I find it so interesting how Hazels concept art fluctuates between completely different from what we got and resemblance of the final desing. I read something about them focusing on making the characters desings fun, I think that translates very well on those.

Also theres was a chance of Hazel using glasses?! Just think about it!

Ok the latest episode of dungeon meshi is gory as fuck.

Major episode 11 SPOILERS

Given that the episode is dragon part one, I assumed they would fight the dragon, mostly fail, cliffhanger, and the next episode would be defeating it.

I did NOT expect them to kill it, root around its insides, and find Falins fucking bones!!

The foot comes down on Senshi and he immediately vomits blood? Chilchuk knocked out by bricks to the head, Laios loses his leg?! (Nitpick but. If the leg was disconnected what was keeping him from falling out the dragons mouth? Anime rule of cool physics?)

And then. Chilchuk and Senshi is heaps of pain and Laios' leg is just itchy? Its a good joke, but I think there's more. Those heals were too easy after that amount of unprecedented violent gore.

Laios had a btw-line about of the dragon and is mating and then dismissed the thought with no given reason. So I think next episode theres gonna be a second Red dragon. ( Its possible part 2 will be next season, but following more common episode title namings, red dragon 1 and 2 will be the season finale. )

And theres the unanswered question of the whole season, why is the dragon more active, why is the ecosystem of the dungeon off-balance. I think next episode will be our big clue.

Re Falin, its no coinicidence we were introduced to the racist rich guy who assures us that souls dont leave bodies in the dungeon. That was confusing up till the last episode because the characters sure act like death is possible, and we've seen dead people and heard about body-retrieval. Then Namari goes to revivals to ask about Falin and there are bodies stored behind the desk guy. Which puts the pieces together, bodies that can be retrieved are retrieved, and the people can be revived. If someone cares to, and presumably pays for it. Someones gotta pay for retrievals.

Its also no accident that our warm-fuzzy sibling scene before finding Falins skull is about a ghost who is trapped with his body, and Falins intuition/ability with ghost magic. Can she be revived, will she stick around as a ghost, remains to be seen. (Remains.)

As someone who hasnt yet read the manga, Im also curious about long term story. Ive gotten the impression that theres significant story to go, possibly probably they reach the end of the dungeon? But Ive not seen Falin present in any of the art, and for the story to continue they need motivation to keep going.

So Im guessing that Falin ends up as a ghost, or unreviveable, and they have to get to the bottom to find the mad mage, work out what stops people from crossing over post-death (does that include monsters, orcs, humanoid mermaids or fish-oid[???]mermen), and only then can they bring Falin back to life.

That or they revive her and theres some other plot hook, but my guess is what I just described.

(Another silly nitpick, the fire is blocked by the adamantium but the heat isnt a problem until after the fire is done? "WE HAVE TO MAKE SURE TO EXHAUST ALL ITS FUEL" THAT WOULDVE LEFT FALIN BEYOND ALL HOPE!!!!!!)

And its funny re Senshi's knife, ooh its mithril it can cut through anything, well of course! he's used it to cut every single monster theyve eaten! And we never wondered how! Foreshadowing by cookware, its ridiculous and I love it.

Last point is it just me or are...is it Kaka and Kiki? Theyre discount Vex and Vax, right?

hoyoverse racism and colorism isnt new at all. you got carole and her mother from honkai impact 3rd, one being ashamed of her skintone and the other being a racist stereotype for what i read. arlan from star rail, with his bad kit (also read on twitter his kit actually have racist references about the slavery.)

all the sumeru controversy both orientalism and colorism. correct me if im wrong but im very sure in the last sumeru area quest that lamp was racist with jeht. kandake being whitewashed in every aspect and just being a 4*

Okay back in 2018-2019(?) i had a pretty big hetalia phase, i watched hetafacts videos n every episode that was on YouTube, i listened to the music on repeat. It was a major hyperfixation before i knew that i was autistic.

For the longest time after i stopped, engaging with hetalia for some reason i would. Cringe really hard whenever i saw anything hetalia related. Like. On ao3 when you go to search things it tells you how to search things and one i got (and keep getting) is like "hetalia tag:f/f" or something idk how proper ao3 searches work. Id like screenshot it and go to my friends n say "it haunts me" or some shit.

But like recently ive been. Embracing that part of my past? I guess? Like. Almost like coming to terms with it? Idk i started having a less bad reaction n like, realized it probably one of the more normal fandoms i was in. I was, cringe, as all kids are, but i was. Happy.

