hrrr. Okay, I know you didn’t ask for a rant, but you’re getting one!

I have a lot of feelings about fanfic writers relentlessly promoting their own fics on TikTok. I used to think it irked me because of the whole potential monetization part of TikTok, which is an potential problem for sure, but recently I’ve come to realize that’s not the biggest issue I have with it. It’s more about what fandom is supposed to be, and the best way I’ve heard this described is that it’s a gift economy (as spoken about by tinawithana, who I really think nails all things re: fandom culture).

Fandom, when we’re talking about fanfiction, should ideally work like this: Writer makes and posts fanfiction. Reader reads and comments on fanfiction (and on ao3, gives a kudos and maybe a bookmark if they so inclined to bookmark). that’s it. That’s the whole exchange. at least, as far as it should be expected to go. Now, if you read a fanfic and you adore it so much that you feel compelled to do something more, such as make fanart, translate it into another language, etc., that’s amazing. It’s also another gift. nowadays, that can also translate into things such as edits, YouTube trailers (so wild to me!!! How cool that people do this), TikTok’s, etc. Gift economy.

so really what I think gets me about writers who make TikTok accounts solely to promote their own work and ‘go viral’ is that it disrupts the way things should (imo) be. Writing long and complicated stories is a fuck ton of work, damn it! Spending hours and hours and HOURS writing this stuff and sharing it IS my contribution. Making fanart or anything else to promote it shouldn’t be on me, too. Besides, someone incessantly and constantly shoving their own fics in people’s faces via funny catchy TikTok’s kind of ruins the legitimacy of it. It’s also not a cute look. That’s why that one writer (and I’m sure many others have done this, too) used a shit ton of alternate accounts and paid for bots to promote their (partially ai generated) bullshit. Hype can be manufactured. And TikTok is all about hype.

all that to say: I love the TikToker’s! The fans out there who share the stories they love are doing the lords work, truly - Styxxa and ohsadderdaze immediately come to mind (you should all check them out; dare you to comment on one of their posts saying I sent you 🙃), but there are a ton of people who make videos promoting other people’s writing. That’s real fandom etiquette right there. Gift economy!

Some counter arguments I can already understand: if you’re a new writer and you’re just trying to get someone to give your fic a chance… I get it. I’m not saying self-reccing your work is bad by any means; I think it’s super valid and maybe even necessary if you’re having a hard time getting people to read initially. No shame in that! If I had started writing in more recent years I might have done this as well (idk probably not though; I would have gotten flogged for posting about harrymort anywhere else back then). But I too once had like maybe five fans lmao. It sucks. I get it.

But it’s iffy once it passes a certain threshold. That’s all I’m really saying here.

Oh, and I do have a TikTok, I just haven’t posted on it! Yet. I might make something stupid someday just for fun, because I do recognize that TikTok IS a fun platform and can be an entertaining way to connect with people. Hello, so first of all, thank you for your services on writing Yandere Sonic the Hedgehog stuff cuz OMG the lack of written content here is criminal. 

Ok, now with that out of the way, I had this idea going on in my head for a very long time, but I was rlly shy about sharing it up until now (BTW this isn’t a request or anything like that). Ok ppl hear me out:

Yandere Shadow with a weak and shy Darling who thinks he hates them.

Maybe they met bc they both worked for G.U.N. or something, but circumstances force them to end up with both seeing each other a lot, and bc of Shadow’s rather aloof and reserved nature, Darling starts thinking that Shadow probably thinks of them as a nuisance that’s getting in the way, when in reality, he probably doesn’t mind them much (Well, at first).

Darling would probably start trying to do their absolute best to be as useful as possible, after all, it’s not like they want Shadow (or anyone rlly) to hate them, and even if they’re not a capable fighter, there’s lots of other stuff they’re very competent at. However, it doesn’t matter how much they try to help him in any way, he still doesn’t seem to bat an eye, which makes Darling think he probably thinks they’re annoying him and that they should better leave him alone so they aren’t a nuisance.

Boy if only they knew how much Shadow truly appreciated all they did for him, the fact that Darling tried to push through their shyness and help him, he began to see it as endearing to the point he couldn’t help but just fall in love with such a pure-hearted, fragile Darling that had to be protected at all cost. He wanted to keep his distance from them since he’s not exactly the safest hedgehog to be around with, yet he just couldn’t help himself but want to be around them to personally make sure they were safe. Alas, now Darling’s avoiding him.

Darling would start “coincidentally” encountering Shadow more frequently, even outside of work. They had to go to a certain shop to buy something? What a coincidence, Rouge had asked him to grab something from there too. They liked to go to a certain place after work? Weird, Shadow also went there regularly, you get the gist. Darling would see this as them having the worst luck, since why are they always ending up meeting with the person that hates their guts?! Darling, a word of caution, you should pay more attention to your surroundings.

