Yandere Bestfriend Baji HCs
sdkfjnslknfskjnfdlsknsdljfkn i can’t get Baji out of my head blessed 🙏🙏 so enjoy this absolute word vomit brought to you direct from my brainrot oh god i love Baji so much
tw: yandere , mentions of violence
Masterlist
Most likely have been friends for years and attend the same school before you two upgraded your friendship to best friend status
You are someone that is perfectly fine with his toothy grin and his impulsiveness and his constant fighting, accepting him for who he is, and in turn he accepts you for who you are
Face turns beet red when you grab his hand to walk home from school together, but won't pull away
Secretly happy inside even if he tells you this is stupid, and you know that
Bestfriend bands 💯
Those that can click together to make a full image - yours has his name and his has yours
He wears it all the time and expects you to do the same - will absolutely pout and whine if he finds you not wearing it
No issues with bullies at school or outside - anyone that makes you feel even the slightest bit unhappy is getting beaten up
After that he treats you to your favourite dessert
Bestfriend dates and sleepovers all the time
Baji will always take you to go play with the colony of neighbourhood cats that he looks after
Cats can't seem to get enough of you and Baji - you two seemingly perpetually surrounded whenever yall are walking outside
Takes turn to treat each other to food and to bring lunch bentos
He knows all your favourites and dislikes, and you know his too
Your families probs know the other as well as you at this point
Study together all the time - when its near important tests and examinations, the two of you will definitely skip class to study by yourself, because its not like anything the teachers say gets into Baji’s head
Each other’s number 1 fan - you two always encourage and cheer for each other no matter what you are cheering for
You cheer for Baji when he fights, and Baji cheers for you when you study
Still has that hairband you gave him as a birthday present a few years back - always keeps it on his wrist but too chicken to actually use it in case it breaks
When he gets his bike, he takes you out for night rides in the city. Keeps a helmet and a jacket for you and makes you wear it even if he doesn't.
Makes sure you hold tightly onto him and worries that you might fall off - doesn’t actually ride as fast as he usually does
When he starts Toman with the rest, he lets you try out his jacket
Never invites you to any of the meetings or let you get to know the others - even though you are cool with him fighting, he doesn’t want to drag you in
Also doesn’t want you to accidentally fall for any of them
Still expects you to be loyal to Toman like him, so don’t go supporting any of the other gangs and saying they’re cool
You can tell him absolutely anything - he will sit and listen to you gush or rant about whatever you want at any time of the day
Unless that something is that you got a crush or a boyfriend
If you actually go for a date, or god forbid, try to see someone seriously, don’t let Baji know or give him a chance to find out. Because that dude is going to land in hospital faster than you can blink with a ton of broken bones and a disfigured face from an “accident on a bike”
You will never guess that its Baji when he actually tries, but Baji is a sweet kid at heart - will let you cry as much as you want on his shoulder, patting your back and trying to distract you as much as he can
Brings you to all your favourite hangouts and you two are going to eat so much that yall feel full for a week
But if you ever make Baji feel threatened and refuse to apologise for it or let him make it right, you will see a side of Baji that he has tried to hide from you
No one else is allowed to be your bestie except him - anyone else that even tries to break into the exclusive group of 1 will be beaten up, mutual friends included, no matter if you cry and plead
No one else is allowed to take the status of boyfriend either - Baji sees that as a level above bestfriend and absolutely refuses to allow you to place anyone above him
Any friend that tries to ascend is no longer welcomed to be friends with you, and Baji makes sure that they don’t come back
You don't get to break your friendship with him - never in a million years
He will outright lie to your parents about you to get them to force you to make up with him, and after that
He will never lay hands on you, but if you refuse to be bestfriends with him, the rest of your friends and mutuals are fair game
Will absolutely make you watch him beat them into a pulp until you beg for him to stop and agree to come back and be friends again
Definitely hopes that the friendship between the two of you can be repaired and yall can go back to acting stupid and doing stupid shit together like before
But at least you’re by his side again, and no matter how reluctant and strained it is at the moment, Baji can take the time to slowly repair your friendship. He is sure he can make it work again.

Yandere scp? With Kain, The plage doctor, hard to destroy reptile, and Dr.Gears w/ guard obsession of theirs
You know. It'll be interesting if you have a total of 4 Yandere going after you. One a kuudere yandere one, one believes that you're highly pure, one angy Yandere, and the other a caring Yandere :)
I'm really sorry if this seem to be really rushed, or that any of the characters you requested doesn't have any more dialogue in this story, or that this seemed to be more sided with Dr. Gears. ;-;
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Name: ◼️◼️◼️
Age: 27
Sex: Female
Notes: A women who have been taking training early at age 22 after being chosen from the ◼️◼️◼️. Held no hesitation on agreeing to be apart of the MTF forces. Willing to be instead be chipped with a drug that give her cardiac arrest when activated then amnesticized.
(7/15) After 2 year being part of the forces, scientists noticed that SCP-049 and SCP-632 had reacted positively than per usual when ◼️◼️◼️ is in the room. Furthermore, now ◼️◼️◼️ is required to be in the room whenever further testing and integration is required while doing her duties. ◼️◼️◼️ is allowed to shoot if needed when inside the room.
(8/17) Strangely enough, SCP-073 also reacts much more positively than usual. We are keeping a close eye on ◼️◼️◼️ and her interactions with other SCPS for a reason why.
(◼️◼️◼️) After the incident at site ◼️◼️◼️ in ◼️◼️◼️, her last known whereabouts with scientist Dr. Gears is unknown. As well the disappearance of SCP-049, 682, and 073. We are still throughly searching through the world to find the SCPS as well, possibly, an alive ◼️◼️◼️ and Dr. Gears. When looking through the database, it was seen that ◼️◼️◼️ had her chip off. Any indications where Dr. Gears and ◼️◼️◼️ could be was her body camera. This is the footage where ◼️◼️◼️ and Dr. Gears were last seen.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You held your firearm tightly, peaking over a corner preparing to shoot on sight if a Chaos Insurgencies, D-Classes, or any SCPs appeared. The alarms blared, flashing red. A breach has occurred.
It felt sudden, out of the blue. Rarely a containment breach would appear as the site is unknown and the fact it was kept under watch 24/7. It's damn near impossible to get a breach happening. You were split apart from your squad, aside a professor, Dr. Gears. He suck beside you when the two of you were split apart from the squad from a rouge SCP. Blood were smeared, and many dead bodies from scientists, guards, all alike littered the floor. Some where even filled with lead, while some were missing half of their bodies.
Dr. Gears still behind you, following closely behind. Too close for your liking, but you don't want to peep a word. The last thing you want is to have some chaos, D-class, or even worse, and SCP to hear you. Especially SCP-682, 049, and hesitantly, SCP-073. All three of them gives you extremely bad aura. Despite SCP-073 being a class Euclid, you can't shake off the feeling that he has a much more darker turn for you.
"Do you know the way out, doctor?" You whispered quietly. The alarms still blared in a rhythmic way, flashing red. But before he could say a word, you heard a roar and blood being ripped out. Gun fire could be heard in the distance. The doctor doesn't seem to have any response to the terror, only coldly stare at the corridor in a blank response.
"There should be an elevator that'll take both of us-"
"W̷h̶e̴r̵e̵ ̸i̶s̷ ̷s̶h̶e̸?̸!̴" The voice roared off into the distance. Though it sound rasp and barely auditable, both of you two know that there will be no survival when facing that creature. That is, you don't get killed by the other SCPs that escaped. Swiping you card to a reader, you urged the doctor to go in first before entering after. You could hear the reptile bulking angrily forward to where you two are at. You ushered the doctor more, getting increasingly worried with each more step you could hear thumping over. "S̷h̷e̵'̶s̶ ̶h̵e̸r̸e̶!̷ ̴W̴h̴e̴r̸e̷?̷!̶"
The doctor seem to held no fear or suprise in this, and continued on with his sentence, "-up to the first floor. Gate A." You nodded as you quickly ushered him to the elevator. You rather not meet that lizard ever again. You already keep getting bad vibes from him whenever you come near. Though, that short peace soon come forth to end as you heard zombies groaning and the grinding of a small knife.
"You'll be cured soon enough..." murmured a voice. You froze again as you remembered who that voice belongs. Slowly easing by the distracted plague doctor with the corpse, you still held the doctor behind you - but seems like SCP-343 wants to edge you along. The plague doctor lifted up his head, seeming to sense that there were people behind him. Though... what he recognized is you... You are pure from the pestilence. He needs to take you away from the horrors of the pestilence before you too get infected too. You're still the only one pure from the pestilence. He needs to protect you from the pestilence. Though you weren't taking any of this. You just want to go get the hell out of here right now.
Immediately pulling the trigger on your firearm, allowing yourself to go nuts on the zombie horde and possibly hurting SCP-049 in the process. You roughly shoved Dr. Gears behind you, "Go, Gears! Get the hell out of here!" Though usually you would have to burn SCP-049-2 to get rid of them, but this isn't the time now. If you're going to die, at least you're going to die with a fight. Dr. Gears grunted a little, but he stood there watching you go Rambo on the SCP in admiration. He sees you a woman to be admired and praised, as well... Well, that's for a thought for a later time. You turned your head around, scowling a bit.
"Are you too fucking stupid, doc?! Fucking run!" You yelled. Corpses of SCP-049-2 piled up in front of you, but SCP-049 was nowhere to be seen. Hearing footsteps going away from you, you turned your attention towards in front of you. You let go of the trigger, taking heavy breaths. The hallways is already painted with violence. Searching your vest for a lighter or anything to light up with, you pulled out a small flask of rubbing alcohol, as well some gaze rolls and a lighter. Grabbing your knife, you cut off a piece of a finger from a dead SCP-049-2, wrapped it up with gaze, and soaked it with the alcohol. Lighting your mini source of tinder, you hastily threw it to the pile of corpses. Hoping that it'll cut off the plague doctor and any other possible SCPs away from the elevators.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Opening the door to an office place from Gate A, you huffed in annoyance seeing that they're all the same. It feels like you're going around circles in this damn place! Hearing metal taps on the ground, you ducked over a tipped over desk, peaking over the corner. Ready to attack if it's human. Though, you are running low an ammo too... The door opened with ease, as a dark toned man appeared. His arms seemed to metallic from an unknown source, accented with a softly blue glowing hue. Ah yes, SCP-073, or titled as "Cain." Though the containment members can interact with SCP-073 safety, you had gain a bad feeling from him. He always seem to be always by your side or following you whenever you do your patrols. Always gazing you... almost in an obsessive way. You frowned, as you hesitantly withdrew your weapon away.
Stepping out of your spot, SCP-073 smiled as you do. "I thought I've seen you somewhere in the corridors, Ms." You grunted, as you rolled your shoulders. Easing your sore muscles and joints from the stress going on. Although the alarms didn't blared annoyingly loud unlike underground, the lights continued to blink red.
"What can I say? These corridors are the same, perhaps you have been walking around circles, SCP-"
"Please, call me Cain."
"...Cain..." Though, despite you being at ease with a very calm and helpful SCP. You couldn't help it but feel uneasy with him. You keep having a feeling that there is much darker tone whenever... SCP-073 is near you. Always chatting you up and worry about your health. Every. Single. Day. It's like he has an obsession with you or something...
"Ms, I can lead you where Gate A is. I've explored around the facility enough to know where it is. I know you don't trust me because I am not-"
"Lieutenant, there you are." Behind you was Dr. Gears. He seem disheveled slightly, but still maintained his stone faced. Unbothered that he managed to get some blood on him and had his clothes crinkled up. In his hand is a pistol, probably from a fallen MTF, D-class, or Chaos. The tension in the air thickens even more, as you could feel that the two of them seem to have a disliking on each other for a much darker reason. "Lieutenant, we need to leave, now." You were rather shocked, upon hearing the doctor's voice to dip down. Almost into a threatening snarl.
SCP-073 still maintained his cheerful attitude, but even then. You could tell that this is becoming dangerous. His smile seemed more forced, almost holding back the urge to attack Dr. Gears. You glanced between the two of them, thinking if you should just instead sneak away and let the two have some form of threatening stance fight or just run away fully and possibly lose your job if Dr. Gears survived the encounter. The tension between the two soon broke when distant growling and scurrying footsteps through the hallway that SCP-073 came out from. SCP-073 turned around, giving you the chance to grab Dr. Gears and dashing off where he can from. "I̴ ̷s̸m̴e̷l̴l̷ ̸h̷e̸r̴! G̸i̶v̸e̷ ̶m̶e̷ ̵h̴e̸r!" Dashing along, you found the elevator that lead to the final upper floor where the gate A is supposed to be. Rapidly spamming the button to summon the elevator, Dr. Gears was still beside you. Though... He look more agitated than being stoned face. His knuckles grew pale from holding the pistol tightly.
"That... SCP. What was he exactly doing?" Your ears perked up, as you hear a hint of venom in his voice. This is the first time you heard the doctor to break in some emotions.
"He... Was offering to lead me to where Gate A is at."
"You shouldn't habe trusted him, Lieutenant. You'll never know if he's actually truthfull about it. Expeciaaly from an SCP."
"Dr. Gears. I admire your worries, but SCP-073 means no harm... He is proven by multiple facities members that he is fri-"
"Before I found you. You could tell there was something dark with him, didn't you?"
"Well, yes. But-"
"He's planning something to do with you. You know it too. Why exactly are you trusting him?"
"I wasn't, Dr. Gears!" You growled lowly. You were already annoyed and tired from running away from danger and protecting his ass already. "Before, you came along and managed to distracted SCP-073 mid sentence. I was about to pretend to follow him to only go to the opposite way. Honestly, what the hell is up with you?!" This seem to caught off the doctor with your sudden burst of anger, though obviously he didn't seem to react to it. Before he could respond, SCP-682 burst in. His blood drips down from his matted fur... skin... thing, face, and claws. His tail swayed dangerously as he admitted a growl. "T̶h̵e̸r̸e̸ ̶y̷o̵u̵ ̴a̷r̶e̸..." The elevator opened behind you as the two of you cautiously pulled back.
Quickly, Dr. Gears pulled you inside. Firing a few shots at the beast to at least distract him momentarily. You quickly mashed the up button, hoping that the beast doesn't come in pissed and maul the two of you, or even worse, destroy the elevator. SCP-682 roared loudly at Gears' attack and him daring to touch what SCP-682 considers his. Your breathing became rapid when you saw SCP-682 dashing towards you. Though the doors closed shut, SCP-682's claws went through - almost slashing your chest. Dr. Gears pulled you closer to him, as the beast's hand left scrapes on the floor. With a groan and metal being scratched together, the elevator slowly went up. You pushed yourself away from Dr. Gears, already feeling sick and lightheaded from the near death experience. You're going to quit after this whole thing comes to an end. Leaning against the bars of the elevator, you slowly pulled in deep breaths. You looked over where the doctor is at, lo and behold, unsuprisenly the fucker is still unfazed on what just happened - despite showing some emotion earlier. The elevator groaned as it came become to a halt.
Dr. Gears slinked in-between the pried doors, as you began to reload your firearm. This is your only last round of bullets... Gonna have to go melee for a while until then... Stepping out of the elevator, suddenly your head got hit by something blunt. Vision hazy, you tried to get up but it hurts too fucking badly. You tried to move away only to end up passing out, before a blurry figure appeared.
Dr. Gears carefully took off your body camera and smashed the lens before picking you up bridal style. Though he doesn't want to hurt you, this was the only way to neutralize you. If he tried to take you far away from the foundation life, he knows that you won't go down without a fight. He finally broke into a small smile as he now realized that you'll finally be with him. No longer have to be cold and collected for professionalism. The two of you can now rest together...
"Que penses-tu faire au juste?"
"What are you doing?"
"L̵e̴t̸ ̸g̷o̸ ̶o̶f̶ ̴h̸e̸r̷!"
Oh... Seems like Dr. Gears have a competition...
(/rp! also, huge trigger warning for assault, graphic violence, death, abuse, possessive behaviour, obsession, mental breaks, hallucination, really fucking creepy treatment of a corpse, unreliable narrators, the perspective of a villain, torture, manipulation, and gaslighting! this gets pretty fucked up).
When Dream sees Tommy for the first time, there is no dramatic shift, no acknowledgement that his life had changed forever. No knowledge of the fact. All he sees is a skinny little kid who's obnoxious and loud, and he catalogues him just as one of Philza’s strays and leaves it at that.
No, it’s when Tommy drives the sword into his chest for the first time, and Dream wakes up from his non-canon death smiling despite itself when it clicks. He’s not sure what “it” is, exactly, but it’s just something about him Dream hadn’t seen in anyone before that has him hooked, captivated from the beginning.
(There's the vague recollection that he was like Tommy once, a bright eyed naive youth too loud for his own good, but that’s not unique. It’s not that, at least not entirely.)
The conflict was not started by Tommy, nor was he of any particular threat to Dream, but he was fun. So he ignored the rest, and took the boy's music discs. He knew Tommy well enough that he’d fight for them, and fight he did, and even though Dream lost in the end he laughed all the while. He’d played many a game before, but none quite this fun!
They both know this isn’t where it’ll end. Only one hopes it will be.
——
Dream didn’t care much about Wilbur's little revolutionary movement at first. As long as he obeyed the rules, and stayed in the server, it wouldn’t matter whether he delusionally thought he was under his own governance or not.
This changed immediately when he learnt Tommy was involved.
L'Manburg, a name he didn’t bother to remember until he learnt Tommy named it, was tiny, barely any more than a scavenged old world vehicle and some trees. It’s populace was peaceful, only Wilbur even an adult. None of that mattered. It wasn’t that the nation was a threat, though he certainly wouldn’t dissuade his friends fear that it was. But fighting L'Manburg meant fighting Tommy, and Dream wouldn't pass up the opportunity for anything.
He grinned with glee behind his mask as he blew Tommy's strange dirt hovel “embassy” sky high, enthusiastically threatened Tommy before remembering half heartedly to threaten the rest of the nation. He made dealings, found weak links- a new immigrant to the SMP that joined L'Manburg after the war began, it turns out. He offered extravagant promises in exchange for their betrayal, hiding the strings attached to his fingers.
Oh, but it was all worth it when the person with the eyes of an old god lead the revolutionaries into a trap, all worth it when they descended on them at once. It was definitely worth it to kill Tommy, kill Tommy, see him scream and cry in pain and stumble trying to escape and him taking a shuddering last breath. Dream had never seen anything as beautiful.
(It was a war, and feelings like this were okay in wars, right? It’s not like he was obsessed, it’s not like he was a monster. He’d been trying to be good, and killing your enemies was good, right?)
He killed Tommy a second time, too. The boy with shaking hands and a leg hanging limp challenged him to a duel for his nations future. His loss was assured, and Dream knew Tommy knew that also. This one was quicker, Tommy dead between the arrow entering his skull and his broken body make a loud thud against the planks, but it was no less fascinating. If only he had infinite canon lives, Dream would happily give up any ambitions and spend eternity seeing the boy die in so many fascinating ways.
(No, what the fuck was he thinking? The SMP was worth more than some stupid kid, and Dream wasn’t so inept with morality to know torturing someone over and over, killing them, was wrong.)
(Yet, it was so tempting he was almost ready to renounce morality wholeheartedly.)
It eventually comes to the discs again, Tommy handing Dream his prized possessions for some silly little nation. Dream knew Tommy would do anything to get them back. Having so much control was addicting, even more than control of anything else. Dream had learnt long ago that if you didn’t have complete power over anything, people would take the power from you and make you hurt.
So why did he care more about control of some kid than avoiding his own pain?
——
Dream would have sided with Tommy. Really, he would have, but Schlatt just had the better deal.
He holds the book in his hands, power filling him. He repeats the incantation, sacrifices the blood from his veins. He stares into the face of a man near-identical.
“”Brother dearest,”” he says, voice level. “”What do you wish of me?””
Dream grins behind his mask. “”Tommy.””
—
Wishes must come true, Dream thinks, as he sits on the beach of Logstedshire, Tommy passed out and leaning against his arm.
Oh, what he’d give for this moment to last forever. Alas, it passes, like they all do. Still, Tommy's getting so obedient lately- barely even grumbling as he threw his item into the hole. Part of him missed when Tommy would fight back all the while- his pained screams were entertaining. Still, it was safer this way, and more enjoyable in the long run. He’d hate to have his little songbird break it’s neck against the cage doors, never to sing again.
He’s not sure when life outside of Tommy became a chore, but he remembers dimly that it wasn’t always like that. There was a Dream long ago that wouldn’t give up friends and family, who'd cry over losing them even if he’d cut their threads voluntarily. He wasn’t that Dream anymore, the numb feeling in his chest a sign of growth. It didn’t matter that everything outside of Tommy was so miserable, because just being around the boy was a feeling a hundredfold better than any happiness he felt before.
Still, he had duties and responsibilities. Ones that seemed so important long ago, so fulfilling. Maybe one day they’d feel like that again. He had plans, from what he learnt. Government had not left him satisfied, but- whatever you could call what his relationship with Tommy was, it definitely did. Family, he supposed, recognising the boys actions towards him and his brothers. If he could make the entire server like that, that’d be a happiness greater than any other, apart from how Tommy made him feel.
He spent time with Tubbo, getting further and further towards getting that stupid fucking ram boy to calling him a friend and giving him Tommy's disc, all he wanted from him.
(He wasn’t jealous, of course he wasn’t. The anger he felt whenever Tommy called Tubbo a friend, that wasn’t jealousy. That was just logical).
Far more interesting was checking on the prison's completion. When it’s completed, it’d truly be a thing of beauty. Of course, his favourite part was the main cell, that he’d put so much thought into. He’d included all the little things that made Tommy squirm, made his breath hitch and eyes dart around fearfully. That would be so much fun.
(Tommy would learn to appreciate the fun in time, too. He was a smart boy, if irritatingly yet fascinatingly stubborn. He just needed to be taught that if he listened and just played along, Dream could give him the world.)
It took far too long, but eventually it finished, and he could return to the ugly mess of tents and logs he’d made so sure Tommy could never leave. He always started shaking when Dream showed up, trying desperately to hide his fear in his voice, and it was absolutely adorable. Dream savoured it, savoured everything about Tommy as they spent hours talking. Everything, his hysterical laugh, his nervous glances for escapes, the way he flinched whenever Dream grabbed his shoulder, his wrist, the poorly hidden look of pain when he held tighter, just hard enough to irritate the bruises that painted his skin a canvas of black and blue, it was all perfect.
Only he could love Tommy this much, and in time he knew Tommy would learn to appreciate that.
——
The second time he used the book, a tower extended from the ruins of the makeshift prison he’d made for Tommy. DreamXD stated ahead of him.
“”Brother dearest,” he said, “why are you calling on me again so soon?””
“”Bring him back,”” he said, voice painfully numb.
DreamXD shrugged a shoulder, golden hair waving around like in water. “”Who?””
“”Tommy.””
“”I cannot,”” DreamXD said. “”He lives.”” Dream couldn’t help but smile at hearing that.
“”Then bring him back to me.””
DreamXD laughed, a sound like church bells. “”That would be unnecessary. Did I not already grant you the mortal?””
Dream clenched his fist hard enough blood dripped onto scorched earth. “”He left me-“”
“”And you shall find him, no matter what.”” DreamXD smiled under the mask. “”You are bonded to him, and neither death nor distance shall break that. Just look, and you will find him, til the end of time and even past.””
“”Thank you,”” Dream said, genuinely for once.
“”Only the best for my little brother and sister. And I know you would do the same for us, brother dearest.””
——
His planning had come to fruition for once.
They were alone, in the depths of the Earth, just him, Tommy, the fucking hilarious excuse for a “president” Tommy called a friend for some reason, and his axe.
Finally, he could bring his dreams to fruition. He could get rid of any loose threads, and claim what was rightfully his. And once he’d taught Tommy to be grateful, he could get to work on the rest of the server.
It’d be beautiful. Everyone would be his friend, his brother, his sister, something in between. There would be no more wars, just peace. Everyone would be safe, he’d know they’re safe and they’d never rip him to pieces and laugh at his pain. And oh, it’d like be hard work, breaking everyone into obedience but not too much to the point they become boring, but so enjoyable and satisfying. He’d almost be disappointed when it was over.
