Living with a Ghost: Gilbert
Tumblr media
A Fanfic and HC post
Tags: Slight angst, ghostbert, modern au for the mc.
If you enjoy this, please let me know! I may consider doing this with more characters, under the same premise.
Tumblr media
There was always a catch. You swore to yourself that you had just been paranoid at the time because for once, for once, something good was happening in your spiraling life. A taste of joy that you were clutching tight in your hands, trying to wish away the faults that could be hidden within.
An apartment. Affordable, so affordable, and in great care. No shitty ‘landlord’ specials were hidden about the premises, the view was alright, you weren’t crazy about the buildings around you, but how can you argue with the perfect reading nook right at the window? You knew all you had to do was ignore the way too nice corporate building and focus on the sky beside it to accept the view.
Small, but not cramped. A perfect size for you. Away from frustrating family and previous roommates, away from the town you struggled in endlessly. A brand new start.
And. Well. A ghost.
The first night you slept there, betwist a flurry of boxes and makeshift furniture, nothing… really happened. Maybe a few small things had been moved around, but honestly that could have just been you misremembering where you put things in your initial moving exhaustion.
You could have sworn that you hadn't opened your box of books due to the fact that your bookshelves weren't even put together yet, but you also would use books to lull you asleep , so... It wasn't out of the question that an exhausted version of you blearily searched for a comfort between pages, before passing out on an unsheeted mattress.
Second night, a glass shattered. So out of the blue in the silence as you read that you ended up clapping the book shut when you jumped. You peered around the corner with a broom in hand brandished as a weapon, only to find a mess of broken glass, and nothing more. You kept explaining it away as perhaps there was a lean on the counter, but you didn't remember leaving a glass out to begin with..
Smaller instances kept happening in a similar fashion, until it all culminated into an event you couldn't explain away, because no matter how much you tried, you couldn't deny what you saw.
In it's core, it wasn't as dramatic as chairs or knickknacks floating through the halls, or blood written on the walls. It was simple, really - a figure behind you in the mirror. One that didn't fade away no matter how much you blinked, nor rubbed at your eyes- no, in fact, when you did so, he laughed at you. Mockingly.
And what does a person do when faced with such blatant proof of some supernatural phenominon existing in front of them? Well... They kept in mind how difficult it was to find an apartment at this price, and the stubborness they wield.
Tumblr media
Your first method was simply ignoring him - which... seemed successful at first. A couple of weeks containing peaceful silence, until you were greeted by your living room - full of books and memorabilia - overturned completely. Nothing broken, somehow, but enough of a clear How Dare You for ignoring him. Once that had been 'resolved' through many curses from you and what sounded like ghostly laughter, you met face to face with your spector roommate. Well. As much as you could see, anyway.
He sat at your kitchen island as if he belonged there, smiling as you paused in the entryway. Seeing a ghost in the morning light was an oddity. In contrast to his dark clothing - a grey button up it seemed, along with black slacks - the light behind him showed how he wasn't truly opaque. If you weren't careful, you could lose bits of him to your surroundings.
"Come now, don't act as if you can't see me now. You'd be doing both of our intelect a disservice."
Carefully, you sat across from him, trying to keep from staring too intently.
"There we go. I'm growing tired of our cat and mouse games - I suppose this is where we can meet each other halfway." He spoke breezily, as if this was such a normal occurance for you, before narrowing his eyes slightly, "I won't be answering any trivial questions about my... abilities."
"But... What about your intent?" You attempted to relax your shoulders, but found yourself crossing your hands instead, "You keep breaking things, or making loud noises - "
"If I wanted to kill you, I would have done so by now." A pause, and then a sigh, almost a mutter, "I dislike being ignored, little rabbit."
"Little...rabbit?"
He ignored your questioning, straightening up his posture. Serious, but his smile didn't match up with his eyes. "For every question I answer for you, you will answer two of mine."
"Wait-"
"I can always test my abilities with othr objects - you seem to fancy that big, black window in your living area."
You paused, trying to match up the description with - "My TV? You... Oh, you're much older than I thought."
...
In the hours of sitting at that kitchen island together, it's there you learn many facts about him, while he learns too many about you.
