hiiiii sorry to bother you again but uh... homemade vegan dark chocolate?? Would you mind ruining me on that please?
HA okay recipe time
*Disclaimer: I've done this so much that I might have skipped over random stuff, or said something that makes sense to ME but to no one else. Feel free to reach out for clarification on anything.
Super long post!
Ingredients
Cacao butter, cocoa/cacao powder, sweetener of choice, little pinch of salt, little bit of vanilla, little bit of instant coffee
Cacao butter -- note that people use this as both a food ingredient and a beauty ingredient and you want the stuff that's food-grade and safe to eat.
Cocoa/cacao powder- "cacao" means it's raw and "cocoa" means it's processed, if you were curious. Pick whichever you like, but the source you choose affects the flavor of your chocolate. Cacao tends to be slightly more bitter and cocoa tends to be slightly sweeter. If you have a local chocolate shop in town, I highly recommend buying your powder from them! A store that specializes in chocolate products tends to have great cocoa/cacao powder.
Try different kinds of products and learn what you like! I often use Dutch-processed cocoa powder.
Sweetener- Lots of options.
Brown sugar, white sugar, whatever you pick. It all affects the flavor and you can experiment and discover what you like! I will say that powdered sugar usually makes my chocolate come out smoother than granulated sugar. Some brands of powdered sugar are processed with bone char though so take care to check for vegan brands.
Honey is also a great option that makes chocolate even smoother than with sugar, but I'm sure agave would be a good substitute for vegans. I haven't used agave personally since it can cause health problems so I usually go for powdered sugar for my vegan chocolates.
Vanilla- I usually use a dribble of vanilla extract. I want to try vanilla sugar sometime though 🤔
Instant coffee/espresso powder- Coffee naturally intensifies the chocolate flavor! 😃 Try putting a teaspoon of it in the batter next time you make brownies or chocolate cake.
Special: Add in whatever else you want for flavor. Mint extract. Cinnamon. Anything. This is YOUR CUSTOM HOMEMADE CHOCOLATE!
Instructions
Tools: stove, table/work area, a saucepan and a glass or metal bowl (for a makeshift double boiler), digital thermometer, rubber spatula/spoon (DO NOT use metal or wood), measuring utensils of choice depending on how much you're making, tea towel, whatever you'll be pouring your chocolate in or on
A good ratio to start with is 1 part cacao butter : 1 part cacao/cocoa powder : 1/4 part sweetener. The more experience you get and the more you taste-test and figure out your preferred bitterness/sweetness/flavor, you will form your own ratios. Salt and coffee are a couple pinches, measure with your heart depending on how big your batch is. About a teaspoon of vanilla extract is appropriate but you will learn to measure that with your heart as well.
Raw cacao butter is usually sold in big chunks. I like to put those chunks in a bag and get a hammer to SMASH them into smaller chunks, for better measuring and melting.
Note that chocolate is SUPER FINICKY about moisture! It does NOT LIKE WATER. Make sure that your tools are all clean and completely dry. Wash your hands before working with food, of course, and then make sure your hands are VERY DRY.
BEGIN
Put your cacao butter, sweetener, salt, vanilla, and coffee in your bowl. Put a little bit of water in your saucepan, maybe an inch deep, and put it on a low simmer. Put the bowl over the saucepan like a double boiler (don't let bottom of bowl touch the water).
If you're using any extra ingredients for flavor, add them in at this step, too. Whatever you do, do NOT add liquid ingredients (like mint extract) after the cacao butter is already melted. This beginning part is the only time you can add liquid ingredients. But you could add solid ingredients, like spices, later on.
Monitor your chocolate. If you're not noticing any melting of your cacao butter, start ticking up the heat a bit at a time until you start to notice some slow, gradual melting of your cacao butter. Do not start high and then turn it down, you don't want it to melt too fast.
Stir regularly to avoid getting any "hot spots" and trying to get the cacao butter to melt evenly.
Once all your cacao butter chunks are melted and the mixture looks smooth, check your temperature. Your goal: between 120 and 130F (50 to 55C). Keep stirring until you get there, might take a little bit. Might need to tick up your stove temp slightly.
Wipe your thermometer immediately after each time you check the temp because otherwise the chocolate will solidify on it.
When your temperature is in range, take it off the stove. Wrap the bowl in the tea towel and place on table. Gradually stir in your cocoa/cacao powder.
This is the point when I'll start taste testing. Is it chocolatey enough? More powder, maybe a little more salt. Is it sweet enough? More sweetener. Is it too bitter? I might add more cacao butter and put it back on the stove.
Your goal at THIS point is now to let it cool to about 82-84F (28-29C). Sometimes I have a bigger bowl of cold water that I will dip my chocolate bowl into, to chill the bottom, like an inverse double-boiler (double-chiller?). Or you can just be patient. Just be sure to keep stirring it. Doesn't have to be perpetual, tbh. Make some tea for yourself, give it a stir every couple minutes, but be very careful that you don't take too long between stirring that the chocolate at the edges of the bowl starts to solidify.
Once you've hit your cooling temp, put it BACK ON THE BOILER! Yup. Now you heat it up again! Not too long this time. Just to about 90F (32C) and then take it off again.
The final step, easy mode: let the chocolate cool a little in the bowl. You don't want it to be super runny, but you do still want it to be pourable. Lay out a big sheet of parchment paper on your table and slowly pour the chocolate all over it. Now you've got a big chocolate puddle on your table. It'll cool and harden and then you can break it apart into pieces. I usually make my chocolate in the evening so it takes all night to get fully set.
The final step, fancy/hard mode: have some molds to pour your chocolate into. Depending on how careful you're being/how long that takes, you might need to put your bowl back on the saucepan a couple of times to try maintaining the chocolate in the upper 80sF (low 30sC) while you're still working with it. Transferring a little chocolate at a time into a smaller container so it's easier to pour into the even smaller molds might be a good tactic, but whatever you choose for your intermediate container, pre-warm it. Let it all cool and harden for a few hours, ideally overnight.
Pouring tricks: if at any point you think you screwed something up and the chocolate seems a little chunky, run it through a strainer.
Storage: DO NOT put chocolate in the fridge. Cacao butter tends to absorb the scents and smells around it, which will come out as part of the flavor. You got onions in your fridge? Now you have onion-flavored chocolate. Just keep it in a bag or nice little container on your counter.
Congrats! You made some homemade chocolate!

What makes this more interesting to me is a lot of vegans say ‘think of the animals’, not realizing meat eating humans are the reason why some plants and animals are alive in the first place.
At the same time, there are some species of plants and animala out there that if we ‘didn’t’ eat or maintain, would ‘absolutely’ eat everything vegans eat and cause ecological devastation and scarcity if humans did not raise and monitor them (Pigs and Kudzu anybody?)
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg! That’s not even getting into the the delicacies of nature if the meat eaters did not monitor and maintain them. And when I say meat eaters, I mean humans and animals alike.
And sadly, a lot of the vegans that are most violently vocal, want to end farming practices by killing all the animals and making them extinct to ‘punish’ the meat eating humans, which is very hypocritical.
Speaking of hypocritical, they discovered plants think and feel too! Not just humans and animals. So there goes that argument about animals thinking and feeling.
Point is, every living thing on this planet thinks and feels, we all grow to survive, and we all try to grow in a way to maintain a balance with nature wether we realize it or not, and we all suffer the consequences if we don’t, and the un-nessisarily aggressive self righteous Vegans have not seen or predicted the harm they themselves could and already have done to an ecosystem. They don’t know about the literal forests that were destroyed to grow their special foods. Forests that contained plants and animals alike! All wiped out to cater to what is essentially a profitable fad in the minds of the corporations selling the vegan foods.
Honestly, instead of wasting your energy ranting and raving and being self righteous, put your money where your mouth is, buy some land and try and grow your own garden without the help of animals and eat the food from that and see how far you actually get. Because a lot of plants ‘require’ animals to grow either from the rotting corpses, or the shit and piss that animals put onto and into the ground. Plus, keeping away all the other animals from said garden will also be a huge challenge.
Honestly, I feel like this all started because people felt bad for the animals, which, can be noble, but it quickly went out of hand into a competition of ‘who is the most perfect person who does everything they can not to ‘harm’ or ‘use’ animals at all!’ Which is something ‘nobody’ can win if that was the case, cause microbiology. There is no way to stop yourself from killing ‘something’ all you can do is try your best to prevent it and accept and respect those that were killed when it does happen.
Sorry, went into a rant, thanks for reading!
You know what the most frustrating thing about the vegans throwing a fit over my “Humans aren’t Parasites” post is? I really wasn’t trying to make a point about animal agriculture. Honestly, the example about subsistence hunting isn’t the main point. That post was actually inspired by thoughts I’ve been having about the National Park system and environmentalist groups.
See, I LOVE the National Parks. I always have a pass. I got to multiple parks a year. I LOVE them, and always viewed them as this unambiguously GOOD thing. Like, the best thing America has done.
BUT, I just finished reading this book called “I am the Grand Canyon” all about the native Havasupai people and their fight to gain back their rights to the lands above the canyon rim. Historically, they spent the summer months farming in the canyon, and then the winter months hunter-gathering up above the rim. When their reservation was made though, they lost basically all rights to the rim land (They had limited grazing rights to some of it, but it was renewed year to year and always threatened, and it was a whole thing), leading to a century long fight to get it back.
And in that book there are a couple of really poignant anecdotes- one man talks about how park rangers would come harass them if they tried to collect pinon nuts too close to park land- worried that they would take too many pinon nuts that the squirrels wanted. Despite the fact that the Havasupai had harvested pinon nuts for thousands and thousands of years without ever…like…starving the squirrels.
There’s another anecdote of them seeing the park rangers hauling away the bodies of dozens of deer- killed in the park because of overpopulation- while the Havasupai had been banned from hunting. (Making them more and more reliant on government aid just to survive the winter months.)
They talk about how they would traditionally carve out these natural cisterns above the rim to catch rainwater, and how all the animals benefitted from this, but it was difficult to maintain those cisterns when their “ownership” of the land was so disputed.
So here you have examples of when people are forcibly separated from their ecosystem and how it hurts both those people and the ecosystem.
And then when the Havasupai finally got legislation before Congress to give them ownership of the rim land back- their biggest opponent was the Parks system and the Sierra Club. The Sierra Club (a big conservation group here in the US) ran a huge smear campaign against these people on the belief that any humans owning this land other than the park system (which aims at conservation, even while developing for recreation) was unacceptable.
