Whoever conceived and animated this moment, I hope they're doing well and thriving. This is S-rank romance stuff here.

Danny and Hunter have been best friends for a while, and although they follow different paths after high school, they stick together. But what’s keeping them together might be something more than just friendship.

rating: 4.5/10
I think this one is generally cute, but that’s about as far as it gets. Because the initial set-up is one asking out the other rather than following a typical build-up structure, it's hard to get really into it: the audience has no context for what motivates the characters to do or say the things they do, and this trend follows for most of the story. The pacing and dialogue feel a bit clunky, and there's not a lot of depth into what makes the characters interesting or worthy of being the main characters at all. It sort of feels like the whole coming-out, new-romance timelines are done on speedrun for the sake of emotional conflict without deeper nuance, and the telling:showing ratio is way off, even for a slice of life. I like the art style of this one a lot, it feels very natural and I find the linework really satisfying; the colors are warm and fun and the character designs and style are all great. But as a whole, it feels like it's just going through the steps that a romance story tends to follow without a deeper exploration into its characters or their actions, which makes it feel pretty cringeworthy. I think queer comfort and openness are really important to portray, but not when it feels like there’s no substance. I don’t get why you would want to tell a story if you don’t actually have anything to say.
I gave this one points 2) worldbuilding, 3) nice backgrounds, 7) genre awareness, 8) thematically appropriate language, 10) lack of same-face syndrome, 11) lack of cookie-cutter syndrome, 12) racial diversity, 14) visuals-colors, and 16) bonus art point. I feel bad that I don’t have more to like about it, like it genuinely is very cute and I think the art is fantastic, but that can’t save the story, and there really doesn’t feel like there’s anything going on to make it, well, interesting. My biggest critiques summarized are points 4) pacing, 5) building themes, and 6) character depth because I think those are the things that make it really hard to connect with. Again, all my personal opinion and I haven’t stopped reading it, either. I don’t think it’s actually terrible, it just doesn’t really leave a strong impression.

Follow up: OKF black sugar milk tea
Tumblr media
Okay so I was saying like, this product would probably work better if they just didn't try to put boba in it and I guess I spoke that into existence cuz I found these on the same shelf as that Evergreen swill at the grocery story today on my way to try and see dune 2 (unsuccessful attempt, went to the mall instead).
It's decent, very strong brown sugar taste, not too artificial. Perhaps a bit sweet for me. It's definitely not as good as anything I've had at a proper boba store but it's leagues better than the Evergreen.
If they start selling taro flavoured ones I'd probably buy these again but I dunno if I would get this flavour again so it's C tier for me.
Evergreen Canned bubble tea
Tumblr media
I wanna preface this by saying, I do think it's bad form to review something I haven't drank recently but I have been complaining abt these for months and I absolutely refuse to buy another one just for the sake of my own integrity. I hope you'll forgive me.
This review is very simple. Keen eyed viewers may have already realized the problem with these. If you haven't yet, let me break it down for you:
You all know how to drink from a can don't you? You open it, a satisfying hiss, a crack as you pull back on the tab, you bring the cold metal to your lips and you take a deep, delicate, swig, throat bobbing as you swallow (is it getting hot in here?)
But boba are solids, aren't they? Denser than liquid, they sink to the bottom of the beverage, do they not? They must be sucked silly up through a bigass straw, that's the principle, isn't it?
So guess what happens, when you buy a tall can of bubble tea and drink that delicious purple ichor, tilting the can higher and higher to plumb at its depths, the unusual weight of it in your hands the only warning you have for what is about to happen next, when a mass of boba stuck on the bottom tumbles forth to completely fuck your whole shit up.
And before you give me this bullshit of "use a straw" I need you to understand that these are full sized boba, ie they require special sized bigass straws which they don't carry at the random ass convenience stores selling these things. Unless you happen to be carrying a Boba straw around with you, there's no way to get at them. So no, you can't just use a straw.
Also the boba themselves are by far the worst boba I've ever had. They're very hard to chew, completely flavoureless; they're just gross. And I like boba for the record I have a very high tolerance for a wide variety of gummy/gelatin textures. Like i really could review gummies as well but I'm trying to stay focused here.
F tier. This is a failed product made by idiots.