He's able to give you the exact years he lived, with more of an assumption of his death. Despite his form, his memory is crisp and solid until it comes to the exact date of his death, but he doesn't seem to mind...?
He toys with the empty cup in front of him - a habit, getting drinks for those you talk to - but focuses entirely on you when you reveal more about yourself.
He pressures you to divulge random things after the basics of details of this current decade and similar - hobbies, interests, small morality tests. He seems to be searching for answers to something, but it's difficult to suss out.
Once night crosses the threshold, his form glistens in some areas, fades with the dark in others. His red eye stares at you expectantly, before sighing dramatically.
"Guess we're now 'room mates'... or whatever it is you called it."
Tumblr media
Gilbert has been dead since his original timeframe. His heart condition was what tore him away from his time.
It wasn't unexpected. It came when busy, of course, and he remembers it vaguely due to the amount of pain and brainfog he had at the time.
His most prominant thought from that moment was the lamenting of never meeting his 'little rabbit' on the terms he had wished for. She knew nothing of him past the horror stories, and while it seemed apt and fitting, he had at least wanted to know if she had read his book...
He can't remember the early years of his ghost form, or so he says. He won't divulge to you the way it felt to know he would be stuck watching time go on, the hard work he spent his life achieving to amount to nothing, as it repeated again and again.
How he watched the two closest to him weep in private. How their lives changed even without him there to attempt to maintain them. How he was stuck with limitations on how far he could go, with no hope of moving on.
The years blurred together, centuries passing as he remained enfixed to specific locations, watching it all change listlessly, until his present matched closer to yours.
Apartments were odd, he had decided. The tennants were rare, as he often scared them off when they proved annoying. He was ready to do the same to you until he got a glimpse of how you looked.
it was as if his 'little rabbit' had been reborn. Did he believe in reincarnation? He didn't, no, but given his ghostly form, a gaping hole in his chest pleaded for it. Even just a little. At odds with his inherent skepticism.
But what was the point in attempting to bridge a connection if you were weakwilled?
So he scared you. multiple times. How else was he going to test bringing forth the effort of talking to you? It wouldn't matter if you ran off in the end.
So when you didn't, stubbornly ignoring him as if he was a cat looking for attention, he decided a talk was worth it after all.
It didn't take long for his heart to clench, despite how annoyed it made him. You were nearly the same in many ways, and the parts that didn't add up were likely due to the times.
More visits. More tests. More and more discussions. You started calling him 'Gil'. His heart felt again for the first time in what felt like eons, and he despised it.
What was he doing? He'd have to watch you pass just as he did Roderic and Walter. You'd be gone with nothing left behind for him, and the world would keep spinning.
But...
Was it such a terrible thing to enjoy the moment?
You were learning his moods. He was learning your schedule. You didn't open discussions directly, but deliberately left space for him to sit by you.
Some nights, when ill, you even pathetically called for his company. For him to grab you water from the kitchen, or pills from wherever you left them.
And just as pathetically, he entertained it. Over and over again, until there was the routine of 'sleeping' together.
No matter how much his heart yearned for it, there was no warmth shared between you. His 'body' chilled you at any point of contact. Your touch went through him in fleeting sensations. There would always be a wall neither of you could breech.
But it wasn't in his nature to give up from that alone, was it?
Tumblr media
I'm not sure why I wrote this. We looked at prompts back when I used to stream my writing, and it led to me thinking about ghostbert, and wanting a situation kinda similar to the ghost situation in Angel. (If you don't know the show.... i can't recommend it. But scary ghost becomes domesticated roommate for a character.)
it's all over the place, it was originally supposed to be 6 paragraphs and the rest be concise, clear, bulletpoints, but I couldn't stop trying to fill in nonexistant gaps, and here we are. this doesnt feel complete to me, but none of my posts ever are. i put them out to stop writing on them and to be free from my sins once more.

BROUGHT TO JUSTICE | Bruce Wayne
☆ premise: you knew you had to do something after the joker killed jason, even if bruce wouldn't be able to save you.