And it all got me thinking about how, as much as I love the National Parks, there are times when its insistence that nature be left “untouched” (except, ya know, for recreation) can actually harm both the native people who have traditionally been part of those ecosystems AND potentially the ecosystems themselves. And I just think there’s a lot of nuance there about recognizing that there are ways for us to be in balance with nature, and that our environmentalism should respect that and push for sustainability over preserving “pristine” human-less landscapes. Removing ourselves from nature isn’t the answer.
But apparently the idea that subsistence hunting might actually not be a moral catastrophe really set the vegans off. Woopie.

Food review - Lollapalooza 08/08/09
August 16th, 2009
So my aim of getting people to buy me food for me to review has sort of paid off. We were asked by the people at The Cheeseburger Show to help them review burgers! We were given two different types if burgers from the same Chicago joint. We tried the vegetarian burger first which was made from rice & beets. It was a chunky veggie burger, normally the patty is pretty thin, but this felt meaty. You could see the grains of rice & it had a sweet taste from the beets. The bun was a nice texture & a nice size; you knew you were eating a burger. There was plenty of filling in it as well. Unfortunately it had been hanging around for a while so it had gone a bit soggy.
The meat burger had the texture of a real burger, not the texture of a McDonald's burger. With them you might as well eat a bit of soggy cardboard! You could really taste the meat with underlying flavours of onion & pepper. Biteing into it caused the filling to start running down my hands. I don't know why but getting mucky hands seems to be part of an enjoyable burger experience. The downfall of the burger was that there was so much extras in there that at times I felt like I was eating a salad sandwich rather than a burger. I like my meat!
But they were very good burgers. We agreed that the veggie was one of the best we'd had. Best burger in the USA, well it is a contender, perhaps a burger special is needed? I'm sure members of Team LC! will be more than willing.
Last time we played Lollapalooza, I never really got to experience the catering, I think there was too much free Bud going about. This time I made sure I tried it. They had a massive selection of salad from lettuce to olives to peppers. Salad is always a nice thing at festivals where it is hot. I had some pesto chicken which was tender but not that pestoie. I had some oregano potatoes which were soft with slightly crispy skins. There were plenty of other dishes, & everything was labelled whether it was suitable for vegans & vegetarians. Unfortunately I couldn't taste everything as Animal Collective were playing, & I wanted to see them.

Avalon: a Heartwarming True Cat Story by Vanessa Morgan - Deck the Halls with Books Holiday Extravaganza
EGG NOG RECIPES FOR YOU... AND YOUR CAT
No Christmas is ever complete without at least one serving of Egg Nog, the holiday-themed cocktail drink that is popular in the United States and Canada. It is a frothy beverage that contains milk, cream, and eggs. You can combine this mixture with other ingredients such as alcohol, sugar, and spices. It is best served chilled.
You can easily modify the Egg Nog recipe below to be vegan-friendly (by replacing the eggs with silken tofu and by using almond milk instead of cow's milk).
When I was in my twenties, I used to buy Egg Nog in the supermarket at Christmas-time. Nowadays, however, I prefer to make it myself.
My cat Avalon used to go all crazy whenever I pulled out the Egg Nog, so I started by making a cat-friendly version, just for him. It may sound a little crazy, but trust me on this one... Kitty Egg Nog is sure to please even the most discerning palates, and your cat will be eternally grateful to you for it.
On top of that, we are celebrating the French edition release of Avalon's memoir, so we should all indulge a little extra this year, don't you agree?
Here's what you need to make Egg Nog for both you and your cat.
Egg Nog for you
Ingredients:
2 cups of milk
3 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla powder
1/8 tablespoon nutmeg
¼ cup cream
If you like it sweet, you can add three tablespoons of sugar. Also, I usually make Egg Nog without alcohol, but if I do add some, I prefer to add rum over any other type.
Preparation:
Beat the eggs until smooth
Add the milk, cream, vanilla powder, and nutmeg (and any other ingredients)
Put everything in the blender
Serve chilled
Egg Nog for your cat
Ingredients:
200 ml cat milk
1 egg yolk
1 pinch of turmeric (don't use cinnamon as it can be toxic to cats)
A little whipped cream
Preparation:
Put all ingredients in the blender, and blend until smooth
Serve in small portions, as it is a heavy drink, even without the alcohol.
Warning! Don't use real milk for your cat's Egg Nog. After all, the lactose in cow's milk may cause diarrhea and other digestive problems in cats.
Let me know in the comments if you will be making Egg Nog for yourself and your cat this year.
Enjoy!

Book Description:
From Amazon bestselling author Vanessa Morgan, Avalon is the heartwarming and once-in-a-lifetime love story of a girl and her neurotic Turkish Van cat.
With humor, the author details how Avalon made other creatures cringe in distress whenever he was around, how he threw her dates out by means of special techniques, and how he rendered it almost impossible for her to leave the house.
Avalon was so incorrigible that even the landlord ordered to get rid of him. But beneath Avalon's demonic boisterousness, Vanessa recognized her own flaws and insecurities, and she understood that abandoning Avalon would be the worst she could do to him. Thanks to her unswerving loyalty, Avalon transformed into a tender feline and even landed a major role in a horror movie. In turn, Avalon made it his mission to be there for his human companion.
Avalon is a memoir for anyone who has ever been obsessively in love with a pet.
Avalon is also available in French.
Amazon US Amazon FR
Filming of The Strangers Outside took place in August and September 2010. Avalon joined the set for two days. The location: a vacation cabin in the woods of Sint-Katelijne-Waver, a place where shadows came alive and danced with the rare patches of light. The perfect site for a horror movie.
Outside the vacation cabin, the film crew prepared for action. Camera tripods and lights were set up. An actor in monk clothes smoked his last cigarette before the shoot.
Two large tables with food and drinks sat in the shade, each bottle of water labeled with the name of an actor or crew member. Avalon had a bottle all for himself.
Avalon was remarkably at ease on set. He examined the vacation cabin for about half an hour, sniffing his way through the dusty corners, before settling into a deep sleep on the couch.
While everyone fawned over Avalon and fed him snacks from the buffet table, the director gave us a quick rundown of the scene to come. “The camera focuses on Avalon lying on the coffee table. In the background, through the windows, we see actors Pierre Lekeux and Iulia Nastase arriving home. Avalon follows their movements with his head as they move from one side of the house to the other. When the front door opens, Avalon jumps off the table to greet them.”
“Avalon won’t do that,” I said. “Just like children, cats are uncontrollable. It’s a great idea for a scene, but I’m afraid you’ll have to come up with something less demanding.”
Apparently, I didn’t know my cat very well, because Avalon did exactly what was expected of him.
The scene was shot several times in a row and Avalon never missed a beat.
In another scene, while eating his Schesir dinner, Avalon suddenly had to look up in panic. The fear in his eyes looked genuine. He was perfect.
Sitting at the dining table, actor Pierre Lekeux watched Avalon with incomprehensibility and admiration, shaking his head in denial. “I need at least twenty minutes to prepare a scene, to enter a certain state of mind. But this cat nails it in a matter of seconds. Avalon’s the best actor on set. He’s even better than me.”
Pierre was right. Avalon had this air--he carried himself in a certain way, very much aware of his charisma. He was a natural performer. A miniature star.

Hey Steven
(Steven Grant x gn!Reader)
Fluff
Description: You tell Steven that you love him for the first time ever
A/N: I was listening to this song and just HAD to write a fluffy Steven fic for it. Enjoy <3
'Cause I can't help it if you look like an angel
Can't help it if I wanna kiss you in the rain, so
Come feel this magic I've been feeling since I met you
Can't help it if there's no one else
Mmm, I can't help myself
You danced in the kitchen as music blasted out of your phone speaker, trying to focus on not burning the food. It was date night and you were on dinner duty, which you didn’t mind having at all. You loved cooking, especially when someone else was being fed and loved to sing you praises about your meals.
Steven was going to be there at any minute from his shift at the museum and you were excited to finally see him after such a long week. The two of you had been dating for a few months and things had been so amazing so far. He was an absolute sweetheart and adored you, always wanting to shower you with love and little gifts. You couldn’t forget the day that you had met either.
You had found yourself wandering around the museum after a long shift at work, curious to see the exhibits that your nerdy friends had raved about. Mythology in all its forms was always a special interest of yours, especially when it came to ancient Egypt. You had studied the deities and myths in school, but took the fascination outside of school to heavily research it.
A feeling of peace washed over you as you explored the exhibits, seeing recreations of the gods as well as information about them. You took your time to go through each one and analyze the information that was provided on the plaques. Hours passed as you made your way through the whole museum, finally stopping back at the front lobby.
You approached the gift shop with a smile on your face, seeing all the little trinkets and plushes of the gods. Your hands found the Hathor plushie and gave it a squeeze, feeling it’s softness.
“Oh, Hathor!” A voice said from behind you.
You turned to see him, timid and clearly nervous to speak to you. His dark locks were messy on top of his head, matching the dark bags under his eyes. He certainly was cute though, even if he did seem a little scared. The nametag on his gray jacket read ‘Steven’, a perfect name for a seemingly perfect looking human.
“Oh, uhm.” Steven fumbled, trying to find the proper words. “Hathor, the goddess of love and fertility, t-the plushie you have in your hand is of… Hathor.”
“Goddess of women and the sky as well.” You beamed at him.
“W-would you like to buy it? I can help you at the desk.”
“Sure.” You nodded and stepped over to the register.
Steven was quick to help you, scanning the barcode on the tag while also trying to make it seem like he wasn’t trying to check you out. You could see how pink his cheeks were getting and how clearly flustered the man was. You paid for your Hathor plushie and he handed you your receipt.
“Thank you, Steven.” You said with a bright smile.
“You are certainly welcome. Is there anything else I can do for you today?” Steven asked genuinely.
“You can give me your phone number.”
A knock at the door snapped you out of your daydream. You placed the wooden spoon down on the counter and quickly rushed over to open the door. Steven smiled and stepped into the doorway, roses and a box of chocolates in hand.
“Hi, love.” He leaned down to give you a quick kiss. “I got these for you.”
“Steven, you didn’t need to get me anything!” You chuckled as he handed you the roses and chocolates. “You’re too good to me.”
“The best things for the best girl in the world.” He closed the door behind him and took his jacket off. “What’s for dinner, love? It smells amazing.”
You made your way back to the kitchen to stir your food. “Vegan Mediterranean-style tofu and risotto. It’s a recipe I found online that I wanted to try out.”
“Sounds lovely. Need me to do anything?”
“Just make yourself comfy, it should be ready in just a minute.” You turned to pause your music so you could hear him a bit better. “How was work?”
“Long. Inventory day.” Steven said, sticking out his tongue in disgust.
“Yucky.”
