Marry You
Summary: Garreth proclaims to anyone and everyone, including you, that he is going to marry you one day – despite the fact that you haven’t even agreed to court him (not that he's asked). Set during 5th year. It was supposed to be a bunch of short drabbles. One of them got out of hand (oops).
Garreth Weasley x Gryffindor F!MC
A/N: I added Garreth to DADA b/c in the game he only has like 2 classes with MC. It’s a crime that they didn’t give him the same schedule as Leander, honestly. You know those idiots would be besties and take all the same classes.
Warnings: none, pure fluff for a change, pining, *slight* Seb bashing if you squint but really he's just his moody self
Word Count: 6330
To Imelda
Garreth was elated when you handed him the fwooper feather. “Brilliant! This is going to take a moment to brew. You should get back to brewing your Edurus Potion, and I’ll tell you when this concoction’s finished.”
“Don’t keep me waiting too long,” you replied before leaving to work on your own potion. Garreth watched you walk away with stars in his eyes.
Imelda came up beside him. “Causing trouble again, Weasley?” she asked.
Garreth jumped at the girl suddenly so close to him. “Just getting started. I think I’ve got a partner in crime now,” he said.
“Oh?” she asked, raising an eyebrow. “Dragging that new fifth-year into your schemes, are you?”
He gave her a cheeky smile. “I may be dragging her into my schemes, but I’d let her drag me anywhere,” he said.
Imelda scrunched up her face in disgust at the mushy proclamation. “Ugh! Down boy,” she said. “You’ve only just met the poor girl.”
He sighed dreamily as he watched you work across the room. You seemed to have a knack for potions like he did. “Maybe, but I’m gonna marry her one day,” he said, imaging a future running a shop in Hogsmeade or Diagon Alley with you.
Imelda rolled her eyes at the dramatic boy. “Whatever you say, Gryffindor,” she said before walking off.
When his potion sparked out wild fireworks, he caught your eye in the chaos. You looked thoroughly amused, and he couldn’t help but feel that the potion had been a resounding success if it got you to smile that way. He did feel a bit guilty that he had gotten you in hot water with Sharp, but the ex-auror didn’t seem too fussed about things.
To Sebastian
Garreth was enamoured when you knocked Sebastian on his ass. Again. You were all duelling in Defense Against the Dark Arts class, and Professor Hecat seemed to enjoy seeing the Slytherin knocked down a peg as much as Leander did since she paired you and Sebastian together a second time. Garreth cheered even louder than Leander for you, and you gave the dorky pair a little salute.
Personally, though, Garreth had never had an issue with his fellow freckled classmate. He was friendly, had a good sense of humour, and enjoyed helping other students with their studies – or, at least, he used to before his sister was cursed. They had even teamed up on a prank here and there over the years. So, when Garreth saw the way the brunet looked at you, he had one thought as he smirked to himself: Game on.
You helped Sebastian back to his feet. “Nice job,” he said. “All your extra practice is paying off.”
You shrugged. “I suppose so,” you agreed. “You’ve been improving, as well, though.”
“I’d like a fair fight sometime. Get to use all my tricks,” he said. “Though, I could show you one or two beforehand if you’d like.”
You smiled slightly. “I might be interested,” you replied.
“I’ll be in touch, then,” Sebastian said with a smirk. He brushed himself off as he walked back to Ominis.
You walked back to your fellow Gryffindors. “Godric himself would be proud,” Leander said as Garreth gave you a congratulatory hug.
From across the room, Sebastian eyed the redhead as he embraced you. Garreth caught him watching and sent him a wink and a cheeky grin.
“That was bloody brilliant!” Garreth said as he let go of you.
“Thanks,” you said, beaming at him.
Leander resisted the urge to roll his eyes as his curly-haired friend seemed to dominate your attention and vice versa. He busied himself talking to Andrew. You and Garreth started talking about your recent encounter with a kneazle den out in the forest, barely noticing your friend’s absence. Soon, though, Professor Hecat stole you away to talk about an extra assignment.
Garreth took the opportunity to saunter over to the Slytherins. “You put up a good fight,” he said to Sebastian.
“Thanks,” he replied before cutting to the chase. “So, you and MC seem pretty cozy.” Sebastian had always been the jealous type.
“I should hope so,” Garreth replied. “I am going to marry her, after all.”
Sebastian raised an eyebrow at that. Weasleys were a known pure-blood family, but most of them weren’t those kinds of pure-bloods that had their children pledged to suitors from a young age.
Ominis gave the Gryffindor a pitying expression, though Garreth didn’t notice as Sebastian spoke up at the same time. “Didn’t realize your family was into that sort of thing. Arranged betrothals and whatnot,” he said.
“Oh, no, we’ll marry for love,” Garreth said confidently.
“Wait, so are you even engaged?” Ominis asked.
Garreth laughed. “No, of course not! We’re fifteen,” he replied. “Well, I’ll be sixteen next month.”
“So, are you courting?” Sebastian asked.
“Not yet,” Garreth said simply.
Sebastian narrowed his eyes at the ginger. “So, what you’re saying is, you have no actual claim to her,” he said.
Garreth shrugged, looking unbothered. “I may not have any official title yet, but I wanted to give you fair warning not to fall too hard for her.”
Sebastian laughed. “Yeah, thanks, mate,” he said sarcastically. “What makes you so certain she’d choose you, anyway?”
Garreth smirked at him. “I just am.”
He let that be his final word, as he saw you walking away from Professor Hecat. Sebastian just gaped at the overconfident boy as he left. “Gryffindors,” he grumbled.
“You do realize that includes MC,” Ominis pointed out.
Sebastian rolled his eyes. “Oh, shut it.”
To Leander
Garreth overheard you telling Professor Shah that you didn’t have a telescope. He was disappointed when she paired you with Amit before he could offer. He felt a pang of jealousy when Amit offered his old telescope to you. He tried to refocus on the stargazing he was supposed to be doing. Leander was struggling to find Sirius. He helped his best friend before they hurried downstairs, seeking the warmth of the castle.
On the way down, he overheard Amit asking you to go out to an astronomy table with him. The small pang of jealousy he felt earlier bloomed into anguish. Was Amit really trying to earn your affections? He expected to have to compete with Sallow, but he felt bad at the idea of stealing you away from the good-natured Ravenclaw. Not bad enough to back off, of course, but still.
He and Leander walked all the way back to the Gryffindor common room. Garreth flopped into an armchair with a huff.
Leander raised an eyebrow at him. “What’s got you so worked up?” he asked.
“Amit’s trying to flirt with my future wife,” Garreth grumbled.
“Oh, not this again,” Leander muttered to himself.
“Yes, this again,” Garreth replied firmly. “I’m serious, Lee. She’s the one.”
Leander just shook his head in amusement. “Yes, you’ve made that very clear,” he said. “And why is it you think Amit is trying to steal her affections?”
“You didn’t hear him?” Garreth practically yelled. He jumped to his feet and started pacing. “First, he was all, ‘Oh, let me adjust the telescope for you.’ Then he just gave her his old telescope. And then, he invited her out exploring the grounds to go find an astronomy table.”
“He might as well have proposed right then,” Leander replied nonchalantly, still reclining lazily on the couch and biting back a smirk.
“I know! I–” Garreth started, but he paused, spinning around to face Leander. He glared at the taller boy. “You’re mocking me.”
Leander let the smile break onto his face. “A bit,” he admitted. “Gar, Amit is just friendly. He’d give an Ashwinder the shirt off his back if they said they were cold. You’re reading too much into it.”
“Am I?” Garreth asked seriously, putting a hand on his hip as he eyed his friend.
“Yes,” Leander replied equally seriously. “And, with all due respect to your undying love, you barely know MC. What if you’re not compatible? What if she wants to move to Peru or something when she graduates? What if she doesn’t want kids?”
Garreth shrugged. “I don’t need kids,” he said.
Leander rolled his eyes. “Have you met your family?” he asked. “And you practically knocked me into the Black Lake jumping into my arms when you got the owl saying your brother and his wife are having a baby.”
Garreth blushed at the memory. “Okay, but they’re out snuggling up in the cold to go look at the stars,” he whined.
“Your brother and his pregnant wife?” Leander asked.
Garreth let out a frustrated groan. “No, MC and Amit! Keep up, Lee! There’s no chance he’s not trying to woo her in such a romantic setting. They’ll probably be out all night, knowing MC. They’ll cozy up as they watch the sunrise and kiss just as the sun peaks out over the horizon.”
“Ah, you’re back to the whole Amit thing,” Leander observed.
“He’s probably got his arms around her right now to ‘help’ her focus the telescope,” Garreth said. “Maybe I should go out there and–”
Garreth fell silent at the sound of the portrait creaking open. He was glad he did when he saw you stepping into the common room. “You’re home early!” he said. He had meant to say it in a cool, casual tone but ended up shouting it in excitement, instead.
“Am I?” you asked, giving him a confused look. “I didn’t know I had an appointment.”
“Well, I just heard Amit invite you out stargazing and figured you’d be gone a while,” Garreth blurted out. Leander smacked a hand over his face as he shook his head at his moronic friend.
“Oh,” you said. You shrugged. “The table was just on the castle wall. It didn’t take long to find.”
“Do you want kids?” Garreth asked, stunning both you and Leander.
You looked at him with wide eyes. “Right now?” you asked. “Because I’ll have to pass, thanks.”
Garreth’s face flamed with embarrassment. “Merlin, no, that’s not what I…Not now, just…in the future. Possibly. I mean, do you like kids?” he corrected.
“Oh. Yeah, one day. I love kids,” you replied.
“Great!” he said before he could stop himself. “Because, um, my brother is having a baby soon, and I’ll have to do a lot of babysitting. I might need a hand, and Lee here is useless with kids, so…”
Leander glared at him, and Garreth just gave him an apologetic smile.
“That sounds fun!” you replied.
Garreth’s eyes lit up. “Brilliant! I’ll reach out if I need assistance, then,” he said with a dopey grin.
“Sounds good,” you said as you made your way toward the stairs up to the girls’ dormitories. “Good night, you two.”
They both wished you a good night. Once your back was turned, Garreth smiled wildly at Leander and mouthed I told you’ rather aggressively at him. Leander just rolled his eyes.
To Poppy
Garreth sprinted down the corridors to reach the faculty tower. He took the stairs up it three at a time, grabbing the handrail to whip sharply around the landings. His legs were on fire by the time he reached the infirmary. He was too out of breath to form a proper sentence when he’d met Nurse Blainey at the entrance.
“Where…How…MC?” he managed between pants as his lungs heaved to get the oxygen his body so desperately needed.
