As someone with a lot of siblings I can say that the most unrealistic part of the loud house imo (besides yk time travel and allat) is how the Louds can just talk. They never really interrupt each other, the parents actually listen to their kids talking to them all the time as if they don't have anything better to do, when they're somewhere together (e.g. eating) it seems there's only 1 conversation at a time, they listen, hear each other loud and clear and don't just jump from topic to topic because everyone just wants to talk about their own interests. Even as a kid it pmo how unrealistic that is, tho maybe i was just jealous cuz i want that too. They got that with 11 kids, my family only has 7 and we can't have that??? Unfair.

"Attention deficit" really speaks to me tbh, that episode was actually realistic in this sense, and before i started typing that i didn't even realise that lol- but that was another example of something that never happens in the show but in the episode it's portrayed like it always happens for the sake of the plot. So yeah it's only a 1 episode typa thing.

anyway. for the LONGEST time i thought we were going to make the "absorbing kemuri's soul" thing his trigger event so that he could have the smoke powers, but.... honestly in comparison to everything else that moment was not NEARLY traumatizing enough

the reason i like this specific event as his second trigger is like. its SO fucking similar to his first. in his first trigger event, he fell off the cliff. he was still alive at the bottom, but unable to move or speak or call for help. he was stuck there for [x amount of time] but never actually triggered until someone found him and took him back. in this.... he literally gets torn in fucking half. but hes still alive. he can feel it, he knows whats happening, its the most terrifying and painful and miserable thing hes ever been through. again, he cant move. he cant talk. he cant call for help. the others dont even realize hes still alive at first, so he can hear them screaming. he still doesnt trigger until.. dakota. dakota, who can Feel it. dakota, who rushes into the danger zone as soon as he's able to and knows hes alive and desperately tries to push him back together, the whole time crying about "its gonna be okay, we'll fix it, you're gonna be okay" and just. desperately trying to do anything. THATS when he triggers.

the thing is thoughhhh. i dont think the second trigger is what actually heals him. i think he triggers and every single one of the capes in that clearing goes down for the vision, INCLUDING muse. wraith is one of the first ones to come back to consciousness but. hes still fucking torn in half! he can feel this horrible new power but he cant do anything about it because hes still got his guts all over the forest floor! uhhhh for the way he gets healed theres maybe a couple options,,, either trickster also gets the vision and thinks its hilarious that he caused a trigger event and has muse stitch wibby up himself or likee... he has to stay like that until they beat trickster and get ashe back and then they have to keep ashe in his breaker state until he fixes william. or theres some sort of.. before they beat trickster or whatever they force him to control muse into fixing him. IDK. something along those lines.

AS FOR HIS POWERS...... IDK. i dont know what they would be. i want them to be sort of like. functionally similar to the smoke powers i guess???? but maybe not explicitly the same. i still want him to be able to give xavier and david fucking awful horrible nightmare visions. i think that would probably fall under either master or shaker category????? IDK help me out with this one. also like u said before we're gonna have to fuck with the timeline and have at least the belltech part of greyscale happen after the muse final battle. which. ohhh my god i have a lot of feelings about that for the freedom city wards especially. oaugh.

at first, sieun was annoyed at you.

i mean, he’s been working almost his whole life, over a decade to be the best of the best, the top of his class, then you waltz in and ruin everything.

and the worst part? you'd barely noticed.

in fact, you had been so painfully oblivious to the fact that he absolutely despised you, that when you bumped into him in the hallway, you not only smiled, but attempted to have a conversation with him.

"oh my gosh, i'm so sorry," you turned around just as swiftly as you were walking back to your class, only to recognize the person you'd bumped into. "sieun, right?"

he didn't confirm nor deny, simply staring at you blankly. you didn't let his lack of response deter you though, "i'm sorry for bumping into you, but it's crazy we've never talked! i'm pretty sure we're like, tied for the top of the class." you shrugged, "pretty cool. anyway, we should hang sometime! maybe we can exchange study tips?" you wiggled your eyebrows at him jokingly before bidding a farewell.

to say sieun was shocked was a complete understatement.

he was so used to the competitive culture of the classroom (him always ending up on top of course), that meeting someone not only as smart as him, but as friendly as you was.. not normal, to say the least.

