this is a post for the cod fandom, specifically towards ghoap shippers because what some of y'all are doing is DISUSTING.

firstly, let's make something VERY clear: ghost x soap is NOT canon and it never will be canon. in fact, their relationship is PURELY platonic yet some of you guys always want a romantic relationship to happen whenever there's a male friendship. are you allergic to platonic relationship's or something? because they do exist.

with that that said: STOP ATTACKING CONTENT CREATORS AND THOSE WHO HAVE AN OC WITH EITHER GHOST OR SOAP (or any other 141 task force member). STOP ATTACKING BIPOC OCs ESPECIALLY AND STOP SPREADING HATE TOWARDS THOSE WITH COD OCs IN GENERAL.

what you are doing is VERY disrespectful and I dare I say, immature. you are not giving creators a chance at having a safe space nor are you letting them have fun pairing an oc with a character in the COD-verse, especially when they want to pair them with either ghost or soap.

please stop attacking these OC creators and stop using oc discourse on them.

just be kind and respectful to everyone in the fandom, let's not spread hate.

I have some thoughts about the latest COD discourse that’s floating on tiktok, especially because it relates to Ghost and his past.

As someone who enjoys writing and reading dark themed fics I can’t support your argument that Ghost’s characterisation can only tailor to a certain narrative because he himself is a SA victim. While I do not condone the use of r*pe as a kink or as a material source (unless it is well thought and well executed as a backstory developer or to bring awareness to the subject). Even then it’s a very delicate thing that needs to be handled very carefully for obvious reasons

I do not condone r*pe in a smut sense in any way, shape or form. But I don’t support the villainization of fanfic writers who explore dark subjects that are teetering the line, in your opinion. CNC, somnophillia, dubcon (I could go on all day let’s be real) are not for everyone and that’s okay, it does not mean that these dark themes need to be weaponised by the people that don’t enjoy them to put the people that do enjoy them in a position where they feel like they are bad people for liking those subjects.

Things should be tagged and marked for these subjects nether the less but the world isn’t censored so I can’t feel sorry for you if you don’t have the right censorship measures in place for yourself on the internet. If you do come across these things? Scroll. Don’t waste your time leaving hate and leaving comments and making people feel bad for things that are not bad. I am so fucking sick and tired of people making it other peoples problems when they see something they don’t like or don’t agree with.

If it’s straight up r*pe then that’s very different and that’s something that shouldn’t be ignored and encouraged when it comes to fanfic and fanbases.

I didn’t want to stay silent on this because I know just how much it’s blown up on tiktok and I feel that as someone who can write quite dark themes that I’d speak up on it. I won’t let myself and some of my lovely mutuals be made out to be awful people, because these subjects are not the same!

Thinking lately about shipping and fandoms and all that depressing jazz.

And here’s the thing: have we forgotten that shippers regularly take the L? I don’t even know where this belief that we’re being catered to comes from; we regularly and historically wear clown noses.

When did we stop shipping for the sake of shipping and start needing to be correct? Be superior, be the main character?

I feel it’s always been like that a little, but I’ve personally NEVER seen it this bad.

And the sheer entitlement, man.

Listen, I’m not going to disturb my man JRR Tolkien to resurrect him only for the sake of putting Maeglin and Glorfindel together and have him incorporate my headcanons because Maeglin was the king of being misunderstood and really just needs to get dicked down and lovingly held after by Glorfindel, ok??

Cause that’s my headcanon and ship and I have fanfiction for it. Also Tolkien has been dead for 51 slutty slutty years, but that’s beside the point.

I’m not boycotting CoD or throwing a temper tantrum over the fact that Ghost and Soap aren’t having filthy nasty sex and heartbreaking conversations.

I’m not attacking Ewan McGregor and Temuera Morrison for not canonically getting Codywan.

And even in the height of my Buddie days, I never attacked the actors or show runners or female actresses. I’ve certainly had non-gracious thoughts, but I’ve kept it off of social media.

Please hear me out; this is not me saying I’m better than anyone. I’m not. I’m sooooo not. But I’m hoping that others might remember what shipping is about.

Round TWO at addressing the extreme racism in the CoD fandom!