As time goes on, Shadow’s feelings grow deeper and more obsessive, to the point they can’t leave them alone without worrying every waking second about their safety. What if G.U.N. sends them to a dangerous mission and they get severely injured? Or what if Eggman attacks somewhere where they just happen to be and they can’t defend themselves against a badnik? Well, Shadow doesn’t need to think about that anymore when it does eventually happen.

Seeing Darling severely injured would make something inside Shadow just snap, and he decides that enough is enough, whoever caused the injury pays dearly for it, and next thing Darling knows, they wake up on a very comfortable bed inside a room they can’t recognize, their wound being  with a person who hates them. Darling would immediately apologize to Shadow for any inconveniences and tries to leave, however, there seems to be something restraining one of their legs, and when they lift up the mattress, there’s a shackle around their ankle.

Darling begins to have a panic attack, but before Shadow can try to comfort them, Darling begins to ask him why he hates them so much, they start going on and on about how they don’t understand what they did wrong, and then Shadow interrupts them with a hug

“I don’t hate you in the slightest, if anything, I love you so much. That’s why, I can’t let you get hurt out there”

Oh I really hate the ‘little shit’ archetype that is pushed. Is he very much a menace at times? Yes. Is he a quirky menace in a bad behaved toddler-like manner… No. People forget that even though he’s the god of mischief and he’s sassy and silly blah blah blah, he’s also very eloquent and is not.. very quirky in ways that they assume he is. He’s a well behaved menace. Yes that is an oxymoron, and so is he. Like if people were just saying that in a joking/lighthearted manner, I wouldn’t gaf that much. But, I can tell they really think it’s accurate to who he is as a person. I do think that he genuinely does have these traits. I mean, to those who know him and have fallen for his tricks, it is believable to them to a certain extent. There has to be some truth to it. There’s a thin line between his deceit, and his true nature. One of my favorite Loki quotes:

Frigga: “Cast enough illusions, and you risk forgetting what is real.”

Loki: “Precisely.”

Oh yeah he’s very sarcastic. Without a doubt. Even when being threatened by the Other, he is sarcastic lol. That is something that will never leave him. During Illusions, or the most vulnerable moments of his life.

I think that once he’s warmed up to someone, he will be a little less aloof and a bit more expressive. Though, not by much. Not series level. I still see him as genuinely being more reserved. I don’t see it as just a part of his facade. Oh he’s pretentious to his core. That doesn’t change.

I do not see him as being very hyper or heavily expressive in the same way it’s been represented in the series when he got “comfortable” around Mobius and Sylvie. I do think he genuinely is a bit cold and reserved, even when he does warm up to someone. But at the same time… he’s very playful it’s just not very loud. Ahhhhh. Loki is very expressive in ways, but it’s just… DIFFERENT!!!

How do I see his chaotic side:

Sort of like how I said above. No, I’m definitely hearing you out. The way you explained it, is how I see it. Though, he may ON OCCASION have outbursts where is more all over the place and.. well, chaotic. Yeah it’s more “controlled” for the most part, but I do think he has moments of louder chaos. It’s sinister, but not loud. I don’t really know how to explain it but he’s not maniacally laughing and jumping around all over the place like a buffoon. There is a middle ground I fear. Even at his most chaotic moments, he’s not.. extremely loud. It’s more toned down. Idk what that says about him. He’s chaotic, but he’s elegant and classy with it.

I kind of wrote an imagine a while back where I sort of implied that I think he has been intimate a lot in his past, but ngl I wrote that when I had brain fog and I was kind of dumb as fuck because I don’t even agree with that. Idk where that came from. I do not think that he is a complete virgin, but I also do not think that he’s hedonistic AT ALL. I think he has definitely had a few lovers/flings in the past, but nothing too serious. Nothing that really made him feel loved. He’s selective with lovers.

Loki, in my eyes, loves very heavily. When he loves someone, he wants to spend the rest of his life with them. He’s very devoted/loyal. He hasn’t found that person yet, though he’s messed around a few times.

Yeah, I honestly agree with what you said about it for the most part. I think Loki views hedonistic behavior as a sign of low intelligence (in his eyes) and likes to deprive himself of such “earthly” pleasures. Because he’s pretentious like that. But also, maybe he feels like he doesn’t deserve to indulge. He’s not good enough, yet. Maybe he’s weird about types of self pleasuring too idk.