as you slid the door open to your shared classroom, all the dislike and annoyance towards you melted from his heart, like an icicle drip dropping down to form a river of flushed feelings on the way to a sea of past emotions.

he made his way back to the classroom and since it was almost the end of lunch time, the desks were filled with chattering students, and amongst them was you- headphones on, scribbling down on a paper that had been left on your desk.

he sat at his seat, not breaking contact with your figure just a row ahead of him.

well, he wasn't annoyed at you anymore, that's for sure.

after that instance, sieun began to take more and more notice of you, but in a different way than what he had before. everytime you raised your hand to answer a question (beating him to it), he noticed how the pitch of your voice would raise a bit at the end, almost like you were unsure if you were correct or not- but you were. you always were.

your fingers would skillfully spin your pen under your desk and if it had been any other student they'd have been scolded, but since you're as smart as you are, the teachers let it slide, but that didn't stop it from being any less of a distraction to him. your fingers were so pretty and looked so soft, he wondered how they'd feel in comparison to his? interlaced with his own, even?

from your eyes that would robotically scan the papers handed to you, to the way your uniform framed your body as if it was perfectly tailored for you, he suddenly took notice of it all. even though it had just been a week or two since you both talked, he could not get you out of his head.

even now as he was supposed to be studying, he found it hard to focus on anything but you, only thoughts of you, you, you- "-ieun?"

he looked up in shock, eyes immediately meeting yours

"i was... just wondering if you wanted to study together after school today? i think it'd be really.." you thought for a bit, "beneficial if we put our heads together."

now normally sieun would not agree to such a request, especially from someone he barely even knows, but since it's you, he thought for a few seconds before subtly nodding his head in agreement.

"great! let's meet outside the school right after. it's a date!" you smile at him before making your way out of the classroom along with the rest of the students.

OK P4 thoughts.... now that it's been like 18 hours...

overall... solid 8.5/10. i loveee murder mysteries

the dynamic between the characters carried the game more than anything

multiple moments where I laughed out loud so s/o to the writers

AND despite guessing the big twist from day one, I was pleasantly surprised by various other twists and turns in the story so yay :)

okay. serious review time but keep in mind im fasting so like these are the rambles from that. i'll start with the positives :)

did not believe jordan when she said i would be adopting these children by the end yet here i am. every single character you met had such a sweet and profound relationship and dynamic with one another... it was so so sweet. truly the high point of the game is how the characters interact. Yukiko and Chie, Rise and Naoto, Rise and Yu, Teddie and Yosuke, Naoto and Kanji... even Yosuke and Yu..... like they were all so so so wonderfully crafted with one another... AND RISE WAS THE SHINING STARRRRR

Dojima and Nanako.... the way i thought they wouldn't have such a big role and then by the end i was crying . yeah. big bro . i love u .

I KNEW IT WAS ADACHI!!!! I LITERALLY CALLED IT FROM DAY ONE!!! DAY ONE!!!! I just couldnt stick why he was choosing the teenagers,.... hence why the twist with Namatane was so fucking good. S/O to Jordan and Fil who had to listen to me scream about how he was the killer without being able to shut me up.

Okay but in all seriousness Teddie becoming human was like the wildest part of the game like did no one else go ??

I NEVER thought I would like the protagonist, at least not more than "he's cool", and yet by the end I was more sad than anything to say goodbye to him!!! i had so much joy playing as him, he was so funny, so loyal, his dialogue options we're just phenomenal. He felt like a real character in his own world despite never even talking. I think I'll miss him the most/

Kanji's treatment was actually vileeeee . I hate how they chickened out in the last moment because instead of having a whole discussion abt homophobia internalized and otherwise you've just created a homophobic ass arc in the game that serves no purpose. like UGH. just go the full mile!!! go !!! let him understand there's nothing wrong wit him being gay!!! stop backing out!! You quite literally would've had a near perfect arc if you just went that extra mile and didn't make things weird !!!

also naoto........ don't even wanna trudge into the discourse here but he/him Naoto is where I stand idk. his story kinda felt really similar to my own when i was in my teens but... again...Atlus...

hey atlus can you make ONE game where there isn't 10 scenes of teenage boys being creeps or has some form of teenage fan service. please.

so uh. Funny stuff kinda been happenin. apparently a couple friends admitted that i was basically rizzing everyone around me simply by existing ever since the first day of school ?????

