Here is an idea.
For the human AU a new deviant appears. But it’s not that kind of deviant we know. It has some special abilities and Gil is in danger. How about some horror for this one? 👀
"Gil!"
His head whipped around. He was helping clean up some of the ruins of the outer city, since that was all he was good for, now. The moon was high, providing a good amount of light.
The others were reluctant to let him outside Babylon temple--they were reluctant to let him do anything. He had to all but sneak out to even do this much, especially without worrying Thena.
"Gilgamesh!"
That was definitely her voice, though. Gil dropped the rocks he was moving and looked around again. He couldn't sense anything, but his senses were diminished at the moment. He tried to listen for the slightest sound, but he couldn't pick up anything.
He cursed his human condition, not for the first time.
"Gil, help me!"
That was definitely Thena screaming. It was her voice, at least. Gilgamesh started walking, looking around the corners of crumbled homes and around the deep shadows of the rubble. His cautious steps turned to a light jog.
"Gil, please!"
"Thena?" he called out, but he swore it was just the open air to hear him. What was happening? He jogged closer to the edges of the walls. The wall was still technically under construction, Phastos working as fast as he could. But Gil was the main source of their work efforts, and Babylon wall was huge.
"Gil?" it sounded like a whisper, now. But it was still her voice, thin and high, as if she had been crying. He had never really heard her like that before. But it was his Thena. It was her voice.
"Thena," he repeated, whispering for her as he crept around in the dark. "Thena, if you-"
"Gilgamesh," the voice changed. This sounded less like her. He knew it was off.
He froze. He didn't have Eternal strength or senses anymore, but humans had the best survival instinct. His was screaming. Something wasn't right. It wasn't before and it really wasn't now. He crouched lower, looking around but slowing his breathing as much as he could. His heart was pounding.
"Gilgamesh, help me," the voice cooed, but it was closer. He could better hear what was wrong with it--the wiry echo trailing after it. It sounded almost mechanical, like the grind of Phastos' gears.
Gil lowered to one knee, trying to peek around one of the corners of a building's remains. He hadn't heard it at all, but he saw the massive foot come down. It was wiry, thickly muscled, a terrible colour.
"Gil, help!" it repeated, in the same tone and intonation as last time. It could only conjure so much.
He held his breath, and when he did need to breathe, he pressed his palm over his mouth and nose. This was like the one that had rendered him all but human. They were evolving, and not just new appendages or wings or even that gas. This one was luring them into a trap.
"Gilgamesh, help me!" it repeated, louder this time. It prowled around the house. It was assuring that these things still had some weaknesses to account for.
He watched as the thing rounded the corner. Its head looked like it was a bare skull in comparison to the rest of its body. Perhaps it didn't have a sense of smell, and that was why it was depending on using the sounds it was producing to lure its prey.
Its horrible maw opened again, its paws hitting the ground. "Gil, please."
He didn't like that it could make it sound so convincing. It really sounded like Thena--it sounded like her voice crying for him. How would this walking nightmare know what that sounded like? And how did it know exactly whose voice to use to lure him out here?
"Gil," the beast repeated in his sweet Thena's voice. Its teeth clicked against themselves as its jaw swayed back and forth on its head. "Gilgamesh, please."
He could hear it now. The way it chopped up the words, not sounding totally fluid. But he had to get this close to hear that? If he weren't careful, he would already be fighting this thing.
And that wasn't an option for him now. He was in no condition to fight a Deviant, let alone an evolved one. And it had lured him out here, in the dark, alone.
Fear: humans felt fear. They had incredible instincts for self-preservation, protection, survival. But every cell in his body - whatever body it was - was feeling fear. And he had never felt fear quite like this.
He could die out here.
The Deviant drew closer to him. It repeated the sounds of Thena's distress, switching to screams of terror and agony. What a terrible monster these things could be. They really were here for a reason; humans couldn't fight these things.
He couldn't fight this thing. He couldn't fight at all, anymore. Pure instinct had brought him out here--a need to protect Thena. But she was the one protecting him. She was the Fighter of them now.
He had never had to consider life without Thena. She probably hadn't considered it either. Would he be leaving her alone if he died out here? What if she fought this thing? Would it use his voice to lure her out alone like it did with him?
She could fight it. She was stronger than this thing. He was still glad that it wasn't her that had been turned human. He hated being this vulnerable--this useless. But he hated the thought of it being Thena even more.
"Gilgamesh," that thing whispered. It was right on top of him.
He breathed into his palm. He couldn't control his heart, he couldn't control his lungs. His body was crumbling under the pressure. Thousands of years of fighting and it was lost on the human adrenal system. He squeezed his eyes shut.
Maybe he could manage to see Thena one last time before he died.
"Gil!"
That time sounded different. He kept his eyes shut, although he heard footsteps somewhere in the distance. Then, nothing, then, impact.
"Run!" Thena landed with force, cratering the ground between the Deviant and him. She already had her swords ready, slashing at the thing.
It roared at her, first with her own voice, then its usual, beastly cry.
Thena stood her ground, swinging her staff around, keeping her back to him and her arms raised. "Are you hurt?"
His stomach lurched. She had come running to his aid, just like any weak, defenseless human. "N-No."
The Deviant swiped at her but she raised her shield, swiping at it in return. These evolved ones were smart, guarded, it knew she was a threat, and it wasn't pursuing her needlessly. It was watching her.
He couldn't see her face, but he saw her body locking up.
The Deviant opened its mouth again. "Thena!"
"What in all the stars?" she asked rhetorically.
"That was how it got me down here," he admitted. The thing's jaw clicked and its teeth rattled around again.
"Thena, help!"
"Celestial demons," she cursed it as she shifted her spear into a different shape. She directed the point at it, tri-tipped and wide. It was a weapon not for slicing but for inflicting an irreparable wound. The great warriors of Greece copied this very weapon. "Try it."
The beast chose not to. It gave her another half-swipe, only for show before retreating. Its long, wiry body slithered away from them and through the crumbling cracks in the wall.
Gil let out a breath as its form disappeared into the shadows. He dragged himself up the wall behind him and to his feet, not liking the state of his knees. "We gotta get that fixed."
Thena didn't say anything.
He frowned, fidgeting with his sweaty palms. "You okay?"
"You shouldn't have been out here."
He was tempted to wince at the cold tone of her voice. She was right, he shouldn't have let that thing lure him away, especially knowing he was in no condition to fight.
"What were you thinking?" she asked him. It was worse than her yelling and shouting at him, her voice was barely above a whisper. She turned to him, her powers fading into the air like sparks. Her hair picked up in the wind. "What were you thinking, Gilgamesh?"
He was feeling properly chastised now. "I-I just..."
She waited for him to finish rather than prompt him.
He sighed. "It was your voice, Thena. You were calling for my help."
She didn't argue. She didn't chastise him further, she accepted his answer. She even moved closer, wrapping her arms around him. Her cheek was cold against his warmer one. "Don't ever scare me like this again."
"Sorry," he patted her shoulder before moving his hand to the cutout of her armour that allowed him the relief of her soft waist.
She huffed at him, but her hold on him didn't loosen. "I'll have more to say about this later."
"Yes, ma'am," he chuckled despite her anger. He let out another breath, relaxing his body more. His limbs felt heavy as Thena began leading him back to the temple.
She gave him a nudge, "I should tell Sersi about this--she'll be livid."
He laughed, giving her a nudge in return.
She stumbled.
They both stared. He blinked, looking at the hand he used to nudge her arm. "Uh, s-sorry."
Thena just stared, at the hand and then at him. She had been expecting a gentle nudge--a human one. He had given her a push that an Eternal would give.
He blinked, surprised by first her kiss and then by her laughter. He wrapped his arms around her, lifting her off her feet. It was easy, but it wasn't that easy--whatever it was had been a freak accident. But it was a promising sign.

I Get a Sugar Rush Whenever I'm With You - Chapter 5.3
Happy Friday fellow Drukkari stans, or whatever day it is for you! I'm on a roll with the updates apparently. If you missed the last mini-chapter and need to catch up, you can find that here, or you can go back to the very beginning here. The remaining Eternals have officially joined the friend group, so group scenes are about to get even more chaotic! So, without further ado, here's the next installment of Drukkari in the Great British Bake Off!
Tumblr media
It was only right that the rest of the competitors be invited to dinner. Sadly, Sprite’s mom thought it better for her to get an early night, and Phastos was too tired to stay up with them, even if the days were getting slightly shorter. But Gilgamesh was more than willing to join, having heard about their weekly soirées.
“Frankly, I was a little offended I wasn’t invited sooner,” he joked with them that evening.
It is a very exclusive group, Makkari responded with mock seriousness.
“Yes, so exclusive that we let everyone in,” Sersi added with a smile.