Tommy- his Tommy, his Tommy, was crying, and it was amusing but he almost wanted to reach out and comfort him and explain it’d all be for the best. He’d do that later, once he’d secured him and any loose ends were gone forever. He couldn’t afford weakness until they were alone, but Tommy made it so tempting.
The ram and Tommy hugged a final goodbye, and the adoration he had towards Tommy, hiding his fear behind a smile, made Dream fucking sick. He should know Tommy was his. They all should know. He’d teach them, when he made the server a perfect family. Even Tubbo, if Tommy begged enough. Dream would do anything to hear Tommy's pathetic, gorgeous begging, breaking through his aggressive walls, and bringing back some random sheep was easily in his brother's power.
See, he could be kind. He wasn’t cruel, he wasn’t a monster. He didn’t even care if he was anymore, fun was so much more important than nonsensical human concepts, but it wasn’t even true. He could be incredibly, selflessly kind, as long as he had a reason. They’d learn, once he fulfilled his dream.
The sound of a nether portal, of betrayal, shatters his dreams and at this point he wonders why he’s surprised.
——
He’d had doubts, during the weeks (months, years? he had no way of knowing) he’d been trapped in the cell, but Tommy being here with him confirmed his design was excellent.
Oh, Tommy was being fucking obnoxious- and Dream knew he was doing it on purpose- but he saw it in the way he never was able to look at the lava properly, the way he always woke up in a cold sweat calling for his daddy like the child he insisted he wasn’t. It was perfect.
(Of course it was, though. It’s not hard to build on something already perfected, and Tommy was the perfect little toy.)
Tommy was so frustratingly different though. He tried not to take it out on him- it wasn’t his fault that everyone else spread lies, planted nonsense in his head about Dream being bad and not trying to do the best for everyone but especially for him- but he struggled sometimes, and it was always so tempting to hurt Tommy anyway, and get lost in the melody of his screams. It wouldn’t teach Tommy anything though, and that’s what was important. He needed to teach Tommy what was best for him.
Tommy had unlearnt all the lessons Dream painstakingly taught him. That wouldn’t be an issue- it was so, so fun to teach- but he knew, painfully deep down in his heart that he could not hold Tommy forever, not yet. The lockdown wasn’t forever, and Dream had no escape route yet. Tommy would just forget everything again, at the hands of his “friends” that couldn’t love him as much as Dream did. They needed to learn far more than Tommy did.
(Except Ranboo of course- oh, the purple eyed boy had the silly naive thoughts in his head everyone seemed to have that friendship was anything but possessing another, but he agreed family came first, listened to Dream, helped him, even with clenched teeth.)
And when one day the frustration got to Dream one day and he was so furious he hit Tommy again and again against the walls of the prison and strangled him until he was cold all he could do was laugh and laugh and laugh.
It was so, so funny, because of course he’d be the one to destroy everything he loved.
——
This time, when DreamXD is called, he looks upon his brother with concern.
“”Brother dearest,”” he says, “”are you quite alright?””
Dream laughs, because of course he’s alright! The tears staining his face must be joy, because of course he’s alright. He’s holding Tommy here, with him, and he was quiet, he must be listening. He can’t be dead, he can’t be, then there’d be no point to any of this.
“”Drista has been concerned for you for quite a while, you know,”” DreamXD continued. “”Is this because of your mortal?””
“”He’s been ever so quiet lately,”” Dream said, with a voice hoarse from crying and laughter. “”I’m not sure to be concerned or happy with him.””
“”You’re not well, Dream.”” DreamXD said, with a tone of finality despite clearly being wrong. “”The boy is dead.””
Dream laughs. “”And yet he does not slip from my grasp.””
“”Then, brother, why did you call me?””
The silence pierces through air like a knife. Eventually, through hiccuping sobs, Dream says “”Just, please, bring him back.””
Tommy sputters to life with ghostly eye and pure white streaks and more bruise on him than corpselike skin and Dream thinks he has never been more perfect.
——
Quackity's left, he thinks, because the pain's stopped growing.
He laughs, because he doesn’t know what to fucking do anymore but laugh. He can’t give up the secrets of the book, of course he can’t. Family comes first, after all, and he dreads to think what the bastard would do to his brother. But the pain was awful, never ending in waves through his whole body, and he almost just wants to confess so he can die.
He cradles what’s left of his arm since the bastard cut it off at the elbow, and he sobs. He doesn’t even care to hide it with his mask. It’s not even the pain that hurts the most, even. It’s that Tommy's gone, and by the time Dream escapes- because he’s going to escape, he’s got to- he might be so far from his grasp even their fates being tied might not be enough.
“Of course that’s not true,” a fake voice says in his head, and wavy form approaches. Fuck, the blood loss must be bad today. It always is when he sees things. Usually it’s George or Bad or Sapnap, and it leaves him with a numb feeling in his chest that he’s familiar with, but today it’s Tommy, and that’s worse. It reminds him of what he cannot hold.
“Fuck off,” he mouths at the apparition, voice too tired and hoarse from screaming to speak properly. Not-Tommy laughs, and the sound is so similar to Tommy he almost thinks that his desperate prayers have been answered, Tommy is there again, but he reached his fingers forward and they go through his tired hallucination.
“You’re a real dick, you know that?” Not-Tommy says, and laughs again. “But I know you mean the best.” Dream shrugs his shoulder at the fake, and then curls up, new waves of pain curling up his arm.
“I don’t know why I was ever friends with that bastard.” Not-Tommy lies, and Dream wants to believe it. “You’re just having fun. He’s cruel.” Tommy would never understand that clear distinction, no matter how much Dream explained it, but the fake said it with such conviction it was almost enough for Dream to fall for it.
“When you get out, I’ll be there, Dream. And then we can all be a big happy family,” Not-Tommy says, the thoughts so obviously Dream's and not Tommy’s but- the idea that Tommy understood, that he saw sense, was so tempting, Dream allowed himself to believe it, just for a second. Just until the pain started anew.
Broken and bloody, Dream drifted into unconsciousness with a smile on his face.
Raul was a mess as soon as he was able to get into an empty room.
He allowed himself to finally let the severity of the situation hit him. He had no idea where Y/N and Tom were, if they were alright or what could Geonoff could possibly win with this. He certainly would’ve tried blackmailing them to get something in return of the two agents he had in his hands.
He’s been pacing back and forth in the tiny room as he tried to remain calm enough to keep his rationality so he could still be helpful. Raul just wanted to punch his way into that base and get the kid and his girl back, but he knew that was completely stupid, even for him. He could practically see the frown on Y/N’s face if she ever heard his brilliant idea, and the vision alone was almost enough to bring him to tears. Instead he shook his head, knowing that letting his feelings take control would only be a waste of time in this situation, and that’s something he learned a long time ago when he first started working with his best friend.
She was a really rational, and maybe even a bit cold on the field. Always with a sharp remark on the tip of her tongue and a thousand of extra plans in case something failed, she could easily slip into the role of the Professor in Money Heist. Constantly analyzing and thinking. And while she was clearly the brain of their duo, Raul was clearly the heart, not thinking twice before jumping head first to save someone or get and intel. And that’s why they worked so well, he pushed her to be more spontaneous while she kept him in his place (and alive) most of the time.
He needed her more than ever right now.
The sound of hushed whispers and two pairs of shoes approaching him, made Raul sharply move in the direction of the door, still on edge, and waiting for it to reveal his visitors. As soon as the handle turned, he was met with his triplet and Celine wearing the same saddened and worried expressions. He might’ve come down to help with the investigation as fast as he learned about his best friend.
Peter sighed taking in the sight of his brother. Raul looked like a lost puppy in distress, eyes on his face but his mind was clearly somewhere else, shoulders sagged and curls a mess from the constant nervous tugging habit he had. One look was enough for him to know he was carrying all the guilt and having no clue how to fix it. It’s the same look he gave his younger self when he accidentally broke his brand knew camera.
“We’re going to find them” was the first thing he said and Raul nodded, looking unconvinced “It’s not your fault” he then added and at that, his gaze finally seemed to snap into place as he stared his brother dead in the eye.
“Whose fault is it then?” his voice sounded a lot smaller and less threatening than he pictured.
“Geonoff’s” Celine mumbled “but not yours, you did what was best, what was right”
Raul shook his head in response, mumbling a quiet ‘yeah, right’ under his breath, but Celine was quick to take three steps closing the distance between them and placing both hands on his shoulders.
“Cut this shit right now” she snapped, catching both him and Peter by surprise “you and I both know I’m not your biggest fan and never truly got what everyone else saw in you, but this past months changed my perspective of things and you’re actually a decent person, a great friend and an amazing agent, and you did the right thing” she said squeezing his shoulder for great measure “and you and I both know Y/N would’ve wanted you to do the same thing, she’d be proud of you”
Raul nodded slowly and Celine let him go at that, as he was still processing her words. Peter finally reached his brother, placing his hand on his shoulder as he turned to face him “I know you’re going through a lot right now, but we need you to help us find her, we need you to hold on a bit and try to think of the places they could possibly take her, everything you heard or saw on the past month is useful”
He nodded again “yeah, okay, I can do that”
“Good, come with me then” Peter said patting his brother’s back “she’ll come back to us, you and I know her enough to know she’s probably making their life a living hell”
Raul snorted a little laugh, that didn’t quite reach his eyes and nodded along, as they dragged him back into the main room. He needed to do what Y/N would in his place, shut his feelings off and analyze every every they took.
-*-
Y/N starts slowing coming back into her senses, feeling her muscles burning, her arms stiff and head hurting, the dark place she was situated doing little to help her regain her memories. She tried looking around to see if she could find something useful to recognize the place, only noticing a slim frame still unconscious close to her. The person had its back to her, but from their clothes and body type, she was able to recognize them as Tommy.
Tommy who was still breathing and almost at arms reach.
That was a good sign, or as good as it could be in this situation. But he was there, breathing and no signs of big blood loss around them, so no external wounds that needed to be taken care of urgently. She tried to reach for him, but the heavy chains attaching her wrists to the cobblestone floor kept her in place.
She tried locating their belongings, or anything that could help them get out of there, but it was all missing. Raul was also nowhere in sight, which probably meant he wasn’t there and probably the info was delivered safely. At least that’s what she hopped with no signs of him around them.
There? Where the hell was there?
That’s when it finally clicked to her, she had no idea where they were or how long was she out. They could be across the ocean as far as she was concerned. She had to get them out of there. But before she could start planning their way out with absolutely nothing and Tommy still out, she heard the grating of the old and rusty hinges coming from the only way in and out of that room, a heavy iron door.
Coming from the source of noise that snatched her attention was the man responsible for all of this. Geonoff Reyes himself. Wearing a button up shirt, with the sleeves rolled back, and a pair of dress pants, and a smug look on his face. He took lazy long strides getting close to her, crouching down in front of her.
Geonoff smirked at her “You know, it’s pretty hard to fool me and you almost got away with it, if it weren’t for your stupid boss you’d be home by now”
Y/N just blinked at him, a completely neutral facial expression on as she stared up at him, making him tsk.
“By the way, how is your little boyfriend? Does he know this relationship is just an act or you manipulate him as well?” he asked and she didn’t even flinch at his statement, noticing that her silence was doing more at getting him upset than clapping back “it must be sad, being such a pathetic agent and letting his little girl and friend get caught as he fled, and in the end discovering this was one sided”
Her gaze shifted quickly to Tommy and then back to Geonoff’s face, that was too close to hers for her taste “don’t worry, he’ll live for now, need him to get you to cooperate” and Y/N felt a little lighter knowing that, taking all the self control she had to not let that show on her face “you know they’ll never find you, right? Thought about sending a little photo as a gift for them, but might do it whenever we move to our next location, better lighting and stuff”
“What do you want?” her voice was hoarse, but she was able to keep her tone steady enough to not seem frightened.
“Oh, sugar, missed that sweet voice of yours, it matches your pretty face, just wish I could see that beautiful smile again, but we’ll get to that” he said patting her cheek with his long fingers, making her insides turn in disgust and she had to swallow the sudden wave of nausea down “I want something simple, just know all the info you’ve been feeding your precious little team for the past weeks, you’re smart enough knowing I wouldn’t mind hurting you to get what I want”
Y/N only stared back at him watching his brow twitch in annoyance “don’t want to hurt your pretty face, so cooperate with me and I might even let you go safely”
But her silent response seemed to be enough for him to loose it, because he took a deep breath before slapping his hand across her face for the first time. The pure shock of the action almost made her react, but she held her face up as she kept staring at him, her face burning but she wouldn’t give him the little taste of a small victory at breaking her neutral mask of indifference.
“This could be so easy” he mumbled slapping the other side a little harder “you didn’t have to do this, you could be free by now” the third one was stronger than she was expecting, making her face turn with the pure force of it, the loud sound coming from the aggression echoing on the empty room and down the large corridor, the echo making her realize there wasn’t much down where they were, mostly just blank empty walls without doors to divide the sound.
“What is it? Anything you’d like to say?” he asked grabbing her chin and yanking her face to look up at him, but her mouth remained closed “well, your choice”
After a few consecutive hits, one being so strong making her face collide with the wall when it turned, and she felt the sticky liquid running down her face. Her skin probably breaking with the brisk contact with the stone wall, cutting her cheek in the process. The seemed to please him, since he let out a loud boisterous laugh, making her lean her head so he could see it better mumbling a quiet “vicious bitch” under his breath “stop fighting back” before going back to it.
After a couple more minutes, her right cheek numb already, Geonoff said grabbing her face roughly in his hands, forcing her to look up at him “Come on, sugar, you’re really stressing me out here”
“I’m truly sorry you had to kidnap and keep two agents hostage to try and prove you’re better than your sister” she said blinking at him monotonously and that seemed to hit a nerve, because Geonoff squeezed her face harder in his palms before pushing her head against the wall.
Y/N felt her limbs giving out as her vision got blurry, her vision going dark before she felt her body leaning to her side and hitting the floor with a dull thud. The sound of shoes hitting against the rocks and the door being shut closed again a sign that the man lost his patience and left them behind. She tried fighting the numbness getting ahold of her body, but ended up succumbing at the end.
The sounds of waves breaking somewhere near them and the constant throbbing of her head dragging her back into unconsciousness.
good morning/good evening author chwan!💖 , idk if u do yandere requests but if u do write yandere, could u do yandere sanji zoro and kid ( separately) with a fem!s/o who doesn’t disobey them and knows they’re yanderes but is still blindly inlove with them ? once again, u don’t need to do it if ur uncomfortable ofc 💖
Yandere! Sanji, Zoro, Kid with a fem!S/O who’s still in love with them even though she knows they’re yandere
Sanji x Reader, Zoro x Reader, Kid x Reader
Description: Yandere! Sanji, Zoro, & Kid (seperate) with a fem!S/O who knows he’s yandere but is still madly in love with him and never disobeys him
Warnings: Yandere, mentions of abuse
A/N: you practically described how I would be with a yandere boyfriend 😂💕
Sanji was genuinley worried when you realized his personality and true intentions, and he was just as shocked when you didn’t change for the worse but instead said you find it sweet and flattering
he swears he fell in love with you 10x more that day, and everyday after
there are no secrets between you two, because he’s never liked lying to you or keeping things from you- but also because he doesn’t have to worry about you running away or getting mad at him
you had sort of like a “sharing night” after you mentioned something about his actions, comparing them to possessiveness and “yandere-ness”- it was basically just a night where he held you very close against him in bed, face-to-face he explained his actions and why he was so possessive of you, why he was violent towards anyone who looked at you, telling you he only does it because he’s absolutely and unconditionally in love with you- he was holding extra tight just in case you realized the extent of his actions and tried to get away from him
he trusts you enough to let you out of the ship, let you outside and into villages, but he’s either by your side or hiding following you inconspicuously- it’s not that he doesn’t trust you, he trusts you with his life, but he doesn’t trust anyone else
it actually seems like a normal relationship, mostly to you, people on the outside notice Sanji’s unusual actions and sometimes they try to point it out and get you to understand, and Sanji usually overhears this and is ready to take care of them but he hears you tell them you know his actions aren’t completely right but you still love him and his heart can’t help but swell at your words
one of the things Sanji is most afraid of is someone else telling you that his actions are wrong and he’s a bad man, infecting your mind with poisoned thoughts and making you turn against him- this is another reason he doesn’t let you out of his sight or have other friends besides the strawhats (during alliances he doesn’t let you leave his side or often keeps you locked in your room with him)
Zoro is not allowed near you
one of the things Sanji loves most about your deep rooted love for him, is that whenever you’re out in town he doesn’t even have to keep you tucked into his side, your eyes never leave him and his never leave you, moments like those when you’re surrounded by people but he is still the only one you look at, when the people around are watching with judging pitiful looks but you look at him with eyes of adoration and doubtless affection, he feels mosy euphoric
he feels like the most lucky man alive, he knowws he doesn’t have to follow you around or keep you constant at his side because you wouldn’t even dream of leaving him anyway- but he does it because he’s afraid someone else will pull you away
truthfully he didn’t really care if you accepted his ways or not, it wasn’t like he valued that specific opinion of yours- but when you casually mentioned something about him being possessive and he looked at you taken aback and slightly wary, like he was contemplating on grabbing you right then and there because he tought you would run, but you simply smiled and said you didn’t mean to offend him then kissed his nose- he found this very interesting
but he didn’t ask about it, he had always been fairly obvious with his actions and he was kind of surprised you hadn’t mentioned it sooner, he just thought you were stupid
your lack of concern to his possession and aggression put towards the relationship was endearing and he often found himself testing just how far he could go, killing someone right in front of you or locking you in the bedroom, of course he wouldn’t go too far, especially since there wasn’t a reason for punishment but rather rewards
he was glad he wouldn’t have to hide his reasons for keeping you inside or not allowing you to have friends, istead of saying “they’re dangerous” or “they were talking about hurting you” he could simply say “you’re mine” and you would blush and tuck yourself further into his side, making him smile fondly and kiss the crown of your head- and thank god you don’t try to be friends with Sanji, in fact you tell him to leave you alone and Zoro is in heavenly euphoria
when you’re alone he often asks “do you love me” “are you only mine” “you know I love you right”, just to hear you say you love him and you’re heart belongs to him
he’s proud of the lovesick look in your eyes and his owership of your heart, he can occasionally get cocky about it. but he doesn’t understand how he got so lucky, sometimes he finds himself up late at night watching you sleep eerily peaceful on his chest and he starts telling himself that you’re lying about your feeling to get him to trust you and let you out on your own only for you to run away then
this is one reason he never lets you out of his sight and you’re not allowed to go anywhere without him, if you do he punishes you- his puishments range from slaps to slices from his swords, after punishments he takes you to Chopper and stays while he bandages you up because he’s heard Chopper more than once try to explain to you the true extent of Zoro’s obsession and actionss and how wrong his love actually is, that it’s not actually love but an infatuation- the only things keeping Zoro from killing him is your pleas and the fact he cares about Chopper slightly
one thing that pisses Zoro off extremely easily is when people try to tell you (and sometimes him) that he doesn’t actually love you but it’s simply an unhealthy and dangerous obsession, he loves you and he’s never been more sure of something in his whole life, he makes sure to tell you that- he doesn’t need someone trying to ruin or ruining what he has worked so hard for
Kid didn’t and doesn’t give a fuck if you don’t like his possessiveness or aggresssion or violence, and as much as he wanted you to truly love him he didn’t care much because it wasn’t like he wwould let you go if you didn’t love. him- he’s skeptical of your acceptance and love, similar to Zoro, he doesn’t trust that you actually love him and he thinksyou’re trying to escape him
he still doesn’t let you leave the bedroom unless he or Killer is with you, he keeps the door locked from the outside and sometimes chains you to some piece of furniture as an extra precaution
whenever you show any sign of pure fondness and affection he always gets puzzled and thinks you’re trying to distract him
at least noww he can slightly ease up on how tightly he holds you when you’re out with him, he doesn’t really need to bring the leash anymore, he kpt you on a literal chain usually- you have a collar that says his name and he adores how much you fawn over it
even if you don’t have any problem with Kid being yanderem ad he knows you don’t, and you love him and he knows that, the relationship wouldn’t be much different than if you didn’t actually love him
also similar to Zoro, he likes to test your limits and see how far he can go before you’re truly horrified and disturbed by his actions, but he’ll go farther than Zoro
he hates that people try to interfere with you and his relationship, but he knows that he. doesn’t really have to worry about that because he knows he’s manipulated your mind far from being able to think badly of him
he loves that you go to him for safety and comfort, fiding it amusing and ironic when he’s the one who’s the most of a danger to you- he likes hurting you only to ask you if you still love him and telling you he does this because he loves you, and because you’re his property and he owns you
he teases you constantly for your devotion to him, purposely pointing out and bringing up the worst things he’s done for/because of you
he loves how tightly you hold him, it gives him a sense of intimacy and is a great way to show him you love him truly, when someone threatens to take you away or if someone had been filling your head with nonsense about his ‘cruel acts towards you” or if you were talking to someone else that’s not on the crew (including Sanji) he hold. you extremely tight and will tie one ofyour wrists to the bed despite knowing that you won’t leave, it’s just his deep hidden insecurities and trust issues, and the fact you’re not yelling at him but instead telling him you understand just makes him more nervous because normally people wowuldn’t be okay with it so what else would you be doing than trying to win his trust to leave
A rant about some shady eels...
Let’s talk about Floyd and Jade… like really talk about them. I see a lot of things that paint them in a very different light than they’re presented in canon and I’m not sure if their character is just being missed all together, or it’s been collectively decided by the fandom that they’re too shady so lets all pretend they’re cute, kind, and cuddly… or something.
Cause reading and rereading the cards really drives home the disconnect between the majority of fandom eels vs canon eels and it drives me fucking nuts. So where do I start with this? I guess we can start at the ‘please actually read the stories that have the eels in them’. Pretty low bar, but here we are. Read the main story. Then the event stories. Then every card story they’re present in. Twstarchives has a list of who appears in what story and that makes it REAL easy. If y’all have read the stories and still wanna disagree with what I’ve got to say, I’m happy to discuss. Also, If you’re cool with OOC eels, feel free to continue on and enjoy the content how you will.
I think imma have to start with Jade cause I see SO much of him being the perfect butler and gentleman, which of course he is, but it’s always missing the underlying cunning. Jade isn’t a docile little slave following orders because he enjoys it. He likes people watching, and doesn’t like when people pay attention to him. How better to go about unnoticed than to stand beside someone like Floyd or Azul who draw attention to themselves simply by existing? He’s almost always planning *something* it’s just not always clear what, and has made it clear that people are easier to manipulate if they trust you.
Jade likes chaos just as much as Floyd does, he’s just better at maintaining his composure about it, which makes him a better architect for it. The poise and grace is an act in order to completely charm and manipulate. That’s why him and Floyd are a team, they’re like the good cop bad cop, both out to get you, but have very different parts to play. His voice lines make it really obvious that he’s got a running interest in causing problems too, “...I would never say that. Yes, ‘I’ wouldn’t”, “Whenever I see someone heavily concentrating on something, I get the urge to start talking to them...”, “...I simply enjoy anything that entertains me” etc etc Him and Floyd both enjoy playing with people, and watching them struggle.
Let’s talk some Jade facts:
Observant as fuck
Manages to pull one over on Vil, who KNOWS Jade is up to something, but still isn’t able to figure out what.
Tells off Floyd for threatening the students too early...and reminds him that they’re much easier to manipulate if they trust you first.
Has dirt on LITERALLY every student in the school
Has ZERO problems exploiting Floyd for Azul to fulfil his contract (contrary to the ‘they are inseparable and never fight’ line of thought)
Blackmail is an eels best friend.
Happily dishes out backhanded compliments
Utterly willing (and probably very ready) to completely destroy someone if he felt the need to.
