let's break down what's embarrassing about both.

steve: bro really said he wanted to have six kids with his ex-girlfriend who is dating someone else. she very obviously doesn't want that and even says that sounds like a nightmare, but steve still says the dream is about her. she is also dating someone else who is so obviously better for her and she shows, throughout the season, no interest in getting back together with him even if she does leave jonathan.

the redeeming factor is that he genuinely wants kids but it really shows that he doesn't know anything about what nancy wants for her future. incredibly unwatchable too, i cannot sit through that.

mike: the line is plagarized from eddie's speech to dustin who are brother figures to each other (yikes) and other parts of his speech was plagiarized from will implicitly confessing to him in what mike thinks is something el originally said to him (again, yikes). he is also painfully obviously lying as he definitely did not fall in love with her the day he met her. when he first met her, he mistook her for will (his other love interest) and when he found out she wasn't, planned to send her away to continue looking for him. said he felt like his life started the say he met her in the woods (the day he lost his will) and looks constipated throughout.

redeeming that he's a teenager and horribly stressed. more watchable than steve's speech but is so obviously a half-assed lie that even el doesn't believe him. he also wants to be a writer so the fact that he couldnt make a convincing lie up is just upsetting.

now in the beginning i would have said stancy by a landslide but i wrote mike's part and now i genuinely dont know. they're both so bad.