“Well, as many as we could fit in one room,” Ajak interjected. Despite the extra invitations, Druig really wasn’t sure how they would’ve fit any more attendees short of having them eat on the bed. Ajak didn’t seem like she would appreciate that. “But you could’ve just asked. That’s what I did!”
“Really? I thought it was like a secret club. Members only,” Gil said, which drew a few chuckles.
“To be fair, I thought the same thing at first,” Sersi conceded. “I only joined after Druig invited me.”
“Is that how it happened?” Dane asked, his demeanor polite but an ever so slight uneasiness in his face. Druig almost thought he imagined it until he saw Makkari looking between him and Dane curiously.
“Yeah, I told you about it, remember?” Sersi continued. “When I asked for his macaron recipe. He gave me the copy at dinner, which is how I got in.”
“Oh, right,” he replied. While Sersi seemed oblivious to it, Druig could still feel something slightly off in Dane’s usually cheerful personality. Before he could dwell on it, Makkari quickly signed, Speaking of recipes, how did you come up with that yuzu and matcha éclair recipe, Gilgamesh?
“I was wondering about that, too!” Ajak joined in. “I’ve never had those together.”
“They looked incredible, like straight of a pâtisserie,” Druig added.
Gilgamesh was more than happy to talk about his éclairs. As he interpreted for her, Druig could tell that Makkari wasn’t really listening to Gil’s story, her eyes drifting back to Dane and Sersi. Guess he’d have to ask her about this abrupt change in topic later, he thought, as Gil finished his story.
“That’s amazing, Gil! You really should open your own bakery when this is all over,” Ajak said, a subtle smile tugging at her lips. “People would come from all over!”
“That’s kind of you to say,” he replied, suddenly bashful.
“She’s completely right, though,” Sersi interjected. “Those éclairs would definitely go viral on Instagram.”
Sersi’s an expert at Instagram, I’d believe her if I were you! Makkari added.
“Well, if she’s the expert, I guess I have to listen,” Gil joked good naturedly. “Can’t do anything yet, though. I’ve got to win this competition first!”
This provoked some surprised sputters from the table.
“Woah, those are fighting words!” Druig admonished, trying and failing to hold back his grin.
“Hey, I am playing to win,” Gil continued. “I thought I’d have this week’s Star Baker in the bag until I saw your éclairs.”
“Mine were alright, but I don’t know if they were Star Baker level,” Druig tried to brush off. He narrowly avoided the piece of bread Makkari threw at him.
“Hey, no throwing food!” Ajak scolded, but Makkari wasn’t listening.
I beg to differ! Those éclairs were a triumph! she said, making each of her movements very sharp and deliberate. And thanks for bringing them up again, now I’ll be craving them.
“Sorry,” he mumbled sheepishly.
“Now I really wish I’d gotten to try them,” Sersi said with a sigh.
“Don’t forget you got second in the technical,” Ajak chimed in. “Gil’s right. I think this might be your week, Druig!”
Druig swore up and down that it was a fluke (custard tarts were another one of his specialties), but the rest of the group was not having it. So, he held his hands up in surrender as they continued to heap praise on him, along with a few good-natured jabs. In truth, he had been more worried about just staying in the competition, not necessarily winning. Up until now, getting Star Baker had been the last thing on his mind. But after the day he’d just had, he was wondering if it really could be in reach.
-
As they were leaving Ajak’s room for the night, Druig hung back and tapped Makkari’s shoulder. Can I walk you back to your room? he asked, and she gave a small nod. As they let the others get further away, he turned to her to ask, So, was Dane acting weird earlier?
Makkari’s eyebrows shot up at the memory, and she replied, Uh, if you consider being jealous the same as being weird, then yes!
Druig felt his eyebrows furrowing as he simply signed, Jealous?
At this, Makkari gave him a pointed look. When his expression remained confused, she halted in her tracks, grabbing his sleeve so he’d stop too. You really don’t know what I’m talking about?
No, he confirmed. Jealous of what?
Her palm went straight to her forehead, after which she vehemently signed, Of you, stupid!
Druig’s mind took another second to put the pieces together, his eyes going wide once he finally realized. He thinks… me and Sersi? was all he could get out.
At this, Makkari doubled over laughing. It went on for a good minute as Druig tried to wrap his head around this new information. When Makkari finally recovered somewhat, still wiping tears from her eyes from laughing so hard, he asked, Why would he even think that?
You really don’t know that either? she signed incredulously. She was fighting off another laugh attack, but she calmed herself long enough to say, Well, when a man learns the woman he likes was asked out by another man—
It was a group dinner! Druig interrupted.
Yes, but Sersi said you invited her, not the group, she continued. And while Dane may have been oblivious to Ikaris, he’s watched you, me, and the others get closer to Sersi over the past few weeks. It’s not that big of a leap for him to think he may have competition.
From me? Druig asked, still in disbelief.
Well, you are the other young, handsome single guy at dinner, she signed matter-of-factly. I’m sure he would’ve had the same reaction to any other single person in your position.
Druig nodded thoughtfully as he mulled over this explanation. Then, in an instant, the realization of what she’d said hit him. You think I’m handsome?
Makkari’s eyes widened, as if just realizing what she’d said herself. As she averted her gaze and thought about how to answer him, Druig thought he noticed her beginning to blush. He’d really caught her off guard.
Well, yes, she finally answered, her eyes finding his again. He was beginning to smirk when she surprised him again by punching him in the arm. Don’t let it go to your head. You won’t win Star Baker tomorrow if you’re too busy thinking how handsome you are.
Yes, milady, he replied, unable to stop himself from chuckling even if his arm did hurt. They’d already arrived at her door, so they said goodnight and she slipped inside. Druig was grinning all the way back to his own room.

Fun fact: The Eternals writers considered making the love triangle between Sersi, Ikaris, and Druig but decided not to. Anyway, let me know what you think!

OMG I love your Imagines with Druig!
Druig and the female Eternal reader are secretly in love with each other but they won’t say anything. The other Eternals know and try to convince them to tell the other.
Then Druig and Ikaris get into a heated argument, the reader tries to break up the fight hit gets blasted by Ikaris in the process.
Confessions and a steamy kiss happen! A slight smut?!? Who knows!
Druig x Reader
Summary: you and Druig are oblivious to your feelings until it literally has to hit you
A/N: ahhh yes the classic Ikaris and Druig fight :') enjoy the headcanons! poorly edited at 4am :') I didn't do any smut bc I'm soft
Tumblr media
it was a classic case of everyone knew but you
Sersi knew it first when Druig spoke to you by the window the day you were assigned to earth
his cheeks were red as he shamelessly flirted
Gilgamesh saw it next when you walked side by side with the mind controller
he had never seen you so nervous
but they all saw it one morning in Babylon
Druig was leaning against the table, a bowl of fruit in his hand as he joyfully watched Ajak and Phastos bicker
you sauntered in casually
as soon as Druig caught your eye, his posture straightened
offering his snacks to you
Kingo slapped Gil on the shoulder
who then played a game of telephone till everyone looked at you while trying to act casual
they noticed your terribly concealed lovesick smiles and flirtatious jokes
Sprite was the first one to call you out
"So when are you going to tell Druig you love him?" she smirked
you shook your head and scrunched your nose "Never," you chuckle, "he doesn't like me like that. Have you seen the way he looks at Makkari?"
"Wow," she mutters under her breath, "you really are stupid."
now Makkari was not afraid to let Druig have it
'Tell her you love her. You're acting like an idiot,' she signed
"She doesn't feel the same!" he grunted as he angrily signed back
'Does it have to hit you in the head to get you to realize you're both helplessly in love?'
"Perhaps."
Druig spoke too soon
you and some of the others were in Phastos' lab when you heard Ikaris and Druig fighting
their voices coming closer towards the lab
"They almost died! Innocent people!" Druig spat
"That Deviant was about to do so much worse."
"Was it? Or you did you need to look like the hero for 'em, hmm?
his tone of voice caught your attention as they entered the room with fists clenched
your heart started to race when you saw Ikaris' face become red
and Druig's knuckles becoming white
something was going to happen
something bad
their exchange of words came to a halt when the taller man's eyes began to glow
"This is enough!" he shouted
you panicked
jumping in from of Druig a blast hit you square in the chest, knocking you to the floor
Druig's face was flushed, wide eyes looking down at you in horror
why would you do that?
the Eternals all started shouting, ushering Ikaris out of the room
"Why did you do that?" Druig asked you gruffly as Ajak rushed over to take off your breastplate
thankfully the blast didn't go through your clothes
you merely looked at him, still stunned
"Y/N!" he yelped
"Do you think I would take a blast from Ikaris for just anyone?" you shouted back
Ajak quickly healed you up and left wordlessly
Druig thought he caught her smiling
you rose to your feet and limped over to him
"You could've died," he huffed
"And let you die? Come on, Druig!"
the two of you never broke your gaze
"Am I worth risking your life for?"
