s alley.
“I don’t know,” he shrugged. “Chan-hyung swears it works. He said the fans go crazy whenever he uses one.” He gave you a curious look. “You’re our fan too. Why didn’t it work?” he pouted, crossing his arms over his chest. Despite the situation you found yourself in, the sight of him sitting like that opposite you was just so adorable. Of course, you would never admit it to him, but the thought was still there, making you smirk before you caught yourself.
You opted for standing up from the couch and going to refill your glass, not wanting your face to betray you, given the fact that Changbin was taking this situation seriously, at least to a certain degree.
“My dear Changbin, you’re forgetting one very small but also very important detail,” you called from the kitchen. While waiting for a response, you opened the fridge to take out a bottle of juice.
“What, that I’m not Chan-hyung?”
“No! Well… I mean yes, but that’s not my point,” you yelled back and put the juice back. Walking out of the kitchen, you stopped at the door and leaned your side on the doorframe, with a clear view of Changbin still pouting in the other room. He didn’t exactly look like he had figured it out yet, so it was up to you to give him the hint. “Do you know what the difference is between me and a regular STAY?”
He shook his head and looked up at you, waiting for an answer.
“I’ve met your dumb asses.”
With a smile on your lips, you watched Changbin’s reaction. As if it were slow motion, he furrowed his brows in confusion, but then it got replaced by annoyance. “Yah! What do you mean by that?” he shouted, but there was only pretend anger present in the tone of his voice. You got pretty good at guessing when he was joking, and right now you were sure you were both on the same page.
“That any fan who would spend just a day in the presence of any of you would think twice before falling for you,” you answered with an innocent grin and drank from the glass, making it seem like a neutral conversation. Which it was, theoretically. There was no real malice behind your words, you just enjoyed teasing your best friend.
“Or you just have poor taste, because Stray Kids are totally boyfriend goals,” Changbin retorted, raising an eyebrow as if saying “what’s your response to that, huh?”
But you were ready for him. You two bickered so often that your replies were basically autopilot. Without missing a beat, you scoffed. “Sure, keep telling yourself that.” With a victory smirk, you watched Changbin freeze. He was trying to think of some witty reply, but it seemed like you got him there.
“Wait a minute, doesn’t Jeongin have that friend from school who is also a STAY?” Changbin asked after a moment of silence. You just looked at him, head tilted to the side and confusion written all over your face. “Let’s call them and settle this once and for all,” he explained, already standing up and going to his room for his phone.

the FANFIC DIRECTOR'S COMMENTARY: no mystery left
(because this is the one i was thinking about. bc reddit.)
OK, no idea how to do these things. Part of me is really tempted to pretend this is an actual director's commentary, you know, make a fake script, like here I am in a booth and we're doing a little watch along together. Right: Hi, I'm Helen. (We're doing the RP, ya'll)
So this was the first story I wrote for House. I think I did it in about two hours; most of it in one burst and then finishing it up. I have the bad habit of doing editing after posting, I'll just sit and re-read it until I spot errors or wording issues.
no mystery left alpacas
I kind of regret the title of this fanfic. It's called after a lyric from Portions for Foxes, which is kind of just my general Chase Soundtrack Song, which is why I chose it — except I kind of feel like I could have used it on something else, or picked something more fitting. But I don't hate the title either. I can never think of proper titles, I'm always stealing from songs. I've been trying to use as many Portions for Foxes lyrics as possible in my House fanfics.
"Who," House says grandly as Cuddy approaches, "ever heard of a diagnostics fellowship?" He's sitting in the hall by the elevators, ready to pounce. "Who ever heard of a diagnostics department?" she retorts distractedly. She slows. "You're hiring a fellow. Maybe even two, if you can find that many people who can stand you. This is a teaching hospital." House doesn't retort. She looks at him suspiciously and he twists his expression as if to suggest he has no idea what she's suspicious about. "Hire a fellow," she repeats. "That Treiber kid -"
This is a continuity error!! House actually did have fellows before Chase. This exchange really bothers me, but I've let it stand. I guess my excuse is that neither House or Cuddy say Chase will be your first fellow; House is just at a moment where he doesn't have any (also a continuity error, btw, Chase mentions meeting one in All In).
I… hadn't actually completed my watch of the show when I started this fanfic, which is where the error crept in. You'd think referencing S8-only Trier would imply I'd at least watched most of it, but no. I skipped ahead. I watched it coz the summary implied Chase Backstory.
He watches as she tries to enter before the doors close. A blond kid sticks out his arm to block them, flashes a thousand perfectly white teeth at her when she says thanks. Interesting.
I never have House refer to Chase by name in the story. This is meant to be the first time House sees (or hears of) him, and what he sees is Chase on a Charm Offensive towards Cuddy. Enough to pique his curiosity.
"I don't trust nurses." House keeps staring over Wilson's shoulder. The papers are too far away to read, but he can just make out the logo on the cover sheet. "Who does immigration paperwork in a hospital?" he asks.
This is still meant to be an accidental run-in. This is also shoddy immigration law, although I reference it in another fanfic too: as much as I like the idea Chase leveraged a 3 month holiday visa into a work visa, I'm pretty sure there is no way the department of immigration would let him. But I like how careless and sort of arrogant it seems. (very Rich Kid) Chase just assumes it'll all work out for him.
House flips a page in the rheumatology textbook he's examining. Trier tries not to fidget. "Classic power play," he blurts. "Read a book to show how little you care." House glances up.
Now House is actively researching Chase, probably because he also knows he's playing it fast and loose with his visa, and by implication is trying real hard to get a job by sucking up to Cuddy. I wish we'd had Trier more. I love everything about him. I love the idea that Chase just has a Nemesis in pathology. Like that one episode where he has to biopsy a dead baby? So funny if you imagine Trier is just off-camera and pissed Chase is in his department.
You're Dr. Thomas, aren't you?" the kid asks as the elevator starts to move. "Oh - I'm not a patient, don't worry." He smiles, sticks out his hand. "I'm interviewing for the surgical residency. Dr. Cuddy spoke highly of you. Rob Chase. Fantastic to meet like this - we're due to interview next week?" "Dr. Chase. Of course." Thomas clearly has no idea who the kid is but shakes his hand. The elevator dings. "Nice to meet you," the kid says, oozing charm, as Thomas exits. "Nice trick, Doogie," House says when the doors close. The kid jumps, noticing him for the first time. "Repetitive, though. Do you just hang out around the elevators waiting for your future bosses to climb aboard?"
I went back and forth on how Chase would introduce himself. We know his sister, at least, calls him Robbie, and even though the show itself is pretty consistent on calling him Robert, boy, can we agree that doesn't suit him? In my head, he started using his full name to "sound professional," but before House usually called himself Robbie or Rob. So he's not quite polished yet.
House is making a power play here, obviously. He's figured out Chase's game, and inserting himself into it just to let Chase know he's been caught: Chase is trying to "accidentally" charm his way into being hired. Also, something about him asking if Chase waits for his future bosses on elevators, House being on an elevator…
He turns on the kid, who stops short, uncertain. "Say," House asks, mock innocent. "Is my photo on the website?" The kid recites obediently: "You're Dr. House. Head of diagnostics. Double specialty in -"
Chase did research House, but didn't think he was a useful person to stalk. Trying to imply here that Chase really is being quite cynical and calculating about this — he isn't just targeting the specific folks he needs to hire him, he looked at every possibility and then chose who to seduce.
At House's office, he hesitates until House waves him inside. "The way I see it, Dr. Chase's only son could get a job in any hospital down undah he wanted, no matter how mediocre his grades."
Honestly, biggest argument against Chase being a lazy nepobaby, imo. He seriously could have done this in universe. Instead he moved across the world. This is one of the reasons I am so Interested in this idiot: he's so unambitious but he does wild things like this.
