watching the sdcc panel and i am just very :) about how sweet their answers to “what are some of the micro moments from the game that have stuck with you the most over the years?” are. taliesin saying what the fuck is up with that which was the first like The Party Gets To Know Each Other moments of c3. travis saying asking his wife if he could kiss her in campaign. marisha going way back to the cannonball competition in campaign one. ashley choosing the beauyasha date but also just the silly goat noise matt made. liam adding onto that to compliment matt roleplaying grass so well and then saying his favourite moment was writing a story for laura and reading it to her as caleb for jester. and then matt saying that was his answer, and that his favourite moments of the game are when they find ways to give gifts to each other whether tangible or not. and sam saying his favourite moments have less to do with the story and is more so when he can just. see his friends across the table from him. when marisha perches and when laura and ashley are (badly) drawing dicks and liam saying he loves when sam sneezes and ashley tells him to stop it and just. yeah. they Are an extremely popular online powerhouse, but i’m so happy that they’re also friends building a world together out of gifts to and love for one another.

like i Am so enamoured with the characters and the world of exandria but the moments when you can feel the love that those people have for each other reach out from behind the stained glass of their performances (to steal a metaphor from brennan lee mulligan) are so extremely special and i am endlessly grateful that they decided to share their silly little home game with the world.

A follower sent me this over on Instagram today to let me know the Hunger Pangs Fluff and Fangs edition was being used front and center for a marketing email they and a bunch of their friends got and how cool that was.

And while I agree that’s neat, good to know I’m hitting the algorithm enough to be included in marketing, I’m also just looking at that 99cent sign up offer knowing that it means my Audible rates are going to plummet for a bit because the way Audible works means I only get 20% of how much someone spent on accessing the book, so instead of my usual 20% of the $14.95 (because the credit isn’t worth the retail price that THEY set, just the subscription cost) I’ll be earning 20% of 99 cents which is… 19.8 cents before tax.

… yay 🫠

I really hate knowing how everything works lmao. I wish I could just enjoy knowing the audiobook is doing well enough to be used in promo. But alas.

you wanted ancient Greek god stories? sure, here's one I've heard before.

You've seen Orion up in the sky before, right? The constellation, right on the equatorial line passing overhead. Wears the big funny belt? Well, he was immortalised in the stars after he fell in battle, due to his own hubris and warrior spirit.

Orion the giant was out hunting one day, accompanied by Artemis, goddess of the hunt. As the day went on, they killed many great animals; some deer, some foxes, and Orion even slew a large black bear! Emboldened by his apparent might, Orion proclaimed that there was not a creature on this Earth that he could not hunt. Hearing his cry, Gaia— primordial deity of the Earth— became enraged. Offended by Orion's hubris, she sent forth Scorpius, the giant scorpion, to fight against Orion in battle. Orion, blinded by confidence, readily accepted the challenge.

As the two began fighting, Artemis of the true arrow withdrew from the brawl: as an Olympian she did not want to interfere with Gaia's intentions. Perhaps an arrow shot from her bow might have spared Orion his life, but alas, Scorpius' sick stinger found its home in Orion's heart. The giant fell and expired there in the forest, and Gaia was content.

Feeling the loss of a fellow hunter, Artemis implored Gaia to undo her actions, but she could not be swayed. However, in her satisfaction at besting the boastful hunter, Gaia agreed to arrest his likeness into a constellation in the stars above. She wove the stars into Orion's shape, and donned him with his club; and across the sky too she imagined the constellation Scorpius into existance. Across the sky from each other, the two chase eternally through the stars so that they might battle again. Now, we see only their memory, and are reminded of Orion's hubris in thinking he could beat the full might of the Earth.

thinking about wasted potential of post-yj98 greta today. like could u imagine if they delved into how she adjusted to being alive again? if they showed the peeling back of some of the naïveté she had as secret, how jarring it is for her to suddenly be mortal again? that sound is too loud, she gets irritable. that texture was unexpected, she bursts into tears. she only takes showers, never baths. her friends have to constantly remind her to consider other people’s emotions because she’s so overwhelmed by her own. what about the first time she cuts herself on a piece of paper? or when she realizes her clothes don’t fit as well, that she’s getting older? how does her first birthday after being dead make her feel? we could’ve had it all