Now, Floyd is a bit harder to get a read on because his moods flip so easily, but I always feel like he’s portrayed as too childish, too stupid, and too passive. One of our first introductions to Floyd in his SSR is him telling Jade threatening people with words takes too long and it’s SO MUCH EASIER TO JUST BREAK THEIR BONES. Gentle reminder, that literally every single instance Floyd has said he’s going to squeeze someone it has been a THREAT. It’s been shown MULTIPLE times that the other students are terrified of getting on his bad side, he picks fights with people constantly, and he literally harasses people for fun . Floyd is “the muscle” of Octavinelle, and doesn’t bother with all the planning and scheming like Jade, he’s much quicker to violence and clearly loves the thrill of the chase. He’s going to have fun, and it’s very likely at your expense.
Floyd says on multiple occasions that he does whatever he thinks is fun, and no one can control his moods. Azul and Jade both get annoyed when he starts being a brat, but still can’t control him to do anything that he doesn’t want to do when he’s in said mood. He’s shown multiple times to simply do what he thinks is fun, fuck everyone else and what they’re trying to do. Who cares if basketball club doesn’t mean dodgeball club, he wants to play dodgeball, so get out of the way or you’re getting hit with a ball. The end. There’s no controlling what he does, and he’s not likely to sit and play nice with anyone for hours on end because that’s BORING. All he does he does because it’s fun, and the second he gets bored of something he’s off to do the next thing. He doesn’t like following orders and has been shown getting hostile after being told what to do by “humans”, and doesn’t even follow directions in classes because it’s boring. I can literally not stress enough that Floyd does what Floyd wants, fuck everyone else.
So here’s some quick floyd facts:
will do what he wants, every single time.If it’s boring, he’s done with it.
is brilliant… if he feels like putting in the work
can be kind...if he’s in the right mood
enjoys playing with people and watching them struggle
doles out threats like they’re candy
has said Azul looks delicious in Octopus form twice (reminder both him and Jades favourite food is octopus)
Okay, so we’ve determined that both the twins like to play with people in their own ways, but what about their relationship with each other and Azul? They’re obviously very close, but not without issues. Floyds mood swings still frustrate Jade and Jade’s compliments often come off as antagonistic to Floyd to the point he picks fights with him. It says that they chose to live together, and are both glad of it cause they each keep things interesting...Which is where their relationship with Azul comes in. They say they knew OF him as children, but didn’t really take an interest in him until middle school and decided to stick with him because he was interesting. Floyd says a lot of things to do with the Coral Sea is boring, so I suspect an ambitious octopus was intriguing enough for the both of them to force their friendship on him.
...That being said, Jade doesn’t 100% trust Azul. He says he’d never be willing to give him his unique magic for any reason, cause Azul could make up any excuse to get his hands on it (Floyd of course, is much more casual with his magic and has said he could live without it so doesn’t care as much). The twins mention that they continue to stick around with him because he’s entertaining, and the second he’s no longer interesting they’ll challenge him/drop him, whichever is more beneficial to them at the time. So while the three of them seem inseparable, it really is the duo+Azul on the side, and while I personally can’t see them dropping him anytime soon, the threat is still there. (Of course, all of this could be taken as jest as well, so this is just my interpretation here)
To tie it up, I’ll leave you with the voice lines from their duo magic, in case you still thought they weren’t shady murder eels.
Floyd: “Ahahaha! We’re gonna do ‘em in, Jade~!”
Jade: “As long as you’re having fun, Floyd.”
And
Jade: May I ask that you entrust me with this today, Floyd?
Floyd: ‘Kay~ Jade. What’re you going to do~?
nurse’s office || tobio kageyama x reader
summary: you visit your boyfriend - tobio kageyama - in the nurse’s office after hinata spiked a ball directly at his face
tw// blood, swearing, mentions of violence
You rushed down the hallway, jacket half on and half waving around as a cape behind you while still stuffing your supplies from the previous class into your handbag as you ran.
Yes, ran. One of the hall monitors tried to get you to slow down by shoving their arm out in front of your path but you simply swerved them; nothing was going to stop you from getting to your stupid blueberry boyfriend.
Also, the fact that you were mad too made your expression ten times more threatening and dark so if the hall monitor did somehow get you stop, he would’ve immediately regretted it.
Your all-around aggressive demeanour was probably the reason that girls like Yachi were simping for you and boys like Hinata shat their pants whenever you were in a 10 foot radius of them. And due to your need to constantly make snarky remarks - yet the paired with the inability to receive them without getting your feelings hurt - it was almost inevitable that you’d end up with someone like Kageyama.
Eventually, you reached the door of the nurse office; a place that was all too familiar as you’d sit in there for hours holding and icepack to your bloody nose or your black eye after getting in another fight with some braindead scum who tried to two-time one of your friends - which was a shamefully often occurrence.
You chapped on the door; not something you’d usually do but you’d rather knock than walk in during his check-up. “Bakeyama..” You grumbled, pulling out a pocket mirror from your purse to check if you had ruined your lipgloss - which you hadn’t. “Can I come in?”
It took a moment but then you were finally greeted by the angelic noise of Kageyama groaning from the other side of the door, “Eh, no. Go away.”
You giggled, a sweet smile graced your perfectly glossed lips as you shoved your pocket mirror away, pushing the door open as you sung in your best ‘lovely girlfriend’ voice, “I’m coming in, baby.” Which resulted in you immediately being met by Kageyama roaring, “Boke! I said go away!”
You rolled your eyes, slipping through the doorway and promptly closing it behind you, your expression immediately dropping into a frown as you realised Kageyama was in a situation you were quite familiar with. He was sitting on the ‘bed’ - which was in fact a regular duo school desk with a duvet and pillow on it - with tissues sticking out from his bleeding nostrils.
“Don’t get your panties in a twist, king - it’s not like you haven’t seen mine like..a hundred times.”
Kageyama didn’t understand most things but your statement especially perplexed him, “Seen what a hundred times? Your panties?” That was the most obvious conclusion he could come to but if that was what you meant - as much as he wished it was - it wouldn’t be true.
His question precipitated a burst of heat to erupt on the tips of your ears, slowly flowing from there to cover your cheeks, leading to you hiding your face with your hands in embarrassment, “Stupid! No! I meant my bloody nose!”
Kageyama nodded, unable to stifle a laugh at how cute you looked while flustered, “Ah, okay.” He hummed, trying to admire your blushing face but your hands shielding his view made it a challenge. “I like your nails.”
You paused, removing your hands from your face and turned them around to look at your plain, unmanicured nails. You shot your boyfriend a puzzled look, “Huh? But they’re not even done.”
“Yeah, I know.” Kageyama sighed, mindlessly cracking his knuckles. “I just wanted you to move your hands so I could see your face.”
You furrowed your eyebrows, about to give him a scolding for not applying those sort of problem solving skills to his schoolwork but he began speaking again before you even got the chance to open your mouth, “How did you even know I was here?”
You hummed in thought before pulling out your phone, inputting your PIN then opening IMessage to show Kageyama the texts that Hinata sent you.
You impatiently rolled your eyes as Illiteracyama took what felt like a millennium to read those two messages, “I figured you were in the nurse’s office because the tangerine wouldn’t have mentioned it otherwise.”
Kageyama nodded, finally averting his gaze from the phone as an indication that he had finally finished reading the messages, “Yeah, okay. You should respond though, he’s probably shitting himself right now thinking that you’re going to beat him up or something.”
“Why would he think I’d do that?” You innocently inquired, checking you lip-gloss in your front camera again - it was basically second nature at this point.
“I don’t know. He’s just a pussy, I guess. The rest of the team aren’t intimidated by you at all.” Kageyama mused, recalling how fond most of the team were of you when you first met them at a match.
You simply shrugged, closing your camera and opening IMessage back up, typing the most reassuring response you could think of. It was a struggle because everything you said could’ve came off as threatening depending on how he interpreted it but you ultimately settled with:
After you placed your phone back into your into your purse, you turned your attention back to Mr bloody nose sat in front of you. After a moment of exchanging an intense gaze with him, you burst out laughing, causing Kageyama to quirk up an eyebrow. “What’s so funny?”
You tossed your head back in bliss, wiping tears of joy away from your eyes, “You look so cute with the tissues- and the nose-” You were hardly able to form a whole, cohesive sentence through your wheezes.
Your choice of words being ‘cute’ to describe him set his cheeks aflame, “I-jus-you-” he stammered, not sure how exactly to respond, thus he blurted the first thing that came to mind. “Fuck off.”
You paid no attention to his comment and eventually you cackles died down to nothing but light pants accompanied by a gleeful smile. “Yeah,” You breathed, glancing at the time displayed on the clock by the door, “I should probably get going - unless you’d miss me to much.” You cooed, pulling out your pocket mirror again to make sure your tears didn’t ruin your lashes.
“You wish.” Kageyama smirked, always having felt respect for how much effort and dedication you put into your makeup and image - it kinda made him want to care about his appearance more but then again, why would he want to put in the extra time in the morning to spike his hair rather than doing something more productive like.. practising sets?
“How long until you’re allowed to leave? Did the nurse tell you?” You inquired out of curiosity, slipping on the other sleeve of your jacket which had apparently been hanging off this whole time.
Kageyama subconsciously extended his arm out intertwine his fingers with yours as he wracked his brain for the answer, “I think she said I can go home when a family member comes to pick me up - which is stupid because I am literally fine to walk home myself but she said it had to do with protocol and stuff.” He trailed off closer to the end of his sentence, his hoarse voice lowering drastically.
“Yeah.” You mused, rubbing your thumb across the back of his hand as you glanced around the room in search of anything you might’ve accidentally dropped but the coast seemed clear. “Anyway, um, bye!” You chirped, leaning in to peck him on the lips as you’d usually do but they were currently covered the long pieces of tissue hanging out his nose. So, instead you craned your neck upwards to plant a kiss on his forehead before letting go of his hand, turning on your heels and heading out.
“Bye.” Kageyama grumbled in response.
You gently closed the door behind you and strolled over to the gates of the school at your own pace, you took a longer route though so you didn’t have to pass the hall monitor you veered around on your way to the nurse’s office.
Upon arriving at the gates of the school to start your journey home, you felt your purse vibrate so you pulled out your phone, examining the lockscreen for the notification. It was a text from Kageyama. Of course that piqued your interest so you opened it immediately, the text in question causing a light blush to cross your features.
You smiled; everything about this was just hilarious to you.
Firstly, of course Kageyama’s first time saying ‘I love you’ was going to be over text. And you couldn’t blame him either, it’s an intimidating thing to say aloud so you were just glad he had the balls to say it over IMessage.
Secondly, you were very proud of Illiteracyama for being able to spell such a hard set of words in so little time as it had only been around 4 minutes since you left the nurse’s office - this must be a new personal record for him.
And last but not least, the cherry on top, it was followed by this extremely charming and persuasive message.
You burst out laughing on the spot and luckily there was nobody around to judge you. Oh, the joy Kageyama would make you feel after saying the most simple things - it was almost like his superpower; besides his killer sets.
Wiping another tear from your eye, you typed your response with weak fingers.
@vinchenzoquassano Here’s my analysis on the juxtaposition of Han Seok and Vincenzo as brother figures to Han Seo! It got a bit long, so I’m putting it under a cut.
So we all know that Vincenzo and Han Seok are meant to contrast each other a lot, whether it’s fire imagery vs ice imagery, caring about family vs seeing family as a tool, or having everything under control vs being reckless and impulsive. And I think one of the things that really highlights the difference between Vincenzo and Han Seok in ways of thinking/treating others is the way they relate to Han Seo.
From the first interaction between the Jang brothers, we see that their relationship is based on threats, violence, and fear. It is not a sibling relationship, the only thing that connects them as siblings is the fact that they share the same dad. There are none of the usual characteristics of a healthy relationship between siblings, none of the fun, none of the support, no familial love, no empathy, concern, or worry. And their relationship most likely never resembled a proper siblinghood, as we know that Han Seok tormented Han Seo from a young age. Additionally, to begin with Han Seo is just ‘Han Seok’s brother, the puppet chairman’, the shadow of his brother even though ironically it’s Han Seok who remains in the shadows in the beginning. We only see him begin to shine as his own character when he starts to actively plan against Han Seok with the help of Mr Han, and this is only amplified when he starts to look up to Vincenzo.
This is why what Han Seo gets from Vincenzo is so important to him, even to the point of not betraying Vincenzo once Han Seok is out of the picture. It’s all there in that scene where they’re drinking together in episode 18. It’s poignant because the things Han Seo lists that he feels comfortable about with Vincenzo are all things that he’d had bad experiences with when they were with Han Seok. Both duos have scenes involving hockey, but in the SeokSeo scene Han Seo is very much in a lower position of power as he stands unprotected in a suit in contrast to Han Seok’s full hockey gear, getting hit by hockey pucks (we see this contrast again when Han Seo is the one wearing the hockey gear and hitting pucks at executives in suits, more on that later). It’s their first scene together, and it’s a pretty good image of their relationship. Han Seok has always had the high ground, and Han Seo has always felt vulnerable and unprotected from his volatile nature.
In contrast, in the VincenSeo hockey scene both of them are wearing hockey gear, albeit without the helmets. This already shows that at the fundamental level this is a very different relationship, despite there still being a power imbalance. And the absence of the protection of a helmet also implies a level of trust, again in contrast to the way Han Seok had one, both to hide his identity but also to symbolize further distance. We see that Han Seo is at ease to the point where he feels comfortable enough to tease Vincenzo about Cha Young, and make quips/casual comments. Vincenzo is only mildly annoyed, and the atmosphere is far less charged than in the SeokSeo hockey scene. Most notably, even though Vincenzo does hit a puck at Han Seo, does trip him up, and does get annoyed at him, none of it carries the venom it does when Han Seok does it. It’s almost playful, it feels like something real siblings would do together (speaking from experience here), and Vincenzo is never hostile towards Han Seo. When Han Seok does things like that it doesn’t feel like sibling bickering, it feels like abuse. There is real malice in the way Han Seok treats Han Seo in general, and the hockey scene is no exception. So for Han Seo to be able to be in a space which he has always associated with pain/punishment and find himself at ease, not feeling threatened or worried, it must have meant a lot (which we see in the way he cant stop smiling after the hockey scene), and further serves to illustrate the difference in Han Seok and Vincenzo’s behaviour, right down to Vincenzo catching Han Seo when he falls, and Han Seo’s heartfelt thanks to him for helping him see how stupid he’d been.
It’s the same with all the other things he mentioned in the drinking scene. Eating scenes always say something about relationships in this drama (and in kdramas in general actually, but especially so here), and whenever we see Han Seo and Han Seok eating together, it always feels like Han Seo has to walk on eggshells, he can never relax or let his guard down, because he has to worry about Han Seok’s potential outbursts. Like in the scene where Han Seok flips the table and forces Han Seo to hold a knife to his neck, or the scene where they drink together after paying respects to their father. That scene was notable because it’s the scene where we find out that Han Seok killed their father. Han Seo asks Han Seok outright if he’d kill him off too if he got in his way. It’s one of the few times early on that he lets his perceptiveness show in front of Han Seok. Han Seok’s response is not reassuring at all, and he even goes as far as to belittle Han Seo's intelligence, stating that if he was just a little smarter he would have been nicer to him. This is again contrasted by Vincenzo encouraging Han Seo to learn more, and telling him that the mind is one's greatest weapon.
Han Seok's response also makes Vincenzo finally replying that he won’t kill Han Seo because he believes he’s changing for the better all the more impactful. With Han Seok it was always he won’t kill me so long as I am of use, because he needs me to take the fall for him, but with Vincenzo it’s now he won’t kill me because he sees value in me as a person and not a tool. We see this in how Vincenzo gives Han Seo advice, and complements him, albeit in a very roundabout way. I think despite his generally neutral face during their interactions, Han Seo is definitely growing on him. It’s even to the point that he allowed Han Seo to call him hyung, and even beyond that, to see him as a brother. I definitely think both of them need more time to grow as people and learn to relate to each other before this can actually be a proper brotherhood, but you have to start somewhere.
For the first time Han Seo is in an environment where he can let his guard down and confide in someone who is both a role model and a friend to him, even if that person is Vincenzo ‘i can’t ever show my emotional investment’ Cassano (though he has really come a long way since the beginning of the drama). Vincenzo represents all the things Han Seok never did for Han Seo as a brother, whether it’s giving him advice or letting him treat him with familiarity. Which is also an important contrast, that Han Seo calls Vincenzo Vin-hyung from the get go, while he mostly calls Han Seok hyungnim. The fact that Han Seo felt comfortable enough to ask Vincenzo if he could call him like a brother, sulk about it when he said no (”Ok Vincenzo Cassano nim” lol, no one can convince me that Han Seo isn’t a sass master), and then go directly to abbreviating Vincenzo’s name (Vin hyung) really tells us a lot about how much more comfortable he is with Vincenzo.
It is also worth noting that even though Vincenzo is often snarky with Han Seo, their interactions still carry some level of comfort that is completely absent in Han Seok and Han Seo’s scenes, despite the fact that when Han Seok is not being violent he actually treats Han Seo normally (well as ‘normal’ as it can get for them), like when he gives him the watch, when Han Seo is watching him get his hair cut, or when they go hunting. But despite the veneer of that normalcy, their interactions always carry an undercurrent of danger, as we and Han Seo all know that anything could cause Han Seok to explode, like he did in the scene where they were eating together, quite suddenly and very aggressively. That underlying tension is always there, even when Han Seo is seemingly smiling and reacting well to Han Seok, because we know that Han Seok is only tolerating Han Seo because he is of use to him, and will not hesitate to hurt him if he annoys him, or get rid off him should he cross him or cease to be of use. Whereas with Vincenzo, Han Seo is at ease. There is no hidden danger, no fear of an outburst. Vincenzo is someone Han Seo looks up to and feels he can trust enough to go behind Babel team’s backs to collude with. This also highlights once again the way that even Vincenzo's emotionally limited treatment of others contrasts Han Seok's complete disregard for them. He never yells at Han Seo or belittles him in a cruel way, and increasingly their interactions are more casual. Though he's still a bit closed off, Vincenzo also listens to what Han Seo has to say, unlike with Han Seok, where Han Seo can never say what he really thinks.
Lastly, there’s the influence that both Han Seok and Vincenzo have on the way Han Seo behaves. We see that whether he realized it or not, Han Seo imitated and was influenced by some of Han Seok’s behaviour, from hitting hockey pucks at executives (and bullying the executives in general, most likely to feel more powerful), to throwing tantrums/having fits of anger and yelling, ordering a hit on Vincenzo and Cha Young and finding the Babel victims’ information. Likewise, we see that once he decides he’s jumping off that train and siding with Vincenzo, we gradually begin to see his behaviour change. He’s always had a playful/bratty streak, seen in how he was so happy about dodging the thing Han Seok threw at him that one time, in many of his interactions with Mr Han, and in the scene when he comes to Jipuragi in 80s clothes to show off his battle scar. That side of him still manages to appear even around Han Seok, so when he’s around Vincenzo and he doesn’t have to focus on avoiding Han Seok’s outbursts it comes out fully, and we get things like him distracting Vincenzo by calling out Cha Young’s name to score a goal, grinning like a little kid when Vincenzo chased him, and his joy at getting to call Vincenzo Vin hyung.
Additionally, we see that the more closely Han Seo works with Vincenzo, the more brazen he gets around Han Seok. He gets more flippant, and he almost openly praises Vincenzo, he becomes less obedient to Han Seok. All this culminates in the scene where he confronts Han Seok about the Elizabeth Holmes thing and tightens his handcuffs. By finding a role model in Vincenzo, as well as knowing he has the support of someone more powerful than Han Seok, Han Seo was able to finally cut off the puppet strings. We even see that he consulted with and listened to the board/company executives, contrasted to how he’d forced them to eat spicy food and hit hockey pucks at them before. He’s unlearning the volatile and violent behaviour he picked up from Han Seok and applying the advice that Vincenzo gave him, namely that your brain is your greatest weapon. Han Seok always seemed like a dangerous villain because of his violent tendencies and his position of power and influence, but we’ve seen how Vincenzo manages to corner him again and again, and how his irrational actions (coughcoughkillingmrsohcoughcough) are no match for Vincenzo’s strategic thinking. Han Seo sees this as well, and he begins to emulate Vincenzo’s behaviour.
Vincenzo is right that Han Seo is changing for the better, and he is most likely the catalyst for it. We see that from the get go Han Seo is determined to break free, and in the end what gets him there while making sure he doesn’t simply become an ineffective chairman or Han Seok II (with arguably less murder lol) is the appearance of Vincenzo as a reliable brother figure. Now whether or not Vincenzo is actually a good brother figure is a different debate, and I do think he also needs to develop in the area of relating to others before he can truly fulfill the role. Still, so far his influence on Han Seo has been largely positive, and I think given time Han Seo will probably also have a positive effect on him.
In conclusion, if they kill off Han Seo in the end it will be my villain origin story. Thanks for reading! Do share any thoughts/additions!
The cold concrete of the warehouse made your skin sting, nipping at the exposed flesh despite the nearly-impermeable humidity that blanketed the air.
You couldn’t force yourself to move, staring idly at the mind flayer that laid just feet from you as you thought of what occurred between you and Jonathan earlier in the night.
You knew it was wrong, it was stupid and impulsive and damaging. And it wasn’t you. If you were in your right mind, you never would’ve even gotten close to kissing him. You would’ve never betrayed Nancy.
Maybe it was a good thing that the creature took over when it did. If it didn’t, you truly couldn’t imagine what else would have taken place.
The creature lifted its head slightly as you thought of it, reminiscent of a dog that heard the crinkling of a wrapper. A mutant, rotting dog that made you nauseous whenever you looked at it. But now, staring at it was the only thing that kept you grounded, keeping you in the horrifying reality that you were unfortunately living in.
It was moments like these, your mind caught in a loop of morbid curiosity, that you wished you had El’s powers. The ability to look into people’s lives without anyone else being aware of it. You just wanted, for a moment, to check on Jonathan and make sure he was okay. Though, you couldn’t decide if you wanted to stay away to keep him safe or if you wanted to keep yourself safe.
As the creature settled back onto the ground, you let out a huff and silently cursed yourself for getting into this situation (well, whatever this situation was).
“Are you positive?” Nancy questioned, everyone eyeing Jonathan worriedly.
After coming to the conclusion that Billy’s surge of power was linked with what Nancy saw happen to Mrs. Driscoll that same night, Jonathan had realized that what happened with you also fell into that same time period and also sounded extremely similar. He debated bringing it up at all, but knowing that this put so many people at risk, he spoke about it.
He explained to everyone what happened with you last night (minus the kiss, for obvious reasons), claiming that you seemed normal until you just... weren’t. He also noted the black veins that were present on Billy and Mrs. Driscoll as well, another thing that held many similarities to Will’s case last year.
“Yes, I’m positive,” Jonathan responded, crossing his arms over his chest.
“Did she feel cold?” Mike asked, his brows furrowing.
Jonathan froze for a moment, panicking at the question’s possible insinuation. He thought back to the night before, feeling your lips against his and the gentle touch of your fingers on the back of his neck. He didn’t remember you feeling cold, but at the same time, he wasn’t really focused on the temperature of your skin when it was pressed on his.
He shook his head and shrugged. “I-I don’t know. Like I said, she seemed normal. And she was wearing a sweater and jeans, too.”
This made Max look at his confusedly. “Why would she be wearing a sweater and jeans in the middle of summer?” she pondered. “Especially if she’s one of the flayed, she’d want to stay as cool as possible.”
Nancy gnawed on her bottom lip as she thought. “She knows how we got the mind flayer out of Will,” Nancy began. “Do you think... She’s trying to sweat it out?”
Again, Jonathan shrugged. “Whatever it is, we need to find her and get this thing out of her. Out of all of them.”
***
The search for you, Billy, and Heather had led the group to the Holloway house. After walking through the hallway and into the kitchen, they stumbled upon a slew of cleaning products and other chemicals scattered along the surfaces, the containers crushed as if they were emptied hastily.
As everyone discussed the possibility of the flayed consuming these chemicals to make a new substance within themselves, Jonathan’s mind once again wandered back to the previous night. There was no way that the same Y/N who ate ice cream with him less than 24 hours ago had also ingested copious amounts of cleaning products. It just didn’t make sense to him.
