i just submitted my bachelor thesis. it's titled “Steve Rogers and Captain America aren’t always the same guy”: Captain America fanfiction as a Locus of Transformation, Identity Exploration, and Reclamation" and i'm not officially writing a dedication, but i want you all to know that this is really dedicated to you.

Hydra Trash Party rec list

It's @tenyearsoftrash's rec day, so I decided to go through my bookmarks and pull out a few of my favorites! Not in any particular order; please make sure to mind the tags for specific warnings.

Sam POV (series) by @appalachianfireflies: One of the first Sam/Steve/Bucky fics I ever read. Found footage and recovery-focused. There's a really lovely, slow building sort of atmosphere here.

Skin Trade by @defilerwyrm: The Winter Soldier learns to trade its body for things that it wants. Great use of the 5+1 format. The oatmeal scene still gets me.

Motions (series) by Nonymos: I don't typically go for modern AUs. But Nonymos manages to perfectly transpose all the key elements and characterizations of CA:TWS into a contemporary setting, blending explicit trash with one of the best recovery fics I've ever read. I cannot see pool balls without thinking of this story.

A Prelude in Ice by aleberg9: This is technically a WIP, but the chapters all work as oneshots. Really fascinating portrayal of Bucky and the Red Room, plus some fantastic young Natasha moments.

Multiple Subcutaneous Hemotomas (series) by @a-social-construct: Sam/Steve/Bucky, navigating relationships post-retraumatization. The end scene is one I still mull over.

pictures came with touch by Nonymos: I'll take "Fics that cater perfectly to my id" for 2000. Bucky being simultaneously touch-starved and touch-averse.

For Science by @clucku and @mumble--bee: Truly one of the Sam/Bucky HTP fics of all time. Forced to do it, forced to watch, forced to have things done to them. The sequel is also great.

And, last but not least, three fanworks which okay, were created specifically for me and which probably say way too much about my psyche, but which everyone else who's into this should still enjoy regardless:

Mindbeast by @defilerwyrm: Brilliantly original Bucky/Creature fic that's trashy, but also like... not as trashy as it could be. It passes the Harkness Test, I swear!

Please by @thefilthiestpiglet: Found footage AND recovery AND touch starvation AND developing relationships. I'm in this picture and I like it.

The Ties that Bind [ART] by @callmekayyyyy: Beautifully detailed post-HTP art that lets you imagine a story all on your own.

A Whole New Timeline

Steggy Week Day 6 - Multiverse

I wanted to post something for today, tomorrow I'll actually post the story once it's done. This tease is for @callmekayyyyy & @marveltrumpshate.

 Neither of them knew what would be on the other side of that portal. On the other side, they found themselves in the future on a whole other timeline. A timeline that had never seen Peggy Carter or Steve Rogers come to their full potential. Peggy had married Fred and lived until the age of 83, living the life of a housewife and raising 3 kids. Steve had died shortly after his mother’s death, succumbing to a broken heart. Coming out on the other side of that portal was one ordeal, the universe decided they needed another when Steve collapsed under the stress of interdimensional travel. Before they can begin to find their footing in this new world, they need to find a way to save Steve.

Steggy Week Day 6 - Multiverse

Thank you @steggyfanevents, this is just late and along with the theme of Steggy lmao. This is for the amazing @callmekayyyyy & @marveltrumpshate

Neither of them knew what would be on the other side of Hydra’s portal, but Steve knew he couldn’t let Peggy go through the consequences of going through it alone. On the other side, they found themselves in the future in another timeline. A timeline that had never seen Peggy Carter or Steve Rogers come to their full potential. Peggy had married Fred and lived until the age of 83, living the life of a housewife and raising three kids. Steve had died shortly after his mother’s death, succumbing to a broken heart. Coming out on the other side of that portal was one ordeal, the universe decided they needed another when Steve collapsed under the stress of interdimensional travel. Before they can begin to find their footing in this new world, they need to find a way to save Steve. Hydra couldn’t even be blamed as they were eradicated shortly after the war had ended by the Howling Commandos of this time and someone named the Winter Soldier.

Steve’s ears rang from the force of the tentacle knocking him around in the suit. It was dead, just a heavy piece of metal now as he dropped to the floor. He could hear Peggy screaming, the sound echoing in his head, the sound of metal on brick as she dug the sword into the bricks to prevent the monster from pulling her into the depths of hell.

Or wherever the hell that portal was going to take her.

“Peggy!” Her name tore from his throat as he threw himself out of the suit. His vision was fuzzy as he watched her struggle against the tentacle, knowing this was a rapidly losing battle.

“I have to, Steven, I have to end this.”

She might be the only one that could end this, but she wasn’t going to do it alone, Steve decided.

Time seemed to slow down as he threw himself after her in the last millisecond, the tentacle reacting by wrapping itself around his torso and dragging him in. Her fingers wrapped around his, jerking him close to her side. Peggy hit the ground rolling, raising the sword and shield the second she got to her feet. Steve collided with her as the portal stuttered and died behind them. Her senses were rocked, ears roaring.

“Peggy-” Steve’s voice was shaken, holding onto her shoulder for support. She saw his head tip slightly and she followed his line of sight to two men standing a distance away.

“Who-” Steve has to stop and clear his throat. He didn’t look too good, slightly pale and dazed. “Who are you two?”

“Lower the sword, ma’am,” the man with the eyepatch said, hands raised in surrender. “We’re not your enemies.”

Steve snorted, unable to help himself. “Funny thing to say, considering we just came through Hydra’s portal.”

The blonde man beside him laughed loudly, nudging the other man. “He has you there, Fury. That’s Captain Carter and-” He eyed Steve, his lips pursing in thought. “If I don’t believe it, that man looks like the younger version of Captain Rogers from Timeline - what did we label it again? Y’know the one. The one with the green tab.”

“Barton,” Fury growled, shooting his partner a look. “I don’t know how to say this, but I’m sorry. The war has been over for 70 years.”

😉😏😅😂🤣 No! But I'm happy you're enjoying them! Now that the pain of the elections here in the US is sort of over, I was just in the need to start reblogging marvel content again. And since it's probably been the longest since Clint got some love here, I decided to load up my queue with him. Stupid politics have been consuming me too long, and it was just time to catch up reblogging all the lovely stuff I collected in my likes!