☆ pairing: bruce wayne x fem!wife!reader
☆ warnings: gore descriptions, hurt no comfort, angst, death depiction and mention
☆ a/n: been a while since i uploaded a fic on this account. so many drafts and i couldn't focus on finishing bc i kept going back and forth lol. anyways, forced myself to finish this bruce fic i've had since last year. didn't have a specific bruce in mind writing this, hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
'He was never going to stop. You did the right thing,' you told yourself. You spared Gotham of further terror at the hands of the psychopathic clown. He didn't deserve to live—not after he murdered the one you held most dear.
"What did you do?"
You snapped out of your trance-like state, looking up to find Bruce standing in front of you in his costume. Only now, you became aware of the cold metal of the crowbar in your hands. Only now, you became aware of the crimson blood that covered you from head to toe. Only now, you became aware of the lifeless body of the Joker lying at your feet.
"I only did what you couldn't do." You said as you dropped the crowbar, the sound of metal hitting concrete echoing in the abandoned warehouse you had lured the Joker into.
"Why... why did you do this?!" Bruce yelled, grabbing you by your shoulders, trying to process how you were able to commit something even he couldn't bring himself to do.
"Because you didn't save my Jason!" You spat at him, your salty tears mixing with the blood splattered on your face before dripping down your chin and onto the ground. "You didn't save our boy—"
"Do you really believe that's an excuse to take a life?!"
Your jaw clenched at his words—you couldn't believe Bruce was using his stupid code of honor to defend letting that good-for-nothing maniac live after what he did.
"He tortured your son to death, and you let him get away with it." You hissed, venom dripping from every word you said. "And it's not just Jason. He terrorized the citizens of Gotham for too long, and the only thing you ever did about it was put him in a damn asylum he'd eventually escape from."
Bruce's lips formed a thin line across his face, unable to give you a response. From the looks of it, you could tell he knew you were right—at least about the never-ending cycle of Joker escaping Arkham and the Batman putting him back in.
"You know why I couldn't kill him." He finally settled on.
You let out a throaty chuckle laced with disdain for the man in front of you, shaking your head at your husband's simplistic reply. "Well, it's a good thing you don't have to—not anymore, at least. I did all of this for you."
Before either of you could say anything else, blue and red lights pierced through the broken glass windows of the warehouse, and the sound of sirens got louder. You could hear the screeching of car breaks, followed by Commissioner Gordon's voice booming, "This is the GCPD, and we have you surrounded! Come out now!"
"You should go," you said, having already accepted your eventual arrest by the Gotham City Police Department the moment you had put your plan into action.
"I won't leave—"
"It will look bad if they see you here," you interrupted him. "Right now, you're not my husband. You're the Batman. Unless you want to be the one to turn me in, I suggest you go now."
Bruce stayed quiet, knowing he couldn't save you from your predicament. Everything that led up to the Joker's death all pointed to you. It was almost as if you wanted to get caught with how the clown's death mirrored Jason's; you didn't bother to cover up your tracks, either. They may not be as useful as they should be in this crime-ridden city, but the GCPD isn't incompetent enough to not connect the dots.
"Just go, Bruce. Please. I don't want you to see what happens next." You planted a lingering kiss on your husband's cheek—careful not to get any hint of evidence on his suit—before heading towards the warehouse entrance to face Commissioner Gordon and his men.
The squelching of entrails and blood beneath the soles of your shoes followed your every step as you inched towards the door. You gripped the rusty handle with a bloody hand, taking a deep breath. You heard the sound of rustling behind you and look back to find the Batman already gone.
If it wasn't for the wailing of the police sirens, you swore you would've been able to hear a pin drop from the shock Gordon and his people had when you stepped foot outside the warehouse.
You raised your hands in the air, showing the entire unit of police officers undeniable proof of what you'd done. Confusion contorted on some of the officers' faces while others lowered their weapons, all of them unable to wrap their head around how one of Gotham's most esteemed socialites ended up covered in blood from head to toe.
"Sir, what do we do?" You could hear Officer Montoya ask hesitantly to the GCPD's renowned commissioner.
"Arrest her."
Next thing you know, your face is pressed against the pebbly ground and cold, thin metal is wrapped around your wrists behind your back. From the corner of your eye, you could see the feet of officers walking past you and into the warehouse.