"Surgery and intensive care," he says. He turns to the counter behind him, picks up the resume he'd had Wilson procure. "You must love saving lives." "I do," he says, eyeing the resume and the copy of his father's book House had strategically placed under the manilla folder. "How sweet." "I like them when they're dying," the kid says, leaning forward. "When you have a bleed and ten seconds to find it. When they crash and you don't know why and you have less than a minute to fix the problem." "And that's why you're a perfect candidate for my fellowship?" House mocks. "You tell me. You're courting me, aren't you?" "Sudden attitude shift. Trying to appeal to the nearest authority figure by imitating his grizzled charm?"
I don't love this exchange. I think it's pretty decent banter, it flows nicely, but I do think Chase is too aggressive, even if I handwaved it with him doing in intentionally, trying to match House's energy. House revealing he's been tracking Chase's job hunt, and showing off Rowan's book, proves that he's interested in Chase and has been paying attention. So Chase notices this, and he's trying to imitate House.
I don't think (she says, having written it) that Chase's explanation for his specialties is necessarily true here. Or not the whole truth. He's just trying to say what he thinks House wants to hear. From his perspective, this dude he hasn't seen before just walked up to him and told him "I know everything about you, sit in my office, let's look at your resume." House mentioned Chase's immigration winging-it, that he's hoping to charm his way into a job. So Chase in turn is making his specialty sound sort of reckless and seat of his pants, too.
From House's perspective, he's seen this kid stroll into the hospital and attempt to manipulate
He skims the kid's file again. Looks up at him over the top of the folder, then tosses it down. "Have your dad give me a call." "What?" he blinks. "You want the job, I'd like a character reference." "I have references." "Yeah, but I'm such a fan of daddy. Shouldn't be a problem. Not like you fled England rather than live in his shadow or anything." "Australia." House waits. Finally the kid stands up. He offers his hand to House to shake. He doesn't take it. Rowan Chase calls the next morning.
This is the reason both the story and this commentary exists. It's a power play. House wants Chase to demean himself and do something he doesn't want to in order to prove he wants the job. Chase, meanwhile, realizes that House is pursuing him. So the real question is "will you do something you don't want to do because I asked you?" House has seen Chase is manipulative, and observant, but is he willing to do this?
Chase, meanwhile, knows House is interested in him and pursuing him. He doesn't know how much House has been tracking him, but clearly House wants him. This is enough to get Chase, naturally, to abandon his other plans to charm his way into a job: he might be able to get Thomas to hire him, but House is taking the initiative and showing an interest, which makes him way more valuable. (ie: daddy issues. It's always daddy issues.)
"I want to hire Bobby," House says, cornering Cuddy Friday morning.
[…]
"One's black and the other has milk and sugar. Did - did my father --" He blinks, losing his confidence. House takes the black coffee. Chase throws the other cup in the trash.
House calls him Bobby to mock him, obviously, but it's not until the last paragraph of the story the narration (and so, House) thinks of Chase by name. Now that Chase is in Diagnostics, he Exists.
Further useless headcanon director's notes:
I think Chase introduced himself as Robbie exactly once in New Jersey, and House heard, and it was also the last time he ever used that name.
For some reason, I feel like Chase drinks coffee black with sugar. So neither of those cups were ever going to be from him. He's blatantly sucking up here.
Finally, in an earlier scene:
"Do you even have an interview with Thomas, or were you planning on kissing his ass until you got one?" "I'll have it by the end of the week," the kid says defiantly. House smirks.
And in the last scene:
He passes her the manila folder. Cuddy skims it and looks disapproving. "Dr. Chase is the new surgical resident. Dr. Thomas specifically asked --"
I just liked this bit. Chase did end up getting the other job, he just picked the boss who wanted him over the one who didn't. From Dr. Thomas's brief appearance in S6, he seems to have Issues with Chase and Chase as an extension of House. I think it makes sense on its own, but it makes more sense with this context. He offers the kid a job, the kid rejects the job, four years later Cuddy makes Thomas hire him again, and Chase still pays more attention to House?? Lowkey Chase has as many enemies in the hospital as House and I think that's great.

five times + rain (for whatever ship you think of first)
Title: 7 times rain. Prompt: 5 times + rain. sent by rhi <3 Who: A Bunch of OCS and the Hargr/eeves Siblings. Fandom: The Umb/rella Ac/ademy Notes: A mixed bag of friendships, enemies, and lovers in the rain. Words: 1, 580 words. oof. Also I do not own 'Unwritten', Sid's just quoting it. I wrote this for fun and there are probably some inaccuracies since I haven't touched this fandom in a while. BUT I wanted to write it.
1.
The Moon.
One of Ophelia's favorite topics is the Moon. So the fact that Luther's been there, and lived there once before, has her asking him questions about The Moon whenever she gets the chance.
"Does it rain on the moon, Luther?" she asks him, as they walk through the city, him holding an umbrella over her head while he gets wet since the umbrella can't cover them both due to his height.
"No, it doesn't rain on the moon. I don't think the atmosphere's right," he responds to her, picking her up slightly and then putting her down so she avoids stepping in a puddle of water.
"Ah, alright then…that makes sense. I've never seen photos of it raining on the moon. But I had to ask because it's raining here on Earth, now." She smiles up at him, amused by the fact that he's drenched from the rainwater just so she can stay dry. "Thank you for answering my silly little questions." She gently uses her fist to playfully punch him on his side and then smiles.
2.
The rain makes it hard for Carmen to see her next target. While she knows that they'll be a simple target, and they'll be a lot of fun to take down, she hates the fact that it's raining. It bothers her to be all wet. She, like a cat, hates to be inconvenienced by wet clothes and clouded vision and wishes it would rain on any day except for today.
She wishes even less that her target hadn't caught the eye of someone else — the eye of one Diego Hargreeves.
"Oh, Gods — not you, Number Two," she groans, refusing to call him by his name and instead calling him by the name she had heard his father call him as a child, just because it bothers him. "Can't you ruin someone else's drug bust?" Carmen glares at him through the rain, and he just gives her a proud smirk.
"Wish I could say I had better things to do, but I don't. I feel like you — you do though." He chimes in, making him her problem as she looks down at her target and not him.
She then runs off to her target, Diego following after her in the rain, her hair clinging to her skin. She's about to tell him to fuck off, but without thinking, she tackles him. In turn, that pushes down her target with him, and both he and the target slide due to the water.
Wow, she doesn't hate the rain after all.
3.
Johnny doesn't like that Allison has to occasionally Rumor her way into things to get what she wants. He doesn't question whether she's Rumored him, because he trusts her, but he thinks she deserves the world. The fact that she has to get it with a superpower is ridiculous to him. She should just get things. Or at least, that's how he sees it. He's a man in love though. A man in awe.
Her brother Klaus says he's Vagmatized — whatever the Hell that means — and Johnny thinks that's bullshit. He thinks that he just thinks she shouldn't have to force her way into getting her needs met.
And as it rains outside and they're in bed, he can't help but to tell her, "I don't think it's a big deal — the fact that you Rumor people to get what you want. I think if anyone had your power they'd do the same."
He pushes a piece of her dark hair to the side of her face, and she kisses him lightly. Claire's with Klaus, so as it rains, they have they the whole house to themselves. "It doesn't make it right. I've learned that the hard way," she admits, "And I got you without having to Rumor you. Which says it all."
Johnny smiles and kisses her again. It thunders loud and he laughs. "Well, guess it's not cheesy for me to say that I heard a rumor that we stayed in bed all day, then?" he teases, copying her wording.
Allison rolls her eyes, before running her hand over his face. "Only if you avoid saying that ever again."
4.
Sidney dances in the rain and Klaus dances with her. Her mouth opens, tongue out, to taste the rainwater on her tongue, and the taste is to die for — either that or she's just excited to Natasha Bedingfield that shit and feel the rain on her skin. She's having a blast with Klaus and is happy that they're friends. Happy that they can have fun together.
"This is great you, know?" Sidney says with a smile. "So great that if the world ended right now, I wouldn't complain."