"Yes!"
you two unknowingly got closer, chests nearly touching
he finally looked down your chest
"Why?" he scoffed
"Because I love you!" you shouted in his face
Druig's face fell but you could see his jaw visibly clench
it was rare, he didn't have anything to say
suddenly he wraps a shakey hand around the back of your neck
pulling you into a harsh kiss
after a deep exhale he pulled away
"I have been in love with you since we arrived," he admitted, "I'm sorry it took so long."
you pressed your forehead against his
"It was worth the wait."

Request: sister x druig where she is feeling sad and left out by the eternals
Druig x sister!reader
Summary: Y/N feels down and Druig helps her.
Warnings: none really
a/n: thank you for the request! hope you all enjoy!
(gif not mine)
Tumblr media
Y/N sits back and watches as the rest of the eternals talk and laugh with each other. Lately it seems like she's always getting ignored or just left out. She knows they more than likely don't mean to... well, most of them. She could see Ikaris doing it on purpose.
Y/N only looks a few years older than Sprite, having the appearance of a teenager. The 'second youngest' girl decides she's had enough of staring at her family sadly and she slinks back to the lonely comfort of her room.
Y/N lies on her bed, her head at the end. She lets her head hang off the end of the bed, able to see her door upside down. She doesn't know how long she's alone until she hears a voice in her head.
You could try to talk to any of us instead of being all sulky.
Get out of my head, Druig.
"You shouldn't think so loudly, then." She hears the familiar voice and opens her eyes to see Druig in the doorway upside down. "Is the blood not rushing to your head?"
"Leave me alone." Y/N grumbles, closing her eyes again.
She listens to his footsteps grow closer and she hears him sit on the floor next to her.
"You're not leaving me alone." Y/N says, still not opening her eyes.
"Now why would I do that?" Druig questions.
Y/N opens her eyes, rolling them, and turning her head to face her brother.
"You're annoying." She tells him. Druig smirks in amusement which only bothers the girl further. "Go back to the others, please."
"And leave you to be all pouty?" Druig asks.
"I am not pouty." Y/N huffs.
"Hmm. You look pouty." Druig says and Y/N glares at him. "Though I suppose being upside down, you are technically smiling from my angle."
"So look at it that way and leave." Y/N orders.
"You know... if you're feeling left out, you could just say something." Druig suggests.
"Why would I want to do that?" Y/N asks.
"So you don't feel left out." Druig says.
"Yes, but then everybody knows how I feel. And I don't want that. It's... it's annoying." Y/N says.
"I know how you feel." Druig counters.
"Only cause you're observant and don't know how to mind your own mind." Y/N grumbles.
"As I said, you should think quieter." Druig says.
"If you're just going to piss me off, then leave."
"Why do you feel left out?" He asks.
"Druig..."
"Either you tell me or I'm reading your mind again."
Y/N sighs, rolling her eyes at his persistence.
"Everybody has somebody." Y/N says.
"What do ya mean by that?" Druig asks.
"Well... you have Kingo and Sprite... who are, like, best friends... or whatever. Then you have Sersi and Ikaris... yuck." She says making Druig chuckle. "And Gilgamesh and Thena are their own little thing. Then Phastos is always working... or with Ajak, I guess. And Ajak's like a mom and the leader, so she's always off doing responsible, important stuff. And then there's you and Makkari and your constant flirty behavior. I have nobody."
"You have me." Druig offers.
"Did you not just hear any of that?" Y/N asks.
"If you want my attention, just ask. Or... you know, think." Druig says.
"You'd stop spending time with Makkari to spend time with me?" Y/N asks.
"I'm here now, aren't I?" Druig asks.
"You were worried, it's different." Y/N says.
"True, but... still. The offer stands." Druig tells her. Y/N wishes she could read his mind to know if he's actually serious. "I mean it." He promises.
"Okay." Y/N mutters.
"So... we can either stay in here... or we could go back out there join in the conversations." Druig says.
"Not really in a social mood." Y/N mutters.
"Yeah. Me neither." Druig agrees.
"Do you have any food on you?" Y/N asks, looking over at him. Druig smirks and pulls out a handful of grapes. Y/N grins and rolls onto her stomach, letting Druig drop the grapes into her hand. The two begin to munch on the snacks provided by the mind reader.
"I hate emotions." Y/N declares.
"So do I." Druig agrees.

my thoughts after watching eternals for the 2nd time:
visual effects are fuckin cool and the music is so epic like it gives me goosebumps every time i see the intro where they land on earth
ikaris was sus af the whole time ig i was too distracted by the deviants when i watched it for the first time lmao
thena and gilgamesh's relationship is gonna make me cry (i only saw their relationship as a platonic one but i can see how people could interpret it to be romantic now)
the more i think about it the deviant subplot felt underused like i thought it was going somewhere but then the deviant just....died and i'm here like, Bruh™
i love dane whitman he's so adorable and i absolutely cannot wait to see more of him someone let that man become a giraffe
kingo is comedic gold, i love the levity he brings to the film. would've been nice if he were in the final act though, mostly bc his decision to fall back felt kinda...weird and out of place
the scene where makkari finds the emergence point is still the most epic scene ever the rush i felt while watching it was sublime
i wish makkari was more developed as a character
they really just forgave sprite for stabbing sersi?? like come on bro lol sprite doesn't even apologize? (ok it might have happened offscreen but still i feel like the "Hey I Can Make You Into A Human" development was pretty sudden lmfao)
i thought druig said "the beautiful makkari" back in babylon but it turns out he said "my beautiful makkari" so technically they've been together longer than ikaris and sersi have 💀
druig really isn't as much of a grouch as i thought and as people make him out to be - he's a lil shit but he cares a lot about his family and he stands behind them (him reassuring sersi and phastos dude...) that shit makes me Cry
phastos's family is beautiful and i love the scene at the end where the eternals are just hanging out on their couch and interacting with phastos's son, please i want more domestic! eternals content where it's literally just jack and his Cool Immortal Aunts and Uncles
speaking of domestic! eternals ajak's unconditional love for her family is a real tearjerker
i noticed druig is almost always munching on something in the domo and i find it hilarious idk why
also. druig wearing a sleeveless shirt & wielding a shotgun...hello yes 911 i'd like to report a robbery. the victim? my heart
can you tell i'm a druig simp
drukkari still owns all of my brain cells

the eternals’ guide to babysitting || ajak.
A/N: another oneshot from the found family series, just something i had in mind. i have so many hcs about the eternals babysitting maybe i’ll make a proper post for it
Tumblr media
You had 5 rules.
Rule number 1: Always babysit in pairs or more (Phastos is the exception to this).
It didn’t matter if the Eternals were immortal warriors who had lived for centuries, if you were leaving your baby in the care of one, another should at least be present as backup. Ajak had found it funny at first, but then the thought of leaving Mateo alone with Druig or Ikaris made her lose her smile. Pairs were obligatory. They might be Eternals but some of them had no idea how to take care of a child, and it was quickly proven after the disaster of May 10th (new rules were added that day). Phastos being a parent himself, he was the only one allowed to be alone with your baby, though you and Ajak usually brought Mateo to him so he could play with Jack.
“Phastos and Ben can’t,” you bit your bottom lip as you entered the living room and made eye contact with Ajak.
Toys were sprawled in the floor with Mateo in the middle, babbling some things about whatever was going on in his head. Ajak looked up as you came into the room. She lowered the book she was reading, setting in on the small table in front of her as she shifted on the couch.
“Did you try Sersi?” She asked, and you sighed while walking over to her.
When Phastos was busy and couldn’t take care of Mateo, the second choice was usually Sersi. She was always happy to help out, either accompanied by Dane or Ikaris. You liked Dane, he was funny and responsible even if he was a bit awkward around children. You knew the schedule you made sure to leave behind was respected whenever the woman was there. You would never tell, but she was your favourite. She had a way with kids and Mateo had grown attached to her abilities. Ikaris was as clueless as the baby, but Mateo liked him too. Though he almost lost his babysitting rights when your son asked Ajak if she could “toast his sandwich with her lasers” the next day.
“I did,” you plopped on the couch next to your girlfriend. You rested your head on her thigh to look up at her. “She can’t either, something about Sprite needing her.”
“Ikaris is out of the question, then.” Ajak’s thumb brushed your cheek as a small smile made its way onto her face.
“Oh absolutely, he’s with Sersi or nobody.”
That left Gilgamesh and Thena. When the man managed to keep a phone long enough to answer your calls, he was a total sweetheart. He was a little confused at first but he had the spirit, and his energy easily matched Mateo’s.
Rule number 2: Do not give Mateo sweets after 7PM.