“She’s okay, so just take a moment–” she said, holding up her hands to try to get the boy to pause and catch his breath.
“I need to see her. Please,” he urged.
He looked as if he might burst into tears at any moment, and the mediwitch took pity on the boy. She led him to your bedside. “She’s stable but hasn’t woken up yet. I gave her a sedative so I could change the dressing over a rather painful wound on her leg. It should heal completely in time, though,” she explained as she walked him over.
She held the curtain around your bed back, so Garreth could step inside of it. He gasped when he saw the cuts and bruises on your face and arms. The rest of you was hidden under the blanket, and he could only imagine how much worse it got. Poppy was sitting in a chair on the far side of the bed. Garreth sat down opposite her, pulling the chair closer to the bed while turning it around so he could face the head of the it. He held your hand gently in both of his.
You were a force to be reckoned with, but right now you looked so…fragile.
“What happened?” he rasped, looking over to Poppy.
“We…It happened so fast,” she said, head bowed in shame. “We were fighting a camp of poachers, and a manticore sprang out of their tent. It had a collar of goblin metal they used to control it. It attached her, scratching her, and biting her leg.” She dropped her face into her hands. “Merlin, her scream.” Poppy winced at the memory.
“A manticore?” Garreth repeated in disbelief. “Godric’s heart, I’m glad it didn’t sting her!”
“It almost did, but I cast depulso and knocked it off of her,” she said. “I just wish I’d reacted sooner.”
“Hey,” Garreth said gently as he held a hand out to her across the bed. She sheepishly took it as she finally raised her eyes to look at him. “You saved her life. I can’t thank you enough for that.” He gave her hand a reassuring squeeze and smiled gently at her.
“O-oh. Are you two…? I mean, I didn’t realize you were more than friends,” she said, pulling her hand out of his grasp and linking it with the other one in her lap. She trained her gaze on her hands rather than the boy sat across from her.
“We’re not. Not yet, anyway,” Garreth said as he looked at you with a fond smile on his face. He turned back to Poppy with a devilish grin. “Make no mistake, though, I’m gonna make her my wife one day.”
“Wow. That’s, um, wonderful,” she said, giving him a pained smile.
Garreth chuckled. “I know everyone thinks I’m crazy for saying it, but I really do believe it. She’s captured my heart and soul, this one,” he said.
“She’s a lucky girl,” Poppy said sincerely.
“I hope so,” Garreth replied with a grateful smile. He looked back at you. “I know she hasn’t been here very long, but I don’t know what I’d do if I ever really lost her. I’d have to find a new supplier for all my potion ingredients and everything!” He spoke sincerely until the last sentence.
You let out a groan as you rubbed your head with the hand Garreth wasn’t holding. “I think I’m gonna have to close shop for a week or two,” you croaked out.
Garreth chuckled. “All the cute things I said, and you wake up for that part?” he teased.
You gave him an apologetic smile. “Sorry, Gar,” you said. “I’ll try to time it better next time.”
The sincerity in your voice nearly broke his heart. He reached a hand up to stroke your cheek. “Hey, no, I was just joking,” he said sweetly. “But there better not be a ‘next time,’ and I’m very serious about that. No more close calls like this.”
You nodded your head slowly. Your eyes were half closed. “That sounds good to me,” you said.
He managed a small smile. He’d been a nervous wreck when he heard you were in the infirmary with serious injuries. It was a relief just to talk to you. “Get some rest now, okay? We’ll be here,” he said.
“M’kay,” you agreed with a soft sigh. Your eyes were already closing again, heavy with exhaustion.
Garreth stroked the back of your hand as he carefully watched the bruises on your face fade. It was slow – barely noticeable as it happened – but after a few hours the dark, angry purple marks had shrunk with the remaining areas turned faded hues of yellow and green. He delicately brushed the hair back from your face. Your cuts were now thin lines of new flesh, pink and tender-looking. Garreth traced some of the lines on your arm carefully with his left index finger. His right hand continued to hold yours.
Curfew came before you roused again. Nurse Blainey came to dismiss the students still by your bedside. Poppy stood to leave, but Garreth requested to stay.
“I assure your she’s in capable hands, Mr. Weasley,” the mediwitch said. “I’m afraid visiting hours are over for today. You may come back when they begin tomorrow. After breakfast.”
He had skipped dinner, though he didn’t know how Nurse Blainey had known. The meal had just begun when he got the news of your injury.
Garreth trudged out alongside Poppy. “I’m glad she has someone who cares so deeply for her,” the mousy girl said as they left the hospital wing. “She’s my best friend – and only friend, really – and I want her to be happy.”
Garreth nodded with a pensive look on his face. “Thank you, Poppy,” he said. “I’m glad she’s got you to watch her back out there.”
She gave him a tight smile and a nod. She still felt responsible.
They parted once they left the faculty tower, heading to their separate common rooms. Garreth had a fitful night sleep before getting out of bed before the sun was up. He ate a rushed breakfast before returning to the hospital wing. You were sat up in the bed, eating your own breakfast from a tray set over your lap. You smiled when you saw him approaching.
“If it isn’t my favourite customer,” you said with a smirk.
Garreth rolled his eyes playfully. “How is it that was the only thing you got from my visit yesterday?” he asked.
You chuckled. “I was heavily medicated,” you replied with a shrug. You shifted to sit toward the left side of the bed, grimacing as you pulled your right leg over.
Garreth lunged forward to help when he saw your pained expression, but it was gone in an instant. You patted the newly open spot on the bed next to you. He carefully sat down, keeping an eye on your leg so he didn’t bump it.
“So, what else did you say when you came to visit?” you asked. “I have it on good authority it was quite cute.”
Garreth’s cheeks flushed. “Just, um, that I was very relieved you were okay and wouldn’t know what I’d do without you.”
“Yes, well, it would put a damper on our marriage if I was dead before it began,” you joked.
Garreth just gave you a shy smile.
You had known for a while how Garreth liked to tell people he was going to marry you one day. You thought it was funny and would join in on the joke from time to time. You took it as a compliment. He usually tied it to some praise of your skill, whether in combat, on a broom, or brewing potions. He had a flare for the dramatic, so you didn’t read too much into it. You’d heard him tell Leander he could kiss him when the taller boy had bought him a set of rare potion ingredients for his birthday.
Garreth was warm and affectionate, but he didn’t show signs that there was real weight to his jests. There were no intense stares or lingering touches like there were with a certain Slytherin. He was affectionate with you but not in an intimate way. He would give big bear hugs and would sometimes grab your wrist to drag you somewhere exciting. However, he never rested his hand on your lower back as he led you somewhere nor held your hand. Well, last night was an exception. You were fairly certain that when you had awoken last night, he had been holding your right hand, while Poppy had held your left.
Poppy. You two had become fast friends. She was the reason you wouldn’t entertain his affections even if you had thought them genuine. She had quite the crush on the kind-hearted ginger. She’d fallen for him shortly after you introduced them. She gushed about him constantly. You could never hurt her like it would if you started courting Garreth. She would be devastated.
“How are you feeling?” Garreth asked. His brow was furrowed with worry.
“As well as can be expected. The bastard took a nice chunk out of my calf,” you explained. “Human face but wicked sharp teeth, apparently.”
He looked at you with sad eyes. “Nurse Blainey said you’d recover fully. It that still true?”
You nodded. “Far as I know.”
“Good.” He bit his cheek as his hands fidgeted with the edge of the blanket. He put on a brave face before looking back at you. “And until you’re 100%, I’ll be by your side. Whatever you need.”
You couldn’t help but smile. He really was the sweetest boy you’d ever met. “I think I’ll be more than taken care of between you and Poppy,” you said fondly. “Speaking of, it’s cute that you two stayed with me together last night.”
Garreth gave you a puzzled look. “Cute?” he asked.
You gave a noncommittal shrug and forced your smile to broaden into a playful grin. “Yeah, I mean, I think it’s sweet. You two are just cute together.”
Garreth was really baffled now. Together? he thought. He and Poppy had hardly been ‘together.’ They sat on opposite sides of your bed, tending to you. Did you think he fancied Poppy? He was confused how you could. He thought he’d been rather obvious in his affections for you, while always trying to be respectful.
“Oh,” was all he managed to say.
You couldn’t tell if he didn’t like Poppy back or was just being shy about his feelings. So, you decided to probe a bit. “Have you ever thought about asking her out?” you said, attempting nonchalance.
“Erm, no. I can’t say I have,” he replied honestly. He swallowed a lump in his throat. He didn’t claim to know much about girls, but he was fairly certain they didn’t try to set up boys they fancied with their friends. “Do you…think I should?”
You blinked rapidly. You didn’t know what you thought. He and Poppy seemed a good fit. They were both so bubbly. You couldn’t imagine they’d be anything but happy together. But the imagine made you curiously sombre. “Well…” you started, unsure how you would finish the sentence.
Nurse Blainey pulled back the curtain. She scowled at Garreth sitting in your bed.
“Mr. Weasley,” she said sternly. “If you could step out, I need to examine my patient.”
He quickly did as told. Blainey changed your bandages on your leg, and he could tell two things from the stifled noises you made. The first was that you were in more pain than you let on. The second was that you were trying to hide it for his sake. That was only further confirmed when Blainey let him back in. You were smiling wide, but your knuckles blanched with how hard you were gripping the sheets.
“Has she had anything for pain today?” Garreth asked the mediwitch timidly.
“No, she’s refused the pain potion since she woke up,” Nurse Blainey replied.
He shot you a stern look. “She’s obviously in pain.”
She arched a brow at him. “She’s perfectly capable of requesting the potion herself.”
“I don’t like the potion. It makes me feel foggy,” you told him.
“So?” Garreth asked, a bit irritated by your stubbornness. “You’re recovering. And it’s Sunday. You should be resting, anyway.”
He looked to Blainey for support. “Are you in pain, dear?” she asked you kindly.
“Nothing I can’t handle,” you replied genially, though you gave Garreth a hard glare.
He crossed his arms over his chest. “If you grit your teeth any harder, you’ll shatter them,” he argued. “You’re being ridiculous.”
“I don’t want to sleep all day. I’d rather be able to hang out with you,” you said.
“Well, I don’t want to see you suffer!” he shot back, his voice cracking. He winced at his own volume.
“Mr. Weasley!” Nurse Blainey hissed. “I will not tolerate you yelling at my patient.”
“I’m sorry,” he said earnestly. He sank into the chair beside you, not wanting to draw further ire from Blainey by getting back in your bed. “Please, MC. I don’t like seeing you in pain. I’ll read to you or something while you rest.”
“You wouldn’t be bored?” you asked.