You turned the burners off and grabbed two plates, filling them with aromatic tofu and risotto. Steven hummed as you handed him the plate, clearly hungry after a long day. The two of you sat down at the small kitchen table, indulging in the warm, delicious sustenance.
Once your bellies were full and the thought of cleaning the kitchen was becoming an unwanted task, you sat and joked about little things that had come up through your day. You never knew that someone could make you laugh so hard until Steven came along. His jokes and quips nearly had you in tears. He was so charming and smart and funny and you had no idea how you had gotten so lucky to find someone like him.
“Should we move to the couch and break open that box of chocolates?” You suggested.
“I’m in.” Steven beamed.
You planted yourselves on the couch, with the box of chocolates on the coffee table of course, and cuddled up to Steven as he flipped through channels on the TV. His eyebrows furrowed in focus and he looked so cute like that.
You had never felt that way before. Not for anyone. And then Steven came along and he made your heart race and gave you butterflies in your stomach. He was so caring and gentle, he always wanted to make you feel safe and loved. He would go out of his way to do anything for you if it brought a smile to your face. You would do all the same for him if it meant him sticking around.
You loved him. You loved Steven.
Holy shit. You loved Steven.
“What’s wrong, darling? You’re staring at me, do I have something on my face or something?” Steven curiously asked, his attention now fully on you.
“Hey, Steven?”
“Yeah?”
“I love you.” You told him, feeling suddenly aware of all the warmth in your body.
Steven’s cheeks turned red and he immediately became flustered. “I-I’m sorry, did I hear that right?”
“I love you, Steven.” You giggled.
“I-I love you too.” He smiled down at you. “I love you too, Y/N.”
You leaned up to kiss him and he pulled you into his lap, wrapping his arms around you tightly. He cupped your cheeks and looked into your eyes with amazement and love.
“So what now?” Steven asked.
“Now we break open those chocolates to celebrate.”

When I lived in my cooperative at college we were all supposed to clean, cook, buy food, and make decisions collectively.
Getting people to do anything was impossible. Most shifts of cooking and cleaning had one to two missing people (they were rotating groups of 3) and we had tearful screaming matches when the people that did show up pointed out that the rules said you got kicked out of the free housing and free food if you missed three shifts without cause. Then we found out the food buyer (he had a special super huge single room and had no other chores) had not only not ordered anything useful, but had also run out of the cooperatives budgeted money about three months before the second semester.
Bunch of people were kicked out and a bunch more left because they didn’t like the vibe. I’ve known people who could quote Marx chapter and verse who used it as a way to skip helping anyone out. A cooperative isn’t a way to save money or live life with less work. People don’t get that. It’s a job to serve your community and the people who screech the loudest are the ones that won’t contribute.
This one girl didn’t want any non-local food. In winter. In Ohio. She was weeping about it. No citrus or non winter vegetables. But we had also voted to be vegetarian with vegan options every day (except Sunday where we had eggs and meat allowed which surprise surprise was the only day everyone showed up for.)
It was the individuals responsibility to learn to cook. And plan the meal with what was left in the kitchen pantry.
What I’m saying is a community is 10 times the work of four room mates pooling together for food and cleaning. People think it’s some sort of fantasy. Those people don’t contribute Jack shit. They bail when they realize a community doesn’t mean you get a new free mom to clean and cook for you. It changed my entire perspective on communists because the way they talk reminds me one for one of the worst people at the cooperative. All talk but no actual work to contribute. Worst they have no understanding of budgeting or resource management because they see both those things as “dirty” capitalism.
There is no “sometimes you have to help X.” You always have to do shit you don’t want. And it’s always with people who piss you off, or are fucking your ex, or broke up with you because of bs, or are sexist, or are actively shit talking you to your friends. You have to be basically arranged married to 100+ people and the social politics are worse than in high school because now all your food money is on the line and you can get kicked out of your house for being unpopular.
Sometimes I think people want all the benefits of community while doing none of the work involved to make it so.
Sometimes I think people's idea of community is a place where social strife never happens and there's never any conflicting interests or needs.
And sometimes I wonder if all of the people demanding action have ever done anything actionable for someone that isn't just like them.

There are a few Asian markets even online ones which sell fake everything, fake shrimp as well and in fucking bulk 😮 I buy a lot of meat replacement online, like vegan spam (never had the original). Not saying everything is super tasty but still. I think nowadays HK, Singapore and Philippines are the best in this regard. I love dumplings so much you don't understand, send them over!
I think at this point most fast food chains offer something vegan or at least vegetarian. DO NOT SAY THE NUGGS WEREN'T VEGAN PLS 😭 no they were, one of my friends got the regular ones and they looked a bit different, but my brain was tripping. Fearless is much cuntier imo, but I know I'm in the minority because most people seem to prefer Antifragile. Merry... Birthday?
Pairing: Dean Winchester x reader
Summary: You love christmas, but Dean doesn’t. Yet, he might make an exception for your birthday this year.
A/N: This one goes for @negans-lucille-tblr ‘s secret fic exchange. My secret Santa was @katymacsupernatural. Hey, honey! I hope you enjoy this and happy birthday! You deserve double presents, so here’s mine. All mistakes are mine!
Divider by @talesmaniac89 !
You loved Christmas.
It was probably a nostalgic longing for your long gone urban life. Just in the same way you’d still catch yourself looking through the news for election results or feel your stomach twist if you didn’t eat homemade food at least twice a week. You were dead to the government and certainly spent more on the road than in a home. Besides, you had met up with God enough times to know him. All the encounters and screaming and unapologetic abandonment should make you want to throw any baby Jesus against a wall or even climb on a Christmas tree just to shout about all the hoaxes so perfectly molded in patterns through our brains like braids.
Yet, something about you loved christmas.
The pretty lights always shining, it didn’t matter where you go. For once, all the city-- everything would be entirely made of light. Their incandescent glow always companishing each person, either it was in an once treacherous alley or only to make the kids' grin bigger as they watched them among the busy streets with wide eyed gazes. The confusion in the kitchen that often ended up with huffs bursting into chuckles between the smell of meals that were too much and would make a room for leftovers for the rest of the week. How everything seemed to be made only of happiness, and nothing could ever cut through those water; all the knives were suddenly swords for kids to play and no white gun. In Christmas, a house became a kingdom for every heart. Everything was good and felt through the skin to the bone, like a single glimpse, a hidden day of what would be paradise.
That was how you were raised, at least. The Winchesters didn’t share the same mindset, no. While you grew up with decorating the tree, they were hiding bodies in the dim light. Leftovers were all through their whole year, and Christmas was described as good or not with one single criteria: snow streets. They had to take one? Annoying date. They didn’t and there was eggnog? Bearable Jesus’s birthday.
Yet, you attempted to make the bunker the more festive possible: buying a bunch of christmas lights, cookies’ ingredients and even a small nativity scene. Your attempts to enjoy the date’s niciities ended up with Sam breaking his arm after crashing on the ground because you insisted on him putting the lights in a place higher than his age, not to mention the burned cookies that looked more like tiny monsters than gingerbread men.
Your parents used to make this look so much easier.
Although the youngest Winchester understood a little more about the concept of holidays, a believer in the good until the very end, his brother didn’t share the idea. You couldn’t say you were surprised. Dean just had two barely normal christmas in his life: one when he was dying and one with Lisa and Ben. Both situations made it to his heart only to shatter from the inside.
‘’Baby Jesus?’’ Dean snorted, shaking his head at the sight of you adjusting the weird little dolls in the nativity. He placed another ruined cook in his mouth, speaking with his mouth full next: ‘’We have the son of Lucifer, guess that counts.’’
‘’Don’t say that once Jack gets home.’’ You rolled your eyes, turning to face the oldest Winchester with your hands on your hips. How could he eat that? You couldn’t even make it a bite and Sam only had half of those. ‘’And stop eating those. They are burned.’’
‘’I’ve had worse.’’ He remarked, adding another cookie to his mouth. You grimaced, wondering for a brief moment how your boyfriend could be simultaneously the guy who saved the world and a man with the taste of a five years old.
‘’Yeah. But I’m the one who has to hear you whining about your bellyache later.’’
‘’I don’t whine--’’ You arched your eyebrows at his statement, making Dean huff in agreement. ‘’That was once and because of Sam’s weird ass vegan bacon.’’
‘’You acted like you were dying.’’
‘’My tongue was!’’
‘’So get this.’’ Sam’s voice interrupted your childish argument, catching the attention of both hunters like a shiny object did to a cat. ‘’Apparently we got an earlier christmas gift.’’
‘’What is it?’’ You asked, approaching the table.
‘’Three teenagers disappeared in the forest, all personal objects left behind.’’ Sam explained as Dean scratched out his neck to glance at his brother’s computer screen. Nothing like a case in Colorado. ‘’The authorities think it’s a serial killer. But one of the girls, Kayla Wodson, said she saw a weird, skinny giant take her friends.’’
‘’Ho ho ho and three bodies.’’ Dean clapped his hands together with a wry curve of lips. ‘’Alright. Let’s hit the road-- Wait, wait, wait. Where do you think you are going?’’
You were standing beside Dean while Sam raised to his feet, ready to pack his bags. Dean, nonetheless, was quicker than his brother, soon putting himself in front of Sammy; hands protectively standing in front of the youngest’s chest to keep him from moving any further.
He shook his head with a scoff. ‘’Dude, come on.’’
‘’Not happening, Sammy. You got a broken arm.’’ You mumbled a sorry along Dean’s big brother speech, to which Sam replied with a comprehensive smile. ‘’Y/N and I take care of it.’’
‘’He’s right. Must be the first time in his life, but he is.’’ Dean turned his head, furrowing his eyebrows at you ‘’Don’t worry. It’s just a wendigo anyway. ‘’
‘’Okay. Just…’’
‘’Don’t forget the fireblazer. As if your brother would miss an opportunity to use it.’’ You scrunched up your noise, causing a chortle out of Sam while Dean commented something about grabbing the specific instrument and walked away. ‘’Maybe you could call Eileen. Ask her to help you to back some christmas cookies.’’
Sammy shook his head at your wiggling brows. ‘’That doesn’t sound as sexy for me as it does for you.’’
Dean Winchester was good with numbers.
Not the urban numerical sense of the deal, of course. He almost didn’t make it in sixth grade with useless geometry and all that, and he still used his fingers to count when he had to deal with an equation. No, his good and quick way with numbers was easier, intrinsic to his head.
How many years since mom died? Seventeen. How many people did he have to save? All of them. How many years had he left? Less than he once owned.