And then like. At a sleepover a few weeks ago, one thing leads to another and im telling my friend abt the songs and how ich leibe is. Just a recipe, and how i used to listen to almost all of the songs. I show them the clip of France trying to get England to sign a marriage contract, America ordering fucking condoms from Russia.

It has been at least 2 weeks since, and i can feel the hyperfixation coming back, half the music ive been listening too again is hetalia character songs (theyre so fucking good???) and ive been getting. Urges to watch the show and. I dont know how to feel or what to do?? Like. I'm afraid almost to get back into hetalia? Like i watched black butler a while ago, and i realized how. Theres some weird fucking tension between ceil n sebastian n i think im afraid im going to have that same reaction to hetalia?

Cause like there is shit i just completely forgot about. Like. The Bad Touch Trio. And im scared man.

I mean I’m right there with you man. The sole reason I am still in the Hetalia fandom is because hetalia got me through some real dark chapters and events in my life. I discovered Hetalia years ago in Highschool while with a very abusive ex who had to know everything I was doing at any given time. He wouldn’t let me go anywhere without him there. I tried to break up with him but he actually wouldn’t let me. He would threaten to off himself if I did so I felt bad because his mom was an alcoholic and his houses burned down. I stopped really going anywhere at all because if I did he would come with me and he ruined my relationships with most of my friends just by being ‘the worst’. I stopped cheerleading, I got depression really bad, I started to do terrible in all my classes but I discovered Hetalia while on deviant art and was instantly intrigued. It was like “idk what this is but I will now make it my personality”

Years later while with my most recent abusive Ex that I just broke up with last November I got back into Hetalia when our relationship started to get really bad and hard to cope wit on my own. I needed an escape and something to help me avoid him and no care so much about his insults something that I could think about instead of being sad all the time. Hetalia is something that just brings me joy. Instead of venting to people, getting therapy or increasing my meds Hetalia was just always there to go back to and escape. No idea what it is about it. Won’t go into details about the relationship, it’s irrelevant right now but I’m sure you can guess.

To answer your question, no Hetalia isn’t ‘good’ it makes zero sense and is confusing as hell. But for me it’s fun to use as a spring board for basically any kind of AU I could think up. The characters can fit into any type of situation you want to shove them in.

I would say give it a rewatch, as much as you want anyway. What is the worst that could happen? You continue an interest that brought you joy? Worst case. You are a bit cringe? Who cares if you are cringe if you are happy? Also not encouraging you to live a double life but if you are embarrassed to like Hetalia you don’t actually have to tell anyone how obsessed with it you are. No one but my ex knows how much I like Hetalia and he really has no idea just how deep I am in this shit. But if people knowing about one of your interests humiliates you then just don’t share it. At the end of the day it’s your comfort and it makes you happy it’s no one’s business.

There are a lot of old fandom tropes that have disappears the BTT being one of them. They put them as a group still but I guess they call it ‘bad friends ti’ now. There are still some things that make me side eye. But that’s every fandom I feel. You can choose who you wish to associate with and who you want to block or avoid. It’s your blog you don’t own an explanation to anyone.

Personally I don’t interact much with the people of the fandom itself I got a few people it talk to every now and again but really i just do my own thing. I write my own fics for myself. I got my little tumblr, discord and TikTok, I post about my little AUs and dumb thoughts and continue on. If people want to follow me that’s great, welcome. If they don’t that’s cool to!

so my bf and i are planning on making a comic based around our "sonas" (idk what else to call them), but how these came to be was us literally drawing ourselves how we see ourselves essentially. like for me, im demonkin, so i just drew how i remember myself and then projected all my memories to this "character" and i think my bf did something really similar to that when making his, so basically we are these characters and they are us

after a while we added aspects to them that dont reflect memories (such as the two of them dating) but more so reflect us CURRENTLY, as well as some random things that just make sense and these "sonas" became very important to us and huge parts of ourselves (naturally, since we are them)

now wed love to do this and possibly post the series on tumblr and/or another site as a nice project between the two of us but thats when my bf realized: what if people kin them? and it kinda made us uncomfortable thinking about it since its based off our own otherkin experiences and that theyre literally us

so basically what id like to know is if itd be wrong to ask people to not make fan works (if it gets popular) and tag them as kin and stuff? weve seen people mark stuff with that and so thats why i planned on doing that, but do u think people would understand our discomfort? ik people cant help kins, but id feel a lot more comfortable if people didnt make it comfortable they're whole public identity based around one of us or used our work as face claims and stuff. am i being irrational or is this understandable?? i’d like to run the numbers to see if the percentage of original anime has gone down or if the original works are just being flooded out by the sea of overworked nothings that are being constantly rushed out the door