You're brought back on your feet and walked to the nearest police car. Before you're put inside, you hear one of the officers shout—
"Fucking hell, she killed the Joker!"
Once you're seated in the backseat, the car starts moving. The sounds of the engine and the sirens filling your ears, almost deafening. You look out of the window, and you spot the silhouette of the Batman atop of a building against the moon's bright light.
You couldn't help but smile a little to yourself. As much as you did it for yourself, you did it for him. Now, the Batman didn't have to worry about a psychotic clown terrorizing Gotham City.

For the love of... Cite your studies by name. The quotes are not returning specifics, making it impossible to verify if, say, the authors were referring to endogenic plurality when they referenced 'simulating alters' or if that is mere conflation on your part. Please also ditch the red and large text while you're at it. It's causing readability issues and annoyance, respectively.
"Before a person can ever say they are endogenic, they first must rule out these other factors, as well as DID, which are already proven ways to experience the above phenomena."
I reject the premise that someone must be immediately and absolutely correct before they can identify themselves as anything, or that those alternative explanations would have to be ruled out rather than ruled in in the case of apparent endogenic plurality.
I do not understand your disbelief regarding this phenomenon when it is purely internal by its very nature. Since when has self report been insufficient evidence for purely internal experiences? Must I get into an mri to prove to you I have meditated? To prove that I am really sad when I describe a terrible thing that has happened to me? Or is that assumed and I must instead prove that I feel nothing when describing similar?
Change a few words in your statement: 'there is no evidence to prove "gender incongruence" can be caused outside of Gender Dysphoria. With that said, you also have not provided positive evidence. Just because it cannot be disproven, does not mean it has been proven, and does not give tucutes the right to say that.'
I can tell that you really dislike the analogy but not only are none of your objections to it relevant to the analogous parts I am attempting to draw attention to, but I reject some of them. Per instance, when you imply that gender identity can be freely changed.
"I have never once called these people "trenders", I have never called them delusional, and I'm not even sure what you mean by "unperson"."
That was the general 'you', referring to anti-endos, but you have literally said that the experiences of endogenics may be explained by schizophrenia (which can include delusion) and have claimed that endogenic alters do not have consciousness. I see no other way of interpreting that other than you saying that what they call alters are not people. That is dehumanization.
"I'd assume with your logic here, if a singular person claims demons exist, then demons do exist." Strawman. Did you miss the part where we're talking about purely internal phenomenon? Is the demon purely internal? No?
"Why not rad-queers ? TransIDs ? Let's just validate everyone ! See the problem here ?"
I have no idea what those are.
I will happily go over... Whatever it is you quoted when you cite them by name. Google has a search term limit and quotemining is free, so.
I think my issue with anti-endos saying that "not believing in endos is like not believing in religion!" is that 1). it's an identity, and 2). they don't even treat us like how a person would treat a religion they didn't believe in.
Like okay, let's say you had a friend who was really big into Christianity, and followed the Bible faithfully (like no eating pork or eating red meat on Fridays, no working on the Sabbath, not worshipping idols, etc. Very faithful). If you wanted to be friends with him, you'd at least have to entertain the fact that he believes in Christianity, right? And though you don't have to participate in the Christianity yourself, you do have to acknowledge his dietary preferences, the way he will sometimes thank God or start praying right where you two stand and how he sometimes does things with religious motivations in mind. You couldn't ignore that without being a bad friend, or at least breaking a couple of laws (you couldn't ignore his dietary preferences, as it would be tampering with his food and contaminating it) so you'd have to remain respectful. You're not believing in what he believes, but respecting that he believes it, and behaves accordingly.
Anti-endos typically don't afford us that level of respect, though. Usually when I've seen someone say "they shouldn't have to believe in endos because it'd be like forcing your religion onto someone" usually they mean that they don't even want to acknowledge your headmates because that would be involving them in your beliefs. They usually don't mean it in a "I'll respect your identities and preferences even if I don't believe it," they usually mean it in a "I won't even believe it until you show some proof, and until then I don't have to respect anything about it". Which is their prerogative, but since it involves integral parts of our identities which most of us cannot change (it's easier to change religions than to undo plurality) don't be surprised when people compare it to transphobia.