yeah sure! the au is basically just… three scenes i have pretty clear visuals for, that short piece being one of them. j made the entire thing up yesterday so it’s not Extremely fleshed out beyond ren and martyn. au takes inspiration from three main sources: 1) third life renchanting dynamic. 2) martyn’s watcher lore. 3) ren’s affinity for fire in last life

i’ll. read more this cuz it’s gonna be a bit long

so. martyn starts with the watchers. they’re, y’know, standard dnd spooky eldritch cult fare for the most part. i don’t rlly know what they want with him, but i know that he's stuck with them and has been stuck for a while. he’s trying to leave but they've got the whole town/area locked down, and so it’s just not feasible to do on his own

the watchers have settled in a city that was abandoned some time ago when it came under siege. they’ve done what they could to stamp out any trace of the city’s original occupants so they could insert themselves and their own patron, but martyn’s not got anywhere else to go, so while he’s looking for something to help him escape he stumbles upon stories of the original city’s patron god

bc of an active attempt to destroy what remained, there’s a lot of holes in what martyn finds. martyn can’t figure out the god’s name, for example, or where he came from or what happened to the city. but martyn finds that he was powerful. he could walk the world like a mortal, and was known to enhance and bless tools or armor, supporting the city’s occupants with gear that never broke and axes that never dulled. he was there when the city fell, too—he defeated their enemies by freezing them, but in the process turned himself to stone. martyn can’t find what happened to the god after that, but the story sticks in his mind

at some point, martyn finds a locked door deep below the city. when he opens it he finds a mostly empty room, minus a fire and… something, just out of the reach of the firelight. it’s weird enough there’s a fire there—who is even tending to it, all the way down here? but weirder still is the fact he can’t see anything else. he grabs a stick and dips it in the fire, and when he holds it up he sees a statue.

he doesn’t know what the god looks like, but he doesn’t need to know to realize just what exactly he’s found

so he looks up into stone eyes and he says listen, we're in a pretty similar spot here, you know. if you can help me get out of here, ill start following you. I'm not really a paladin, but i'll see what i can do. neither of us have better options.

and for a second… absolutely nothing happens. martyn stands in the dark and feels a bit like an idiot. before he can make some self-deprecating comment about talking to ghosts, the fire in the basin goes out entirely. the only glow left is his torch, and then it isn’t. the remaining fire in the basin goes out. the torch in his hand glows brighter, and then one by one, martyn's tools start to glow. his armor, his axe, his sword, each a shimmering purple, alight with the blessing of a god

that boost is enough to help martyn escape the city, flame in hand, though i’m… not totally sure when martyn makes the connection between the torch in his hand and the god he prayed to. i think it’s more likely some watcher says it instead—someone sees him running around with a torch that doesn’t dim and a glowing axe and goes oh shit, he’s freed the red king! and martyn is like i’ve huh. that, and/or ren, attempting to help martyn escape with his life, sets someone spontaneously on fire. maybe a mix of both

once they’ve escaped this becomes martyn and ren traveling montage playing far too much 20 questions which ren is comedically bad at and martyn getting odd looks every time he casually enters a building with a fuck-off huge lantern. after that it becomes a quest to get ren a body of his own!

Also i killed him at one point. (bells did it, sorry 😭)

hate to be that one bitch thats like "oh yeah family is so important" and shit like that because i personally cannot stand my parents or my brother, but for mammatus, his siblings (skrael and the other two ocs i was working on) are whats most important, balance be damned. that was also kind of what played into me killing them that one time but we're good now unless i change my mind

they definitely love those granny candies. like those strawberry ones in the wrappers and butterscotch and peppermints and werthers or whatever theyre called. they just love hard candy.

okay so theyre an oc from toa, so i figure ill just describe his magic. i didn't rlly elaborate on it before. so basically, he can control the weather (similar to skrael, but he can only really make it snow and hail and the like) mammatus can make it rain, he can make hurricanes, tornadoes, etc.

cream - do you prefer tea, coffee, or cocoa?

definitely tea. theyd rather make it themself, too, because they don't want anyone else touching their drinks. also skrael had a habit of stealing sips while they weren't looking which lead to him getting his own cup whenever they made some.

