ok ok actual unpopular opinion I'm prepared to get shippers in my inbox sending me death threats for this but as much as I adore pricefield (prefer amberprice but chloe has TWO hands) I actually don't hate that they're broken up in DE. like it's devastating of course but I think it makes sense for both characters and I certainly don't think it undermines any of what they have or what happened in the original LIS, like they clearly still have that love for each other but their lives and mental states just weren't compatible at that point in their lives, and it doesn't mean theyll never reconnect in a significant way in the future, whether that be romantically or platonically. All the people saying 'this makes no sense for who they are as characters!!' are forgetting that the characters they're familiar with are 18yo girls, these women are pushing 30!! they've changed!! are you the same person you were 10 years ago?? not to mention people's reactions to trauma and how they process it is very different and often unpredictable. and honestly even if all this weren't the case, the people writing off the game entirely just because their ship isn't 'canon' anymore need to re-evaluate whether they ever appreciated the story as a whole at all or were only in it for the shipping, in which case fanfic is your friend my dude! despite what a lot of people think, max and Chloe's romance not being endgame doesn't invalidate the importance of the original story at all. if you don't wanna play it I'm not gonna say you have to obviously but acting like it's ruined because of the pricefield break up is kinda ridiculous imho. anyway.

Let’s be honest here. Percabeth is the only canon couple that is actually going to last a life time.

Most of these types of couples in the YA genres wouldn’t last a year.

Solangelo wouldn’t even last 6 months (there are many reasons it won’t last any significant amount of time I could go on for years and years so I’ll skip that part. Theyll grow apart and never talk again and almost forget each other. Once in a blue moon Nico will think of Will and think if he was normal they might have lasted. Will occasionally thinks of Nico and wishes he could’ve understood Nico better. They are not endgame. They are not significant in any way.

Jasiper wouldn’t last a year. Piper gets some therapy and does some soul searching and realizes it was just Heras spell and comphet and she likes girls. She breaks up with Jason. Jason is confused and heartbroken cause he thought things were going so well. Piper explains and Jason totally understands and is supportive but still heartbroken because he really did fall in love with her after the war. They still love each other platonically. Always thinking about each other They may take a little time apart from each other after they breakup (a couple months) but I think they would grow back together as best friends after Jason’s heart heals. They’ll be friends well into their adult years. They might travel in different directions eventually but they still catch up every couple of years or so.

Frazel would last until their young adult years and then they realize they want to figure who they are outside of each other and maybe see other people cause they were both so young when they got together. They’re curious and want to try new things and see the world from an individuals point of view. But they stay best freinds forever through everything. Their platonic bond is one that could never be separated by space and could never be broken by time. Neither of them could picture their life without the other. Platonically codependency. They still go everywhere together. Just not as a couple. They’re still enjoying their individual lives and experiences. And then when they’re middle aged and thinking about retiring in a couple years they fall back in love with each other and get married and happily ever after.

Caleo wouldn’t last a year. And the worst part is they don’t even technically break up. Calypso just gets really busy with everything else in her life and looses interest in Leo and she feels bad about it. She’s doesn’t break up with him because she doesn’t want to hurt his feelings. So she just kinda strings him along for the second 6 months of their relationship. And of course Leo knows something is up and is upset and keeps trying to spend more time with her and talk things through but Calypso just brushes him off always saying she’s too busy maybe another time and eventually just drops off the face of the earth and moves on with her life. Leo always wondered where she went and who she’s hanging out with and what kind of adventures she’s going on without him. Leo really did love her. And she was just temporarily hyper fixated on him.

In cannon Percabeth is endgame in every sense of the word. (Fannon can make that and all of the above change and be different of course but I’m talking about all of this in a cannon sense)

•considering the curtis house phone doesnt allow for much privacy, when curly calls, pony can always tell if theyre listening in bc he notices that they get a pretty silent

•pony and curly have done that thing where ur play fighting but someone actually gets rlly hurt, and u cant even hide it from the adults, u just gotta snitch on urself😭😭

•for school awards ponys gets, during the ceremony u can hear the gang, but u can also hear curly, and hes half cheering for pony, half yelling just to yell, sometimes his friends join in, so now TWO gangs r yelling for pony and ponys just embarrassed considering running away