He rolled his eyes as a slight smirk came to his lips. “With you around? Never,” he replied.
“Could I maybe just do a half dose?” you said to Nurse Blainey. “My leg is starting to ache pretty badly.”
Garreth resisted the urge to insist you take a full dose. It was a start, at least.
The mediwitch nodded and fetched the potion.
“Thank you,” he murmured after you downed the liquid.
“Thank you,” you replied. “I should’ve taken it sooner. I was…being stubborn.”
He scoffed. “Yeah, you have a habit of that,” he teased.
You gave him a playful glare.
The sounds of hurried footsteps announced the arrival of a certain two Slytherins. “MC!” Sebastian said. “I just heard what happened. Are you all right?”
“I’m fine,” you assured him. “Blainey said I should make a full recovery.”
Garreth saw you wince as Sebastian wrapped you in a big hug. “Be careful!” the Gryffindor hissed.
Sebastian ignored him. He held your face in both of his hands when he pulled back. For a brief, terrifying moment, Garreth thought the Slytherin was about to kiss you. “No more taking on poachers alone,” the brunette ordered.
“I wasn’t alone,” you argued.
Sebastian side-eyed Garreth before looking back at you. “You still didn’t have proper help. You need to tell me when you’re going to do something dangerous,” he said, still holding your face. “Promise me.”
“Poppy is proper help,” you said defensively. “We’ve been fine every other time. Fought dozens of poachers. The manticore just caught us by surprise. I don’t need you to babysit me, Sebastian.”
Sebastian’s hands dropped to his sides. “You were with Poppy?” he asked.
You nodded.
“Well, I can still help keep you safe. Obviously these poachers are getting more dangerous animals,” he said. “Let me help you.”
“You can’t come running off with us every time. You’ve got Anne to think about. You should stay focused on helping her,” you argued.
Sebastian tensed. “Then stay and help me,” he asked.
You chewed your lip “I…I can’t just stop. Anne’s got you, but no one is stopping these poachers. Poppy and I are the only ones saving those creatures.”
Sebastian’s jaw clenched. “So, you care more about those beasts than Anne?” he growled.
“That’s not what I’m saying!” you insisted.
Sebastian scowled. “That seems like it’s exactly what you’re saying.” Without another word, he stormed out of the hospital wing.
“Sebastian!” Ominis called after him. He sighed when his friend didn’t stop. He rested a hand on your shoulder. “Feel better, MC.”
Ominis pressed a kiss to the top of your head before leaving, as well.
Garreth was seething until he saw the tears slipping down your cheeks and grief gripped him. “Hey,” he said gently, sliding into the bed next to you. He wrapped his arms around you in a gentle embrace. “He’s being an idiot. He’s probably just scared. I’m sure he didn’t mean it.”
You shook your head. “No, he did. He’s always getting upset with us about not doing more for Anne.” You sighed. “I mean, we’ve tried. I just…I don’t know what else to do.”
Garreth was shocked at the treatment from your supposed friend. He had half a mind to track the Slytherin down and try to shake some sense into him. But he knew it was better to stay with you, so he did. You leaned into him as the potion’s effects took hold and the drowsiness set in.
Garreth stayed with you the whole day. Poppy came by later that morning. Leander brought him lunch and a book to read to you. Natty and the other Gryffindors came to visit you in the afternoon. Even Imelda stopped by before dinner. Sebastian came back and apologized late in the evening. He seemed less than pleased to see Garreth cuddled up to you, but he didn’t comment on it.
Garreth helped rush visits along when you would start to get tired and drift off. Blainey was in and out of the curtained-off space throughout the day. She kicked Garreth out when she needed to do dressing changes. She didn’t say anything about Garreth sitting with you in your bed, though. Nor did she kick him out when you both fell asleep to him reading the book Leander had brought.
Blainey released you the next day. Garreth thought it was too soon, but you were eager to get out. He convinced the teachers to let him follow your schedule so he could carry your things for you.
“I could’ve levitated them,” you said.
“You shouldn’t exert your magic, either,” he argued. “Besides, I told you I’d be by your side until you’re all better.”
You blushed at the thought. You had always hoped to find a way to spend more time with him. This wasn’t exactly how you would have chosen to go about it, but you would take it.
To You
The manticore incident had brought you and Garreth closer than ever. Shortly after, Poppy told you she no longer had a crush on the outgoing Gryffindor. No longer holding yourself back, your own feelings for him bloomed. Frustratingly, you felt that you constantly got mixed signals from him. He still had a running joke where he would assert to others that he would marry you one day. However, he never asked you out. Though, on rare occasions, he did hold your hand – grabbing it to drag you off to see his newest brew or to comfort you when you were upset.
Unbeknownst to you, Garreth’s own feelings had grown similarly. He was head over heels for you. But he was scared. The stronger his feelings became, the more terrified he felt that you wouldn’t return them. Leander had to practically shake sense into him that he had better ask you out before someone else did. The taller boy even threatened to ask you out himself if Garreth didn’t soon. The threat almost started a brawl between the best friends until Leander explained that he wasn’t actually interested in you – just trying to motivate Garreth to get his head out of his arse.
So, Garreth came up with a plan. He went to Honeydukes on the next Hogsmeade trip, buying all your favourite sweets. He even added a bottle of his newly-perfected Fizzing Whizzbeer that you’d raved about after trying. He arranged it all in a decorative box and tied a nice ribbon around it.
He brought it to you at dinner. He hadn’t even sat down when he handed it over.
“Thank you,” you said, surprised and a bit confused as you took the present. You were elated, if a bit puzzled, when you saw the contents. “What’s all this for?”
Garreth cleared his throat. “Well, everyone knows we’re going to be married one day. And, mark my words, we will be,” he started. You rolled your eyes at his theatrics but couldn’t help smiling. Everyone else just nodded along, having heard his proclamation many times. Natty was the only one who looked shocked by the news.
“They are betrothed?” she whispered to Leander.
He rolled his eyes. “No, but it’s a long story,” he replied.
She just shrugged.
“So, I figured it was about time I started the formal process. I’d like to court you, MC, if you’ll have me,” Garreth said. He looked exceptionally nervous.
You set the box down on the bench before springing to your feet. You threw your arms around Garreth’s neck. “Of course!” you said.
“Really?” Garreth asked, dumbstruck.
“Definitely!” you assured him.
He wrapped his arms around your waist, lifting you up as he spun around. “Brilliant! Will you go to dinner with me this Saturday?”
You beamed at him as your feet returned to solid ground. “That sounds lovely.”
Natty gave Leander a confused look. “I thought they started courting months ago,” she said.
“Yeah, you would think, wouldn’t you?” he replied with a chuckle.
To Your Dad
Garreth shifted his weight from foot to foot nervously. He checked his hair in the glass of the tavern window for the eight time. It wasn’t the first time he was meeting your father. They first met three years ago when Garreth visited you over the summer between fifth and sixth years. When the door to the establishment opened and he spotted the familiar broad shoulders and greying hair, Garreth immediately stood up.
“Garreth, my boy, good to see you,” your father greeted genially.
Garreth shook his hand. “You, as well, sir,” he said. “I’m glad you were able to meet today.”
“So, what brings you out to my neck of the woods?” your father asked as he took his seat.
Garreth could feel the heat rising in his collar, and your dad had to hold back a smile. He had strong suspicions on why the young man had reached out.
“Well, sir, I wanted to discuss some things with you about the future,” he said. “Of course, I asked you to join me for dinner. I don’t want to get too bogged down in the details on empty stomachs.”
“Oh, nonsense,” your father replied, waving him off. “Let’s hear these plans.”
“Right,” Garreth said, a bit shellshocked. “Well, sir, I’ve just finished my apprenticeship with J. Pippin. I took a job with a potioneering company in London, where I intend to stay until I’ve saved enough to start my own shop. I’ve just purchased a home in Marylebone, where I hope to settle down, you see.”
“London’s a far way from Plymouth,” your father interjected gravely, unable to help himself.
Garreth swallowed thickly. “It is,” he agreed. “Though, it’s within floo range.”
“Quite right,” your dad agreed with a slight smile. “Sorry to interrupt, lad. You were saying about settling down.”
“Your daughter and I have been discussing our plans. We’d quite like to settle down together. That is to say, we intend to marry–”
“Do you, now?” you father interjected again. His brow was arched.
Garreth nodded, steeling his nerves. “I haven’t proposed yet, of course,” he continued, and your father visibly relaxed. “But, like I said, we’ve discussed it, and I feel quite certain she would say yes. I wanted to meet today to ask for your blessing.”
Your father smiled. “Yes, I thought that might be the case,” he said. “My daughter, my only child, is quite an exceptional young woman, as you’re aware.”
“I am,” Garreth agreed as worry began to set in.
“Not just for her rare magic. She has many talents. And she’s quite driven.” He levelled Garreth with a rather frighteningly intense gaze. “I have very high standards for the man with whom she endeavours to spend her life.”
“Of course, sir,” Garreth said, trying not to feel crestfallen.
“I dare say she’ll need a man of equal ambition to keep up with her,” he said. “Though, he must still put his family first. I would never condemn her to a marriage with someone less than madly in love with her. And, indeed, I would do everything I could to prevent such an unfit union. I assure you, I am not an adversary to be taken lightly.”
Garreth had prepared himself for the possibility that your father would not give his blessing, but he had not foreseen him actively trying to prevent your marriage.
“I don’t think any man fully capable of deserving my daughter, though I am aware that I am biased on the matter,” your dad continued without giving Garreth a chance to speak. “However, I don’t think I could have hand-picked a better partner for her than she has chosen for herself.”
“I’m sure I can’t fault you for feeling that way, sir. I–” Garreth broke off as the meaning of the sternly spoken words sunk in. He gaped at your father briefly before collecting himself.
A grin broke out on the older man’s face. “I’d be honoured to have you in the family, son.”
Garreth stood, shaking your father’s hand again. He pulled his future son-in-law into a hug. “Thank you, sir. I know it’ll mean a lot to MC to have your blessing,” Garreth said.
Your dad clapped a hand on his shoulder. “Well, it means a lot to me that you care for her so deeply,” he replied. “You’re a good man, Garreth. Even if you were a bit of a scamp at school.” He winked.
Garreth’s cheeks flushed. “Yes, well, I’ve come to have a certain respect for the rules these days.”
Your dad chuckled. “That’s good to hear,” he said. “I got into my fair share of trouble at Hogwarts back in my day. And I know my daughter took after me.”
Garreth laughed. “She certainly has an adventurous spirit.”
