You sat beside Jisung who was extra talkative today. He kept showing you things he's been into lately, ranting passionately to him. Jisung always mentioned that talking to you about these things made him happy and you knew there was probably no one else willing to listen to his rants so you gave in and offered him your full attention for most of the night, up until food was served and he got silent.

"Hide and Seek", Haechan says with a smile.

Everyone turns to eachother in confusion. Why such a childish game? You were all full grown adults so why bother with these things?

Thus, he ends up covering his eyes and counting 'till 20, while everyone else rushed to find a spot to hide. Secretly, everybody tried to make it so that Haechan doesn't succeed in finding anyone, just to see his pout as he swears for the nth time that he'll never play games with "you traitors". But to everybody's surprise, finding a spot to hide was harder than imagined.

At this point, everyone had already hidden. All the good areas you thought of were occupied and Haechan was already reaching the last 10 numbers. Suddenly, as if sent by the heavens, you see a closet in what seemed to be Chenle's room. You dash to it, opening it slowly while you take a second to pray that nobody was inside already. Your prayers were left to scatter as you see Jisung, standing cramped and uncomfortable.

There was just no way you could be this unlucky. Just as you were about to close the door to the closet, thinking about just giving up and turning yourself in - maybe help haechan find everyone else - Jisung grabs your wrist.

"Come in, there's still some space left." he whispers.

This sounded like a bad idea. I mean, you? Cramped up in a tight closet with Jisung? Chenle's clothes were stacked on the right side of the closet, while the other side was left empty for any jackets to hang. Despite there being no coats hanging, your back was still pressed against Jisung's chest, cramped up in the tiny space that somehow seemed to be much larger.

For a long while you just hear Haechan's frustrated groans and complaints, "Just where did you guys hide!! Come on!!!" mixed with his confident cheers "Found you! See? I told you I'm good at this! Now help me find the rest...". Of course, all of this on top of Jisung's breathing that kept getting heavier and more uneven. Taerae answered the phone with a smile, the camera close to his face.

You laughed as you set your phone on your desk, "Well hello to you too, why so close?"

"No reason, I just want to see you closely."

"Well, I can see you so closely I can count your pores," You scoffed as you went into your closet to find pajamas for the night.

"Is it weird I'm holding it so close?"

"A little, but it's no big deal. If you don't wanna show yourself then why'd you wanna video call?"

Taerae didn't answer.

"Are you still thinking about what those guys said?"

He shuffled in bed, "Mmhm."

"Then why don't you just tell me?"

Taerae's eyes peered curiously at the camera as he waited for you to come out of your closet. You settled on wearing a long-sleeved T-shirt and shorts. You returned to find Taerae's eyes filled with impatience.

There's something weirdly wholesome about seeing IDV characters interact with each other in-game. And by that, I'm mostly referring to the friendly or neutral interactions that are more direct. Like Demi sharing a drink with you. Kevin carrying you on his shoulder. Hanging onto a rocket with Joker. Even when survivors are healing each other, or when a hunter helps a fallen teammate in Tarot mode. We also have all the emotes you can buy with intimacy points.

I don't know, there's just something about seeing them acknowledge each others' existence that is so neat.

My Favorite BL of 2024:

Is it 4 days after the new year? Yes. Am I making this a tad bit late. Probably. Do I care? Nope. Doing this for me.

These are my top 10 shows that aired and finished in 2024. I did have to whittle it down from around 20 and that was hard. But this is the list. But first.

Honorable mentions:

Love in the Big City - watched on Viki.

The reason this is not in the list of top 10 BL is because I categorize this as a queer story instead of a BL. It's missing the typical BL tropes and style, but it was damn good. After I watched it, it sat with me for awhile. It's still sitting with me. It was tough to watch at times, but it was worth it for me and I enjoyed it a lot.

I Hear the Sunspot - watched on Gagaoolala.

The same reason this did not make it into the favorites. This show is not a BL to me. Yes, it features a queer love, but that is not the focus nor is it the point of the show. This is a show about communication and acceptance and growth. The romance is secondary to all of that. The romance is used as a way to show the communication and acceptance and growth for multiple different characters.

The On1y One - watched on Viki.

This show. This SHOW. So good. I am scared we will never get a second season. The reason that this show is not on the list is because we didn't quite get to the romance yet. I truly hope we get more but I don't know if my heart can take it. Oh it was such a good show though. This show was one of my liveblogs (I promise I'll finish posting them at some point).