•darry already has to tell pony not to smoke in his room, so when curlys ALSO over, he opens the door and its like a fucking oven in there, like forgetting about the smoking bit, r yall trynna kys??? open the window a little more or somethin😭

not to send the billionth ask about hlvrv but are doc and g-man intentionally narrative foils. man who would do literally anything for his family VS man who believes having a family makes you weak. like. they ARE narrative foils but was it on purpose or a happy accident. also every day i thank you for making sleepless a forzen when i feel like anyone else would've made him a benrey for Frenrey. idk it adds a little pizazz that he's the singular forzen in hlvrv and not a benrey even if him being a benrey would probably change nothing plot-wise

YESSSS and i love it. the question of "was it intentional" is a little here and there because the more i look back at hlvrv the more i forget what i was thinking of in the moment and the more i only have my notes to go off. where episode 1 was kinda me going "UHHHHHHH" and panicking looking at the building blocks that ive laid out desperately trying to smash them together. doc definitely wasnt crafted with the idea that he would have this traitor narrative in mind, and certainly he wasnt created hand in hand with gvrv. his creation was me in the notes app going "uh i need two more gordons. what would be cool. A MAD SCIENTIST MAYBE?" and things kinda fell into place from there.

i think as the live askblog stuff went on i definitely did find my footing with that though, especially as i was going in with the looming shadow of like. onceler-au-ification behind me. i wanted the science teams to play a part in them for sure. and for that connection, that bond, to play a part, and i guess as the story went on doc and freemans fates got more and more intertwined, as doc has this sort of selfish love of her family where she will stop at NOTHING to save them, and the admins whose selfish love of freeman ends up trapping all the other gordons and dangling false hope in front of them, but as the story goes on, as the gordons make these choices to reach out to each other and fight for their happy ending, thats how you see doc and the admins' loves grow into something more deeper and mature. compared to gvrv who chose to love people only as tools

ALSO YEA I LOVE SLEEPLESS. im like 90% sure zer creation was also just me scheming in the notes app like "ooooh theyll NEVER expect this one!" but also i noticed hlvrv at large had a very large forzen-shaped gap so i was like "fuck it". i agree i think making sleepless a benrey would have been tacky

personally, i think it would be a very complicated relationship. the hollowheads in my headcanon are all very tense and awkward with each other at first but they all eventually learn how to open up to one another and learn how to genuinely care for each other (such as sibling relationships goes), but that doesnt mean they are free from holding some sort of grudge and burden; especially for second and victim.

at first, second and dark would be very indifferent and tolerant when it came to each other, but the grudge is still there. second making passive-aggressive remarks about dark within their ear shot, and dark being sarcastic and even guilt tripping second for what they did. i agree that sec sees dark as someone who did nothing but terrorize them- even killed their friends at some point, and dark only remembering that sec killed them so they always keep their defenses up. but seeing how sec can be gracious when it came to forgiving past villains, theyll eventually manage to get past all of dark's actions, but never forget them. dark is the fun older sibling for second and that counts for something i guess.

for second and victim, well, of course at the start they were also tense considering the events that happened, but i think sec would learn to forgive victim faster than with dark since they werent really her primary concern during the events of wanted and the box. sure, she bunkered sec and the others down at first but that was just to eliminate who would get in the way of her plans. sure, she hunted the animator down and did everything to get back at him, but those feelings were between her and the animator, so second doesnt really have a say on that either. i think that despite everything, second eventually grows to care for their older sister because they would understand where those actions came from. dare i say second is actually the closest to victim. they like her a lot, theyre the true two peas in a pod for me.

in my head you know that law is so cool and bepo is so undemanding - law will be so calm about taking care of bepo, not visibly upset (he doesnt want to worry bepo, especially then when bepo is safe with him) just Peak Rational tending calmly to bepos wounds. he is weighting in his options of how to praise him...law is very grateful that him just being Strong (and cool) is what brings bepo happiness and comfort so he doesnt even have to go out of his way to do anything for him...they just work when they are together

its nuts that hawkins probably saw the MOST of laws reaction (penshachi too) - when they all were in the immediate danger (but especially bepo) after the fact (and even when he comes out of his cell) law is collected.

they are so precious about each other they are both thinking "im ashamed i ended up in the situation and made you worry/im ashamed i couldnt prevent it and you got hurt, you are my responsibility" so instead of saying these things out loud - they both know how the other is feeling - they do their best to move on asap.

and so he will be when treating bepo and caressing him, say he is checking if anything is broken (he has Scan for that) and smiles so soft and loving when bepo giggles after a ticklish spot gets stroked...

