people have been complaining about how all the character progression “isnt dark enough” and when they brought new characters to om there was a huge back lash (in part due to fandom misogyny @ 13) to characters being mean again and like. idk I hate how i saw nothing but “ohhh i wish it was back to how it was early game” or “ohhh the japanese version is so much darker” and it KILLS me to see those exact memes and jokes translated over to nightbringer AT THE COST of the main story. 

OM has always been intensely fan desire driven to it’s own detriment via events and a lot of unsavory fanservice, and it frustrates me deeply that when om’s main story got even a little conflict driven, people hated it, often due to how lessons were released.

It’s very much a game thats caught between trying to satisfy as many people as possible and tell a story that doesn’t give itself enough room to breathe - certain beats need multiple lessons to tell, and when people whip themselves into a froth over a dramatic moment that isnt full resolved, it’s rough.

general idea for our fankids though is that yes, they were created super young. and as babies. so aurore wouldve been crafted a few years before eilé :)

the second half of your questions- yes!! isafrin! theyre older and different!! wahoo!

the older isafrin designs were moreso. i wanted to have a little fun and made them. lawl. but now i get an excuse to share anyway :) so here!!

numbered the details to make it a lil easier. also dont mind these r quick scribbles,,

1- general outfits and stuff. siffrins i wanted to keep mostly similar to how i usually draw them. sleeveless top, horrible and unnecessary amount of belts,, knowing that hes maybe not as eager to change as some others might be. they are comfortable in their style and thats what matters. for isabeau i wanted to keep a familiar vibe, but still change it up. i think he would still wear clothes that are flowy-er etc etc, buuut yeayeayea. not an outfits guy really so jfkf theyre pretty simple.

2- themb!! they look different! siffrins hair is longer obv obv, and no lightless dye anymore. they tie it back usually, but he still likes it long. also some facial hair. important to me. (you may also notice lack of eyepatch,, personal hc that siffrin gets more comfortable without it after making up with bonnie some more. that he maybe depending on it a lot because he thought it would make them uncomfortable, which theyyy dont have to worry about. anymore! so less eyepatch. sometimes still though). isa on the other hand looks mooostly the same! except. ofc. bigger beard. you guys should know i love my beards by now. lawl. other than that mostly the same,, physical pain in me trying to think of a different hairstyle for him… maybe in the future but for now he gets This.

3- new cloak-thing for sif! his regular cloak is probably much more well suited for the travelling lifestyle, much less the domestic stay-at-home lifestyle, soo they changed it up! (and totally not an excuse for isabeau to try out craft stitching nooo definitely not as practice for the future whaat who said that.) they will still wear the old cloak occasionally, buuut not as often as they used to.

4- finally! bonding earrings!!! yes! the designs themselves are pretty simple. squares and change symbols for the design sif made for isa, and a star with bits that go ding-ding that isa made for sif. more importantly, siffrin carved the earrings himself! it is. hard. to do that. a design that is so small. there were many failed attempts and scraped ideas but they got it done! and isa loves them very much. for isas design, the main star part is glass, and the dangling bits are carved gems (picture isabeau, panicking because this is siffrin hes making these for so it needs to be perfect. and he gets odile to help him, because despite all the teasing she is ofc very fond, and helps him out with that aspect of the design.)

since ive been too College to have enough art for any sort of summary im just gonna put a general year end rundown of what i feel i did best on this year!!

i think every year since i figured out that i dont need to use pens to line has just gotten better art wise for me. FUCK lining. pencils are my best friends forever and ever and can do your job better than you ever could. anyway apologies for some of these drawings being crunchier than others, i only recently got a scanner and Cannot be assed to scan my old art for this post rn.

also the first art here is a hatoful boyfriend spoiler. i mean i guess the last one is too but its vaguer i think. anyway. none of these are actually analyses of what i learned with each art im just braining

april 5th-

you guys know this one i REALLY like it. why in the goddamn were my best pieces this year hatoful boyfriend. anyway i uh. hey did you know that i didnt do the notgeki with graphite because i like mixed media. i did it because i have not owned a grey pencil for my some-teen years of drawing ever. i only JUST got a grey pencil like. a couple months ago. i mean im good with graphite i would have done it like that anyway but. yeah. anyway this was abt the height of my beginning hatoful fix and Also indirectly what got me to meet like a bunch of my mutuals here!! i did. not know there was a hatoful community. and because That i actually started using tumblr so!! hey thanks hitori. i need to do more birdform art.