Hunter math was simpler, and was all he really needed since he was four years old, running from the fire with his baby brother in his arms-- which brought him to the second section of his particular geometry: birthdays and death anniversaries. Dean never, ever forgot any special date. Those were his own holidays, the only worth celebrating and remembering. His wishes, grief, and cherishment were reserved for the people he loved, not some celestial assholes who saw his life like a book.
Therefore, his mind went on a golden rush for your day as soon as the Wendigo hunt took more than you both expected. You wouldn't be able to make it home before your birthday, which would be ending shortly, a matter of two or three hours. His inner engineers were useful tonight, in his vision, useful enough to make those sappy movies jealous. While you were washing some guts and leaves away, Dean went to the nearest convenience store. His long arms nesting a bunch of stuff he never dared to touch in years. The cashier with drowsy eyes and escarlet Santa hat seemed bored with his shopping, probably because she saw an uncountable amount of people buying the same things over and over. He couldn’t blame her for the suburban exhaustion. If anything, it was a small comfort for his war orbs to see and be a part of a scene so mundane.
He hustled back to the dive motel room, singing in relief to himself once he stepped in and heard you singing Christmas Tree Farm while the water rushed in. He grimaced at himself for recognizing that Taylor Swift song. How couldn’t he? That woman was 80% of all you heard everyday. Man, he was whipped.
Tilting his head back in reality, he started organizing in clumsy manners of putting everything in place for you. His bruised hands touching so carefully the fragile ornaments to make the motel room with grubby walls and weird black stan on the floor that only seemed to grow a little more like you.
You, the woman who put up with him, who laughed at his stupid jokes, and who watched Scooby Doo, all snuggled up to him every friday. You, the woman who switched from AC/DC to Taylor Swift and then Eric Clapton. You, the one who understood his job and helped him to wash off some of the blood on his hand and never got scared of how red the water could get. You, the girl who rolled her eyes at his first attempt of flirting and now stole his french fries and kissed his lips as if he was worth being delicate with. You, his breathing, his true holiday, his only act of faith besides Sammy.
Dean pressed his teeth against his bottom lip, looking up and down his little manual work. Part of him said it was ridiculous, he surely would make a lot of fun of Sam if he did that to a chick. Yet, mostly he was proud. He wanted you to like it. It wasn’t even near to what you deserved, but it was a piece of it. It was what the Winchester could give you, and that would be hopefully, enough.
While Dean was caught in the crossroad of judging and admiring his surprise, you left the shower with a towel wrapped around your head and lips mumbling Cocaine. Your feet glued to the ground once you witnessed what was in front of you: the room was decorated with christmas lights, a tiny plastic tree on the table, right beside a pie with candle on the top and two cup of what smelled like hot cocoa.
‘’Dean…’’ Your tender tone brought him back from his traineck thoughts as he turned around to glance at you. You chortled in astonishment as he raised his eyes and said surprise! ‘’What’s this?’’
‘’Well, it’s your birthday.’’ He shrugged, scooting closer to you with a smirk. Dean smoothly wrapped his arms around your waist, yours instantly resting around his neck. ‘’In my defense, they just had christmas stuff. Blame your parents for having you close to Jesus’ special day.’’
‘’Christmas stuff include pie and not cake?’’ Your brows knitted together, a heartwarming smile on your lips as you watched his expression marked by multicolored little lights. He smelled like something was a blaze, and you knew that was for standing too close to the candle and not for burning a body this time. Small changes.
He scoffed humorously. ‘’You like pie better anyway.’’ He nodded at the carnival-like situation around you two. Dean Winchester wasn’t the kind of man who got insecure, but you could catch a perk of brand nervous hesitation as his green eyes shot you an anxious glance. ‘’Did you like it?’’
‘’I loved it.’’ You pulled cheeks dimpled with joy that was kissed by Dean’s own smiling lips. The kiss was so gentle, it was his own palpable light hearted emotion. You being happy in his arms. It had been so long since he felt he could be enough, he could make someone happy. But you were right there. As you pulled away, another short kiss was given between playful words: ‘’That’s what I call a christmas miracle.’’
‘’Shush.’’ He leaned in and pecked your lips. As Dean pulled back, he couldn’t help but watch around with the pride of Hubris. His glance went back to you, a lopsided grin on his face. God, you loved that smile. You loved that man. ‘’So I added some whiskey to the hot cocoa. We could drink some, eat the pie, and see if those lights make a good improvise rope. What do you tell me?’’
All you could do was kiss him again.

Stray Kids Reaction: S/o Going/Is Vegan
A/n: So this was a little cracky but I hope you all like it! (sorry not thoroughly edited) lets be honest the boys have probably been on weird diets so they would probably be chill with it....except for Changbin....cause he loves his meat
Requested by: anonymous
Tag List: @distrikt9 @mini-meanhoe @poeticallyspaghetti @hanstagrams @desertofdessert @yangomangos @hoes4hoseok (Tag List is Open)
Chan:
“You’re what now?”
Your boyfriend asked flopping on the couch. He had come home to you cooking in the kitchen, a new smell filling your apartment. “Vegan.” The asparagus you were sauteeing in a pan smelled incredible...-to you. The substitute butter sizzled around the vegetables. “I noticed I haven’t exactly been eating well with my classes piling up. So, I thought I would just change my diet.”
Chan nodded and walked into the kitchen. You held up a spoon to his mouth letting him taste the food. His lips closed over the metal utensil and you watched him chew. His eyes popped out of his head and he nodded. “It’s so good!” You slapped his hand away from getting more. “Well, you know I’m all for a healthy lifestyle.”
Chan helped you finish cooking and the two of you sat down to eat. He watched with a smile as you poured yourself a glass of wine and took a sip. You met his stare and smiled. “What?”
“Did you check if that wine was vegan?”
You froze, fork halfway to your mouth. “Isn’t all wine vegan?”
“No,” Chan said with a laugh, sipping on his own wine.
Grabbing the bottle you scanned every inch of the label. Chan tried to stifle his laughter, creating ripples in red alcohol sitting in his glass. Sighing, you set the bottle down and pushed your glass away making Chan laugh.
“Welp...I don’t know what I’m going to do with the other three bottles I bought.”
“There are cheat days for vegans too.” He wouldn’t stop laughing the rest for the remainder of dinner.
Minho:
“I’m starving; are we there yet?” Minho asked adjusting the cap on his head.
Your hands swung between the two of you as you strolled through the streets looking for the food district. You had been shopping all day and it was well past lunch. “Should be just around the corner.” Each of you carried bags from various stores, but you felt happiest that his hand was wrapped around yours.
After a few turns, you arrived on the street full of restaurants. Your eyes scanned the signs looking for something suitable for you to eat. Minho began pointing at random restaurants, delectable aromas floating from their dining rooms. “What about sushi?”
“Meat.”
“Burgers.”
“Meat.”
“That place.”
“It’s korean barbeque, babe.”
“YES! The best kind!” You laughed and pulled him further down the savory smelling street. “What about that place?” You shook your head seeing photos of meat-based dishes on their windows. “Y/n, can we eat in the century?”
Minho trudged behind you, failing to pull you towards a pizza place. “Minho, you know I’m vegan.”
“Yes, I know. You’re a rabbit. But, I want meat.”
Changbin:
“Aren’t you hungry, baby?”
Changbin’s long fingers maneuvered the chopsticks to flip over a few pieces of meat on the grill in the middle of the table. You hadn’t been dating for long. He had invited you to meet him and Chan for dinner and you were not about to pass up time with him. “Um...a little.”
You watched Changbin and his friend happily chew on the juicy meat. He didn’t seem to notice your visible gulp and the goosebumps crawling over your skin. You were doing your best to ignore the distinct smell of the barbeque. “You want some?” He held a perfectly cooked piece out to you.
“Uh-...no thanks. I’m good. I’m actually vegan.”
Changbin stopped mid-chew. He turned to Chan before looking back at you. “Wait...what does that mean?” Changbin looked genuinely confused, his cheeks still stuffed with food. Chan apologized, flagging down a waiter and asking for something for you to eat. Meanwhile, Changbin still staring at you completely clueless.
“Dude...she doesn’t eat meat or animal products.”
“YOU DON’T EAT MEAT?” His eyes went wide in utter disbelief. It was hard not to laugh. “How do you survive?”
“It’s actually a really healthy way to live. Plus it’s better for the Earth.”
“But.....meat...” You smiled watching him stare at the plate of vegetables being placed in front of you by the waiter. “Meat....” He whispered again, looking between the grill and you plate.
Hyunjin:
“Y/n, do you have food?”
Your boyfriend was calling out to you from somewhere in the dressing room. You looked down at the bag of baked veggie chips in your hand. “Yeah! I’m over here, love!” Hyunjin shuffled over, his hair pushed back by a headband and setting powder lining under his cheekbones. “Baked snacks for a baking boy.” You said with a laugh.
He smiled sitting next to you. He reached over stuffing his hand in the bag and stuffing a few in his mouth without even looking at what it was. You watched his face melt into disgust. “Ew. What is that?”
Handing him the bag he looked at it like it was something from an alien planet. “It’s baked carrots and other vegetables.”
“Yes....but why....”
“You do remember I went vegan like two weeks ago?”
Hyunjin stared at you for a minute seemingly trying to remember the conversation you had about thirteen days ago. “Wait- so what did you do with the candy I gave you yesterday?”
He watched you shrug and look around the room. “I gave it Jeongin.”
“You just gave it to Jeongin?”
“Yeah, I can’t have it. I’m serious about this diet.” Hyunjin nodded and continued to stare at the bag of chips in your hand. You were starting to think he had spaced out on you.
“Does all your food taste that bad?”
Jisung:
“What’s for lunch, baby?”
Jisung came up behind you, wrapping his strong arms around your waist. His chin rested on your shoulder as he smiled down at your working hands. “Avocado toast with Roma tomatoes, red onions, and a vegan mayonnaise spread.”
“That sounds like heaven.” Jisung moaned behind you.
“It really doesn’t bother you that I’m vegan?” He shook his head and stole a thin slice of the avocado you were cutting.
“Not really. I mean-... I miss sushi sometimes...and cheesecake. But, I can have all those things at work or on special occasions. I don’t want to argue over a silly thing like this when you are obviously such a good cook regardless.”
You laughed and kissed his lips, backing him up against the counter. Jisung smiled, hands gripping your waist. “You really love me that much?” He nodded and kissed you again. “More than cheesecake?”
“Sadly...yes.”
You giggled, playing with the ends of his hair. “Okay, time to eat.”
Jisung cheered and watched you expertly plate the food. Your hands nimbly worked on delicately placing the avocados atop the other ingredients on the toasted bread. The two of you sat down side by side plates in front of you. You watched Jisung take the first bite, like usual. His eyes lit up before devouring his first piece of avocado toast.