Your dad shared some stories about the hijinks he’d gotten up to in school as they shared a meal. Garreth was glad he’d gotten the asking done before eating, as his stomach settled considerably. He couldn’t wait to tell you that your dad gave his blessing. More than that, he couldn’t wait to propose. But, most of all, he couldn’t wait to finally make you his wife like he swore he would years ago.

Main Masterlist | The Marauders Masterlist
Sirius had been messing with you all damn day, he only did it because he liked to tease Remus about how you always ran to him when Sirius or James(or anyone in general)bullied you, but today you weren’t having it.
Remus was reading a book in the common room when he heard distant yelling approaching it, he knew that you and Sirius were probably arguing of something stupid, but decided not to say anything because he really didn’t care.
“Godric, Y/N! you’re so annoying!i’m going to fucking strangle you!” Sirius yelled at you as you two entered the common room, Remus’s popped his head up from his book and was going to say something before you interrupted him and spoke against Sirius.
“What if i was into that?” you said to Sirius crossing your arms, making him blush and groan.”Moony! get your girlfriend!” he yelled at the tall male who was blushing heavily on the couch in front of the fire place, his book in his lap while he covered his mouth with one hand.
“Remmy?” you call out in confusion, tilting your head slightly at his silence.
~~~~~~
Remus’s roommates were out at the quidditch game for the next hour so he had you all to himself.
“F-fuck, Remmy!” you moan as he thrusted into you, one of your hands gripping the bedsheets the other was on his back scratching at it and leaving claw marks.
“S’much! c-can’t take it!”you gasp, your moans and gasps were almost pornographic. “shh..s’okay dove, you can take it. Just one more f’me, okay? be a good girl for me..”he cooed pressing a soft kiss to your head as he thrusted into you softly but fast, smiling as you gave him a soft nod followed by a moan.
Remus wanted to try something, he wrapped his hand around your neck as he fucked you. Your back slightly arching off the bed and the hand on his back digging into his skin was now holding onto the wrist of the hand on your neck.
Remmy!
Remmy!
“Remus!” you said snapping your fingers in front of his face to snap him out of his trance.
“Wha-what? Sorry Dove— i wasn’t listening.”He admitted shyly looking at Sirius then to you who was by his side holding his arm in worry.
“i asked if you were okay. You seemed like you were lost for a moment.” you say rubbing his temple, making him smile.”M’fine love. just got distracted.” He said clearing his throat.
“i notice..”you trail off, your eyes wander down to his bulge in his pants that is slightly being covered by his book(only covered from Sirius).
“Need help, love?” you whispered as you tease him, licking your lips slightly making him blush once more before nodding slightly.
“Well, i’m tired. Remmy’s gonna walk me to my dorm, I’ll see you tomorrow, Sirius. Sorry about our argument today.” you say helping Remus stand up covering him slightly to hide his bulge.
“Yeah, me too, Y/N. Goodnight Y/N, night moons.” The dark haired Gryffindor said before headed up to his dorm. Once Sirius was out of sight, you turn to Remus.
“Come on, rem. My poor baby needs help.”you tease him as you lead him to the stairs of the girls dormitory, walking up to your (suspiciously and totally not planned) empty dorm.
Godric sorriu, um sorriso sedutor e enigmático, como um convite para um mundo obscuro e proibido. "Quem sabe, não ironicamente, tente viver de uma maneira mais saudável. E quando digo saudável, quero dizer, seja você mesma, coma o que tiver que comer e esqueça todo esse drama." Sussurrou o demônio, com uma aura cativante. Seu passado sombrio não era motivo de orgulho, repleto de atrocidades que somente ele conhecia, mas ali estava ele, pronto para mergulhar em outra história e assim, até o fim dos tempos. Ele deixou-se ser empurrado por ela, suas costas colidindo suavemente contra a parede. "Ei, cuidado. Sabe o trabalho que me deu achar esse corpo." Reclamou com um tom brincalhão, mas a animosidade logo deu lugar  fascinação diante da curiosidade da vampira. "Podíamos enlouquecer juntos, huh? Pelos velhos tempos ou agora você só se importa com aquele clã chato? Não precisa deles, sabe disso.'' Provocou, aproximando-se por trás dela com uma ousadia irresistível. Seus olhos amarelos faiscavam de interesse, e a presença dele era como um convite para um mundo onde o proibido se entrelaçava ao prazer. "Callie, caralho, já se passou décadas e você ainda está nesse drama todo? Acorda pra vida ou pra morte, não há nada que você possa fazer pra mudar o que passou." Murmurou com uma sinceridade brutal. As palavras dele, ainda que duras, continham uma verdade incontestável. A imortalidade podia ser uma maldição, e o fardo do passado era pesado. Mas, ao mesmo tempo, o demônio percebia a singularidade dela, a beleza de sua existência vampírica. "Convenhamos, o cara nem era tão especial assim, a melhor coisa sobre ele, era você." Afirmou com uma intensidade ardente, como se sua presença no mundo fosse o verdadeiro tesouro a ser valorizado.
xgodricx:
Uma expressão de descontentamento atravessou rosto do homem ao perceber o mal humor de Callie. Embora entendesse a natureza volátil da vampira, não compreendia o porquê de ele estar envolvido naquela situação. “Tente milênios.” Retrucou ele, reclinando-se contra a parede, seus olhos observando cuidadosamente a figura da vampira. Ela parecia bem e sem qualquer ferimento aparente. “Você está assustada com umas mortezinhas, Callie? Que isso, fome?” Provocou, um sorriso travesso surgindo em seus lábios. Godric conhecia a vampira tempo o suficiente para saber que o verdadeiro problema dela provavelmente residia em sua insatisfação com sua dieta alimentar peculiar. Ela era uma criatura imortal, mas ainda era vítima das necessidades do corpo que a mantinha viva, mesmo que à sombra da noite eterna. “Não há nada para contar, só vim até aqui para ver se você tinha cedido à pressão.” Explicou ele, desvendando o motivo de sua visita. Seus interesses eram intrínsecos à sua natureza demoníaca. Godric se sentou, soltando o ar pela boca.
“Eventualmente chegarei lá, me dê dicas de como aguentar” ela murmurou seguindo de um suspiro breve, enquanto os olhos percorriam o demônio, que parecia intacto. “Não estou assustada por mim.” não se importaria de morrer, ela achava. Nunca temeu a morte, não quando ela parecia perder os motivos de seguir vivendo. Qual era seu propósito? Pra que continuava vagando? Não sabia.O sorriso de canto surgiu quando ouviu a palavra fome e automaticamente, com uma velocidade sobrenatural, o empurrou contra a parede, as presas aparecendo, como se ameaçasse uma mordida. “Estou sempre com fome" ela murmurou, antes de o soltar novamente e se sentou na cama, olhando pra ele. "Quero saber o que houve, faziam anos que não via algo tão escancarado assim." ela observou ele respirando e balançou a cabeça "Não cedi a nada ainda, mas sinto que estou prestes a enlouquecer" ela murmurou, desviando os olhos dele e se levantando mais uma vez. Apoiou-se sobre a mesa comprida, diante de um espelho, e observou seu reflexo. "Acha que eu posso estar atraindo a morte ou algo assim?"
Godric não escondia sua aversão pelos caçadores, apesar de ter buscado uma evolução pessoal na última década. Ainda assim, o ódio pelos intrometidos persistia, sempre querendo bisbilhotar, como se eles não fossem a escória do mundo. Talvez ele tivesse muito a melhorar, mas era melhor manter as aparências e agir com cordialidade. ''O lugarzinho é aconchegante, sempre bom passar as férias com meus amiguinhos, torturar almas, é apenas o que eu sou.'' Sua resposta veio com um riso sarcástico, demonstrando sua natureza sombria sem remorsos. Subiu com facilidade para se sentar, o gesto parecendo quase etéreo. ''Então, muitos segredinhos guardados nesse cemitério ou você está apenas queimando ossos?'' Sua pergunta carregava um tom provocativo, como se estivesse desafiando o caçador. O demônio estava à vontade em seu domínio, seu olhar faiscando com uma mistura de curiosidade e malícia.
Javier não gostava de cemitérios. Talvez por isso tenha escondido seu antigo arsenal no cemitério de Ardare. Era o último lugar que ele esperava voltar e lá estava ele, com uma pá em uma mão e a outra preparada para sacar o revolver no coldre caso fosse necessário. Droga, queria pegar suas coisas e ir embora o mais rápido possível.
Percebendo um certo movimento, Javier começou a avançar com mais cautela. Nada de bom acontecia em cemitérios. Quando a face do estranho foi revelada, a voz do demônio imediatamente o irritou. "Tentando voltar para o inferno, Demônio? Eu conheço um jeito mais fácil."
Você não está aí para isso, Javier. In and out, remember? Começou a cavar a cova ao lado direito do demônio de olhos amarelos. Sua ansiedade estava começando a bater mais forte. Por que o demônio estava cavando a sepultura ao lado da que ele pretendia cavar? Será que ele nunca mais teria um momento de paz?
So the situation in Space Oddity is of course an ugly mess for Aro because of all the complicated relationship and situational dynamics at play. Judging from your other metas, it feels like Tom saying he doesn't want to turn is mostly out of concern for Lily's feelings (the rest being negative first impressions). So if it was him alone, I feel he'd eventually agree to join the Volturi (not as much instinctive repulsion to vampirism, doesn't believe a way home is possible, attachments are more easily manipulated by Chelsea when the people aren't physically there).
But how would Lily alone, Lily with Harry, or Tom and Lily without Harry play out in terms of how much luck Aro has in getting anyone to turn?
Space Oddity by me and @therealvinelle and The Man Who Would Be King by me and @therealvinelle
Does Tom Want to Be a Vampire?
I'm very curious what other metas you mean because the answer is no and pretty much for the reasons he outlined. If you're talking about the one where I said he would like to become a vampire, there's a few key differences there that we'll get into. He likes Lily and all, but if he really wanted to do something he wouldn't sugar coat it or lie about it either.
Honestly, no, he meant every word he said.
The difference between Tom here and Tom in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to London and How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bacchanals is a few key things. In the first, Tom's unbearably lonely and feels he's living a pointless life where he'll never amount to anything or do much of anything. Suddenly, a very exciting person is there with a mysterious mystery, to Tom the charm of being a vampire was having companionship and having an exciting new life. In Bacchanals it's similar in that while he has a good friend, he still feels his life is quite dull.
Tom in Space Oddity is much older, is convinced his life is great, and most importantly is already immortal. He doesn't have to achieve immortality and when the immortality being offer a) makes him an addict for blood in a way he'll never escape b) he gets the very fun offer of joining someone else's immortal army c) he will physically and mentally change as a person and you have Tom going very :/ even at the promise of more power (and that's very suspicious to him because what the fuck is that supposed to mean.)
