Since we're coming to a close with act 1, I felt it would only be appropriate to draw some memes again to celebrate 🎉 I started drawing all of these a few weeks ago but school + my gachas have been pounding my accs with all the banners so....yeah, here🗣️🔥

so uhhh robot boombox au is pretty much just in my brain, i havent posted abt it or anything. but ive got vague ideas about it!

im gonna put bullet points under the cut in no particular order, cause again, this is mostly just concepts, so expect a bunch of yapping

in this au boombox would be created by someone, and was made to be a sort of 'testing device' for a manufactured gear (his boombox). while also being a sort of artificial life based on mimicry.

(note, i am not well versed in robotics stuff, if something seems stupid uhhh whoops)

i havent come up with a creator or creators, but they made him with the intent of seeing if they could basically make an artificial demon that could get along with other demons well! (thats where his creators got the idea to make him a dj, or a glorified mp3 player came from.)

hes entirely mechanical, his power source is through electrical charging. he charges often, which comes across as him sleeping often.

i imagine him with a charger tail that can also somewhat extend.

his visor is literally attached to his face and would be more emotive than regular boombox phighting

i imagine he got let out to interact with other demons, he was given a lot of carefully monitored data, and even now seeks out ways to be more empathetic, and to be responsive to others emotions and to help them.

he doesnt become evil or anything like that

his 'skin' would be some kind of rubber or latex, used to protect internal components and appear more demon-like.

he has two speakers imbedded in his chest, and in the rubber skin there'd be mesh to let sound travel clearer, which happen to look like top scars ( :P )

in place of where a human heart would be, he has an internal metronome, which he can set the tempo of. it can also be heard if youre super close, like a faux heartbeat.

his horns work as a secondary charging method throughout the day, acting like low powered solar panels, (like the ones youd find on calculators).

his horns take in uv light and convert it to energy. amd they are covered with a transparent solid material (imagine something like resin) to give the appearance of a normal demons horn. however this means charging through his tail is much more optimal than the passive uv charging.

has a database in his torso containing specifically music knowledge. audio can be downloaded to there and sorted and dissected to make him work better and understand the tastes of demons

in his heads a mini computer.

his mouth is a simple metal open close rectangle shape, with small components that either make the faux-skin sides of his mouth pull up (to make a smile) or down (to make a frown)

also in this au rgb trio still a thing because i am insane abt them

i imagine skate and sling learn that boombox is a robot, but they still care for him and treat him the same as before

he doesnt 'feel' anything in a person sense, and he hasnt gained sentience or anything. his programming makes it so he's drawn to other demons, and wants to make them happy. and in return, he feels 'happy' when he accomplishes that.

he learns about friends and other relationships and such, and if he has a few people he's especially close to that he can make happy just by being around, it means he's achieving his goal.

so he does have favorites, mostly because he learned that demons tend to have favorite people, and therefore replicated that behavior

he's in a qpr with skate and sling, who r both dating eachother, theyre all very affectionate.

sometimes if he gets too many positive inputs at a time, you can hear his fans running quicker (like, example, his partners are being super sweet to him, verbally or physically.

he doesnt know who made him, nor really cares to find out

when he was made, he was given the knowledge of about a 17 year old, and the mentality of one. he counts his birthdays as aging, being currently 23.

sometimes when him, sling and skate are sleeping together, he'll play calming music directly from himself.

he doesnt sleep, but shuts off non-essential components and kind of pretends to sleep while charging. since he has to be plugged into a socket of sorts. usually during that mode hes sorting any files, or things he's collected. throughout the day

sling and skate dont know that he isnt actually sleeping, and think he's just powered off

his gear works as youd expect, able to play music and use its abilities. he's just also able to directly play music from his body

when being created, he was made first, and the idea of an artificial gear came second. which is why theres overlapping abilities that may seem redundant.

his creators are no longer alive

his creators were from playground

he would likely be 'killed' for having an artificial gear and used for parts if certain people knew (the law)