That rule was added after Gil had the brilliant idea to bake a cake with Mateo and while the boy had the time of his life (and the cake was delicious too, you tasted it), the sugar rush that followed was not pleasant for anyone. It took an entire hour for him to calm down after you and Ajak came back from your date. Apparently, him and Gil had play-wrestled earlier while Thena had the role of mediator so Mateo’s first thought upon seeing you was to try and wrestle. Thena had complimented him on her way out and that only filled him with more excitement. Other than that, the duo didn’t pose any problems. It was a bit hard to keep in contact in contact them, as they both never used phones. Gilgamesh often broke his accidentally, a few times because of his own strength. So it wasn’t really a surprise when neither of them answered after a few calls.
You sighed again, glancing at the happy boy on the floor. Mateo was playing with his colorful blocks and his plastic cars, building little tunnels for the cars to go through. You loved him more than life itself but when he screamed after one of his tunnels fell to the ground, the thought of a child-free evening with Ajak became even more appealing.
You refused to send Kingo a text. He was out of the question, that man was almost as childish as your son at times. That left only Druig and Makkari.
Rule number 3: No teaching Mateo how to steal (please, Druig.)
The mind reader would argue that he was only helping the boy sharpen his skills by teaching him to be observant, but the purse of Ajak’s lips would make him shrug and give up. Mateo had stolen your chapsticks, keys, shoe (not shoes, a single shoe) and some of Ajak’s candles after one evening in the care of Druig and Makkari. The speedster was usually the voice of reason, but Druig had a way of enabling her at times. She would never refuse a challenge.
Your phone chimed with Makkari’s response, a simple thumbs up with an exclamation mark. You sat up abruptly with a gasp.
“They’re free!” You almost squealed in joy as you stood up and looked back at Ajak.
Mateo turned to you curiously. You and Ajak hadn’t truly had time to yourselves in a while and she was the one who impulsively decided that you should go out tonight. Finding a last minute babysitter had its issues and you didn’t actually think anyone would be free. You kneeled next to your boy, unable to contain your excitement.
“Uncle Druig and auntie Makkari are coming to stay with you tonight,” you told him, fixing his shirt’s collar. “You’re gonna have a lot of fun together.”
“Yes!” Mateo let the toy in his hand fall to the ground when he stood up, jumping up and down a few times. “Candy for dinner! CAKE FOR DINNER!”
Right. Makkari had no culinary skills.
You paused before turning to Ajak. “Maybe this isn’t the best idea.”
Your girlfriend lifted her eyes to the ceiling in fond amusement, “I’ll prepare something before we leave. I don’t want Makkari destroying the kitchen.”
Rule number 4: No powers in the house.
That one seemed obvious enough to you that it didn’t need to be said, but after Ikaris’ laser beam incident, you felt the need to add it. Thena was also forbidden from using any weapon in the house (*please just use the kitchen knives to cook, Thena). If Makkari broke that rule every time she babysat, you had no idea. She always made sure to clean minutes before your arrival and with her speed it only took seconds. The only time you had let Kingo and Sprite help you out, you came home to a broken kitchen window and a hole in Mateo’s bedroom door. Kingo later admitted that he had barely skimmed the rules before starting to play with Mateo and you had known then that he would never babysit again. Though it was cute to see the boy mimic his finger guns for a few days after.
Rule number 5: Bedtime is at 8:30. No, Mateo cannot stay up late to watch his cartoons, please resist the begging he’ll give up eventually.
That rule had only been broken once after the sugar high incident. Other than that, you and Ajak always came home to a quiet house. You were grateful to be apart of such a big family, especially when yours weren’t in the picture anymore. To have others to rely on was something you were still getting used to, but most importantly it was so heartwarming to see Mateo connect with all these people as if they were always a part of his life, and it was the same the other way around. You didn’t know if Makkari was joking or not when she told you that she would kill for him, but for your own sake you’d say she was. Your son was surrounded by reliable people, it was all you had wanted for him. Maybe the Eternals weren’t the best when it came to children, but they were family and Mateo was never bored when they were around.
“Thank you,” you had murmured against Ajak’s lips that night, nose brushing hers while your fingers tangled themselves in her hair.
You were laying almost completely on top of her, her hands on your waist. Her skin was warm when it met yours and the words had escaped your lips before you could think about them.
“Mmh? For what?”
“For entering my life the way you did.”
Her teasing smile was contagious when she replied, “I’m also very thankful I didn’t hit you with my car.”
“Are you finally admitting it was your fault?”
“I didn’t say that.”
You pulled away enough to look into her eyes. The tenderness you saw in them made your stomach churn with admiration. Ajak was the strongest, most reliable person you had ever met. She cared for Mateo in a way you didn’t expect her to and never asked for anything in return. If anyone deserved to be called his mother, it was her. You couldn’t believe she had fallen in love with you as you had with her.
“I love you,” you admitted quietly, and seeing her smile widen squeezed your heart in the best way possible.
Her lips mets yours in a gentle kiss. Ajak didn’t need to say it for you to know that she loved you too, she never failed to remind you of it every day by staying by your and Mateo’s side. Your mouths moved as one and you couldn’t help but deepen the innocent kiss after a moment, needing to taste her tongue with yours. Your free hand roamed her body, brushing the side of her chest under her clothes. Your lips left hers to kiss her jaw and you were sure her slow exhale, so close to your ear, made your heart skip several beats still. Ajak had a way of making things feel like the first time. You wanted more, and she easily gave you everything she had. The world was asleep, it was only you, her and the love you held for the other.

day twenty five: muffled screams | d & m
summary: death when you’re an immortal being is a strange concept to think about.
pairing: druig x makkari
warnings: spoilers, canon typical violence, themes of death
word count: 1060
read it on ao3
Druig can’t tell if he died at Ikaris’s hands or not. It’s a strange thing to dwell over, death that is, because before Ajak’s murder and Gilgamesh’s untimely death it had never occurred to him before. One day he hadn’t existed (didn’t remember his previous existences) and then the next he’d woken up on the Duomo.
He’d witnessed death - senseless deaths, peaceful deaths, bloody and violent deaths - a thousand times over, each time chipping away at his heart, but never once had he applied the principle to himself. The apparent immortality which they’d been bestowed had been something of a curse in his eyes, he was never like Sprite, wanting to grow older and experience the world like a human, but he hadn’t cared much for eternal life either.
Not when he felt children die as their parents mourn the loss, witnessed genocides enacted upon innocent people for the sake of power and influence and little else, heard the villagers curse his godly nature when their loved ones passed. But had he ever wanted to die, did he ever wish to be released into death’s loving embrace? He couldn’t honestly say the thought had ever crossed his mind.
As he floated between consciousness and the endless darkness, he heard a muffled scream coming from far away, almost missing it with how far away it sounded, how quickly he was fading. His ability to stay awake, to carry on breathing, wavers, and he finds his eyes drifting shut, not knowing how long it had been when he awakens. While the sun is still shining brightly, and pain pulses through every atom of his body, he can’t hear anything going on near the crater Ikaris had tried to bury him in.
Despite his body’s cries for him not to move, he forces himself upright, his ears ringing loudly enough that it’s the only thing he can hear. Once he’s heaved his way out of the crater, he sees another one of Sprite’s illusions popping up around her and Sersi, another attempt at trickery so that they can die for Arishem’s cause and lose one another forever.
His movements are slow, trying to keep himself steady enough to make it over to Sprite without garnering her or Ikaris’s attention, but he manages to get to them just in time, knocking her out with a rock midway through her spiel. He helps Sersi off of the ground, his body protesting as he helps heave her up, informing her that he is not the right person to stop the Celestial from rising, but that she is.
He watches as she turns the knife Sprite stabbed her with into water, a proud smile tugging at his lips as she finally owns her powers. For years he’d watched her struggle from afar, her own feelings of uselessness and insecurity being projected onto him like a tsunami crashing onto the land, but finally, after breaking free from Ikaris’s shadow those feelings were gone.
She rushes off to finish what they started, and he allows himself the courtesy of slumping to the floor the moment she can no longer see him, nudging Sprite’s body to see if she’s still breathing. Not five minutes later, the bracelet which Phastos made for them is radiating golden light, the patterns on his armour flaring out in front of him as his body is lifted towards the sky, his power being shared with Sersi.
The icy feeling of the Celestial’s death brought on by Sersi courses through his veins, and he briefly wonders if the others can feel it too. For the first time since he was flown into the crater, he allows himself to think of Makkari, the grief stricken look on her face as Ikaris flew away with him, Druig unable to do anything except hold on for dear life. He begs the world to have kept her alive and safe, and in that moment he decides that once they make it back to the others, he will never leave her again.
As his body is carefully placed on the ground, he takes one look at Sprite, who quietly groans nearby, before deciding to leave her there, knowing Sersi would come back looking for her in no time at all. The walk across the beach isn’t long, although his body makes its protests against the exertion known, and soon enough he sees her. Thena’s the one to notice him first, Makkari’s gaze staring off into the distance, but when she turns her head to look at him, he can’t help the smile that he sends her way.
