It's Aza and Sheri's birthday today!
from Artober 2021, before I changed my URL
I wanted to share their goofy original lore, which is that Aza(lea) was the princess by birth, and she had no siblings. Except there was this one noble family who, for some convoluted historical reason I don't remember, had the right to position their heir, Serito, as essentially Azalea's older brother. He was generally an asshole and was gonna get some kind of Connecting With My Fake Sibling story at some point, but before that happened I nixed this lore and just made them birth siblings. And Aza is the older twin now :)
Also everyone should see this gorgeous commission of them that Wazaga did a few years back:
#it's been a while since I looked at that commission and ughhhhhh it's so good#yes they are fraternal twins. no nobody cares that she's older except her parents#might share some old Triad excerpts later because them having a heart to heart is everything to me#Sheri may be a gay disaster who doesn't listen to anybody but he's also a very nice brother...#c: Aza#c: Sheri#aza & sheri day#id in alt

I managed to catch Layla and Alex do their rhythm dance just now on Dailymotion so at least they’re still streaming on there for this competition, don’t know if they’re archiving it though. Camera angle was terrible, at one point a pillar was filling half the screen. The skate was lovely, though I kinda think the choreography changes they’re making at every competition are having diminishing returns at this point, it was a strong program in its original form. But if it helps get them their levels I’m for it.
omg i wish i’d known- they had stopped using dailymotion at all for August and October- i stopped recording bc it looked like this:
sigh. i hope they do archive this stream on dailymotion.

closed starter @soldefied ( sheri )
"Sheri," Pranav called out, waving her over. "I have to say I was pleasantly surprised to hear you reach out, we truly haven't had had enough time to get to know one another which is shameful on my part." He told her, words coated with a genuine affection for the other. Still, Pranav knew he had to be on his best behavior with her. "So, I do apologize profusely for that, let's work on amending that starting now? I'm sure you have a dozen questions."

"🍊 Your oc is brought to the fruits and veggies aisle of the grocery store. What do they pick?" For Sheri and Aza because what happens when ex-royals go shopping lmao
The first time Aza went to a grocery store was in Olinfa with Keearo's family, and it was overwhelming. The signs didn't make any sense, she'd never seen some of these fruits before, and they just walked through it like it was nothing??? But she's better with it now. The stores mostly have seasonal local produce, and she has a better handle on which things she likes. There's a honeydew-like melon that appears in the summer that she will always always buy and then slice very thinly so it sort of melts in her mouth.
The first time Sheri went to a grocery store was in Vascoma, and of course he went to the biggest one he could possibly find, which meant that when he stepped in it felt shockingly like being toted around for a public appearance—too many people, too many lights, and the strong desire to just go back to his room. This particular store does a thing where the produce is arranged by color. It's supposed to be a reference to the fabric culture/industry of Vascoma, but in Sheri's opinion it doesn't actually help him find anything, especially when so many things are green??? But he's become enamored of a flat pod fruit that has the same issue as pomegranates (too full of seeds) but is so delicious he'll deseed the damn thing himself.

https://www.tumblr.com/virtchandmoir/179143651020/disclaimer-this-is-not-a-new-interview-i-am
Have you ever listened to this interview? I would love to hear your thoughts about it. Alma seems more shy than I thought. Lol at Scott always running home crying every time he played with his brothers. And calling him a bad poker player because he shows all his emotions on his face. Being too emotional is something he’s struggled with his whole life I guess. I noticed she seems to have the most trouble answering questions about Scott compared to her other boys. Pj had to take over a few times and answer for Alma.
i do remember this interview - it's good, she does seem soft spoken. i always have this impression of her, idk it it's true, that she's soft hearted and emotional but has some steel to her. and has strong convictions about the right way to do things. and that she's a workaholic who doesn't like to be idle. maybe she hesitates answering about Scott because anything she says is going to be more remembered and dissected. we're talking about this podcast because she's his mom after all, and this interview is from around the start of the comeback
i'm always 👀 that she says her son Charlie is her most athletic - maybe she means in running faster, throwing a ball harder, all around athleticism. because it's hard to imagine you have one who's the goat at one sport and another who was better who didn't' pursue sports further. i didn't know Charlie was a pairs skater through novice nationals
she's so practical, saying she steered her boys to ice dance because it would be a good part time job being a dance partner for girls taking their tests at the rink
she says more than once that Scott is passionate, like that's his trait most notable to her. the street hockey story about it "always [being] the baby" coming home crying is a good one. the kind of tidbit you'll only hear about from a mom. how her sons signed up each year for figure skating because they loved being in the ice show. that it was mother-son time for them to be at the rink with her, that they would hang out with their friends there.
her coaching philosophy seems like it might be carrying forward at IAMO: that a coach needs to be a real person, sympathetic to the needs of a skater, to make their athlete the best person possible for life ❤️
her father was in the military, and her older siblings boarded in London because of skating, so then their mom moved Alma and Carol there as well while their dad commuted to Ottawa. Danny and Sheri boarded in Waterloo before Tessa and Scott did, also for skating.
that Tessa and Scott always had a natural glide, a poise, and love for performing, even as kids. this was ❤️ too - that she just wanted them to be happy when they came off the ice - "when they come out for the warmup i either get really nervous or i'm like all right because i know what they're like. when they're finished, i watch them in the k&c, if they're excited about how they skated then all is good"
says the rink keeps her young (she wasn't that old when she gave this interview, c'mon Alma) and when prompted to fill in the blank, skating is ... amazing
#that other interview when she says she told scott he had to make his mark#in skating#you could tell she has some strong stuff to her#and that the message he was getting at home vs tessa in hers was different