yes obviously not all original works are good (or finish well rip wep) and there are good adaptations but when people think anime once they're past shounen jump series 1-500 the biggest names are original works and sure you might end up with an fma or ouran but your bebops your evas your utenas are originals. or media mixes which are weird collabs we could get into but let’s not today 

i won’t disagree that there’s too many anime nowadays targeting lolicons (yeah yeah any anime for them is too much but we’re talking about comparing eras not judging content here) but I /think/ 80s and 90s relegated that type of stuff to OVAs generally. Don’t have the data to back that up but between ovas nowadays being only just for porn and the lemony history of ovas since the 80s.... there were just More ovas back when as well

yes numbers are iffy with second seasons listed as different series like sailor moon r s supers stars and mha 2 3 4 5 6 ect so for accurate numbers a human touch would be needed there is semi-finite air time to work with- obviously some companies could make new tv and satellite stations just to house their garbage but i think there is a cap somewhere in sight if anyone did crunch the numbers more accurately, total episode count is necessary. one 80s robot show of 60-80 epis is equal to 4-6 modern single cour isekais

Anywho! This chapter is titled "Love" and you should not be fooled by that. It has some very heavy trigger warnings so please take a look at the chapter notes. Remember that Vergil is having an onslaught of memories just piling into his head, so he's very uncomfortable for the majority of this chapter.

Here's a spoiler-free snippet:

Theres more!" A little Vergil, his lips stained blue with raspberry ice pop, would bleat as his partner-in-crime pushed the book away from him. “Vergil, this book is too sad for me.” Dante would sigh, leaning back against the clay roof and kicking his feet in frustration. “The main character threw away his family because he was too stupid to realize he wasn’t the only one hurt by a family tragedy. He was selfish and let that hurt become his whole personality until he became so power hungry and scared that he ruined the saving grace that offered itself up on a silver platter and got himself killed in the process.” And a little Vergil would frown at him and say, “What do you mean? The main character’s love interest was a girl. Someone he left not to abandon her, but to protect her from the danger that followed him. So he could grow strong and protect the both of them, so nothing in the world could ever hurt either of them ever again. I think that’s a noble cause, don’t you?” And The Raven would simply nod, his red ice-pop melting in the heat of the summer sun and sucking idly at the flavor between his fingers. “That’s what I said.” He would reply lazily. He would squint up at him, his dark pony-tailed hair spread around him like a smoke-stain. He would raise his hand above his head to block the sun, grimacing anyway to reply in a bored tone.  “And of course I think its noble, lucertolino, I think that was our problem.” And little Vergil would gape at the image of the boy who was once his brother and realize he never knew his twin at this age. And he would stare and stare and stare at his blue raspberry ice pop, willing that to make sense until the blue splashed over the page and ruined the rest of the story. He wouldn’t cry over it though, even if it was a really good book. He’d get mad and growl somewhere a little deeper than his chest and throw the book over the edge of the roof, even if it was a really good book. "Why’d you do that, idiota? You loved that book."  The Raven would sit up from his sunbathing spot and frown into the bright distance. "No I didn't. I hated it." Vergil would spit and lie, that stony expression would come over his face even as his weakest instrument broke in two. "We should write a new one. Just us. Just me and you, nobody else." Vergil would turn, the baby-blue of his coat flashing golden light onto his heart’s face. She would laugh at his anger, her brunette bun bouncing with the energy of it and her bright red dress bunched up between clay-stained hands as they walked. She’d stop him right underneath the statue of his father, her hands pressing into his chest and tongue between her teeth—seeing too much of him. "Art like that is made once and a lifetime, Angelo. A shame you did not cherish it while you had it." “I hate you.” Adult Vergil mumbled in reply. Between blinks, Eleonora came and went. And between inhales, his brother had returned. Dante laid underneath Vergil, his chest against his back, gripping tightly to his brother’s torso as if somehow, he would disappear on exhalation.

I'm losing it rn there are so many ideas I have for this video, its going to be pretty much split in two (each a diffrent font so if you just want my ideas and no recap go to the italic)

starts with a white screen with GEN 1 in the top left corner, then it changes to the showfall logo and a little tune like the last video posted.