Lily becoming a vampire is equally as bad for the same reasons. He'd lose control of his apprentice who would become an addict for human blood and would be inducted into someone else's undead army.
He ain't for it.
(I'm not saying it's not impossible he'd join if isolated, just Marcus and Chelsea would have their work cut out for them.)
Lily Alone
Lily alone is not for it but this is Voldemort 2: Electric Boogaloo, she has no idea how/if she can escape them and when she does try to run they find her very easily. Running more might just piss them off/make them decide she's not worth the risk so maybe better to just... try to strike some kind of a deal.
So we basically get what's been happening in the fic with the bonus of a) a lack of cover b) a lack of baby that prolongs how long they'll wait before turning her c) complete isolation again.
We see in the original fic Lily's relatively good at handling isolation/adversarial environments, she doesn't break with Tom or in Godric's Hollow for all things get very stressful, but here she also has someone who can a) manipulate how she feels about things b) if that doesn't work then there's the guy that sees every relationship she has and can act on that information.
It's not a good situation.
Lily with Harry
See above, but she has a little more time so Harry can grow to a point where he can be turned as well or Lily can let him live his life.
Tom and Lily without Harry
The fic except full throttle as Aro doesn't have to slow down for baby.
O demônio estava inquieto, suas emoções ardiam como brasas sob a superfície gélida de sua expressão. "Não é sobre isso e você sabe, nunca deixaria nada de mal acontecer a vocês." Afirmou com uma ferocidade que revelava sua determinação em protegê-los. "Nunca, entendeu?" Havia um tempo em que a notícia da gravidez alheia o teria perturbado, incitando o medo em seu coração imortal. Pela primeira vez, ele havia sentido uma pontada de apreensão, reconhecendo que suas longas permanências entre os humanos haviam deixado marcas em sua alma ou o que restava dela. Agora, contudo, a bruxa tinha alcançado seu objetivo, não é mesmo? Ele estava ali, inabalável em sua devoção, como uma sombra que jamais a abandonaria. Em tempos remotos, Godric não hesitaria em apagar a vida da mulher que carregava consigo a vida de seu primogênito. Mas agora, algo havia mudado, e as coisas eram diferentes. Era um dilema que o consumia, esse vínculo crescente entre eles, uma força que ele nunca imaginara sentir. As correntes invisíveis do destino os entrelaçavam, e ele se via preso por elos que não podia entender completamente. A paixão escondida em seu interior fervia como lava, atraído por uma bruxa que tinha o poder de domá-lo, mas também de destruí-lo. "Você precisa de mais sangue?" Questionou, preocupado, talvez a gravidez estivesse afetando a magia da bruxa. Porém, suas palavras foram logo interrompidas pelas declarações da mulher. "Irmã?" O mais velho revirou os olhos, desdenhando daquelas tolices. Mas, em seguida, sua expressão endurecida cedeu à calmaria que ela sempre conseguia instigar em suas feições. Ele sentia a curiosidade ardente em conhecer o infante, protegê-lo e, acima de tudo, tê-lo ao seu lado. Aceitando o convite, ele se deitou ao lado dela, a puxando para seu peito musculoso e envolvendo-a em um abraço protetor. "Como você sabe que é um menino?" Questionou, ainda sorrindo, apreciando a proximidade que compartilhavam. "Princesa, você sabe que esse não sou realmente eu, certo?" Ele fez um leve gesto para o próprio corpo, como que indicando que a aparência não era a sua verdadeira essência. "Sou mais um amontoado de carne e fumaça." Explicou, como se ela já não soubesse disso. Afinal, fora a bruxa que o ajudou a escapar de uma de suas temporadas no inferno, buscando o corpo do rapaz que agora possuía. "Eu espero que ele tenha metade da sua determinação." Só isso, pensou ele, já garantiria ao infante a sobrevivência de milênios. O desejo de que seu filho herdasse a força e coragem da mãe era quase palpável, fazendo com que suas palavras ecoassem no ar com um toque de vulnerabilidade que raramente permitia a si mesmo mostrar.
Ele fechou os olhos quase que em transe, amaldiçoando a bruxa por saber conduzir tão bem suas palavras, despertando desejos obscuros dentro dele. Ao se deixar ser conduzido por aquela sedução hipnótica, o leve toque de dedos entre as coxas femininas já o deixava mais do que pronto para possuí-la. "Não." Sibilou, baixinho, lutando contra a intensa atração que sentia. "Eu preciso de você." Era uma batalha interna, um conflito entre o desejo avassalador e a sensação perturbadora de que seu querer já não lhe pertencia mais. Ele odiava essa perda de controle, mas ao mesmo tempo, encontrava prazer na rendição à paixão ardente que a bruxa despertava nele. O homem a envolveu contra si, fundindo seus corpos em um abraço voraz, deixando um beijo leve em seus lábios. Por mais que gostasse da ideia de ceder à tentação, uma sombra pairava em sua mente. Não havia lugar no mundo onde Lilith não o encontraria, e essa certeza o atormentava.
O tempo parecia estar correndo rápido demais, e ele ainda não havia concebido um plano seguro o suficiente para levar a mulher para longe dela. Sacrificaria tudo por eles, entregaria sua própria alma, se preciso fosse. Mas ao mesmo tempo, não tinha certeza de que isso seria o suficiente para mantê-los a salvo de Lilith. "Não se preocupe com isso, eu fico com você esta noite." Ele sabia que não podia dormir, pois não conhecia descanso há séculos. Então, velaria o sono dela, protegendo-a das sombras que o assombravam e dos perigos que os espreitavam.
Não evitou franzir levemente o cenho, preferindo não mencionar que havia sentido a presença alheia no momento em que o filho das trevas havia adentrado no hospital. No mais, sabia que não havia necessidade de se preocupar, ele era provavelmente a criatura mais forte e poderosa que havia conhecido; contudo, ficar contente em sua presença era inevitável. ❛ E dar chance ao azar? Prefiro ficar o mais longe possível dele. Sabe, poderia ser eu a azarada em chamas na praça. ” — Assim que percebeu os primeiros indícios do ataque, não tardou em deixar o epicentro do caos. ❛ Ademais, eu nunca gostei de presenciar massacres. Principalmente agora, ele acha atroz toda essa carnificina. ” — Fez uma breve e silenciosa menção à seu estado, o infante no ventre inquieto desde o começo da noite. ❛ Estava agitado, então preferi seguir pela floresta, minha magia está fraca, mas as runas funcionaram. ” — Não havia necessidade de se explicar para o demônio, mas sentia que devia sempre contar a verdade. ❛ E sua irmã nos fez companhia na caminhada. Ou ela é sua tia? Perdão, a questão do parentesco entre vocês é tão complicado. ” O suposto parentesco utilizado apenas como uma mera provocação, ciente de que aqueles corpos eram meros receptáculos.
Ao sentir o toque alheio, não tardou em entrelaçar os dígitos aos dele, o sorriso de candura em seus lábios ao que aproveitou para aplicar a segunda ampola de relaxante muscular, seu corpo agradecendo o momento de relaxamento. ❛ Ele vai ficar bem, acalmou-se ao sentir vosso toque. Já deve estar dormindo. ” — Ficava encantada com a forma na qual o filho reagia a presença do pai, mesmo ainda dentro do útero. Era uma situação tão singular, Vanya incerta de como seria o futuro dos três. ❛ Fica.” — O pedido, quase uma súplica. ❛ Deita aqui comigo, deixa o mundo pegar fogo lá fora.” — Fez menção para que o mais velho se juntasse na cama hospitalar, felizmente do tamanho adequado para juntar o corpo ao dele. Ao contato, tocou levemente o rosto alheio, sentindo falta da cor tão característica dele. ❛ Espero que o Adam tenha seus olhos. São tão lindos.” — Já havia perdido a vergonha de elogiar os traços de Godric há anos, não era mais necessário fazer joguinhos de sedução. ❛ E o seu rosto. Ele vai ser perfeito. Mas eu gosto tanto dos seus olhos… Foi a primeira coisa que me fez sentir borboletas no estômago que os vi” — Falava em junção ao sedativo que começava a fazer efeito em seu cérebro, mas sem vergonha alguma dos dizeres. ❛ Eu quero você, Meu Rei… ” — De maneira instintiva, levou o rosto a curva do pescoço alheio, tentando inalar o máximo do aroma alheio. ❛ Você me quer, não é? Eu te quero por inteiro, te quero tanto, ser só sua, não dele, nunca dele… ” — Um desejo lascivo imperava seus agires, procurando a canhota do mais velho e a guiando para entre as pernas; Contudo, em súbito, a realidade parece tê-la atingido. ❛ Poderíamos ir embora. Pra bem longe. Eu, você, o Adam, o Thomas, a Millie…” — Sorriu com as próprias palavras, agarrando-se ao corpo alheio como se fosse um doce sonho. ❛ Exagerei? Perdão, é que você tem esse efeito em mim… ” — Tinha que retornar para a realidade, ciente de que lados deveriam ser tomados no conflito que estava por vir. ❛ Mas, no momento… Podemos só ficar aqui. Posso rogar um feitiço de proteção até a tempestade passar. ” —
“James!” you called, trying your best to catch the curly-haired boy. He didn’t turn around but he stopped and you were able to be next to him in two steps. “James,” you said again, grabbing the sleeve of his shirt “please let me explain.”
You both initially were in the Gryffindor common room, playing truth or dare. You chose truth and the next thing you knew you were telling your entire friend group that you had a crush on James last year when you were sitting next to your new partner.
No one expected this, apparently you were good at keeping your feelings to yourself. And it broke your heart a little when James got up with an expression on his face that you couldn’t describe and left the room.
“I’m sorry,” you said. The last thing you wanted was to create an awkward situation between the two of you. Godric, you hated party games. “Just forget what I said, I’m over you now you don’t have to worry about me, I don’t want things to be weird between us now, I never wanted t-”
But as you started to get lost in your words and thoughts, James cut you “I wish I knew.” Now, that was something you didn’t expect. James was maybe the most fast forward person you ever knew, not confessing his love to the person he fancied was not him.
“What?”
“I wish I knew you wanted me. I would have made a move then,” he let out a small ironic laugh, sitting slowly on the floor with his back against a wall. His legs were pressed against his chest as he buried his head in his knees.
You stared at him for a second before sitting next to him. “Why you didn’t tell me anything?” that maybe wasn’t the best question but it was the only thing that crossed your mind.
“Didn’t want to freak you out. You know what happened with Lily” the way his voice was so low, so not James, broke you. You were maybe over him but you still loved him, he was your best friend and you never wanted to hurt him.
