Anyone fancy a beanie test knit? It's such a long time since I started working on this pattern, but I finally had the chance to get the design written and am nearly ready to go. The hat is cabled, and worked in the round using Aran weight yarn and 2 sizes of needle (5 & 5.5mm, which if memory serves is US8 & 9). Both of these hats were knit in Drops Nepal. One size is given (Adult) with suggestions on modifying for a larger or smaller hat. Ideally I'd like 2 testers; what I am mostly checking is whether the sections where you have to move the stitch marker to accomodate the cabling are easy to follow. Second iteration of this hat is finished. If you ignore the ends that need to be woven in. Which I am of course doing. Made this one just a smidge shorter to see which way I like it better. Here is the second hat I designed using @sionnachyarns beautiful new Aran base (which is coming soon). I called this one the Burren Beanie, in a nod to Sionnach Yarns' location 🙂 Would anyone fancy test-knitting it? It's quite a quick knit, as the pattern repeats over 8 rows (and 8 stitches). The good news: this turned out exactly how I hoped it would! It’s wonderfully slouchy. The cables are pleasing and nicely dispersed. @brooklyn.yarns worked out the dyeing wonderfully. The bad news: I cast on the brim too loosely 😭 my choices are to attempt some shrinking in the dryer (risky) or make a new brim, removing the old one, and grafting on the new one (labor intensive). Sigh. Once I’ve gotten over my disappointment, I’ll suck it up and go with Option 2.