honestly idk why ppl are so interested in Champion? maybe bc they kinda know what he'd be like based on the botw memories and kiiiiinda aoc bc he had a similar situation but it's nOT AOC. squints at the plot. we did something different that started before aoc was even announced (or mizu did and we're working it in) and ik i said that before lol but we have a lot of asks and a lot of miscellaneous info on the blog and it's tough to comb thru.

i think it'll be interesting writing for Champ tho? we did various non asau/non canon things with him before we nailed down the plot and i think we've got a p good idea of his character at this point. ofc it'll become clearer as we write him. i like contrasting him to Wild tho bc Wild is so........ not what Champ is. Champ could have been Wild and Champ is v much "the other guy" to them and it freaks them out a little. but like....... getting to his plot arc. that will be some crazy shit. Mikah's gonna try to fuck up everything and the chain is gonna have to get involved in a major historical event. Mizu has usually been the one to write Champion's parts when we've used him in stuff........ except for that one time. ehehe.

but anyway!!! i like thinking about their gender situation bc trans stuff is My Agenda TM and Wild has v much transed their gender. and i think it weirds Wild and Champ out bc Champ thought he was wholly cis before meeting the chain and he's kinda forced into stereotypes like his whole life has been so he didnt think he had the option of anything else bc of the Expectations yknow. but then there's Wild, free of all the (specific) burdens and anxieties that weigh Champ down and he's thinking like "......can i be like that? is that how it's meant to be?" but the answer to that is fuzzy. bc Wild is a different person! they got a second chance and there are some holdovers from then but they're fundamentally different ppl. it might open up Champ's eyes a little but they're...... so different. unless Champion's whole situation changed, i don't think he'd ever get the chance to experiment with his gender. maybe in private his partners could convince him to loosen up a little but like..... over a decent period of time and being gently introduced to this idea, as well as Champion allowing himself to indulge a little and have something for himself.

well! that's some Thoughts on a boi. characters get easier to gush about as we write them in the context and we haven't had a chance to write Champ yet! it's like we get to know the character more as we write for them.

this song is soooo Peter btw like the opening imagery is rlly evocative of nyc at least in my experience. also the idea of 'ghost roads' in terms of getting lost in the city and "paths not taken". the idea of missed opportunities/the you that made a different decision as dead/a ghost is sooo interesting to me, esp in terms of Peter as a person (think John Locke's theory on personal identity which was super interesting when I studied philosophy and was also used in the good place!!). I write a lot abt peter's separation of the self and spider-man, and I think his essence as a character really resonates with the idea of the past self being 'dead' or maybe even murdered. it's a common trope in superhero media for the protagonist to mourn or 'kill' the person they were before they put on the mask but I won't wax lyrical abt it LMAO I just think there's some interesting ideas in there in terms of character.

the chorus is v similar actually - esp in terms of the train imagery which reminds me of the nyc subway, which in turn relates to the working class, and routes peter's character in the poverty that is a huge part of his identity AND also in terms of not being able to 'belong' anywhere/having to constantly be moving so people don't know his identity. Peter and the idea of 'responsibility' also take up. so much space in my head in the way that he treats debt - esp to other people and to the city as a whole. I read a rlly interesting article actually abt Peter and an 'unpayable debt' which I cant find rn but I'll have to go looking for lol... Peters commitment to the 'job' and/or guilt that comes with it is a huge part of him and what he considers morally "right" - which the line about not being able to keep promises rlly reminds me of !! 'The whistle knows my name' is SOOO spider-man tho like maybe in terms of Peter not really knowing who he is without spider-man, and particularly tom!Peter in that he doesn't have anything OUTSIDE of spiderman ; the 'whistle' (aka the call to responsibility) really would know his name in this context bc 1. no one else does and 2. spiderman is perhaps the only thing of his former life he has left. THIS IDEA IS ALSO IN THE BRIDGE WHERE THE SPEAKER TALKS ABT BEING FORGOTTEN.... omg so sad I cant

the 2nd verse is where things get interesting for me bc there's the introduction of a new voice and the pov changes if I was to convert this to fanfic... this ( for me ) is the reader talking to Peter. this idea of never being young (his youth was proverbially 'robbed' by grief/the responsibility of being spider-man) and never growing old (spider-mandom is dangerous asfuck youse...) as well as this theme of protection is smth u dont see much in s-m films. The hero is the protector and the love interest is the protected, we dont get to see the reverse which is a shame bc it would be super refreshing (@ marvel u see zendaya 's hand on toms hip give us that in the films pls). I write a lot of the reader taking on the 'protector'/caretaking role bc I just think it's rarer than the whole 'damsel in distress' cliche u get w the films and this verse is exactly the vibe I would go for ???

