🎧A Guide to the TGCF Audio Drama🎭
With the release of the new season of the fabulous TGCF audio drama, I wanted to make an updated guide on how to make an account, purchase, and listen (with English subs) to it! Hopefully, this will help more people enjoy it and join in on the fun!
As a quick reminder, the audio drama is based on the revised version of the novel! It's a very faithful adaptation, but if you're a new fan, that might throw you for a loop! If you need an overview of the different versions of TGCF, check out this post first!
Part One: Making an Account & Purchasing
The process is a lot easier than you may expect! The site where the audio drama is hosted is "missevan.com," also known as "MaoerFM." They are one and the same!
Check out these infographics to create an account and buy the audio drama. (Due to tumblr compression, they may be difficult to read. If this is the case, please view these images in full-screen and preferably on a web browser for best quality!)
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
General Info:
It costs 319 diamonds for the first season, and 359 diamonds for the second season of the TGCF audio drama. This was less than $5 USD, for each season. Future seasons will likely be similarly priced.
Episodes typically release weekly. Mini-episodes/bonus content releases intermittently, and often continues after the main season "ends."
This guide will work for any other audio dramas you want to purchase and support (such as MDZS)! They obviously have different costs, but the process of buying is pretty much the same.
Account/Registration Info:
If you do not see your country/region code listed when making an account, it is unfortunately unavailable there. I do not know any workarounds at the moment, apart from asking a friend/relative in a different country to help you out! If anyone does know other options, please let me know!
Step One of the guide is technically optional, as logging in on the app for the first time will automatically create a new account, if there’s not already one associated with your mobile phone number. I recommend doing that step anyway, as it will ensure that you have a password linked to your account. Several people in the past have reported that they sometimes cannot receive the verification code to log in. (Especially from South America and SEA for some reason.) Having a password bypasses this, if it happens to you.
Unfortunately, it seems that you MUST register with a mobile number to begin with.
Otherwise, you can use an existing Bilibili/QQ/WeChat/Weibo account if you have it. They all require a number for registration too, as far as I know, so you may run into the same problem. They may still be worth trying if you have no other options! Once again, if anyone is aware of other workarounds, do let me know.
Additionally, it’s possible to link your account to an email AFTER you register with a mobile number. (There’s no escaping that, from what I can tell.) You can then use that to log in.
It seems useful to have your email and a password associated with your account, especially in case your country code gets nixed from availability -- which has been known to happen without warning in the past.
The mobile browser seems to prefer you log in with a number/email and a password, rather than a verification code.
LINKING AN E-MAIL TO YOUR ACCOUNT (Optional)
This must be done via web browser, or with your mobile browser set to desktop mode. It’s VERY easy if you use a browser with an auto-translate feature like Google Chrome:
(These images are the MTL translated versions!)
Unfortunately yes, you will need to receive a verification code via mobile number to enable this. The second verification code gets sent to your email, though! (Try not to lose your password, because I'm pretty sure you'll still have to use your phone to verify and change it.) Don't forget to check your spam folder if you don't see it. It will be from "猫耳FM."
Once again, this is optional! I just wanted to include it as an extra avenue for people who may struggle with the verification codes, as they can be finicky. And it happened to me while I was making this section, so I knew I had to....
Part Two: How to Enable English Subtitles
First things first: there are no official English subs for the TGCF Audio Drama. Though I'm fairly sure this applies to all dramas on MaoerFM.
However, there are Chinese (Simplified) subs for each episode.
OPTION ONE: MTL
The main method that non-Chinese speakers have been using to understand the Audio Drama is via MTL (machine translation) on those subs! Browsers like Google Chrome not only have auto-translate, but it works in real time as you watch/listen to the episode.
Make sure that it's turned on and that you've selected English -- or your preferred output language!
Be aware there are TWO types of subtitles on MaoerFM. There are the official subs, and the temporary subs.