Yeah same, I'm not much of a writer otherwise I would gladly fix this issue myself. All I can do is hope and pray that some good writers write something for Starnerve that's halfway decent (well- that and beg/pester my friend to do it because they're a good writer lol)

As for recs, I have several, although you've probably read at least some of these. But anyway here are some ancient fics from the days of yore that I really enjoyed, but may or may not be necessarily Starnerve: (under the cut, it's long)

Subconscious by KQSimply: Very well written, it's not really Starnerve but can be read that way. It's pretty dark so fair warning. The author also wrote an additional ending that makes things even darker and bittersweet. (I also highly recommend all of the author's work)

The Curious Feeling of Butterflies by KQSimply: A sweet, short (unfinished) exploration of Fear's one-sided feelings for Joy. I really liked it despite being unfinished, it felt really believable to the characters

One Imaginary Outing by Coffee Fueled Author: An adorable story where Fear and Joy go on a date. (I may or may not have drawn something inspired by this fic- you'll have to go digging for it.) I also recommend Coffee's other fanfic "Out of Place", but it's unfinished so bear that in mind if that bothers you.

A Light in the Darkness by Coffee Fueled Author: A sweet one-shot where Fear has a nightmare and Joy comforts him

Spectrum by cutterjohns: Short and to the point, Fear has a crush on Joy

Emotion Sickness and Fright or Flight by DanniB: These are together because they kind of tie into each other in a really cute way. Neither necessarily involve shipping but the interactions between Joy and Fear were squeal-inducingly cute (and funny!) in my opinion. Fright or Flight focuses more on the friendship between Sadness and Fear.

A Smile is Still Worthwhile by R_Clearwater: Another short and sweet one that describes how much Joy cares for Fear. I appreciate this one greatly

Taking Care by UntoldStories113: It's not really Starnerve but it's Fear-focused and reading it again after the sequel came out, it's become even more believable with the idea that Riley can choose/control her emotions and not just the other way around. I remember liking the interactions between Fear and Joy and the other characters too, it's a good story imo

Thrilled by UntoldStories113: More cute interactions between Joy and Fear, also Fear showing off how good he is during "a crisis"

Your last boyfriend worked in record keeping for the Senate. Before that, a guy who spent his days doing data entry. 

So it surprises you when you’re inexplicably drawn to the man standing in front of you. 

His hair is white. No…silvery grey. Perfectly done in a way that costs hours in a salon chair and too many credits. It’s been cropped close to his head, the style that so many soldiers go with, but you can see some ends curling up on the nape of his neck. You wonder if it would all curl up if it were longer.

He’s tall, but not too tall, and lean. Strong shoulders, shoulders that carry and fire a weapon. On closer inspection, it’s obvious he’s a clone. Deep brown eyes, a strong handsome nose. Over one of those gorgeous eyes is a tattoo; thin lines in the form of a gun sight. 

You ask him his name.

“Crosshair.”

You can’t help the snort that you let out. 

“Isn’t that a little on the nose?” You pointedly look at the tattoo on his face, and he just shrugs. 

“That’s it, isn’t it? I’m always right to the point.”  He flicks the toothpick in his mouth across to the other side for good measure, and you spot a sharp canine gleaming in the bar lights. 

He is bad news. Sure, he’s a soldier fighting for the Republic, so he’s on the right side of things. But everything about him screams bad choices; the glint in his eye, the cock of his hip as he leans against the bar, choosing to lurk over you instead of sit. 

You feel like a moth to the flame, entranced in this man who sauntered over to you like he owned the place, bumping someone out of the way so he could talk to you. 

“Then Crosshair-“ you lean into his space, pleased when his lip ticks up ever so slightly. It’s not a smile, but a smirk. “-what’s the point you’re trying to make right now?”

He leans one elbow on the bar, doing nothing to hide the way he looks you up and down. 

“Point I want to make, is that we should get out of here.” He nods towards the door. Cocky.

“What, you aren’t gonna buy me a drink first?”

Crosshair hums thoughtfully, plucking his toothpick out of his mouth and flicking it onto the dirty bar floor. “In my opinion, that just delays the inevitable.”