“Don’t tell Felix...but you’re a better cook than him.” You laughed and lovingly placed your hand on his arm before eating your own lunch.
Felix:
“What are we thinking for dinner tonight?”
Felix was looking at a shelf further down the aisle from you. Turning back, he watched you shrug. “Um...I don’t know. What about we make vegan burgers?” Beneath the mask Felix was wearing you were certain he was smiling brightly.
“That sounds good.” He rolled the cart back over to you, tossing a few things in your cart on the way.
“We could do portabella mushrooms for the patty. Ooo! Do they have avocados?”
Felix laughed, watching you get excited about food. He was so happy that you loved cooking as much as he did. While he was surprised that you were vegan, he loved exploring new recipes with you. He was still shocked that he could now make so many things that didn’t even have meat or cheese or eggs.
“Lix, they have red onions on sale! Buy two get one free!”
His eyes widened seeing you holding two bags of the purple vegetable. “The question is,” Felix began, taking the bags and putting them in the cart. “Do they have vegan cheese here, or do we have to make a second stop?”
You shrugged, looping your arm through your boyfriend’s as he pushed the cart towards the cheese part of the store. Felix smiled at your little affectionate action. Going grocery shopping with you was always one of his favorite things to do. Granted, it took a huge chunk out of his paycheck because the two of you always got carried away. But, your fridge was always fully stocked and the two of you hadn’t had a bad meal since moving in together.
“They might have some. I did see a cool recipe for vegan brioche buns. I think we have the stuff for them at home.”
Felix nodded and pushed the cart towards the checkout. The two of you waited in line, your arms wrapped around his stomach. “I’ll bake, you cook?”
“Deal.”
Seungmin:
“So, you don’t eat meat?”
Seungmin stared at you questioningly. You simply continued to drink your tea as you sat across from your boyfriend in a cafe. “Or cheese. Or eggs. Or milk. Basically any animal products.” Seungmin nodded, trying to wrap his head around the concept.
“Not even beef?”
Your fingers played with the label on your cup. “No. No, beef.”
“What about steak?”
“Min, that’s meat.”
He nodded obviously still thinking. “So...” You sighed, ready for my questions. It was tiresome sometimes having to deal with a society that couldn't accept a diet without dead animals in it. “What do you eat?”
“Plenty of things. I’m actually a pretty good cook.” Seungmin sat on the edge of his chair completely invested in this fascinating topic. “I can make basically any meal you can think with a vegan substitute.”
“Anything?” Your boyfriend watched you nod. Seungmin took another sip from his coffee. His long fingers drummed across the table. “What about surf and turf?” He laughed seeing you roll your eyes.
His laughing stopped when you kicked his shin under the table. “You better watch it Mr. I’ll sneak into the dorm and stuff zucchini in your ears.”
“Not carrots?”
“No, I like carrots.”
Jeongin:
“No meat. At all?”
Jeongin stared stunned at the bowl in front of him. “Yep.” The metal of his spoon clinked against the white bowl. Unphased you continued to eat the amazing meal you had prepared.
“So...what is this? What are those dark chunks then?”
“It Eggplant, mushrooms, tofu, and rice noodles in a spicy Szechuan sauce. It’s good. Try it.”
It was almost comical watching Jeongin approach the dish. He sniffed the food on his spoon, a cautious look on his face. Hesitantly, he took it into his mouth and began chewing. You watched his facial expression waiting for the result.
Your boyfriend swallowed the food, pursing his lips, and nodding his head. “Okay, so it’s good. But, that says more about your cooking than it does about vegan food.”
The two of you enjoyed the rest of your dinner and Jeongin even helped you clean up. As you finished up washing the dishes you noticed Jeongin looking in your fridge. “Are you still hungry?”
He shook his head when he felt you hug him from behind. “There isn’t even cheese in your fridge!”
“Jeongin...that’s what vegan means.”
Jeongin still seemed to be searching your fridge for what he now knew would not be there. Still hugging him you watched as he opened up your freezer. You backed away, ears splitting from the high pitched scream your boyfriend let out.
“WHERE’S YOUR ICE CREAM?!”

Happy Yule!
I have plans to cook a nice Yule Feast tonight for my family and I, but I don’t really know what to do beyond that. I know that I don’t have to do anything if I don’t want to or don’t feel up to it, but I genuinely enjoy doing activities to celebrate the Sabbats and such. Any suggestions?
Also, I had really vivid dreams last night. I don’t fully remember them but I get bits and pieces and it’s just very odd. They were so fantastical and there were definitely elements of survival, overcoming difficulty and obstacles, even a concept of like war in some ways, and it was full of magic and mysticism and fantasy themes. It was very intense, and as I’m waking up, I am definitely noticing it affecting the tone and emotions of my day.
sorry if this is weird but first of all you are really beautiful
secondly I agree that cooking at least 1 nice dish really makes the day. It’s just any other day we really don’t have themed dinners so it kind of makes it more special.
When planning feasts I take into account how many people I am serving and dietary restrictions so if it’s a feast for myself I usually think of like 1 main dish including some veggies and a dessert since I can’t eat too much alone (I’ve tried and ended many sabbats with stomach aches lol). If it’s family/friends gathering then it’s usually like 2 veggie dishes, usually 1 being cooked veggies, another being a salad of some kind or for the colder months a puree like mashed potatoes, a meat main or if they are non meat eaters then a casserole bake of some kind and then I love baking for dessert cause it fills the house with a nice smell.
-
For yule’s 2 veg dishes you can do like roasted parsnips and brussel sprouts with rosemary and pine & mashed potatoes (add truffle and/or cheese if your fam eats cheese). Everyone likes 1 whitish veg with cheese on it for this time of year for some reason like maybe it’s the visual of it being wintery. In England cheesy cauliflower is like a staple for food this time of year.
Then for a main you can do a roast with red wine, chopped shallots and butter. If you guys do not eat meat then maybe something like a mushroom pot pie. I think you can get vegan puff pastry from a super market and just roll it out on top of a pie dish with sauteed veggies and mushrooms and voila lol. I think it’s the same vibe for mushroom wellington but I’ve never attempted at making a wellington in my life (let alone knew what it was until I moved here) but it looks like a nice filling vegetarian/vegan main dish for yule. (It’s basically a ‘meatloaf/veggieloaf’ wrapped in puff pastry). An even easier thing you could put together could be a veggieloaf and add some seasonal sauces on it and make it super buttery and full of spices.
Depending on how much you like to cook and how much work you feel like doing you can either get a nice yule log at the market (they usually have some good creamy ones) or if you know a nice bakery by you check if they have any. Yule Logs can be sooo incredibly good, super easy to dish out at the end of the night and have with some icecream. If you can’t find one nor feel like buying it, you can toss together some red velvet cake. It’s the easiest festive cake I can think of that will be nice to put together next to all the food you’ll have to cook. Either red velvet (which is just a red chocolate cake with cream cheese lets be honest haha), a black forest cake (chocolate, cherries and cream) or a ginger bread cake depending on your preference. You can find the mixes ready made or if you have the flour, sugar, baking powder, eggs, oil and milk its not too hard to make the batter for a plain cake and add the additional flavorings/colorings after. Alternatively you could end the feast with an array of cookies and hot chocolate since this holiday is big on cookies. Cookies can take way more effort to put together but they are a chance to be creative, combine arts and crafts with food and definitely make the house smell incredible.
Another dessert idea is a sugar pear tart (get yourself the roll-out pastry and save yourself the time), it can be really easy to put together cause all you have to do is chop some pears and put them in a bag to soak with sugar, spices and wine. Let it sit for a few hours (probably as you cook the other stuff) then just throw the pastry over your pie-tin, add some jam to the bottom if you have any and line up the pears inside and bake for like 30min.
Also I don’t know if your family enjoys drinking but maybe dishing out some mulled wine before the food can get them feeling festive and build up an appetite for the food to come. You just got to simmer some red wine with spices and sliced fruit. (It’s like a hot sangria haha). Alternatively there’s a lot of festive easy drinks you can toss together if they would like a cocktail like gin + cranberry and ginger ale will taste like a holiday candle. Whiskey + Ginger beer and cinnamon will work amazingly too. White Rum + Eggnog will go great for sweeter and creamier drinks, just add some simple syrup to the mix to smooth it out (or apply like light amounts of rum cause it could overpower the eggnog). Anyway if your family already has ~the liquor cabinet~ maybe see if there is anything in there you can turn into a festive drink or just get some mulled wine going.
.
Also about your dreams it’s interesting you brought up war cause I definitely felt that vibe. Your dreams sound really insightful though. I am working on my 2021 year spread right now and there is some intense themes but that also could be cause of my Saturn Return is this year :/
Anyway I hope you have a great Yule! It’s wonderful that you are cooking for your family.

