Lord of the Rings as a reprise of the Silmarillion

Well ok, not a reprise in the sense of "same song, just with small tweaks" but as" same motifs, but in places where they fit much better and the whole thing is more [excuse me, I lack a word. Better? Happier? None of those fully fits]". Recapitualization? I think this is the more classical music term. But I like the word "reprise".

We have a character falling into fire with The Object, but this time it solves something, and still it's not perfect, poor little wretched creature, but it does accomplish something, as opposed to only removing something beautiful from anyone's reach.

We have a character challenging a Dark Lord to fight, but this time it worrks, it results in distraction, not destruction.

Someone asks Galadriel for her hair and nobody is a jerk about it.

A Man marries an Elf and they live peacefully, and so do their kids.

There is a quest and nobody makes any rush oaths (thanks Elrond!).

More of a stretch, but we have... This may be the fault of movies and fanart but I do see some vibe match: Frodo&Sam as Mae&Maglor (both have the Object; one jumps into water because loyalty; one [almost] jumps into fire). Legolas, Aragorn and Gimli have some 3C vibes (pretty guy with bow, Just A Guy, a guy associated with craftsy Aule-like stuff) but they are not jerks, very much not so. And blame the movies where Merry&Pippin are pranksters, and the fanon where Ambarussar are basically the Weasley twins, but. and Gandalf is cool, associated with fire and dies on a Balrog. But he comes back. And they all are good and succeed. (sorry, Boromir, I can't match you to the pattern, let's say this is your punishment for trying to take the Ring ;) )

I'm not saying it's all intentional on Tolkien's part, just that I see it there.

Yes, I do have some tropes that I obsess about, and this is not even a legit trope, I'm sorry.

I love this. I love this aestethics, or feeling, or whatever you call this, I love recontexttualization, I love when things change in repeat — it's a sad song butt we're gonna sing it anyway — I very much love a similar thing, which excuse me, but should be a trope, should be done more often but is not, the thing where there's a quote and it seems sad, depressing, hopeless even but then you learn the wider context and it's the opposite— and yes, surely there could be just a happy quote from the start but it would lack the moment when your brain goes "a-ha!!!" on it, and I love this moment, it is such a beautiful feeling. When things suddenly are revealed to be the opposite of what they seemed and it's a good thing. Why is this thing not a trope? Like, when people write books and chapter titles, mottos— why don't people do this?

(Like eucatastrophe but instead of "suddenly Eagles!" it's more of a "it's not what I thought it was", like a mental focus shift, a recognition. But it's always been there, not suddenly flew in. (No offense to the Eagles.)).

It's a sad song.

I'm still laughing about how when my mom and I saw Hadestown a week ago and we were talking to some random lady at intermission who was apparently having a hard time following the story, my mom was like "It's such a happy story" (not serious) and the lady agreed. i totally understand the preference for the sound of concatenative vocal synths vs deep learning based ones (dl i find is often a lot weaker than concatenative, even in voicebanks meant for powerful singing. although they can also be more tonally expressive in ways concatenative struggles with. but of course sometimes you just want the metallic sound which is easier to get concatenatively compared to dl's more autotune-y noise) BUT i do often see people say its because theyre worried about more same-y sounding tuning from the auto pitch creation functions which i get but also it does make me giggle a little because have you forgotten the endless plug-and-play war going on from the past 20 years. have you forgotten the millions of untuned covers uploaded every day since the dawn of vocal synthesis. have you forgotten the autopitchwriter debate. the more things change the more things stay the same <3

hey babymon, don't you think jojo could have seen all of sea's countless phone calls with a half-naked force, seen sfk interview and thought 'damn it, this should work', seen crying boys on lol and got a vision of the most untethered drama with ex-bfs? in any case, im crazy and have repeatedly reviewed ep in search of clues. sea is a musician and he would really suit first as a bf (but god forbid forcing first to sing, this is clearly not his strong suit)

i mean casting can be a very long and complicated process that actually involves a lot of people, and unfortunately the director doesn't always have the last word in it (if the executive producer pulls rank in the final choice then there isn't much that anyone can do), but directors know what to look for between actors, they know when two people just - for lack of a better word - click. p'x decided to pair jimmy and sea up just by watching them interact with each other outside of an official audition, which was a big gamble, but it paid off

this may sound a bit creepy, but directors are ALWAYS watching, because that's a big part of their job: to watch and really see what works and what doesn't, not only on-camera but off it too. sand's ex may not be one of the main characters of the show, but potentially is someone who's gonna have scenes with both sand and top, so i have no doubt that p'jojo spent a good amount of time observing all the people interacting with first and force to understand which one could work better with them

and you know, im not saying sea is the only one who could fit the role, but also it's undeniable that he is close to force and that he has a surprisingly natural chemistry with first SOOOOOOO. NOT TO REPEAT MYSELF AND BE AN INSUFFERABLE CLOWN BUT SEA AS SAND'S EX IS SO REAL