Bepo melting in his hands as usual (as usual!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️) its the most wonderful thing in the world and makes them both forget that anything bad ever happened

sorry dhmis fandom i havent been around to ramble as much because i was off getting mad bitches and touching grass. but im back and ready to get really sappy and emotional and compare my life to old man yaoi. so anyway. do you ever think about how lonely the main three are despite being right next to each other. how they really do love each other but they dont trust each other nor do they know how to properly treat each other. like they try their best but their best isnt enough. they try to teach themselves how to love but its made them selfish. growing up in shitass nowhere alabama, traumatized as fuck, this is how friendships have sometimes felt for me. nothing is serious, everything is ignored, everything is funny no matter what. our words may sting each other but we stay silent and fake a laugh. and then those friendships would fade into weird gay bromances. and yeah those middleschool ass homo-friendships might be shitty but theres something so nice about the moments in the dark, when you realize you like looking at each other. when you realize that maybe you should be kinder. maybe you should trust them more. maybe if you hold their hand long enough and close your eyes tight enough you wont have to go back to pretending to be cruel. and it might notve worked back in middle school, we may have crashed and burned, but i still look back fondly on those moments in the dark. and now that im older, and ive learned to be kinder, and ive met others whove learned the same, im finally with someone that likes looking at me even when the lights are on. im surrounded by people whove lived and learned. like sonic adventure two am i right guys. but seriously. ive said this before and ill say it again. dont hug me im scared makes my fucked up life feel represented, but it also gives me hope. those gayass puppets may forever be trapped in toxic yaoi, but i am not, we as real people are not. theyll learn how to love and forget in an hour, their efforts are hopeless, but ours are not. NIKU KITTEN LORE

niku was at the cat cafe/adoption place because she was found with parents nowhere to be found hungry and small very very small (kinda like someone we know-) and so she knows what being alone is like and one day when she sees two people sit in and everyone else swarms one of the guys while the other is just. all alone and she doesn't like leaving people alone and for some reason she feels the need to go up to him so she breaks from the crowd and goes over on her little kitten paws and mewls , rubs her head against his knee "hi i'll be your friend" and when rinne sees her he cries

When Niki makes him leave her he tells her “I’ll come back for you” and she believes him and he visits her every now and then so she doesn’t forget him but she doesn’t really register what’s happening every time since she’s so small

Cat melodrama

It’s like 3 AM and there’s meowing in the living room and they think it’s just Niku with the zoomies but no she’s talking to a whole other cat

whole other cat is an alley cat that just passed by one day and saw her and Instantly fell in love and keeps trying to talk with her but Niku is having None of it

He keeps coming by and she eventually just warms up to him because he is. Kind of cute and very charming

She saves some of her food for him sometimes ‘cause she learned to share food from her dad (Niki) 

niki: niku why arent you finishing your food 

niku: pacing around in front of the window, looking for other cat

Other cat comes by sometimes during the day when Rinne and Niki are out and other cat (she just calls him Nya-kun now ‘cause he doesn’t really have a name) offers to take her on a little city adventure since she doesn’t go out besides a small neighborhood area when Rinne and niki take her on walks

he takes her to his favorite spots and shows her so many things she has never seen and each place they stop at she falls a little more in love (nya-kun is already so in love he cant fall even more hes at full love)

He drops her off at home and she’s just so happy and purring and everything and good kitty things and Rinne and Niki have no idea why she’s like this but they can’t really complain

he comes by again and takes her out and it goes well at first but then they get into a fight with some other alley cats that does not go well; niku is okay and a little shaken but nya-kun is hurt and bleeding

She brings him back to the apartment and kinda tears some things and drawers apart looking for the first aid kit that she’s seen Rinne and Niki use and she’s trying her best to patch him up but Nya-kun’s sitting there thinking and kinda regretting everything ‘cause she got put in danger

nya~kun: i love her. I Love her. But I'm just an alley cat. she has a loving home, she doesn't belong out there. not on the streets. not with me. she's beautiful and everything ive ever dreamed of but i have to let her go. 

niku panicking while trying to patch him up : nya-kun please stay my dads will help i dont know what to do but theyll know ! where are you going? theyll help you, i know they will!