I AGREE WITH THIS....... we go back and forth adding stuff to the drawing until its a full scene (which, by the way, could be a metaphor for our relationship if that isnt too cliche!!!!!) and he would probably laugh every time i add something new and he goes along with it and sticks with the theme im going for :/3 like i add a fancy top hat, he adds a bowtie... eventually the drawing is a whole party between rich animals wearing top hats, bowties, monocles, and sweaters!!! and omg he would probably draw a cat that looks like me right in the center so i take the paper and draw a cat that looks like him right next to "my" cat and he would look at it so fondly and lovingly AH!!!! he probably keeps it in his room after that....like framed and everything...!!! (T_T )
#asks#sheri#c#THANK YOU SHERIIII :3 youre the best!!!!!!!#i love getting asks from you SO much :-D dont be sorry!!!

Thinkin about Dean's complicated desires to protect and be protected; the competing desire to be trusted with and shielded from
////
One of the first scenes that epitomized Dean's warring needs re: Cas was in 5x18.
CASTIEL: Because there are at least five angels in there. DEAN: So? You’re fast. CASTIEL: They’re faster. CASTIEL takes off his tie and wraps it around his palm. CASTIEL: I’ll clear them out. You two grab the boy. This is our only chance. DEAN: Whoa, wait. You’re gonna take on five angels?
///
There are many ways to deal with this deranged, contradictory emotion. To (A) goad him into being faster, harder, stronger or (B) call him a baby and a whiner and hope that he steps up or (C) take him out of the fight all together "Just stay here and get better!"
///
SNIPPET from this conversation:
(In season 14)
...there's the irrational desire of Dean's that Cas would just fix it all and shield Dean from all of it. This is something that Dean's scripted irrationality in Game 14x18 Absence accomplishes so, so well:
CAS: "Are you mad because I didn't tell you-- or that I'm telling you at all?" DEAN: "BOTH!"

It's both!!!!!
He craves Cas's protection. But he resents it, too. It's what he loves about him. It's what he hates about him. It's the power dynamic that brings him simultaneous comfort and pain.
The sad thing is, if Cas had solved Jack's soul problem on his own, Dean would have probably been elated and relieved. Just like how he was in total awe when Cas got the Leviathan blossom on his own. Dean was weak in the knees for it-- ready to tell Cas something big for it. It's so messy and dualistic and complicated.
///
Anyway, that protectorship of it all is complicated. That's what this spooky line is about in 15x02. Everyone everywhere is reminding Cas of his failed familial obligations. Here are the civilians in the gym, getting frustrated with Cas:
ANDY: First Nan went missing. Now Dave and Sheri. CASTIEL: We are looking for them everywhere. ANDY:You said you'd keep us safe. [Cas has no better answers for him. He pauses, closes his eyes for a moment, and then walks away]
Cas is the failed protector, the absent soldier who's trying his best to be on ALL impossible fronts: battlefield, home, marriage, work.
It's the same raw frustration we see out of a distraught Dean in 3x10:
DEAN: He's the one who couldn't protect his family. He- (DEAN steps back and swings the weapon again, hitting DREAM DEAN twice.) He's the one who let Mom die.
Cas was supposed to succeed where John failed! But it's too much weight. No one can be that strong. Not even Cas.
#cas john parallels#complex cas#complex dean#chivalry as a feature and a bug#spousal dynamics#this manifests specifically in cas’s pretty early#so interesting

I can't believe it never occurred to me to ask XD what are your OC's voice claims? Or at least what kind of voice do you imagine them having?
(Ngl I've been imagining Rena sounding like Sheri Moon Zombie, so I've just been imagining Baby Firefly and Tiffany Valentine arguing whenever I think about Rena and Shiny. I thought that might get a chuckle out of you XD)
Okay so I always forget to consider voices 😅 BUT I LOVE THAT. SHERI MOON IS P E R F E C T FOR RENA XDD Oh my goodness I love that XDD I'm gonna choose some Aussie voices for them all though- hold on XD
Lottie Weasel: Mia Wazikowska. I dont actually have a video example for her, cuz I'm getting headachey again (She's the last one i'm doing 😅) but I think she's perfect! ^^
Kingston Kangaroo: Jai Courtney

Rena Roo: Isla Fisher.

Ryan Roo: ... Hugh Jackman XD