SORRY FOR WAFFLING I JUST RLLY CONNECTED W THIS ONE ANYWAY IN SUM: id write smth sad asf along the same lines as 'honey dont feed me' but while hdfm(iwcb) is more angry on the reader's part and their relationship is more dysfunctional - I think this would work well earlier in that relationship, before their break up. I'd go for a classic "reader patches up s-m" fic but with more on the side of wishing things were different for Peter. ive looked at Pete's relationship w s-m and quitting in drown it out, but I think if this was in hdfm(iwcb)-verse he's more inclined to bury his head in the work and treat it more like a Kantian duty?? yes a heaping pile of angst >:) I'd be more likely to use tom!Peter tho I think , I write a lot of universal/"penn cinematic universe" Peter but tom's circumstances would fit better imo

coffee, tea, or hot chocolate: i rlly like coffee but its a trigger food bc of my chronic illnesses n makes me rlly sick so i can't rlly have it all that often anymore D: (plus i kinda overdid coffee in like my v early teens so that might have smth to do w it??) but i also rlly love green teas!! though sometimes those r an mcas trigger for me dhdjdhs ): i'm not too fond of hot chocolate bc most hot chocolates tend to be too sweet for me and i can't have regular milk (also a trigger food shdhs) but when i make it myself i rlly like that too!!

dogs or cats: i rlly love both dogs n cats!! i'm most similar to cats though so like i guess i relate to cats more?? but dogs r so precious n sweet ｡ﾟ(ﾟ´ω`ﾟ)ﾟ｡ i currently have both a cat and a dog too :3 (though my cat will be staying w my mum for abt a year when i move so then it'll just be my dog and i for a while!)

blankets: aa i rlly love blankets but certain fabrics are mcas triggers for me so i can only do rlly specific ones skdjsjd,, my temperature regulation is rlly bad and i'm nearly always freezing so if theres a blanket available i'll go wild abt it!!

dream trip: i don't think i rlly have a dream trip?? i prefer travelling around times that aren't too like hot temperature wise tho!! n i mostly prefer less warm countries! (high temperatures and sun are both things that trigger different parts of my chronic illnesses) aa and then i mostly prefer like adventure type things in the form of going to nature places n like exploring ruins n that but like in a calm pace?? oh also to preferably stay in like a little cabin type place or a b&b rather than like a big hotel!!

Basically a review of OP episode 503 ig

Currently rewatching post-war arc (in the dub so I don't have any screenshots for u guys sry) and theres a few things id like to point out.

During a conversation Dadan once had with Garp, they were talking about Roger. Garp said that even if they were facing powerful enemies, he would never run away because he wouldnt dare leaving his comrads behind; it wasnt an option for him. Obviously we see this in Ace. But ALSO, isnt this what he did with Katakuri? It was a little different cuz of the setting mostly, but he separated himself from his crew to fight off katakuri, and lied to them about being okay so they didn't worry (he was already getting his ass kicked by then, so he just made that stupid smile and told them not to worry (or smth like that, I can remember the exact line) (that smile was so gross and fake cuz he fucking sucks at lying). Also he said roger destroyed a buncha soldiers cuz they mouthed off his men. That's what Ace tried to do but instead he died. :(

"The pain he went through just made him hold on tighter to the ones he loved" -Garp, about Roger. "Despite his flaws and his bad reputation, his crew still trusted him completely." -also Garp, about Roger. These both sound a lot like Luffy AND Ace.

When Dogra got home and told everyone about Sabo's ship being shit down and him dying (which we all know didnt happen, thank fuck), (by the way the absolutely lost looks on Ace's and Luffy's faces with the sudden silence hurt like a bitch), Luffy started crying and said "WE SHOULDNT'A LET HIM GO, IT'S ALL OUR FAULT". Which fucking says something about him (thinking of episodes 913-915 when he goes fucking berserk, but before that he learns that Kaido probably killed Tama and he says "I should've escorted them..!" (*ugly cries*)). Ace also reacted pretty similarly-- "Sabo...why didn't we go back into town and bring him back here?! We're so stupid!" And he gets mad and asks where he could find the bastard that killed him (obviously not getting a good answer since it was a fucking celestial dragon ugh). That is what Luffy does, in present time. He results to anger first, not sadness. Not sure when he learned to do that but I'm 99 percent sure it was from Ace. Also the blaming himself thing? High chance thats ALSO from Ace. Who else would teach him that self hating behaviour?!