He didn’t have much time to think about it, though, as Nancy led the group through the dining room and into the living room. She glanced at the wine bottle that was discarded on the floor before kneeling down in front of a puddle of a red substance. “Blood,” she whispered, glancing over at Jonathan when he knelt beside her. “Yesterday, Tom had a bandage on his forehead.”
As Jonathan watched Nancy slowly pick up the blood-stained wine bottle, he was struggling to wrap his mind around the fact that you hurt someone, or at least assisted someone in doing so.
“He was attacked,” Nancy continued. Nancy began to walk, following the trail of drag marks and disturbed rugs that led to the garage where a pile of rope laid. “They must have tied them. They must have taken them somewhere.” Nancy stood silently, thinking for a moment. Mrs. Driscoll, she kept saying ‘I have to go back.’ What if the flaying, it’s taking place somewhere else. There must be a place where this all started, right? A source.”
“Somewhere he didn’t want me to see,” El added.
“If we can find the source, then maybe we can stop them. Or at least stop it from spreading, or whatever the hell they’re doing with those chemicals.”
“How do we find it?”
“Mrs. Driscoll,” Will spoke. “If she wants to go back so badly, why don’t we let her?”
“Okay, but this doesn’t make sense,” Jonathan argued, unable to pull his eyes from the rope that laid at his feet. “Y/N wouldn’t be able to hurt someone, let alone tie them up and drag them god-knows-where.”
“Jonathan, this isn’t Y/N,” Nancy argued.
He huffed. “Last night, when she changed, I tried to stop her from leaving because I was worried. I-I didn’t know what to do, but I knew I needed to help her, so I grabbed her arm.” He gulped. “She begged me to let her go. She said that she didn’t want to hurt me.”
A silence fell over the whole group as his words sunk in.
“Maybe she can control herself around you. But around other people, she can’t keep the flayer from taking over,” Nancy spoke finally, reaching out and touching his shoulder. “But you’re her weakness. And that’s gonna help us a lot.”
***
Silently watching Mrs. Driscoll’s body melt and condense into a meaty mush made you want to retch, but your body stood stock still as the lump inched from the room and down into the pipes. Once the mass disappeared from sight, you wandered out of the room, down the hall, and out into the stairwell, aimlessly walking down the stairs to pass time as you waited for whatever task the mind flayer would assign you next.
For once, you wish you were working at the pool, boiling under the scorching July sun. At least you’d have something to do.
Those thoughts left as soon as they came, however, when that strong fog began to flood your mind, your body switching onto autopilot as your feet led you onto the second floor.
A sharp pain stabbed through the right side of your head as you were about to turn the corner, doubling over in pain and clutching your head as you heard quick footsteps coming down the stairs. Immediately, you straightened up and jogged down the hallway, grabbing a pair of scissors from a nurse’s station before rushing into the wing of the hospital that was under construction and slipping into a room.
You heard the heavy footfalls sprint past your door, followed by another flayed that stalked slowly behind them. You stepped out of the room and walked beside him, tightly clutching the pair of scissors in your hand as the lights flickered around you.
The man beside you led you both over to a locked door, two voices echoing through the door. You nodded your head at the door and he slammed his fist through the glass, screams sounding from the two within the room as he peeked his head in before undoing the lock. As he pulled the door open, you stepped inside, a sinister grin on your face.
But that grin immediately fell when you saw who exactly was behind the door.
The man pushed past you, disregarding your clear shock as he threatened Nancy in a sing-song voice. Jonathan, who clearly was also reeling with shock but shoved it down, stepped forward and pulled his fist back, ready to attack the man. the man’s hand shot out and grabbed onto Jonathan’s neck, choking Jonathan and shoving Nancy away with his free hand.
The flayer’s control faded from your mind and you took advantage of it, hurrying over to Nancy and trying to help her up. “Y/N?” she coughed out, her eyes wide with fear.
“You have to go,” you forced out, using as much strength as you could muster to pull her to her feet while also fighting to keep your consciousness.
Behind you, you heard a groan of pain coming from Jonathan, and you and Nancy turned to look just in time to see the man slam a metal stool down on Jonathan’s back.
Nancy finally got onto her feet and you threw your scissors to the ground when you felt the flayer’s control slowly start to seep back into you. Through blurry vision, you watched Nancy take the scissors you discarded and embed them into the back of the man.
You and the man hunched over, and you let out a groan of pain as he pulled the scissors from his back. The man cursed at her, quickly regaining his composure and stalking over to her.
“Run!” you and Jonathan screamed at her, and you waited until she had led the man out of the room to go run over to Jonathan and help him.
"Jonathan,” you whispered, crouching down next to him and gently resting your hand on his back. “Are you okay?”
He gasped in pain, turning his head to look up at you. “What’s going on? How are you-” he began before you shook your head.
“I don’t know. Come on, let’s get you up.” You pulled the stool over to him and he gripped onto it, lifting his upper half up with all his might.
Moments later, the stool fell from his grip, Tom menacingly grinning down at the two of you. “Where are you going?” he hummed, nudging you to the side so he could pick Jonathan up by his shirt.
“Let him go!” you screeched, stumbling to your feet.
Tom held Jonathan by the collar of his shirt, locking eyes with him before glancing back at you. “Let him go? Sure.” He picked Jonathan up and threw him into the lockers, Jonathan’s body falling to the linoleum floor a moment later. Tom picked him up once more and threw his body into a cart, letting his body crumple to the ground.
You watched in horror as Jonathan crawled along the floor towards the pair of scissors, your whole body exhausted from all the strength it was taking to keep the monster at bay. Tom knelt beside Jonathan and grabbing him by the hair, lifting his face from the ground before slamming it down.
Once Jonathan finally fell unconscious, if only for a few moments, Tom grabbed the scissors and lifted them over his head.
“I’m in control of you! Stop!” you screamed, allowing the creature to take hold, black veins snaking up your face and arms. “Leave him alone.”
Tom turned to you, the scissors still held above his head. Tears streaked down your face as you glanced down at Jonathan, your vision slowly going dark.
However, before the creature fully took hold, a harsh pain cracked across your face, making you cry out in pain. You clutched your nose and watched Tom stumble away, only for the two of you to be tossed around by another strong force.
Jonathan and Tom both scrambled to their feet, the scissors held tightly in Jonathan’s hand. Jonathan hesitated though, looking down at you on the floor. He had realized that whatever happened to one of the flayed was felt by all of them, and that meant that whatever he did to Tom, you would feel as well.
“Do it,” you gasped out, rising to your feet with the gracefulness of a newborn fawn.
“I don’t want to hurt-” Jonathan stuttered.
“Do it!” you screamed.
Tom lunged at him, and Jonathan plunged the scissors into Tom’s throat. Both you and Tom let out a ghastly gasp/moan of pain as you collapsed onto the floor.
As the lights continued to flicker overhead, Jonathan rushed over to you and turned you onto your back, clutching you in his arms.
Your eyes searched his, both of your chests heaving with ragged pants while you both silently communicated to each other.
“You need to go, I can’t control it anymore,” you choked out before rolling out of his arms and crawled over to Tom’s body. The two of you silently watched as Tom’s body began to convulse and turn to that all-too-familiar mush (well, familiar to you, at least). Jonathan let out a gasp of horror, though his eyebrows furrowed in slight confusion when your body didn’t do the same.
He realized then that his theory was right. You were different than all of the other flayers. On one hand, he was relieved because he knew it was truly you. On the other hand, though, it horrified him that it was you who committed all of these horrible acts. That, and the fact that you somehow had control over these creatures truly made his skin crawl.
He realized he didn’t have much time to dwell on it because the strange mush of blood and meat and bones slowly began to inch out of the room the same time that your eyes fluttered closed. He contemplated staying to check on you, but decided against it after a moment, instead following behind the disgusting mass.
A strange sense of calm washed over him when he saw Nancy standing at the other end of the hallway, following her own strange substance. Silently, the two masses led the two teens down the hallway, joining together in the middle and morphing into something even more sinister.
jaskier is a feral bastard who can secretly fight
this has been done 5000 times but i love this trope ok?? this is so self indulgent and i am so sorry for how incoherent and messy it is but !! here have some feral bamf jaskier and geralt who puts up with his bard’s bullshit
jaskier secretly takes fighting lessons during the winters when geralt is in kaer morhen and whenever they’re separated
yes, he’s travelling with a witcher so he should know how to defend himself
but the main reason learns to fight is because that boy is Feral
the first time someone called geralt butcher after they started travelling together, jaskier tried to fight them but ended up with a broken nose
that day he resolved to learn to properly throw a punch so he could be Fighty when people started insulting insulting geralt
(not that he needed to, or that he thought geralt couldn’t do it himself. the problem was that geralt wouldn’t and jaskier hated the resigned look on geralt’s face, hated that he was willing to bear the hate, hated that he even had to)
also he didn’t want to embarrass himself by breaking his own finger when punching an arsehole drunk
he’s a bard and people know him, he can’t just humiliate himself like that ok
hence the lessons
he doesn’t go to geralt because that man is too hot and he doesn’t need to be getting hot and bothered while geralt corrects his positions in close proximity
he’s surprisingly good at it and his instructors are slightly intimidated by how determined and utterly feral he is
‘jaskier maybe... tone that down a little’
jaskier, baring his teeth: N O
a few years after they meet, geralt realises that the times when geralt used to return to jaskier being raided by bandits (which happened all the time because jaskier doesn’t have an inside voice and bandits always hear him) have lessened
he doesn’t think anything of it and thinks that jaskier must have learnt discretion
there’s sometimes a faint scent of blood around jaskier when he returns to camp but he figures that idiot had a nosebleed or pricked his finger on his lute or something stupid
(jaskier drove off the bandits. he may have threatened to cut off their balls and somehow the bandits were terrified of a seemingly harmless bard because of the Look in his eyes)
it’s also the only reason why jaskier hasn’t been killed in bar fights yet because now he can actually hold his own
geralt still has to drag him out not to protect jaskier, but to protect the dumb people who went up against him
geralt has learnt to recognise the stabby murdery look in jaskier’s eyes
he still doesn’t realise that jaskier can actually fight, just thinks that he’s been in way too many brawls and has picked up a thing or two
jaskier has many hidden knives and daggers on his body. his doublets and trousers have secret pockets/hidden sheathes
geralt thinks he only has one dagger. jaskier continues to let him think that
one day they’re ambushed by a band of soldiers who want to capture geralt for a noble as a ‘trophy’ of sorts
they converge in on geralt, who yells at jaskier to get back
but being a contrary stubborn idiot jaskier obviously doesn’t
when a soldier lunges at jaskier, thinking he’ll be an easy target, he gets stabbed in his stomach for his troubles
jaskier brandishes a bloodied dagger at the shocked soldiers and grins
‘anyone else want a taste of this?’
but since the soldiers are idiots they charge jaskier
geralt is terrified for jaskier but he’s fighting off a few soldiers of his own and can’t help jaskier
fuck he can’t let down his bard. he needs to protect him.
but then jaskier holds his own
once geralt has cut down the men he’s fighting, he immediately turns to check on jaskier but realises that all the soldiers are down or dead
there’s a pile of dead bodies at jaskier’s feet and a bunch of bloodied knives
jaskier is beaming
‘that was fun! they weren’t very good though, that noble is an idiot if they thought a band of soldiers could take you!’
geralt is shook because since when could his bard fight
he’s also slightly turned on because wow apparently he has a thing for competent people who have a thing for violence
(he knew that already from yennefer and from jaskier’s bar fights but this is a whole new level)
while geralt is busy trying to process this new information, jaskier is picking up his knives and hiding them in increasingly impossible places, all while complaining about all the blood, it’s going to be a pain in the arse to wash, geralt, this is so inconvenient
geralt ignores him because he sees jaskier put a knife down his trousers and his brain short-circuits a bit. the last brain cell flees to god knows where
why would he do that. why. geralt is having a minor internal crisis
but jaskier just grins like everything is normal
and geralt can’t stand it so he kind of jumps him
from then on geralt lets jaskier come along on more on his hunts
but he also keeps a much closer eye on him in taverns now that he knows jaskier is actually capable of killing a man
once they get their shit together geralt offers to train jaskier and spar with him
needless to say they don’t get much training done
#geraskier#jaskier#geralt of rivia#the witcher#geraskier headcanon#the witcher headcanons#feral jaskier#bamf jaskier#look im just a huge fan of jaskier being a badass who can take care of himself#and also geralt being stunned at his secret badassery#jaskier is also lowkey bloodthirsty and geralt is ok with that#yes im writing hcs when i need to write my fic but im feeling horrid about my fic so yh:)#i was gonna post over the weekend but i cant bring myself to post anything#mine*
Space Between [Aizawa Shouta x F!Reader x Yamada Hizashi] [2/9]
EraserMic x Reader
Part 2/8
Warnings: depictions of PTSD, one (1) mention of vomiting (nothing graphic), very brief mention of violence (also nothing graphic), your friends being concerned about you, hugs
You wake up the next morning with a very sore, very stiff neck. You appreciate your friends putting you up for a while, but between the two of them they had terrible taste in furniture. In fact, you’re pretty certain their couch is the same couch you three shared when you first got your own place together…
You sit up on the lumpy cushions, wincing when your spine crackles. When you move to stand you find that you can’t, held in place by previously unnoticed twin weights on your blanketed legs. Your heart rate speeds up for a moment, before you realize it’s just a pair of cats sleeping on you.
You carefully finagle your way out from under them, taking extra care not to rouse or wake them. One of them chirps and stretches, and you pause, but she quickly falls back to sleep, tucked up against her companion.
Once you’re free, you wander towards the kitchen to find something to eat. Hizashi had offered to order takeout last night, but you were nearly dead on your feet by the time you walked into the house. You’d gone straight to bed, and now you had to deal with the stomach cramps.
You search around in the pantry and fridge for a while, finding few things more than rice, bread, condiments, and a couple canned goods. It made sense, considering how busy your friends were, but it was also a little ridiculous.
“You’d think two grown men could handle some grocery shopping,” you mumble, and settle on some rice, eggs, and toast. Not your ideal breakfast, but it was better than nothing.
You prepare the rice and set a pan on the stove in a haze, still muddled with sleep. Once both are sufficiently rinsed and warming, you set the rice off to cook and plop down at the kitchen table, where you notice a folded paper sitting. With your name on it.
Curious, you flip it open, instantly recognizing Hizashi’s messy writing.
‘Sho and I had to head out early, but we didn’t want to wake you. You were tossing a lot in your sleep.’
You think briefly back to the dreams you’d had, if you’d even had any. You usually had nightmares, but oftentimes you didn’t remember them, only waking with a hollow and sinking feeling in your chest.
‘You’ve got free run of the place, so use and eat what you want. Be warned, there’s not a lot in the fridge…we don’t really eat at home much. If you need the internet, Sho’s laptop is in the office across from the bedroom. See you tonight around ten!
-H’
You smile at the note, the signature consisting of a single letter, with a poor rendition of a cockatiel and a cat beside it.
You’re glad they have each other, you decide, and glad they’ve gotten together. It shouldn’t have been so much of a surprise to you, Hizashi was always more interested in Shouta than he was you. Sure, he doted on you when you were kids, but when Shouta came into the picture his attention shifted. You admit you had been a little jealous in the beginning, but now…
Maybe you’d just supposed it would always be the three of you together. You’d never bothered with dating or relationships, aside from the feelings you harboured for your best friends. You never saw the point, always content and happy to be with the two of them, even if it wasn’t romantic. They had been your rocks, your safe place, in years past.
You hadn’t comprehended that your interests could be so drastically different.
“C’mon, shake it off, stupid. They’re happy together, don’t ruin it with your feelings.” You run your hands down your face, sighing deeply. The rice would be ready soon, so you might as well get started on the eggs.
You butter a piece of bread and cut a hole out of the center, dropping it in the frying pan and cracking an egg into it.
Egg In A Hole, one of the first things you’d ever learned to cook. You were seven when you’d first tried it, and Hizashi had been there as well. You’d been at your house after school and he’d claimed to be hungry, and you -ever wanting to impress him- had set a stool in front of the stove and made him the fanciest meal you could think of.
Looking back, you’re amazed you didn’t burn or undercook anything. He had claimed it was the most amazing thing he’d ever tasted, and for years it was a staple whenever you hung out… he’d hopped off that train by the time you were twelve, but every so often you’d still made him Eggs In A Hole.
Now it’s more of a comfort, more of you holding on to a time long passed. Things were different now, you were different, your friends were different-
“Shit!” you hiss, as the toast starts to burn in one corner, smoking up the kitchen. You turn the fan on and flip it over to cook the other side, sighing in relief when the egg doesn’t splatter everywhere.
You’re glad you weren’t sent undercover as a cook on your mission. Your skills in the kitchen are sub par at best, and where you’d been, nothing less than perfection was accepted. Anything burnt or under-seasoned would have been air for punishment; fingernails ripped off, palms cut up, thumbs broken. Anything that would further hinder work…and result in more punishment.
That was just the kind of person your target was. A rich american woman with a taste for torture, and a quirk that allowed her to feast on and destroy the hope in others. She had ‘hired’ you as a silent killer, despite the fact that she could easily kill people herself…or make them kill themselves.
You squeeze your eyes shut and take a deep breath, willing the thoughts away. You weren’t there anymore. You were here, with Hizashi, with Shouta. Safe. Safe.
You scoop the eggs and toast onto a plate, but your stomach has already turned. Memories didn’t pair well with breakfast, it seemed.
Once the rice is finished cooking, you wrap everything up and set it in the fridge for later, and continue going about your day.
—-
Ten PM rolls around before you know it, and your friends walk through the front door. You’ve stolen Shouta’s laptop from the office and moved it to the couch, where you now sit staring intensely at the screen.
The two of them watch you for a moment. If your stillness, posture, and bloodshot eyes are anything to go by, you’ve been like that for a while.
“You’re gonna hurt your back sitting like that,” Shouta says, kicking his boots off and wandering further into the house.
“In a second,” you reply, waving him off.
Hizashi sighs dramatically, crossing his arms. “She’s not even paying attention, Sho. We could be making out right now, and she wouldn’t even notice. Hey, watch this-”
“Hizashi,” you threaten, not looking away from the screen, “if you pull your pants down, I’ll shave your head while you sleep.”
“No fun.” But he removes his hands from his jeans anyways.
Shouta meanders up behind you, leaning over the back of the couch to see what you’re so intent on. “What’s got you so focused?” he asks, scanning the page you’re reading, “You were never like this in school.”
You remain stoic, missing the joke completely. “Conviction trials,” you explain, “I want to make sure every single one of those rich pricks I outed gets put behind bars. I’ve been scrounging news outlets since five.”
“And?”
“Nothing.” You sit up straighter, stretching your back and rubbing at your eyes. “I gave the commission enough information to put these people in prison for life! Why haven’t they been brought in yet!”
“You’ve only been out for a little while. These things take time.” His tone is gentle and concerned, but to your addled brain it feels more patronizing.
You fist your hair in your hands and tug. “I gave them hideouts, names, faces, addresses, bank numbers, concrete evidence against these people! A few days should be enough time to find them! They’re top priority criminals! They should be caught by now!”
A warm hand rests on your shoulder, jarring you violently out of your thoughts. You tense beneath the touch, electricity prickling down your arm, and you look up at him with wide eyes.
“Breathe,” he says.
You breathe.
He squeezes your shoulder slightly, comfortingly. “It’ll happen. Give the media time to catch up.”
You look away from him, finding a spot on the floor to stare at, and slump forward in defeat. “If it gets out that I was the snitch, too…”
The room is quiet for a couple beats as your words register, and the hand on your shoulder rubs soft circles into your skin. “Your partner…they were killed, weren’t they.” It’s not a question, merely an observation.
You nod.
“I can’t let them find me, Shouta. The way these people kill their targets-”
“You’re safe here, Y/N. Always. The chances of these criminals getting into the country undetected is between slim and none. Their faces will be plastered on every single no-fly list, every district wanted list.”
“They can do whatever they want, as long as they have the money.” You turn back to the laptop, continuing to scroll around various news outlets. “Even once they’re in prison, they’ll have outside connections. If they find out it was me who outed their whole operation, I’ll have a target on my back for the rest of my life.”
Shouta lets go of your shoulder, and walks around the couch to take a seat beside you, knees bumping against yours.
“There are…resources,” he begins, choosing his words carefully, “for heroes who’ve been undercover. To help them readjust to everyday life-”
“I don’t need a therapist,” you hiss, scowling. “I need…I need-”
A pair of hands scoops the laptop out of your grip, flipping it closed and setting it aside. But before you can complain, your now-warmed-up plate of food from that morning is set in your lap, and Hizashi takes a seat on your other side.
“If you don’t want a therapist, then at least take care of yourself, okay? Eat.”
Your scowl persists as you chew.
—-
You jolt awake on the couch at an unbeknownst hour of the morning, covered head to toe in a thin sheen of sweat. Your head is spinning and your ears are ringing, and you barely make it to the bathroom before you’re dry heaving into the sink. Nothing comes up, save for bitter bile, but you’re exhausted once the short wave of nausea passes.
You rinse your mouth and the sink out, and splash some water on your face. With any luck, you won’t have woken anyone, but when you exit the bathroom you nearly walk face first into Shouta, who’s leaning beside the door.
“It sounded like you were getting sick.” His tone isn’t accusing, but his posture puts your guard up.
“Nothing came out, so it’s fine.”
You wander back to the living room, hoping to leave the conversation, but he only follows.
“Why were you getting sick in the first place?”
“I dunno,” you grumble tensely, “adrenaline reaction maybe? Who’s to say why people puke.”
He’s quiet for several moments, observing you, your fidgeting, your agitation. You feel like you’re under a microscope, with the way he’s looking at you.
“What happened to you out there?” he asks.
“Stuff,” you mutter.
I got people killed.
“Stuff that gives you nightmares every time you sleep?”
“I don’t need a therapist.”
I don’t deserve to come back from this.
“Your sleep-yelling woke me up. You’re lucky Hizashi wears earplugs.”
You turn away from him and grab your water bottle off the coffee table, plopping grumpily onto the couch. Shouta hesitates for a moment before finding a seat beside you again. Warmth radiates off his body, which is pressed comfortingly against your side. You can feel the tension easing out of your shoulders in his presence.
“What’s so bad about therapists, anyways?” he asks, genuinely curious. “Lots of people need them. Hizashi and I have both seen a couple over the years.”
“I don’t need someone to tell me there’s something wrong with me.”
Shouta sighs. “That’s not what they do, and you know it. What’s the real reason?”
You silently curse his ability to read you like a book, to always somehow know when you’re lying. But…you’re not sure you could tell him the truth.
“I just…don’t like the idea, okay? Leave it at that.”
He watches you silently, searching in your averted gaze for any willingness to open up, but he finds only sadness…and shame. “I should head back to bed, then. Early morning, and whatnot. Try and get some more sleep.”
He rises off the couch, and without thinking you follow suit, and quickly envelope him in a hug.
“I’m sorry,” you sniffle, burying your face in his chest. He’s surprised for a moment, but is quick to wrap his arms around you, holding you tight while you tremble against him.
He pats small circles into you back, keeping you close until your breathing begins to even out. “Just…don’t let this go on for too long, okay?” It’s the closest you’ve ever heard him to begging, “I don’t know what happened to you out there, but you’re obviously suffering.”
You pull away slightly, tired and defeated, and nod. “I’ll look into it. Those resources you mentioned. Okay?”
You release each other fully, and he gives you one last pat to the head.
“Okay. Now, really, try and get some more sleep.”
***
Levi doesn’t come by often. But when he does, he turns heads every time. And he stays for hours whenever he has the chance to. It goes on like this for a few weeks- him arriving late at night or the early evening. And staying until past closure. Just to get a glimpse of you. A chance to talk to you.
He never once denied himself of that reprieve. He won’t deny to himself that he likes you, that he enjoys your presence. This life within these three walls is too short to pretend and to deny himself of those small joys.