So it’s both odd and funny that my Indigenous fem!OC has pissed off so many random people, especially with the fact that I created her to ship with Ghost.

(A fictional character that has NO canon love interest, FYI. Sorry to bust y'all's little bubble. Well, there's Mara and Urban Tracker....)

Anyways, I really don't care if this post sounds bitchy in nature. I really don't, not anymore. Some of y'all need a damn wakeup call. Several months ago, in December of 2023, I made a post (here) regarding the sudden influx of hate I began receiving following the posting of my OC, SilentDove Reyes. For around two weeks after that post, the hate died down, and I felt motivated to create more content involving Dove and Ghost.

Until the hate picked up again with every little thing I posted that related to my OC x Ghost.

However....this new hate incorporated the MMIW. A bold ass move, in my opinion.

If you are not aware, the MMIW stands for "Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women." Alternate spellings include the MMIWG & MMIWGTS (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirits). As of 2023, statistics indicate that Indigenous women face a 10x murder rate than any other race/ethnicity. I have made a previous post regarding the issue, seen here. The unfortunate truth is that young Indigenous girls are more likely to be SA'd and murdered than to attend college. Let that sink in for a moment.

Now, I am an Indigenous woman. That is no surprise there; I fashioned my OC to provide myself (and, by extension, others) with Native representation in a franchise I greatly enjoy. What IS surprising, however, is that me doing so has pissed off so many people. I'm very certain some of y'all must descend from Andrew Jackson, or John Wayne cause, christ on a bike driven by a pike.

Listen, I don't care who you ship Ghost with. I really don't. I've blocked numerous shipping tags, remained mindful of the content I'm interacting with, and surrounded myself with fellow mutuals who also have personal OCs. It is really that easy.

What I do care about is the fact that some of you CANNOT separate fanon headcanons from canon material.

So let’s clear some stuff up!

Soap x Ghost is NOT canon.

Ghost being queer is NOT canon.

And, most definitely, Ghost being a woman abuser who would harm/abuse/murder a woman (either physically, emotionally, psychologically) is NOT canon.

What IS canon is his and Soap's strong bond. In my eyes, that is a brotherly bond, reminding me of a big brother/little brother relationship; in my fanfiction, Soap is Ghost's children's uncle. In fact, his son (second-born child) is named after him.

You are, of course, free to view them as romantic; what you are not free to do is attack OC creators/non-shippers for not perceiving them like that.

That is just fucking weird and delusional behavior. Knock it off. You're giving your fellow normal shippers a bad name.

ALSO! Let’s clear things up!

1. I’m not straight — I’m bisexual and demisexual.

2. I’m only half white (Spanish, with Mexican heritage). I’m QUITE LITERALLY an enrolled Native, so I guess the best way to describe me is “biracial.”

3. It’s y’all ruining the canon gay representation by shipping Laswell—a GAY woman—with Price, despite the fact that she canonically has a wife.

4. My OC does not have a “dumb fucking name.” Her name is an Indigenous name with a specific backstory to it; it’ll be explored further in future fanfics once I find the motivation to return to writing.

Anyways, I highly doubt this will be the last post I create regarding this problem; apparently, a nice chunk of the fandom has this intense animosity towards fem!OCs, fem!Y/Ns, and BIPOC!OC creators. Alright. With that being said, I invite anyone who has similar experiences to share yours, either in the reblogs or in separate posts.

As sometimes we say during pow wows:

So I don’t really ship Ghoap and instead lean toward some pretty unconventional, out-there ships for both these characters (individually) and am the type who cooks up smth like shipping Erika (Barbie) with Soap as well. That said, I enjoy some Ghoap art / fics, and I genuinely think the people creating ship content are incredibly talented. I fully support the ways you choose to enjoy your fandom experience. Anyone who harasses you for liking Ghoap can fuck off.