Loki definitely was overshadowed by Thor, but he was still of a high status and was also very cunning/charming. Not that I think he was tricking people into sleeping with him, but I think that people were drawn to his high status of course, but also his mysterious nature. People always want to figure out those who are mysterious, and reserved. Most people probably thought that Loki was emo and weird af, but then you had people who were intrigued by it, and intrigued by his intelligence.

When people say that Loki is highly experienced, I don’t see that as meaning he slept around a whole ton and was fucking 30 people a day. I see that as he slept around a few times, not many, but is a very quick learner. He got the hang of it quickly, and is also quite in touch with what makes himself feel good. He can read people very, very well. So I think he takes advantage of his intelligence, and uses that in bed in ways. He’s alluring in that manner. He reads people, and understands what they desire from him. Loki understands body language. He knows how to disguise his own, and he knows how to read other’s.

Not that you said anything about this but i now have a chance to talk about it hehe. I think he likes pleasuring other people. It’s a bit of an ego boost for him. He has that authority over them, and he could easily take it away. He likes having control. Maybe sex is an outlet for him in ways. It makes him feel useful. He may restrain from allowing himself to be pleasured, because that’s him giving in. That’s him giving up that control to someone else. When I have friends, I steal their interests and copy their mannerisms and expressions and ways of looking at life. And I’m realizing all the things I took as constants about myself (hardworking, intelligent, sociable to a degree) were just products of my environment. Even down to the fact that I can’t listen to music anymore bc there’s nobody to discuss it with so it feels pointless.

It’s probably worth mentioning that I used to define myself as capable, but I’ve been having bad brain fog (a dietician’s helping me solve it) so I can’t really read or learn things which I used to enjoy a lot, and my memory is absolutely terrible. I feel super spaced out and derealised most of the time.

And on top of this, I went to a school where the lesson quality was very high and I was with ppl who were bright if a bit apathetic. Now I’m with people who haven’t had the same upbringing I’ve had or the same educational quality. The lessons in this school are also more of a lecture type, teach yourself the material, and I’m not as sharp as I used to be so it’s difficult. I wanted to leave my school to meet new people from different backgrounds but I can’t relate to any of them, and I would be able to if I stopped resisting but I’m scared I’m going to lose myself in the process. I think my academic standards might subtly be slipping (even in a less conscious way) and I don’t know what to do.

If I had my wits about me I’d be working harder to keep my grades up, but I’m so tired and demoralized because when I go into school I feel so out of place and like I’ve made a mistake. I can’t stop comparing it to the way things were at my old school, or at my twin sister’s private school (she made the right choice and I didn’t). I’m aware this is partly a sign of Si loop and I should stop indulging it, but my memory is terrible and if I don’t remember and keep thinking about the past, how can I define myself clearly? I don’t know myself at all, and I’ve only ever defined myself by my past actions but other than that I feel so hollow inside.

(1) Function Problems: Many people make the mistake of choosing only one of the past, present, or future to use for defining their "identity". However, the three are equally important since they are inextricably intertwined.

The past contains all of the significant life experiences that have made you the unique person you are at present. The present is where you make the vital decisions about who you will become in the future. And the future gives you the direction needed to make decisions right now that best build upon all you've achieved in the past.

Unhealthy Si means misinterpreting the importance of the past. Type development requires you to learn how to use functions optimally and appropriately. There are times when it's appropriate to draw upon past experience and there are times when it's inappropriate. There are times when leaning too heavily on the past becomes an impediment to your daily functioning and future growth.

The past only influences the present when you allow it to. Right now, you are unhappy because you are having difficulty adjusting to a new environment. When people are unhappy, they are prone to emotional reasoning, which means selectively gathering "evidence" that only serves to confirm and escalate negative emotions.

Some of that "evidence" can come from the past, in terms of using a mythologized past to make unfavorable comparisons of the present. What this means is that your perception of the present is biased and flawed. You are not giving objective and fair consideration to the new environment on its own merits but denigrating it merely because it doesn't meet your subjective expectations.

This logical fallacy can seep into many situations. For example, if you meet a new person who physically resembles a person you once knew, you can't help expecting their personality to be the same too. Or, if you've eaten at many restaurants of a particular cuisine, you'll expect a new restaurant to live up to the previous ones you've enjoyed. A personal example: I once watched a beautiful fireworks display with a friend, but the only comment they could make was that it wasn't as nice as a previous display they'd seen in another city.

What do these examples teach you? Emphasizing the past to an unhealthy degree can lead to problems such as: detachment from reality; inability to live in and appreciate the present as is; a jaded attitude that compulsively recasts everything sublime as mundane.