You talk about everything, and nothing. Lately, he’s taken to daydreaming about your lips when he can’t sleep. His thoughts flit to your scars, the one on your forehead and the one on your clavicle. It’s not the first time he’s wondered if you carry any other scars.
Levi wonders if you’d ever let him see them. He wonders if he’d ever show you his own scars.
He sits at his usual table in the back, rubbing his hand over his face tiredly. Can you see how tired he is? He hopes not. Those shitty kids, the shitty titans, and even shitty Erwin will be the death of him.
If you heard him say that, you’d tease him and tell him that he’s saying that out of love. To which he would scoff.
Today, he expects to see your usual smile and the teasing glint in your dark eyes. But instead, he’s met with a frown and lines of irritation fracturing the planes of your pretty face. It looks out of place on you. In fact, you’re gripping the pitcher in your hands too tightly and even Misaki is looking at you warily. Your eyes are steely as you watch a group of men at the other end of the bar.
They’re MP’s. No wonder you look so displeased.
“Aww, come on,” One of them jeers at you, “Give us a smile, won’t ya?”
You so desperately want to turn them away. But money is money, and if there’s anything the Underground taught you… it’s to grin and bear it. Even when all you want to do is scream. Normally, you’d play along. To rake some extra coins from them. But not today. Because this one- he’s one of the MP’s you’d known quite closely in the Underground. He would roam where you lived late at night, you’d hear the commotion and the ruckus that came along with his arrival.
You’re disappointed that he’s still alive.
His hair is greying, wrinkles around the corner of his eyes. But he’s very much alive and well. Alive enough to be throwing back your precious liquor like it’s water.
You hate him, you hate that you’ve known him since you were nineteen, and you hate that he still has this hold on you. That you can’t just kick him out and be done with it.
He knows it and you know it. He comes by every few months, whenever he feels like torturing you with his face. Whenever he feels like toying with you, reminding you of what you had left in the Underground. Or rather, what you had ran away from.
You hold your head high around Roz, the way you always have. Even if he smirks at you like he knows your secrets, which he does, you ignore him. The way you always have.
You’re usually much better at pushing the bitter memories to the side. But tonight, they threaten to spill out spitefully. Memories of shared sheets, sweaty skin and unkept promises. And then a face, a face you think about every day, a pretty face that makes your heart leap and ache at the same time.
The face of your friend, of your dead lover. Liya.
When you see him, you see her. You see her stained, dead eyes, her cold skin, her lifeless arms. Her neck bleeding out in your frozen arms, your tears mixing with her blood.
It was a long time ago. It was a long time ago that you had gotten involved with the wrong crowd- specifically, with Roz- and gotten her killed. The bitter pill of regret dies on your tongue but you push it away.
You were foolish. She had been your partner in every sense of the word. She was the one who had discovered the secret to earthwater. Earthwater was her creation, and she wasn’t even here to reap the benefits.
The two of you had had an idea. Liya brought it to life. She had figured out how to proof alcohol and distill sugar and starch to create the perfect blend. You were thieves in the night, stealing every bit of raw material as you could to bring your dream to life.
Your makeshift brewery was in the corner of your attic in the small apartment (if you could even call it that) that you shared with Liya. It had taken about seven months of meticulous experimenting to create something that you both believed in.
It was worth it though. To see her smile so full of hope, shining in a way you’ve never seen her shine before.
“People will do anything for booze,” She said confidently, her eyes glinting, “We’ll turn over a profit in no time.”
“Even if we don’t… The memories we made along the way were worth it,” You giggle.
“Shut up, memories won’t get us out of this shithole,” Liya snorts derisively.
The version of earthwater that you both had concocted isn’t identical to what you currently brew and sell in your bar. It was a primitive version, not as tasty or flavorful. But still, it was impressive enough that it had caught the ears and eyes of your little neighborhood. And then word spread further and further. Until you and Liya had enough money to invest a little more in your little slice of magic.
Your little attic operation took off rather quickly. You had wanted to buy a nicer place to live in, but Liya had told you to look at the big picture.
To think about the sun. To think about how the sun would feel once you both saved up enough to get out.
Pretty soon, earthwater had attracted the likes of the MP’s to your corner of the Underground. You gave them free samples, just enough to entice them. And then, of course, you charged them extra for your booze.
You were happy with what you had. Creating something with the love of your life. Scamming the shitty MP’s. Providing something fun in a place where the sun didn’t even shine. Liya wanted more though. She wanted the sun.
Sometimes you wondered if she wanted it more than she wanted you. She reassured you though, when her head was in between your thighs, that that wasn’t the case. And you believed her.
And then Roz came along. With his false promises that fed into your naivete so nicely, like it belonged.
You would give Liya anything to fulfill her dream. Even if that meant giving up yourself. He had promised you money, so much money. A chance at leaving this hellhole. A chance at a full belly and a good night’s sleep. A chance of not having to be on edge all the time. A chance at a happy life with a girl that was supposed to be your soulmate.
And then Roz was demanding more of you. Liya didn’t even know- all she knew was that you were returning home later and later at night, with tired eyes and blooming bruises. She wasn’t stupid. She had put the pieces together before you could even confess to her.
“You’ll get yourself killed!” She screams. Certainly loud enough that the windows rattle. You wince.
“I know what I’m doing!” You say stubbornly, “We almost have enough money to get out! That’s what you wanted!”
“What I wanted?!” Liya protests, voice reaching a fever pitch, “I didn’t want you to prostitute yourself to the fuckin’ MP’s so we could get out!
“It’s just the one-”
“As if that makes it any better! How are we having this conversation!”
“It’s just Roz-”
“Just Roz! Do you know how many girls have gone missing here after meeting him? Everyone here knows Roz! God, you’re so stupid,” Liya begs, eyes filling with tears.
In the end, she was right. You had gotten yourself killed, at least a part of you. In the end, you had rebuffed Roz after that and he had retaliated by slitting Liya’s throat when you weren’t home. Like a coward. You had found her in your bedroom, the sheets dark and stained with her blood.
Everyone in the vicinity could hear your cries and your broken, raw screams that night and for the next few nights.
There had never been any evidence that it had been Roz. Liya was a nobody in the Underground, and so were you. But you knew it was him. And he knew that you knew.
You spent months torturing yourself by keeping all of her things in your bedroom, sleeping on her side of the bed. Until you saw Roz again and you knew that there was nothing holding you at home. You vomited the next time you saw Roz, and the feeling never quite goes away even now.
You needed to get out, and it burned like an itch. And ironically, when you pooled together your money with Liya’s, you had almost as much as you needed to buy your way out. It was only a matter of months.
Your train of thought is interrupted by Roz. Seeing him traps you back into a version of yourself that you don’t think of often. There was no point to thinking so much about it- if you dwelled on your decisions when you were younger, you would get wrapped up in this vortex of guilt. You knew that. But damn, Roz always had a way of getting under your skin.
It’s a shame. That he’s still alive, and Liya isn’t.
His words are garbled in your ears and it takes you a few seconds to realize what he’s saying. You cast a glance over to his table and a sense of dread fills you. He’s alone now- his party has left him. Most likely because he was drunk and being irredeemably stupid.
Goosebumps rise on your skin. Words bubble in your throat, words you’ve never had a chance to say. You want to cut him, cut him right where it hurts…
Instead nothing comes out of your mouth. He derisively laughs at you and your silence. Misaki clears her throat, about to say something when Roz’s eyes slide over to lazily take her in.
The world tilts on its axis a little bit when his mouth opens.
“Who’s this?” He sneers, light eyes flashing at Misaki, “She looks so much like her… Like your Liya-”
Your heart thumps erratically out of your chest and your face is warm. Before you realize what you’re doing, you’re on your feet and your knee connects with his chest. He falls back in his chair to the ground with a thump. Roz only looks at you with a knowing smirk and your hand latches around his neck.
You must look wild. You feel wild. You feel the pent up fire of nearly ten years burning through your veins and you finally succumb to it.
“This feels familiar-”
“I should’ve fuckin’ killed you all those years ago,” You scream, your chest heaving and your hands shaking, “Don’t fuckin’ look at her. Keep Liya’s name out of your fuckin’ mouth-”
“Killin’ me wouldn’t have brought her back-”
“No, but it woulda been so fuckin’ sweet,” You grin with the taste of blood in your mouth.
“Not as sweet as you-”
And then you draw your hand back and punch him. Your ears are ringing, you don’t hear Misaki screaming, you don’t feel your right hand starting to throb or feel your knuckles splitting. You only feel rage wash over you and turn into numbness.
Tears are falling fast and heavy down your face and your eyes are blurry. Suddenly, you feel a pair of arms circle around you and yank you off of Roz. One last look at his bloody face and crooked grin does nothing to calm the sudden hysteria rising in your chest and blooming from your lips.
“Get out! Get out!” You scream repeatedly, and you’re not sure who you’re screaming at. There’s nobody here. Nobody but you and Misaki.
And the person holding you close. You whip your head around to rip yourself out of the person’s arms to break your other fist into Roz’s face. With wide eyes, you realize that it’s Levi holding you back. You know him well enough to see lines of concern and confusion dotting his steely eyes.
“Stop,” Levi murmurs in your ear, “Relax. Stay with Misaki, I’ll get rid of him.”
Misaki steps closer to you, something unwavering in her gaze. And she holds your hand, squeezing tightly and taking you to the backroom to get you some water. And have you sit down.
You hold your head in your hands and squeeze your eyes shut. Misaki holds your hands and kneels in front of you, getting you to breathe with her.
Levi drags the man with a broken nose out of your bar, allowing Roz’s head to hit the door frame with a soft crack on his way out. Roz groans but Levi pays him no mind.
“I’ve met scum like you before,” Levi says lightly when he dumps him in a dark alleyway.
Roz looks up at him, eyes flashing in recognition. But Levi just scoffs at him and turns his back, heading in the direction of the Silver Sapphire.
***
“Go home Misaki,” You sigh, “I’m a mess. Stay home tomorrow, I’ll probably keep the bar closed.”
“I’m not leaving you alone,” Misaki says indignantly and gently cleans your split knuckles with a wet cloth.
You hardly even feel it. All you feel is the quiet ache of your heart from being closed off for this long. Maybe you should have handled Roz all those years ago. Would it have helped?
Levi finds you and Misaki in the supply closet. You’re sitting on a crate, your eyes dazed and Misaki is kneeling in front of you. She murmurs words of comfort to you but you’re not listening. Levi doesn’t know who that guy was or why it sent you into such a rage, but he can read in between the lines.
“Thanks,” You mumble, finally raising your eyes to meet his stare, “For getting rid of Roz.”
“That’s his name? What a stupid name,” Levi says lightly and you snort.
“Misaki. Go home,” You urge quietly, “I’m sorry you had to see any of that.”
She looks at you and then at Levi unsurely. Her green eyes scrutinize Levi for a moment longer, trying to decide if she trusts you with him. With softened eyes, she nods and tells you to rest up before heading out with her bag.
Levi rolls his sleeves up and pulls up a crate to sit on in front of you. He gestures for you to give him your right hand. Against your brown skin, your knuckles are split a bright, brilliant red.
He gets up abruptly to wash his hands before inspecting your hand further, and to look for medicine and gauze.
“Bottom left shelf,” You murmur.
“Where’d you learn to punch like that,” Levi muses, sitting in front of you with the cleaning solution, ointment and gauze next to him.
“The Underground,” You mutter, “Like you.”
Levi bristles wordlessly. Your words solidify an already existing suspicion of his. Levi motions for you to give him your hand and you wince as his fingers brush over your throbbing knuckles. Despite the pain, heat blooms in your chest at his sudden but soft touch. His hands are rough like yours, but still gentle.
“This will burn. I’m cleaning it to make sure it doesn’t get infected,” Levi says.
“No shit, I know how to clean wounds,” You scoff. Levi gives you an unimpressed look that you return.
“Congratulations,” He says dryly.
You barely react when he lightly dabs the cleaning solution on your knuckles. Levi wonders how much of this is muscle memory to you. The pads of his thumbs press into the back of your hand, almost soothing you. He’s quiet as he works, concentration folded into the creases of his handsome face.
“You’re not going to ask me what happened?” You ask tersely.
“If you want to tell me, you will,” Levi shrugs. He’ll never press you to share more than what you are comfortable with.
An anvil sits on your chest, filled with pain that you’ve spent a long time convincing yourself was gone. If anyone can understand the pain that comes from the Underground, it’s Levi.
“I had a friend. She was brilliant…”
And so you peel your lips open and tell him of your sinister love story cut short by your own stubbornness. You tell him about Liya, about Roz never leaving you alone, about finding Liya dead in your bed.
You say it so swiftly, so factually that Levi wonders if you even realize what you’re saying. Your bottom lip is bitten as you look at him sadly, with guilt written in your eyes.
“You did what you thought was best at the time,” Levi murmurs, his voice quiet but firm, “Don’t taint her memory with your guilt and regret.”
“How can I not? This was her dream,” You reply, your own voice sounding far away to your ears.
“So honor her dream,” Levi says simply, “And honor yourself.”
Your eyes widen and his words immediately make you halt the spiral downward. His silver eyes are disarming, almost seeing through you as if you were transparent. But then you realize, he’s not seeing through you… He’s looking at you as if you were a mirror.
Levi pulls his eyes away from yours and gingerly continues to wrap your hand with gauze. His touches are fleeting and familiar. It makes your heart jump erratically, and how ironic that you were in the same place when he had so awkwardly cleaned your face up… All those days and weeks ago.
Something new blooms in your chest, mixing with the heat and adrenaline already pounding through your blood. It’s been a long time since you’ve been touched the way Levi is touching you. Firmly, but as if you were delicate.
That’s not to say that you haven’t been touched in the past few years.
“What about you? Whose dream are you honoring?” You ask softly.
A breathless sort of sound falls from Levi’s lips. He doesn’t answer you, only smooths his fingers over the bandages around your hand. Silver meets your brown eyes and your pulse quickens again at the intensity of his stare.
He looks at you long and hard but still says nothing. You don’t think you’ll get an answer from him.
“Change your bandages twice a day,” Levi says lightly, “And don’t get infected or somethin’ equally as shitty.”
“Thanks, Levi,” You say with a laugh.
He squeezes your shoulder fondly, allowing for his thumb to float towards the base of your neck. A soft caress, and then another. His hand twists to cup your cheek, thumb gentle against your cheekbone. You lean into his touch, and something quietly shifts in the air between you and Levi.
“I lost track of whose dream I’m honoring a long time ago,” Levi says softly, “It’s just my dream these days.”
As quickly as he allows for the touch, he pulls away. You find yourself missing his unexpected warmth, but you know that’s the most you’re going to get out of him.
He leaves soon after that and leaves you with the lingering heat of his fingers on your cheek. It feels like something new, something old, and something you lost but found again.
Eventually, over another night of late night tea he does tell you. Levi says it in passing, the names of his friends from the Underground. Isabel and Farlan. He says it fondly, as if he’s telling you a tale from a storybook.
You slide your hand across the table and squeeze his hand lightly. Before you can pull away, he keeps your hand tucked into his. Surprise lights up your features and then it melts into a bright smile. The candlelight illuminates your dark eyes and Levi can’t draw his eyes away.
So he doesn’t, and he lets himself fall into you. Wholeheartedly and completely.
another lore fic for my dsmp persona, this wasnt a request just something i wanted to post! enjoy! :]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
The molten and glowing netherite dented into the ideal shape that Krabs had in mind. Currently she was in her smithy at home working on a dozen netherite tipped arrows. She hadn’t tried making arrows before but when Techno asked her for a commission for it, how hard could it be, right? By the looks of it, it seems to be turning out well. She managed to make a strong, dense metal fit the characteristic requirements of an arrow that should be light and steady.
On about her 5th one, 4 steady knocks come from her door.
‘I’m not expecting anyone today?’
The same knocks rumble from the spruce wood. Krabs puts down her welding tools and goes to put on her worn and ripped navy trench coat.
“Yeah, hold up! I’ll be there real quick!”
Grabbing Axe My Beloved and heading for the door, she places her weapon next to the door out of view in case she needs to use it at all. Opening the door, she realizes she needs her weapon in her hands once she sees the man on the other side.
“Ah, Krabs! Just the lady I wanted to see!”
Krabs furrows her brow and gets in a defensive position, grabbing Axe My Beloved and holding it in front of her.
“Why are you here? How the hell did you get past the forest and what do you want?”
Her words are like venom, the hostility practically oozing out of her body. Quackity takes a casual step back and holds his hands up in surrender.
“Relax, relax! I’m not here to hurt you, maybe- just here to discuss some…business.”
He can see the confusion on Krabs’ face along with how dumb she thinks he’s being. Deciding to humor his request, she pretends to think about what he said and acts like she’s taking it into consideration before dropping her expressions that made Quackity hopeful.
“I don’t think you see how much of a contradicting dumba$$ you sound like right now. We have nothing to discuss so get off my property, you’ll lower the property value.”
She walks away and waits for the door to slam shut after swinging it closed, but it never happens. Instead the door is met with Quackity’s foot as he opens it and lets himself in without warning. Krabs turns around and he’s already right behind her.
“What the- QUACKITY WHAT THE F*CK?! GET OUT!”
Krabs swings her axe at Quackity, making them easily dodgeable as to not hurt him but more so to scare him away.
“Well you let other people talk to you about what’s on their mind! Cmonnn, how is this any different?”
“Man, I have no clue! It couldn’t possibly be because you always want me dead whenever I see you! You tell me Quackity, why is it any different?” Krabs says.
He then gets a small smirk grazed across his lips. He knows that she’s being sarcastic, but pretends to play dumb.
“I have no idea what you're talking about! You're really just gonna ignore someone who needs to talk to you? Wow...I thought you were better than this.”
Krabs stops and rolls her eyes, sighing as she walks to a door expecting Quackity to keep up, which he does.
“Leave all your weapons outside the room. I’m keeping mine next to my chair because I still don’t trust you but other than that I won’t have any weapons either. This is the best you’ll get from me.”
The room contains 2 small navy couches across from each other, 3 black leather stools along the wall and a small coffee table between the 2 couches. A big window with open, white shutters is on the right wall and the rest of the walls are a plain grey tone. Sure enough, Krabs grabs a stool and sits down after leaning Axe My Beloved against it while instructing Quackity to sit wherever he wants after he places his weapons outside the door. They are both seated when Krabs nods at Quackity, signaling him to start speaking.
“Well it looks like you’ve got a nice place here! I have to say, I saw some of the weapons you’ve made in your workshop and your work is amazing!”
He’s seated on the couch, looking around at the small room and taking it all in. He can sense the uneasiness from Krabs and it makes him smile.
“Yeah...I was working on a new commission before you came knocking at my door. Some netherite tipped arrows for Techno.”
Krabs starts fidgeting with her hands, scratching her thumb against her index finger. She’s reluctant to make eye contact with the scarred man in front of her. She knows he’s staring her down and it makes her wanna shrink down into her seat, but she won’t. Looking vulnerable isn't exactly up her alley, so she takes on a more casual look but still avoids eye contact.
“Hm...look, we’re both busy people so I’ll cut to the chase. I’m sure you've heard of the new country I’m starting up, Las Nevadas. Everything’s built, there’s a bunch of casinos and it’ll be one of the most economically prosperous places you’ll ever see. I’m asking you to join my country Krabs. Join me.”
“Um...excuse me, what? Out of all people, you’re asking me to join your country? Man, how desperate are you? Of course I’m not joining! Let alone a country led by you, Quackity.”
Quackity tilts his head to the side in amusement as if he was expecting this response. Which he was. He’s not surprised that she reacted that way. I mean, one of your worst enemies who’s always out for your throat asking to stand side by side with you? That’s practically asking to be labeled as suspicious!
“You’re still holding onto the past, I see. Krabs, you need to stop looking back. L’manburg is f*cking gone and there’s nothing we can do about it. I don’t care anymore that you helped blow it up because I moved on. You should too.”
Krabs lets out a long, aggravated sigh and tightly clenches her hands together to relieve pressure.
“Maybe if you would take the f*cking time to listen for once, our sh*t could have been resolved a long time ago! I tried telling you why I had to help build the detonator but YOU decided to not let me speak and instead shoved me to the damn ground and made stupid false accusations. Why the hell do you think Tommy isn’t mad at me for helping? Or Tubbo? Because they had the common sense to let me EXPLAIN, QUACKITY! Our issues with each other are all on you, so quit trying to shove it all down my throat. Either way, I’m not gonna join you. I’m not Techno, Quackity. I don’t team with my enemies, you’ll just stab me in the back later.”
“Your ‘reasoning’ for why you helped is for another chat. It’s funny how you bring up Technoblade, though. You guys seem to work with each other a lot, right? I mean, he trusts you enough to let you live in the same area as him! But...what else is there to you?”
“Hm, well as you know I’m a welder, builder, blacksmith, redstone intelligent, pretty good at PVP and the general therapist of the Dream SMP. I also have my fair share in historical events, so there’s quite a bit to me actually.”
A long sigh and a slow head shake of disapproval comes from Quackity.
“And yet, you’re still as significant as a grain of sand.”
Krabs doesn’t get offended or angry, but rather curious and suspicious. Her eyes squint at him, tilting her head slightly to the side waiting for him to continue.
“Krabs, what word have you built for yourself? What title? ‘The Laborer’? ‘The Therapist’? You block out everyone from yourself, you’ve made yourself dull and boring. You have nothing to hide if you join me, Krabs. You’ll be someone!”
“Did you just completely ignore everything I just said?”
She finally looks up at Quackity, squinting at him. Accepting his request to chat is something she regrets now.
“I’m not ignoring anything, I’m telling you the cold hard truth. All of the sh*t you’ve been a part of was never you. All you are is an asset to peoples victory, and since you jump around so much your help isn’t as respected anymore as it used to be! You’re just Technoblades assistant. You’re just Tommy’s assistant. You’re just your ‘fathers’ assistant. And sooner or later they’ll realize your worth and drop you. They’re going to leave you, Krabs.”
The last phrase sends chills of anxiety and paranoia down Krabs’ spine. Was that really true? I mean, she had always known that she was less than her friends but pushing those kinds of thoughts away were a normally practiced thing for her. Her vicious shaking proved why she always tried to shove away the thought. Tears threatened to dump from her eyes as she downcasted her gaze to try and hide her sorrow, her breaths shallow and shaky.
“Shut the f*ck up…”
Quackity is a bit taken aback by her current state, but quickly tries to recover and recoil with an answer.
“It’s not my fault you’re too much of a p*ssy to-“
“I SAID SHUT THE F*CK UP! SO F*CKING HELP ME QUACKITY IF YOU SAY ANOTHER WORD I WILL NOT HESITATE TO SLICE YOUR TORSO IN HALF-“
Krabs’ yells, sobs, and threats choke to a stop as her neck is held at knife point with her axe kicked away from her reach by Quackity.
“Try to kill me and I’ll slit your throat right here with your own f*cking finger, Krabs.”
Both of them know what he means by that. He snuck in the knife he made after chopping one of Krabs’ iron fingers a while ago. She welded a new one back, but he got it made into a pocket knife just to spite her. And now here she is, being threatened with her own material. Her head is tilted upwards exposing her neck more but not wanting the knife to be in more contact with her skin. It feels like time stands still for a couple of seconds. With Krabs trying to fully process the situation while also trying to not look as weak and shattered as she does, and Quackity feeling both prideful yet slightly shocked that he has one of his longtime enemies finally backed up into a corner. Tears are running down Krabs’ cheeks but she can't wipe them away in fear of the blade being pushed further into her skin. But the silence gives her time to calm down and recoil.
“So, you're gonna take a life? Go ahead. Attack when your opponent is at their weakest, like always. Pathetic. Killing me wouldn't do anything, it would be a dishonorable kill and you would lose a precious member of Las Nevadas.”
His thoughts linger on the first part of what she said, when he realizes the last part. The knife hesitates and releases pressure from Krabs’ skin, giving her the chance to slowly back away from the knife. Once she's leaned back into the stool enough, Krabs dives for her axe but Quackity reacts before she can get to it and slams her stomach into the wall harshly with his shoulder. He crouches down in front of her aching body as she hisses in pain, cradling her stomach with her right arm.