Klaus winces like she's just said something that could happen. "The world's always ending. There's a new apocalypse every week. May as well enjoy the rain on your skin, cause no one else can feel it for you and only you can let it in."
Sidney pauses and Klaus pauses. They both stare at each other through a rain-soaked vision. Then they laugh at him quoting Natasha.
"That's bullshit," Sidney says.
"Feel the rain on your skin," Klaus responds.
Sid laughs harder and kisses him.
5.
Marta watches Five as he sits cross-legged on top of a table, clearly disobeying etiquette rules and making her feel normal about how she acts while in front of other people. From the serious, vengeful look he's giving the coffee Diego has brought him, she can tell he's in his seventies and not his twenties like he appears.
"Why are you looking at the coffee like that?" she asks him, eyebrow rising as she gestures towards it. "Did he do some sort of Hargreeves prank to it? You do know if he poisoned it, you're immune to at least 100 different poisons due to your training, right?" She's teasing, clearly.
He gets that, because he looks a little less serious, even though he still appears angry with the cup of coffee. "I'm afraid it's not the type of poisoning I can be immune to." He says matter-of-factly. "Taste it."
He picks it up and hands it to her. She takes it fast and takes a sip. "It tastes fine to me," she replies.
"That's the problem. I don't take my coffee with cream ooor sugar and you do. It's what the kids call 'trash'. "
The sound of rain can be heard from where they are in the kitchen and as Marta thinks of what to say she can hear it. "I see. Well, I can drink it, since it's not a prank. And, then, I can make you another cup that tastes like it packs a punch?"
He nods firmly. "Good idea." He then stops to glare at where the coffee cup had been. but says nothing. Marta rolls her eyes. [7:32 PM]
Leyla does not have super powers but she is psychic. She's always been psychic and has been able to see ghosts since she was a little girl. Usually, the ghosts are a bunch of needy a-holes though. So, when she meets Ben through Klaus, she's surprised by how fun and kind he is.
And though, usually, she can't see him away from the Hargreeves residence. Or away from Klaus, she can see him today as she sits in her living room watching a zombie apocalypse film.
"I can't believe you like stuff like this. I expected this sort of thing from Klaus, but you? A sophisticated woman — liking fake blood and gratuitous violence?" Ben teases, making her laugh.
"Hey, I'll have you know that this is a classic. There's nothing wrong with loving a monster movie. At the end of this one, the main zombie had a bad headache and that's why it was going so insane. It — or rather, they — never wanted to hurt anyone in the first place." She throws a popcorn kernel that goes right through him, reminding her that he's a ghost and almost making her go 'oh'.
"Do you always watch movies like this when it's raining?" he asks, sincerely, leaning forward to hear her answer and snapping her out of her realization.
"I watch movies like this all the time." She nods firmly, then says. "But on rainy days, I watch more than one." [7:32 PM]
Bianca has kept things casual with Viktor. She loves him though. She just isn't stupid enough to tell him that. She knows telling him that will ruin a good thing, and she can't do that because they're both happy with each other because they're both free to do as they please.
The only difference is, as it rains today — the pitter-patter of the rain against Bianca's roof echoing through the room — she can feel the energy shift as Viktor walks through the room in a button-up shirt and boxer briefs.
"Do you want to try something…serious?" he asks, coolly, his hands in his pockets as he looks at her.
Bianca's quiet for a moment, but then she thinks about how her life's changed since Viktor's moved to town. And how happy she's become. So, she can't help but answer with a simple, "Yeah, yeah — I'd like that. I don't see why not."
Viktor gets his cup of coffee and then passes it to her. Right before he grabs his own and drinks from his glass.
They both smile at each other knowingly. Then, after they go and spend the rainy day in bed.

🗺️My Fingers In Creases Of Distant Dark Places
Pairing: Hanzo Hasashi/Kuai Liang Length: 1245 Words Rating: Teen Warnings: University AU, Fantasy AU, Magic School, Student!Hanzo Hasashi, Elemental!Hanzo Hasashi, Student Librarian!Kuai Liang, Qilin!Kuai Liang, Libraries, Studying, First Meetings, Kuai Liang and Bi-Han are half brothers AU-Gust 2024 Day 3: Dark Academia
AU-Gust 2024 Masterlist
Notes: I have no idea if I did dark academia right, but well… I tried so *shurg* Kuai Liang as a Qilin is a concept I’ve thought about before (and drawn a lot tbh) but never written about so :D Title is from Set Fire To The Third Bar by Snow Patrol
Tumblr media
Hanzo huffed at the book in his hands. In the dim lights of the library, he was just about able to make out the information he needed. He hated studying, and if it were up to him he’d never do it again. But he’d made a promise many years ago to his mother that he’d go to this specific university and get a degree. She may have lost her life years ago, but Hanzo still remembered that promise, and knew he had to honour it.
… I still hate studying though.
He squinted at the book, trying to write down notes as he read. Fire magic is strong to ice and nature magic, but is weak to water, air however feeds it and makes it stronger, while it’s neutral towards light, dark and earth. This was pretty basic information, the sort you learnt when you first started studying elemental magics. Still, he wanted to go back over the basics so he could understand the more complex theory later on.
When he’d chosen to major in elemental magic, he figured he’d ace it, on grounds of himself being a fire elemental. And well, he did ace it, the practical parts of it that was. He was top in his class for control and mastery of his magic.
But theory? God, he didn’t realise there was more to that than just weaknesses and strengths. There were entire books about the history of each element, about techniques and how they were developed, about notable users, ways they were used and battles won using such magic. It was enough to give him a fucking headache if he was being honest.
He could pass all the practical classes, but if he couldn’t get the theory down he was fucked.
I won’t fail. I refuse. I need to make Okaasan proud.
“Excuse me.”
Hanzo jumped at the voice. It was so late in the night he’d forgotten he was in the Universities public library and not his own room. He looked up to be met with a young man looking at him. He wasn’t a human though, he had a branch like horn on his head, pointed ears, scales in various spots of his body breaking up human-like skin, and a long scaled tail with a fluffy mane running along it. If Hanzo had to guess, the man was a Qilin. Other than that, he had a large scar running down one side of his face, he was wearing a cheongsam and had a pair of glasses on.
As Hanzo’s eyes flicked down, he could see a lanyard around his neck, with an ID badge that read “Student Librarian; Song Kuai Liang”.
“Sorry to disturb you, but are you finished with any of these?” He gestured towards the piles of books on the table. “Just if I can put some away for you, I’d like to be able to do so.”
“Oh. Uh. Those are the one’s I’m done with.” He pointed to the pile of books he had finished reading. Wait, those were the ones I’ve read, right? He stared at them. “Ye- yes. Yes, those are the ones I’m done with.”
His eyes flicked between his piles. His done pile consisted of two books. He still had about 7 he still needed to read. He’d been here for like 2 hours and it was almost midnight already.
“Aw fuck,” he groaned throwing his head into his hands. “I’m never going to get out of here.”
Kuai Liang chuckled, and Hanzo lifted his head up in time to see Kuai pick up the two books. “I guess studying isn’t your thing, hm?”
“Not really,” He huffed, staring down at his notes. “I didn’t expect there to be so much writing in this major to be honest.”
Kuai’s ears twitched slightly and he tilted his head at one of the books in his hand. “Ah, you’re studying elemental magic?” Hanzo nodded and watched as Kuai opened the book and started to leaf through it. “My brother’s studying that. I wonder if you share your classes with him?”
Hanzo paused at that, because now that he thought about it, he did have a classmate with the surname “Song”. But he wasn’t sure he believed that person was related to Kuai Liang. Mostly because as far as he was aware, they were fully human, and not half qilin. Still, it was the only person in his class he could think of.
“His names not Bi-Han is it?” He asked, and when he saw Kuai’s tail wag in excitement, he knew he’d gotten it right. Oh. That’s… pretty fucking cute.
“Yes, that’s him,” Kuai confirmed, but given the slight grin on his face it was clear he knew Hanzo was confused. “We’re half brothers, if you’re wondering. We share a father.”