At the bottom of the audio player, there is a button labelled "字幕," which is circled in purple in the image below. If it is there, it means that episode has official subs available, and you can toggle them on/off. Meanwhile, the "弹" that the green arrow is pointing to is known as the "barrage." That's the scrolling text that you will see filling the screen. It's other fans screaming and crying in chat. You can turn it off if it feels overwhelming!
New episodes may take anywhere from a few hours to a day or two to be officially subtitled. (The bonus episodes don't have official subs for whatever reason.) In the meantime, there will be subtitlers working on adding temporary subs! I'd advise waiting a little while before listening to a new episode so they have more time to work, and you'll have better coverage!
While official subs are entirely separate, the temporary subs are part of the barrage. So you will have to keep the barrage turned on. (Notice how there is no "字幕" button next to it yet!) Unlike the rest of the barrage, the subs will be stationary, color-coded, and at the very bottom of the window -- so they're easy to differentiate.
However, since the barrage can be a lot if you aren't used to it, there is a way around it.
Hit the settings menu (blue circle) and block the scrolling comments. You can also turn off the top ones, but just make sure not to turn off the bottom ones -- because those are the subs!
DO NOTE that this all works best on desktop! If everything's gone correctly, you should have something like these:
Right -- regular view, temporary subs Left -- full-screen, official subs
It's possible to get this to work on mobile if you enable desktop mode in your Chrome app. You will probably need to refresh a few times after that, or open the page in a new tab to have it work properly. Then it's the same steps as above!
You should have something like these:
Right -- landscape mode Left -- portrait mode
The scaling on mobile can be troublesome, and I have noticed that the auto-translate is slower than on desktop. It seems to take an extra second or two to work on each line -- whereas on desktop it's pretty instant -- and that can get annoying, especially in fast-paced scenes.
Additional Info:
This does not work for the mobile app! It is for the website ONLY!
If the translation stops working, refreshing usually fixes it.
There are potentially other options to using Chrome. Any browser that has an auto-translate will work, assuming it's as quick as Chrome's. If anyone has tried other browsers and seen success, please leave a reply!
OPTION TWO: FANSUBS
TreasureChestSubs here on tumblr have been doing high-quality fansubs for several audio dramas, including TGCF as of recently! However, at the time of making this guide, their TGCF translations currently only cover the first few episodes of season one. You will need to request an invite to their Discord server via the form in their posts. Please do check them out if you're interested.
I don't personally know of any other fansubbers who are actively working on the audio drama right now. But I do want to mention that Xyra_Rei on twitter has a Discord server where they share some translated snippets from various episodes. There are other great resources by fellow fans, too. Links and more info about the server can be found in the pinned post on their profile!
Part Three: Enjoy!!!
I hope this updated guide helps more people experience the wonder that is the TGCF audio drama (or really, any audio drama)! I cannot overstate how good it is in every aspect, and I think every TGCF fan deserves to be able to hear it for themselves! 💖
#tgcf#tian guan ci fu#hob#heaven official's blessing#tgcf audio drama#guide#nyerus.txt#yes fellas this is my only use-case for chrome and tbh... lmk of other options please lol#anyway the TGCF AD has my entire heart and soul PLEASE LISTEN TO IT

Romechu! Silk Road pair !!
So, yeah, uhh, maybe you noticed but romechu is devouring my soul again, and I think I’d not be able to rest until I talk about it. When I last went to the tag people commented it was getting more popular, and I’m so happy about it! (yay!, maybe...we will escape rarepair hell?, nah XD, but it is certainly great that more people discover this ship! It is an amazing ship indeed)
So, I thought of sharing my headcanons and well things that make my heart race when thinking about these two, and contribute with my two cents.
First, like, I like that is a pairing that you first go: “Eh?, there is no way these two have a connection” but then you go deeper and discover the silk road, and how they totally knew of each other, even if it was mostly indirectly, and maybe with some encounters even.