Now, on to the list in descending order of my favorites:

10. Century of Love - watched on Gagaoolala.

Listen. This show had some issues BUT listen. I am a sucker for a reincarnated lovers story. And I have been waiting my entire life for a show to do reincarnated lovers but they came back as a different gender. I loved the twist this show pulled by making it not certain if Vee was actually the reincarnation of Wat. I love when things get left up to the interpretation of the audience. I love that it also didn't matter because what mattered is that San chose Vee. He didn't need soulmates, he needed choice and that is what the show gave him.

9. Wandee Goodday - watched on YouTube.

I can't really explain why I loved this show so much except that I really loved both Yak and Wandee. Yak was such a green flag throughout the show and Wandee was actually very good at communicating his boundaries. It was refreshing to see. I wish it had handled certain things better, but overall this show was something I looked forward to a whole lot every week.

8. At 25:00 in Akasaka - watched on Gagaoolala.

This show felt weirdly calming to me. The way that all of the characters moved throughout the world was so calming. Shirasaki and Hayama are perfectly balanced. I love how they love each other. It took them awhile to get there, but once they did, it was so wholesome and delightful.

7. Deep Night - watched on IQIYI.

POLY. This show gave us canon poly. Did we get enough of them? No. Alas they were the sides. But it made me so incredibly happy. The leads were great too. Wela and Khem had wonderful communication the entire way through the show which was super unexpected in a show like this. This show also did not hold back on the heat. But the main reason I love this show so much (other than the poly) is just how supportive everyone ends up being of everyone. It was wonderful to see. This show was one of my liveblogs.

6. Jack & Joker: U Steal My Heart - watched on IQIYI

Yes, yes I know. I was pretty vocal in my critiques of this show (well vocal for me). But despite my issues with it, I really loved this show a whole lot. I love anything involving a heist and they really went and made it gay. God bless. Joke has become one of my all time favorite characters. I liked that this show tried something new. It gave us something new and something interesting. It was intriguing and it was fun. It was an absolute joy to watch and post about and it was the show that I probably felt the most in community with other people watching. I love YinWar for giving us this show and putting so much of their hearts into it. It was obvious how much everyone involved cared.

5. We Are - watched on IQIYI

It should surprise no one that this show is on my list. First of all, TanFang. My absolute favorites. But this show was so slow and so calm. There was such little conflict it basically was nonexistent. It was exactly what I needed. The summer months are always hard for me mentally and this show was a nice break for my brain. I loved all of the couples. Some of the couples definitely had pacing issues but I still love them. It was a delightful show and sometimes I just want a show that I can trust will greet me like a friend each week.

4. My Stand-In - watched on IQIYI

I love my toxic boys. Ming you absolute disaster. This show was a RIDE. I couldn't get enough. Joe was such a good person and the whole story is bonkers and Ming was a walking talking red flag and still I was rooting for him. I also loved how much effort the creators put into this show. I don't think I've ever seen so much analysis done of character's backs in my life. It was GREAT. I want a million more shows just like this. We all deserve it.

3. Monster Next Door - watched on Gagaoolala

Just like We Are, this show greeted me like a friend each week. I could count on this show to feel like a warm hug. God and Diew are quite literally the cutest of all time. God was the biggest green flag we have had in awhile, if ever. I mean, no one truly did it like him. That man literally went out of his way to make sure Diew wouldn't even see his face until Diew was ready for it. The only sin this show ever committed was not getting Khun Shy a proper tank. I know that it wouldn't have fit with the aesthetic or whatever, but I was stressed. This is a show that I imagine I will be rewatching at least once a year if not more.

2. Unknown - watched grey first then on Viki

It was soooo hard not to put this as number 1. This show was everything to me when it was airing. I actually found a translation of the book to read online after the show finished airing because I did not want to be done. The way Yuan loved Qian was absolutely wild but my god I loved it. Watching Qian learn to reciprocate Yuan's feelings but also to let himself finally be taken care of was fantastic. I loved their whole family dynamic. I loved the friends. I loved how hard each character worked, not just at life but they all worked hard at love. All types of love. Unknown really told us that love is not always easy and sometimes it is the hardest thing to do, but it is worth the effort. And it also gave me the scene of Qian chasing down San Pang while Yuan sat back and laughed. Iconic.

