The jl held a meeting about marvel’s conduct with cops bc he got a little too excited and suplexed a cop completely fucking forgetting he’s a 7ft buff ass man (the video goes viral for months) and the press is having a fucking field day with this bc ‘Captain Marvel Hates The Government!’ ‘Justice League Member, Captain Marvel, Shows His True Colors…?’ ‘Fawcett Superhero Attacks Civilian!’ ‘Captain Marvel Sends Police Officer to ICU!’ ‘Philadelphia Hero Puts Public Servant In Coma’ and shit like that is on the front page of every newspaper, magazine, and tabloid for the next eight months at least

so they’re like ‘hey you gotta say something! The people think you hate the us government esp the police!’ and he’s just sitting there confused before he says very slowly and clearly ‘But I do…I fucking despise them’

Barry and Hal are fucking losing it bc this is the guy that says ‘darn!’ in the heat of battle and has said on multiple occasions ‘Well, that’s not very nice, now is it?’ to opponents that destroy worlds for fun

Like I said before I’m on a mission to draw him from more angles so this was practice. Which turned into line art. Which turned into painting, whoops!

Anyway, no wedding ring this time because this piece takes place pre-relationship. Kaiyo becomes touchy feely without thinking too much about it, which he kinda likes because let’s be real he’s probably touch starved. So they have moments where they casually touch the other (Kaiyo brushing him off/polishing, Three.pio wiping strands of hair). But at this point Kaiyo (who fell first) would be like woah. Why am I getting butterflies right now? 😳

Haunted eyes stare into sunlight. They snarl when something warm and kind reaches towards them.

“I’m no one’s Mutt”

Laughter meets that response where it is, not mocking merely acknowledging, “Who ever said you were a dog at all?”

Silence. “Would you like to come with me?”

In an instant, teeth meet flesh. Blood drips down their chin.

“You believe me to be stupid? I know the hefty cost of service” an unlocked chain hangs around their neck.

“Cost? Why would you have to pay for something I give freely?” the universe asks, never clotting its wounds. The beast unclenches their jaw, watching stars be born and die in the other’s eyes.

“And what can you give me that I have not already paid for?”

A rumble starts building. Something old and deep but joyful all the same. The beast stands at the edge of something important, something bigger than them…they can feel it.

“My love!”

The rumble stops as all the noises around them slow til they are nothing more than memories.

Somehow the sun continues to burn loving touches into their bodies. Somehow the winds are still sharp enough to make them wince under its attention. Somehow both beings age through sentences, pauses, and decisions alike. Somehow time doesn’t give under the weight of this conversation. Somehow, the beast thinks, they have the power to change everything.

“I will bite you again” their gaze turns to the wound, still bleeding, painting their side red.

“If flesh is what you need I can provide it!” They tear off a strip of skin that once lay peaceful in the venerable spot between their neck and shoulder. The red section of meat lays between their fingers, oozing onto their palm and down their forearm. Eyes meet and desperation is mutually felt.

“I do not need flesh” the beast eats from the creatures hand, feeling tendons snap while the meat itself remains chewy. When done, they lick the hand that fed them.

“Then what do you need?” That same palm, now stained red and sticky with spit, rests gently under their chin. It’s warmer than sunlight and kinder than memories.

“You. I’ve always needed you. I didn’t know. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. I just-“

“You’re being silly! I love you for that though!”

Time finally starts moving forward, and maybe it’s their chance to finally move with it.