And discover these connections, and/or wondering about these possible connections is great, and let me tell you it reads like a fairytale. And how even with their differences are so similar in the other side of the world. (both of them see everyone else as barbarians, you see XD)
Not, but the long distance relashionship thing, is not really something I usually see, but really appreciate, especially because in their time like, in our time there are long distance relashionships but we have, like means to get to the other side of the world in days, back then that distance was really big.
Also the fact that you know, because their distance was really big these two could like, coexist peacefully. They were too far away to be together constantly, but because of that they could trade and just be, with each other without conflic, free to compliment and admire the other from a safe distance. (even if these two aren’t big complimenters of foreign nations)
There is something incredible romantic about being in love with someone from the other side of the world, who you travel far and wide to meet. I love them being in the others country once or twice, but I also love to imagine the (much more likely) concept that they only met by crossing paths throught trade. There are so many routes you can take this. Can I say also POWER COUPLE, because yeah, power couple, one of the biggest.
I think I said this before, but you know this image from when Hima is talking about the silk road:
Look, rome had a very similar looking cat in the previous image, and while I know that historically, it is very likely the one giving the cat to china is not Rome, but someone in the middle, I do not care, even so it is precious. Pretty sure it is the same cat.(baby deserves being a shrine guardian after that travel) And I can pretend it is Rome and that they met up. And cats!, what more do you want.
Can we talk about food?, about the life long debate about pasta and these two fools sharing it? and disscussing about it, probably? And maybe sightseeing the stars?, (seeing comets together lalala).
And sometimes I do stop what I am doing because I remember China called the ROman Empire Daquin, that is like another China in the other side of the world, and I just stare into the void. Because even if you are not an empire that is deep into maintaining a barbarian-civilized dicothomy, you, just not gave another foreing country a name like that. I suppose it is because as you do kind of like them but you are the only civilization that is proper, you name these people after yourself so there is not other form, and the chinese ways is still the greatest, but it is....it stills feels incredible to me.
(I also do not know a lot about chinese history so I could have just said bullshit in the last paragraph when I started making theories, but still)
And well, a headcanon that never leaves my mind, that I have to share, is that you know the Aeneid?, (the original fanfiction? XD), there is a part about how the people who will settle Rome in the future will know they reached the correct place to form a home when they eat their (bread)plates. And you could make the argument that kind of food was started form China. So you could argue that China was Rome’s home. (I have a vivid vision of China commenting this fact off-handendly the last time they see each other, the closer to his death Rome is the better, even though is it less likely they met by that time, but because he is more vulnerable then, he just, hears this and instead of mocking the other, just, stares, reliving all his life in a moment, and ‘oh’ he goes, looking at China in that middle point so far away, his eyes glister when he gives China a Mona Lisa smile and says, as choking, “I’m home, then”. and not sure what China answers to that, if a “welcome home” or if just stares at him or embraces him or another reaction, but it is a haunting last impression for sure)
And can I say that all the artist of this pairing are amazing? (the hetalia fandom in general has fantastic artists, but damn) and the fanfic’s too.
@romechu did a rec’s list a while back. Here it is.
And also there is @52px, who is more a general ancient blog, but her fics are amazing and you really should read them if you like the ship, and I personally, find hilarious and fitting that parthian is like, looking at these idiots in love and going all math confused lady meme “how?”
There is also this fic Connections of the heart by bubbleteahime, that is poetic and leaves me thinking, yes, soulmate au of these two are good (even though they are not my cup of tea generally, at least not without a twist).
Well, there is more, you can see more in the tag.
The fanarts are really on another level, and the artists deserve ll praise that they can get. For last, I’ve been digging around bilibili for more content,(surely there china pairings are more popular), and have come forth with some links, that I wil post tomorrow, because I will sleep now.
Well, thank you for hearing me, and I like this ship so much!!
EDIT: 3/3/2019: I made a video recs post, here.