Nya-kun says this isn’t gonna work out for them because she’s just not a street cat, it’s not safe for her out there and she should stay here, where she has a loving home and people who love her, and he thanks her for spending time with him and putting up with him and he leaves And Rinne and Niki come home like “Niku what the fuck happened you’ve never done this” ‘cause everything’s still a mess and she’s just sitting there 

for the next few days she's so, so, sad at first she thinks he'll come by but he doesn't and doesn't the next day and doesn't the day after that or after that or after that but she still waits by the window with her food unfinished waiting for him and rinne and niki notice and are so worried because their baby is hurting and they have no idea why

In all her alone time she realizes that she had no say in his decision to leave her alone, and that it isn’t fair ‘cause he made the decision for her when she didn’t want it in the first place so she makes her own choice to go look for him A là “It’s my life I get to choose” Niki-style

so one day when she gets the confidence and niki and rinne are out at work she nudges the window open and jumps out and runs to every place she can remember him taking her , his fav spot by the pachinko, his fav place to take shelter in, etc, until she finds herself back in the same alley and face to face with the alley cats that had attacked them before. the alley cats recognize her and seeing that her companion isnt with her move to attack her for revenge because though he got hurt, he left a. number on them

Nya-kun jumps in at the last second and fights them off and he’s like “What are you doing here? You shouldn’t be here you don’t belong here!” (This is all in meows by the way) And Niku’s like “Even if I don’t belong here, you belong with me!” She can’t stand the thought of him fighting for his life while she’s just living comfy so she finally begs him to come home with her ‘cause

 “Dad and dad will love you!!” 

“How do you know that!?”

 “Because I love you!!”

he's so absolutely speechless and starts sobbing (in meowspeak) and is like i love you but im just a street cat, and niku is like if you love me you will come home with me please and nya-kun FINALLY finally breaks down and moves forward slightly closes his eyes touches his nose to her's and gives out a breathless "okay"(meow) and she takes him home and they slip in through the window and sit in the living room cuddled up together waiting for her dads to come home

Anyways yeah that’s how they got the second cat (Rinne and Niki have no idea any of this happened btw [time period unspecified]) and Nya-kun is now called Rinnya-kun but Niku still calls him Nya-kun

and theyre still in love

another thing about niku being so tiny when she was at the cafe is that she doesn’t remember the one other friend she had at the cat cafe that was a tiny orange cat who ran away

that tiny cat was her only friend but he hated being in the cafe and ran away and she barely remembers anything but only knows she felt comfortable in that short time and for some reason the tall red haired guy reminded her of that cat

when the entire B plot ends up being more emotionally charged than the main plot

This entire thing is literally just Rinnya meeting his in-laws

and falling in love with he kitty wife

All cat dialogue is just meows with subtitles

“How do you know that!?” “Because I love you!!”

Rinnya has a scar from that first fight since he left and didn’t let it heal properly and whenever Niki’s petting him he’s like “man where’d you get this scar from buddy”

niku takes time to lick it gently everytime they r cuddling. to show that she is thankful 4 him everyday and loves him so much

Licks are the kitty equivalent of kisses (which Rinne is. Still constantly shaming him for) but nose touches are way more personal for them

man literally went thru hell for her he deserves to be a slut (saved her life)

Rinnya: What the hell is a marriage is why is there no kissing before it, what is a “wife” Niku: I dunno, but dad calls dad his wife so I guess that means someone you just really really love a lot 