hi! i've been reading some of your older fics and was wondering if there's any merit in watching buffy for the first time in the year 2024
This may not be obvious, but this is actually an extremely complicated and highly subjective question. I'll try to go on for too long.
As background: my mother loved Buffy and its spin-off Angel growing up. It was our Bible (besides the actual Bible). Not kidding, she was on the forums and fan groups and wrote fanfiction for it and everything (These days, she's really into kdramas and Asian dramas, and calls me about how the Thai seem like big fans of gay people). So I'm quite biased.
BTVS is both a product of its times and ahead of its times. It was a show about feminism and the struggle of living in this world as a woman, when very few shows were doing that. It was the first show to have a long-lasting lesbian couple, and the first show to depict a kiss between them. For better or for worse, it was one of the codifiers of broody vampire boyfriend. It was pretty unafraid to be experimental in a lot of what it did. It had incredibly complex and nuanced character work and growth that I still aspire to. Spike's arc is still matched in quality only by Avatar's Zuko. Angel's long term arc, from Buffy to his spin-off series, still makes him one of the most complex characters on TV. It had the most complex depiction of depression on TV at the time and I still think it's one of the best. I think the show had very high highs.
It also had very low lows. Some of the feminism is problematic in retrospect. The sapphic couple has a rather famous element that was severely problematic. There are, overall, some deeply atrocious arcs that I can appreciate objectively but not in practice. Xander: a whole-ass character aged awfully. On a meta level, the workplace conditions were bad (thanks, Whedon.) There are no people of color. The spoiler's sake I won't go into detail on this, but in general the good stuff was so influential and the bad stuff was just awful.
I think these days people tend to brush off the entire thing because it's Whedon. That is more than fair. But I'd also say that Whedon & Buffy is extremely similar to Brian Michael Bendis & Ultimate Spider-Man. Bendis was fantastic at writing sassy, bouncy, permanently stressed-out teens - issue was, he wrote entirely different serious adult characters the way he wrote these sassy teens. Same with Whedon: the annoyingly constant quips are perfect for Buffy, because that's who the characters are. They're awful in Marvel, because Steve Rogers is not Xander. Kinda similarly, Buffy was genuinely feminist for 90s TV - issue is, Whedon has not grown or developed his views, and now his works feel so sexist (oh my fucking god why did you treat Natasha like that). After a certain point it's egotistical: you're writing like that because you're Joss Whedon and it's how you write, not because it's what's best for the characters and story. But it was really important to me to get the character voices right, and it's freaking difficult to endlessly write dialogue that distinct, full of voice, witty, and clever.
I think BTVS & Angel TV's greatest influence on my writing is how intensely character-driven both of those shows were, and how intricate the characters were. What every character did was something they would do, if that made sense. Even the stuff I hated to watch, that made me uncomfortable, was the culmination of so much (usually). I think I also picked up the constant wit and humor lol. On a personal level, the conversations I would have with my mother where she broke down the character motivations and composition of the story was my first exposure to looking at storytelling from an analytical perspective and a framework of critical analysis, which was an approach I carried into the rest of the media I consumed and that was the primary reason I was able to become a decent writer. Thanks, Mom. Have fun with your kdramas.
TL:DR: There is merit, especially if you care about good character work. There are things about it that may make you want to drop it, which is extremely valid. Season 1 is rough but interesting, Season 2 and 5 are the best, Season 3 is pretty good, Season 4 and 7 skippable, and Season 6 is........epic highs, epic lows......

I always found dunmeshi to be kind of... Scary. Not like horror scary, but Horrors scary yk? Cause it's like, the journey was built on a small chance and like deluding yourself into believing Falin was still gonna be fine. Even when there were several signs that she probably was already digested by then. I kind of watched the whole show thinking that she's dead already and this was just a group of people who couldn't accept that.