ensemble girls resources: a masterlist
always wanted to get into engirls but don't know how? already into engirls but curious as to where to get official art and all that stuff?
well look no further! this masterlist is made for you!✨️ ok i'll stop it with the advertisement talk
❀ index!
translations
cards (framed and frameless), transparents and cgs
official art
ost/songs
—translations
translations are both one of the easiest and most difficult things to find with engirls, this being due to the fact there's not much translated content about it
there's already somewhat of an engirls masterlist regarding translations here !!! i don't have much to add about it,, if you can't find a specific story or something you're interested in using any of those sources, chances are it hasn't been translated yet, please have patience and stay up to date with the engirls eng twt acc to see if a translation is ever uploaded!
—cards (framed and frameless), transparents and cgs
this one kind of depends on what you're looking for
for framed cards, i recommend the ensemble girls wiki, you just gotta go into the gallery of the character you want to see cards of and boom. most cards are there!! another option is the kimisaki database, which i'll explain a bit more about in the next point
for both frameless and transparents i recommend checking the kimisaki database right here, more specifically, in the card series (カードシリーズ) section; while not all cards are there since the database still is a work in progress, it's a good replacement for the old engirls database that was taken down a couple months ago (rip)
another source for transparent versions of cards is @/sevenarchive, if you look in the ensemble girls tag you should find various transparent cards, not all of them sadly, but hey! it's smth, at least
for cgs, there is a decent chunk of engirls cgs in @/engirls-cg's blog, while not all of them are there, it's the only public source i've seen that has engirls cgs
—official art
most official art is found in the official engirls twt (@/ensemble_girls), though you'd have to look for it using keywords and stuff since the acc has A Lot of tweets,, some keywords could be:
2周年, 3周年, 5周年, 7周年; for anniversary arts
(ttm), (mm), (ck), (jk), (ro), (nk); for miscellaneous art the engirls acc has posted
though, @/nomorewhitepeople has uploaded some of engirls' official art under the #upload tag, if you check it you'll find a bit of official art and that stuff, i'm technically also doing the same but at a slower pace since i don't really like clogging up the engirls tag much
as far as i'm aware, there aren't any other sources to obtain official art
—ost/songs
by ost i mostly refer to sound effects and in-game music, that kinda stuff
for some ! story ost and sound effects, they can be found here, you can also find voicelines of some characters related to certain cards and stuff
for the special songs like the theme song, the rock band club song and the memorial song, you can find them on youtube and soundcloud!
soundcloud link for all 3 songs: ☆, the link leads to a playlist for all three songs
youtube links: let's make☆ensemble! (theme song); sacred gods above, droplet of a black moon (rock band club song); the days where you bloomed (memorial song)
the quality isn't the best, but it's the only public source where i've found the songs aside from bilibili and stuff,, also i haven't found the event and enmemo soundtracks in any public platform, so sadly those i cannot link them here. sorry!
that's pretty much all ik about engirls sources and stuff, if there's else something u want to find but isn't listed here, feel free to ask!! oh also if there's smth u think should be added to the list pls feel free to tell me!

Where to watch and listen to non-English language musicals?
I’ve been thinking about making a post like this for a while but wondered hm do I want to be giving out links to free downloads of musical audios publicly when really I want to promote people still buying CDs because one, it supports the artists, and two, I think it’s better to own things still rather than just own things digitally. But I found an extra treasure trove I didn’t know about before and I feel a need to share because I didn’t make it, it’s already online, so why shouldn’t I tell people about it? And then this was just going to be for audios and not videos and I was going to make a separate post but figured it would be easier if all the info was on one post. I actually was going to post this on my sideblog @europeanmuscials but I accidentally made the draft under my main blog which meant I couldn’t change it later and I couldn’t be bothered to cope and paste and redo all the images and tags because I didn’t save the images I just copy and pasted them so oh well.