Surprise! we get to see the man with the box over his face's face! he says "hello! and welcome to showfall media. for years we have provided endless entertainment for families all around this world."

the video does a TV style glitch but its in red, and over the static are the words "hello?"

the glitch stops and cuts back to box man, "we are more excited then ever to bring our influence to a new frontier, with our new live experience, we have spent months developing, researching, and connecting with this new frontier and we are thrilled with the results."

another static glitch, this time with the message "where is this signal going?"

back to the dude, "with out state of the art, brand new technology, we're giving you! The viewer at home, control of aspects of our show."

mid sentence his head starts to freak out, his face is blurry and it moves unnaturally.

Here are my thoughts on how all of this either connects to past videos or posts and what I think this means for "Our Hero" to reuse this phrase from box man. I strongly believe that Show fall is in control of everything happening in the story, they found "them" and are looking for GL!Ranboo right now. I think that the people that were taken are now apart of the cast, or at least for the most part this is the situation. perhaps the two men in the photos above escaped from Showfall with Ran after learning about a horrible thing that Showfall did. probably relevant to this big project being announced. The two of them look kind of like sneeg and charlie to so I think that they might be involved in genloss as well , but im not 1,000 percent sure, but it would be on brand for them. final thoughts would have to be about the word choice of box man, the fact that he kept saying "this frontier" to me implying that our universe/world/timeline/any other way for showfall to not be apart of this place we are in is some where new to them. However that could be written off as frontier of this interactive video formate. i kinda like my first thoughts over this more.

Moriarty the Patriot.

Recommended for anyone who wants to eat the rich with very pretty boys. Be gay, do crimes.

Content warnings: In the first few episodes there is violence against children. It is mostly off screen but worth mentioning. The show is not brutal, but there is violence throughout that isn't bloodless/fantasy.

What it is: Fall 2020 crime drama following professor Moriarty of Sherlock Holmes fame as he takes on the british aristocracy. You will see there are two seasons, but it's one continuous piece with the big finale being at the end of the second season and a seamless transition from one to the next. In the way of a lot of anime it mostly stops shy of being explicitly gay, but that's clearly how its meant to be read.

What is it trying to do? Eating the rich is the spirit of the show. The British Aristocracy are our main villains and we're not interested in a nuanced take on the matter. Moriarty is our antihero protagonist and stays true to form as a criminal mastermind with no compunctions about using violence. Our other interest is a cast of mostly pretty male characters. Its mostly for eye candy rather than romance, though we do have a Moriarty x Holmes fated canon ship growing throughout. Mystery solving takes a back seat. The mood here is more raucous, a bit like the Robert Downey Sherlock with a bit more camp.

How ambitious is it? Not very, we're mostly here for a good time. The show is very visually dependent so the art needs to be above average to work. Since we're borrowing Doyle's characters, there's some effort at making them seem smart and the crimes be mysterious, but its brazenly perfunctory. Theree is a challenge in managing the tone and keeping things entertaining. We will be killing people so the tone is going to be a bit dark. At the same time, we want some of the killing to be fun and satisfying. If its too dark, we're going to feel miserable. If its not dark enough, we're not going to be on for the ride.

How well does it succeed? I had a blast. The show sets the hurdles low so it can sashay over them. I've not historically been a bishonen connoiseur but the characters are ridiculously pretty. Moriarty looks like the blonde reincarnation of Sebastian from Black Butler. Sherlock makes people want to do crimes just so they can be caught. I also enjoyed a lot of what was done with the background art and remember pausing a few times to look at details.

The villains are comically evil and them being brought down is satisfying every time. Hating on aristocrats is a perfect mood for the 2020's so its good catharsis. The violence is made palatable by a pervasive over the top edgy asthetic and by how blunt the show is about what its doing; if the show tried to be smarter or more reserved, the illusion would shatter.

The pacing is good. We start with a few serial-style mini arcs, but quickly start working our way into a larger continuous story with ever-increasing stakes. Things also get progressively more fantastic. The early episodes feel more grounded in reality and in Doyle's literary world, but by the end anything could happen and you're ready to gleefully accept it.

Its just a romp. It manages to be dumb fun without making you feel dumb for having fun watching it.

Who are we as a band?

Releasing music is one thing but getting people to listen to the music is very difficult. The most important part to getting your music out there is being active on socials. The best app for musicians is TikTok which we've learnt, through regular posting we've managed to curate an audience/fanbase. Our problem is that 80 percent of the followers are American and only 10 percent are English.

Being English, whether we realise it it not is a innate part of us. I think being English and part of this culture holds so much power, especially with our music. The music is a combination of Shoegaze, NuMetal & Alt rock partnered with gritty female vocals. Growing up in the south of England, I think our music draws from the land in some weird way. I would describe our music as weird, creepy, gritty and emotionally raw. Using this knowledge, we want to draw from the heritage of England, some medieval aesthetics, even ghostly, to partner with our sound. The aim is to be authentically us.

