Just out of curiosity, is there a particular reason Wings of Fire didn't resonate with you as much as Warrior Cats? I've seen some fans say the appeal of WC to them is the sheer volume of characters/storylines and how open it is to fan reimaginings, so a shorter yet better-written series doesn't scratch the same itch, but despite people joking about "Warrior Cats with dragons" I don't think the series actually have much in common beyond Tui as a writer and ensemble casts of nonhuman characters, so I'd be interested to hear any thoughts of yours

Honestly? I think I'm just too old for it, nothing wrong with the quality of the series in itself. The simple prose and childish dialogue is absolutely fine for the intended audience, but I'm an adult and I crave a little bit more meat to my books, that's all. I do agree that Wings of Fire and Warriors are very different and also that I think a lot of WoF fans just really undersell what their series is about in favor of just trying to get eyes on it.

I grew up with Warriors, so it gets points with me for nostalgia, but it also piqued my interest in media criticism. I just generally think it's a pretty fascinating piece of media, being over 20 years old with a fandom that can sustain itself without reading the books. That sort of relationship between fan and media is something I'm generally interested in outside of Warriors as well, I just find it fascinating!

“White as the star's heart it pierced, ivory draconic brought death's bite known ever forth as Novablade..” draconic as in dragons, ivory as in an animal’s tusk (some dragons have tusks) but it can also refer to a pale color….