That being said, some of the behavior in the community really rubs me the wrong way. The whole “if two male characters express care, affection, or emotions toward one another, they must automatically be gay and romantically/sexually involved” trope is getting old. And the hatred toward female characters (canon ones like Mara or even original characters) just because they might “get in the way” of a ship that isn’t even canon? It’s immature and nasty. No one’s “erasing” a gay ship that doesn’t exist. The fandom’s tendency to hyper-prioritize male characters (minus Gaz because the fandom do be racist asf, even in shipping) while tearing down female ones reeks of misogyny. Like, why else would you be so pressed over the idea of Ghost for example being with a woman? The outright dismissal of anything remotely straight or involving women is not okay.

Also, the way some of you dumb down and oversimplify Soap’s character is disrespectful as hell. He’s a highly trained special forces soldier in the elite SAS. He’s also very intelligent—he’d have to be, considering his expertise in demolitions, which requires sharp mathematical and scientific skills. The UK’s equivalent (idk what it is) to something like the US’s ASVAB would show this man scoring through the roof; I don’t care, Soap would’ve scored high. And yet, people reduce him to some uwu, ditzy sweetheart who can’t function without Ghost, like his entire existence is just to be shipped with him (or other characters). He’s a fully realized character, not a one-dimensional accessory to someone else’s story who slobbers over Ghost like some empty-headed dog chasing a bone. Like wtf.

Every day in this COD fandom, I fight the urge to comment on people's posts, asking them to please tag an x reader fic as fem!reader instead of just x reader. Because it's clearly fem!reader (they use feminine terms to reference/address Reader) and tags exist for a reason.

And every day I have to fight the urge because it seems rude, so I have to read every x reader fic and know that it's so, so likely that it's an untagged female reader fic.

This means if a content creator is messaging a minor in an inappropriate or bullying way (in the UK at least) they would come knocking at you door asking for all your personal information, identification, means of contact and be asking questions.

Has that content creator been arrest yet? Nope.

Is cyber bullying/harassment a crime in the UK?

Yes! Under the laws:

Protection from Harassment Act 1997

Malicious Communications Act 1988

Defamation Act 2017

And can even prevent you from getting jobs in the future of your employment wants to look at your social media! Which is legal! (as in they want to make sure you're not a weirdo or anything! They can't deny you a job based on political stuff or opinions on other companies!)

Is messaging a minor inappropriately a crime?

idk about y’all but when i write it’s incredibly self indulgent. i write about what i want to write to satisfy my own sexual creative needs and i think y’all should do the same. you’re not gonna see me throw a fit if i don’t agree with your portrayal of a fictional man with 3 pieces of confirmed lore. if i disagree that much i just won’t read it? i’m not going to rain on your parade and tell you that you should stop doing your creative outlet and sharing your stories bc i don’t agree with how you want to write his character or bc you don’t follow canon.

you wanna portray him as a stone cold and ruthless killer who thirsts for the blood of his enemies? as the big soft uwu boy everyone hates so much? you want him to be 20y/o, 45 y/o, 60y/o? mean, kind, confident, anxious, smart, himbo, reserved, persistent, wholesome, a pervert? you want to strip this man of everything you know totally OOC and just borrow his appearance for a coffee shop AU? it’s okay! chances are there’s other people out there who were craving just the thing you’re cooking.

no one is doing this for a living, we’re all writing fanfiction about our imaginary boyfriends in CALL OF DUTY as a hobby. it’s just not that serious. this goes for all creative fandom works, too.

i’m personally very picky about my fanfiction, but who’s silly little problem is that? that’s my silly little problem. i’m here for the grind, the chase, the dig. too weak to handle scrolling back 100 pages on ao3 just to find the perfect strangers to enemies to friends to lovers 100k word porn with plot with accurate character potrayal you were looking for? you might be in the wrong business if you can’t handle the hunt, my friend.

y’all are making free content for us to consume. that’s more than enough, and the priority at all times should be to make sure you’re having fun writing. I’d rather you all share your OOC goofy little fics that you felt motivated and inspired to write than a canon friendly story you had to force yourself to get through for our sake.

anyway i’ll go to bat for fic writers any day of the week.

tldr; don’t ever let anyone dictate how you express yourself creatively, give yourself permission to go nuts like a 6 yo old with paste, glitter, and elbow macaroni. free yourself from the weight of the chains of creative stifling and see how close to the sun you can girlboss. let us seethe at the hands of your raw muse.