Rinnya: I suppose you’re my wife then

niku: i guess i am~

niki: rinne-kun why are you slutshaming the cat again

rinne: u dont understand niki they are breaking the sanctity of marriage

niki: rinne-kun. they're cats. they dont understand the concept of marriage

in their third year saiko and aren start doing weekly bets, as encouraged by kaidou who got tired of getting caught in the middle of their weird charged obsession with each other (literally, as he sits between them in class) and really wanted them to take that shit somewhere else after he got in trouble w teachers for being their profanities-filled notes-passing middle man so many times the school called his mom. its really simple. they just find something to compete against each other at, and the winner gets to ask one thing of the loser. rinse and repeat. despite saiko being way less of an idiot than aren, and knowing him well enough to come up with challenges skewed in his favor (he still has The File on him from when he tailored part of his house to arens specific taste), their win-lose count is pretty much even (aren is just a beast). the Bets are a source of mild entertainment for the rest of the class, because while they dont particularly care about the challenges themselves, what they make each other do generally ends up being pretty funny to watch. but they dont always use their winning request to annoy each other. most of the time they do, of course (the class will never forget the week of dread they felt as they watched aren just barely keep it together while having to address saiko as 'saiko-sama'), but sometimes theyll instead use it as an opportunity to get to know each other better, not that theyre admitting that out loud. saiko makes aren accompany him to a fancy event hes too bored to attend alone. aren makes saiko hang out with him at an arcade downtown. saikos curiosity gets the better of him and he makes aren cook lunch for him for a whole week (and immediately regrets dismissing his chef but still eats every bento hes given). aren makes saiko come up with an entire road trip route to try out the bikes saiko got for him and never used. friendship blossoms.

LET THIS BE CLEAR THAT THIS BLOG ALSO SERVE TO ME AS A GODAMN PRIVATE JOURNAL THAT ISNT PRIVATE BECAUSE I HAVE A VALIDATION AND SELF CONFIDANCE ISSUE. are we good ? 99% of the people who could read this already skipped ? fine. lets start on a good news! @makoto-naegi-stud-and-friends (who has a dumb discord name NO I WILL NEVER STOP SAYING IT (unless you like, tell me that you dont like this running gag, and if so i'll stop imediately bud)) and @plaindangan (da plain! they are so cool) but i just got out FINNALY of a very toxic relation on the cowede side of my life! that had been going on for what... 3 years now ? basically that person is russian (the cliches are stable) and has psychological issue (probably dementia, but like, i don't have dementia and i forget stuff constantly and before i begin sounding like an horrible person i swear that russian had dementia precisely when they needed too seemingly, just now i remembered i must kobeni @plaindangan will get it) and the thing is... they asked for a LOT and I mean a LOT, and when they actually put some godamn effort they were great, and of course at first in our relation they did put ton of effort, were proactive in ideas and tried different super cool stuff, like actually talking in code when playing a robot character, they also gave me lots of cool ideas and experimentations about erp that i very much enjoyed and brought to other places with... mostly failure than success ? but hey. So whats the issue ? picture this. you start a rp, and you have to play 8 different character in one action. then in the very next action you must make, you must replay them all but instantly corrupted and now cucking their boyfriends and slobering other that person cock. At some point they ask you to add 4 more character because "its not enough". do you get a please ? a thank you ? nope. ah maybe a matching response in term of words and quality ? nope. the person (lets call them X from now on, should have do it earlier but the problem is I write like i talk and i talk like a very very bad comedian) will start talking in the first person, completely not only forget but factually they dont care about what the rp is about, setting, characters, even the characters the other play, its just them and the others, but also the answers are super short, almost on the level of a "i fuck them, continue" . Oh at the very least you can say theyll get bored of it once they have it and we can move on to something else, maybe be back to creative teasefull stuff since they are actually great at this writing wise. NOPE, theyll freeze the rp for weeks, if you try to ask them if we could continue they say "i dont feel like it" and whenever too much time pass surprisingly its your fault now. so you do what ? you create another rp start with X, hoping this time maybe we'll get each other better. it shouldnt be too much of a problem for me ? those who know me conscerning rp know that I kinda have... an obsession with beginings ? like i actively want to do long term, but after some time my brain freeze and i dont know what to write anymore.. and of course my stupid brain get other ideas about other characters, that i pitch to my partner (once again @plaindangan and especially @makoto-naegi-stud-and-friends the goats suffered from this) and we end up starting this other pitch. Does Jon still have feelings for bug? Like even though him and Nancy are together does he still have these lingering thoughts and/or feelings? Will they ever come back up or will they just stay down? Bug has had alot more time to deal with her feelings with Jonathan while he hasn't and he went straight from bug to Nancy, so does he still occasionally have those thoughts of his love for bug despite being with Nancy? Sorry if this is an over asked question my brain gets fogged around breakups in stories.