You say you want "perspective" but unhealthy Si really does NOT want perspective because it is heavily invested in sameness. Unhealthy Si is looking for any excuse to justify giving up and resigning oneself to the predictability of the status quo. Predictability is where Si shines, so why give up that glory by changing oneself and inviting unpredictability?

However, when you go around expecting the world to always conform with what you already know, what you're really doing is condemning yourself to living a life of boring monotony. Is that really what you want? If it is, that's your choice and it should be respected, though you should ask yourself whether you are truly NP.

If monotony doesn't appeal to you, then you have to readjust your vision. You have to appreciate that change is a necessity to be welcomed and embraced because, without it, there is no longer any possibility for betterment. This is why healthy Ne is the salve to dysfunctional Si.

NPs are often admired for their ability to look for silver linings and capitalize on them. Would you believe that many NPs have basically said to me that there's no such thing as "a bad decision", that life is what you make of it? A few have even said that they like to immerse themselves in a "bad" environment because it gives them a chance to exercise ingenuity to thrive in it? Where is this Ne spirit in you? I can't answer that for you. You have to look within and bring it out.

(2) Motivation Problems: You lack intrinsic motivation. I have explained this topic many times, so browse previous posts. You keep waiting around for someone/something to compel you into action, which means you are mainly extrinsically motivated. This is similar to the mentality of a spoiled child who expects the world to cater to their every need.

People who are only extrinsically motivated often miss out on opportunities to develop inner strength of character. Unfortunately, having nothing of substance within, they are ultimately shallow people. And living a shallow life amounts to living a meaningless life.

Oftentimes, when people claim to be "empty" or that life seems "meaningless", what they're really saying is that they have no values to rely upon. What is a human being without values? It basically means nothing is important. When nothing is important, then nothing is worth doing. When nothing is worth doing, then life isn't worth living, is it?

The essence of humanity is found in human values. What does it mean to "value" something? For example:

To value is to appreciate something for its inherent worth. Do you see the worth in anything, or do you only see how everything is worthless to you?

To value is to cherish something for all its positive aspects. Do you look for the positive, or do you seek out the negative because it feels good to confirm your negative feelings and beliefs?

To value is to care about something enough that you want to nurture its continued existence. Do you even care enough about yourself to work hard for a better quality of life?

To value is to love something so deeply that you'd make a personal sacrifice to save it. Do you love anything? If not, how can you act in the best interests of anything, including your future self?

To value is to have a heart and use it as a guide when interacting with the world. Living without a heart, can one call oneself human? If you want to feel like a whole and well-rounded human being, then you have to stop being unduly critical (unhealthy Ti) and actively learn to look for things to love in life (healthy Fe). The possibility of finding beauty exists in every time and place. The question is whether you can open your eyes to see it and open your heart to feel it.

It's easy to sit back and complain about what's "wrong", in fact, it's a comfortable place to be because you can believe in the lie of your own superiority. If you're happy in that bubble, then stay there. If you're not happy there, then get up and seek out positive things and build upon them, and live a life that makes the world brighter. It's a much more difficult but also a much more meaningful way to live.

Hi it’s the SU anon here I’m very sorry for how much I upset you, and I seriously wanted to piece tgt what I’m missing from the Jewish viewpoint so I appreciate u still being open to talking to me despite the ignorance. From what I see on ur blog u do show quite a lot of sympathy to the all the cruelty happening in Gaza, but don’t tolerate this being used as an excuse to target Israel/Jewish ppl. I do understand that the whole concept of pushing for an Israel/jewish ethnostate is very much entwined with the history of Jewish culture and the antisemitism endured through different times, so I think this is the part where I made the most ignorant statement on? After rereading what I wrote it might also have sounded like all Jews hold extremely reactionary views towards the word “ceasefire”? Pls do point out more of what upset u, I take full responsibility for what I said and pls stop this convo at any point if I end up offending u more.

Recognizing that you don't know something is the first step towards fixing it. It's good that you thought on your previous ask and tried to research it! But you're missing an awful lot so let's start from the top.

First problem comes right with the opening sentence; "Hi, this a question abt ur opinion on what’s happening in Gaza just bc you’re one of my favourite blogs that goes deep into Jewish culture/issues."

Going to random Jews who do not post about the conflict and asking for their "stance" on it is part of a series of antisemitic loyalty tests and is extremely rude on top of it. Furthermore, speaking on Jewish cultures and issues and antisemitism is not the same as being experienced or knowledgeable on international conflicts.

And then your next paragraphs are of course riddled with anti-Israeli biases and examples that you've been listening to/reading propaganda uncritically, such as "wanting a more inclusive Israel" and in your more recent ask saying things like "I do understand that the whole concept of pushing for an Israel/jewish ethnostate is very much entwined with the history of Jewish culture and the antisemitism endured through different times". So you clearly have a basic lack of knowledge about both Israel and the conflict in general along with Zionism itself.

