Look, I know one shouldn't be so harsh on how badly it was handled that Marinette never has to face any push back from Adrichat for her own massive flaws, and instead she's just validated and all her wrongdoings get swept under the rug
But I still think it's WILD that Marinette in Pretention was made to at least somewhat acknowledge in front of Adrien that her stalking was bad, and yet she straight up justified it by saying "I did it out of love" (which only make her sound MORE like an ex-stalker???) while full blown pouting that she has to even accept that "much" accountability in the first place:
Like, girl, come on. What even IS that? xD
It is almost hilarious how pissed Marinette was written to be about giving such minimal lip service to the character growth the show pretends she had somewhere OFF-SCREEN. She is literally acting like a person who wasn't actually held accountable but was forced into begrudgingly accepting that maybe what they did wasn't as perfectly justified as they thought and now is giving a puddle deep apology they don't truly mean.
---
Marinette only ever apologizes these days when she also has a justification, which makes her apologies sound just like a Youtube Apology Video(™): “I’m sorry if I offended the viewers, but I was totally justified (and therefore would do it again).” She only apologizes to placate the audience. And that scene isn’t even an apology, it’s her giving excuses because Kagami dared to call her out on acting no different from the Adrien fans Marinette herself was criticizing. The showrunners are trying so hard to counter common criticisms of the show to the audience and it shows.
It’s also really obvious that the writers think that “I did it for love” is a suitable excuse. This has always been the distinction between Marinette and the hordes of Adrien groupies the city of Paris is crawling with: Marinette loves him genuinely. All those other people just gush about Adrien and follow him whenever they spot him around town because he’s a hot model while Marinette gushes about him and follows him around because he’s a hot model who was nice to her that one time. Clearly that makes Marinette’s love more pure. Besides, Marinette has already claimed Adrien by the Right of Protagonist, so she has the right to know what he’s doing every moment of every single day while those other people are creepy stalkers.
I also find it hilarious that they make her talk like a recovered ex-stalker when, once again, the writers are claiming something that’s never been shown. There is no evidence Marinette has “recovered” from her stalking habit, because the reason she stopped stalking Adrien isn’t that she had some kind of realization that what she was doing was too far or uncalled for, it is that she stopped having a reason to stalk him. First she isn’t stalking Adrien because she’s convincing herself she’s no longer in love with him. Her not being in love means there’s no reason to stalk Adrien. After that Adrien starts dating her, meaning she already has what she wants: Adrien to herself, so there’s no need to stalk him to make sure no other girl sinks her claws into him. She might not really know Adrien at all, but she at least knows enough to know he’s loyal.
And, like, even after they started dating, Marinette has gone behind Adrien’s back to the Agreste Mansion because he’s “keeping things from her” or because she has to question Nathalie about his whereabouts. This girl is so obsessed with knowing every detail about what Adrien is doing, getting what she wanted only mitigates it. Which is why she’s back to spying on him with binoculars in the sneak peek for the upcoming season 6.

The way Smoked Cheese says "I'm looking forward to it" right after Burning Spice says "your destruction shall be my greatest pleasure" makes me think they want us to believe that he's gonna be on Spice's side. Option 1: it's correct and Smoked Cheese doesn't get redemption, cuz when he's allying with a beast you know he's too far gone, after such a thing it wouldn't make sense either for us nor Goldie to forgive him. Option 2: it's a red herring, he could be saying this as in "I'm looking forward... To seeing you FAIL" or he pretends to be on Spice's side. There's two reasons for me to believe this. One is the end of chapter 18 where Goldie forgives him and he looks sorry for a moment there. The way that that moment was written makes me think that redemption is a logical next step for his character. Two is Mozzarella, it's that she pretended to be by Smoked Cheese's side, only to betray him last second and reveal she was still loyal to Goldie the entire time. So if Smoked Cheese does this, it would be a great way to have us on edge, wondering if he has really committed to the path of a traitor, or if he's fooling all of us, but also it would show that he has learned from his mistakes and learned from Mozzarella as he would be doing the same thing she did to him. I think the second option is more likely cuz i don't see Smoked Cheese being wholly evil as a character. Cuz i feel like, unlike Affogato, a similar character, he doesn't have traits and motivations that makes him as likeable of a villain; so if he is made wholly evil, he'd just be a mean jerk and nobody likes that. Anyway that's my theory i will pull for him no matter what cuz i love him and i have faith in the writers at devsis to make him and all the new characters awesome as hell either way
Edit: i forgot about this while writing, but i do not think Smoked Cheese would want Burning Spice to destroy Golden Cheese. He wants her kingdom for himself, and he's fucking dead and Goldie is the only one who can revive the kingdom, so if she's dead then he's dead and the kingdom's dead. And even if it can be revived through other means, like if Burning Spice will promise Smoked Cheese to revive the kingdom for him to rule, Smoked Cheese will obviously not believe the Beast of Fucking Destruction saying that, like?? So when Smoked Cheese reveals he was fooling Burning Spice all along, he'll be like "don't think I'm doing this for you, Your Radiance, I'm doing this for MY kingdom" and Goldie will be like :") he's still my sweet greedy child.. (not literally, you get what i mean). So those are my predictions

Fanfiction environment right now is like:
"I have taken 2 seconds to leave a like on a 20k post that took you weeks to write and perfect, and that means I may have read the entire thing or I may have just glanced at the summary.
I am going to beg you to make a taglist and then put me on it so I can ignore future fics of yours, stressing you out more and adding another twenty minutes to your posting process. I will still refuse to leave comments on future fics.
I will only comment to complain if your interpretations of the characters are not as fanony, memey, and 2 dimensional as possible, and if you're not going to make a second part of a oneshot that I won't show up to read.
Also - what do you mean you made the man in this smut submissive and bisexual? That's disgusting! But if you accuse me of being homophobic when I point that out, you're kinkshaming me!
So when is your next update?"

alright. playlist for dave and dirk letsgo. some prefacing stuff cause i have a lotta Thoughts abt their relationship and how absolutely unhealthy it is but also how much they wanna be around e/o, and how thats a constant inherent tragidy between them
first up undertale + game over reference for the cover photo because vibes
there are a couple songs in here that are technically what a lotta ppl would consider love songs, like for romantic couples, but im taking them and spinning them on their heads for the context of how i see dave and dirk
the way i see the striders is that they're both struggling with oppositional attachment problems. dave with his emotional estrangement from bro, and dirk with his idolization and wish fulfillment of how he sees a!bro. dirk loves dave. this is an inarguable, textual fact. dave isnt sure how to feel about dirk, not in totality. these problems combined, outside of the meat+candy timelines, i think would play out as the two of them either remaining painfully foreign to each other or - important word useage incoming - enmeshed
the lalondes struggle with similar estrangement/idolization problems, but theres something about the striders and their specific emotional issues that makes their attachment shit go TURBO
they dont know how to approach e/o in a balanced way. its all or nothing for them both. usually 'all' for dirk, and 'nothing' for dave, which feeds into dirk's 'all' and in turn pushes dave further into 'nothing' even when he doesnt actually want that. its a horrible cycle of wanting to actually know each other but not knowing how to think of the other without seeing someone else. they could be completely hands off and not talk to each other at all for months or literally be sharing pockets and talking about rooming together, and those phases transition into e/o quick. and then those plans fall through and it starts all over again. its weird, it aint right, its painful for them both, they just want to be okay around each other, but they dont know how. theyre far too close to cherubic bullshit for me to pass that one up