“Right. Sorry, that should probably have been obvious.” He wasn’t sure why he hadn’t considered that. There was another reason that Bi-Han wouldn’t have been exactly his first guess without the surname being involved. “Me and him don’t exactly get along though.”
“You and about 90% of the world,” Kuai replied with a giggle. “I grew up with him, trust me, I know what an asshole he can be sometimes.”
Hanzo actually laughed at that, “damn, it must be bad if even you’re saying that.”
“He just takes time to get used to people,” Kuai explained, still looking through the book a bit. “But if he does start to become a real bother, feel free to find me, I tend to be able to get him to stand down.”
“I’ll keep that in mind.” He suspected it would never come to that. Or at least he hoped it wouldn’t. Bi-Han was a bit rude and very stubborn, but outside of that it wasn’t like he was a bully or anything. Just a bit of a dick sometimes. Hanzo sighed, looking back at his notes and grimaced. “Sorry, I should probably get on with this.”
“You know…” Kuai said in a long drawn out way. “Sometimes, when I’m studying, I find it useful to have someone to read aloud to. I just find it helps the info go in better, somehow.”
Hanzo had never considered that before, but weirdly it made sense. At this point it was worth a shot. Anything to make studying feel less like pulling teeth. Although, he got the weird suspicion that Kuai Liang was bringing it up for a very specific reason.
“Are you offering?” He jokingly asked, watching as Kuai looked away nervously. He was biting his lip, and a small blush came over his cheeks. More interestingly, the end of his horn was glowing blue. Qilin’s horns glow when they’re embarrassed? It should be illegal to be so adorable! “Just, I figured you’re working right now. I wouldn’t want to take you away from that.”
“Ah, well, I’ve done all of the other work I was supposed to do, which is why I was bothering you about the books.” Ah, so he was trying to find something to do with himself. “Plus you’re the only person here right now. So…”
Hanzo looked Kuai up and down, before smiling and patting the seat next to him. Kuai Liang jumped at the chance, hurriedly coming to sit down next to him as he peered at the book Hanzo was holding.
“Well. I hope you’re ready to learn the history of fire magic, because this is gonna be a long one.”

vi. silly things & sensible people || all my love

Tumblr media
Wanda opened her notes app and started a new note, titling it with the date and began her weekly letter to her pen pal, wanting to update them on her life... or mostly her best friend's life.
You will NEVER guess what’s been happening this semester. Did you guess? Well whatever you guessed is probably wrong… unless you guessed that my best friend just confessed to her crush without TELLING me about it first.
It was absolutely insane, I was getting out of class and on my way to find her and Steve for lunch when I saw a HUGE crowd by Steve’s class and right at the center of it all was Bucky Barnes and the only girl crazy enough to give him a handwritten note in the middle of passing period. I only saw the end of it, but it was… brutal. I’ve known Bucky long enough to know he isn’t the friendliest person out there but even for him… it made me so upset. He didn’t even take her card, can you believe it?
Honestly, this whole time I didn’t realize she actually liked him enough to confess to him. I always thought it was a passing crush, but I guess I was wrong. She was pretty badass for that. But obviously Steve didn’t think so. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him look so dejected. I wonder if he’ll ever work himself up to do the same thing.
OH. But the craziest part is that a week after she confessed to him, she ended up moving into his house. Turns out her dad and Bucky’s dad were college besties. Isn’t that insane? It’s just like this anime Natasha made me watch with her once. We were in tears the whole time but uh, that’s a story for another day. Or a story for never. She swore me to secrecy after that night.
We actually didn’t realize that she had moved in with him until after the big exam we took when Bucky stormed in and she handed him a picture of the two of them asleep together at the dining table.
Then that night, she ended up spraining her ankle and Bucky had to take her home so he didn’t get to go to IHOP with us. Sad for him, that was a fun night. Not for Steve… again. By the end of the night he was crying to Sam’s rendition of an ABBA song and chugging down strawberry milkshakes. He’s lactose intolerant and he slept over at my house that night. So… not much fun for me either. I–
“Wanda, get off your damn phone and help us move the couch.” Wanda looked up from her notes app to see Natasha, Tony and Scott waiting for her to grab onto the fourth corner of the loveseat.
“Sorry, sorry,” Wanda apologized before rushing to help them move the couch to the opposite end of the room. “Why are we doing this again?”
Natasha let out a grunt as they dropped the couch ungracefully onto the floor. “Scott thought it would be cool to have a pillow fort.”
“We’re doing this for a pillow fort?” Tony asked in shock. “I thought Scott’s mom just wanted us to redecorate.”
“Tony, why would his mom want both of the couches facing the walls on opposite ends of the room?” Natasha asked with a roll of her eyes. Tony shrugged his shoulders and plopped himself down on the couch.
Natasha dropped down beside him with a sigh. “When is everyone else gonna get here?” she asked.
“Well Steve had to pick up Sam, but he should be here soon.” Wanda looked down at her watch at the time to compare it against the ETA Steve had sent earlier.
Tony checked his phone as he leaned over the back of one couch. “Rhodey just texted. He just parked outside.”
“What about Bucky?” Scott asked.
Natasha shrugged as the doorbell rang and Wanda went to answer it, letting Rhodey in. “Sorry, I had to pick up the kid,” Peter walked into the kitchen with a proud grin as Rhodey rolled his eyes.
“Yeah but we brought food,” Peter exclaimed as he placed a brown paper bag on the kitchen counter.
“You brought your Chipotle,” Rhodey clarified as he walked to the fridge to grab himself a bottle of water.
Scott laughed and shook his head as he took the bag and handed it to Rhodey to stick in the fridge. “Did you guys happen to get Bucky too?”
Rhodey shook his head in response. “I offered him a ride, but he said he had plans.”
“Plans?” Scott echoed. “We are his plans. He’s never missed a board game night.” Wanda could hear the pout in his voice.
“He didn’t give me any details but I think it has to do with his roomie.” Rhodey commented, checking through his text messages to see if he left any details out. “He said he’ll be busy all day.”
“His roomie, huh?” Tony repeated with a raised eyebrow. “Have you guys noticed he’s been weird lately?”
“Yeah,” Natasha replied. “Last week I asked him if he liked her–”
Before Natasha could continue, Tony walked toward the group gathered by the island, eager to join the gossip. “Yes!” He exclaimed. “Bucky always sends these weird memes that no one gets exam days, but last week, we had a literature exam and guess what?”
“What?” Rhodey asked flatly. Natasha nudged him in response, reminding him to be polite.
“He didn’t send anything,” Tony noted. “When I asked him what happened, he told me he was up the night before studying… but Bucky never studies for literature exams because he’s a nerd who already read the books.”
Before anyone could say anything else, the doorbell rang and in came Steve and Sam. “Hey,” Sam greeted. “What did we miss? We bought drinks.”
Wanda looked over at Natasha as Steve walked in, silently begging her not to finish her sentence from earlier around Steve. Natasha gave her a subtle nod as she attempted to shift the attention to the newcomers.
“Where’s the rest?” Natasha asked as Sam set down his drink on the counter while Steve found a spot beside Wanda.
“Oh,” Sam replied. “I meant we stopped over to buy ourselves drinks from Starbucks. That’s why we’re late.”
“Remind me to start being more specific when I tell  you guys to bring things,” Scott replied with a chuckle, shaking his head. “Anyway, what else were you saying, Tony?”
Tony thought for a second, remembering his train of thought. “Right, so I did some more investigating,” he continued. “And when we were getting into groups for our Shakespeare analysis – I swear I’ve never seen him move this fast, not even at a football game – I saw him join his roomie’s group. He even smiled when she waved at him. I’ve never seen him smile at anyone.”
“He’s not exaggerating,” Natasha confirmed with an eager nod of her head. “I didn’t even realize they were friends, but it seems like lately they’ve been besties or something. Isn’t she supposed to be your best friend, Steve?”