“This is a dangerous f*cking game you're playing here, Krabs. Repeat that last thing you said.”
But no words come out of her mouth. They're all stuck in her mind. Her eyes are squeezed shut and hard breaths are escaping her nose. The words in her mind are ping-ponging all over the place and it feels like everything is both in and out of her grasp. Both her thoughts and her body are shaking- she's having a panic attack. An event that Quackity is all too familiar with from his Manburg days. The way Schlatt was like during their partnership in running Manburg, the abuse was both mental and physical so panic attacks aren't a foreign thing for Quackity. After he realizes this, he waits. Obviously he's not the person to help Krabs with this, and he doesn't think she would want help from him after what he did, so he lets her calm down on her own before engaging in a preferably more calm conversation.
“Are you able to listen to me now?”
A genuine question, no sarcasm, annoyance or malice laced in between. Krabs nods her head while keeping her gaze on the spruce floor in front of her. Quackity takes on a less menacing tone and instead speaks casually to not bring attention to Krabs’ current state, as well as to make things easier and less tense.
“Look, I heard you say something that hinted you were joining me. Were you telling the truth?”
Krabs takes a deep breath. Her voice is quiet and raspy, but she manages to mumble out a response.
“Admittedly, I said that to throw you off guard…”
Quackity chuckles quietly. Of course she would do that, how did he not realize? Still though, he's gotta admit it was pretty clever.
“You’re really hard to convince, aren't you?”
“Considering I'm your enemy, of course I'm gonna be difficult.”
“Well, then how about we make a bet for it then? It is a casino dependent nation, after all.”
Krabs looks up at Quackity, her eyes bloodshot but still wanting to know more of this bet Quackity has in mind. Her right eyebrow raises in wonder.
“We duel. If I win, you join me in Las Nevadas and capitalize off of the plot of land I'll be giving you. As well as pledging loyalty to the nation, following our laws, etc etc.”
“And if I win?”
“Straight to the point I see! If you win...not only will you not have to join Las Nevadas, you will also have immediate connections to me- the owner of the nation- if you ever get into any sh*t and you won’t need to owe anything in return, and I'll also keep the little episode you just had completely under wraps. Deal?”
Quackity holds out his hand to Krabs, waiting for her to seal the deal. She stares at his hand, thinking about the offer.
‘Seems fair enough…wouldn't want news spilling out anyways.’
“Hm, deal. When is this duel of yours taking place, and where? What are the rules?”
She shakes his hand then lets go, listening closely.
“It'll be in The Needle in Las Nevadas in about an hour or so. Bring as many weapons or materials as you wish, but no armor to make things more interesting. The first one to put down their weapon and surrender loses the bet,”
He gets up from his crouched position and heads for the door.
“See ya in about an hour, Krabs. Start preparing! I know I will.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Krabs looks down at the small piece of paper with the coordinates sloppily written on it. Quackity had placed it on her workbench before leaving, so she followed it after packing everything she thought she needed. A huge red and white sign stood proudly next to the concrete walkway.
Las Nevadas
read the sign. This was the place, she knew it. Not only from the obnoxiously bright sign, but also because of the golden winged man sitting just below the sign. Krabs whistles at Quackity, causing him to spot her walking towards him.
“Alright then, let's make this quick. Follow me, we're going to The Needle.”
To say the country was impressive was an understatement. Casinos, food joints, gathering places scattered all across the roads. The sun started to slowly set about a minute ago, making everything a beautiful golden orange hue. Krabs keeps her comments to herself, but looks around in wonder. She hadn't seen such a beautiful place ever since before the detonation of L’manburg. Krabs didn't say anything, but Quackity could see the look of amazement on her face and felt his ego boost a bit.
“Yknow, we don't even have to fight if you already like it here-!”
“Now who said anything about that?”
The elevator dings, and the two exit the small glass room into the highest and most spacious level of The Needle. The view is like nothing Krabs has ever seen before. The sky started taking on a darker hue, meaning that lights were being turned on throughout the country. And man, what a sight it was.
“So, are you ready?”
She snaps out of her trance, only to be met with Quackity standing in a fighting position on the other side of the room, sword in hand with potion effects floating around him. Krabs nods and proceeds to take out Axe My Beloved and eats a gapple.
And with that, the duel starts. Quackity is first to react, lunging at Krabs and slicing his sword at her. A swift move to the left and she evaded the attack and hacks her axe into Quackity’s torso. Dislodging it, blood drips from her weapon, yet he hasn't dropped. Instead, his skin has woven back together leaving not a scar behind, only a tear in his shirt. Time feels slow but is moving fast when their weapons strike each other, they both reposition their weapons to a flatter angle to try and shove the other away. 5 distinct seconds are gone, Quackity takes a potion from his inventory and quickly down the bottle, smashing the empty glass to the side while overpowering Krabs with one hand on his sword.
‘Regeneration and strength potions…’
Quackity managed to push her to the ground on her back, his sword striking against her axe she's using to block. His strength potion hasn't worn out yet so his sword is getting closer and closer to Krabs’ neck before she swipes her foot at his legs, making him fall over but getting a light cut on her arm.
Both of them are breathing heavily. Quackity’s regeneration potion has worn off but his strength potion hasn't. It's become clear to Krabs that he's relying on potions to win, which is perfect for what she's been saving. Clang after clang from blocked attacks, they've been going at each other for a good 10 minutes now when suddenly Quackity disappears after downing another bottle.
‘That f-cker had an invisibility potion!!’
His steps are quiet and he's making no noise, making things almost impossible to locate him. Krabs orbits around the center of the room, being cautious of any noise she hears or any potion effects she spots. Her eyes catch the familiar colorful potion effects rushing for her, she takes out a splash potion bottle filled with milk and smashes it in the general area of the potion effects. She wasn't sure if this experiment was gonna work, so she was surprised when all of the potion effects Quackity had wore off immediately, making him both visible and weaker. His sword gets a few inches stuck in Krabs’ metal arm that she had used to block herself with. It's wedged in enough that Krabs can yank the sword away from his grasp, dislodge the sword from her arm and throw it out the window. Glittering, clear shards scatter everywhere, and Quackity has been disarmed. The perfect opportunity open to her, Krabs rushes Quackity, holding her axe to his chest. The only thing behind him is the velvety sky, a cool breeze dancing through the few hairs exposed from under his beanie.
“Well, this has been a good fight! But you should have been more precautious, after all-”
For what seems to be the millionth time, he downs a potion from his inventory and tosses the bottle out of the already shattered window.
“-I am a gambler!”
He leans back into the night sky. Krabs expected an immediate death until she saw him slowly float down from the top of the building, laughing in overwhelming pride and satisfaction- he got away.
“HAH! GOOD FIGHT KRABS, BUT I HAVE A COUNTRY TO RUN AND I CAN’T RUN IT IF I’M DEAD! THE OFFERS STILL OPEN THOUGH, HIT ME UP IF YOU WANT THAT PLOT OF LAND!”
Quackity’s feet softly hit the ground, picking up his sword and walking away from the building with his own little victory. Krabs scoffs as he walks away, but not in pure hatred or anger. More so amused. Maybe she would just take the plot of land. What could go wrong, right?
< Previous Chapter // Masterlist
***
The Mandalorian stands on the top of the ramp to his ship looking in the direction of your escape, the stick still firmly clutched in his hand. He tosses it to the side with frustration and shakes his head to clear his mind and forget about the whole incident. He knows he has more pressing matters to attend to right now. He looks at the tracking fob which is now flashing rapidly with red light.
He lifts his head and looks again towards the woods where you have disappeared just moments ago—
“Shit!” he sighs.
------------------------------------------
You are trying to calm down and catch your breath. Your knees buckle, taking you to the ground. You sit exhausted, stabbing pain regularly shooting to your side.
“You mean ... like ... a real Mandalorian?” Zullu is standing above you, wiping sweat from her forehead with dirty hands, smearing mud all over it. “Like from my gran’s stories?”
“Yep,” you say simply.
And then you start laughing. Hysterically. It might be the exhaustion, or maybe you just can't believe you pulled off sneaking into a ship belonging to a Mandalorian. Maybe both … but you are currently laughing yourself silly.
Zullu is watching you awkwardly. She chuckles a couple of times until she is laughing with you and your guffaws echo through the forest.
“We should get back to the village,” you say eventually, still panting and your stomach aching from all the giggling. “I owe you—by the way—you totally saved me back there,” you admit and Zullu smiles at you in appreciation.
“D-do you think he’s following us?” Zullu is biting her nails and keeps looking over her shoulder as you walk.
“Relax. If he was, he would have already caught us.”
Oh, just how badly you have underestimated him.
***
You’re finally getting closer to the village when the sun is about to set. You’re exhausted but you can’t stop wondering, what is a Mandalorian doing on this planet.
Then again, maybe it’s for the best that you don’t know and if you are lucky, he’ll leave just as quickly as he appeared because the last thing the people in your village need right now, is more trouble. And he sure looked like a lot of trouble … broad-shouldered, mysterious, intriguing, and so intimidating … yeah, ... basically a definition of trouble.
“Gran used to say, most Mandalorians were mercenaries and bounty hunters. Maybe he’s really here because of ... you.” Zullu says out of nowhere, interrupting your—let’s be honest, slightly embarrassing—train of thought.
You shake your head when you process what she’s saying, “Nonsense, how could he possibly ... it’s been fifteen years ...”
“Yeah, but they don’t forget, you know,” Zullu frowns, looking genuinely worried. “You can’t be hiding here forever.”
“Fed up with me already?” you try to lighten the now heavy atmosphere. In fact, you are not overly fond of the conversation getting far too serious now.
“No … n-no, you know you’re my best friend”—she’s looking down at her feet as always when she’s struggling to find the right words—“it’s just … I feel … feel like you have a different … purpose, you know? ... Like in life? ... You’re not supposed to work on the field for the rest of it.”
“What’s wrong with the work on the field?”
“Except the fact that you hate it?”
You don’t like her sarcastic tone—yet—she’s got a point. You love the village, you love the people, but a farmer’s life is just not for you. You crave adventure. Maybe that’s why you so desperately seek it whenever a chance occurs. Eventually, you have to admit to yourself that—to some extent—that’s why you want to fight the bandits … and why you so recklessly pissed the Mandalorian off ...
… And then there’s the thing about your origin and your parents. Fifteen years ago, your parents left you here to hide you—to save you. The villagers took you in. You want to go to search for your parents but … you could never leave Zullu.
“I …,” Zullu continues when you’re being quiet for too long, “I just think … know actually … you’re meant to—.”
“And you?” you smile and try to steer the conversation away from you. “What’s your life purpose?”
She shrugs, “Uh ... don’t know... haven’t found my purpose yet.”
“Well, I’m sure yours is much greater than mine.”
Zullu exhales through her nose. “Don’t you wanna know why your parents left you here, hiding you from—” She looks over her shoulder one more time. “—the Empire?” she whispers the last words as if someone might be eavesdropping.
Oh no, here we go—the topic you wanted to avoid.
“The Empire is gone,” you reply, “my parents are ... too—most probably—so we might just never know.”
“A-and you’re okay with that? I mean… not knowing who you really are?”
“Yes,” you say resolutely. “And I’m fine with working on the farm for the rest of my life,” not so resolutely.
Zullu tilts her head sideways, raises her eyebrows at you and blinks slowly.
“Why are you bringing this up again?” irritation in your voice is now undeniable.
“Because… the Mandalorian—”
“Oh, Mandalorian-Shmandalorian ...” you snap.
“... and I haven’t told you but—” she continues, ignoring your comment, “—I have overheard mum talking about you. She said … said your parents—”
“Do you hear that?” you cut her off. “Listen ...”
And then you hear it again. The horn.
The horn!
What? No. No! It’s too early, it can’t be ... next week … it’s three months next week … they shouldn’t be here this early.
Wasting no more time, you burst into a sprint and run to the village as fast as you can. Zullu’s right behind you.
The villagers are just as confused as you are but are already gathering on the square nevertheless.
“What’s happening? They shouldn’t—” Zullu panics.
“I know,” you exhale, “They’re early. We’re not ready.”
“What do we do?”
You sigh but do not reply to her.
The bandits head straight to the barn to look for the stored food. Their leader is watching over the villagers who stand in a line as always. One of the bandits comes over and whispers something to his boss, but you can’t hear what he’s saying.
“Take everything, we’re gonna need it,” the leader replies to his mate and dismisses him with a simple wave of his hand.
With that … Shit! The fire’s back. It’s back and it’s running through your body like molten lava—
“You can’t!” you hear yourself crying out with a voice firmer than you expected. “You’re early … we couldn’t … the people will starve here!”
Zullu, who is standing next to you, turns her head in your direction wide-eyed.
You are not exactly sure why you did it—and what you should do next—but you can't let them steal all your supplies, right?
The leader takes a few steps forward and looks down at you.
Surprisingly enough, you’re not scared. You’ve seen a more intimidating gaze today and this guy is nowhere near as threatening as the Mandalorian. So you give him the most defiant look you have. And then—
Your little staring competition ends abruptly when the bandit slaps you with the back of his armoured hand and watches as you drop to your knees.
Son of a bitch, that hurt. That fucking hurt. You hold your jaw in your hand and flex it as you feel the coppery taste of blood filling your mouth.
--------------------------------------------
“Stupid … again … brave … but stupid,” the Mandalorian exhales to himself.
He’s lying on the top of the hill above the village, observing the whole scenario through the scope of his rifle.
He rises to his feet with an irritated grunt.
--------------------------------------------
You don’t remember ever being hit like this. Your jaw hurts but you’re determined not to let the bastard enjoy humiliating you. You need a few moments to recover but then you slowly get to your feet again, put on the same venomous look as before, and spit in the bandit’s face, spattering a considerable amount of blood mixed with your saliva all over his repulsive visage.
“You little ...” The bandit wipes the blood with the back of his hand and gropes for his blaster.
To your astonishment—and before you can come up with an action plan preventing you from being shot in the head—he suddenly halts his movement and is now looking over your shoulder, squinting at something behind you.
You follow his gaze and turn around to see ...
… the Mandalorian?
Huh, so he followed you back after all.
Only now can you take a proper look at him as he’s slowly approaching the village. Sure, you saw—and let’s not forget also fought—him back on his ship, but everything happened so quickly that you didn’t have time to fully scrutinize the way he looks.
You should not be so amazed. You used to listen to Zullu’s grandmother—eagerly hanging on her every word—when she told the stories about the Mando’ade to local children in the evenings. You knew the Mandalorians are bound with a creed and their culture revolves around war and battles which the elderly woman used to tell you about. Never have you imagined them to be this impressive though. So you just stand there with your mouth half open, taking in every detail of him as he comes nearer.
He’s tall, evidently agile and strong, judging by his arms and thighs. Well, and you also remember how hard his grip was on you this afternoon. His armour seems almost crimson now as it reflects the light of the setting sun. Beskar—you recall— that's what the old woman said their armour was made of. He has a rifle strapped to his back, a blaster by his side, and the wind plays with his cape as it flutters behind him. What a presence.
His helmet is pointed at the bandit standing next to you, piercing him with the same intimidating look he gave you when he caught you sneaking into his ship.
“Let them go,” he says, his voice dark and foreboding.
“We have no quarrel with you, Mando. Feel free to turn around and walk away.” The bandit is trying to stay calm but he’s just whistling in the dark.
“If you don’t want to start one, leave the supplies and never come back.” The Mandalorian is getting closer and closer to the square keeping the same slow resolute pace.
The other raiders have already noticed the disturbance and one by one began emerging from the barn, joining their leader on the square.
The Mandalorian doesn’t seem to care much that he’s outnumbered. He stops and rests his hand on his holster. He looks at the villagers and jerks his helmet to the side. They understand the gesture and back up slowly. You intend to do the same.
However, the bandit leader notices your intention, quickly wraps an arm around your neck and pushes you in front of him, hiding thus his body behind you. He’s now taking slow steps back—retreating—using your body as a human shield.
“Kill him,” he growls and drags you behind the cart that is conveniently standing in the square with half of your supplies already loaded up.
Your back is pushed to the offender's chest so you're facing away from all the action and you can only hear when the blasters begin shooting all at once. You have no idea what’s happening on the square behind you. You can hope for the best but you’re not entirely sure what it is. From what you know, the Mandalorian might be just as barbaric as the bandits so it might be out of the frying pan and into the fire for the village anyway.
After a good ten minutes of shooting, dull bangs and a couple of shrieks, there’s silence.
Suddenly—you’re being pulled out from the hideout. The last bandit standing is pushing you in front of him and you can feel a barrel of his blaster now pressed to your temple.
There are about ten bodies lying scattered around the square—lifeless—a smoke from the blaster shots still rising from some of them. With your peripheral vision, you can see a few of the survivors disappearing in the woods. They apparently decided to cut and run.
The Mandalorian is kneeling on one knee, leaning over one of the bodies, checking their vital signs. He swiftly draws his weapon again when he sees you two approaching.
“Drop the blaster, Mando,” the bandit warns. “Drop it, or I’ll kill her.”
The Mandalorian puts his hands up slowly and lays his blaster on the ground. However, as he raises to his feet, a flock of little whistling arrows shoots from his vambrace and flies towards you. You shut your eyes awaiting certain death. Instead, the pressure against your temple disappears, the arm around your neck eases its grip and the bandit falls dead behind you.
You raise your vision only to see the Mandalorian striding towards you. You’re still petrified and puzzled.
Suddenly, he stops midway, staring emptily behind you.
Um ... this is not good.
You slowly turn around and gulp.
A horde of bandits, probably the rest of their encampment is rushing towards you. Ten or fifteen brutes armed with blasters, knives and spears got alerted somehow and are ready to avenge their fallen comrades.
“Hide!” the Mandalorian shouts to you, raising his blaster again.
You do as you’re told. You run past him and across the square, noticing the huts are deserted. All the villagers must have already fled to the woods during the first shootout. You can only hope that Zullu escaped with them.
You dash into the woods not stopping for a moment. You can still hear the shooting behind you coming from the village. You should find the others, find Zullu, make sure she’s alright—
A figure comes from their hideout behind one of the trees about fifty feet in front of you.
It's one of the bandits.
“Going somewhere?” he smirks at you, his blaster already levelled at your chest.
He doesn’t wait for your reaction. A blaster shot echoes through the forest. For a second time today, you close your eyes awaiting the inevitable. When you open them again, Zullu is standing in front of you, her hands spread out in a protective gesture.
“No!” you cry out, tears already forming in the corners of your eyes.
She falls backwards to your arms and you slowly put her to the ground with trembling hands, holding her head in your lap as you kneel under her.
You hear the bandit in front of you burst into laughter. Horrible, gruesome laughter. Rage is building in your body, igniting every molecule. You look at him to see he’s raising his blaster once more to point it at you.
You’re going berserk, the fire is spiralling through you more intensely than ever before. You feel like your body would combust if you hold it back longer. You can’t fight it anymore. You won’t.
Somehow instinctively, you stretch your arms out in front of you, your fingers spread out but you’re slowly, convulsively closing them up. The bandit’s body lifts from the ground. Confused, he frantically kicks around, searching for solid ground under his feet. Then, his face distorts into a horrifying, painful grimace. You are holding him in front of you for a couple of seconds until you abruptly spread your arms with an excruciating scream. Following the movement of your hands, the bandit’s body is torn in half in front of your eyes. His lower half is tossed vigorously to the left, his torso to the right, colliding with the nearby tree with a splashy thud.
You have absolutely no understanding of what just happened but you have no time to think about it now. You quickly turn your attention to Zullu who is looking at you with glossy eyes.
There’s a nasty blaster wound in her belly and she’s covering it with her weak hands.
“Zullu—,” you cry out, “—fuck—what have you done?”
“I saved you, dummy.” Her chuckles turn to cough.
“... You’re gonna be alright. We’ll get you help … just stay with me, okay?” You try to shift yourself under her body so that you can attend to her wound.
She grabs you by your wrist and shakes her head. “I’m fine ... I’m ready ... f-found … my purpose ...,” she struggles to speak, “... now promise me, you’ll find yours.”
“Don’t talk like that—”
“I saw what you did … I’ve always known … you’re special.”
“I-uh ...” You’re lost for words.
“... I overheard mum saying … saying your father was a doctor—clone engineer … worked for the … Empire … betrayed them … they hunted him ... that’s why your parents hid you here.” Zullu coughs and takes a couple of deep breaths before she speaks again. “She knows where they are.” Zullu looks straight to your eyes as she continues, “I’m sorry I haven’t told you before. I was scared you would leave, but I know now that you have to go, you have to find them.”
“You’re my best friend, I won’t leave you, I need y—” a choking sense of despair causes your voice to crack before you are able to finish.
“You were never meant to stay on this p-planet ... you’re meant to do great things ... I know it ... find your parents, find your purpose … promise me ...”
You feel dizzy now. “Zullu—”
“Promise me!” she urges.
“I promise ...”
She smiles at you, raising her hand to touch your cheek but it collapses on the ground beside her and you witness the sparks in her eyes die out.
You burst into tears and tug her close to you. Hugging and squeezing her motionless body—consumed by aching grief—you cry.
You do not know how much time has passed but you finally find the strength to get up from the ground. You gently pick Zullu’s body up. The shooting that could have been heard from the village before has ceased.
You slowly walk towards the village, carrying Zullu in your arms. You don’t care about the possible threat that might still be lurking in the woods. Your mind is blank, you feel empty inside. There’s nothing left, only pain.
You have lost everything today.
Amber & Cosmo
Amber: [Okay so I’m just gonna write my diabolical idea here so we know how it’s kicking off, basically whenever Dash and Amber hooked up- which was long ago enough that he should but hasn’t given her the stash back but literally never long enough ago that it won’t be gross to Cosmo that this happened, soz boy- she thought they were doing so in Dash’s bedroom but it’s actually his brother’s so when she comes back looking for her stash/anything she can replace it with, she’s actually ransacking Cosmo’s room and we know it’s blatantly because he lied that he didn’t have any drugs when he in fact did so he’s an all around lovely boy]
Amber: [picture the scene of him walking into his own room like wtf and then she has to hurriedly explain all of the above and then I figure I can start this convo when she’s for real in Dash’s room searching the right one lol]
Amber: I’m so so so sorry
Amber: I can’t find the words…
Cosmo: [The levels we would’ve been like GET OUT without terrifying her into fully leaving, in our room fuming rn]
Cosmo: Did you take any of my shit?
Amber: I’m not here for anything that isn’t mine, I told you
Cosmo: You said a lot
Cosmo: and fast
Cosmo: You’ll excuse me if I was more distracted by the more pressing issues like the stranger in my fucking room
Amber: Because you were saying the same thing again and again
Amber: and loud
Amber: my pressing issue was, and is, me not getting arrested
Cosmo: That’s your life choices
Cosmo: maybe don’t break and enter if you don’t wanna be worrying about that, there you go, pro-tip
Amber: Passive aggression towards me is understandable but please don’t threaten a real act of, you know I’m no burglar
Cosmo: I don’t know that, I don’t know who the hell you are
Amber: If you need to empty out my pockets to be sure, I’ve not left
Amber: yet
Cosmo: I can’t see anything missing
Amber: I feel stupid for not realising it couldn’t be his room
Amber: stupider
Cosmo: It’s an unpleasant way to find out he’s a piece of shit for you but you’ll be better off for knowing
Amber: Typically unfair of the universe not to let me have the information before we had sex
Cosmo: I might be more willing to extend sympathy if it weren’t in my fucking bed
Amber: Take mine because it was
Amber: but believe me that I didn’t know
Cosmo: Doesn’t change the fact
Cosmo: He’s fucking dead
Amber: I can’t change it now, but I’ll bring you some new sheets to show you the sorry was meant
Amber: and knock before I come through your window
Cosmo: Or you could just not, on both counts
Amber: if you want
Cosmo: Funny when someone breaks in you don’t really get much say
Amber: It’s your choice from here on though, I was being pushy when I thought it was your lying brother’s window
Cosmo: Generous
Cosmo: What are you even looking for?