But, again, that's not an area I talk about much. If any of the folks who do talk about it, see this and want to go into it, please do! Just to repeat here, you shouldn't have been asking me in the first place.

Then, this part here, showed me that you have a history of dismissing antisemitism as Jews being overly sensitive "I always just accepted it as it’s probably got a lot more antisemitic undertone when it’s a Jew that hears it." And then that was compounded by your closing insult, "thanks for always sharing important Jewish viewpoints without undermining other social issues!"

And that closing insult told me that I had woefully failed in sharing any information about antisemitism at all. "Sharing important Jewish viewpoints without undermining other social issues". Jewish "viewpoints" and antisemitism are just as important as any other sort of bias. Pointing out antisemitism and sharing stories about antisemitism does not, and can not, undermine other social issues. It is not lesser. Honestly, I'm still kind of livid over that shot.

like I love requests so much I love sharing brainrot and being able to write a fic for someone and making them happy w my writing it’s the whole reason I started writing in the first place. but I just love my own brain and the fics that I come up with on my own as well and I think it’s rly important for writers to consistently write things that their own brain thought of and write them just because they want to. I’ve seen writers put sm pressure on themselves to complete requests and I totally understand that but I kinda hate how they even feel that pressure in the first place bcuz it takes away the joy of writing and you find yourself unable to even think of what to write anymore cause it’s become associated with the stress of “getting it done” like some sort of school assignment. requests can be such a blessing and a way to connect a fandom more and build a community and even a little family within a blog but it can also be so stressful. feeling bad that you’ve taken too long to finish a request, having anons harass you in your inbox for not writing their request “quickly enough”, and the general entitlement ppl have adopted when they’re literally asking— ASKING someone else to do something FOR THEM. I don’t experience this too often and I don’t want any of the people who have sent me requests to feel bad for sending them in, trust me I LOVE the requests. but I do wonder sometimes if ppl on my blog wonder why I take so long to finish requests and why I never close them either lmao. cause it is quite different from all my moots’ blogs and majority of blogs on tumblr that I’ve seen… and I just think I always want to have that option for readers to spill their thoughts into a request without the pressure or expectation that it’s going to be answered quickly. closing and opening inboxes is an amazing way to work through requests systematically and consistently while also not getting bogged down by too many. and I think readers probably like that system(?) cause it’s a higher chance of their request getting done quickly! (and to those readers who send out the same request to a bunch of different authors idk WHY you do this idc if it’s just bcuz you wanted to see how we would all interpret it differently, honestly fuck you. bcuz it just feels so empty and pointless like you don’t actually care abt us as authors and our writing but just want to see how fast an author can get your idea written and posted. it’s like you’re using us as machines and testing who will be the fastest and who will stay on the loading screen the longest. it’s so disappointing tbh. and maybe this is also why i enjoy writing for lesser known groups bcuz when I get a request it’s so precious to me i know that the reader sent it in bcuz they actually like my writing and know I’ll be able to write for a group that they love that not many other ppl write for. despite the fact that I won’t get more than 10-30 notes for a fic from a nugu group doesn’t mean that it is less rewarding.)

but then again I’ve also seen readers ignore the authors rules stating that requests are closed or get mad that they are and it’s just… sigh… we are literally writing for free for your enjoyment, we spend hundreds of hours writing these fics whether they are “good” or “bad” they still take time and effort and love and a whole lot of brainpower and googling of synonyms and staring blankly at the two sentences you’ve written before switching tabs and procrastinating for 2 hours only to come back and finish in one flurry of motivation lmao. but for me having my inbox always open and welcome for requests feels like it’s actively counteracting the expectations for writers to pump out fics like some sort of machine to feed their audience while only getting blank likes as a return (this is truly JUST my thoughts and how I view it I’m not trying to say how I do things is better or how others work their blog is wrong or anything like that. if ur a writer and u rly focus on getting ur requests done lowkey I admire u cause I do still feel some guilt looking at requests I have sitting in my inbox from like last year although I am happy and content w my system and feel that it does put the focus on me and my creativity and less on the pressure to take others ideas and make a fic for them with the side effects of time pressure and guilt for not following through if that makes sense.) all that rambling is to say that now that brain is so focused on tasks that are much more important and I have less time to think of silly little delusions, having these requests sitting in my inbox waiting for me is rly nice :) and I’m rly excited to complete more of them cause most of you have given me rly rly amazing fic ideas <3

Hey! The response to this ask is legit over a year late but better late than never and I have been excited to reply to this one for awhile.

