people have been complaining about how all the character progression “isnt dark enough” and when they brought new characters to om there was a huge back lash (in part due to fandom misogyny @ 13) to characters being mean again and like. idk I hate how i saw nothing but “ohhh i wish it was back to how it was early game” or “ohhh the japanese version is so much darker” and it KILLS me to see those exact memes and jokes translated over to nightbringer AT THE COST of the main story. 

OM has always been intensely fan desire driven to it’s own detriment via events and a lot of unsavory fanservice, and it frustrates me deeply that when om’s main story got even a little conflict driven, people hated it, often due to how lessons were released.

It’s very much a game thats caught between trying to satisfy as many people as possible and tell a story that doesn’t give itself enough room to breathe - certain beats need multiple lessons to tell, and when people whip themselves into a froth over a dramatic moment that isnt full resolved, it’s rough.

okay let me finally show you my updated f/o list!! I am also planning to add some s/i info but tbh i still havent gotten to it cause im procrastinating it while trying to relax doing other stuff klsdksj here it is!! now if you'd let me, Imma talk a bit about the changes just because

I wanted to get a bit more specific mentioning platonic f/os so even if I like many characters in sources like Obey Me, you can now see which characters I think my s/i would be the closest with :D!! I also played a bit with labels ig but I read this fic where Mammon said there was no need "to be anything" as long as we were in peace with each other and I felt that on a spiritual lvl so instead of overthinking how to label f/os sometimes I just put him as unlabeled lol I just love self inserting in his world being really close to him and he's my fav character of the game and all but ig it becomes hard sometimes to try to fit that into something so I said whatever, it's my little self insert world and they can do whatever they want that brings me comfort XD yknow, sometimes partnering concepts just feel off but at the same time I enjoy saying I am a Mammon simp cause I love the character so it's a bit of a mess in my brain sometimes, trying to make both my experience as a player and my s/i's fit for my best comfort

talking about labels, I've decided to put all the Golden Deer as platonic soulmates :D! I think it suits us all and all the unique bonds they form with each other, and I thought that the whole thing of my s/i probably having this huge feeling of admiration and loyalty towards Claude felt better like this somehow, like it's a part of my s/i lore and not so much about what their relationship can be or not? I dont know if this makes sense worded like this but it seems to work out in my head XD I still plan to someday develop my s/i's story a lot so who knows

anyway, FRIENDS AND FAMILY!! I feel like it's pretty obvious that I've started to play Honkai Star Rail because suddenly I got a friend, a brother and a father from there- listen everytime I see the Astral Express Family written in the groupchat I emotionally cry happy tears (also I wouldnt be surprised if i ended up also f/oing Himeko in the future lmao, I love found families can you tell)

from Genshin Impact I've officially added Thoma as a platonic f/o :D!! (my hearts craves to befriend kind characters, yes) I think my Genshin s/i is probably the one with the most lore right now so I'm excited to write about this in the future! well,,,,, actually my Super Mario Bros s/i also has some info around themselves already,,,,,, like would you believe me if I told you I was already making up s/i lore while still watching the movie,,,,, the self-shipper experience huh.....

1. I've never really thought about Raphael when i'm masterminding this AU, but i suddenly got like a thousand of ideas about how he could play along in this AU.

Oh em gee what if he was the one who was tasked with cutting / tearing Simeons wings off.. What a brilliant plan!!

2. I was thinking the sharp feathers would just return to normal after the child stopped crying, but now that you've put the feather boa idea in my head, im making it canon >:]

And don't worry about oversharing or adding into it, I literally adore tour ideas and would love to hear anything you've got in mind!

3. Luke would probably be somewhere between the two, even though the child will probably outgrow him LMAO

Here's a few extra facts about the AU!

-Satan is like, the child's best friend. Since y'know, similar birth story..

-The child doesn't age like a human nor an angel, seeing how Luke is still a child but is well into the thousands in birthdays.

-10 human years = 1 year for the child. So while a normal human baby would be 10 after 10 years, the child would only be aging up 1 year physically and mentally!

-The child is going to die before everyone else.

That's great. I can imagine how bitter Luke would be about the child being taller than him, and then almost instantly getting over it when the kid offers to get him something off a high shelf with so much joy and excitement about finally being able to help big brother/uncle Luke.