Amber: 🌿 I borrowed my dad’s stash
Amber: borrowed is the important part
Cosmo: How does that work
Cosmo: except for not, clearly
Cosmo: You may as well go, ‘cos that will be long gone
Amber: Empty handed!? I can’t do that
Cosmo: Help yourself to any crap he’s got in there
Cosmo: doesn’t bother me
Amber: I don’t think there’s anything in here my father would accept as a 🕊
Cosmo: No shit
Cosmo: Unless he’s also got the taste of a wannabe hippie
Amber: Their wardrobes are unsurprisingly similar but he’d kill me if I brought home new items to replace the handful of old clothes he already owns
Cosmo: You’re one of them
Cosmo: Figures, only people who’ll associate with him at this point
Amber: Them?
Cosmo: You live in the compound
Amber: oh right 👽
Amber: yes, I’ve lived there for a few months
Cosmo: My sympathies on that one
Amber: 😂 Thanks, but even going back empty handed wouldn’t result in a RIP 🥤 ending, it’s okay
Cosmo: There’s hardly a shortage where that came from
Amber: or of worse places I could or have lived
Amber: Have you always lived here?
Cosmo: I’d phone social for you but the case is well-established already, I reckon
Cosmo: Dublin? Always
Cosmo: Better postcode for a bit but now just on the weekends
Amber: better because…?
Cosmo: All the reasons they put on the listings
Cosmo: price, location, near to whatever amenities you might want, idk, you know what better means
Amber: You forgot no strange girls climbing in your bedroom window, it was the perfect opportunity to stay angry at me
Amber: but this is better, agreed 🙃
Cosmo: I’m still angry, don’t worry
Cosmo: you’d not get anywhere near my dad’s windows
Amber: so you get the weekends off from me
Cosmo: I’m definitely not doing his dirty work for him, he doesn’t deserve that but neither do you so
Cosmo: If stealing your stash and not letting you in his room wasn’t hint enough, he’s not gonna make you his girlfriend, okay
Amber: I’m not THAT stupid, I don’t know what you got from first glance or this on going impression but it sounds like I don’t want to know
Cosmo: You aren’t going to be here every weekday then, that’s what I mean
Amber: I could be, I found a lot of spare rooms on the way to his, they’re not as nice as yours but they don’t have horrific memories attached
Amber: yet
Cosmo: We’re not looking for lodgers and you just moved
Amber: over half a year ago isn’t a just
Amber: Why don’t you want to live with me?
Cosmo: 😂
Cosmo: You’ve got jokes, at least, if not your stash
Amber: if you had manners you’d help me
Cosmo: You and my brother desecrated my bed
Cosmo: Why’d I owe you anything, like
Amber: You’re 🤬 at him, he’s owed us both getting our own back and I can’t do a good enough job at it on my own
Cosmo: You’ve got a point, alright
Cosmo: [Come in]
Amber: [picture her buried in this carnage because she’s so smol and his room was such a mess before she even got there, just looking at him as she’s trying unsuccessfully to like throw this mattress out of the window like hello]
Cosmo: [just walking over and taking that off her with ease because you’re tall, lean it against the wall like not gonna happen babe, because as much as we’d like to throw your mattress in the stinky pond, we don’t want to cause hassle for Ali or Billie because we’re a good boy unlike someone, rifle through the mess of clothes and put aside any that might be worth something, indicate as much by doing the money thing with your hands like kaching]
Amber: [at least she’ll be too busy being shamelessly impressed by how tall and strong you are to pout about it, so you’re welcome but also lowkey not because like I said shameless haha]
Cosmo: [at least you can maintain eye contact and look at her right back as you’re like ‘what?’ ‘cos you don’t not know what you look like lol]
Amber: [sitting down on a skateboard that’s on the floor because the bed would be off limits even if the mattress wasn’t on the lean ‘what are we doing?’ like we need do more than raid his clothes if we wanna really annoy him but also the saucy undertone is obvious especially because eye contact hasn’t been broken remotely]
Cosmo: [shrugs ‘he doesn’t care about anything’ but not as offhand as that sounds because we are constantly and entirely at a loss with him ‘take what will make it worth it for you’ break that eye contact to look around like hmm]
Amber: [rolls the skateboard at him but obvs in a playful not aggressive manner cos we’re getting up as if to leave like ‘it was nice to meet you’ because not at all unspoken vibe of that makes it worth it for me]
Cosmo: [pick it up as we raise a brow half like was it and half yeah it was ‘cos duh ‘these are pricey-’ gesture to all the skateboards lying about with the one you’re now holding ‘and easier to get out the window’]
Amber: [sitting on said window ledge rn because even if it’s a tiny one so is she and we were gonna climb out before he made that suggestion DUH ‘maybe but what’ll I do with them’ looks down at self and her aesthetic because we’re nothing if not self aware baby ‘other than string one of the wheels onto a necklace’]
Cosmo: [a small lol but in a yeah that’s true look at you way without being THE RUDEST ‘put ‘em in a sock and you’ve got a weapon’ does the thing where you pick something up with your toes on some laundry ‘I’d supply your own sock though’ like ew]
Amber: [a lol of her own at his monkey footed antics and opening the window like that sock is THE GROSSIEST and it stinks in here which lbr isn't that much of an exaggeration 'the creativity doesn't sweeten the deal enough that part of it would be allowing me to use violence for conflict resolution, sadly' a pout 'but admitting you want me to stay here instead of trying to get me kicked out of there remains an option, thankfully' a grin like 😁]
Cosmo: [at least you can throw some of his clothes out the window without affecting your mother and grandmother so doing that without touching anything truly DISGUSTANG but giving her a look as if that suggestion is, but with a 😏 ‘cos don’t need to go that hard with the rudeness rn ‘we’d charge more rent’]
Amber: [looks around at the stuff he has already said is worth money before hopping down from the window to pick up a guitar Dash has obvs left lying around 'how much?']
Cosmo: [shrugs because not our bag ‘aren’t all instruments kinda expensive?’ ‘cos true unless it’s like a play guitar lmao]
Amber: ['instruments in this condition are, sure' because we're blatantly holding a flashy electric guitar rn not a beat up acoustic like she's used to seeing all the hippies play 'but it can't have any sentimental value' like there's no point taking it if he's not even gonna notice]
Cosmo: [‘good luck with that’ like he don’t care about anything ‘cos that’s how it seems hen]
Amber: [such a face on because even though he's proved they weren't friends and he's a dick she at least thought his hippie vibe wasn't total bollocks but all this expensive shit hard-core goes against that so with a sigh and a shrug she's going back to the window like well I might as well leave then 'thanks anyway, and sorry, again']
Cosmo: [a noise like that’s simplifying things a bit, a psh if you will, ‘guess he fucked you over first’ but a sincere face to show we know he did ‘just don’t do this again’ gestures vaguely like what bit do you mean sir]
Amber: ['it's my dad's stash, not mine' as if that's the only thing Dash did wrong because we're not gonna get into the fact you've known him for months you thought and likewise thought you were friends as everyone just thinks you're a slutty hippie stereotype so you have no reason to believe it's not the same assumption here 'I'll find a different way to replace it']
Cosmo: [reach in your pocket like how much even though you are a bit 😒 because essentially paying for your dickhead brother’s habit rn]
Amber: ['no!' such a fierce shake of her head and such a fiercely angry face because it's not his debt or problem even if it was actually about the money/ drugs instead of the lies and Dash's shitty behaviour which turns into a sad face/head in hands moment when she says 'I was beginning to think I couldn't feel any worse about how I've treated you' and just really quietly basically under her breath adding 'stupid' because @ herself for everything including thinking this was a good idea and still being here]
Cosmo: [‘hey’ and moving forward but then moving back awkwardly just as fast ‘cos we don’t really know what to think about you rn, as is this weird situation you find yourselves in ‘forget about it, I’m fine’ add ‘and the bit that ain’t fine is on him so don’t feel bad, honestly’]
Amber: [at least you can't see that awkward move back and feel worse for that gal because even though he's right and it's not really your fault you feel bad 'it's my fault he used your room, plenty of other girls from the commune wouldn't and haven't insisted on going anywhere else, and mine too that I'm at your house again today...I should've let it go' because we're never gonna be the peace and love cliche soz parents but we know that's what you want]
Cosmo: [‘he’s owed worse’ like I get why you didn’t let it go, even if your method is dubious babe]
Amber: [a smile that’s genuine relief because who else gets it in your life remotely but then you remember that so you’re like ‘retribution delivered karmically not by me’ but we still haven’t left and we obviously don’t mean it and aren’t trying to pretend we do with our tone because we’re not at the commune now bitches fight us]
Cosmo: [‘good luck with that’ ‘cos same energy of that’s bullshit]
Amber: [a little lol because he literally typed exactly that earlier like okay boy I get it ‘I’m owed worse’ than bad luck or being called out on bullshit that isn’t even hers but he thinks is, both definitely]
Cosmo: [‘undoubtedly’ and a shrug like soz, life’s shit]
Amber: ['where did you get it?' Meaning the money he just tried to give her obvs because she's thinking she might have to get a job to pay her dad back and even though she's clearly worked out from what he said about a better postcode at the weekend and how much stuff Dash has and how he treats it that it's likely from his dad but we hate when people make assumptions about us so we're not trying to do that]
Cosmo: [‘I go to a football academy’ not in the braggy way that sounds just stating the fact, she’s probably not aware that means you get paid boy but go off ‘if you need the cash, you should just take it’ like seriously gal, looking at her like]
Amber: ['What's that like?' SO surprised and intrigued in all the ways not like you could NEVER boy but she's obviously never met anyone else who does anything like that and even more importantly just really driving the point home that we don't know a thing about you and how wild it is we are here having this convo not to mention you're literally offering us money again which we are gonna shake our head to again as we make yet more eye contact 'when I need the money, I'll figure it out for myself' not angry tone this time just stating a fact]
Cosmo: [When you don’t really know how to answer that ‘cos the assumption always is that it’s a dream come true obvs because it is a big opportunity but it’s still a job at the end of the day, one you start much younger than most kids even get a part-time so we’re kinda like what do you mean lmao ‘yeah, it’s great, better than wasting my time at normal school, like’ asking a question back ‘cos not rude ‘you go to school?’ ‘cos undoubtedly aware loads of the commune lot don’t]
Amber: [‘I'm picturing the hunger games with a football' cos we are and that's what we mean lol because normal school is savage enough never mind something so focused on talent and competitiveness like 'are you a scorer?' Bringing back her adorably not knowing football terms and it's like it makes sense you would thrive there if you are and that type haha, nodding our answer to his question 'my dad teaches the kids who don't go' as if that's the only reason we go to school]
Cosmo: [little lol ‘maybe when you’re younger’ ‘cos obviously not all of you make it ‘but we all have pro contracts now, the deadweight is gone’ pop off with the basic explanation of your position on the team for her, we know the vibe hun, nods back ‘better than nothing, I guess’ but we clearly don’t really think so ‘you’re in his year?’ part sympathy part disgust lmao]
Amber: [obviously gonna ask him who his contract is with and if she can see him play but I won't commit you to picking a real team if you don't want to it's just to show that she's genuinely interested because likewise asking him other relevant questions when he's explaining the position he plays etc 'I don't mind school, being in the year above him definitely helps’ because my vibe is she would like school for lots of reasons but she's also Lowkey struggling a lot with it hence she doesn't really have time for a job rn very past me energy of having to do schoolwork until you literally go to bed]
Cosmo: [‘I don’t think it’ll be your scene’ and such a look of confusion that she asked like what do you want, suspish lol, smile though ‘that’s something’ ‘cos no one should have to suffer Dash in our opinion lmao]
Amber: ['Why not?' Such a genuine question but we aren't mad yet because we've clearly never been to a football match before so he might have a valid reason for thinking that and gonna give him the benefit of the doubt and obviously gonna throw something vaguely school related out of the window but nothing that would inconvenience your poor mother or nan though like yeah it's gonna be very important to me that we don't have to cross paths at school as well cos livid lol]
Cosmo: [‘Come on, you don’t think it’s all meat pies and
misogynists, like?’ with a 😏 energy ‘people like you are more likely to run onto the pitch with a sign than sit in the stands’ shakes head ‘sure he skives loads anyway, as the rest of this house actually has places to be and can’t keep a constant eye on him like the kid he is’ like you’ll barely have to see him, don’t worry, probs true]
Amber: [a lol ' are you saying it is or just that you don't want someone like me waving a sign with your name on from the stands?' Ignoring the Dash stuff entirely because now we know what a knob he is we are so over him]
Cosmo: [who can possibly say energy because that’s amused us lowkey]
Amber: ['I wanna see you play' because we do]
Cosmo: [‘why?’ because the levels we’re like WHAT DO YOU WANT cannot be overstated lmao]
Amber: [' Because I think it sounds fun, why don't you want me to?']
Cosmo: [‘if you want to go to a football match, you can’ like you don’t need to come to mine, which sounds ruder than we mean it, just pointing this out]
Amber: [the poutiest because rude and also we aren't stupid we're aware of that thank you boy 'and hold up a sign saying what, for who?' Because duh the fun is cheering you on sir]
Cosmo: [‘We don’t do cheerleaders’ but looking at her slightly less suspish and more curious]
Amber: ['okay, I won't wear the outfit, your loss' accidentally very saucy mental image soz not soz]
Cosmo: [we’re getting such slag vibes ‘cos of how this has all gone down so we’re like steady on gal ‘cos we’re not trying to put out that we’ll get on you ‘cos we know you’ve got previous, not that kinda boy, very #awks on your behalf ‘funny’]
Amber: [Ngl love that because she’s really not but he’s gonna keep thinking this for ages if she hooks up with a random at the clerb again this time and when she dates this old ass dude despite the fact it’s the first time she’s done either haha ‘Pom poms are usually plastic’ spoken like plastic is a swear word lol ‘and tissue paper isn’t recyclable either, environmentally responsible arts and crafts are the limit’]
Cosmo: [rolls eyes but not in the sarky energy of the emoji ‘what the fuck would you wave, some broccoli?’]
Amber: ['I can cut the cardboard into any shape’ so amused genuinely ‘so yes, if you like’]
Cosmo: [‘sure I wouldn’t wanna hinder your creativity, express yourself’ in a faux hippie energy]
Amber: ['I wouldn’t want everyone to think I was there protesting the pies and misogyny’🤔 ‘What number are you?’]
Cosmo: [‘hopefully I don’t mess up or you’ll have to add the racism to the list’ but tell her your number obvs]
Amber: [do a tick on the palm on her hand with her finger like noted ‘Does that mean I’m invited?’]
Cosmo: [‘it’s not an invite event’ shrugs ‘cos we still do not get this lmao ‘can’t stop you’]
Amber: [‘Unfriendly’ because I’m bringing that pun back thank you]
Cosmo: [my boo says I can and I will, ‘so weird’ kinda under our breath but not in a snide way so she could hear]
Amber: [‘it being weird to be interested in getting to know you says more about you than me’ like 😏 energy of what you’re so unlikeable are you as if the weirdness doesn’t come from the fact you hooked up with his brother and then broke into his house but okay babe]
Cosmo: [‘we’re not going to be friends’ like that’s a fact, bit rude but also I understand]
Amber: [‘We could be’ again so genuine as if there’s not reasons why you wouldn’t]
Cosmo: [‘no’ very simply even if we’re a bit #conflicted ‘cos don’t want to be a dick to you]
Amber: [‘okay’ because you literally can’t and wouldn’t argue with that so just actually go to leave for real this time gal]
Cosmo: [gonna have to let her go for now but let some time pass but like 15 mins ish not like a long time, enough that she’s gone though]
Cosmo: I didn’t mean to offend you
Amber: You didn’t, it would have offended me if you’d said no after your first 👀
Cosmo: Good
Cosmo: because it’s not about you
Cosmo: it isn’t a problem with you personally, I mean
Amber: it’s about your brother, I know, I’m not a real 👽 I understand why
Cosmo: Amongst other things, yeah
Amber: other things you don’t have to explain to me, it’s okay, I meant and mean it
Cosmo: alright
Amber: Thanks for trying to help me
Cosmo: There’s other ways to screw him over, if you want to
Amber: are there?
Cosmo: ‘course
Cosmo: there are things he cares about, even if not his things
Amber: like…?
Cosmo: think about it, he made it obvious
Cosmo: access to drugs and hippie girls
Amber: I don’t have a way to take either of those from him
Cosmo: Yeah you do
Cosmo: you live there, they’re your ‘family’ or whatever nonsense
Amber: not the girls he goes for, they’re always new
Cosmo: you can’t put it in the welcome pack
Amber: I’m not going to draw more attention to him, there’s already too much, and some of these girls would be more attracted to any negatives I pointed out, for reasons I don’t need to explain
Cosmo: drugs then, the new girls won’t be the source of those
Amber: Neither am I
Cosmo: it’ll be blokes
Cosmo: or at least adults
Cosmo: braindead or otherwise, they can’t all be fooled by him and his bullshit
Cosmo: get him cut off
Amber: I’m flattered you think my word is worth more than money to a dealer, but I’m not sure it is
Cosmo: I thought it was nature’s bounty with you lot only
Cosmo: and you pretended to have morals about it all
Amber: pretended being the key word, but I’ll try and get him blacklisted
Cosmo: I’m just saying, fuck up his spot there, that’s the only thing that would bother him
Cosmo: If you can’t then you can’t, sorry
Amber: I just don’t want him to think I care about his behaviour because of the bad sex we had, which he probably will
Cosmo: Yeah, probably
Cosmo: he loves himself enough to believe everyone else does
Amber: If they were my sisters this would be a lot easier
Cosmo: It’s a big enough place to avoid him, yeah?
Amber: But letting him get away with this is giving him free passes for as long as he wants to lie and treat other people the same, I shouldn’t allow it when the only reason is because I don’t really have time for a full blown vendetta, who am I if I do that?
Amber: …sorry for the vent, this isn’t your responsibility
Cosmo: You’re clearly a decent person
Cosmo: You can’t be responsible for all the ones that aren’t
Cosmo: I should do something because he’s my brother, right
Cosmo: but I can’t
Amber: I’m taking the compliment, after that we can stop talking about him
Cosmo: You wanted help with it
Amber: And the dealer angle is helpful ⭐️
Cosmo: Alright, I didn’t have to like but I felt bad for you
Amber: You could’ve stopped there and not made me feel bad about myself
Cosmo: I was trying to do the opposite
Cosmo: you got sarky with your ⭐️s
Cosmo: I didn’t fuck you over
Amber: It was genuine, for a genuinely good idea! I also said thank you and sorry, like, multiple times
Cosmo: Who uses gold stars genuinely
Amber: My dad has sheets of them he never uses sarcastically if you wanna start being someone
Cosmo: Alright, teacher jokes
Cosmo: You understand that it looks sarcastic though
Cosmo: To standard people
Amber: To people who don’t think it was a good idea, you mean, but who are they? It makes sense and will probably work
Amber: and I understand why it’s easier for you to take this stance with me, sure, we’ve been through that
Cosmo: What stance?
Amber: close to argumentative without crossing over the line, defensive
Cosmo: You broke into my house, I dunno how you aren’t getting that
Cosmo: unless you’re purposefully pretending not to, which is your dick move, not mine
Amber: I know I did, but you have no reason to feel unsafe because of me, which we’ve also been through
Cosmo: I don’t, feel unsafe
Cosmo: I don’t think that means we need to talk or get to know each other
Amber: It’s not going to happen again which means you don’t have to see me again, and we can stop talking any time too
Cosmo: You’re acting like I’m being rude
Amber: No, I said it was fine when you asked me if I was offended
Cosmo: What were you trying to do, asking about me
Amber: get the answers
Cosmo: 🙄
Cosmo: Yeah but why
Amber: Why wouldn’t I want to leave you with an impression which isn’t me as some BIG BAD coming through your window? Because I’m not and you wouldn’t think so if we bumped into each other in town anywhere ‘normal’
Cosmo: So you was trying to get yourself out of trouble
Cosmo: Yeah, okay, that makes sense
Cosmo: I just wanted to know why, that’s all
Amber: I don’t wanna be in trouble but it wasn’t that calculating
Amber: isn’t
Amber: meeting new people, striking up conversation in situations that other people often don’t think are natural, kinda are to me
Cosmo: It’s not a bad thing, I could’ve called the police on you
Cosmo: obviously you don’t want that
Cosmo: you don’t need to worry, I won’t, even if it is a bit late now anyway
Cosmo: Sure, but even so
Cosmo: you can’t say you’re doing that on the regs
Amber: You don’t have my name and the description you could give wouldn’t narrow it down very much once you directed them here
Amber: but I’d still prefer you didn’t, I’m not gonna lie
Amber: I don’t get pushed to those extremes regularly, no, because most people who say they’re my friends are and don’t treat me how Dash did
Amber: if you’re waiting for me to say sorry for making the best out of the unexpected, you being there, I’m not going to
Cosmo: I’ve seen plenty of them, they don’t look like you
Cosmo: Well I’m glad to hear you aren’t regularly breaking and entering
Cosmo: I don’t need an apology
Amber: What do you need, besides the ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️?
Cosmo: Ha ha
Cosmo: like I said, I just didn’t get it
Cosmo: and who says I want to leave a bad impression either
Amber: I haven’t met a ⚽️🏆⭐️ before, if I asked too many questions, that’s why, but if I made you feel uncomfortable, that’s a worse impression and you’ll get an apology anyway
Amber: Not you, or you wouldn’t have helped and I’d be talking to the police instead
Cosmo: I’m used to that
Cosmo: Usually from lads though
Cosmo: or girls but it’s more obviously fake
Cosmo: I’m no ⭐️ yet anyway
Cosmo: I’m not being compared to him, even if that means doing shit it isn’t my job to, I’d rather
Amber: I’m not comparing you, in spite of it turning out I only know Dash as well as I know you
Amber: you could’ve told me you didn’t want me coming to watch you play because of the other girls that do, I’m used to plenty at school being jealous of the way I look
Cosmo: And I intend to keep it that way, the lack of comparison
Cosmo: If I say that’s not what I meant will you accuse me of trying to make you feel bad again?
Amber: What did you mean? If you’re not trying to make me feel bad, I won’t accuse you of anything you haven’t done
Cosmo: It’d be weird if you came because my dad will be there
Amber: I’m even more used to that, all my ‘normal friends’ parents are judgmental about my piercings and the tattoos they can see, it’s okay, I don’t have to come
Cosmo: He wouldn’t judge you, but games are about winning, focus, all that
Cosmo: not inviting random strangers
Amber: He’d still be judging me for how he thinks I’ll behave, as a distraction, either way I’m a bad influence 😈
Cosmo: He’d just be pissed off with me, honestly
Amber: I’ll have to wait to watch you on tv one day, keeping it a secret from my parents who’d be 😠 at me
Amber: and if I get too impatient I can always break into the bedroom of one of your teammates, befriend them and cut their number out of cardboard…
Cosmo: You reckon, do ya
Amber: That you’ll be a 📺⭐️ or someone else on the team will be happy to have me appear in their bedroom? Because yes, I do
Cosmo: 😂 Can’t knock the confidence
Amber: Negging hasn’t been considered flirting since approximately the 90s, so no
Cosmo: Reckoning I’m flirting with you borders on delusional
Amber: which borders on what, ableism? Keep going if you have nothing to do but dig to Australia
Cosmo: Entertaining your fantasies isn’t a requirement for being a good person, whatever politically correct label you wanna throw on it
Amber: If my fantasies were that instantaneous I wouldn’t need entertainment from anywhere else
Cosmo: Good luck with that
Amber: Thanks, I am bored enough to attempt construction of a fully make believe world
Cosmo: You have time to get bored?
Amber: it’s not a forced labour camp
Cosmo: you wouldn’t keep around useless stoners if it was
Amber: And as someone who fits that mould, thank god 🙌🏽
Cosmo: it’s usually more exploitation in the name of free love anyway
Cosmo: and that doesn’t sound familiar at all
Amber: Because you’ve never been in any way exploited
Cosmo: I haven’t, actually, but that’s not really the point
Amber: Of course you have
Cosmo: How have I?