Steve put his hands up in defense before speaking, his voice just a little too loud and too high to sound calm and collected. “She can do whatever she wants,” he said.
Although the other boys couldn’t tell, Wanda knew Steve didn’t fully believe the spite in his own words. So coming to her friend’s defense, she joined in. “Yeah, but isn’t Bucky yours?” She asked Natasha, turning the question back to her.
“Chill out,” Natasha shrugged her shoulders. “I was just curious to see if you guys knew anything else.”
“We don’t,” Steve said flatly. “Are we going to play or what?” Natasha and Wanda shared a look, realizing that Steve was feeling a lot more than he was willing to let on, so they accepted his change of subject. The others rushed into the living room as Wanda and Steve stayed behind.
Wanda watched as Steve leaned against the counter, pushing his forehead into his palms as he let out a sigh. Wanda stood beside him facing the opposite way, her elbows leaning against the countertop. Her heart felt heavy at the sight of her distraught best friend.
“Steve,” Wanda began gently but firmly. Steve shook his head, already knowing where this conversation was headed. “Salad. Now.”
Steve let out another sigh, running a hand through his golden hair, and Wanda wasn’t sure if he would answer her, but after a beat, he finally lifted his head. “Lettuce… I’m sad. Chicken… I’m mad. Mostly at myself,” he confessed.
“Why?” Wanda asked quietly.
“For never being brave enough to say anything,” He admitted to Wanda, hanging his head. “It’s just… we have something so good and I didn’t want to lose that. But sometimes…” he trailed off.
“Sometimes what?” Wanda pushed.
“It’s just,” Steve sighed. “Do you remember that time in the eighth grade when the three of us got in that huge fight?”
Wanda let out a dry laugh. “The one where you thought the two of us were dating behind your back because we went to a movie together?”
Steve grew a small but sad smile. “Not just any movie,” he clarified. “You watched The Hunger Games without me. It was my favorite book.”
Wanda nudged him playfully. “Steve, you had the flu,” she reminded him. “We wanted to take you but your mom said if she found out you snuck out and we got the flu from you she would stop making us that sponge cake we like. That would’ve been the end of our 14-year old lives.”
Steve let out a chuckle as he nodded at the memory. “I know,” he continued. “But for a week after that, I felt so left out. Like suddenly you were her best friend and she was yours, and I was the odd one out.”
“Is that why you ghosted us for a whole month?” Wanda asked, eyes wide with surprise as Steve nodded in shame.
“It was dumb, I know,” he cringed at the memories of that time. “But I think I was jealous. Of you.”
Wanda snorted a laugh at his comment. “Of me? Oh buddy,” she laughed as she pat Steve on the shoulder.
“I know, I know,” Steve ran his hand through his hair again. “But anyway, I think that’s kind of how I feel right now. Like she’s everything to me… but I’m not to her. And it’s not like she owes me anything… I think I just keep thinking, what could I have done differently?”
Wanda thought through her next words carefully, letting silence rest between the two of them. Well, silence was relative. The others were in the next room arguing about whether or not it was fair to let Peter choose to be Colonel Mustard when he doesn’t know how to play Clue.
“I can’t say I know what you’re feeling,” Wanda began. “But for me, I think that when I start focusing on things like that, my mind gets stormy. I stop seeing things clearly, and I start doubting myself and the way I fit into my friendships. But then you two always remind me that’s not real. What is real is that I would give everything for the two of you, and if I needed it, both of you would do the same for me. It’s one of the most stable truths of the universe.
At the same time, I also know that both of you would want me to be happy, and to choose what makes me happy. The same thing I would do for you. And I will always help you to figure out what that is when you can’t see it, like you do for me. When I remember that, the skies clear a little, and I see the sunshine again. I see you guys.”
Wanda turned to Steve, who wiped at a tear forming in the corner of his eye. She gave him a gentle pat on the back and turned to leave him to his own thoughts for a bit.
Honestly, she was a bit surprised at her own wisdom. She wasn’t usually the friend people came to for advice, but maybe they should start, she thought. She hoped her words got through to Steve, as seeing her best friend hurting was weighing heavily on her as well. She was, however, very excited to tell her pen pal about this situation.
After she made her way into the living room, Natasha moved to sit beside her on the couch, now turned to face the television. “Is he okay?” she asked, nodding towards the kitchen where Steve still stood by himself.
“Yeah, he’s just raiding the leftovers,” Wanda joked. She was lying, but she felt that Steve wouldn’t want to explain to everyone else what had him so emotional.
Natasha nodded, not fully believing her words, but accepting them nonetheless. “Do you wanna play the next round?” She asked instead.
“Nah,” Wanda pulled out her phone. “I have to work on my letter.”
“Oh to your pen pal right?” Natasha asked. “I can’t believe you’ve been writing to each other since middle school. Why don’t you just ask for his number?” She attempted to look over Wanda’s hands to see what she was writing down.
“Yeah, ask for his number and invite her to the winter formal,” Sam chimed in. “Unless he’s catfishing you.” The group laughed and Wanda laughed along.
“Yeah, yeah,” she rolled her eyes and continued typing in her note from earlier, updating her letter with the most recent events. However she didn’t get very far before she got a call from Bucky. “Bucky’s calling me?” She asked aloud in surprise.
“Answer him!” They all called in unison, as they looked away from the game to flock towards Wanda, even Steve, who walked in from the kitchen. Wanda looked over to him and he responded with a small smile and a nod, encouraging her to answer the phone.
“Wanda,” Bucky’s voice filled the room from Wanda’s phone speaker. “I need your help.” The group gathered around Wanda all looked at her with wide eyes as they tried to contain their curiosity. However it was Scott who couldn’t hide his gasp, even as Sam slapped his hand over his mouth.
“Hey guys,” Bucky sighed. “Sorry I couldn’t make it but I really need to borrow Wanda for a second.”
Wanda chuckled as she watched the group disperse with disappointed looks and resume playing their game. She walked back over to the kitchen, and Steve headed for the living room to give her privacy.
“What’s up Buck?” Wanda asked when she was finally alone.
“Uh,” Bucky sounded like he was thinking about what to say. “How do you feel about a road trip?”
Wanda couldn’t hide her surprise at the question. “Road trip?” She repeated.
“I can give you the details later,” Bucky said. “But just tell me you’ll come with me.”
“When?” Wanda questioned. “And why me?”
“Tonight. Right now even,” He sounded panicked and Wanda was beginning to feel the same. “I called you because Natasha already said no.” As if on cue, Natasha had popped her head into the kitchen and Wanda waved her over.
“Nat,” Wanda began. “Why the hell is Bucky asking me to go on a road trip with him right now?”
Natasha let out a chuckle. “Just hear the poor boy out,” she suggested as Wanda looked at her suspiciously.
“I need to pick up your friend’s dad,” Bucky explained. “Long story short, she was upset he couldn’t make it to the awards, so I reached out to him and basically now he agreed to be here for one night, and his flight is landing soon and the airport is over an hour away and I don’t want to drive alone, but I can’t bring her with me because it’s a surprise and –”
“Woah,” Wanda stopped his rambling with a chuckle. “Long story long, more like.” She looked back at Natasha who raised her eyebrow as if to say See now? Wanda nodded back to her as she let out a hum of thought before an idea popped in her head.
“I’ll come,” Wanda said with a mischievous smile that was hidden by her gentle voice. Bucky let out a sigh of relief, and Wanda could hear his shoulders relax. “But you have to come pick me up from Scott’s house, since I left my car at home.”
“Sure, yeah,” Bucky agreed desperately to her condition. “Thank you so much.”
Twenty minutes later, when the doorbell rang, Wanda almost felt guilty for what she was about to do. But when she thought about it some more, she reminded himself of what she told Bucky just earlier, and her conscience clears just in time for her to open the door to see a panicked Bucky, dressed in sweatpants, a hoodie, and mismatched socks.
Someone will thank me later, she thinks to herself as she pretends to double over in pain. “Wanda?” Bucky asked in concern. “Are you okay?”