Dadan pins Ace down to stop him from going after the Celestial Dragon to calm him down, telling him he cant do anything, he's not big or strong enough to do anything and he'll be killed as soon as he tries anything, especially since it was the whole country -the whole WORLD- that killed Sabo. He can't do anything. And then they tied him to a tree outside to let him cool off. Oh yeah then he also told luffy to stop crying like a little girl or else he'll- (and he didn't finish the sentence). ...Ok maybe thats why luffy started being more angry than sad.

This is where things get a little more :( . Ace reads the letter Sabo sent them before he died. As he reads, he walks to the end of the forest, to a cliff overlooking the ocean. And starts fucking bawling (btw the voice actor who had Ace's childhood part did not do a very good job, no where near as in character and real as Coleen Clickenberg did with all of Luffy's crying scenes. She was spot on.) ...do you see where im going with that? He isolated himself before letting himself feel sad. It was all rage and then calm beforehand. Y-you see where im going with that. Dont make me say it.

"How's Luffy doing, is he any better?" "Well...he hasnt been eating much, but he still eats twice as much as we do". Oh look, That's what happened after Ace died too. There's a behavioral pattern that hasnt gone away. Not sure why it wouldve tho.

Luffy is mopeing, lying on the ground in a similar setting ace was at when he cried. Hes thinking about some of the things Sabo said, like how theyre gonna sail the seas together, and he clenches his hands into tight, shaking fists. After Ace shows up and hits him, and talking abt some other stuff I don't feel like relaying, Luffy tightens his grip on the straw hat and tells ace, whimpering, he wants to get stronger (and stronger, and stronger, and stronger and stronger and....) And he wants to be the strongest in the world. "And then, I'll protect everyone. I won't lose anyone I care about". He gets stronger mainly to protect the people he loves. And then he asks ace to promise he won't die. To which he hits Luffy again and tells him he should be more worried about himself dying first. And then the famous line that hurts like a bitch- "I'm NEVER going to DIE!" And then this hopeful music comes on (fucking damnit funimation, u gotta do this? Really??) Also he says he wont die as long as he has a wussy little brother to protect. ...FUCK. Ok, the fist clenching is a thing he does all the fucking time, usually when he gets mad. This was different because he wasnt mad, he was sad. He clenched his fist because thinking about it hurt. Which, huh, sounds a lot like his whole episode after waking up from his 2 week coma on the polar tang. To try and stop the mental pain of those horrendous memories, he resulted to physically pain. He hurt himself. So, He clenches his fists in times like these to fight off the mental pain and the urge to cause himself physical pain. Guys, our boy is bad at emotions, help him. ....ok this paragraph is longer than I anticipated so ill dumb down the rest of it ig. Next part, him asking ace to promise he wont die. The music, the body language, the over change in mood- this comforts him. He stopped hiding his face and silently sobbing after ace said this. OH YEAH! didn't he tell jinbe not to die when they parted ways in Totto Land? And then, hes missing still in Wano and we see Luffy is worried....but convinced Jinbe will show up. Again, this comforts him. Hes nervous cuz someone KOFF KOFF ACE broke that promise once. But jinbe is his crew mate so he trusts him, thank god.

"-But whoever did it, they must be opposed to freedom." The whole freedom thing? That runs through Luffy's blood and spirit.His brothers fought for it, his dad is the man who strives to give everyone freedom basically, and Luffy himself has seen enough of the OPPOSITE of freedom to be so, so much more than just against it. Hence why he of course was so eager to free the slaves in Sabaody, the kids in punk hazard, the toys in dressrosa, the country of Wano from Kaido's tyrany. The apple doesnt fall far from the tree huh.

I dont think Luffy would remember his promise with Shanks if it werent for his brothers putting feul to his dream. It was a stupid bet at first; he just wanted to beat Shanks, right then. But after meeting Sabo and Ace, he found the opposite of freedom and human rights. And then he wanted, REALLY wanted, to become the free-est man in the world; the pirate king.