For context, this was sent after I was sent a hate anon ask in my inbox stating that I was gross for calling Seonghwa 'Mommy' and analysing his kinks in my natal chart reading.

I just don't understand why ppl won't take the easier route and just scroll, like you're expelling unnecessary energy writing and I'm expelling unnecessary cognitive energy by reading it.

The 'should ppl write smut about real life celebrities' has been a question asked for literal DECADES now and i'm always on the belief that if you don't take it srsly- it's all good.

I just watched an interview with Ryan Reynolds who admitted to reading the smut ppl have written about him and loving every second of it-

If the celebrity I wrote fanfics for actively said 'I'm uncomfortable with ppl writing smut about me' then I would respect their wishes and not do it but until then, I'm going to keep doing it.

Besides, the members of Ateez know about the fanfics written about them from that time San googled actual fanfiction on Naver in one of his lives.

And so I think they're all probably okay with it and too worried about being an idol to care about atiny's writing smut about them

I personally think my smut fics and readings are on the same level of invasiveness as 'the way I would let this man *redacted* *redacted* me'- like it's okay to say to Atiny's but maybe not so much to the members.

(although if the members read my natal chart readings I would love to get their opinion).

'Mommy' is just another authority title you would use in the same way as you would call someone 'Daddy', 'Sir', 'Master' etc.

It's not an age-play/age-regression thing at all and ppl confuse the two, I'm personally not into age-play/regression- it's not my thing.

For etc, my fics all use the term w/o de-aging the reader in anyway.

I wAsn't the first person who has affiliated 'mommy kink' with Seonghwa, that title goes to @hongism when I read her fic many moons ago and was in love with the concept.

I just found that the title fit with Seonghwa in such a beautiful way with his caring but dominant persona and I found it's a great way of dismantling gender norms and expectations surrounding masculinity.

In terms of not finding other male idols who have been called 'Mommy', there are a few Mommy!Hyunjin ones (I've written some too) and he's a popular idol for the concept too but there are other idols I've seen such as Lee Know and Mingi.

That's so cool you're born in 98 as well! I was born in April too so I completely resonate with parts of Seonghwa's natal chart as well.

It feels so gratifying as someone who puts a lot of thought into my mc to have an amazingly thought out world to put them in. To constantly be like "oh as a member of this world, this is what they would know/have opinions on"!

In that vein, are pets a common thing for various ppl to own in Arsur? I assume that farmers and such probably have working animals, but is a casual pet a common occurrence? If so, what kinds are common? Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful story with us. :)

I imagine there's a fair amount of strays in cities, mostly dogs and cats. In rural areas, they probably live on farms for pest control or are used for herding, etc, but otherwise people also definitely own pets as well!!

Cats and dogs are the most popular pets across Arsur, but snakes are also highly prized, especially in Rojan due to their connection to Şahmaran. Other pets include but are not limited to: birds (large birds like peacocks and herons as well as ducks, quails, and smaller songbirds), ferrets, weasels, rabbits, and mice.

Wealthier people likely keep their pets inside and consider themselves their owners, but most average people have a more communal relationship with their pets.

In villages and towns, pets are considered part of the community, so everyone in the village looks after them. There's no such thing as "ownership" of a pet. It's the same in most big-city neighborhoods, where everyone looks after the animals that roam there, whether it be stray cats and dogs or the local birds in the area.

Also, when I say that snakes are highly prized as a pet, I mean that nobles would likely own them and keep them in their house, but in your average village the people that live there would more so look out for the snakes in their area/consider them part of their community, but otherwise leave them be.

It's understood that they're wild animals, and unlike cats and dogs that are already domesticated, most people in Arsur are content to coexist with them. In Rojan they're especially respected, and there are laws to punish whoever is caught injuring or killing a snake for no justifiable reason, such as to protect their livestock or self-defense.

I'll say for the Crown in particular, there have been many Crowns who have kept all sorts of pets at their palace. Crown Keybanû in particular had over a dozen cats that were taken care of lavishly at the palace. She was so attached to them that one time, one of her court officials tied a message around the neck of her favorite cat to ensure she would read it.

I've thought about giving the player a choice on adopting a pet at some point, but it probably won't make it into the story. The Crown is so busy at the moment, they really don't have any space to take care of a pet during the first year of their reign.

Post-game, though, they'd definitely adopt a pet or multiple pets (of your headcanon's choice)!!

Warner Bros Discovery currently has an over 60% Probability of Bankruptcy.

