Frodo is working up his courage to go on/wrestling with the temptation of the Ring, and Sam is wishing he could be more help/wrestling with the barrier of the Ring that he can't save Frodo from.

(The thing in the middle is the spine of my planner, since I drew one of them on each of the outer covers. Very convenient to symbolize said barrier!)

Fun book-canon detail: Frodo has a cleft in his chin (see Gandalf's amusing description as recounted by Mr. Butterbur in chapter 10).

Less fun book-canon detail: Sam's knees are scraped up, which Tolkien mentioned during the dash to cut Frodo off at the boat, then apparently forgot about, to my chagrin and concern.

It happens so so often that I'll see characters in shows or books and stuff and rather than wanting to fuck them, or shipping them, or wanting to be in their world or whatever...

Usually I wanna give them a fucking hug. Like, I'll see a character get broken down again and again and have to keep going, keep fighting, because the story isn't done yet, and they aren't done yet, and so they keep going. And inevitably there will come a moment where I'll pause it, or put down the book, and just imagine the character in front of me. And I imagine I hug them so so close, so tightly in my arms. Press their face into my shoulder and hold them together so they don't have to anymore.

It absolutely destroys me how angular your Frodo’s face is now… He looks so much better than the skeleton he became in Mordor that it’s harder to notice, but… his face is nowhere near as soft and rounded and hobbitish as you drew it earlier on. His cheeks are sunken. His cheekbones are more prominent. He has lines under his eyes. He’s lost a part of himself, and it isn’t coming back, and it’s easy to overlook, but it shows. Your attention to detail never fails to astound me and break my heart.

At points people are in the audience and I wasn't able to capture them but you can always hear them and I do my best to always try to make sure to capture anything in the audience that I could. Thorin in the moonlight was something else.

Of course, he’d always loved Thorin in the sun. Thorin in the forest. Bathing in the river. Under firelight in the bedroom. But Thorin in the moonlight, surrounded by his mountainous kingdom of stone. It was something else.

The bit of grey in his hair seemed to shine in the moonlight and the silver beads and baubles in his hair and braids were gleaming. “You look like a dream.”

“You’re my cup-bearer, are you not?”

Bilbo blinked,. His lips were slightly parted and he licked them, brushing his hair behind his ear. What was wrong with him?

“To make sure it isn’t poisoned?” He looked at the rim of the cup before him, entirely unable to look the king in his eyes.

“Will you not do your duty?”

“Are you ordering me?”

“Yes.”

Bilbo nodded to himself and waited for the two of them to exit, fully intending to be discovered.

“Oh!” The Bekhzél gave a small gasp of surprise when she saw Bilbo leaning against the wall just outside the Great Hall. Thorin quickly rushed to join her, looking a bit guilty when he saw Bilbo there. “Chamber Master Baggins, you surprised me.”

“You surprise me, Bekhzél.” He spoke with something heavy in his voice. Bitterness? He wasn’t sure.

Bilbo swallowed and let out a shaky breath. “I- A-Are you trying to get me in bed? I’ll kick everyone out right this instant.”

Thorin’s deep chuckle rumbled through the crowded hall, grounding Bilbo back to the present. The smirk playing on the dwarf king's lips was undeniably mischievous. "Not tonight, Bilbo," he replied, his voice a soothing timbre that only added to Bilbo's flustered state. "Though, the thought had crossed my mind once or twice."

in a quiet hall of Erebor, Mirabella Brandybuck hit the ground.

Unhinged version:

Faramir, being led around by four of the Boggins sisters. He gave Bilbo a polite wave before he was hurried along.

“Check on him in half an hour and save him if need be.” He whispered to Frodo, who nodded while trying to hold back a laugh.

“Oh, don’t laugh at the poor man.” He scolded while barely stopping a chuckle of his own.

The Princes of Erebor were next, with Fíli and Kíli quickly being approached by Merry and Pippin. The four seem to be getting on quite well and that only made Bilbo nervous.

Elrond’s twins, Elladan and Elrohir, were next to enter just as the music started up. The twins very quickly caught sight of the princes of Erebor with Merry and Pippin and immediately made their way over.

Ah. There are six of them. Erebor was doomed at this rate.

Peony and Thranduil were sitting quite close and were chatting away like old friends.

Why the fuck was Peony even near him? Why was he talking to Peony? Maybe it was a weird pregnancy thing, like when she once insisted that sardines and mangos were delicious together. Yes. Certainly, it was the pregnancy that was messing with her brain and making her think it was a good idea to befriend King Thranduil of Mirkwood.

He still frowned at the sight of Peony and Thranduil sitting together. He even noticed Legolas giving them odd looks from where he stood, now with the group of Elrond’s sons, the princes of Erebor, Merry and Pippin. There are seven of them now. He certainly didn’t regret introducing them. The elves and the dwarves would never scheme together, but with Merry and Pippin, he felt all the worse and most mischievous traits of them all were amplified. It stressed Bilbo out enough that he didn’t notice Peony and Thranduil quietly leaving together.