You sigh, giving your shoulders a small shrug.

“If I’m honest, you look like bad news Crosshair.” 

He laughs at that. All it is is a huff of air that comes briskly from his mouth, but you can still tell he’s amused.

The distance between you two is short; you on your bar seat and him standing tall next to you, a forearms length away. It takes him half a step to be in your personal space, and only a slight swing of his arm to have it on the back of your chair. You have to crane your neck to keep eye contact, and when his eyes flick down to your lips, you move in the extra inch. 

Crosshair kisses you, and it is not short and it is not sweet. He hums against your mouth, and it only takes a small nip of his teeth for you to open up to him, to allow his breath to be shared with yours. He kisses well, and he kisses in a way that makes your hands feel fuzzy as they rest on your lap. He is warm and slick and his mouth tastes like the cheap beer at 79’s, and it all makes your heart pound.

When he pulls back and you go following him in search of more kisses, he gently puts a hand on your shoulder to keep you in place. Shit. He’s got you; hook, line, and sinker. 

You’re following him out of the bar not a moment later. You realise that he hasn’t even asked you your name.

his voice is sooooo great, and i have warmed up a bit to him, but all the same. he's just not my type physicality wise, but i think i get the appeal. i also thought it was really sweet they let him have that soft moment with his parents in heaven where his dad tells him how proud he was and all that. (assuming it wasn't all a hallucination, but i digress,) i would've expected them to show his dad giving him a hard time one last time before he came back to earth, but i'm happy the comics let him have this :)

the cop out answer is "well obviously the fire-brandishing character is the hottest-" but that's lame to me. it's honestly REALLY hard for me to see them as attractive or "dateable" just bc I project "my child" onto them. I've mentioned before, but i don't like them bc i wanna fuck them, i wanna protect them like a mother. i wanna feed them a homecooked stew with a wooden spoon, i wanna make crayon drawings with them, tell them bedtime stories, hand-stich him a stuffed animal, yk that sort of vibe. i do care for them a lot, but not in a romantic sense tbh.

Demo and Soldier (7/10)

I'm putting them together bc they are only really attractive to me when they're drawn with bulk-muscle. the idea of either of them packing on lean muscle is so weird to me. but they just feel like such living embodiments of "just here for a good time," and honestly? sometimes that's all you need :) If i HAD to put one above the other, I would put Demo over Solder, bc i ADORE fanart and official art that give him that cute little drunken lazy smile. it's just such a little thing that is so endearing to me!

i'm sorry, i genuinely have no idea why i'm such an apologist for him, i deserve to have my rights taken away for this.

i will never get tired of this guy <3 he's the living embodiment of "southern comfort," and much like medic, it's not at all surprising people love him so much. no one else has his character's incredible dichotomy of, sweet and gentle, while also able to deal out insane levels of violence (heavy comes close, but he doesn't quiet have engie's soft approachable disposition). definitely got the short end of the stick in the comics imo, as we don't get to see much of his family (or rather him interacting WITH his family) but in game at least he gives them lot's of shout-outs which is nice, but honestly makes me want to see them all the more! he's such a whore for all those cozy knit-wear cosmetics too. he's perfect in every way, he makes my heart flutter, he has never done anything wrong in his life ever, i would die to protect him.

Cemetery Mary: True End (Crowven's Route)

here i am!! time to get the true end, where i will hopefully get all of the answers to my questions (or at least most of them)

since the ending guide says that the true end is the same regardless of the route you got it on, i will be doing Crowven's and not twyla's or Reginald's because i just really like seeing Mary and Crowven have a good time together

since im gonna get the true ending, i've decided i wont skip anything so that i'll be going through a complete story (does that make sense??)

lol its kinda funny (not really) that Mary's parents were so worried that she'd be a victim of 'the Blackwood Butcher' im sure Reginald would find it funny since the only reason he's killing people is for Mary

i wonder why Reginald killed Mary's aunt and uncle (well i think he did) but only kidnapped her parents (unless he killed them at some point but if he did he would have let the bodies be found yk? for a funeral) maybe its just cuz it was her parents

man the tension between Mary and Crowven at the beginning,,,, at least in this route it will fade away

man,, i wonder what would have happened if Mary had told someone about the mystery number instead of like,, talking to them in secret