“I ate someone’s leftovers,” she pretended to let out a grunt of pain. “And it’s really not agreeing with me,” she cursed under her breath. “I’m so sorry, but I don’t think I can come with you.” She apologized.
“No, no,” Bucky dismissed her. “It’s fine, don’t worry about it.” He walked in and shut the door, leading Wanda to sit down at the dining table as Natasha walked over with a medicine tablet and a glass of water.
“Here,” she handed them to Wanda. “Don’t worry Bucky, we’ll find someone to fill in.” Before Bucky could protest, Natasha had walked to the living room and came back with a confused and annoyed looking Steve.
“Steve said he’d be glad to go with you,” Natasha beamed. He very much did not look like he was glad to go with Bucky.
“Uh…” Steve began before Natasha nudged him from behind. “Yep, yeah, I’d be happy to… sit in a car with you for an hour and a half… to pick up my best friend’s dad…”
Bucky opened his mouth to argue, but after looking down to see the time, his eyes widened in worry. “Okay, perfect,” he said instead. “Let’s go before we’re late. Bye you guys, tell the guys I said hey.” and he grabbed Steve’s wrist and headed out the door.
Wanda and Natasha followed behind them, Wanda now forgetting about her act and leaning against the post on the front steps.
“Do you think they’ll hate us?” Wanda asked Natasha as they watched the two boys get into Bucky’s car from the front porch.
“Oh absolutely. For a month at least.”

i would love to hear about ur Hiro thoughts if u wanna share :3
hiro.... where do i begin...... (btw no coroika stuff sorry. from what ive seen the characterization there does not line up with any of my promo kid brainrot at all LOL. also they turned kayoss into an inkling there lol???)
love him so much you dont even know. i memorized his username (Hirooooo) i think he's cool. i like his inkless office drone title it implies so much about him. projected some of my traits onto him a very long time ago, so he's an autistic trans guy to me. maybe bi. ive mentioned it before but i think he wears his ocho octophones outside of battle and theyre noise cancelling. i think he needs that feature for battles cause oh my goodness there's so many noises in battles sometimes.
of COURSE he uses .96 gal, its iconic as hell. but i think he uses like.. 3 other weapons too. splattershot, mainly because he's been shown with ttek splattershot + he's on the trizooka card (or at least the octoling there has a VERY close resemblance). i think he uses range blaster and dark tetra dualies cause he's been shown with them (the range guess is based on like. 20 pixels from a millisecond of footage though). also i use range and dark tetra..and i thought it was funny
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
also fun little thought i had the other day: i think he avoids .96 gal deco like the plague. was excited to see it get splash wall but freaked out about kraken royale. picked it up just to find out about the kraken part mid-match and got jumpscared by the transformation. enough to shove somewhere and never think about it again
i dont think he has like, a set in stone team or anything (i dont think any of the splat 3 promo kids do, they all play matches with each other n theyre all friends) but he usually teams up with anemoneno1, takotruck, and c4l4m4r. they have the most toxic synergy ever but thats another story. my interpretation of ane is its own thing too. i think they and hiro hate each other in the friend way. say the rudest shit to each other as a joke then laugh about it.
SPEAKING OF HIS RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER PEOPLE. coming out as a hironika lover. i think he loves veronika so much its unreal. kind of boyfail type of way. they share an apartment w/ ane. sometimes i think about a poly thing between them but i like to think ane's just an onlooker to the frustrating chaos that is the two of them pining on each other in the most obvious way possible. theyre so t4t oh my god. (off topic but im a veronika she/they nonbinary believer forever. i think she's also a girl too but i dont know how to explain that. bigender, demigirl?? hard to label wish i could just let people peer into my brain on that.)
ALSO I LOVE NEO 3 VERONIKA BUT HIRO'S THE NEO 3 TO ME SORRY. my url gives this away so fast (hiroshotrepilca.. huh i wonder who hiro is). i think his smallfry friend would have the mohawk haircut. need more neo 3 hiro fanart in my life...
ok thats all i can put into words... a lot of this is going to show up in a thing im writing (I NEED A HIRO. posting it on ao3if anyone cares) but Yeah. sorry for this being sooo long these thoughts have been brewing in my head for like a year

Only answer if you want of course, or pick and choose which ones to talk about, but! I'm very interested to hear about these fics 💜💜💜💜
A Clan of One
First Holy War Whumptober AU
Whumptober - Meliodas & The Boar Hat Regulars
King & Meliodas Whumptober 2022
The Past On My Skin
I usually don't need a lot of encouraging to talk about my fics and wips, so I will talk about these :D Except for the King & Meliodas one, I don't really think I've even mentioned these before. Fun!
First off, Meliodas & The Boar Hat Regulars I talked about in another ask. But as for the others...
A Clan of One
This is one of my remaining Febuwhump fics, but I haven't properly started on it yet (still got a few others to finish first). I do have an idea of what it'll be about though (it's even got a title!). It's for Day 27, and the prompt "Survivor's Guilt". Basically, it's gonna be exploring how Meliodas deals struggles with more or less being the only demon left. While he did choose to betray the demons, they are still his kin, his family even, and now they are gone and he's still here. They're not dead, of course, and one could argue if what he's doing is actually living (with the whole cursed and torment thing going on), but he's got to have a lot of guilt about what happened to the rest of the demons (and for leaving Zel behind to that fate).
Here's a little summary I wrote when I first decided on this idea:
One good thing about the years passing was that people forgot. Millennia later, no one cared to talk about the sealed Demon Clan. To them, they were a thing of the past. To Meliodas, they were an eternity of ghosts in his head.
First Holy War Whumptober AU
Now this is another one of the Whumptober fics I never got around to finishing in time. But I will finish it! I'm actually quite excited to share this one. It's gonna be a 3-chapter fic written for 3 separate Whumptober days/prompts, with the first prompt being "Reluctant Whumper". The other 2 are a secret for now (telling them would be too spoilery). Like my title suggest it's an AU taking place during the First Holy War, the story going off-canon right after Meliodas betrayal. It's focused on our beloved demon brothers, and also features our (here non-literal) queens Elizabeth and Gelda. Oh, and the Demon King, I guess (a proper whumper for this Whumptober fic). That said, since it's Whumptober (and me), there will be plenty of angst going around. Especially for those poor traumatized boys. There are a lot more I could say about this one, but I'm not going to. I feel like the less I say, the better this fic is going to be to read.
However! I will share a little sneak peek. I do have several snippets I wish I could share with you all, but most of them are in the second chapter and (again) that would be too spoilery, so let's go with a (redacted) sneak peek from chapter 1 instead:
Zeldris felt his blood turn to ice as the words repeated themselves in his head. Over and over again. Like an unwanted echo in an empty house. This... This was wrong! This wasn't how it was supposed to go. Meliodas wasn't supposed to [redacted]. He was supposed to [redacted], and Zeldris – Zeldris looked down at his hand; the same hand that had [redacted] just a few moments before – Zeldris didn't know what he was doing anymore. This was all wrong.
King & Meliodas
Ah, yes, the fic with two beginnings (lol). This was technically planned out for Whumptober 2022, but since I ended up not doing Whumptober that year, this fic was never fully written. The prompts I was going to use for this fic were "Protective" and "Stabbed". Since then, I've also written two separate beginning to (what I'm fairly certain is) the same fic. But that's fine, happens to the best of us (right?), and I do think I can combine the beginning without too much struggle (I love them both, plus they're kind of starting at different places).
So the story... This takes place in another undefined timeline; the Sins are all together, fighting side by side, and Meliodas' demon secret has already been revealed. King, like in canon, is struggling with the reveal and what it means in terms of him trusting Meliodas. (I do love making King confront his feelings about Mel being a demon). There is a big fight happening, during which King and Meliodas end up separated from the others. Though not before Meliodas gets badly injured saving King. So that's the plot, I guess, the two of them trying to find their way back to the others, trying not to die, all the while dealing with the elephant in the room (or maybe I should say demon in the room).