As she runs over to him, her powers momentarily forgotten, he lets his arms fall to his sides, tugging her close to his chest as soon as she’s in arm’s reach. Not wanting to part from her, he rests his head against her forehead, staring into her eyes and smiling at her, even when a stray tear rolls down her cheek. He tries to convey through his eyes that he’s okay, that he loves her, that seven thousand years of pining is too long, that five hundred years without her was torture, but in the end, he settles for pulling her into his side and holding her close.
“I’m okay.” He signs as she carefully drapes her hand around his waist, fearing him being fragile enough to shatter into a million tiny pieces. “I love you Makkari, I never want to spend another lifetime without you in my arms.”
She turns her head and smiles at him, pressing a kiss to the corner of his lips in response.
“Me neither, my beautiful, beautiful Druig.”
His cheeks flush as he rolls his eyes and tries to play off his embarrassment from the compliment as an effect of the heat, but she knows him too well. She turns his head towards her, mouthing the word beautiful at him and signing it emphatically, not allowing him to look away. Tilting her chin up, he ducks his head down and kisses her on the lips, smiles forming at both ends of the kiss, and Druig can practically taste the joy and relief coming off of her.
It’s then that he realises that Death wouldn’t take him from her, couldn’t take him from her, because they’d both fight tooth and nail to be reunited, no matter what it takes.

In An Instance
Makkari waits until she can't wait a moment longer.
Tumblr media
A few hundred years isn’t all that long when you’re Eternal. Even so, Makkari finds her mind straying. She tells herself it’s boredom; Deviants were a great distraction for a few thousand years. She just needs something else to occupy her time. A hobby.
By the time she realizes she’s gathering relics of their time here, the lab is almost full to bursting. Her jade tablet, Thena’s sword, a necklace Sersi loved, Gilgamesh’s ancient cookbook from Sicily. She organizes them, cataloguing in her own chaotic way, and waits.
She watches Kingo’s movies, every single one. Phastos’ gets relationship advice and regular letters. She keeps tabs on Ikaris, on Sprite, on Ajak. She could be at their side in a blink— If they need her, she will come.
In the meantime, the shell of the Domo will suffice. She reads, she watches, she collects. And she does her damndest not to miss him.
It’s a short run. She can get there and back in no time at all. No one sees her, not between the trees or streaking down the river. She runs the distance more often than she’d care to admit, cataloguing like she does for all the rest. He seems healthy. He seems content. It’s enough.
On her run tonight she only pauses once. The vibration of his voice from yards away halts her. She’s missed the cadence.
One second is enough. In a blink, the eyes of everyone in the camp turn towards her, golden irises swirling. They look away as a unit, dozens of feet shuffling off into cabins. All but one door shuts with a snap, and there he is.
“My beautiful Makkari.”
She feels the words like an earthquake beneath her. In an instance, she’s crying, rushing for the darkened doorway. Druig catches her, tugging her into a hug.
“I thought you might avoid me forever.” She feels this too, turns up to look at him. He can sign as well as the rest, but she always reads his lips.
“I wasn’t avoiding you.” Her hands move in a blur.
“Then—“
“I wanted to give you your space. After…”
That night. Makkari had seen many horrors in her time, but none that haunted her like the back of Druig’s head moving down the temple stairs.
“I never want space from you.” He annunciates every syllable, pressing the promise into the top of her head, lips lingering. “Never from you.”
She doesn’t sleep; none of them do. It suits her fine tonight. There are more comfortable places to lay than on the narrow cot in a cabin along the Amazon, but she’s spent enough years bereft of Druig’s company. He talks steadily, whispers in the dark, tracing the words out with his fingers in the palm of her hand.
She’s spent centuries waiting to go home. All this time, she could have simply run there. She folds herself closer against the warm body beside her. He smells the same, feels the same. It’s enough to make her cry again.
His hand leaves hers only to wipe her tears away. He pulls her close, resting his forehead against hers.
“I’ve missed you too,” he says.
Makkari closes the distance between them, pressing her mouth to his. Druig gasps and she can feel it rattle through her body. It would be easy to shed her clothes at the speed of light, to race to this finish line. She takes her time instead. Slow and steady, each touch like a brand, a promise repeated until it echoes.
Love. She knows the word in a thousand languages, but now she begins to understand.
The sun rises too soon and the forest stirs, the squeaks of birds and mammals, the rustling of wind in the trees. She barely registers these. Druig’s bare skin is flush against hers, his lips at her shoulder, his hands tracing patterns along her stomach.
“You’ll come back?” The question is tentative, his pulse racing.
Makkari spins to face him, smiling widely. She takes his hand, kissing each palm, then presses them to her heart.
“As fast as I can,” she swears.
She returns to the Duomo late in the day with a new souvenir. Druig will want his tunic back at some point.
She can’t wait to return it to him.

Loss - Druig x Eternal!OC
Words: 1241
Warnings: Violence, blood, death, angst

I am still taking request so if you have an idea you want to send, feel free to! Also, I’m working on a taglist! If you want to be added to the list, just let me know! I hope you enjoy!
Druig
I watched as Ares fought the deviant, her black sword ripping through the monster’s skin, the monster screeching as it swiped at her. A scream filled the air, making me look around to see a child being stalked by another deviant. I ran towards the kid, only to be knocked away from the deviant Ares had been fighting. The deviant attacked the child before turning to look at me, screeching at me as it charged. A spear ripped through the monster’s throat, green and black blood pouring from the wound as it fell. The other deviant charged at her, the woman cutting through the limbs of the monster before cutting its head off. Her inky eyes met mine before she ran to the small child, gathering him in her arms carefully. I rushed to her side and looked at the boy, who was looking around quickly, fear in his eyes.
“мне так жаль. Я получу некоторую помощь,” Ares told the child before looking at me, the inky color leaving her eyes, tears filling them as she looked around frantically. “Ajak!” She screamed, tears running down her cheeks. The brunette ran to us, looking at the boy in Ares’ arms. “Please help him.”
“I can’t,” Ajak said, Ares looking at her before shaking her head, holding the boy closer to her. The other Eternals circled around Ares and the boy before a dome covered her, making me look to see Sprite holding her hands up. Once the dome was up, Sprite made multiple versions of herself, pushing the other Eternals away. “Give Ares some privacy.” Ajak told us, making me glance at her before shaking my head. Makkari stood beside me and smiled sadly.
“Do you think Ares will be okay?” She signed, making me look at the dome before looking back at her.
“Ares will never be the same, but I’m sure she’ll be okay eventually,” I replied, watching as Makkari nodded before looking at the dome. The clones of Sprite disappeared and the dome slowly came down, Ares stood slowly, holding the boy’s body in her arms. Her eyes were bloodshot and her cheeks were drained of color as tears slowly ran down them. Sprite looked at her and nodded, the two of them disappearing.
Sprite and Ares returned to the domo hours later, the two of them disappearing for a few minutes. Everyone looked at her when she walked into the room, waiting for her to say something. Her mouth opened slightly before shutting again, nodding instead of saying anything. Ikaris, Sersi, and Phastos walked to Ares first, talking to her quietly. Ares handed Phastos something, the man looking at her and nodding as she finished speaking. The three of them left after a few minutes, only for Gilgamesh and Thena to take their place. Ares hugged Thena and whispered something to her before letting go and looking at Gilgamesh, who nodded at her, Ares smiled weakly at the man before they left, Sprite telling the woman something. Ares looked at the small Eternal and nodded, watching as she left the room before looking at Ajak and I.
“You can care for another child,” Ajak said, Ares snapping around quickly to look at the brunette. “There are millions like him. Millions of kids who aren’t as lucky as others.”
“I wouldn’t have to care for another child if Viktor was still alive!” She yelled. “I hid everything so he could be safe! I changed my name, I hid my powers. I helped these people and you come back and ruin everything!” Ares exclaimed, pointing at the woman in front of her, dried blood covering her hands and wrists. “You were the one who decided to come here, to my home, and say that you needed my help, after years of the deviants supposedly being gone! You killed my family!”
“We’re your family!” Ajak stated roughly, Ares’ eyes turning black as she looked at the woman in front of her. A hand wrapped around my wrist, making me look back to see Makkari. Her eyes were filled with worry as she watched the Eternals in front of us. “We have been there for you for five thousand years!”
“We stopped being a family when you told us to leave in Tenochtitlan,” Ares said as her eyes returned to normal. “You lost my trust when you told us the truth about our mission, about our lives. You can say we’re your family, but this family fell apart when you decided to lead us.” Ares finished before leaving the room. Makkari looked at me, a curious look taking place on her features. I explained everything to her, watching as she glared at Ajak before leaving the room.
“Maybe you should’ve saved the one person she actually cared for. Our mission was finished when you told us about what we were really doing, when we stopped Tiamut. A child lost his life and Ares lost someone she loved,” I told Ajak before leaving the room. I walked through the halls quietly, heading to Ares’ room to check on her.