✨ OTK SPOILERS ✨
You know that thorn scene from book 1 and how Agatha and Tedros got scratched up a bit, well some of those scars never healed and they still have some - Agatha has a couple gnarly ones on her leg - Tedros loves them
During their reign at Camelot Agatha and Tedros sometimes take a few days off when things get a bit fought and stay at the house in Avalon for a few days maybe a week for some cute quality time together. This way they still the chance to be all domestic and stuff without the pressure of an entire kingdom - They never sleep in the master bedroom tho - they’ll mainly sleep either by the fire or cuddle on the couch (let’s just pretend that if they leave sophie in charge she wouldn’t cause total chaos and destruction when they’re away)
When anyone uses a really powerful spell or something their veins and eyes start to glow up with their finger glow colour
Hort has a pirate ring he got from his father that he keeps a secret from everyone but Sophie - he eventually gifts it to her
Yara is a music prodigy
Kei constantly wears those big oversized ugly sweaters, Rhian swears he hates it cos it’s not 𝑎𝑒𝑠𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑡𝑖𝑐 but he secretly loves how cuddly they are
Tedros is actually really educated (I mean he is a prince and had Merlin as his tutor) but he’s just a dumbass by nature like he can immediately tell you the DETAILED history of any kingdom in the woods but if you ask him what the main ingredient in pasta is he’ll short circuit - it’s the himbo in him
When Agatha returns to Gavaldon in AWWP she had trouble sleeping for several months so Callis was very worried. So, when Callis saw Agatha and Tedros sleeping so soundly together once she was just like” hmmm maybe he’s not that bad” and it’s then that she realises that although she may not like him 100%, he’ll always be there to protect her little girl 🥺
After the events of OTK however it’s Tedros who has trouble sleeping (he did get BEHEADED fuck) and its Agathas turn to be the comfort cuddler
Somehow the red pendant that Agatha wore to the circus of talents was given to her by Tedros. She still has it and took it with her when she left in QFG (I don't know how exactly this works but its cute sefbjsdg)
At Camelot Agatha cannot be fucked wearing royal dresses all the time so when nothing “official” is going on she just dresses super casual in like pants and t shirts with her hair in ponytails or what not (Tedros doesn’t care all that much because Agatha in pants is hot)
Sophie constantly tries to sit in Nicola’s lap because she’s so smol and while she loves her to death she has to literally pick her up and yeet her off if she’s ever gonna get anything done
Nicola is a great chef and her and Sophie have these cute little dinner dates where Nicola makes all the food and Sophie buys all the wine
One of the first things Tedros does after OTK is commission a statue of Chaddick to honour him - it’s of him shooting an arrow into the distance
When August and Evelyn were growing up she definitely pushed him down a well once and he probably used to make up things about her future just to purposely piss her off
Tedros doesn’t actually know how to play rugby he just grabs ball and run
Chaddick tried to explain it to him once but it turns out he doesn’t actually know either
Yaras the only one who does but finds the whole thing entertaining so she refuses to say anything
Kei is very into astronomy, Rhian not so much but he still listens very attentively to everything Kei says because he just looks so darn cute when he rambles and is like “hmmm yes pls go on bb ♡ᴗ♡”
They also used to sneak out to go stargazing and watch the sunrise
On Tedros’s first birthday after OTK Agatha really wants to make it special considering the past year so she gets him a baby golden lab
This Labrador becomes his best friend - sometimes when being king gets overwhelming and Agathas not there it’s his best golden friend that calms him down and makes him feel better
Millicent’s a vegan
Sophie and Tedros still have their little late night rooftop convos
Ravan secretly loves rocking chairs and will literally just sit in one the entire day just rocking back and forth - he just finds them soothing
Dots a really a bad gift giver but no one has the heart to tell her or the courage to face Hester and Anadil
In QFG before Chaddick went off on his quest and while Tedros was ignoring Agatha they hung out a bit and had some great times. He also showed her some basic fighting tactics and how to use a butterfly knife after watching her attempt to hold her own against a punching bag. He immediately wondered how in the fuck she was still alive
When they were at graves hill tedros thought Agatha's baby portraits were adorable and constantly teased her about it - Agatha does the same
Rhian has a sweet tooth- Kei would always sneak extra sweets for him
#i just want domestic tagatha and nicphie nfjdjsjjsja#is that too much#sge#the school for good and evil#school for good and evil#avani says shit#headcanons

Department One: Apparel And Jewelry
What are you wearing today? Just a white duster dress. Very loungewear-y, hahaha. I didn’t feel like wearing shorts today.
What does your favorite shirt look like? At the moment I’m obsessed with my Vante shirt. It’s fanmade but it was made tastefully; the designs aren’t too loud and I love the cute little shoutouts and tributes to his past paintings, so it had been a ridiculously easy decision for me to want to buy it.
What kind of underwear do you prefer wearing? Eh I don’t really have a preference as long as I don’t find them uncomfy.
What are your favorite kind of jeans? I’m definitely still stuck in my mom jeans phase. Idk man, I just love how they match nearly all kinds of tops.
What do the last pair of shoes you wore look like? They were adidas sneakers. Not a big fan of chunky shoes but it’s an Ivy Park and it was on a big discount HAHAHA so I didn’t hesitate to get them.
How many shoes do you own? A little more than 10. I love shoes and wanna collect them someday...just not today, hahaha.
How much jewelry do you own? Not too big on jewelry; most, if not all the ones I wear are just borrowed from my mom since we share the same style anyway.
Do you own any real diamonds or other expensive jewelry? Yeah, the ones I would borrow from my mom are pretty pricey.
Has anyone ever gave you jewelry as a present? Yes, I received rings and necklaces from my ex. One of my aunts also gave me a necklace when I turned 7.
Do you like diamonds or gemstones better? I just stick with diamonds...which is...also a gemstone too, if I’m not mistaken.
Silver or gold? Silver.
Department Two: Electronics
Do you have a DVD player in your car? Not in mine, but we do have one in the family car. I used to watch movies on there often but after one grueling road trip where my motion sickness acted up, I haven’t wanted to use it since.
If you have one, what does your camera/camcorder look like? I just use the camera in my phone but back in the day I used to have a DSLR; that was when I thought I wanted to take up photography, heh. It was a Nikon D3100.
How much did it cost? I’m not sure since my dad gave it to me as a present, but a quick search told me it would’ve cost him around P20,000 which issssss wow more expensive than I thought.
What kind of cellphone do you have? I have an iPhone 8 with an LCD screen that’s deteriorating by the day HAHA. I really need to get a new phone.
How often do you send texts? I text just for work purposes now, so it really depends on how busy my accounts are. Some days would require me to send out more texts than usual.
Do you have your own computer or does your family share? I have my own laptop. My workplace also provided me with what’s supposed to be my work laptop, but they had it sent to me when I was already a couple of months into my job and all my needed files and programs were already in my personal laptop. Since I was too lazy to start everything all over again, I’ve never actually used the work laptop haha.
How many computers are in your house? We have three laptops in total - my siblings and I each have our own. Kind of a necessity these days.
Do you still have a VCR? I don’t think so.
How many DVDs do you own? We probably have around 30-50 but most of them are movies from like the 2000s that we just haven’t thrown out. Personally, I have about five DVDs of old films like Gone with the Wind, Rebel Without A Cause, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, etc, and recently I’ve been buying BTS merch so DVDs are part of that mix too.
Does your car have a GPS? No. I use Waze on my phone instead.
What kind of iPod/MP3 player do you have? Haven’t used an iPod in like a literal decade. I use Spotify for my music.
How many songs are on it? Spotify doesn’t work that way since it’s technically a database of songs.
What size is your TV? Never bothered to ask/check.
How many TVs are in your house? Four. Living room, dining room, master bedroom, my brother’s room.
What video game systems do you have? We have a PS3 and PS4.
What about handhelds? Switch. I believe my sister also still has her DSi stored somewhere.
How many video games do you have? Probably somewhere around 50-60. My dad and brother are content with repeating their games lol.
Department Three: Home
What kind of shampoo do you use? It’s a Dove variant but I’m just blanking out on the specific name/what it does.
Soap or shower gel? Shower gel.
What does your comforter look like? It’s pretty colorful and has geometric shapes and lines.
Does it match your pillows? Yep, they come in a set.
What size is your bed? Twin.
Do you or your parents like to decorate the house with various things or is it plain? My mom puts considerable effort in decorating the house but it’s nothing overboard that it feels tacky. There’s enough decor in enough spaces.
Does the furniture in your house match? Sure. I imagine my mom would be very irritated if she felt something was uncoordinated at home.
What does your couch look like? It’s a gray L-shaped couch. Gabie broke a portion of the couch’s springs when it had only spent its like first two weeks at home but surprisingly my mom has not noticed it yet; probably because she barely sits on that side.
How many does your dining room/kitchen table seat? It has six chairs, though since we’re five one of the chairs is almost always unoccupied.
Do you have any fancy china? No, my mom isn’t the type to collect those.
Do you have outside furniture? Yeah we have a table and chairs up on the rooftop, if they count.
What do your curtains look like? My siblings and I have pull-down blinds. The other rooms have these pulled-back gold curtains that’s accompanied by white sheers.
Department Four: Grocery
What kind of bread do you get? Sliced white bread, always. Sometimes my mom will pick up pan de sal, but she gets those from a certain bakery and no longer the grocery.
What is your favorite kind of cake? CHEEEEEEEEEESECAAAAAAAKE.
Do you get a lot of sweets from the grocery store? Eh, nah. Not a big fan of sweets.
What kind of soda is your favorite? Don’t like soda.
Do you drink juice? What kind? I can take it or leave it. I wouldn’t buy it for myself.
What is your favorite chewing gum? Doesn’t matter to me. The flavors last for only like a minute anyway.
Do you usually get candy from the check-out aisle? Nah. Those are far more accessible so who knows who could’ve touched or tampered with them. Plus, I mentioned I don’t like sweets.
What is your favorite soup? Miso or cream of mushroom.
Have you ever had soup when you were sick? No. I don’t enjoy hot beverages/liquids very much so I doubt I would feel comfort from soup when I’m sick.
What are your favorite canned vegetables? Not sure if it’s a cultural difference thing but canned vegetables kind of sound gross and I don’t think I’ve encountered those (I actually had to look it up lol). My parents always buy fruits and veggies as is.
What do you eat for breakfast? Fried rice is a constant but my mom switches up the set of viands every time. Some of the meals she serves would be hotdogs, eggs (either scrambled, omelette, fried, or sunny-side up), corned beef, dried fish, hashbrowns, luncheon meat, tapa, and Vienna sausages. Poptarts or toaster strudels? Poptarts. I’ve never had toaster strudel and I’m honestly not sure what that is.
What salad dressing do you prefer? Spicy mayo.
Ketchup, mayonnaise, or mustard? MAYONNAISE. I can live without the other two.
What kind of cookie do you like best? I only ever eat chocolate chip.
What kind of snacks do you get at the grocery store? Salted egg chips or Pringles. Not a big fan of snacks either. This survey is making me realize I’m way more into full meals than anything else.
Do you get the meat from the deli? Er, we don’t have delis here. Too fancy a concept lmao. If we have them, they are most likely in those extremely upscale, boujee neighborhoods.
What is your favorite frozen dinner? I mean my dad buys frozen meat, fish, etc, but the frozen dinner sets that I see in American culture, which I’m guessing is what’s being referred to in this question, are not common here.
Do you prefer frozen dinners to actual cooking? I honestly can’t imagine how it’s filling, but then again I’ve never tried it. Personally, food made from scratch is still the best.
What is your favorite kind of pasta? Fettuccine.
Do you eat meat? And if not, do you eat vegetarian meat? Yes, I eat meat. I get vegan options if they’re accessible and affordable, but those choices are hard to come by here.
What is your favorite fruit? Avocado is really the only one I’ll give a pass to. Everything else tastes horrible.
What about vegetable? Broccoli, bell peppers, green beans.
Department Five: Health And Beauty
What kind of makeup do you normally use? None. If I absolutely have to put on makeup, I will begrudgingly put on foundation, maybe some eyeliner, and lip gloss. And they will all most likely be borrowed from my sister.
Do you wear more makeup on special events? Not necessarily.
What is your favorite makeup brand? I wouldn’t be the right person to ask because I would just say none of them.