Here's two sneak peeks (one for each document lol). First off, Meliodas astounding lack of worry for his own health:
“Huh?” Meliodas almost sounded surprised, as if he hadn’t noticed the blood that was running down his leg. He glanced down at his shirt, pulling it up enough to reveal the angrily red wound, slowly oozing more and more blood. “Oh. Yeah, that’s not good.” “We should find shelter.” “I’m fine.” King didn’t even know how to act around Meliodas anymore. Let alone how he felt. This was not helping. “You almost fell on your face.” “I stumbled. It’s fine.” King felt his annoyance growing, “You’ve been stabbed!”
And then the heart of the issue:
“What the heck kind of question is that?!” Meliodas was sitting up fully now. The levity was completely gone. King had seen him like this before. This was the Meliodas that made no one question who the captain of the Seven Deadly Sins was; gaze sharp, posture serious, status undeniable. Now though, King couldn’t help but wonder where Meliodas had learned to channel that deadly focus so fast and unwavering in the first place. As a Holy Knight in Britannia, or as a trusted soldier in the Demon Real? “Come on,” King countered, the words harder to form than he wanted. There’s no going back now. “You can’t pretend like nothing’s changed.” “Yeah, you’re right,” Meliodas admitted. His brow furrowed as he studied the flames for a moment. Then he met King’s gaze again. The smile on his lips was an empty echo of its usual mirth. “I know you don’t trust me anymore, King.” King struggled to keep eye contact. This wasn’t a secret. They both knew it because King hadn’t tried to hide it. It wasn’t meant to be a secret. Yet hearing it out loud, it felt like a sucker punch.
The Past On My Skin
Ooh. This is a fic that was inspired by a post talking about what if Meliodas had the scars from his deaths, and also by the song "Would Anyone Care" by Citizen Soldier. (Come think of it, I probably started this wip around the time I made that video). Basically, while Meliodas body is healed each time he dies, he also gains a scar (from the "killing blow"). So, in other words, not a happy fic (but there will be comfort eventually, just a lot of hurt too), exploring the darker parts of Meliodas' mind and the mental impact of his curse.
I don't think I have much more to say about this one, so here's a sneak peek:
Maybe he wasn’t completely invincible after all? It had been a nice thought, as long as it had lasted. Though as years turned to centuries, Meliodas was forced to face reality. He was stuck. Frozen. In a way it was pretty fitting. After everything he’d done, he deserved to be stuck in a prison of his own. The scar wasn’t his first and it wouldn’t be his last. The death only one of many. It wasn’t really a conscious thing. Not at first anyway. More like an indifference; recklessness, getting a little too bold during a fight, a little too careless with how he protected the people around him. In the end, what did it matter? He couldn’t really die. And if he started welcoming death and the merciful void of emotions, well, everyone had their breaking point, right? Meliodas had crossed his several Elizabeths ago.

For the fic ask game you just re-blogged?
7. Your favourite ao3 tag. I have a guess about this one.
8. How slow is a slow burn?
36. How do you come up with fic titles? What's the one you're most proud of?
7. Your favourite ao3 tag
Okay, so...favorite tag because I find the tag itself amusing? Technically, my favorite is a freeform tag I made up: "Hoth Turns The Rogues Into Feral Space Raccoons" and I have dreams that it will someday be a common tag (which I think requires 3 separate users to use it and tag wranglers to think it worthy of such a thing, so, you know, I'll keep dreaming), but as far as more common tags go...I mean, for hilarity's sake, I like all the variations of "no beta we die like __________"; I used to use "no beta we die like Palpatine didn't", which, considering at the time I had never used a beta, all that tag meant was "I probably should have let this sit a night and edited it one more time before posting, but I didn't".
Favorite tag that I actually search to find content? I think some combination of "Hurt/Comfort" and "Pre-Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back"
8. How slow is a slow burn?
Okay, I don't have a set number of words or whatever that define slow burn for me, and, frankly, I think some things that are called "slow burn" are actually just "will they or won't they?" but because they go on for like 100K words, people slap a "slow burn" label on there and call it a day. And I do think of these as two different genres. Like, a slow burn can have "will they or won't they?" elements, I guess, but I don't think that's all there is to it; I think of a slow burn and a gradual build to the relationship that just...takes awhile from the reader's perspective. If the characters both like each other romantically by like...5K in and then a bunch of stuff happens to keep them apart for 40K words...I don't know that I'd consider that a slow burn? It's possible my definitions aren't quite on-point; I don't know.
I feel like I just went on my slow burn rant instead of answering the question, but I don't have a set length. I think of a slow burn as a multi-part story and I think the ones I've read have all been over 100K words, but I think it's really less about word count and more about how long the relationship takes to come to fruition within the story and how the relationship comes to fruition as well -- whether it's done gradually or not, etc.
36. How do you come up with fic titles? What's the one you're most proud of?
All of my fic and chapter titles except for two (Speak Louder and The Short Stick) have come directly from the text of the fics in some way (technically I guess Reconstitution contains the word "reconstituted", but close enough). I usually know as soon as I write whatever the phrase is that it's going to be the title -- my brain just goes, "Hey, that's good and describes the story well enough" and whatever it is becomes the title. Though with chapter titles, it isn't uncommon for me to be skimming the text of the chapter to find a suitable title after I've already pasted everything into AO3 (but before actually submitting it); I'm not generally as worried about those (this 100% happened with this most recent chapter of Purpose of Heritage, "Open Communication". I had no strong feelings about what the title should be and just picked something from the text that seemed thematically on-point). And, with Collateral, I had the title before I actually wrote the scene where the word was used, but I had the dialogue in my head from the beginning.
The title I'm most proud of...probably Reconstitution because that one has layers, but I also really like chapter two of Collateral, which is titled "They Like Me Tragic" and is taken from something a very drunk and very despondent Leia says a few months post-Yavin. Also, I just like Confirmed by Sources Close to the Subject. It's kinda long but it's fun and it works on a couple of levels in that story and I like it.
Thank you for asking!

My prediction for Aya's ability
Before the March manga chapter is out, I want to place my bet on what Aya's ability will be (I'm also betting on her developing an ability on-panel, but I think the odds are good for that)
So, the first thing about both Aya-sensei and bsd!Aya is their families in general and their fathers in particular. Aya-sensei's mother died when she was four, and her father was the famous novelist Kouda Rohan. Her first writings were about growing up with him, and they were written at the request of publishers. She also had a sister (and two aunts) who were acomplished musicians who studied abroad, so her works deal a lot with her feelings of inferiority. Bsd!Aya has an abusive father and is constantly compared to her dead mother and older sister, and found lacking.
For possible ability names I want to look at some of Aya-sensei's works: Zakki (lit. miscelaneous notes), Shuuen (lit. the final years of one's life), Chichi Sono Shi (trans. Death of My Father), Kuroi Suso (lit. black hem), Tou (lit. to fight or wage war), Misokkasu (lit. miso dregs) and Nagareru (lit. float away).
It's Word of God that abilities are related to trauma, and bsd!Aya has plenty of it; I headcanon that abilities are tailored to maximize utility for the moment they appear --if you're drowing you get an ability to breath water and so on--, so I'm inclined to ignore all the father-related titles. Thematically appropriate, environmentally baffling.
That leaves me with Zakki, Kuroi Suso, Tou, Misokkasu and Nagareru (at least from her most notorious works; there's always the possibility Asagiri will pick a less-known work, or just choose a name and make an unrelated ability like Rashoumon).
Zakki (miscelaneous notes), Misokkasu (miso dregs) and Kuroi Suso (black hem) are too vague for my liking. They could be any and everything, so I'm not picking them.