“Do you…” the words were hard to pull out of your mouth “Do you still love me?” The following seconds of silence were maybe the longest of your life. You both didn’t speak or move.
“Yeah”
You felt like your mind was exploding. You thought about the things you missed just because you never had the courage to ask him out. It was a weird feeling to describe, as if there was something missing in your heart. But you were over it now, and you couldn’t change the past. “I’m sorry, I-”
“Please don’t make this harder” he almost sounded like he was begging. You didn’t answer anything, feeling your heart aching in your chest when James got up and made sure you didn’t follow him. And as much as you tried to convince yourself of the opposite, you swore you saw a tear on his cheek when he left. You were the reason for his cry, and you couldn’t do anything about it.
my first anon omg 😭 really just happy to find fellow Leander stans because it was starting to feel v lonely out here lmao I'm dying for more Leander fluff, I wish I had a creative prompt but I trust you to come up with one (if you have the time and/or inclination to do so) KTHXBYYYE
Hi!! Thank you for the request!! I always have the time and inclination to write for Leander! I'm so, so glad he's getting more content recently. Hope you like it!!
Sticky Situation
Leander Prewett / gn!Reader 4.8k Words Summary: In an attempt to save Garreth from getting into serious trouble with Professor Sharp, you and Leander cover for him and find yourself in detention together, which leads to a date the following evening. Content Warnings: Fluff and kissing.
~~~
Garreth was down to his final straw with Professor Sharp when his cauldron started to bubble up dangerously close to the rim of the large steaming pot before him. Sharp had instructed the class to brew Draught of Living Death, which of course Garreth was more than proficient at, finishing the assignment before anyone else and bottling it, setting it off to the side waiting to turn it in until the end of class as assigned, with plenty of class time left over for experimenting.
Professor Sharp was in his office when the iridescent bubbles started to finally spill over the rim, with nothing Garreth could do to stop it at this point. His hands trembled as he adjusted the temperature of his flame with his wand, but the damage was already done. He wiped the nervous sweat from his brow on the rolled up sleeve of his uniform shirt and watched as the bubbles spread and coat his station with sticky residue.
“Bloody hell, I’m done for…” He muttered, burying his face in his hands.
You and Leander were stationed on either side of Garreth, and had been deep in concentration on the difficult brew when his panicked voice drew your eyes to him. Both of you watched with mouths agape as the bubbles continued to spread over your own stations. You and Leander scrambled to move your ingredients to safety, but it was useless, the bubbles continued to rise and soon was spilling over the edges of the table and onto the ground.
“Garreth! What in Godric’s name?” Leander chided in a harsh whisper, brows furrowed.
“I’m sorry! I’m so sorry…. Ugh I’m going to get expelled! I’m serious. I’ll miss you both, please remember to write me when I’m transferred to reformatory school.” He was pacing back and forth, eyes darting between his mishap and Sharps office door, just waiting for the professor who was already always in a state of perpetual exasperation to come back out.
Leander scoffed, but his expression softened quickly when he recalled a conversation he had with Garreth after the last time he’d gotten into trouble in class for something that was much less destructive than this was seeming to be. Reformatory school might have been a bit of an exaggeration, but Leander didn’t doubt that Garreth would face severe consequences for this.
“Calm yourself, just act natural, if that’s possible for you.” Leander said and quickly swapped places with Garreth, now standing in front of the continuously sudsing cauldron himself. Garreth started profusely thanking Leander, rambling on about how he really owed him one for this.
You had to back away from the workstation to keep the bubbles – none of which seemed to be popping, only accumulating further – from getting onto your clothes. Your fellow classmates started to take notice, looking on with expressions equally split between amusement and disgust. Whispers and chuckles rose from the work stations surrounding yours as the bubbles continued to flow from the cauldron and onto the floor.
Leander didn’t need to put on much of an act in order to appear convincingly upset with the situation when Professor Sharp reentered the classroom from his office. Silence fell over the entire class, all eyes on Sharp as they waited for him to discover the mess.
It was almost second nature to check Garreth’s section first upon entering the room, but none of the previous potion disasters he’d witnessed in the past could have prepared him for this one. The bubbles were quickly spreading across the floor as Sharp waved his wand, casting a silent spell which halted the bubbles’ migration across the stone floor and popped them all at once, a shiny thick goo bursting from every individual sphere, coating yours, Garreth’s, and Leander’s shoes, as students from surrounding potions stations hopped out of the way.
“Mr. Weasley! I believe you were on your final warning after the last time you disrupted your classmates with your antics.” Professor Sharps voice boomed from across the room. He sounded absolutely furious as he strode towards Garreth, getting a better look at the mess surrounding your stations.
Garreth gestured, eyes wide and pleading, at Leander’s pristine cauldron in front of him. “Sir… I didn’t-” Leander cut Garreth off mid sentence, speaking very matter of factly as he explained the situation. “It was me, Professor. I must have miscalculated something, and then-”
Sharp cut Leander off, holding his hand up in an attempt to save Leander his breath as he lied through his teeth. “Do you really expect me to believe that you caused this mess, Mr. Prewett? You, who notoriously takes every available moment of class time ensuring that things are always brewed correctly?”
“I-I…” Leander stammered. He had really wanted to save Garreth from whatever consequences he’d otherwise face, but Sharp was right, Leander was a model student. Leander was at a loss for words, his usually quick wit failing him in the brooding Professor’s presence.
“It was actually me, Professor. I’m sorry.” You spoke up, seeing that Leander’s attempt at saving Garreth from a fate worse than detention was failing. You were known to get up to some mischief with Garreth and with other classmates of yours, not usually in this class, but the story was more believable than Leander being the one who caused the commotion.
Sharp eyes flickered between the three of you, his gaze lingering the longest on you, your head hung in shame, as you acted the part of the culprit. The rest of the class was silent around you as they watched you take the blame, no one daring to say anything to the contrary.
“Is that true, boys?” Sharp asked, his eyes now searching their faces for the truth.
Garreth only nodded after Leander spoke up in agreement with you. “Yes sir. I was attempting to take the blame for MC. It was them. I apologize for not being truthful initially.” Leander backed up your story, the fact that you were now covering for him sitting heavy in his mind. It was a nice feeling, he couldn’t deny. He had to restrain himself from smiling at your thoughtful gesture.
“That will be a detention for you, MC.” Sharp spoke sternly, his eyes piercing yours, his disapproval palpable.
“Yes, sir.” You nodded, accepting your fate.
“And you as well, Mr. Prewett. For lying in the first place, trying to cover for MC. You will join them in detention after dinner this evening.” Sharp said, disappointment clear in his expression as his eyes bore into Leander. “Now everyone, back to work. I expect to see a perfect bottle of Draught of Living Death from each of you by the end of class.”
Leander’s mouth fell open, he hadn’t expected to still be reprimanded after you had covered for him, but, one detention wasn’t the worst thing that could have happened. And surely, it was far less severe than whatever punishment Garreth would have been dealt.
~~~
That evening after dinner you made your way to the potions classroom promptly at 7:30 and found Leander already there. Professor Sharp came out from his office and looked on each of you with a stern expression, his arms folded in front of his chest. “The two of you will be scrubbing down the work stations, as well as the entire classroom floor.”
He conjured up the necessary cleaning supplies for the two of you – buckets of hot soapy water, as well as clean water for rinsing, several scrub brushes, rags, and a pair of cleaning gloves for each of you. Of course, you’d both be required to clean the muggle way, hands and knees to the cold, rough stone floor.
Professor Sharp collected both of your wands, and set them on his desk in his office, where he informed you he’d be for the duration of the detention. He retired to his office, closing the door behind him, and you and Leander shed your robes and got to work, starting on scrubbing off the tops of the work stations.
You began with the furthest station from the office door, allowing the opportunity to engage in whispered conversation while you cleaned together. Shirt sleeves rolled to elbows, both of you donned the ugly yellow cleaning gloves and got to work removing the layers upon layers of burned on gunk from the table tops beneath the cauldron stands.
You caught Leander staring at you as you scrubbed at the old wooden surface, a rosy blush spreading on his face when you turned your attention towards him. Just watching his cheeks flush made a heat begin to rise in your own.
“Why did you cover for me?” He whispered, trying to hide the grin on his face as he spoke. “I’m sure with a bit more convincing I could have gotten Sharp to believe it was actually me who caused all that mess.”
You noticed the muscles in his forearms flex as he gripped the table edge with one hand for leverage while circling with the scrub brush in the other. You cleared your throat and brought your eyes back to his as you spoke.
“No way. He could see right through your act,” you said with a quiet chuckle. “I just… didn’t want you to get in trouble. And you seemed set on protecting Garreth, and that made me want to, as well.”
“Mhmm… He really would have been in for it. He’s been on thin ice for awhile and that would have shattered it for sure. He’s a bit of a clown occasionally but he doesn’t deserve to be suspended or expelled for it.” He said and swished his brush in the clean water, instantly darkening it, before dipping it again into the soapy water and carrying on with his scrubbing. “Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for the effort, even though we’ve both landed here anyway. You didn’t have to do that.”
You nodded. You admired his friendship with Garreth and the fact that Leander was willing to put himself in the line of fire for his best friend. Him being so selfless was really what lead you to want to help… Maybe it was simply him you admired.
“I know I didn’t have to… But it’s no trouble.” You told him and moved onto the next potions station, scrubbing it and watching it lighten in color before your eyes. You wondered when the last time anyone actually cleaned the surface was.
You worked on each work station together, quietly chatting all the while. This was probably the longest time you’d spent talking with the boy alone. You always enjoyed being sat with him and Garreth in class but you mostly remained quiet while taking in their banter. Scrubbing down the tabletops was not fun, but spending the time with Leander made it a hell of a lot more bearable. Enjoyable, even. You noticed the subtle way the corners of his lips turned upwards when he’d catch you staring. Your heart raced when you noticed him staring back, his gaze lingering on you a little too long to be considered a passing glance as you concentrated on removing a particularly stubborn mark from one of the table tops.
You were onto the last potions station, the two of you saved the worst of them for last, the station the two of you shared with Garreth. The residue from the mishap earlier hardened to a thick, slightly tacky film that coated the entire surface of the table.
By the time you were done scrubbing the table tops together, your face was hot and red, breaths coming quickly, sweat gleaming on your forehead, and Leander looked to be in much the same state. You couldn’t help yourself from getting distracted by how he looked as he leaned back against a table as he wiped the sweat from his brow on his sleeve, then stretched his shoulders out before moving on to the next half of the punishment.