Hades was king of the Underworld. But he fell in love with a beautiful lady who walked up above in her mother's green field. He fell in love with Persephone, who was gathering flowers in the light of the sun. And he took her home to become his queen where the sun never shone on anyone. The lady loved him and the kingdom they shared, but without her above not one flower would grow.

The main reason to teach kids about Roman numerals isn't that they're useful in real life, but because they're so bloody awkward to actually calculate with that it might give the students some appreciation for the number system we actually use.
Like yeah, long multiplication is a ballache, but it could be so much worse.

Your artstyle is so smooth and comfortable. Like. I want to hug your Heavy, he looks so soft and huggable- Thank you for what you're doing!!
Thank you so much!!! I love Heavy so much - gentle giant (at least off the battlefield) is such a endearing trope! This isn't as soft and huggable as I've drawn him in the past but here's some sketches sitting open in PS of Heavy doing some dosmestic stuff in a vest

Fluidum by GirlsonFilm and Valeria M
Webtoon
Photo from episode 2: Ep 1 - Bodies & choices
Jesse was born like every citizen in the Fluidum universe, spending their first 20 years shifting seamlessly between a male and female body. Now with only one year left until they must choose one body for the rest of their life, Jesse is questioning the unquestionable... why decide at all?
completed, 102 chapters
poc mc, trans mc, nb mc, nb/nb, poly
drama, sci-fi, fantasy
queer, modern fantasy, familial
fame, concepts, illogical hair
Location: Euro (London and generally the EU)
Rating: 4/10
I think the concept for Fluidum is so unique and interesting, and I really love the beginning chapters and premise. But I ended up rereading a huge portion of it and honestly, the writing does not hold up; it sort of derails in quality past the half-way point until the end chapters are practically unreadable. While I think the general plot is very engaging and like I said, all the concepts are fantastic, the dialogue and pacing are kind of a mess and it’s pretty frustrating to read. The characters are stiff and disjointed, and the art relies a lot on visual cues like crying or very well-established body language poses to get the points across rather than developing the characters as individuals. There’s a lot of telling rather than showing, especially in dialogue, which is really frustrating to read. Thematically, it centers on how harmful binaries are, which is ironic considering how morally black-and-white all the characters are. Complex themes of abuse and generational trauma are just roadbumps to overcome rather than ongoing issues, and as soon as someone reveals their tragic backstory, they’re as good as forgiven with no long-lasting consequences, which just feels like a gross misinterpretation of how people and relationships work. And despite there being characters of multiple generations, they all have the same speech patterns and emotional maturity, which gets kind of grating. But I have to reiterate: the original concepts and different spins and perspectives on the main conflict are super interesting, as well as the intricate world-building around various societies which approach the Choice in different ways. I would also add that the first episodes are enormously better than the last ones, so it’s probably a fair assumption that the writers were facing pressure to tie off the story and come to a conclusion, which was really unfortunate because the conflict was far too complex to address well in the second season’s 50 episodes, so it ended up feeling really sloppy. (There’s also a note apologizing for how rushed the second act is after the final episode, so I’m not pointing out anything the creators didn’t already know) As a story it genuinely did deserve so much better, which makes me sad because I don’t think I could bear to read this comic again.
I gave this one points in categories 2) worldbuilding, 4) pacing, 5) building themes, 6) character depth, 10) lack of same face syndrome, 12) racial diversity, 13) Bechdel test, and 19) made me think a lot. I ended up conceding on points 4, 5, and 6 even though I’d say the ending doesn’t meet them because it was obvious that the intent was there and it really did start in such a promising place. I’d say this was one of the webcomics that has made me think the most, ever, because the concept, like I say, is really interesting and I think could have a lot of reflections on the way controlling governments encourage infighting among people who have less power in order to maintain a certain hierarchy of influence, as well as the way queer people present a threat to authority because our existence represents the possibility for change and reformation of social norms… but it really just doesn’t quite get there. I really hope the creators have a chance at some point to go back and make the story they originally wanted to tell.