Last one i promise ok? This one is less connected to whats going on in the episode at this point, but something I noticed (its so obvious everyone has seen this ok) was when luffy cries, his posture is always open. He doesn't curl in on himself like many people would do (I know I would, lol). He doesnt hug himself, protect himself. He's just, opened up to whoever is watching, literally. This has a little more to do with something I haven't talked about much in this post yet; his self-destruction issues. I said he tried to hurt himself when he felt mental pain, which is definitely similar. But he cries and doesnt try to protect or comfort himself, like he doesn't have that programmed into his mind. Reminder that he only wants to live because of his dream, and if he doesnt have his dream, he wants to die. (Whoa.). Ok, so no self preservation mechanism at all rlly. Hes basically ride or die. So, when things hurt so much that he cries, he has no hope left. He just kinda...dies inside. So this was mildly different after sabo died. Yes we saw him just standing there, sobbing. But the next day he's still crying, and instead he's laying on the ground. I saw that and the voice in the back of my head told me he wanted to be a part of that lifeless dirt beneath him. Then, Ace walked over. And his words made him feel the hope that I told you about earlier, and he sat up into a sitting position. And HUGGED HIS LEGS TO HIS CHEST. There's some self preservation! Some hope! Some will to exist, to live! Something we saw none of as he sat in front of his brothers corpse, shutting down. He sat there, open to his enemies, incapable of protecting himself. Practically anyone couldve killed him right then and there. I think he mightve liked that, at that moment. Like thank god he has that stupidly good luck cuz if he didn't I swear someone couldve thrown and axe or FUCKING ANYTHING AT THAT MOMENT and hed be dead becuase he never physically or mentally prepared himself. On purpose.

Our poor boy needs some fucking attention and therapists. (Insert my rant post about how jinbe is on the crew primarily for anger management and therapy, not just being a helmsman.) Ugh, smh ugly cries

Aaaaand thats about the end of the episode. Theres so many little tics and peesonality traits that you notive thru this episode, and I only noticed them cuz im rewatching this part of the show for like the third time. I don't react as much as the first time of course but some things are definitely sadder after knowing what's going on and what will happen later on.

Moral of the story (post)? I think luffy is almost equally as alike -if not, more similar to roger as ace is. Also, high key genuinely think Luffy met like NO ONE but Garp before he met Shanks and his crew. What the fuck was his first like 5 years of being alive like? (He wantd to be a pirate cuz Garp didnt want that. Rebellious baby asshole. And then shanks made things worse, in a good way for luffy. And then ace and sabo made that worse thing worse for a good reason. Luffy lives...for those influences. And that is fucking it. Why.

hi, i hope u don't mind me asking 4 advice? recently i've found it hard 2 connect w my best mate bc even tho he's been w me thru thick & thin and been rlly supportive, he never shows any emotions & it makes me feel shitty. he's dependable and always wants what's best 4 me but that means he never wants anything from me & it feels like we're not even friends, just that he's a therapist or a wall to lean on. i can't force him 2 b emotional & he must care but it feels like there's no love btwn us :(

ofc!! you (and anyone else) can ask for advice whenever needed and i’ll do my best to help xx i understand what you’re going through, i’ve had friendships similar to what you described and honestly the only thing you can do is just let him know that he can talk to you if he needs to and that you’re also there for him the same way he is for you. let him know that he doesn’t always have to give to you, he’s also allowed to receive. a lot of people can get into this mindset where they think they can’t be emotional because it’s a burden on the other person, so make sure you validate his emotions and let him know that you WANT to be somebody he can depend on and trust with his emotions. it might take a while for him to be super open because once you’re in a state of being emotionally closed off, it is difficult to open back up again, but if you just keep making sure he knows he can trust you and confide in you, i’m sure he will gradually become more openly emotional. respect his boundaries, but don’t let him feel like his emotions aren’t valid or worthy of being acknowledged. i hope this helps and that all goes well between you two 💓

hey no worries! i didn't miss the notification for this but i was in the last week of my semester, so i didn't have the chance to respond until now.