Satan. My heart. I can imagine. He would buy that baby little cat onesies and read to them and do all the things he wished someone had done for him when he was young.

I understand why you would do that with the age, but oof. Very cruel. The idea of a parent having to watch their child die hurts - and poor Simeon doesn't deserve that.

I am glad you don't mind my ideas. I have one more. Okay, so you know how in Nightbringer (the story at the end of lesson 20 - the hard mode so spoilers for that, but) Michael takes on Raphael's form? So what if Raphael was commanded to remove Simeon's wings, but he begs Michael to take his form again to commit this atrocity against their friend? Michael is his superior. A good leader would take on the pain of his subordinate - wouldn't he? Simeon can still blame Raphael; it can look like Raphael did it - he doesn't care about who takes the blame, but he doesn't think he can bring himself to go through with the act. Stripping Simeon of his wings is not the kind of assignment that can afford a trembling hand. It has to be done once with urgency and commitment (especially if there were dire consequences for failure). I don't know, it's just an idea for some extra struggles.

I haven't pre-registered yet cause I have to focus on exams sadly! But I'm really excited too!

My thoughts is that I think it will be a cool experience since the MC will be masquerading as a demon attendant to the brothers! I see a lot of people getting scared with Rhythm Games while I'm here who has played three Rhythm games like piano tiles 2, dancing line and rolling sky in the past xD- the 3D models are actually cool and I love the layout of the house of lamentation! overall I am excited to play and hope to see grand admiral levi! ^^

WOOOOOO i was more or less right with where this season is going. i'm so happy. i feel like they massively improved on the writing for the more recent lessons (wishing i could say the same for the events, but the levi focus was rly good tho)

TO BE FAIR it was fairly obvious where they were headed with how they framed lesson 21, which makes me appreciate it even more as a season intro. i haven't done the new lesson yet (24) but people are saying it's really good so i'm very excited ro see asmo's segment in this ordeal. i wanna save my final thoughts after the season finale though, so that won't be for a while.

sidenote - i mentioned having a completely different theory on who nightbringer might be, but i'm still trying to write it up. i got derailed with my research and ended up in a completely different rabbit hole LMFAOOOO anyways. hopefully i'll be able to finish it before the month ends, as well as another mephisto fic im working on.

nightbringer lesson 21 spoilers (ish) under the cut

new season time woooo 🥳 it's not too heavy just yet but there are some points worth noting that are pretty much setting the scene for what season 2 is gonna revolve around.

so it's basically establishing that s2 is gonna be about forging pacts with the brothers, before solomon and mc's "connection" with their current time cuts off, making them lose their powers

we open with diavolo finalizing preparations for the opening of RAD in two months, and ends with solomon saying we have to reforge our pacts with the brothers by then, as well.

at this point all we're given is that magic/magic power is intrinsically linked with time, so therefore we can hypothesize that severing your ties with your timeline results in the loss of magic, unless we reestablish that connection (in this case, pacts). this is a pretty shallow reading of it, so don't take it to heart too much lol

i think what else is interesting is what happens to mamon in this lesson. although he is greedy and has a penchance for underhanded tactics to get what he wants, in this one he basically lacks empathy for mc's injury and even lashes out at belphie for a simple accident. by this point we're led to think that something is off (lucifer especially notices) before mammom clicks to his senses and runs off back home.

i think that'll be another core point in the season - fully establishing the brothers with their sin. i think it makes sense, since by this point it's only been a year and a few months since the fall, and because they've fully accepted being demons now i think it'd be high time for their sin to kick into full gear before they learn how to control/repress it. i think satan is an outlier here though, as he was born a demon and has already had time to process his wrath, so i'm also thinking he'll be a central character in helping his brothers if the season DOES go that route.

ALSO we got to see mephisto planning out the newspaper club! which will hopefully mean more of him, please. hehe.

anyways i'm pretty hyped for this season! i feel like if it ends with getting pacts with all the brothers we'll eventually have to confess our origin to them and probably another revelation by nightbringer. truthfully i really hope they incorporate the "learning how to live with their sin" thing bc it'll be a nice insight of the brothers and in furthering their characters as we know them in the present.