Do you use any acne products? Mmm no, I just splash water on my face, really. I actually got into a conversation about skincare with my co-workers yesterday and besides the usual shocked experessions I get when people find out I don’t use products, they recommended I at least get moisturizer and sunscreen. Idk, let’s see but historically it’s been hard to convince me to invest in skincare haha.
What kind of perfume do you use? I have one of Beyoncé’s perfumes, Heat Rush. I don’t actually know if that’s still in production but it’s been my staple for like a decade or so now.
Have you ever been on a diet? No. I never really had to be on one.
What products do you use in your hair? Shampoo and conditioner.
How often do you brush your hair? Only when I have to leave the house or have an important virtual work meeting.
What do you take when you have an upset stomach? Nothing. The toilet usually solves that for me lol.
Do you take any prescription medicine? Nope.
Department Six: Movies, Music, And Books
What is your favorite movie of all time? It’s been Two for the Road for a solid nine years and it doesn’t look like anything’s on its way to dethroning it anytime soon.
What genre of movie do like best? Drama. The more realistic it is, the better.
What was the last movie you watched? It’s a Korean film called Be With You. I liked it and I cried waterfalls, but the ending was so rushed it was kind of disappointing.
What was the last movie you purchased? I don’t buy movies. If I wanted to see a film I’ll check if Netflix has it, then if they don’t I just try to scour one of those illegal movie streaming sites that always happen to have thousands of pornographic ads hahaha.
What is your all time favorite band? Paramore. Do you still buy CDs? Only from artists I’m an extremely huge fan of. Right now that would be BTS, so I’m catching up on all the albums they’ve released in the last eight years.
What was the last CD you bought? I got the Butter album set, if that counts. If it doesn’t, the last full-length album I purchased was Dark & Wild.
What was the last song you listened to? I think it was Permission To Dance.
What is your favorite book? I haven’t found it yet.
Do you even like reading? I used to love it a lot more, to the point that back in grade school I was known as always having a book in my hand. I just don’t know where that passion went.
How often do you read? Nearly never. I mean...I do read fanfics, I guess; but I won’t count those.
Department Seven: Sports And Fitness
Do you own a bike/scooter/skateboard/etc.? We do have a bike at home, but that doesn’t mean I know how to ride it. We don’t have the other two.
How old were you when you learned to ride a bike w/o training wheels? I still don’t know how to last on a bike without training wheels heheh.
Have you ever been camping? Nah.
How often do you work out? Nope but at work my boss just started another fitness challenge, so I’ll probably have to get back on working out soon just because I would want to accomplish the challenge.
Are you in good shape? Sure, I think so. I’m not like fit fit because I neveeer exercise haha, but I also don’t make it a point to constantly eat unhealthy foods or have an unhealthy lifestyle to the point that it affects my body.
Do you go to a gym? I do not. I thought of getting a membership at the start of the year but I’m glad I didn’t push through with it because all the gyms are still closed anyway.
Have you ever been fishing? No. Idk if it’s my kind of pastime or not.
Have you ever been on a boat? Yeah. My country has like 7000 islands so I was bound to get on a boat at some point in my life haha.
Can you play golf? Never seemed interesting to me so no. Even on Wii Sports I barely picked golf.
Ever rode on a golf cart? Yeah, in resorts where we had to ride them to be taken to our room.
Would you ever go hunting? That’s an easy no.
What is your favorite sport? Pro wrestling or table tennis.
Ever played on a sports team? No, my school didn’t have a table tennis varsity.
Department Eight: Toys
What was your favorite toy as a child? Cash registers because I liked the buttons. Also Play-Doh sets that had those contraptions that would squirt out the clay in various shapes.
Do you still play with toys? Well, no.
Do you collect any toys? I don’t, but I’m not opposed to start buying Funko Pop figurines of people or characters I’m interested in.
Did you ever have building blocks? Sure, but I was never creative enough for them.
Did you play with dolls? No.
Barbies or Bratz? Which were better? BRATZZZZZZ
What is your favorite board game? Scrabble.
Do you like to do arts and crafts? Hell no.
Do you think that kids now have it better than when you were young? For sure, but isn’t that kind of the goal?

Survey #304
“she’s got a hold on me / maybe she is just what they want me to be”
How many foreign friends do you have? Only one that I know of that actually immigrated into America in their life. I think. In which countries do they live? She was born in Asia, either China or Japan. What was your dream birthday party as a kid? I either wanted to go to the skating rink or Chuck E. Cheese. Have you ever come up with your own game? As a kid, definitely. Whose hand did you hold last? Probably my niece's or nephew's if they were taking me somewhere. What was the last thing you planted? Habaneros, I think. Do you have a green thumb or are you all thumbs with plants? I don't really try with plants because I'm not interested in the maintenance. What or who was the last thing you gossiped about? Does telling your therapist about another person and what they do to stress you out count? lol Any books on your night stand? Wings of Fire: The Brightest Night. Would you ever consider going vegetarian? I was briefly one, but I had to introduce meat back into my diet because I just hate too many foods needed to keep me healthy without meat. I would love love LOVE to go vegan, but I just can't. When's the last time you helped a senior citizen somehow? Probably holding open a door for someone in a wheelchair. What's the most selfless act you have done? I don't know... Maybe letting my mother use all my Christmas and birthday money (which was a lot) to take care of bills to keep us from being evicted and losing the car. She was going to pay me back, but then cancer happened. Have you ever intentionally fed a house spider? No. What makes you feel lucky? The fact I have a roof over my head, food on the table, access to water... That kind of stuff. Never take it for granted. How many Lidls are there in your town? One. Last time you went to Ikea, what did you buy? I don't believe we've ever bought anything from there? But I wouldn't really know. How do you like your favorite beverage? Really cold in a can, heeeeell yeah. What's your big family secret? We don't really have one. What did you think you were good at, until you saw someone else do it? I remember thinking I was the "gifted" artist in school until I met my acquaintance Cailin in the 5th grade, lol. She is SO talented. What is something nice going on in your life right now? My partial hospitalization program is going well. I'm getting more comfortable with talking via things like Zoom, it's a good opportunity for me to socialize with like-minded people almost every day, and I ADORE one of the teachers so much so that I want him to be my normal therapist. I have never in the entirety of my life felt less judged and more cared for from any therapist before him, and it's almost supernatural how easily this man reads people. You could twitch a certain way and he picks it up. I'm ready for him to teach more of the sessions. What was the pinnacle of wealth to you as a child? The idea of owning one of those toy crane machines, haha. If I saw one in a store, I would like beeeeg for it. I remember I cried once when I came across one I adored, it was just too expensive, lol. I did eventually get a little one, I think. What's something that you hate, but can't live without? My meds. What skill do you not talk about, because you feel it sounds like bragging? I don't really brag about anything I think I'm good at because I feel bad about it and don't wanna emit a "better than you" vibe. Who's the worst person you've encountered on the Internet? Ahhh, a lovely "friend" nicknamed Shakes. God she hated me. If death wasn't a consequence, what would you try? Probably ride a motorcycle. I'm too scared to risk the possibility of crashing, and those wrecks are nasty. What's the dumbest thing you've heard someone say? There's this one video of a TV show host thinking the moon was a planet and it was just- What is the worst smell you can remember? This smell was forever branded into my memory as if it was fuckin trauma. When my late dog Teddy had a massive, infected cyst near his ~you know~ and also wore diapers because of incontinence with his age (also keep in mind he had a UTI we couldn't afford to fix, and that smells bad enough), changing the diaper he would wear overnight could, swear to God, be enough to make you puke. It literally came to a point that I personally could no longer do it. It sounds so so bad and selfish, and it probably is, but Mom had to do it before she left and came home from work; she's way less fazed by stuff like that than me. Yes, when we had the money, we got the cyst removed. What song gets better the louder it gets? Only like, every song I enjoy. The louder the better until it becomes obnoxious to others. What's the biggest inconvenience that does NOT ruin your day? Having to pee at like an unnatural frequency? haha What's something everybody should know how to do? Cook... which I don't know how to do. What is a great movie no one knows about? I'unno. I don't really know the success level of most movies unless you see stuff about it everywhere. What type of person could the world use less of? Rapists, pedophiles, monsters like that. What makes you tingle? I have this odd reaction to rubbing my hand while someone is holding it???? idk why????? What’s the best Wi-Fi name you’ve seen? Oh MAN, I wish I could remember 'em all. I've seen some goodies. What's easy to learn, but hard to master? God, it's pathetic that my immediate response is related to a video game, haha. Then again it's such a common idea that it's basically a meme in the World of Warcraft community. So, playing hunters in the game. They're argued to be one of the - if not the - easiest classes in the game that requires little to no skill, while as a hunter main, I disagree with the second part firmly. I don't know about the other specializations because I don't play them, but at least in beast mastery, it takes focus and thinking ahead to master your rotation for optimal damage and just to generally be a skilled player of the class. Not to mention you need to watch your pet(s), too. What's something you've changed your opinion on? Wow, LOTS. Tons of political ideas, like my stance on gay rights, transgender folks, etc... If you had a refilling bowl, what would you want it to contain? For some reason my mind immediately jumped to fresh strawberries. I'm picky with the firmness of fruit, so I won't eat them if they're older because ew. If your bedroom had three portals to anywhere, where would they lead? I mean this in the least creepy way possible, but Sara's house so we could actually hang out, Dad's house so I could see him more, and then uhhh South Africa to regularly see meerkitties. You can ask any author one question about their story. What do you ask? Oh, I dunno. I've got some for writers of other media, but I guess by "author," you mean this is for books exclusively. If you have caffeine late in the day, does it cause you to struggle with your sleep? Shit, I wouldn't even know because I essentially always have caffeine in my system. I don't believe it affects me. When you struggle to sleep, what do you do instead? Keep trying to sleep, or more common than not, I do exactly what you shouldn't do and get back on the laptop for a while. Who was the last person you spoke to for the first time? How did you come to speak to this person? My most recent therapist in the PHP. I love love love him. The therapists rotate the days they teach, and he was the last one I met. Are there any TV shows from your childhood that you still watch today? I'm not opposed to it if I actually watched television. Do you enjoy buying gifts for other people, or do you never know what to buy them? If I actually have the money to, omg yes. I honestly do think I create or buy very thoughtful gifts, and I just really enjoy reminding other people that I love and think about them. Who were you with the last time you went out for a meal? My sisters, Mom, and I went to the Cheesecake Factory for my birthday dinner. That place has come to oust Olive Garden as my favorite restaurant, haha. What’s the last thing you watched on TV? Is