My kneejerk reaction was to say Telford, because he's my favourite character, but… I think it's actually my OG boy Young, who was my fave on my first watch through of SGU back when it originally came out. 2009 was so long ago! 🤮

Young's just got so much of that Idealised Masculinity going on in him. To me - a trans man - I can heavily relate, ya know? He has certain standards he's desperate to live up to, but finds himself constantly falling short. He sees it be so easy for the people around him, so surely if he tries just a bit harder, sacrifices a little more, maybe that'll be him one day. But his 'fake it till you make it' mantra never works, and he's stuck feeling useless and unworthy and… yeaaah! 😐

The main storyline for my on-hiatus vampire AU is him realising he's gay. A somewhat overdone trope in fanfiction, yes, but I feel like I've made it interesting by adding my own experiences and thought processes from being a gay trans man to the mix. Young's in a box (put there by both society and himself) and the story is him coming to terms with the fact there's something outside the box, something for him specifically.

Vampires as an allegory for queer people, of course, with the constant suspicion from humans and the requirement of putting your name on a public register in order to use the blood banks to feed. So anyone from potential employers to a neighbour down the street has the ability to type a vampire's name into the register and BOOM. (Unfun fact: I was advised against going for a Gender Recognition Certificate earlier this year because there'd been whispers around the clinic that the government were talking about having a public registry for anyone who had one - i.e. a HITLIST.)

Yeah, I think this is in line with what I've said about the prank before. Sirius definitely was not being bullied. Remus really does seem to treat the whole thing like nbd, so my headcanon is that the prank wasn't anything that the MWPP crew thought much about after it happened. And if you do want to go the angst route and say that the prank almost tore them apart, well, there's no way James would ever stop speaking to Sirius or shun him. So if Remus decided to hold the prank against Sirius, that's fine, but James would never fall in line with that.

Technically, if it's my own writing, the thoughts I have about it are canon-canon (to the work itself).

I can't think of anything off the top of my head, but I do generally have background stuff in mind for some fics, stuff that's never explicitly spelled out but which colours and guides the way the story is written.

I'm assuming we're still talking about things I've written? I'm which case, it would be Bonding Bats, which I wrote as a way to comfort myself when a family pet passed on.

I'm a pretty "safe" and vanilla writer. Maybe one of my fics where I killed off the Joker or something?