Cleaning the potions stations was the easy part. Scrubbing the floors was grueling, not to mention painful, your knees beginning to ache quickly as you started working on the furthest corner of the room. Leander started on the other side of the room and you met in the middle when finished, where you both sat to catch your breath, sweating and panting, knees and back sore from your efforts.
“You know, I’m regretting covering for you, after this.” You said between harsh breaths. The grin on your face despite your look of exhaustion let him know you were only teasing, no matter how horrid this portion of the punishment was. You pulled your gloves off and wiped your sweating palms on your trousers, Leander followed suite.
He leaned back on his hands, legs splayed out in front of him. “Merlin, I can’t thank you enough for it though. Can you imagine how long this would have taken me to do alone? It’s taken the two of us hours.”
“I think you owe me one for this,” You said, your grin spreading, your eyes locked on him, drinking in the way his hair fell after hours of manual labor. You let yourself stare shamelessly, the blush on your face from the way the mere sight of the boy in front of you made you feel was hidden by the redness that came with the exhaustion of your cleaning efforts.
“Name your price. It’s yours.” He groaned, letting his head hang back, a long and tired sigh escaping his throat before he leaned back up to look at you. He noted the mischievous look on your face as you thought of how he could repay you. He raised a brow in question while you pondered.
You couldn’t very well come out and say the first thing on your mind – a kiss. That would be much too forward. But this was an opportunity, and you didn’t want to waste it. “A butterbeer, maybe two.”
You watched as his lips parted before he gave you a smile that showed his teeth. What a rare sight from him, usually so serious looking in class.
He thought for a few moments before replying. You could almost see the gears turning. He smirked and said, “You know, that sounds wonderful. But I actually think it’s Garreth who owes both of us a few drinks. I can run it past him when I get back to my dorm later.”
Your face fell at his suggestion to involve Garreth in the outing. Leander wasn’t wrong, of course, Garreth did owe you both for coming to his defense earlier. But you wanted to spend more time with Leander. Alone.
“Something wrong?” He asked, noticing your sudden change in expression, his own demeanor getting more serious, a look of concern crossing his face.
Your face twisted in thought, you pursed your lips wondering if it was even worth mentioning to him your actual intentions when it flew over his head the first time round. You sighed and decided you may as well go for it. Your voice was nervous, and quieter than it had been. “While Garreth certainly does owe us both… I was hoping to spend a bit more time with just you.”
Leander’s eyes widened, that lovely smile of his returning, a rosy pink blush rising among the freckles on his cheeks.
“Oh.” He said.
His eyes darted to the ground and he fiddled with his hands a moment before looking back up and meeting your gaze. “That actually sounds a lot nicer. Are you free tomorrow after dinner?”
“Tomorrow?” You nodded. “I am.”
Professor Sharp must have heard the chatter, and emerged from his office, his eyes scanning the classroom, and finding the pair of you sitting on the floor near the door together, the cleaning supplies surrounding you.
“This is detention, not an excuse to fraternize after hours! Get up! Both of you!” He spat, crossing the room to inspect the potions stations. The two of you got up, Leander to his feet first, he extended you a hand to pull you to yours. You savored the warmth of his touch for the few seconds your hand was in his. The eye contact you held as he helped you to your feet and stood in front of him made your breath catch.
You moved to his side, watching Professor Sharp as he inspected your work, he took his time checking every station, then wandered the room, his eyes at the stone floor, making sure no corner was missed.
“Well done.” He nodded at the pair of you in approval of the job completed. “Grab your wands from my desk and get back to your common rooms immediately. No wandering about.”
“Yes, sir.” You said in tandem with Leander. He ducked quickly into Sharp’s office, grabbing both of your wands, he handed yours to you and the two of you left the classroom together.
“I’ll find you tomorrow after dinner then, and we’ll get those butterbeers. We’ve earned them.” Leander whispered as you headed through the corridors side by side. You nodded in confirmation.
You headed to your common rooms, each of your turning in for the night, both exhausted, bodies aching for the hours of cleaning, and both with a smile on, thinking about spending more time together the next evening.
~~~
Garreth had been fast asleep when Leander returned to the dorms from detention, so it wasn’t until the following morning that he got a chance to ask Leander how it had gone.
“What did Sharp have you up to?” He wondered, plopping himself down on the foot of Leander’s bed at the first signs of the other boy waking.
“Bloody hell Gar, can I not take some time to wake up before being subjected to this?” Leander asked groggily, gesturing at the disturbance that was Garreth’s presence.
“Nah!” He waved his friend off. “Were you cleaning and polishing the cauldrons? That’s a favorite punishment of his.” Garreth said, having done this task several times. “I wish.” Leander scoffed. “We had to scrub off all of the stations, and then scrub the entire floor, the muggle way.”
Garreth looked horrified. “That classroom is huge! It’s no wonder I was asleep when you got finished, that must have taken ages!”
“It did. You’re welcome, by the way.” Leander added, sounded a bit more irritated than he meant to. He sat up in bed and rubbed his eyes. He was a typically a morning person, but his body was sore and he had hoped to soak in the comfort of his bed a while longer.
“Oh yeah… I can’t really thank you enough can I? Wild that MC covered for you and you didn’t get stuck at it alone.”
“Yeah… it was, wasn’t it?” Leander grinned with the thought of his conversation with you the night before, remembering his plans to get drinks with you this evening.
Garreth chuckled and shoved his friends leg as he watched his expression shift. He knew that look on Leander, having been around to discuss many a crush with his friend in the past. “Got a feeling they fancy you. They covered for you, not for me.”
Leander blushed and ran his hand through his hair, getting the strands out of his face from his sleep. “I think… that I have a date with them later…” Leander muttered out sheepishly, trying to keep his composure as he explained the previous evenings conversation, including his attempt to include Garreth in the plans for drinks to his friend.
“Ohhhh, they do! Do you fancy them as well? Are you nervous, excited?” Garreth practically buzzed with excitement for his friend. Out of the two of them, it was Garreth who pulled more dates. He was excited that his friend was getting some well deserved attention.
“Uh… Nervous… But I do, yeah. They’re nice, and cute, and…” His voice trailed off and he sighed as he though of you, zoning out, still tired and easily slipping into a daydream.
Garreth shook the other boy’s leg again. “Snap out of it Lee. Focus. You’ve got this. Don’t be nervous. They like you, too. I know it.”
Leander took Garreth’s word for it, replaying every interaction he’s ever had with you while he finally got out of bed to ready himself for the day. Garreth followed him around, continuing to hype up his friend.
~~~
Just as promised, the following evening as dinner was concluding in the great hall, you spotted the tall red head making his way towards you, a little grin on his face as his eyes met yours. He carried himself a little taller when he saw how you smiled back at him.
You were finished eating and just chatting with a few of your house mates when he filled in the empty spot beside you on the bench, straddling it, not intending to remain in the dining hall much longer. He nodded politely at your friends as he joined, and waited for your conversation to wrap up and for you to turn your attention to him before he simply asked, “Ready?”
“I am.” You said and nodded. You excused yourself from your housemates. He got up from the table first and stood by waiting for you to join him. Nervous as he was, he was still a gentleman. He offered you his arm, which you accepted, earning yourself wide eyed looks from your friends as you left the great hall with him.
The walk through the castle was quiet, his nerves seemingly getting the better of him. Once outside of the castle you chatted about the weather as you crossed the grounds towards the path to Hogsmeade.
It was a chilly fall evening, or at least that would be your reasoning for walking so closely to him, your shoulder brushing him as your hands still clutched the arm he’d offered you.
The contact made your cheeks burn and your heart flutter. You only hoped he felt the same. You looked up at him and he broke out into that smile you’ve seen so much of from him these past few days. “How are you feeling today?” You asked him. “My back has been sore all day.”
“Mine as well.” He replied not knowing what else to say or what he should ask you in return to keep the conversation going.
He shook his head subtly, spiting himself. Why is talking to them so damn nerve wracking? The almost overbearing confidence he displayed around many was lost when it came to you. He didn’t want to put on an act. If he was going to win you he wanted to do it being his true self, even if that meant letting his anxiety poke through.
You were perfectly comfortable in his quiet presence, when it was coupled with the contact of your bodies. With your hands around his arm. His actions spoke louder than his words. He opened the door of the Three Broom Sticks for you, his hand resting on your upper back as you walked through the doorway, and he followed behind you.
The two of you found a small table for two near the back of the establishment near the fireplace. You slid your school robe off and folded it over the back of your chair. Leander pulled the seat out for you to sit before taking his place across from you. He was the very picture of a gentleman. This felt different than any of the times you’d gotten drinks with other friends of yours. You loved how this felt.
Sirona came around to take your order shortly after you’d gotten seated and there were two butterbeers on your table within minutes.
“Cheers.” He said, giving you a soft smile.
“Cheers!” You replied as you raised your mugs before sipping the drinks together.
The first few sips of the butterbeer coated both of you upper lips in sweet foam. You took a napkin to yours, but you appreciated the way he licked his lips quickly after each of his first couple of sips. Your stomach was doing flips. You had to calm yourself, directing your gaze to the fire burning in the fireplace instead.
Leander noticed how you looked at him before you diverted your gaze and he bounced his leg under the table. He loved having your eyes on him and he wanted to make you look at him like that again. He wasn’t sure why you stopped.
He had to swallow his nerves, his feelings while being kept inside were eating at him and he had to let them out. “What is this, MC?” He asked you. “Is this a date?”
Your eyes shot back to his, you were now feeling a fire inside unrelated to the one that you’d been staring into. Your heart wanted his. Your cheeks tinged pink and your heartbeat raced. “It… it can be. I’d like it, if it was.” You gave your honest answer, appreciating that he asked and got the awkwardness out of the way.
A sense of relief washed over him, finally knowing that you felt the same. You wanted it to be a date, you wanted to date him. He felt more comfortable already. “I would like that, too.”
“Well, it’s a date then.” You said, smiling at him and taking another sip of your drink.
His confidence was creeping back in, and it showed in how he took your hand from across the table and held it, his thumb tracing slowly over your knuckles.
Conversation came easily from that moment. You delved into topics that didn’t come up in casual conversations when you were amongst friends in classes. You learned about each other’s families, he talked about his many siblings. You each discussed your plans for after graduating, your hobbies, fears... One drink turned into two, turned into three, you drank each of them slowly, savoring each other’s company, but time flew by all the same. In the back of your mind you knew curfew was fast approaching and you detested the fact the two of you would have to wrap up your evening already. It was going so well.
Upon finishing up your last drinks of the evening, Leander stood and helped you from your chair and held your robe while you put it back on, his chivalry making you blush. He paid the bar tab and held the door for you as you started the walk back to the castle.