Vasilis looks cool i know theyre the mc of Blackout Hospital, and ive been planning to play that game after Cemetery Mary so after i get the true ending im gonna play that game afterwards lmaoo I wonder if Crowven shows up in Blackout Hospital or smth it would be interesting to see more of their relationship

my first thoughts : aww cool age swap m0b x re!gen.... this can be either really good or mid.

after thoughts : the whole setup for the one of the main plot points (re!gen losing his eyesight to an evil spirit) fits pretty well into the setting, and the dynamics that bounce off of a loss of sight is very... nice >>)b

there are a few nsft scenes, but they are rather quick and dont linger / arent drawn out (which can be a downside sometimes.... ) also bonus omo scene. kinda 👍

ALSO THE ART STYLE IS SO GOOD, butttttt im not to big of how re!gen just looks like a shrunk down version of himself.... if that makes sense (ik thats kinda canonically how he looked like when he was younger but ~you can make things up sometimes... for funnnn~ BUT I CAN LOOK PAST THAT ... !

overall, very nice read, nice 🔞 scenes, cute artstyle n what not

in terms of how i learnt; i've kinda always been drawing for as long as i can remember? been posting art online since around 2013-ish so i got a big big catalogue of stuff to look back on

but learning in specifics of like, how i learned to shade n draw bodies etc etc. i studied! theres a lot of resources out there that'll break down a lot of the 'basics', i dont have any i can name off the top of my head except for morpho; whole bunch of books about body types and anatomy.

im not really good at providing tips for how to learn (bad memory </3) but studying, drawing things over and over (i do with reference and then without, and try to draw in different angles/perspectives) is very useful!

ALSO VERY IMPORTANT: literally do not worry at all if what you draw the first time around looks wonky or "ugly". being negative towards yourself about your art only serves to stunt ur growth!! shakes you (and anyone reading this) by the shoulders. it can be very easy to slip into hating your art and not enjoying anything ur drawing. this is me telling u to try and draw something youve never drawn before. experiment. it may not look perfect or even "good" but it will refresh ur brain!!!!!

MY PROCESS...... oh man i really have been drawing pretty much daily huh? i do draw every day but its been a hot minute since ive been doing finished pieces haha

but basically what i do is; start with a few warm-up doodles! just anything to get me in the groove

then over the course of the day i slowly chip away at whatever pieces im working on (lined stuff will usually take me a few hours, rendered stuff takes a day or a few....)

i cannot really assist in like "so how do you draw?" because i honestly just go Lights Off Its Drawin Time! but i always do a rough sketch of an idea i have, refine the sketch, refine that sketch, and then if its rendered i'll make a palette for myself somewhere, but if its lined i'll start on the lineart and then fiddle around with colours.

i draw for fun, so if i dont like how somethings turning out, i'll stop drawing it. no use frustrating myself over a piece to the point of hating it!!

(this ones just forfun and just for me) i keep a small little doc full of notes about my own pieces! i like analysing stuff, and also enjoy talking about why i draw something in a specific way, so this is just a nice little thing for me to have fun with. also helps me avoid potentially slipping into "hate this. bad" mindset bc im specifically noting things that i Liked (i do obviously have a bit of chatter like "hmm i think i couldve drawn this better, i should keep that in mind" but its only when its helping myself. the jora does not talk bad about its art)

aaand then i do some cool-downs to get any last little doodles outta my head so i can relax in bed

in terms of tips? do stretches, walk around, TAKE BREAKS! draw at your own pace, and also Have Fun With It. experiment with different colours, limited palettes, different styles!

seriously though do make sure you take breaks and stretch im lookin you in the eye okay?

I haven't had a chance until now to really sit down and absorb all this spin-off goodness over the course of the week. But damn, am I so happy that you posted this 17k word masterpiece.