Also Steve trying for a whole summer to get bug to be his girlfriend is so spot on it hurts. Bugs clueless and Steve is just bad at reading signals. But think about the sweetness of them finally getting together, how happy they'll be. Steve getting roped in as the unofficial " dad" of the group. I fully understand why bugs would wanna date him after the battle of star Court. Steve Harrington basically sacrificed himself to save your little brother's life, in that stupidly sexy sailor costume. Legit endured torture to keep you safe. Bug would absolutely make a hello sailor joke and Steve would just be so over it.

for jon, he will always kinda love bug, but the circumstances and how he came to find nancy overshadowed this. he doesnt still necessarily love bug in a way that implies theyll come together again, but for the both of them theyre each others first love. you never forget your first love.

i will explore possible lingering thoughts/feelings season 4 (the duffer bros kinda force me to but also i love the concept so i wont complain) because yes !!! jon did jump right in with nancy and then he moved across the country and became a stoner. hes going through it lmao

Naughty Miser Brother Headcanons!!

-Guess which one is usually more reserved and which is more likely to lose it. Yep its exactly what you'd think.

-Both of them can be equally as impish and naughty, however. Teasing, nipping, edging their partner.

-Both also have things they need to be careful about with certain kinds of S/O's, mainly frostbite and burns. A good example is, if they use bondage on someone, too long of exposure to what they use (ice and molten rock/metal probably) can cause these.

-Not to mention that even their manhood isnt completely safe. Cold shock and heat stroke can potentially happen in mortal lovers if they do not watch themselves. Thankfully though they're both good at that not happening, though it can be an inconvenience to them if they wish to be more rowdy. (Bless you anon whoever mentioned cold shock I owe you my life)

-When their lover ends up meeting up with Mother Nature and they have visible burns or frostbite, she will worriedly ask if her boys have been nice to them, and theyll have to assure her they are alright, though embarrased to talk about it.

-Oh and ofc you cant forget them being jealous and annoyed whenever their S/O, if shared, moves to the other brother's place. The one with their partner will also gloat about you to the other, unless you specifically ask them not to piss each other off. They may consider toning it down just for their sweetheart.

Other Mother Nature Sons:

-Earthquake takes the absolute best care of their S/O, making sure he and his underlings serve you the greatest meals, provide you with the most comforting rooms, and protect you from most possible dangers.

-Thunder is very soft and will only raise his powers to bluff and threaten anyone that bothers S/O. Even then, he is a softie around them mostly, always swooning over all of their lover's small actions and appearance. Pure man.

-The Tide Twins are as playful as ever in bed and are up to things like roleplay, teasing, role reversal, and all kinds of silly antics. They also fight over their S/O playfully, but would never truly fight in a negative light. It's all in good fun and they are both super respectful of each other and their lover's wishes.

-North Wind never stops being arrogant. Praising him and his looks does naught but boost his ego and fill him with pride that he will probably eventually take out on you if it builds high enough. As proud as a lion and as stubborn as a mule, he isnt easily swayed from his desires, and anyone that beds with him should anticipate being lesser than him in every way. He's most important.

PEOPLE ALWAYS FORGET THAT HUNGER IS A FUNDAMENTAL DESIRE!!! WHILE APPETITE IS SOMEONES INSATIABLE CRAVING THAT THEYLL REJOICE IN!!! HUNGER DOEST ALWAYS LEAD TO JOY AND APPETITE DOESNT LEAD INTO ACTION!!!!

Like if someone serves you something you don’t want to eat, but you’re hungry, you can only stomach a little bit until your appetite is lost, your hunger can stay anyway but you feel sick from it!!! Someone can have an appetite for love but never have that driving hunger to search for it, so they can only wait in the sidelines for it. Maybe appetite can ECLIPSE hunger, so you no longer have that driving desire to take but you continue because you’re RELISHING IN IT!!!!

I’m going to lovingly link this to Hannibal because I’m crazy, but when Will says “I don’t have the same appetite as you” when he’s rejecting him in season 3, I think throughout the show it reveals that he does HUNGER for that violence and the thrill of killing someone for the greater good, but after he does it he loses his appetite and he struggles to deal with himself and his hunger, he might want to keep taking deep down, but he isn’t able to (and in my head this also links to their love but I can’t say anything proudly until I rewatch it)

It’s a similar thing for Fight Club too, where the Narrator feels this HUNGER for something else which literally leads into Tyler because he’s someone who has a hunger and an appetite to cause all these horrible things, but when the Narrator is forced to face the consequences of his actions he find himself sick and disturbed by it because he never had that appetite, it was Tyler who had it (blurs a little because of the whole they’re technically a same person but I think it’s flimsy enougb to stand)