Rather than offering you his arm, he took your hand, lacing his fingers between yours as you strode side by side through Hogsmeade. The air had gotten cooler and the two of you kept up a brisk pace to keep warm, walking closely only doing so much in that regard.
Curfew be damned, Leander was set on walking you back to your common room once back inside the castle, and you were not going to deny him, if he so wanted to. The clock struck 10 as you were standing together outside of your common room entry, your hands still in his as he stood in front of you.
“I really enjoyed our date.” He said, leaning down and kissing your cheek softly. “I hope you have a good night.”
You kept hold of his hands, with no intention of letting him walk away before feeling his lips with yours. He smiled when you didn’t let go even after he took a half step back. Your eyes plead with him to stay, just a little longer.
“It’s just goodnight, not goodbye.” He reminded you with a little smirk.
“I know, I just…” You closed the gap between you, letting go of his hands and cradling his face instead. You stood on your tiptoes to kiss his lips.
You could feel him smile into it, before melting into you completely. He wrapped his arms around your back, holding you close and kissing you back, parting his lips and inviting your tongue to move against his. The kiss was slow and deep, quiet hums of contentedness escaping you both as the heat increased. One of his hands ran up your back and into your hair, tilting your head gently as he kissed you harder. You let out a quiet gasp feeling your bottom lip between his teeth. Kissing him was better than you ever could have imagined, and when it ended, you were left aching for more immediately.
“Goodnight.” He whispered to you once more, your face in his hands, his forehead resting on yours as you looked up at him. He kissed your forehead before leaning back, looking into your eyes, an expression of peace on his face.
“One more thing.” You said.
He nodded, grinning. He loved that you didn’t want him to walk away yet, it was a feeling he hoped to get used to from you, the feeling of being wanted. “What is it?”
“I’d like a second date.”
His eyes dilated, he was clearly thrilled at the idea. There was zero hesitation from him at all. “Oh, absolutely. It would be my pleasure.”
You hugged him close and kissed his cheek before finally telling him “goodnight” in return and parting ways to head into your common room for the night.
HP fic rec list: underrated gems of 2022
AO3 collection here. mostly ultra rare pairs, gen fic, character studies, and G/T rated fic. all are short <10k-ish reads (plenty of <1k ficlets) - do give them a read if any look interesting!
transports of delight by @swoontodeath (1.7k, G). The Knight Bus meets the Catbus. Sometimes destiny looks a lot like driving in the same direction.
pairing: Knight Bus (Harry Potter)/Catbus (My Neighbor Totoro). come for the crack ship, stay for the autistic stan shunpike. i’m a sucker for outsider POV and this is why — such great opportunity for some unique characterization, which this author took full advantage of here!
-#-
Life of Pye by @houseofhebrideanblacks (9k, E). Augustus Pye sees patients at St. Mungo's.
SUCH a creative unique fic - love it when authors take their deep IRL expertise and weave it into the canon HP verse. as the author put it, for anyone curious about what a nonmagical doctor sounds like writing about what they imagine magical medicine is like, day in and day out.
“It’s Puddlemere versus the Cannons tonight. The cup final.” Pye stopped mid-stride and mid-thought, shoulders seeming to weep under the weight of realisation. “Oh no,” he almost whispered. “Oh yes,” Marge glowered, “and you’re alone tonight, Rupert is off sick.” “Good heavens,” Pye whimpered, his coffee seeming to shrink in his hand, both in potency and relevance. In the waiting room behind him, three blokes hurricaned in chanting “CANNONS, CANNONS, CANNONS,” their unconscious friend slumped and dragged between them. “You know how it is, Pye,” Marge turned and shuffled back to validate the young witch’s national insurance card. Speaking over her shoulder, she finished, “never a dull moment at Mungo’s.”
-#-
Strangers In A Strange Land by @sleepstxtic (7.5k words, T). Helga, Salazar, and Godric dock in a strange land looking for the elusive fourth member of their team.
helga/rowena, founders friendship with POC Rowena Ravenclaw and Viking Helga Hufflepuff. CANON NODS and POC REP and FEMSLASH and a wonderful fascinating setting — ticks every single one of my AU boxes. another incredibly inventive and criminally underrated story.
-#-
A Different Truth by @paulamcg (2.8k, G). A week before Halloween 1993, when a colleague appreciates his company, Cuthbert may feel alive, even though he's dead and it's Saturday.
ok this is the last time i will say criminally underrated. canon-compliant POA first person cuthbert binns & remus lupin. this could’ve been slash and i would’ve been sold on it. i love their friendship, bonding over literature (of course) and a walk in the woods (so unexpected, but works so well.)
-#-
Meagre Pieces by @vdoshu (1k words, T). The Muggle-born Registration Commission is announced, and Andromeda feels sick.
The fact that the first Muggle-born Minister for Magic was a great victory for equality . . . one which was never again repeated.
@thistlecatfics’s trans teddy tonks x andromeda is taking over the world and i’m here for it. the political commentary in this. doshu you absolute wizard — you’ve got such range and you nail it every. single. time.
-#-
O let the world come at you, love (currently anonymous) (5k, T). Twelve-year-old Harry tries to figure out his parents' polyamorous relationship with Peter Pettigrew.
the first fic for the peter/lily/james tag on AO3, gifted to me for this year’s rare pairs exchange, and it’s all the wholesome fluff i i could’ve wanted from this ship and more!!! so much poly rep!! background wolfstar+tonks (ish), dorlene+implied others, and just the perfect epilogue 🥰
"Does it bother you that your parents are with Pete?" Sirius asked. "No! I know they're polymers."
-#-
Nirmal by @crazybutgood (2.8k, G).
postwar cho/padma. i ADORE this fic. there are literally LINKS to all the places and foods and songs mentioned, it’s an ENTIRE immersive multimedia experience in 3k words - a beautiful and horrendously underappreciated fic, imo.
hawa paani ka badlaav hona chahiye—A change in atmosphere is often needed to improve one's health or state of mind. Literally, a change in the winds, and the water. Parvati quoted that saying to us one evening last month, suggesting that it would be good for Cho and me. My parents knew that I had been with Cho for just over a year then, and welcomed her to stay with us after the Battle … Cho actually looked interested at the idea and suggested our home countries for a month each. And so, we’re currently visiting Mumbai first, staying in a Muggle area at my Muggle maushi’s place, in July—during the monsoon season.
-#-
a heart the size of jupiter (a smile like the sun) by gghostish (300 words, G, no archive warnings).
linny, epileptic luna lovegood. such a lovely achy hurty little thing ❤️
-#-
métamorphoses by @venom0usbarbie (5k, M). The blood curse took her grandmother. And now, she has to pay the piper if she doesn't want it to take her too.
astoria greengrass-centric, astoria & hermione (gen/possible pre-relationship). this fic wow. where do i begin!! the descriptive writing. the angsty family feels. the way barbie writes the blurring of thoughts and feelings and emotions into physical sensations is harrowingly good. check out everything else by her if you liked this, her style is inimitable.
-#-
wood-rush and wildflowers by @nanneramma (500 words, G). Lily has a secret, and it's time to tell Petunia.
wonderful little canon compliant alternate character POV vignette, gorgeous writing. also reccing this horrorific pansy/tom (ad te omnis caro veniet, 1.3k, M), this gorgeously sad canon-compliant alice & neville (gaps, 300, G), and every single one of nan’s summer femslash double drabbles!
-#-
covered in your ivy by @girl-with-goats (1.5k, M).
smutty BDSM remus/lily with planty metaphors that just work so well for this pairing!
-#-
I Always Underestimate You by @patriceavril (10k, M).
sirius & lily friendship! multi-era, canon compliant, sirius/mary and jily. i love the way patrice characterizes this friendship -- it’s not always easy, and that’s why it feels so earned!
-#-
Madam Smith by @lumosatnight (200 words, G). HOKEY/WINKY! SO charming and sweet and lovely and fluffy.
A Bleak Midwinter by @bluesundaycake (500, T). A Fenrir Greyback character study. feel sorry for baby fenrir thank you bye <3
Pray by @krethes (300, T). A Hope Lupin character study. yes hello hi read and CRY WITH ME
The Prince's Poems by @inmyownlittlecorner5. seven poems, misc formats. this author writes the most enthralling snape, and making it poetry is just !!! unfair. such powerful writing in so few words.
;; godric's hollow
🪄🧙. Aquel verano estaba siendo fastidioso para Albus. Sabía que al fin podía ver a su familia. Pero anhelaba continuar con su vida. Después de todo el colegio, ya no tenía nada más que enseñarle. Pensaba estudiar algo más, si es que el Ministerio de Magia tenía mejores opciones. Sin embargo, aquella calma llegó cuando su madre le informó que quería presentarle a una persona nueva en el Valle de Godric. ¿A una chica? Seguramente. Nada que le interesara, la verdad. Sin embargo, fue la figura de un hombre quien le recibió. “Querido, él es Gellert, es sobrino de Batilda. Se quedará todo el verano, así que espero que puedas mostrarle el lugar,” anunció su madre con voz suave. Era evidente que el contrario ya se había ganado a su madre. ¿Tan carismático era? —Buenos días —saludó el de cabellos rizados, decantándose por la cortesía.
unhinged ships mrs cole edition. - Mrs Cole/Albus Dumbledore ; Mrs Cole/Marvolo Gaunt ; Mrs. Cole/Horace Slughorn ; Mrs Cole/Godric Gryffindor
thank you very much for the ask, anon! love to see my girl mrs c getting some love.
albus dumbledore/mrs cole
answered here - tl;dr dumbledore's a fuckboy.
marvolo gaunt/mrs cole
so i'm going to go with... no. marvolo is very much not a catch - and his complete inability to look after himself [how the fuck are you starving to death just because your daughter ran away? eat a sandwich, you daft cunt?] would be beyond irritating to any woman, but especially to a woman who already spends all day taking care of actual children.
horace slughorn/mrs cole
now this is more like it!
slughorn is - obviously - a deeply, deeply sinister man. he would also make an incredible sugar daddy.
the orphans don't quite know where the freshly-repaired roof and newly-installed central heating has come from [or why mrs cole seems to have so many new handbags], but they're hardly going to complain...
godric gryffindor/mrs cole
mrs cole seems pretty no-nonsense, and i genuinely think that this trait [especially when combined with her canonical ability to hold her booze] would make her reasonably good at coping in a time-travel scenario.
she also loves gossip, and so she was definitely the cause of the wizarding world's whole... thing - after she told salazar slytherin that she and gryffindor were banging, not realising that this was information gryffindor did not want his boyfriend to know about...