im very glad to hear that u dont think izzy's smarter than ed or that izzy is the brains behind blackbeard. tbh, i feel like we actually have a pretty similar read on how ed and izzy have been operating for the past several years?? the only difference is i don't think ed's so much a "math major that can't count" as he is "math major who used to count, but outsources the job now because he's bored."

basically, i think everything izzy's doing is stuff ed used to do with no problem. it's very strongly implied that izzy started working for ed after ed became blackbeard, meaning ed was kicking ass long before he brought izzy on to help as a middle manager. and the reason i think ed isn't doing this stuff anymore is bc ed has been so bored with piracy, he hasn't been giving it full attention in years. it's easy for him to forget simple details bc he hasn't been paying attention to the little details. he might occasionally get bursts of inspiration, but because raids and stuff practically run themselves, he's not as dialed in to the daily minutiae the way he used to be. and also, bc izzy struggles a lot with creativity and improvising, i really think that any fine-tuning of the details are things ed knows are boring fine-tuning details that izzy can handle, and not huge gaps that ruin the whole plan (episode 4 being the exception that proves the rule, bc if ed was rlly always relying on Big Important Details to be someone else's problem, blackbeard would've been caught or killed a long time ago)

now. the racism.

so the thing with my original post is i'm not so much talking about individual fans and their interpretations, but rather about an overall trend i've seen in this fandom. and within this fandom, there are a lot of fans who are more generous towards their interpretation of izzy's intelligence/skills than they are towards ed.

i guess taika waititi is white-passing??? im white, so it is absolutely not my place to debate "how nonwhite does someone have to look before people can be racist towards them," so i'm not gonna get into that. but i will say that within this fandom (and on tumblr in general), taika's race is common knowledge. like you said, you didn't notice ed was a person of color until you got on tumblr. if someone is actively engaging with the ofmd fandom on tumblr, they're going to find out that taika is Māori pretty quick, if they didn't already know.

so. from a fandom-wide perspective. the fandom is aware that ed is a poc. and there's a substantial amount of fans that interpret izzy as the real genius behind blackbeard, despite the fact that this is directly contradicted by the show. your interpretation of ed being smarter than izzy didn't come from nowhere; that's literally the conclusion we're supposed to draw. how much izzy actually helps is somewhat up to interpretation, but the fact that so many people in this fandom, where the fact that ed is a poc is common knowledge, misinterpret the show to think izzy is smarter than ed can only be the result of people's racist biases. how conscious and intentional these biases are, i don't know. most likely the vast majority of people who think izzy is smarter aren't aware of how strongly their biases are warping their view of this show. but this is a noticeable trend in this fandom. one or two incorrect interpretations is one thing, but i've seen this take way too much for so many people to be reading the show so wrong just by coincidence or by accident.

i'm not trying to assume maliciousness. to me, the word maliciousness suggests way more intent than what i think is actually happening here. if anything, i'm assuming people with this interpretation have come to their racist conclusions out of ignorance, not maliciousness. but just because people don't mean to be racist, aren't aware of their own racism, or are completely ignorant to how this interpretation is racist, doesn't mean that it's not a very disturbing trend to see.

tl;dr: izzy might help ed iron out some details in plans, but interpretations of izzy as the real genius behind blackbeard are directly in contradiction of the show. the prevalence of this interpretation in this fandom is a direct result of implicit biases.

idk i just find it very interesting how so many people's take on pre-canon ed and izzy is "ed comes up with crazy plans and izzy figures out the logistics of actually executing them" as if 1. izzy doesn't literally say he considers blackbeard to be The Most Brilliant Sailor He's Ever Met (implying that blackbeard was already successfully kicking ass before he and izzy even met AND that ed's pulled off incredible plans that have impressed izzy before), and 2. we literally never see izzy succeed at anything in the entire show. none of his plans work out the way they want to and more often than not they completely backfire on him

(the ONE time you could argue that izzy got what he wanted is when he got ed to stop dressing in stede's clothes and go back to being blackbeard, but considering that he lost a toe for that and also only succeeded by threatening to kill ed, it really doesn't make me want to side with team "izzy is the REAL genius behind blackbeard")

but no, ed is the illogical one. ed is the one who relies entirely on izzy to keep everything running. ed is the one who would fall apart without izzy. sure. ok. tell me u have implicit biases about the intelligence of poc without telling me u have implicit biases about the intelligence of poc .