I feel like it works as a pretty good love metaphor too for very destructive relationships, like where they both are hungry for each other but they’ve lost their appetite long ago and are simply stomaching all the incompatibilities that show later because they are so hungry for that presence and the comfort that the other person offers (I’m recalling These Violent Delights by Micha Nemerever because I’m literally reading it rn :3)

In my book I’m using it as a power struggle, since Luell has this hunger and appetite for magic and how he thinks it can help people, he relishes in that control and that feeling of empowerment (mild saviour complex hehe), and when they meet, he learns that Atlas (seemingly) has a similar hunger for power, Luell wonders if Atlas will be able to stomach the changes that magic happens onto a person and is later he wants Atlas to still have an appetite for him as a person when Plot Twists are revealed (this is more haphazard because I’m still working through it but I love this analogy so much it eats at my brain and is amazing I love it)

EDIT: I just want to add that I think that having an appetite or lacking one is what makes people human, like a hunger is a need that drives a person, basic animal instinct or whateva but an appetite gives you the ability to reflect, discern, regret, which we as humans are enabled because of evolution basically constructing a society that lets people (in good situations) not be driving by their hunger and more their appetite, but that’s more of a need vs want thing, I think appetite is slightly different because it’s more of an attachment and not a counterpart to hunger, like hunger spells out some sort of inevitability that can lead you to react differently depending on your appetite

I saw your take on how we have to stop using shipping goggles for everything because it misses out on the nuance of a lot of relationships and I agree so much! Especially with Kaveh and Alhaitham who are everything and more. It's best summed up in Kaveh's voiceline about Alhaitham "It's complicated." They were friends, best friends, who had a horrible falling out and then spent the next years arguing with each other in academic papers. And then Alhaitham found Kaveh in a tavern and immediately knew that he was in trouble and Kaveh, even though they were no longer friends, told him everything even though he's not comfortable with doing that. And then Alhaitham took him home. They are mirrors and foils who exist to show each other their flaws and strengths and their hypocrisies and every little thing in between. They are each others closest person in this life and they will never find another person who understands them like they do or who can *truly* see right through them like they do. They have hurt each other but came back together regardless and they care about each other so so much. The misunderstandings are still there and it's hard because they want to be that close again but they don't know how to get back there so they just bicker and bring each other food and turn their house into a home. This complexity is really lost when you view it as only romantic because they were first and foremost best friends who were partners. And it's simultaneously a mix of platonic/romantic and a third other thing. Sorry this is getting really long but I love your posts and analyses, and yeah Kaveh and Alhaitham are so much more then just ao3 romance tropes (like their annoying fanon selves will lead you to believe) and they're relationship timeline is a tragedy and it's so complex and so interesting to think about. I really want to die when I think about them for too long. They make each other better and that's just the facts and when they go home at the end of the day it's to each other where they help each other understand the other side of the mirror, the other half of the world. Like that can't just be summarized as either strictly platonic or romantic, it's just so much more!!

i really agree it annoys me when ppl just brush them off like Oh theyre boyfriends. its like well idk it seems kind of flippant… idk.. i think people forget that before everything they were friends. like really best friends and also neither of them had any family to support them. alhaithams grandma was far away from him when he enrolled and his parents were already dead and kavehs mom had already moved to fontaine and his father had just recently passed. they were both very alone in their early akademiya days. ironically even though theyre such opposites theyre the only ones who could ever fully understand each other. they were so isolated that when they did end up becoming friends, when they found that they were able to understand each other, their relationship became much more significant to who they were

they cant really stand to call each other friends, but if you looked at a list of things friends do for each other, they do it all. they pack leftovers for each other and worry about each other and know about the other’s schedules and careers. alhaitham picks kaveh up at the tavern whenever hes too drunk to get home by himself. in alhaithams story quest, as soon as kaveh got all his comments out, he asked alhaitham if he was okay. alhaitham even allows kaveh to just redecorate their house as he pleases. kaveh obviously isnt just a tenant. and the reason they bicker so languidly is because they know so much about each other. its easy to find areas to make jabs at because they know each other best, more than anyone

because theyre mirrors, they have more insight into each other than anyone else. if they reflect upon their own actions compared to the other, theyll find that theyre simply the equal and opposite reaction. im really excited to see kaveh in the event and his eventual hangout. i would love for more things to pick apart and analyze concerning him and the most important person in his life