Poor Dream, enjoying his days with friends on the server, wearing friendship bracelets gifted to him, and filling many scrapbooks and journals with all the special moments he cherishes with his friends....not even realizing how many would not just turn on him but seek to kill him in the most painful ways they could think of when the plan was enacted

OKAY SO IVE HAD THIS POST ROTTING IN MY DRAFTS ALMOST EVER SINCE MARISOL POSTED THIS AND I JUST GOT REMINDED BECAUSE THE MOST RECENT PAGE IS SUUUUPER RELEVANT, nothing like the progression of relevant things to make you realize you’re making fake progress on things you should’ve done done by now, ANYWAY
Why tho? Is it just too uncomfortable to make a version of Lanyon with white skin? Like, does it feel like you’re whitewashing him or something? Cause I could understand that, I suppose. I’ve actually wondered about your design choices for a while now. I’ve tried looking for a post about it but. You know. Every Elias related thing I can find is either a plain reference sheet, or steeped in so many layers of lore and AUs and context in general that I don’t know that I can’t really figure out what I’m reading. I am taken with the titular premise of this AU, but where the fuck are you supposed to start? Can I make my own? With my own interpretation? Should I come up with a different name for Lanyon’s alter?
Also I went and made my own Elias design because I couldn’t stop thinking about it, and now I really wanna discuss our design choices.
Tumblr media
I considered not making him shorter, because why should his height have to change the same way Jekyll and Hyde’s did? But the fact of the matter is, Lanyon is the TALLEST fucking major character in TGS and if Elias wasn’t shorter than him it would just be weird. He’s not as short as Hyde though. Like, a little taller than Jasper. Not including the hat. I got his outfit from a cursory search down the Elias tag and decided to keep it because it’s basically what I was thinking of. Pale yellowish tan. Opposite of dark purple. Very good. Like it says in the picture, his hair type changes as well as getting longer. I gave him concept-Lanyon’s bangs, but put it in a ponytail!
Tumblr media
I’m aware that the reason Hyde’s eyes are green is probably because the potion is green, but LOOK. Clear blue ones because it’s the opposite eye color of dark brown! It’s so satisfying to me!
Tumblr media
If you can’t read the words, they’re in the image description.
This is mostly to illustrate what I think an alter of Lanyon’s created by HJ7 would be like. Again, I’ve never read any of the posts about your AU for reasons, so this is my first impression, any resemblance to existing semi-original AU characters is purely coincidental. I had a whole paragraph about what I believe Lanyon would be like under the influence of the potion, but he already explained it pretty clearly in canon because I DIDN’T WRITE THIS IN TIME, I HAD SO MANY CHANCES, WHY. -Anyway, what he would be like is sincere. Jekyll covered up his passion in an “I can’t be aggressive or unpalatable or want too much or indulge in things very far when I DO want them” so Hyde is intense in those ways. Lanyon covered up his passion in an “I can’t let anyone know I have a heart” sort of way, so Elias would be intense in THAT way. And it would break Jekyll's understanding of Hyde being evil entirely because Hyde might be his “dark side” but if anything, Elias is more like Robert’s light side. Neither of them are evil. It doesn’t have anything to do with good and evil.
I really want to talk about your design choices and why you went with them and compare it with mine, do you talk about it anywhere? Can we talk about it after this?