this a programme you watch regularly? I believe it was this amateur cooking show called Nailed It!, I think it was, with my mom when I sat in the living room with her for dinner one night. Do you have a favorite documentary subject (eg. nature, celebrities, history, crime)? Absolutely animals. Does having to wear a mask stop you from doing anything, just because you dislike them or find them uncomfortable? Do not fucking talk to me if you're anti-mask. If I set foot in public, I'm wearing a mask like a goddamn considerate human being. Do you prefer zip-up or overhead hoodies? Overhead. I really dislike the appearance of zippers on them. If you have a yard or garden, how much time do you spend out there? N/A When was the last time someone bought you flowers? What was the occasion? I think it was the first time Tyler came to my house. This was quite a few years ago. When was the last time you stayed overnight away from home? Was this with friends, family or in a hotel somewhere? What was the occasion? Hell, I'm pretty sure I haven't slept over anywhere since the last time I was visiting Sara, which was like, two years ago. What’s your favorite period to learn about in history? What got you interested in this particular era? The Renaissance; I always found it to be an attractive subject, art being in its "glory days" and all. My Art History course in college really hooked me in. What is the smallest thing you lose your temper over instantly? Homophobic bullshit. What's a job that doesn't get enough respect? As others have said before me, teachers might just top the list. The shit they gotta put up with for so little pay... What did you take for granted until you visited another country? I've never left America, so I wouldn't know. Who is your favorite scientist and why? I don't have a favorite; I don't know nearly enough about any. Do you prefer emoticons or emoji? I'm from the emoticons era, so I'm biased, haha. How did you meet your pet? Roman was the kitten of one of my sister's mother-in-law's females. They have quite a cat problem and wanted to adopt the kittens out, and Mom knew I desperately wanted a cat, so there we go. One day when we were over there, she showed me the kittens, and Roman caught my eye instantly with his beautiful blue eyes. Venus, I "met" via the Morph Market, a reptile hub website for selling, as the name implies, reptiles that are generally morphs of their species. I was clicking through the genes, keeping my price ceiling in mind, and really fell in love with champagnes, and I thought Venus in specific was just absolutely beautiful. I officially met her as a little thing mailed to me, and she was and still is just the sweetest. I wanna point out that when I chose Venus, I hadn't the slightest idea that champagnes harbored "the spider gene," as otherwise I would have avoided adopting her and feeding the market. Regardless, I love her to death and wouldn't trade her out. Did/Do you have any PEZ dispensers? I did as a kiddo, yeah. Do you enjoy erotic stories? If so, do you read them or write them? No; they make me really uncomfortable. When writing RP, some scenes can get sexual, but I have my limits for sure and know when to stop writing and just time-skip. If you had to choose, which one would you rather have: a pet or a baby? Keep the baby away from me. Gimme a plains hognose or tarantula, please. ^Why did you choose the one you chose? I don't want kids at all but would love the mentioned animals as pets. Do you live with your parents or on your own/with a partner? I live with my mother. What's the car of your dreams? I don't have a "dream car." Have you ever witnessed something or someone die? Animals, yes. Has anyone ever told you that you snore or talk in your sleep? I don't snore, but I talk a LOT. Do you have any houseplants? No. Are you more on a laptop or a desktop computer? I only have a laptop, and I prefer them for portability's sake. If you could do absolutely anything, what would you like to do the most? Entirely leave behind my anxiety, probably. Or PTSD. Do you think your parents raised you well? Yeah. Dad didn't really take much part in "raising" us/enforcing rules and stuff, but hey, my sisters and I wound up being good people. Do you have a Facebook? Yeah. Do you know any of your neighbors? Definitely not well. We haven't lived here long at all. Does/did any of your relatives have an interesting, nowadays unusual job? I'm sure somebody does. Have you met your ideal partner yet? I think so. Have you had a serious relationship yet? If so, how many? Yeah, two. Do you enjoy books, magazines or comic books the most? Books. Are your parents old-fashioned or up-to-date about certain things? Dad is more old-fashioned I think, while Mom is pretty up-to-date. Do you or did you at some point keep a diary? I very briefly did on a few occasions. I always had a journal I wrote in during all my hospital stays. Have you ever upcycled trash into useful items? I remember I once followed this craft idea on Animal Planet where you turn a milk jug into a bird house. We never got any birds in it, though. Which color Skittle do you like best? The only right answer is red. What’s your favorite element? Of the classic four, fire. If you had your own radio show, what would it be like? YIKES, I don't want one. Don't make me talk in front of (through a radio or not) people. What has been the biggest surprise you’ve ever gotten? An "impossible" breakup over Facebook Messenger lmaoooo. Is there a holiday you can’t stand at all? There aren't any that I "can't stand," but I do hold at least some degree of dislike of ones bastardized by religion. It's disrespectful as fuck. Who is your favorite person in the whole world? My mom. Has there ever been an activity you became obsessed with? I was definitely obsessed with RPing in my early teens. Like, I ALWAYS wanted to be writing it. What has been the strangest place you ran into someone from your past? I can't think of an occurance. What is something people tend to come to you about? Anything related to English and grammar. If applicable, what's the furthest you've traveled because of a hobby? For purely a hobby, definitely not very far, partially because I can't drive or afford travelling via plane or whatever. Do you have souvenirs from other countries? If so, what and from where? N/A What do you do when someone is talking to you about something you don't care about? Pretend to be interested to avoid being rude. Do you have Photoshop installed on your computer? Yeah. Do you put lotion on after you get out of the shower? No, but I need to. Has anyone ever given you a promise ring? No. Do you have any bruises on you? Yeah, on my shin. When getting in Ash's van the other day, I hit it against the thing that helps you step up into the vehicle. Because of my muscle atrophy, I, and I am not kidding, can barely manage to absolutely yank myself up there. And mind you, her van isn't even very high up at all. My legs are just that damn weak. Any changes in appearance lately? Gaining weight is fucking lovely. Who was the last person to call you babe or baby? Probably a gal friend commenting on a selfie or something on Facebook. Do you hate the person you fell hardest for? Sometimes. Do you actually care about other's problems? Probably too much for my own good. Have you ever gotten a teddy bear from someone? Besides my mom, I don't think so.

What I actually want to eat.
I have been plant-based since I was 12. This was a long time before beyond meat burgers, chicken McNuggets or even good plant-based milk. I used to get my burgers from the frozen section and, they’d be pea and carrot and my soy milk from the “alternative diet” isle alongside the gluten-free crackers. Over the 11 years, I have been plant-based, I have even a lot of Christmas dinners; some good some bad.
If you or a loved one is: plant-based, vegan, vegetarian, flexitarian, pescatarian, dairy-free, gluten-free or a combination of these, then this is the list for you.
I am a dairy-free pescatarian this means, I eat fish and other animal products, just not dairy ones, along with lots of veg. However, as a student, my daily diet is actually vegan. This is because it is cheaper and more financially sustainable for me to eat like this and I save eating fish and seafood for special meals and take out. Furthermore, I have many people in my life who (through medical advice) are on restrictive diets: no gluten, no sugar, no dairy, no soy, no nuts etc. Therefore, I think I’ll be a pretty good guide into this world!
First, as a plant-based person, I want all the sides and trimmings. I want mash potatoes, roast potatoes (no goose fat thx), all the Veg, Yorkshire pudding (if that’s on offer) and some veggie gravy. There is no need to make me separate sides after all; the person with different dietary habits/ needs probably already feels guilty about causing the chef any extra work as it is.
Second, this list is from the simplest to the most complex, I am also only talking about the Main course. If you want tips or ideas for other courses you may be doing, comment on this article or send me dm on Instagram (same handle as this page).
1.Veggie Sausages — if you want a minimalist dinner these are for you! They cook quickly and easily and go along with every other traditional part of a Xmas dinner. They are also great the next day, cold or hot eaten with leftovers. There are many to choose from so I am sure you’d be able to find soy and wheat-free ones if that’s your thing.
These are some of my faves:
Cauldron sausages
Linda McCartney
Sainsbury’s own brand- shroom dogs (they do multiple versions, all good)
The moving mountains sausage
Vegetarische Slager/ the vegetarian butcher
2. A Pie — you may be thinking “Woah, didn’t you say, we were starting off simple?” and I did, I mean a ready-made one. Pie’s are hearty, comforting and rich; three things which Xmas is all about. They also go great with all the sides and, they are individual. I have found more often than not that other people sitting around the table, get quite curious about what the person with the different meal is eating. A pie solves any attempts for people to steal a bit if they do its quite noticeable.
I like:
Linda McCartney Country pie (this is soy mince, I think they also have a chicken one that, I find weird)
Higgidy Pies Vegan Mushroom and Kale
M&S Made Without Wheat Gluten-free Steak and Red Wine pie (this has meat and gets high ratings from my gluten-free meat-eating mum)
You could also have a Cornish pasty but, that might be a little too much.
3.Fish — You can choose any kind you like and can cook it any way you want. However, if you are having hearty traditional veg you may want to avoid light fish like; cod, plaice and sole. They won’t be able to stand up to the strong flavours and may get overpowered. I like monkfish, it is meaty and holds it own on a traditional Christmas plate.
4.Polenta/ Corn Meal — It may seem simple as it is just hot water and corn but, the tricky part is *all* the whisking to keep it from going lumpy. It can be found in most high-street or Asian supermarkets. However, check the back of the pack for instructions, you’re looking for one with a short cooking time. Buy the pre-cooked one as or else you’ll have hours of work on your hands. This dish is found all over the world but, for Xmas dinner, I am recommending the northern Italian version of it. It is great served with fish, roasted mushrooms, tomato-based veggie stew — give it a quick google and you’ll find plenty of inspiration. Do not skimp on the salt or fat though, this is meant to be rich, creamy and hearty. I use oat cream and vegan butter along with olive oil. I also add veggie bouillon/stock into the hot water to get more flavour and salt in there. The best part is, is that it is gluten-free and pretty cheap!
5.Homemade pie — homemade pastry with any and all of the filling variations you want! I like Quorn or Linda McCartney mincemeat but you could just do a ton of veg- it is up to you. If making your own pastry is a bit too much then check out the ready-made stuff, a lot of it is vegan.
6. Salmon en croute / Coulibiac — This is the toughest level but highest payoff. Salmon en croute is heart, warming and fancy, it goes well with whatever you want on the side and could be for everyone and not just the odd one out. Coulibiac is another pastry-wrapped dish and can be made with salmon or completely vegetarian/vegan. You could experiment or just stuff the pastry with your favourite things.
Lastly- none of these products are sponsored but, if you’re a brand I mentioned, and you like what I am saying, please get in touch. I also didn’t realise how many of my festive foods include something wrapped in pastry! Just remember, you can eat whatever you want for Christmas, its only one day a year, even if it isn’t something traditional.