Tou (fight) I like better. Bsd!Aya is a martial artist so it fits! It could be an ability that mimics fighting styles. BUT --there's always a but-- most martial artists only ENHANCE their craft with their abilities: Kouyou and Kyouka use their demons alongside their knives, Chuuya makes a single hit feel like being kicked by an elephant, Fukuchi improves his sword but even without would be a master swordman, Kunikida and Fukuzawa don't use their abilities with their martial arts at all. We even see Atsushi learning to fight so he doesn't have to rely on the tiger!
Tou is better, but I still don't like it.
Now. Now listen to me. NAGARERU
This is what jisho.org gives as translation for the verb nagareru
Tumblr media
You can see meaning number 5, to be heard or played, as in sound. Her father never listens, so it'd be thematically appropriate for Aya to be heard for the first time when her ability develops.
And you know what else? Aya and Bram are trapped, and nagareru is a verb for motion: an environmentally appropriate way out. They are also trapped very high, and it ties nicely with meaning 3, float like a cloud.
In conclusion, I'm putting my money on her awakening Nagareru, a flying/floating ability that will help her and Bram get down from the tower they're on.
But I guess we'll know in a month or two.

Twenty Questions for Fanfic Writers
I was tagged by the lovely @kelyon. Thank you!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
37. Please don't ask how many are finished lol
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
1,126,833. Woof.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Once Upon a Time (and any other Bobby works for Anyelle purposes), Stranger Things.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
One More Time, Steal My Breath
C.F.C.
We Could Be Invisible
What You'd Thought Lost
You Think You're Tough (I'll Call Your Bluff)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Ughhhhhh. I've been REALLY BAD about responding to comments for the past year. I wound up marking ALL of my unread comments as read and just starting over with new comments because it was so stressful. Only I would turn the act of responding to compliments into A WHOLE ORDEAL.
What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Yyyyyeah, see, that implies that I finish my fics, lol. Angstiest ending goes to "A World Gone Very Wrong," which was a gift fic for the amazing @toguchindraws. They wanted an open ending, so that was what they got!
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Almost all of my fics have (or will have) happy endings. I guess the one with the most nauseatingly happy ending would have to be What You'd Thought Lost.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I mean, a pairing I ship has gotten me accused of being a racist and fatphobic. Which is kind of funny, because 1.) they obviously didn't read the fic, 2.) I drew on my own experiences as a fat woman, and 3.) I had thin people telling me that they hated and failed the Presidential Fitness Test as much as I did! And as for the racist bit... I already addressed that in a rant earlier today.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Nope. Never written smut in my life. I haven't written tentacle smut or Daddy kink or period sex or ritualistic sex based on pagan sabbats.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Anyelle inherently involves crossovers, so yes. I also snuck brief Rumbelle into a Hellcheer fic. What I'm really looking forward to writing is a Once Upon a Time/Stranger Things crossover where Eddie and Chrissy were citizens in the Enchanted Forest and were brought to Storybrooke by Regina's curse. It'll basically be a half-assed season 1 AU featuring Hellcheer and Rumbelle.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Nope. I don't think I'm popular enough for that to happen. Also, most of my fic is kinda weird so I doubt anybody would steal it. People who steal fic seem like they want the latest popular thing. I'm not saying "wurrrr my fic is SO UNPOPULAR" because I know it's not. Just... it would stand out.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but if someone wanted to, I'd be cool with it.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I have a stalled fic with @phoenixwrites that would be a Hellcheer/VanQuinn crossover (which is hilarious because I find real people far too boring to ship). I need to get back to that.
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
Listen. I can't pick just one. You show me someone who struggles to accept that they can be loved for who they are, and I will ship them obsessively.
15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I plan on finishing MOST of my fics. Even the ones that have been on hiatus for over a year. The one that stands out to me is Masters of Destiny, my Dark One Belle fic. For one thing, the title makes me cringe. And for another, I had too many plans at once for the damn thing, some of which directly contradicted one another. So now the whole damn thing fizzled out.
16. What are your writing strengths?
No clue. I kinda flail at the keyboard and what happens, happens. Atmosphere, maybe?
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Descriptions. I'm not a very visual person, so I just describe a detail or two of the setting and let readers take it from there.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I know for a fact that Google translate is unreliable, and I'm not fluent enough in any other language to attempt it myself. It certainly has its place, but I don't see myself doing it.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Sailor Moon. Cringey self-insert fic pairing myself with the creepy mopey white-haired anime boy villain. And I was Sailor Sun and I had my own team of Sailor Senshi and WE WERE ALL IN A ROCK BAND. Very cutting-edge stuff for a sixth grader. (First fanfic I ever conceived was before I could even read. I watched this anime Thumbellina movie and just obsessively thought, "what if Maia plummeted to her death and her frog and sugarplum fairy friend cried?" for like MONTHS)
20. Favorite fic you've written?
I don't think I could choose just one. I love and cringe at all my fics in equal yet different ways. And all of them have parts of me in them.
I tag @peacehopeandrats @rogueimperator @astorytotellyourfriends @staceymcgillicuddy and anyone else who wants to play!

Yes, I did! I'm about to turn 42, actually. So I had my first "actual touch typing" class in 9th grade, which would've been 1996-1997.
In elementary school (I went to a private school for grades 1-6), we had a "computer lab" class with Apple computers, especially the IIc and later the IIgs. We were not taught proper typing then, just things like LOGO, a brief bit on BASIC, and various programs/games like Word/Number Muncher, Carmen Sandiego, and Oregon Trail.
In middle school, there was very little in the way of "computer lab" courses available. I remember one which had an art program, and one of the kids found one of the demo images and claimed he did it himself because he figured nobody would know, I guess? (It was a minor animation based on that famous painting of a diner that Google tells me is named "Nighthawks" and was done in 1942 by Edward Hopper.)
In high school, I was told I could "pick an elective" by someone who was claiming it was to prepare me for the "college experience", but when I asked for the "most advanced computer class I could get" (because I had always been a total computer dork my entire life), I was put into the incomprehensible "KBD DOC PROC" or similar. Only to find out that stood for "Keyboarding and Document Processing", a fancy way of saying "typing". The first day, a flyer was passed out titled "Don't be afraid of the Mouse - It's not a real mouse, it can't bite you." I was internally screaming even before the teacher introduced the computer and uttered the line, "This TV-looking thing isn't a TV, it's called a mon-i-tor." So much for "most advanced".
In addition to typing tests, we also did basic "word processing" programs, but between it still being 1996 and it being public school, we were still using DOS-based programs. I forget which one exactly, I believe Microsoft Works was chosen though Lotus 1-2-3 was present. The next year, "Business Computer Applications" would switch to Windows 95 and use Word and the other programs in Office. And the remaining two years were basically the exact same class.
I hadn't been using touch typing, going into the class, but since I was already familiar with using computers, it was a thing I "knew" but didn't see the point of using (until I was actually forced to). The teacher, however, was someone who detested computers as a general rule. During the final exam, we were told to just type a passage from the book and "get as far as we can" in the allotted time. When I asked what to do if we finished, she met the question with a "This will never happen" scoff and went "Just start over, I guess." I was on my third pass when time ran out.
My senior year, I was up to roughly 80 WPM. I only continued to improve, especially when in early college. I was playing a website-based game (Pre-Flash, I think) that included a chat room where you could enter using your character's name. Since the game had a limited number of turns per day, they encouraged you to simply play multiple characters (as long as you didn't use them to funnel resources to one another to give yourself an unfair advantage). So I ended up in that chat room with anywhere from 3-5 characters at once in different windows. I'd keep up with multiple conversations, and that practice was probably the biggest leap in speed.
I haven't tested myself in a long time, though. So I don't know where I am anymore. ^_^;;
This is a subject that really interests me because I (28 years old) had computer classes in grade school where learning how to efficiently type was a big focus. As a result I have a very high WPM (words per minute) count and am an excellent touch typer.
However, I've heard that they started phasing out computer classes in a lot of schools because it's assumed that kids/teenagers already know how to use a computer in this day and age. But smartphones are more popular than computers now, and as result a lot of Gen Z/Gen Alpha kids are able to text very quickly but their typing skills aren't as good.