Cosmo: You’re chatting shit which won’t detract from the fact that place attracts nothing but predators of one kind or the other
Amber: Your parents sacrificed you to ⚽️🏆⭐️ the same as mine did to me with ✌🏽☮️💙 we’re both indoctrinated, yours just has a definite job prospect attached to it
Cosmo: You don’t know a single thing about me or my parents, you asked a few questions
Cosmo: you confirmed my brother picks off new girls like a opportunist abuser, and I know he ain’t the only one who treats that place like that
Cosmo: I didn’t say fuck all about you or your parents
Amber: Sport attracts predators too, nobody’s condemning it because of how a large number of people in positions of power treat the ones they have power over
Cosmo: Sport is regulated
Cosmo: for fuck’s sake
Amber: We open our doors to vulnerable people, there are always going to be other people who try and take advantage of that, and maybe at the next place they do there won’t also be as many people around who care
Cosmo: Yeah, you’ve identified the problem there
Cosmo: vulnerable people need protection and actual help
Cosmo: not care from a bunch of people who are entirely unqualified to do shit
Amber: They get help from qualified adults, not every person living there is a clueless teenager and you are actually allowed to leave
Cosmo: Yeah, that’s the point, anyone getting enough real help would leave
Cosmo: it’s a half-way house at best and for every ‘success’ and person that gets the fuck out, you have just as many that get sucked into bullshit they otherwise wouldn’t if you weren’t there
Amber: You’ve never even been there
Cosmo: Don’t need to
Cosmo: if the evidence weren’t out my window, it’s in my house and all so
Amber: Dash based evidence would make anyone cynical
Cosmo: You wish he was your only problem
Cosmo: just because he’s a dick, don’t mean he’s not got it from somewhere, or he wouldn’t get away with it
Amber: Nowhere’s perfect or fucked irreparably, you wish it was that cut and dry
Cosmo: I’m not the one who thinks I’m creating a utopian society
Cosmo: no one needs perfect, just not batshit harmful bullshit
Amber: Neither am I
Cosmo: Not you personally
Amber: So stop attacking me personally, get a 📢 and point it out of your window towards someone who really believes all the things you think are harmful bullshit
Cosmo: I’m not attacking you
Amber: You’re saying things I either have to agree or disagree with about my home and way of life that I’ve already had to spend a really long time defending or denouncing in exactly the same way
Cosmo: You don’t like it because it’s true
Cosmo: I can’t help that
Cosmo: but it’s exactly why there’s no point talking again
Amber: I can’t help that my parents like it there and really believe in things I don’t
Cosmo: Don’t they care what you want?
Amber: I go to school, we’ve stayed long enough for me to make friends, as far as they are concerned, I’m getting what I want
Cosmo: Is that all you want though?
Amber: it’s getting my own way more than a lot of my friends do, what 17 year old gets everything they want?
Cosmo: Parents should give a shit about their kid’s happiness
Cosmo: it’s not being a brat about wanting more money and a later curfew
Amber: I care about their happiness too
Cosmo: they aren’t meant to make that your problem
Amber: Putting me first and their own lives to the side would cause problems for all of us, if they’re miserable I’m not gonna be happy, and not expressing it wouldn’t mean it wasn’t still obvious
Cosmo: Are they happy?
Amber: Happier than they’ve been for years, my dad left his girlfriend and my mama has a new boyfriend, they’re both loving their jobs and the people they’ve met here who they aren’t dating too… I’d say they are
Cosmo: You’re scared they’ll want to leave again
Cosmo: or that place will get shut down and they’ll be no choice in it
Amber: They will or it will, what I’m afraid of is when it does I’ll make the choice to stay and they won’t
Cosmo: If they’d rather be helping other people than their own kid that’s fucked
Amber: I’m their 👶🏽 forever but not a child, they’d rather treat me like an adult
Cosmo: Whether you’re ready for that or not?
Amber: Some things you don’t ever feel ready for, but they have to happen anyway and when they do you’re almost always 😁 or at least slightly relieved it’s done
Cosmo: You aren’t old enough to be left anyway, whatever they’d rather do
Amber: An irrational fear for a while longer
Amber: I’m not bored enough for crystal healing
Cosmo: That’s not a thing
Cosmo: you’re taking the piss now
Amber: it’s not something that works, but it’s something that happens
Amber: often
Cosmo: I suppose I don’t even wanna know what that entails
Cosmo: if it’s not good enough for max boredom even
Amber: What are you doing? Now that you’re done making me question my entire life
Cosmo: I really weren’t
Cosmo: I know there’s fuck all you can do but there’s plenty actual adults there could and haven’t long before you showed
Cosmo: I need to go do my run
Cosmo: I’m behind schedule now
Amber: You haven’t really, don’t feel bad, it’s my turn again for putting you behind schedule
Cosmo: Inexcusable, really
Cosmo: If we’d have found a way for you to get back at him and/or get your money back we’d be further behind so win some lose some
Amber: I’m sorry x 9
Cosmo: I get it, I don’t deserve the sincerity of actually bothering to type it out
Cosmo: Call it even then?
Amber: I’d prefer to call us odd but okay
Cosmo: ‘course, got to keep it 👽 I know
Amber: Tempting fate slightly, unless you want to get abducted on your run
Cosmo: I was clearly after an invitation, yeah
Cosmo: I’m alright, tah, only one dickhead who looks like me will be showing
Amber: Is that my invite to a race? Because I don’t think I’d be able to beat you
Cosmo: Is that humility? Doesn’t seem like you
Cosmo: you’ve already been abducted yourself, obvs
Amber: Or shameless untrue flattery
Cosmo: Hmm
Cosmo: Possible, yeah
Cosmo: but you never would beat me so we’re at real delusion again
Amber: Distance or speed?
Cosmo: I have unfair advantages for both
Cosmo: I run up and down a field for 90 minutes a time, and I have about double the leg length you do
Amber: It’s really cute you think I’d let anything happen fairly when I could just cheat
Cosmo: There’s no point having any kind of competition if you don’t follow the rules
Cosmo: take your hollow victory then, see if it feels good
Amber: You’ve made me not want it now! 🥺
Cosmo: N’awh
Cosmo: right buzzkill, I know
Amber: Besides leg measuring, what do you do for fun? And don’t say run up and down a field for 90 minutes
Cosmo: Just what us footie lads are like, good clean fun, unlike rugby
Cosmo: what do you actually do, when you’re avoiding crystal healings?
Amber: The big 🚿 at the end can’t be what makes you happiest either, I don’t believe that’s true of anyone
Amber: other than shopping, I’m sure I do mostly the same as the rest of the girls you know
Cosmo: IDK I’m sure it makes the predatory coaches buzzing when we’re all lathered up 🧼
Cosmo: but shopping is all the girls I know do 😜
Cosmo: I’m the same, is your actual answer, what every 17 year old lad with some disposable income does
Amber: Great, I’ll need the healing to erase that visual…
Amber: It can’t be, because then I’ll have to feel sorry for you AND the girls you know, they’ll have other interests they’re avoiding telling you about, like I am
Amber: the boys I know our age definitely don’t seem like they do much of anything, besides get drunk and high, so there must be A LOT of other hobbies they’re keeping secret from me too
Cosmo: Maybe you’ve uncovered the truth there
Cosmo: Girls and boys don’t tell each other everything, or anything
Cosmo: Or we both know poor examples
Cosmo: Who’s to ever be sure
Amber: But now it’s been uncovered, either way, we can change it
Amber: I’ll go first, the childish faves I was keeping from you are swimming and dancing, because they make me sound about 9 years old
Cosmo: I don’t think so
Cosmo: depends on how you frame it, swimming is great cardio and underwater is a great place to think or not think as much as you need
Cosmo: dancing, likewise great cardio, and good for the soul, sure your lot would put it, mood-boosting for the rest of us
Cosmo: you sound very well-⚪️ed, if anything, not 👶
Amber: It’s your turn
Cosmo: alright, bossy
Cosmo: you already know I like football and I like to run
Cosmo: I like the gym too, swimming as well, actually
Cosmo: going out for meals, drinks, all that stuff
Amber: Nobody likes the gym, the effects and ego boost maybe
Cosmo: I do
Cosmo: it’s a building with workout equipment in, not a torture chamber
Cosmo: and the one at the academy is really good
Amber: you like how much you can 🏋🏽♂️ and having your friends to compete against
Cosmo: is that a question or an assumption
Amber: I’m changing it to a question because you caught me in an assumption, which I hate, so ?
Cosmo: 😏
Cosmo: competition is a good motivator, so is seeing progress in your abilities, sure
Cosmo: exercise makes you feel better, whatever form you like doing it in, it’s that simple
Amber: I’m not gonna lie and pretend I do yoga for any other reason than how flexible I am as a result, I guess we finally agree on something, even if it is something shallow
Cosmo: It’s not shallow
Cosmo: giving a shit about your body and your health isn’t just because looking good is nice, it also feels better
Amber: but if I cared about my health there are vices I’ve picked up that I wouldn’t have and things I wouldn’t put into my body which I do, you’re on a journey and I’m doing the occasional day trip
Cosmo: Very hippie-approved
Cosmo: songs about it and everything, right
Cosmo: I do drink, I just try not to get wasted
Cosmo: it’d be unsociable not to at all
Amber: You’d look like a 👽 and you’d have to move somewhere that isn’t Dublin
Cosmo: And change my occupation
Amber: drastic avoidance tactic to stop me from meeting your dad or watching you play
Cosmo: 😂 Not all about you, hippie
Amber: That’s the rudest thing you’ve said to me so far!
Cosmo: And WAGs are meant to be high-maintenance…
Amber: meaning they put time and effort into their appearance, which you just applauded as a virtue in yourself
Cosmo: No, meaning you have to put a lot of effort in to maintain the relationship
Cosmo: but it was a joke before you get all soapbox about it
Amber: a joke I’m not gonna let you get away with making, boy
Amber: but if we need to talk about anything it’s that you don’t think all relationships require a lot of time and effort
Cosmo: I didn’t, it’s a joke that’s made, by people in general
Cosmo: it’s more 🤑🤩 maintenance people are implying, not 🥰😘
Amber: You repeated it, like it’s funny or true, or both
Amber: after I told you I hate assumptions, and stereotypes aren’t any different
Cosmo: They’re inevitable and you’ve made loads about me, my friends and my family so
Cosmo: that sounds like your problem
Amber: The difference is, I’m trying to not and I apologised when I did, you’re doubling down
Cosmo: I’m not doubling down because it’s a joke, which means I didn’t mean it in the first place
Cosmo: You did and that’s why you’re mad
Amber: Why are you like this?
Cosmo: Like what?
Amber: 2 seconds away from an argument at ALL times
Cosmo: You’ve started every one
Cosmo: People like you reckon you can say whatever bullshit you want like you’re so knowing and zen and then I’m the arsehole for not just letting you chat shit on me
Amber: You keep saying people like me, when I’m obviously not like that
Amber: zen or all knowing
Cosmo: I said it was bullshit
Cosmo: It’s what you wanna project
Cosmo: that you’ve got it figured out, which is why you live such a mental way of life, because it’s actually the RIGHT way of life and we’re all stupid and brainwashed, not yous
Cosmo: ⭐️
Amber: I told you why I live there and that I don’t believe in it
Amber: using ⭐️ against me is bullshit
Cosmo: Maybe you can’t help it
Cosmo: you don’t even know you’re doing it
Amber: Do you know you’re being a fucking asshole?
Cosmo: Yeah
Cosmo: do you?
Amber: now I do
Amber: It’s not an intention, but you’re right, sometimes I open my mouth to speak and either of my parents come out
Cosmo: I know the feeling
Cosmo: maybe that’s inevitable too
Cosmo: how individual are any of us really, we’re all just a mess of the people we know
Amber: Better not be! Or I’ve really wasted years fighting to think for myself, carving out compromises to end up not even wanting them
Cosmo: Won’t say good luck with that but
Cosmo: it’s a nice thought, anyway
Amber: A nicer thought than becoming them, living like this forever and being happy with that
Cosmo: What do you want to do?
Amber: It’s stupid
Amber: but I wanna eat 🍕 and buy a new 👗 to wear out somewhere and come home and sleep in a 🛏 on my own or with the same fucking person
Cosmo: That isn’t stupid
Cosmo: I think that’s what a lot of people want
Cosmo: Some variation of, when it comes down to it
Amber: It’s what my school friends already have, that’s why it’s stupid, because I shouldn’t have to fight for it, it’s stupid because they think I have the type of freedom they daydream about
Cosmo: Maybe you do have things they don’t have but want
Cosmo: maybe they’re not as close to their parents, or they’re an only-child who would kill for all the people around
Cosmo: or maybe some people are lucky from the start and some have to make their own
Amber: maybe x 9
Cosmo: If you’re keeping count
Cosmo: You’ll be able to get all those things
Amber: Not for a while, but one day, maybe
Amber: because if I’m keeping count that’s only 4
Cosmo: There’s time for a few more
Amber: If you introduce me to the girls you know who do nothing but shop, I could get a new 👗 in no time, right?
Cosmo: Or you could go with your own friends
Cosmo: the non-commune ones, that won’t cry at a plastic bag
Amber: Maybe… if I hadn’t had the fast fashion rant at them all, I don’t even know I’m doing it, I told you you’d got that right
Cosmo: Ah
Cosmo: I see
Cosmo: I could take you if you want
Cosmo: you’ll have to take cover in the rails if you see one of them coming
Amber: I don’t wanna mess up your schedule again, you’ll have to fit me in when it suits you, not when I’m pouting
Cosmo: Right, so when are you not pouting? 🤔
Amber: When you stop being mean to me
Amber: maybe
Cosmo: Good use of a maybe
Cosmo: How about Saturday lunchtime
Cosmo: I have to eat, after-all
Amber: Teeth off me and my 👗
Cosmo: Not a cannibal
Cosmo: or a moth?
Cosmo: I’m just saying, that’s a free hour, if you’re worried about my schedule
Amber: okay, 1 shop, I promise
Amber: less than an hour
Cosmo: I’ll take that as a maybe
Cosmo: I’m not going to put you on a timer, like
Cosmo: Saturdays are pretty flexible and you’re going to wanna take time to enjoy yourself and all
Amber: You don’t wanna race me, I know
Cosmo: You don’t wanna cheat no more
Cosmo: maybe
Amber: I won’t
Cosmo: Alright
Cosmo: I still don’t wanna make you sad
Amber: I’m not gonna cry because you take 🥇
Cosmo: As long as that’s a promise
Amber: it is, maybe I didn’t know anything about ⚽️ before today but I understand sportsmanship`
Cosmo: What shops do you want to go to?
Amber: I was kinda hoping you’d know the answer
Cosmo: I do, I’ve got you covered then
Cosmo: Pick you up [time]
Amber: from where?
Cosmo: There’s a phonebox outside there, right? Go there
Amber: 🦸🏽
Cosmo: I’ll look for the 🤓 then
Amber: When you asked me what I wanted to do, my first thought was my homework
Cosmo: Serious?
Amber: I have a LOT and it’s really hard to concentrate here
Cosmo: You remember what window is actually his?
Cosmo: ‘cos he’s never in so
Cosmo: You could
Cosmo: as long as you don’t come in the rest of the house, my room included
Amber: Are you serious?
Cosmo: It isn’t my room
Cosmo: just keep to sociable hours, why not
Cosmo: you said homework, not wild party
Amber: thanks
Amber: I’m almost as speechless as I was when you were telling me to leave
Cosmo: I know
Cosmo: I’m not saying I didn’t say some harsh things
Cosmo: It’s been weird but there’s no reason you can’t have somewhere quiet
Cosmo: and apart from me and him, no one really comes up to the first floor much
Amber: weirder than my usual daily life deserves every ⭐️ my dad has
Amber: and so do you, for this and everything else you’ve helped me with
Cosmo: Nah, it’s nothing
Cosmo: not my finest hour, actually
Cosmo: but it’s alright
Amber: it’s not nothing, it’s definitely something
Cosmo: We’re even
Cosmo: it wasn’t all ⭐️s so
Amber: plenty of it was
Cosmo: That don’t make it alright
Cosmo: I don’t make it a habit of being a fucking asshole, believe it or not
Amber: Neither do I
Amber: we’re even
Cosmo: 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Amber: that’s a weird visual, thanks for it
Cosmo: You’re welcome for the artistic inspiration, like
Amber: if your idea is that your teammate bans me from matches too, there are gonna be easier ways than encouraging me to show up with 9 thumb shaped cardboard signs…
Cosmo: My theoretical teammate
Cosmo: That you ain’t gonna meet
Amber: Yes, him
Cosmo: 😏
Amber: The entire squad can’t all have pushy parents and intense girlfriends
Amber: ⚽⭐🏆🥂🤵
Cosmo: You’re doubling down on the whole stalker thing then, yeah
Amber: The positives speak for themselves
Cosmo: Maybe you’ll be offered a better place to do your homework
Amber: for when you’re spending your weekends in a better postcode and Dash’s room’ll have to be off-limits unless I make no noise and write my essays in the dark
Cosmo: Of course
Cosmo: unless you really wanna explain wtf you’re doing to my nan
Amber: Is the 🍊 thing real? To win over your friends, not your grandma, necessarily
Amber: I’d go for a different fruit in that case
Cosmo: It’s more of a thing when you’re a kid but it’s not not a thing
Cosmo: And fruit baskets too, very retro
Amber: okay, there’s my in
Amber: using the wonky ones would help my cause if we’re pretending to your nan I’m in that dire need of sanctuary, but find out her favourites, if she’s not gonna fall for the SOS
Cosmo: Would you rather not be incognito
Cosmo: She might think you’re Dash’s girlfriend or something
Amber: It wouldn’t take long to correct the assumption, but I only would if I had to, like, if she’s suddenly scared she’s living somewhere haunted
Cosmo: Wonky veg at the ready 👍
Amber: Always
Amber: but I’m actually excellent at hiding, which makes me sound how old? 3 maybe
Cosmo: It makes you sound deluded, definitely
Cosmo: I found you well easy
Amber: Because I wanted you to
Cosmo: Not me
Amber: yes you, Dash enters a room very differently, I knew it wasn’t him
Cosmo: You didn’t know me, you couldn’t want me to
Amber: You’ve heard of curiosity, right? I didn’t have to know you to want to find out who you were
Cosmo: I’ve not got 9 lives 🐈
Amber: that you know of
Cosmo: You think that’s a theory to test?
Amber: I’m not dangerous, remember
Cosmo: Allegedly
Amber: You can allegedly run away at the speed of light and even though you haven’t bragged about it, could probably also pick me up and throw me out 💪🏽⭐️
Cosmo: I’m not going to do that
Amber: I’m not a test
Cosmo: Debatable
Amber: Today’s events, maybe, but that isn’t what you should define me by
Cosmo: It’s okay, I won’t
Cosmo: we said we were even, I meant it
Amber: make your mind up on Saturday when I test your patience by trying on every dress I like and ask you what you think
Cosmo: That’s your prerogative
Cosmo: delegated to the bench with the other men
Amber: 🥼👖👓 I know you have the money to get a new outfit too because you were willing to give it to me twice
Cosmo: I might
Amber: I won’t tell you what I think if that’s what’s putting you off 😶
Cosmo: I think I can handle your fashion critiques 🤣
Amber: Because I don’t have any fashion sense or because yours is ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ and above criticism?
Cosmo: We have different styles
Cosmo: I’m not going to dress like a stoner, you’re not gonna dress like a WAG
Amber: Like a stoner? Really?
Cosmo: I went for the male and female equivalents
Cosmo: so you can’t pout
Amber: Yes I can, you’ve seen me in 1 outfit, which I wore to climb through a window
Cosmo: And I ain’t said nothing bad about it
Amber: there’s nothing complimentary in the tone of us having different styles when you follow it up with I’m not gonna dress like you
Cosmo: Are you going to get your own footie strip? No
Cosmo: It wasn’t an insult, not towards you
Amber: If they weren’t ridiculously expensive, I would, if only because it would annoy you now
Cosmo: Now that sounds 👶
Amber: it’d be worth it to see your face
Cosmo: 🙄😏
Amber: Besides, we’re the same age, I don’t have anything to prove
Cosmo: Am I a test?
Amber: you’re a boy I wanna know, it’d put me to the test if you hadn’t said no already
Cosmo: Somehow I doubt that’s ever been a challenge for you
Amber: I don’t see it as a challenge, no means no, and if you change your own mind, it means you’re open to it and there’s no obstacles to get over
Cosmo: A PC response but a fair one
Amber: I can’t complain when boys take my no for a maybe if I do the same, and I don’t like it, so keeping my mouth shut would be hard
Cosmo: Your mind just jumps to some weird places
Cosmo: I just said we’d make no sense as friends
Amber: That’s your mind leapfrogging to the strangest possible place
Amber: thinking all your friends have to be like you
Cosmo: It’s easier
Cosmo: like you and your school friends, you already put your foot in it
Cosmo: that doesn’t happen when you’re the same
Amber: Nothing happens when you’re the same, nothing ever changes
Cosmo: You want things to change for you, it makes sense for you
Amber: why don’t you?
Cosmo: Why would I?
Cosmo: I’m set up in ways people would kill for
Amber: Why wouldn’t you, even if you love everything that’s happening in your life right now, change can still be good
Cosmo: I’m not anti change
Cosmo: as long as it’s in the right direction
Amber: and I’m the wrong direction?
Cosmo: No, you’re like
Cosmo: a completely different path
Cosmo: we run parallel
Amber: I’m not gonna force you down any paths
Cosmo: I know
Cosmo: and I know it’s rude
Cosmo: but it’d be ruder to waste your time, I think
Cosmo: and I don’t want to do that
Amber: What do you wanna do?
Cosmo: I don’t know
Amber: I can go by myself on Saturday, to make things easier
Cosmo: There’s no need
Cosmo: It’s not like we need to be besties to do that
Amber: besties
Amber: maybe if we were 👶🏽
Cosmo: Well exactly, you get my point
Cosmo: we can just
Cosmo: be aware of each other
Amber: Thanks for not asking me to become unaware of you
Cosmo: Be unfair of me to ask when I won’t
Amber: and when you hate when I pout
Cosmo: That too
Amber: you’d especially hate being at school with me, pouting’s all I do
Cosmo: I thought you liked it? 🤓
Amber: I like learning new things, but not how many new things there are that I have to, what feels like all the time
Amber: progress doesn’t just apply to fitness, I wanna see some with this
Cosmo: That’s understandable
Cosmo: It’s a lot, leavers cert
Cosmo: Do you get any help or whatever?
Amber: Extra work whenever I ask for it, but none of the teachers are expecting me to still be here by the time we take exams, which means I’m another school’s problem or success story, and that could be a different country, so they aren’t gonna work hard to get me through leavers cert, are they?
Cosmo: No, I guess not
Cosmo: They should but you’re right they probably won’t
Cosmo: Do you think you’ll be here?
Amber: No, we’ve been here for months already
Cosmo: If you was leaving you’d be gone already, like
Cosmo: Maybe get another student to tutor you
Cosmo: they’re better than teachers ‘cos they’ll let you know what you actually need to know to do well on the tests
Amber: We’re not leaving while my parents are happy and feel needed but nobody at the commune wants summer schooling and my dad will get restless
Amber: but that’s a good idea while I am, I’ll find someone
Cosmo: I’m not smart enough or I would
Cosmo: I just did what I had to to coast by but it’s not the focus
Amber: You don’t have the time, boy
Cosmo: True
Cosmo: Speaking of
Amber: Oh sorry! 🤓 rant over
Cosmo: You’re alright, I need to actually get a decent workout in now though or it doesn’t really count
Cosmo: Saturday though, yeah
Amber: I’ll be at the phonebox at [just before whatever time he said]
Cosmo: 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Cosmo: You’ll remember what I look like and not get in a random car, right?
Amber: I’m not a goldfish
Amber: and if I did forget I’d stalk your 🏋🏽📷
Cosmo: Oh right, I forgot you were a dedicated creeper
Amber: I wouldn’t be 😠 if you did
Cosmo: Too bad 😏
Amber: goodbye x 9
Cosmo: 👋