I looked in the room, watching as she struggled to get the dried blood off of her skin. A frustrated scream tore from her throat as she rubbed her skin roughly with a cloth. I walked to her slowly, grabbing the cloth from her hands gently, her inky eyes meeting mine quickly. I pulled her to the bathroom and got the cloth wet, washing the blood from her skin carefully. Tears trailed down her cheeks slowly, quiet cries leaving her as she looked at the blood. Once I cleaned the blood from her skin, I set the cloth down and wrapped my arms around her, feeling her cling to me almost instantly as she began to cry. I ran my hand over her back and tightened my arms around her, letting her cry into my chest. After a while, Ares’ cries stopped and she moved away from me, wiping her eyes.
“Losing someone you care for is always difficult and I wish I could take your pain, but I can’t. The only thing I can do is help you recover, because I care,” I told Ares, watching as she smiled sadly before nodding. I directed her out of the bathroom, seeing Phastos standing in the doorway, holding a necklace in his hand. Ares grabbed the necklace and thanked Phastos, sighing after he left. She unclasped the necklace and put it on carefully, pulling her hair out from under the chain before turning to look at me. I looked at the necklace, smiling as I saw the sword pendant that hung from the chain. “‘S fitting.” I told Ares, watching as she smiled a bit. The woman yawned and I looked at her. “You should rest. You’ve had a stressful day.” I told Ares, watching as she nodded. The woman laid down and looked at me with tired eyes.
“Thank you. For being there for me,” Ares muttered. I nodded and covered her up with a blanket, watching as she smiled lazily. I turned and walked towards the door, stopping when Ares called my name. “You were right in Tenochtitlan. I just wish we had killed the deviants sooner.” She said, making me look at her.
“I do too, Ares,” I replied before letting out a sigh. “Try to sleep. If you need anything, just find me.” I said before leaving the room quietly.

This isn't my usual request but could I maybe ask for something similar to your story were Thena is completely still and unmoving (terrible way of explaining it but whatever) but its only been that way for a few days and Gil is low key panicking and calls the others and they take her onto the Domo and try to figure out whats going on
It was quiet. It felt like the night in Tenochtitlan when they had all stood around waiting for their sister to open her eyes again. Thena once again was lying on a table, Phastos' power examining her. She was completely still, no movement, barely a breath.
Gil stared. He had been all this time. They could see he had been crying, his eyes red and rubbed raw. He leaned forward. "Anything?"
Phastos looked around the room. It was the first words the Strongest of them had spoken since his arrival to the Domo.
Gilgamesh had called each and every one of them, his voice raw with emotion and panic. He had called them to come and help--that there was something wrong with Thena and he didn't know what to do.
Ajak had gone first, and it was her word which had drawn them all together. Not that they had needed extensive convincing. If any of them besides Ajak and maybe Sersi could bring them all together again despite the rifts of millennia, it was Gilgamesh. Sweet Gilgamesh who only ever wanted joy and laughter for himself and those around him.
They had come back to the desert, unearthing the Domo from what had once been a great palace of theirs. The cradle of civilization, now just a plot of land of archaeological fascination. Phastos had awoken their ship, Ajak had led them on board. And last to come on was Gilgamesh, carrying the body of his wife.
Thena truly had not moved since they had arrived. Kingo had been wary to see them both, as had Ikaris. But seeing the despondence of Gil had hit them all hard. For their brother's sake, they allowed it.
"Gil," Kingo attempted to draw him from his thoughts. "How long has this been going on?"
"Days," he answered both honestly and vaguely. His eyes were trained on her, in the center of the room, her hair tumbling over the edge of Phastos' examination table. "Nothing."
Kingo made a face. He looked around at the rest of him, who waited to see if he would find success in prodding their brother for information. "She's been like this for days? Why didn't you call us-"
Gilgamesh looked up at his brother, who flinched away from him. Gil wasn't typically one for anger, but the look on his face was startling. "That's rich, coming from one of the ones who voted to erase her."
Kingo's shoulders drew up. His mouth dropped open to argue but Ajak shook her head at him. He huffed, moving away from his sullen brother and back to Sprite's side.
Phastos took off his glasses, rubbing his eyes in a huff. "I don't know what to tell you, man. Technically, there's nothing wrong with her."
"Nothing-"
"Hey, hey, hey, whoa," Phastos rushed to clarify, putting his hand up as Gilgamesh stood, his powers building around him subconsciously. But one absentminded stomp from the Strongest Eternal could easily punch a hole through the floor. "All her levels are good, her tests are clear, I can't find a problem--a cause! I can't find a cause for this."
Gilgamesh seemed to not even hear him as he walked over to Thena. He pushed Phastos out of his way, all but throwing him across the room and into the wall. The Fabricator's gears fell from the sky, tumbling and clinking around.
Kingo restrained him from launching himself at him again. "C'mon, man, he's kinda going through it."
Phastos wrestled his vest from Kingo's grasp. "We shouldn't have come."
"Stop it," Sersi stood from her place at Ajak's shoulder. Her eyes darted to her husband - now ex - for only a moment. They had chosen opposite sides of the room for a reason. "Both of you. It's not helping anything."
"If I can't do anything, what help am I supposed to offer?" Phastos shot back at his fellow Thinker, who became reticent in her chastisement. "Yeah, that's what I thought. Ajak hauled us all out here but this is the same as it was before."
"Phastos," even Ikaris chimed in to warn that lines were about to be crossed. It was particularly rich, coming from him.
"No!" he barked back at him. "No, we're all thinking it. We know what has to be done."
Eyes darted nervously from body to body. Phastos straightened himself up again and approached Gil from behind. "I'm sorry, Gil, I am. But you know what we have to do. The only answer is the erasure."
"No."
"Dammit!" Phastos cursed before he was pulled away again, this time by Ajak. "I don't like seeing her like this either! But I am offering the logical answer!"
"Phastos," Ajak cooed in her soft, lulling tones. "It's not helping."
"None of this is helping," he waved his hands around them. A room full of Eternal, advanced beings, rendered useless by a disease contained entirely within their sister's head. Not her brain, but her thoughts--something not even he could tinker with.
"No," Gilgamesh repeated, though, gazing down at Thena and brushing her hair away from her face. "She didn't want that."
"Gil," Sersi attempted this time, moving carefully. Kingo eyed them but she put her hand on her brother's arm. "We don't like it either. But we've tried everything else. It's not something we can heal, or change or even analyze. But maybe we can...erase it?"
"That still means takin' Thena with it," a dryer, colder voice offered from across the room. "And Gil's right, she didn't want that."
Makkari, beside Druig on the ledge of the greentank, made a face at her siblings. She told us: she wanted to remember.
"Take a look at her, Kari," Phastos signed at his sister. "Tell me what she's remembering in that state."
Druig swept forward, again rumpling Phastos' vest. "You don't gotta be such an ass about it, y'know 'at?"
"Enough!" Everyone's ears popped as Gilgamesh slapped his hand against the table. His palm only created so much noise, but his power built around it took the corner of it clean off. "Stop arguing about my wife while I'm right here."
Looks were traded again. Many details of the lives of those two were unknown to the rest of the Eternals. And perhaps to the shame of some of them, they realised they had failed to ask.
"Gil, buddy," Sprite attempted to alleviate some of the tension clawing at their throats. "We just wanna help Thena. Maybe...maybe we should consider the reset."
"You wouldn't understand."
Sprite physically flinched, turning away and deciding the rest of the conversation could be had without her, vanishing from sight. Kingo looked at the spot she occupied, patting the illusion of her shoulder. He picked his head up. "Gil, we have to make a choice."
"It's hers," he said gently, stroking her cheek again.
"Gilgamesh," Ajak sighed, leaving her stance between the stubborn forces of Phastos and Druig. "I understand how you feel about this. But the cause of this is Mahd Wy'ry, you know this. If we reset her, there is a chance we can have the old Thena back. From before."
From before even Tenochtitlan, she meant.
"A chance?" Gil scoffed. He tapped his fingertips against Thena's cheeks.
Thena's eyes opened slowly. The room tensed, not that she could see them. Her eyes were completely white.
"Thena," Ikaris tested, holding his hands out, the most ready for combat, even more than Kingo or Phastos. "Can you hear us?"
"Save it," Gil snarled openly at his brother. He stroked her cheek, "look at me, sweetheart."
Her head tilted, expression still blank.
"Let's get outta here," the Strongest Eternal whispered to her, wrapping her limp arms around his neck and scooping her up off the table. "We're leaving."
"Gil, please," Sersi attempted, even following him towards the door.
"Leave us," he said with a finality. He walked through the halls of their mothership for the last time, carrying his wife in his arms. He would carry her back to Australia if he had to. He would carry her until the planet itself split open completely and became an imploded supernova.
Thena's eyes remained blank.