april 15th -

this motherfucker! ill be. completely honest i dont have a lot of feedback for a lot of my graphite art bc ive Been doing this. ok actually yknow what i will say. there is a limit for how dark something can be with graphite and i Very much remember going over the inside of the cloak So Much. this was my pet project during my weekly 3 hour long lecture so god bless it. also i do still like how i did the eye. can i draw eye guys exclusively please.

july 3rd -

not really Art im proud of but!! holy shit i dont design often and i dont hate this!! this is at least in part thanks to my gf. my gf knows how to clothes better than i do so i did ask them for help. also i really need to scan this one. or maybe draw her a new ref. anyway (holds up celine) look at her. look at the silly.

september 6th -

this one was a trade for my friend raicatty and. also something i probably should have scanned. but its fine. anyway this one did teach me something and its To Line Your Damn Pieces Darker. lining with the color that youre going to be coloring in is kind of Asking For Disaster if it overlaps with others and u can. see that. this is a bit imparseable. but its also pretty. and thats all that really matters. a fun fact for when i ever do commissions is that being allowed to use this purpley pink pencil i have will make me really happy. its so pretty.

forgive me for including a sketch in this but YOU DONT UNDERSTAND IVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO DRAW HUMANS. like. NEVER. much less in an actual decent pose. (god bless adorkastock) im So very delighted by this oboromaru and hes!! like!! one of my least favorite characters!! (not to say i dislike him hes just lower). i dont know what happened here!! if this wasnt at the very back of my Sketchbook I Just Put Away Because It Was Falling Apart id say id finish this one later. rip. he and that dark daroach sketch i had there can just vibe i guess.

things i learned from this one! 1. the scanner did not pick up the red lines very well! 2. scanners are good! 3: NEVER do a full page project again! buuut i do want to say i am like. insanely proud of this one. its the first art ive done i can really say has any sort of Composition and im so delighted that it turned out just as cool as it looked in my head. also this took forever and i could have easily messed it up Multiple times in the process. so god bless.

I usually write OC fics because OCs are fun, but I don't like to have more than one or two cause it's hard to manage so many threads but shameless has me in a chokehold and there are way too many things i want to address/fix so I've gone and made a whole family so I can address all the different things but also keep that same family sticks together and supports each other vibe that is core to shameless

#1 thing for me is hispanic representation; the show gave me a taste with anne and then shot me right in the chest; thats fucked up, man; as of 2022, chicago's hispanic population makes up 28% of its demographic which mexicans being the most prominent hispanic population in that percentage. now, i know the southside specifically is predominantly white--jewish, polish, and irish, hence the Gallaghers and Milkoviches; but still the representation feels uneven

all that to say my OC family is Mexican--The Vázquez Family; there's 4 of them--they all share the same dad, but they don't all share the same mom.

the oldest is Nora; she's gonna help me deal with some of the Fiona stuff I really didn't like in the show; namely, 1. Fiona should've been bisexual, idc; i'm giving Fiona a bi awakening; i also wanna address the biphobia of some characters 2. Fiona didn't need to leave the south side; the south side wasn't the problem; the problem was the people around her; all she needed was someone to actually support her and be there to pick her up; she was always there for her family, but then they weren't there for her in the same way--which makes sense because of the mother/children dynamic they have, but like she deserves that support from someone; also i really like when there's a friend trio so V, Fiona and Nora are gonna be savage together

next is Alessandra; she's trans representation because I don't think they did the best job with that; they didn't do the worst job; but some of it was kinda weird? i dont have all the words for that yet; but also im adding a Milkovich OC too and she and him are gonna be a bit messy at first but wholesome like V and Kev because we need more of that

then the main one, Ximena; I'm saying from the bat that she's autistic, but she doesn't know it at the beginning; she's gonna be what Carl deserves; but also just two different types of autistics understanding each other; she's kinda fucked up and a mess so her relationship with Carl is going to be messy; buuut Carl needs someone who supports him, yes, but also listens to him, understands him, helps him communicate, is patient with him, doesn't judge him or look down on him for how he is, etc. I also want to explore him having a disability; do more with white boy carl and give that arc depth;

and last is Marko; he and Ximena are the same age, but not twins, they just have different moms; he's gonna be the friend Carl needed to help with his character development and give him someone else who isn't a love interest to support him and be there for him