If the headcanon that Edward Hyde is made of recessive genes is right then Elias would probably look like this lol

Questionable so proceed with caution vlklvjv im so sorry if i convince you to see it and you dont like i#moving on I Have. done nothing but listen to Eternal Flame for the past week its been stuck in my head ever since#BUT FR as i said I Really Liked It. i heard that theres another/original version so i wanna watch that at some point#if i care to remember and find it vjaelkjeakl but as This Movie On Its Own i had a swell time !!!#it does a really good job of teetering that line of#'this is just a quaint little sometimes-awkward get-together' and 'this is so stressful i just might throw up'#it did a good job of keeping me invested and on my toes i guess- it bitters innocuous scenarios really well which i like#like i wasnt sure WHEN whatever scene i was watching would turn sour but i always had that feeling it /would/- that lingering feeling#the horror in this is more psychological than violent- it only gets crazy by the last quarter honestly#which isnt bad! i like psych horror and Christ. the amount of times i was just grimacing in my seat like Suspense Is The Word#like imagine a dinner party where people only say controversial things and you dont want to blow up the situation#so you just try to be really polite about pivoting from the topic. but they keep going. thats basically the horror of this movie at its cor#i do have SOME comments about some bits but i wanna rewatch the movie at some point to be thorough on my comments jglejlakj#yk do a rewatch where im. NOT jokin bout with my brother- THO TBF DESPITE THAT I was still invested#like its premise is so. simple? in concept imo. but 'simple' isnt automatically bad in my eyes and i really liked how it played out#i dont watch movies much tho so maybe its been done different but there is ONE thing tht definitely made me like. HUH#but its nothing super major i dont htink? I MEAN IT WAS KINDA BIG BUT there were signs to it being revealed. still it made me vjLJ like god#i cant explain tho cause SPOILERS but ... Yeah. its not that crazy it just definitely took me by surprise for how quick the reveal was#tldr: if you ever wanted to watch an awkward dinner party where you couldnt do anything about it this is the movie to watch#and i like that. i like that because i hate myself apparently jVLAEKJVAEKLJ#coupled with horror it was also funny at times which i felt did help with that underlying 'when will this be tainted' horror#i really liked that ... when normalcy or the feeling of safety can be taken away in an instant#if you watch it and wanna talk bout it more in depth ill prob have rewatched it by then and id like to give a more. Detailed review#OR AT LEAST ONE NOT SO RAMBLY VELKAVJEALKJ im not good at reviewing things .... i just know when i like or dont like somethin ..#ive only had my bro to talk bout this with and he doesnt really. Give his thoughts or opinions too much like i do#so id be happy to talk bout it and get your perspective !!!! but only if you want Again if you dont like it im so sorry erlakjaekl#god theres so much more i want to say but im just rambling and i wanna be brief for you my friend vlakjlakvlkj#anyway yeah. those are my quick thoughts. i was Very Normal about james mcavoy for most of this movie ty for reading

They ARE giving a couple who are getting married 2 months into the relationship because they are soooo in love, when literally everyone around them sees how bad of and idea it is and is already betting on the divorce date.
The Duchess Affair expects me to believe that Nat wouldn’t get bored within his first few months of marriage to MC and go back to weaseling his way into the beds of the neglected and horny women of high society? Ok

every time i so much as think about that scene where light looks at porn magazines while scowling i go into hysterics its genuinely the funniest thing i've ever seen
#the funniest thing is is that i truly believe he thought he was being 100% convincing. that that's normal behavior for a completely straight#completely allosexual man#light is fucking awful and i hate him but also there's nuance to him. and sometimes i can get a little like. oh thinking about his life#before the series. specifically factoring in my headcanons about him being gay aroace and autistic and stuff. ppl have written some rlly#good fics surrounding those topics.... but yeah thats not even canon stuff but i dont care#anyways its not in a way of making excuses for how he is i just think it adds more to his character#hes total garbage but i think theres really interesting stuff with him when it comes to how he's.... VERY disconnected from others#just in general. he's like aware of how to act ''normal'' on like the most textbook surface level without being like. Aware enough to#be able to make it more convincing. and as ridiculous as it is i do see some of myself in him in that sense#also that person who said light and L is just autistic guy who's been masking his entire life vs autistic guy who's never masked in his#entire life. LITERALLY EXACTLY. genuinely perfect way to describe them they are both so similar when it comes to this#but the ways they go about it are very different. light has been playing the part of the perfect son his whole life. L doesnt try to change#himself for anyone and doesnt care when people think hes weird. both of them arent very socially aware and havent had any real friends#their whole lives. its such a fascinating parallel between them#i could go on a whole fucking thing about how light was pretending to be someone he's not around his family and at school and everything#long before he got the death note BUT. i wont. at least not right now#jesus christ how did i go from laughing about him with the magazine to this. my bad#derailed my own damn post. idk swagever#will say rq tho. watched a vid on youtube that pointed out how light expected his family to think nothing of the fact that he's gone to#such drastic measures to hide his diary when making the plan with hiding the death note which is like#that level of dedication would NOT be normal. so the fact that light expects his family to think nothing of it......#i mean you could read that as light just once again being socially unaware. but it could also imply that light's family kind of Knows#he's hiding something and just doesn't address it. (he's gay. im talking about him being gay)#the video also referenced this comic that i didnt rb cause the actual premise of it (lawlight wedding) is um.#not at all my kind of thing. BUT it was light describing himself as a house with a basement when his family sees him as a one story house#and i thought that was such a cool analogy#ANYWAYYYSSSS i need to go to bed. thanks if you read my ramblings#serena.txt#death note posting#infizero.analysis

oh yeah Harley Quinn and the Joker is a separate thing that doesn't have any connection to the Unburied-verse so idk why they put it in the same playlist? probably because it's both batman audio dramas geared towards adults? but it's got a different cast and everything and most importantly Sound Mind Batman is a white man so the podcasts can't be in the same universe
i see, good to know bc i am enjoying batman unburied but i. as a rule have like zero interest in anything joker branded so i was not excited about the prospect of listening to however many episodes of harley quinn and the joker podcast so thanks for saving me the trouble of listening to the whole thing waiting for it to tie in lol

Nothing shows more contempt for the genre, the medium, and especially the audience than the presence of itermittent atmospheric music in found footage.