"You and me, what do you say? You wanna take that chance?" he asked with both a smile and tears.
A few dripped down onto Thena's cheeks. Her expression didn't shift to match his, but he liked to imagine he saw her eyes flutter--some shred of his Thena still in there.
"Okay," he resolved, kissing her forehead. "Let's go home, then."

NOT MY GIF
Chapter 2
575 BC
Babylon
Kore launched vines up to the sky and wrapped them around a flying Deviant before forcing the beast to the ground. More deviants attack structures but Makkari moves people out of harm's way. Kingo and Thena are fighting two as Thena kills one.
“Hey, that one was mine! Oh, nevermind.” Kingo protests before spotting another and firing at it.
One spider-like creature chased after a girl who tripped and fell, but Ikaris flew in between the two and fired at the creature before Makkari used a sonic boom and multiple attacks to kill it.
Ikaris turned back to the girl and assured her, “Do not fear.”, before giving her a small smile.
Gilgamesh stood at the large gate in front of the city and ushered people inside before it closed. A giant bull-like deviant charged at him but the man quickly punched it causing it to flip behind him into the wall. It got up and went for him again and managed to throw the man, but Makkari caught him and placed him back on the ground,
Ikaris flew in and alongside Kingo fired at the beast. Kore wrapped thick vines around its limbs to stop its thrashing and even stabbed vines through it. Gilgamesh launched Thena on top of the beast and she began stabbing at the deviant. Makkari came in with a sonic boom, knocking the beast to the side. Gilgamesh uppercutted the Deviant launching it back, even though it got back up Gilgamesh slapped it effectively killing it.
The six then stood alongside each other watching out for any more deviants.
After a brief meeting with Arishem, Ajak entered the Domo and went to Phastos’ lab. There she found Phastos blueprinting something, Druig eating like normal, and Sprite semi laying on a table.
“Phastos. Did you go to the party last night like I told you to?” Ajak questioned.
He scoffed and awfully lied, “The party, yeah. It was-”
Druig cut him off and snitched with a smile, “He worked all night.”
Phastos turned to him and asked, “Who was talking to you?” Which made Druig smile more.
“Get a life. And where is Sersi?” Ajak asked.
“Late as usual.” Sprite answered, sitting up.
“I’m sorry, but I have something very exciting to show you, okay? Wait til you see this.” Phastos informed.
After a moment Ajak asked, “What is it?”
“It’s an engine. It moves steam from high pressure to low pressure. Uh, it’ll help them till their fields at an incredibly fast rate.” Phastos explained.
‘It’s gonna freak them out.” Sprite stated, messing with a large golden ring.
“I mean, they only have had the wheel 1,000 years, so…” Druig agreed, having stood up to get a drink.
“You know, we could do that thing where you use your mind to control them and then they could do it quicker.” Phastos ranted, tired of his teammates' sarcasm.
“Ajak, you listening to this?” Druig questioned.
“Phastos, this steam…” Ajak trailed off.
“Engine. It’s a steam engine.” Phastos stated.
“It’s too soon.” Ajak stated before Sersi rushed in. “And there she is.”
“What did I miss?” Sersi asked.
“Nothing. Just the screams of my deep disappointment.” Phastos said, sighing and walking to another side of the room.
“I am sure you have something simpler.” Ajak said.
“Simple. Okay, let’s see. Uh…Ladies and gentleman, I present to you the plow. ‘Cause that’s what it does. Plows dirt.” Phastos stated, disappointed.
“I met another group of settlers who are building their homes in the northern fields. They’ll need to plant their own crops.” Sersi brought up to try and help Phastos.
“Can’t Kore just do that? I mean, she can literally move mountains.” Sprite said, smirking.
“Thanks, Sersi. Thanks, Sprite.” Phastos said, genuinely then sarcastically.
“Listen, humanity may be coming along slower than some of us want. But there is no telling what wonders they will discover as they advance.” Ajak explained.
Later that night, a party was thrown in celebration for the Eternals. Sprite cast beautiful illusions in the sky while announcing to the Babylonians,
“The wonders of the world await you. Follow Gilgamesh and Enkidu into battle. Be forever inspired by their bravery and strength. You and your fellow man will go on great adventures. And become legends of your own!” Sprite finished, her illusions turning into fireworks as the crowd cheered.
She didn’t know that Kingo had been entranced the whole time. Sprite sat down next to him and Gilgamesh joined, drunk. Thena and Ikaris argued slightly as Thena left to go fight Deviants on her own. Though, she told Ikaris to make sure Kore knew where she had gone.
Makkari sped into the city with a chest and stopped in front of Druig, eating as usual. Druig said and signed, “My Beautiful Makkari. You’re late.”
“I needed to get good enough artifacts to trade.” Makkari signed before taking the items out of the chest and placing them on the table.
The men she had planned on trading with whispered with each other, “Just lie to her.”
Makkari quickly stopped the man from taking her goods, which shocked the men. She then signed as Druig translated in Babylonian, “I can sense vibrations. Even the tiniest movement. Including your voices when you speak.”
The men continued to look shocked as she continued, “Did you two just waste my time?”
“The emerald tablet you’re searching for is a myth!” One man explained, but the Eternals' attention was grabbed by a fight beginning.
Druig quickly used his power, causing the men to stop, slap themselves twice before cheering and hugging the person they were just fighting. Makkari nudged him, getting him to stop and laugh, and signed,
“When humans have conflict, Ajak tells us not to interfere.”
“Well, she also says that stealing is very very bad.” Druig retaliated, holding up one of the thing Makkari took.
She grabbed it from him and signed, “If you don’t tell, I won’t tell.”
“Deal.”
She lifted her chin with a smile and Druig mimicked her before the music caught their attention. Feet away from them was a circle of dancing people, Sersi and Kore were a part of that dance. Everyone let go to start doing their own thing and children went up to dance with the woman in pink. Kore danced and spun in circles forming red and yellow flower petals and letting them fall from her hand onto the children who began playing with them.
The pair looked at her with smiles as the children began asking her more about the Eternals. Kore looked at the children with a slight smirk as she formed realistic statues of earth and announced in Babylonian.
“There’s The Wise Ajak and The Brilliant Phastos. The Courageous Gilgamesh and The Graceful Thena. The Cunning Sprite and The Fabulous Kingo. The Determined Ikaris and The Marvelous Sersi. And finally, The Beautiful Makkari and The Handsome Druig. We will be here when Deviant s attack but this must not discourage you from training and fighting your own battles. You are human and capable of extraordinary things, so go out and live your lives, be caring and brave and I promise you will do things of legends!” Kore finished sending a flurry of gold flower petals into the air as the Babylonians cheered.
The party continued and some of the Eternals went up to Kore.
“I think you’re the only person to ever call Druig, handsome. Also I’m way better looking than that.” Kingo stated, jokingly, getting a couple laughs.
“Well, she got my looks spot on. Very handsome, no?” Gil asked, posing next to his statue.
“Why’d you have to out do my speech and show huh?” Sprite questioned, slightly nudging Kore with a smile.
“Well, I believe she forgot someone very important.” Druig remarked.
Kore looked around confused as to who she missed, “Who? I got everyone, didn't I?”
Druig walked up to her looked her in the eyes as she spoke, “You, The Lovely Kore.”
Kore sighed but then softly hit Druig’s shoulder as he chuckled, “You had me worried!”
“These are beautiful.” Makkari signed a compliment, looking at her and Druig’s statues.
“Thank you, though I guarantee I could never make them as beautiful as the originals.” Kore signed and spoke with a smile.
“Oh, I forgot, I have gifts for you all!’ Kore announced. She held Makkari’s wrist before concentrating, vines wrapped around her wrist then 11 flower petals sprouted on them, each a different color.
“Bracelets?” Sersi questioned,
“Mhm! Each petal represents one of us. And the best part is they’ll never die.” Kore explained, making one for Sersi.
She then moved on to Sprite as Phastos said, “You made immortal plant bracelets?”
“Yep, you don’t have to wear it though.” Kore said, in the process of making Gilgamesh’s.
“You’re kidding. I’m never taking mine off.” Kingo exclaimed.
Finally Kore made Druig’s and then turned to Makkari to talk about something.
Druig smiled at his girls as the night continued on.

Just got back from watching Eternals. Spoilers after the cut.
I actually quite liked it. The room was full, a big applause followed the end of the movie and a bunch of teenage girls went absolutely bonkers when Harry Styles showed up in the post-credit scene. It was fun to witness.
So, I can't shake the feeling that Marvel are rushing things up. As I was watching the movie and they were doing the flashbacks I kept wondering why couldn't they have a show or something that introduced us to the Eternals before the movie came out? Because at times it felt like I was watching The Avengers without prior knowledge of Steve or Nat or Thor, etc.