I honestly am not sure if this is good or bad for the SPN revival. On the one hand, WB is NOT going to want to spend money on such a niche IP (that will really mostly only draw ppl who were already fans) if they are in such dire straits financially. On the other hand, they could bring in money by selling the IP to another studio who would obviously then want to actually do something with it since they spent money on it. But that also depends on another studio or streaming service wanting to do something with it which will be tougher. Netflix would make sense since they currently have SPN for streaming, except they will be losing their streaming rights at the end of 2025. A revival wouldn't even be released until then so why would Netflix want to put money into a revival of show that will, at that time, be streaming on a competitor (most likely Max since it will revert back to WB). Amazon is a possibility since both Jensen and Kripke are there (especially if they want to bring Kripke on for it) and Kripke seems to have some sway over there. But again, unless they buy the rights to SPN to stream on their platform, why would they want to make a show that will inadvertently benefit their competitor?

I went cross eyed reading the article, it looks like it was written by an A.I, which is not out of the realm of possibility given how many "journalists" are fired and Sports Illustrated was busted for using AI to write articles.

It really does not take much to avoid bankruptcy. Usually when a company is going to go under, the signs of it are obvious inaction for a long time and it inevitably dooms the business.   The prime reason why WBD is not going broke is because they took immediate actions after the merger. What happens is the profitable parts of the business stays, while losses are either "turned around" or the business gets eliminated. Sometimes things like streaming subscribers will drop a quarter or two. Maybe a movie or two never gets released. But housecleaning is far more important than anything right now so that money is not wasted. The result is growing cash flow without losing much of the business.

Remember what I've said that cash flow is king? You can run a non-profitable company indefinitely with positive cash flow, but run a profitable company into the ground without cash flow. AT&T generated next to no cash flow. WBD exists for the very purpose of dismantling the legacy Time Warner conglomerate, that was the intention when AT&T sold it to Zaslav. It’s why they removed HBO from the name of Max. His job is to clean up its balance sheets, prepare its parts for sale, and pay himself handsomely in tune of $200 million last year. I begrudgingly admire Zaslav’s sticking with his controversial strategy, which saw other studios eventually following that same strategy.

By 2023, WBD paid off $12 billion in debt.  That was a demonstration of faith by management in the turnaround efforts or else they would have kept the cash "just in case."  The interest on the debt alone is eating $2 to $3 billion in free cash flow. Thats a lot of free growth in their bottom line when debt is paid down. Against all odds, WBD's streaming service HBO Max (and then just Max) is creating most of the cash flow improvement with $5 billion in cash flow. Advertising is growing in this segment at a robust pace. That said, the content decline for third-party licensing will have implications now that the strike is over and WBD has to start spending money on new contents on their prized IPs i.e. Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, DC, etc.

For niche IPs like Supernatural, I see 50% chance of WBD still licensing it to Netflix because third-party licensing is the new king. WBD will also offload low-performing shows in the same bundle with higher-performing Supernatural because it will allow WBD to continue their 'creative accounting' to avoid paying residuals to low-tier actors. Then I can see Netflix doing what they did with Gilmore Girls and produce a revival limited series for Supernatural, which will increase viewership for the OG SPN and continue to help retain subscribers.

On the other hand, WBD is rebooting every niche IP under the sun and I'm pretty certain they will make the same attempt with Supernatural. The strike is over and WBD need to make new contents to attract back subscribers they lost over two quarters during the strike. When SPN goes back to Max in 2025, an announcement of a reboot/revival will mean free marketing from devoted fans and ensure continual interest and viewership of the OG SPN.

Hello, I am very inspired by your methods. Unfortunately, I am not as smart as you and can deduce without any practice. But you must have developed your ‘deduction skills’ over the years too… it requires a lot of knowledge, does it not? Anyway, getting to the point. To get better at something, not only practice but also feedback ist required. Do you know any sort of ‘game’ or anything to practice deduction? (You know what I mean!) I know the subreddit r/scienceofdeduction which can be helpful sometimes but that depends on the people who upload there. I thought of a game in which you get an item from anyone you’re playing with (you don’t know from whom) and you have to deduce whose it is. Problem is that I don’t have friends/ know ppl who’d do this with me. So any suggestions?