I'm serious.
Unless it's a supernatural horror where the premise is the entity emits a spooky sound when nearby, don't do it.
Have the confidence in your own moviemaking to let your work stand on its own. Have the respect for your audience to trust that they know what they signed up for, and that they therefore don't expect and don't want music. If you think your scariest moments won't scare me without freaky deaky sound effects, you either think you did a poor job or think I am so deficient in imagination and taste that I cannot be scared without it. Or both. STOP IT.

@hellsitegenetics
I love them
I didn't know I needed to know that the weed-smoking girlfriends post was genetically a wolf, but I did, and I do. Also puts great stuff on my dash.
it’s so fun to be scrolling unhinged posts and then boom. an organism!
so many moths‼ also, unexpected comedy with some of the matches
perfect blend of silly and informative, and makes for an excellent punchline at the end of a long post. puts creatures on my dash. literally what more could you ask for
It's a really unique blog concept and a lot of times the results are pretty funny. It's great when the sequence matches the post content too!
Creatures 👍
Finds beautiful creatures out of the mess of the hellsite
Offers finality AND gives us a creechur.
I love them. English speakers talk like moths
If this blog wins, they could run the text of the winning announcement, and determine the post's genus and species!
They're also very good about tagging the type of creature depicted in the results, so as long as you mute tags of creatures you don't want to see, it's a very fun time seeing iconic legacy posts (and new submissions) being reduced down to a string of letters and assigned a random species of fish or moth or something!
uhh it’s cool
BLAST
There are so many weird bugs in the world
Yippee!!
If, as Haldane said, God has an inordinate fondness for beetles, then surely this blog proves that Tumblr has an inordinate fondness for moths.
Top tier blog as a geneticist, I love seeing obscure organisms and MOTH
Admin got rate limited after trying to blast the bee movie
the knowledge of biology to pull this off (i have taken one biology class in my life) and also the work to find all the strings honestly deserves quite a bit of praise
This gimmick blog has it all: science, pictures of animals, interaction with the text of other peoples' posts, interesting information, and a unique and fun premise. As a biologist, I'm rooting for hellsitegenetics to reach the end and take the tournament, because it is truly a standout among gimmick blogs.
If they win, perhaps this blog too shall become a cool organism :3
@making-you-in-spore
Incredible works of art from a limited medium, the blog favors quality over quantity and I am always in awe when a dancing creacher in Spore [2008] crosses my dash.
His spores often take him multiple hours to create, and he will go through astounding amounts of effort to commit to the bit. He made his cull poll in spore and then blew it up. Hes also super responsive and active and seems really eager to share his creation techniques and spread the joy of making things in spore [2008]. His blog almost singlehandedly sparked a significant resurgence in interest and playerbase of a 16 year old game that most people see as nothing but a meme. Hes just a guy who likes spore [2008]
i say vote for making you in spore because seeing them blow up their opponents after they win is hilarious