Fontaines DC - Skinty Fia

Fontaines D.C. are an Irish post-punk band formed in Dublin in 2014. Fontaines D.C. talk about their Irish identity and their evolving sound “It’s always been natural to us” “When you’re not in that place, you have to cling on to the memory of it a bit more; the heart and soul of it.”

Their newest album Skinty Fia has loads of that Irish spirit. It’s immediately evident in the title (an old Gaelic expression that translates to ‘the damnation of the deer’) and trickles down to lyrics that express a complex relationship with their homeland – a sense of longing for it and the conflicted guilt for leaving it.

On their song ‘Bloomsday’, a line like ‘There’s always fucking rain and it’s always dark’ pangs with homesickness, while the relatively summery ‘Roman Holiday’ attempts to embrace London despite the feeling of displacement: ‘I don’t wanna see the Queen/I already sing her song’.

But whatever you do, please, please do not include Radiohead in the list of "Britpop" bands.

The only thing Radiohead have in common with the abovementioned bands is that, yes, they are from England. What makes them different from their fellow UK musician brothers and sisters is that Radiohead do not limit themselves to playing recycled '60s music, and they do not engage in public spats with other bands nor do they spend their free time bragging about how "fookin' great" they are. They don't have to talk the talk. Radiohead's songs and live performances speak loud enough for themselves.

SO atm theres only 2-4 UCs that i think im actually going to try for. probably just the first 2 at first just to figure out how the new UC item works and stocks and stuff. BIGGEST worry is that i dont think the mutant xwee actually counts as UC which is one i dreamed of having

i think thats whats going to determine how much i put into getting the UC items because i know FOR SURE if the UC item allows for ANY PET/COLOR to become the old art then i might get alot, i also know FOR SURE i dont want to start buying NC just for UCs cause im never going to be as active as the old days, the pet slots i buy just comes from the free NC that gets handed out onsite here and there so thats all im gonna use it for, maybe once i hit the max pet slots i'll use whatever NC left for UCs in the future or just faerie cookies, dont know yet

i know back in the early days i loved some pets MORE because of the old art (xwees, ixis, peophins, and unis especially) i dont dislike the new converted versions of those pets but i cant find myself making many characters/designs in my head for the converted versions, like old ixis were just FULL of character in all of their poses even in basic colors and now even just finding good customs is hard for me let alone making characters for them (i think is cuase of their big heads rip) also uni outfits are so TRAGIC i just cant do it

i personally have no gripe about the redraws (YET?) like i /can/ see the idea of a "downgrade" when looking at parts of the redraw (faerie wings KINDA) but thats it for me, i would have to see more to actually /feel/ anything about them. i do love the oldstyle thin lines but i the big gag here is i never cared about UCs when playing as a kid. i was definitely there BEFORE the 1st conversion but i think i stopped for a while when the conversion ACTUALLY happened, but me and squiddy loved customization so we kinda lost our minds with it at first anyway

i adore the oldstyle art for sure and there were so many pets i wanted BECAUSE i wanted the OLDSTYLE version of them (big example is the faerie ixi, i dreamed of having one cause she was so pretty but the conversion just made me not care) (also peophins in general, i had an old oc i pounded just because i just couldnt enjoy any customs or crosspaints i was going for, rip nini i miss you)

SO OVERALL: im really only interested in the old art, the value i guess is where i dont feel anything because my pets are ocs so theyre designs onsite can be whatever and i'll be fine

if these NCUC items allow for ANY PET COMBO to get oldstyle art then i could see myself getting a handful just to feel like i have one, dont really care about whatever identifier theyre going to attach to say "this is a NEW UC not an OLD UC" that doesnt mean anything to me i just want my pngs <3

if these NCUC items DONT work universally with the oldstyle art and it only works with the pets that are catalogued/officially coded as UC (grey pets, the darigan pets, some faeries, etc) then i may only get 1-2 and leave it at that. not really disappointed/upset or anything i just dont care about UCs that much to get multiple, i'll leave it to those users who care about them and hope its fun for them!

THIS IS SUCH A GOOD EPISODE !!! Also by focusing on the unsub more than the investigation, they really made us feel like an outsider to the team

Like when we get to the station, they have a whole profile ready and we’re just thrown in there as confused as Johnny is, which is normally the opposite of what happens

The only other ep that comes to mind that we see none of the investigation play out in real time is the first one with Frank, cause Gideon is telling us what happened