The Milkovich OC is Avgust, known as Aggy; and I created him cause I don't feel like the show did a good job with certain things re: the Milkoviches; I think an older brother figure that is not a piece of shit would be good to help spur on certain character development for Mickey and also Mandy (who I am going to have leave, but then come back and actually come back and rekindle her friendship with Ian). Though I'm unsure what to do with Mandy outside of this; but maybe her become a secure independent woman is what her growth should be about

Am also thinking about Svet because I like her a lot and she deserved better; learning toward keeping her, v, and kev together and just choose to ignore the cringe ICE mini-arc situation and V's out of character lack of empathy

Still working out what I'm going to do with Lip; I want to give him the character arc he should've gotten where he gets humbled; but I'm still deciding the best way to go about that and then I have to think about what that would end up changing in the overall plot; but I'm pretty inclined to have him get beat up at some point cause he deserves it

Also still working out what to do with Debbie; Ximena is definitely going to be friends with her cause she needs a friend! I thought I was going to like Sandy and I was thinking of doing something with that but I didn't so I'm in limbo here; although part of me wonders if a relationship is what Debbie needs; she's spent so much of her life chasing for a relationship and love that maybe the best end point for her is to be single, but have a strong group of friends that support her and are there for and to learn to be okay with being single because she can get love in other forms?? still thinking about it.

And Liam; still thinking about what specifically to do with him too, but I want to make him a well fleshed out character with complex relationships with his siblings, which the show really didn't do well at all; definitely want more sibling bonding with him and Carl they are so cute together and I think Carl could be a good role model for Liam cause Liam is too much like Lip and he doesn't need to go down that path to being a dick

ok first of all before i forget what the FUCK was up with that little girl holding the "screensaver is still out there" sign, what did villian woman fucking plant that child there? why wouldnt her brother notice that? WHY DID NO ONE ELSE IN THE CROWD NOTICE THAT THAT CHILD MUST HAVE A MOTHER...

secondly, on one hand im bothered by the "ooga booga watching screens bad" ideology the villain had... but also, she was the villain, so??? i guess it checks out as ok???

im also a bit surprised the business man was not the bad guy, like of course it was either gonna be him or his sister its super obvious... but like since it was his sister id expect the brother would know a bit at least. but nah hes just like... good syndrome i guess??

which is another thing, im not as bothered by the villain being another super rich inventor as i was when the movie was announced, but i AM bothered that hellen didnt like... pick up on some extra bad vibes the moment the screen on the train said "welcome back elastigirl"

like HELLEN, HONEY... you JUST dealt with this same set up not less than a month ago... sure it was bob in the position but you saw the fall out... you shouldve at LEAST been suspicious of winston

like "HEY, winston, are you setting up these fights for me??" "what?! no!" moment of tension, and depending on how far into the movie we are its either 1) hellen accepts that and moves on with the plans or 2) villain woman enacts her plan to take control of elastigirl

which by the way why'd she monolgue her plan at hellen ... to show her power? intimidate her? i guess thats fine, its not like she revealed her whole plan. but she didnt need to do that, either way she went on with her plan

hm next uh the fight scenes were super cool! they did a great job

whoever animated hellen either had a lot of fun or they were suffering, i cant tell in 3d animation

i wish that the two strongest side super characters werent a hulking woman with a deep voice and a hulking black man who seems to speak broken english but yknow cant win em all :/

void was cute tho! she is absolutely a trans lesbian and i can see why the movie brought her out as the star of the sideline supers

itd be nice if violet had friends, or dash had friends, buuut maybe that's what a tv show would be for ;)

oh i really loved the scene where hellen tells bob about how she stopped an out of control train and he turns on the tv to see her face on every channel... they dont outright say it, and focus more on bob's jealousy, but i got a gut feeling that bob was mad about hellen's success with this first victory considering him stopping a train (poorly) was one of the catalysts in outlawing supers in the first place. theres a lot of call backs in this movie but that was my favorite

wouldnt it make more sense for villain woman to sabotage hellen in public? i guess thatd stop the whole project prematurely