Every Single Thing I Have Ever Shipped!

Okay, let me be clear with a disclaimer that this has been throughout my entire life, and obviously, media targeted towards children that are mentioned are most definitely in the past.

I have them formatted with a small chunk of info as to why I ship/shipped them. I sorted them in order of how weird I think they are, from plain vanilla to the esoteric. I am also going to have a checkmark [✅] signifier that will indicate whether I've read fics for the ship or not.

I love these two, and even though I figured out most of the things about my sexuality before Heartopper graced my screen, Nick Nelson still had a very similar, albeit not identical, journey of discovery to mine, which makes me even more attached.

They are so adorable. I love what their relationship represents and their dynamic in the sense of their attachment to each other. Like most people, I think I got a bit frustrated on their first date scene, but it was understandable, so that’s just a small gripe I have.

Okay, you got me, I never watched an ounce of Star Trek besides Spirk content. And even from a peripheral view knowing that Kirk is supposed to be a lady's man, they’re still gay beyond reason.

Fran Fine/Maxwell Sheffield

This show was my childhood, I think I started watching it with my family when I was under 10. Anyway, I feel like they were a slow burn done correctly. Wholesome as all hell, plus Fran is an amazing character and I love how she integrated herself into the family the right way.

C. C. Babcock/Niles

You cannot deny that the “I loathe you” kiss was perfect. They hated each other for so long, and I get the dislike of that aspect to the relationship, but they still made them believable without squashing their pre-established chemistry.

H20: Just Add Water

I cannot believe that Sea Change and the episode where Lewis left made me cry. I must’ve watched Sea Change like 50 million times because it was just peak cinema to me, but I couldn’t watch Lewis leaving again because it crushed my soul so violently. The moment when he came back with that sweeping camera motion made me audibly gasp and kick my legs. It was that bad. 

Rikki Chadwick/Zane Bennett

I’m really sad they didn’t work it out in the end, although I completely understand Rikki and I wouldn’t want to go back to Zayne myself. Although it did seem like Zayne was trying to make things right with her in the last episode? But Mako Mermaids didn’t show her with Zayne, so I’m inclined to believe they never made up.

Yuri On Ice

When I tell you I fully screamed at the kiss scene AND the proposal, I am not lying. They were just the ship you freak out over, you know?

Oh my god, where to begin? I love these two, they were my Bella and Edward if that comparison makes sense. Except for a better relationship in every single way, no biggie. Personally, that quote is a bit overused to explain their relationship, but it still made me shrivel into a prune.

Finnick Odair/Annie Cresta

The only person I would want Finnick with other than myself. They gave cute, wholesome, true love and just passed the vibe check with flying colours.

Merlin/Arthur Pendragon ✅

Again, another ship I love even though I haven’t watched the source material. I do remember watching the ‘two hours of merthur scenes’ YouTube video a few years before I got into the fandom, so It’s been in my peripheral view for a while.

Oof, I don’t like MHA anymore because it was just too toxic, and this ship used to be the OTP after Free!, but like, it’s fallen in the ranks super hard.

I only watched the first few episodes of the original Sailor Moon and the ending with my sister for my birthday, so this is another ship that I haven’t seen. But I still love them from what I’ve been exposed to and I hate that they were reduced to friends with the English dub.

Again, a peripheral ship where I didn’t watch or see Cardcaptor Sakura, but I mean, they’re adorable and canon. Not much else to say about it.

Let me break this down before everyone hates me. I love Ymir and Krista. Ymir was really the push she needed to become her own person and I love that arc. But I’m also a firm believer in bisexuality existing, headcanons are fine, and that it’s okay to move on from past loves.

Eren Yeager/Historia Reiss ✅

I was kind of cringe during this era, and I did think they were endgame, which is why the ending tainted my opinion of the show overall. I fell off the show pretty shortly after the manga finished. But sometimes I will revisit these two to torture myself for some reason. I’m sure Destiel and Merthur shippers can concur.

Erwin Smith/Levi Ackerman ✅

You know, I loved the fake Ackerman lore that Eren came up with because it was an interesting literary device and at least confirmed this ship slightly. They felt very gay in a weird way.

It’s funny, I shipped them before Annie was revived and fell off the ship once they became canon. It felt really strange, but the way the relationship played out felt just contrived and fake afterward.

Okay, the one thing that I actually love about this ship is the reincarnation aspect to it because it really drives home how in love they are with each other. Yuki will always love Luka even if he doesn’t remember him, and Luka will love Yuki no matter what form he takes. Very deep.

I don’t understand why a lot of people didn’t like this relationship. They were very cute and gave me some Rapunzel/Flynn Rider vibes, especially in the very beginning. And I can see them in a very cute, mutually supportive romance.