Of course I had to develop and hone my deduction skills over the years. Even as a child, I already had a certain tendency to know things that other people didn't, but that is probably a family thing, as my siblings were even better at it. To improve my skills I did have to practice, and I learned much from my older brother with deduction games. Everyone has to start at some point and practice to improve. Of course some people are naturally gifted, but even they have to put work into their skills to further improve. Deducing people based on objects is a good exercise, but maybe you could modify your game idea. Change the game so you do not find the person who it belongs to, but just receive the object itself or a picture of the object and then you have to make deductions about the person based on the object, but not knowing who they are. A deduction game I could suggest is to deduce someone based on a picture they sent you. Like of their desk, of their room, or a screenshot of their phone screen. I think there are some online groups like you mentioned where people provide such pictures, but be careful to not reveal too much about yourself. Another possible training ground could be Tumblr, going through people's blogs and deducing them based on what they post. Going outside and watching people pass by on the street or public transport, deducing them based on what you see, their clothes, their behaviour, et cetera. But sadly you will not be able to find out whether your deductions are correct, except if you walk up to people and ask them. But that does not turn out good in most of the cases, trust me. Maybe Youtube has some useful deduction games and exercises as well.

It is not only important to train your deductions, but also to train your observation and memory. Practice to think fast, make quick observations. Look at a picture for 20 seconds, memorise it, and then try to recount everything you saw. Build yourself a mind palace to be able to store information better, visualise things.

There are endless possibilities of practice, and you can create your own games as well. Me and some followers played some deduction games about a fictional crime case, by asking 20 questions and trying to solve the case just based on that. Maybe you could also participate the next time. Good luck with your deduction journey then.

And for the first question I'll take this ask as an opportunity to sum up some hcs I have for this AU 👍 but some important notes first:

I personally rather imagine this AU as a magicless/not-so-magic-central kinda world just for simplicity sake, but the rest of twst og lore pretty much remains the same.

Earth 2506 - Kalim as the spider-man of his dimension. Can also be referred to as the desert-spider!

uhh (making up an origin story on the spot right now) considering he comes from a family of influential merchants, maybe they got a great deal to partner up with some sort of scientific corporation, to deal with the business side of their new technologies. Kalim was for the first time invited to one of the meetings, as the heir to the family business, it was about time for him to check in person how things worked on this field. In short, it did not end well. As they walked around the corporation's main labs, one spider subject went loose, and Kalim stood right under its web.

he's very fitting to be a spidey, considering his happy-go-lucky personality, he'd be the type of spider-man to mess around and have a lot of fun playing the role of a hero

Kalim: well! that was another easy adventure for spider ma-

Jamil is the first one to know about this secret identity of course. He covers up any potential slips, as to not reveal this secret to anyone else

One notable thing about spider-man!Kalim is that he can afford whatever hero gadgets he needs. Gotta fix his web shooters? Want a nice improvement on his hero constume? No problem. He got a fair share of contacts from people who'd easily do all of these for him. Even though it is Jamil the one who usually runs after this stuff in his place...

Canon event stuff being losing a best friend? Jamil in this universe actually becomes Venom (maybe he found a symbiote from the same lab the spider came from) and yeah they had to fight. Jamil probably snapped for the same reasons he got his overblot. And this is the part where Kalim learns that with great powers comes great responsibility...

What would happen next? Does he move on eventually after the fight? Will there be other villains for spider-man to stop? How will he keep the secret identity now that Jamil's gone? Well, these are great questions, because- (runs away)

Now that I think about it, his own universe is probably an accidental breach from Kalim's. As in "what if Kalim didn't get bitten at the lab, and instead brought the radioactive spider back home by accident?" then when Jamil took Kalim's backpack he was the one to get bitten instead

Ace happened to be the first one to find out about Jamil's powers after an incident on a basketball game. Their dynamic is funny. It's not like Ace wants to be the "guy in the chair" but if Jamil's secret identity is ever at risk, he'd volunteer to help, no questions asked. And aside from him, Najma is the only other person who knows about this as well. The very moment spider-man made his first appearance in public she knew! She says it's a "sister instinct", or something like that. She'd even offer to help him and make him a proper hero uniform... but ONLY if he agrees to do all the house chores for her for a month.

Perhaps spider-man!Jamil has a puppeteer-like skill that he can use to control a small number of people with his webs!

Leona could be a mentor type of character in this universe. Like Jamil already kinda looks up to him in canon, but this time they are a little nicer to each other loll and I only bring this up because there is no "uncle Ben" for Jamil to lose, but Leona is the closest thing he could have to one, so...... canon event. That also ties up to that spider-man story trope of the hero finding himself in the wrong place wrong time, by the side of the person they just lost, only for a third party to walk in and assume it was spider-man the one who killed them. Having people assume this masked man to have killed a person as prestigious as Leona immediately makes spider-man public enemy #1

And edit: just remembered the point abouve could be Kalim alternatively. Which would be even more tragic to think both Jamil and Kalim lose each other in their respective universes

But what do we do after that? How does Jamil redeem himself after this misunderstanding? What if he just gives up being spider-man? Well, uhhh these are also good questions.... look over there! (runs away again)