I can't believe they killed off Ajak so soon. Salma is glorious and I wanted so much more from her. The scene with Ikaris where she's telling him she has changed her mind came out of nowhere. How can you have her in one scene as someone who's loyal to Arishem only to have her change her mind off screen. I would have wanted to see that.
Speaking of Ikaris, I was kinda worried they were going to go the "oh poor thing, we forgive you" route but I'm glad they didn't. Cry me a river, boy, you murdered Ajak in cold blood and it was a vicious death. No amount of "I'm sorry" is going to change that. I enjoyed watching him though, he kept reminding me of Scott! (the X-Men, not Lang).
I was disappointed greatly by Sersi. What did Gemma do besides looking sad all the freaking time? I was expecting so much more from her and at times it felt like she was there not able to do anything of value. Oh and she turned that deviant into a tree but they never explain how, do they?
I wanted more of Thena. So.Much.More. Angelina is an angel, I love that woman I swear, but that's besides the point. That scene with Ajak where she's trying to convince her to let go of her memories and remove everything that makes her who she is was so damn good, I loved it. But I want more of her and I hope we'll see her again.
Kingo was good fun but he wasn't fleshed out enough, same with the others. Not enough Makkari (I loved her fight against Ikaris though, people were actually cheering for her in the cinema, like literally clapping and encouraging her, it was awesome to watch lol), not enough Druig and the relationship between Gilgamesh and Thena was lovely to see but I think he had potential that didn't get all the necessary attention.
I loved Phastos and I had read people who were mad because according to them he had been blamed for Hiroshima, and I swear I didn't see that at all. He's the tech expert, he was trying to help the humans then with all the advancements they ended up creating the atomic bomb, but at no point is Phastos blamed for it. He feels guilty but that doesn't mean he is (he isn't!). I was actually expecting Ajak to tell him that, it was weird she didn't though. Apart from that I loved his little family and the kiss. It's not much but it's something, they had two married guys and their little kid. I want more, Marvel. We demand more.
Then with Sprite it's fun because when she used her magic at first I thought "hey, she's like Loki" and then as she stabs Sersi and tells her "I'm envious of you" I thought "yes, she's Loki" lol Seriously though, it was a shame she ended up as basically a side character because she was great in the very few things she was allowed to do.
Oh oh, and Phastos helped Odin defeat Laufey in Tonsberg? And little Thor would chase him around when he was on Asgard? Like, hello?! You can't just say that then not tell us the whole story, come on! I have a million questions about it! Loki was around, right? Did Phastos know what Odin had done with Hela a while before? Hell, if he knew how come he didn't do anything, Odin was warmongering like a freaking maniac at the time! So many questions. Little Thor! Damn, I want an Asgard series.
All in all, I had a lot of fun watching it, I left wanting more which I suppose is a good sign, but it felt way too rushed and we should have gotten a previous movie to get to know these characters before this one was released.
And I'm aware I'm only saying this because I'm not a comic book reader but it's not cool to have a post-credit scene where a voice is heard off-screen, a name is said, and I have no idea what's going on and I have to go online to check what happened there. Not a fan of that, man.
Oh and Star...whatever-his-name-is (Eros? dunno) I don't care about him, he's Thanos' blood so I hate him already.

Hey :)
how about some intense action and angst for our beloved Thenamesh?
The Eternals are fighting deviants as always but this particular fight is different. They are stronger so for the first time Thena actually struggles against 2 pretty big and strong ones so Gil jumps in between them and fights both of them and telling Thena she should help the others because they are struggling too. It’s a hard fight and throughout the fight gets injured more and more without any of them noticing it. He kills both of them and when the others are coming to him to discuss future steps they realize how badly he is injured. (You know like broken bones, badly bleeding and more)
Thena pulled her staff from the head of the last Deviant of the pack. She looked around, taking in the full scale of the destruction caused. The city was in ruin around them, with crumbled buildings and spots of flame dotted around them. "Everyone here?"
Ikaris landed in front of her, watching for Sersi to emerge with the other Thinkers from the back lines of their fight. Makkari slowed to a speed their eyes could follow, walking back alongside Kingo. They all had some sign of the fight's toll in them.
"I've never seen so many at once," Ikaris addressed the team, looking around at them as the sun set. "Or ones so large. We should-"
"Gilgamesh."
The other Eternals looked over at the haunted sounding whisper.
"Where's Gilgamesh?" Thena asked aloud, although it was clear she didn't expect an answer from any of them. She walked forward, pushing past Ikaris as if he weren't even there.
"Thena," he growled at her as she moved him out of her way. His feet just barely left the ground, "we have to talk."
"Gil?" she called out, barely above a whisper.
"Hey!" Emerging from a pile of rubble, the Strongest Eternal waved at them. He had his usual smile on, but it had some other conditions along with it. Blood from his head was running down his face, making him close one eye against it. The hand that wasn't waving was lying limp--dangling at the end of a useless arm. He was hobbling.
"Gilgamesh!"
The Warrior Eternal - the Goddess of War herself - ran, throwing herself forward before he could fall. She caught him, pulling his head against her shoulder, into the crook of her neck. She lowered them to the ground, letting him crumple around her.
"Gil," she squeezed his arms, although he groaned. She could feel the breaks in his bones, the swelling around his strained muscles. She nudged his head gently, immediately able to see where the Deviant had bitten or clawed his head through his thick black hair. His knee was probably all but shattered.
"Gil!" the rest of the Eternals rushed over in concern for their teammate.
"Don't!"
They all stumbled to a halt as Thena held him to her, glaring at them the same way she would any enemy. They could all feel the air around them crackling with her energy.
"No one is coming anywhere near him," she ordered, holding them at bay from their own brother. "Go get Ajak. Bring her here."
"Thena," Phastos dared to reason with the most stubborn Eternal. "We can take him back into the temple. She can-"
"No!" Thena barked again, holding Gil tighter, instinctively protesting to anything that might separate her from him. "I'm not making him take another step!"
"We can carry him, T," Kingo suggested. He lowered himself down as he entered her periphery, as if approaching a wild animal defending its wounded mate. He half expected to get hissed and growled at any second now. "Please?"
She shook her head, though, her fingers splaying through his hair at the back of his head, her other hand firmly on his back. "He's hurt, Kingo. He's not going anywhere."
Sersi had yet to speak up, but rather found herself being looked at by the others. She did have arguably the most calming presence of the Eternals, Ajak aside--or maybe even included. She tiptoed forward. "Thena, what if..."
Thena looked at her sister, green eyes watery and fragile as frost. She held Gilgamesh tighter, "please, Sersi. He's in so much pain."
Sersi furrowed her brows. She understood both arguments--she really did. The team was firm in their belief in bringing Gil back inside to the Domo. It was how they did things. But Sersi only had to look at Thena, her resolute sister, curled up on the ground and holding the man she loved with screaming desperation.
Sersi placed her palms on the ground, growing a spot of thick, soft grass under the pair. "I'm afraid I can't do much more at the moment. Just stay here."
"Sersi," Ikaris frowned, but she shook her head at him, pulling Makkari with her to retrieve their Prime.
Druig let out a rough sigh, sounding just as done with it all as he always did. Without Makkari by his side, his patience left him. He walked forward, kneeling down in front of them. Thena judged exactly how close was close enough, and he respected her boundary. "Oi, Gil."
The Strongest Eternal let out a painful sounding wheeze.
"You wan'us to move you back 'nside?" Druig mumbled out with his lazy tongue. "Or you wanna wait here?"
Ikaris, Kingo and Phastos all traded looks, debating when they should risk their lives and try to separate Thena from Gil by force. Sprite was eager to watch the carnage if that was the option chosen.
Gil drew in a shaky breath, only to deflate on the exhale. He sagged against Thena even heavier, but the arm he could still used wrapped around her like it would a pillow. He nuzzled against her neck--the only exposed part of her in her armour. "Stay."
Thena turned her head, kissing whatever part of him she reached first that way. "I'm right here."
The others present rolled their eyes (Sprite faked a gagging noise).
Druig patted his knees as he stood again, "well, that's 'at. Nothin' to do but wait."
It wasn't as if it would be hours. Ajak was most likely almost back to them with Sersi and Makkari in tow. They gave their teammates some space, hovering around the created patch of meadow.
Druig sat himself a respectful distance away, back turned to the affections of arguably two of his favourite siblings. Ikaris and Phastos turned away by sheer uncomfortability. Sprite laid down on the ground, now fully uninterested. Kingo joined her.
Thena continued running her fingers through Gil's hair, listening to every pained breath he took and timing her own around them, as if it would help--as if she could alleviate his pain. Every second Gilgamesh suffered was another Deviant she would hunt down and annihilate. "Soon, my love."
Gil sighed, though. The minutes all bled together in his hazy mind, but he supposed it could be worse. For now, he was safely within the embrace of his sweet Warrior Eternal. She was soft, and gentle, and there was no safer place for him to await his healing than in her arms.