Purchasing
So as I always preface when I share info on where to stream musicals, PLEASE try always support the artists by buying CDs and DVDs! I know a lot of the musicals here are 10/20+ years old and you cannot get the CDs anywhere anymore, but when a new musical comes out please try and get the CD without instatnly looking for a download. You can purchase non-English language musical CDs, DVDs and other merch from places like soundofmusic-shop.de or Ebay, or Yahoo Auctions for Japanese musicals, using a proxy shipping service, I personally use ZenMarket. Those are how I’ve gotten all of mine, getting them off Ebay or Yahoo Auctions means they’ll likely be second hand and there is nothing wrong or weird about buying second hand goods.
Streaming Audio
Spotify. A lot of German and French musicals are on Youtube. I have a series of playlists that will help you find them easily: one is my favourite songs from a bunch of different non-English language musicals, one of songs from solo albums from European and Asian musical theatre artists, and this one which is going to be the most help that is a huge playlist of every single full cast album of every non-English musical cast album I have found on Spotify. Please let me know if I’ve missed any on there and I’ll add them.
Youtube. Some official cast albums are also on Youtube, normally official uploads that match the Spotify uploads. Ones I know of that aren’t on Spotify for example is the original 2003 Dutch production of one of my favourite musicals 3 Musketiers and the 2005 German production of it.
Streaming Video
I want to preface this with how unlike Broadway and the West End, it’s fairly common for European musicals to get proshots and DVD and Bluray releases and so you don’t normally need to resort to looking for bootleg videos and can watch and purchase the pretty official proshots instead.
Youtube. There’s so many different channels uploading them to Youtube that for ease I made a playlist of every full length production on Youtube starting with the ones that have English subtitles. I also have playlists for different individual musicals and misc European musicals that are full of shorter videos: clips, interviews, behind the scenes, concert performances and other videos that aren’t full length production videos. These playlists are constantly updated.
Bilibili. A Chinese video sharing website. It has a lot Asian musicals of course, but European musicals, in particular French and German ones, have a very dedicated fanbase in Asia and so there are a lot of videos on here. You can search for then using the English/Roman alphabet and they normally come up fine. Easiest way I search on there is using the name of the musical/actor and a year.
VK. A Russian social media similar to Facebook. There are multiple fanpages for specific actors and musicals where I’ve found videos, but you can also search over all of VK. You might need an account to do this, I don’t remember but I think you do and that’s why I made one there. Here’s links to fanpages for Drew Sarich, Jan Ammann, Mark Seibert and Thomas Borchert.
Downloading Audio
r/castrecordings on Reddit. It’s a community of traders and you can make a reply to their request threads for the month asking if anyone has the audio you’re looking for, but please check first to see if it’s already been uploaded. I have downloaded many audios off there and I also have uploaded audios to there if I see someone request something that I have because I feel that it’s only fair for me to help others out there when I’ve downloaded things off there so many times. Be aware download links on here often get deleted and so a lot of older posts don’t have working download links anymore, but you can just request for a new working download on the request threads.
archive.org. Now I would never have thought of looking there, but I was on there because they have a lot of old silent films and so I was looking to watch the original Phantom of the Opera film and when I searched Phantom I was surprised by some cast albums that came up. So I wondered what would happen if I just looked at audios and oh I have found a wonderful little treasure trove. User musical_lover_1980 has uploaded over 1 thousand cast albums of Broadway, West End and non-English language musicals and a few film soundtracks. A lot of ones on there I’ve found before on r/castrecordings, but I was so happy to find a number that I didn’t already have. There’s even one Takarazuka album on there, which isn’t a lot but do you know how rare and hard those things are to find. And the Korean Frankenstein musical cast album!!
EDIT: also the account @ WennLi3b3 on archive.org is uploading audios and proshot videos
Because I will be link to external sites this might not show up in tags so I appreciate the reblogs. Please don’t share this post outside of Tumblr, nor any of the audios I post here outside of Tumblr. If I find that happening I’ll delete everything and not post audios or information like this anymore. Apologies if there are typos or any mistakes here.