I refuse to have my adolescence destroyed by part 2 after I saw the smallest clip of Joel dying, so I’m sticking to Left Behind. I was sobbing by the end of that DLC. Also, the show handled THAT scene perfectly. Loved it.

Okay. Listen. I would love it if they got back together in that theory with the bracelet. But I also see a poetic parallel to Tommy and Maria. Tommy kept disrespecting Maria and putting himself in danger, and it's clear that that's the main reason for them taking a break. There might be a chance to get back together, but it would take a lotta time.

My Little Pony

I am shooketh at the implications of the last episode. They were my favourite ship in MLP, and I am sad to share the cringe that I watched Bride and Daughter of Discord when that was around. But the whole paper bag thing during the epilogue made me implode, I’m so happy they ended up semi-canon.

Rainbow Dash/Apple Jack

They did have many moments that left me in a chokehold when I was in my older childhood years, but I fell off MLP for a solid 5 years before hearing the rumours on the grapevine that they became canon. And they are super close, you can tell.

These iconic chaotic lesbians made me squeal at Undyne’s cheek kiss in the end credits. I love practically every single one of their scenes together.

Despite the bad rep this ship has gotten over the years, I would still sacrifice Arcadia Bay at any opportunity. Their kiss was truly a magical moment.

Kind of crazy, considering the end of the game, but I thought that their dynamic was very poetic and tragic. Personally, I don’t think that Six was malicious when she let go of Mono, I think she just recognized Mono was The Thin Man and wanted to prevent him from becoming himself in the future.

I sighed, staring at the bar where Rosie Cotton, and lovely y/n worked. Both were chatting happily to each other as they did their duties. It's been a few months since we came back to the Shire. I've always had a crush on y/n, even before my quest began. Sam had already proposed to Rosie, which happened just a couple of months ago.

Now, I wanted to ask y/n out. But I didn't know how. And I was too scared.

"Hello? Frodo, are ou even listening?" Merry asked. He waved his hand in my face, trying to catch my attention.

And it worked. I snapped back to reality after staring at y/n from afar.

"Sorry. Wasn't paying attention," I answered quickly as I turned to face my friends again.

"Oh. Staring at y/n, are we?" Pippin smirked. He gave me a teasing wink.

My cheeks burned a bright pink color.

"Of course, I don't," I hastily replied.

"Yes, you do. You've been staring at her for the past thirty minutes, man," Merry interrupted. "You should ask her out by now."

"I can't, Merry. I'm too shy," I tried to argue.

"C'mon!" groaned Merry. "You went into Mount Doom and managed to destroy the Ring. And you think that asking y/n out is harder than that?" He stared at me in disbelief.

The duo pressured me for a bit. Sam just sat to the side, smoking his pipe. He didn't want to get himself involved, and I didn't blame him.

"I'm sure she'll say yes, Mr. Frodo," he finally encouraged. "I was scared to death when I asked Rosie to marry me a couple weeks ago, even though I knew she'd say yes. We're not close to Miss y/n, but I can tell that she adores you, even if she just watches from afar."

"See?" Pippin added. "You should ask her!"

Both Merry and Pippin shoved me towards her, and I nervously approached y/n. My hands were sweating profusely by the time I got there. I waited patiently as y/n collected orders from two other male Hobbits, who were drunkenly commenting her. That caused me to be a bit jealous. But she paid no heed to them, much to my relief.

She finally turned to me, smiling slightly. I could see a pink blush creeping up her cheeks, and she quickly avoided my gaze.

"C-Can I help you, Mr. Baggins?" she asked shyly.

"Well. . . . .," I began, wondering how I should start off my confession. "I actually have something to tell you, y/n."

She raised an eyebrow, looking really suspicious. Well, no turning back, now. It's now or never.

"Go on," she said. She sat herself down on the counter.

I took a deep breath, trying to control myself.

"I — I was wondering if you'd — if you'd like to go on a date with me?" I asked, stuttering and stumbling in between words. She stared at me in surprise, and I could feel a sense of dread settling in the pit of my stomach.

Maybe she didn't want to be with me at all.

I found myself blushing hard. This was not how I wanted things to go.

"I-I'm sorry!" I stuttered, unsure of what to say. I — I wasn't sure of what you'd say. Or if you wanted to go on a date at all! It's alright if you don't want to. I understand —"

I was cut off when I felt a pair of soft lips pressing against mine. At first, my heart stopped, and I didn't know how to react. I soon responded by wrapping my arms hesitantly around her waist. When she let go, she looked me directly in the eyes.

"Of course, I want to, Mr. Baggins," she answered.

My heart soared when I heard her say that.

"Tomorrow evening, then? If you're free?" I asked.

"That sounds great."

"I'll see you, then," I breathlessly replied.

I looked at her one last time before cheerfully making my way back to my friends. I noticed that both Merry and Pippin had triumphant smirks on their faces.

"What?" I asked casually once I sat back down.

"Told ya she'd say yes," Pippin replied.

"Shut up," I replied as I stared wistfully after y/n again.