Bucky being so soft and perfect towards Omega really made me love this version of him where he does, in fact, get the girl. He's such a wild card in the original POYT that it just completely contrasts here. I'm honestly giddy about how we get to see that gentle and caring side of Alpha Bucky come out. Like, maybe he isn't that bad in some sort of universe out there, and he has a soft soul that the right girl can pull out of him. Sure he's got some misogynistic views as well, but what threw me for a loop was

I got way too into the feelings that he drew out of Omega. We get to see her fucking FLOURISH in her natural personality. We see the qualities in her that make her so desirable to them in the first place, and it feels amazing to have this perfect version of Bucky be the one who makes her feel safe and comfortable while flying on cloud 9. In some way, you did execute a Bucky and reader fic. It was wonderful, and personally it fulfilled a need in me to see how she would've faired with him. Do I wish they ended up together so she could live a fairytale life? Of course, but that wouldn't be POYT.

Heres the thing, she was ALWAYS going to end up with Steve. They're SOULMATES. Even when Bucky did ask Omega out first, it was never endgame, because thats not what this series is, at least that's how Ive always seen it. And Steve is and always will be that Alpha jerk that gets what he wants! So I was not surprised at the ending. It was more fitting to have him do that to Omega than to write him off as a passive jerk who sits in his own bitterness. That wouldn't be the Steve we know and love(ish).

But onto their yearning— I was kicking my feet and squealing at their little acknowledgement for their scents. I can almost picture Steve Jr. with Steve's scent embedded onto it so that Omega can sleep well at night. And having him show a little bit of guilt and vulnerability with his gifts was probably my favorite parts of this fic. I remembered the yellow flowers from the other chapter and smiled the whole way through just because there's some significance there with the type he brought her. I think in a sense this also gave me some closure from the time he attempted to guve Omega flowers but was overridden by his jealous nature towards Sam being in the room with her. So this was just a nice treat, huh.

And I love the idea that even though she was living college life with ease and was so happy with Bucky, there will always be that nagging part of her brain that calms down around Steve's scent ...even if she doesn't know or want it. Them being drawn together like that puts into perspective how incredibly connected they are in every universe, or in this case spin-off.

But what I do appreciate as well is that while this is 17k words, every word has its place and isn't filler. The way you describe how she feels with Bucky versus Steve is brilliant. There's just subtle differences with the sensations and emotions running through her as she kisses both men. With Bucky, it felt like I was reading a first love kind of deal (not like Peter) where you get butterflies and flustered at the other person. It was cute, and they had such a young love type of deal that Im sure they enjoyed having a sweet love sort of deal. They were learning to grow and blossom and I think you did that part so well. I would have killed to be in her place.

But reading how she feels with Steve? Immaculate. The intensity of all these sensations going through their body and how she describes the touches? The kiss? Like they are an explosive duo. It's overwhelming, yet comforting. Like they thrive in the chaos and darkness of it all because theyve been thrown into it together. No matter how hard they fight, they're each other's. But I love that about them. There wasn't a single moment where she wasn't overanalyzing her inner thoughts when she was around him. Every moral observation led back to his lifestyle and having the perfect someone to cater to his needs so he would stop sleeping around. But even with Bucky taking the right steps to be the perfect boyfriend, it didn't really matter what he did at all. I just love how we can slowly see her getting influenced into Steve's energy and the fear creeping up on her that she might be consumed by him.

Basically what I'm saying is that Omega and Steve deserve each other in every way, but damn I'm wondering if POYT Bucky was just acting like Steve in this fic and being engulfed in his bitterness and jealousy too. He wants what he didn't get to first and now she's off limits.

I just have such an appreciation for the effort and love you pour into your writing, especially this fic that could've easily been abandoned from burnout. Your hard work is seen! I love the amount of confliction and defeatedness that Omega exudes!

This made waiting worthwhile. I cannot wait until the poyt 5 comes out but this unlocked so many gooey feelings. Oh and hey! This didn't make me violently sob this time around, which is nice. It was like strolling through a garden field!