Love for Love's Sake - watched on IQIYI

This is the only show that could take the #1 spot for me. It was the show this year. It aired last January and I am still thinking about it and how much I love it. Myungha is undoubtedly one of my favorite characters. Something about him just spoke to me, the way I'm sure his character spoke to a lot of people. Everything about this show from beginning to end was executed flawlessly (in my opinion) and I cannot stop thinking about how it said that even the worst most unlovable parts of yourself are worth loving and actually they aren't the worst and the aren't unlovable. It might be hard to love those parts of yourself, but it's so easy to love them in someone else. And they will love them in you too. This is a show that I would absolutely love a physical copy of so I can force everyone I know to watch it.

Headcanon A: realistic

Sephiroth wasn’t joking when he said he asked everyone he met about the photo of his mother. The problem was that the people he asked while growing up were always Shinra employees and execs. He famously asked the President himself about the photo and that’s when the man and the entire board laughed their heads off and dismissed the question. The answer would never be revealed. Lucrecia was erased. Gone. She was a nobody to Shinra after serving her purpose, and her son didn’t know how foolish and ignorant he looked when asking about “Jenova.”

Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious

One time Genesis and Angeal tried to take a SOLDIER vacation to Costa Del Sol and they secured a space where civilians weren’t allowed so that they could take Sephiroth with them. He had never done such a thing.

When they got there, Gen and Angeal unwound like normal people and just tried to relax on the beach, but they were interrupted by the extremely jarring sight of Sephiroth in full armor half-running up the shore in delighted childlike wonder as he started gathering seashells and extremely poisonous urchins and pufferfish. He was identifying all the specimens like a raving nerd and trying to suppress obvious joy over seeing them all in person for the first time.

Genesis and Angeal found it endearing and wholesome, but also fucking terrifying because Sephiroth’s grins and excited cackles sounded WEIRDLY LIKE A CERTAIN SCIEN—[GUNSHOTS]

Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends

Sephiroth rarely sleeps laying down and just stands or sits for short periods of time to catch up on lost hours, but when he does lay down to rest in an actual bed, he has an odd habit of rocking himself back and forth until he drifts off. He has no idea why he does it, but something feels about it feels so…safe and right.

Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.

His sane self would have forgiven Lucrecia for everything over time if they reunited, even in spite of the rough patches idc I AM CLINGING TO HOPECORE 😭

You get asked a lot of dark stuff, and we're all here for it, but what's your favourite wholesome ship/headcanon? Just a change of pace!

Funny enough, Anon, we do have one wholesome hc post! But it’s been a while since I wrote it, and there isn’t much there, so I’ll give one more for some of the ships. Not every single one though, so if you wanted something specific, please let me know.

It’s surprisingly difficult for me to come up with something purely wholesome without any kind of cursed undertone, but I’ll do my best...

1. Out of every possible ship option for Azul (well, there isn’t much for him but), I think Idia is the best for him in terms of potential personal growth. It wouldn’t be easy, but Idia is surprisingly emotionally mature, and I genuinely think he could handle Azul’s issues. Even though both of them are very defensive and tend to see the worst in people and argue with them, they are weirdly comfortable around each other, and it seems like Azul trusts Idia enough not to expect any backstabbing from him. I think they could make each other feel genuinely loved.

2. Lilia and Idia sometimes talk through the night. Of course, they love playing together, but sometimes they just start chatting, and then chat away until it’s 6 AM. Both of them try to keep their distance on the internet, but whenever Idia’s cool internet friend complains about his irl stuff (without details, of course) to him, he feels very happy. Like Muscle Crimson could rely on him, and he could rely on him too. It’s very weird and unusual for Idia to have this kind of connection with anyone who isn’t Ortho.

3. Kalim tried to make breakfast for Jamil one time. It didn’t turn out super well, and Jamil complained that all Kalim did was adding more work for him (even though he’s already overslept – how did that even happen?!), but... it wasn’t absolutely horrible either. For a second Jamil even thought that he could taste just how much Kalim did his best to make something good enough for him to eat. But he shooed that thought away immediately.

4. When Silver and Sebek were younger, there was a period of time during which Silver’s hair got too long. Lilia was away for a while, and Silver couldn’t cut it himself, he didn’t have anything to tie them up with either. After a short while it became obvious that Silver’s hair made it difficult for him to have a proper sparring with Sebek, so Sebek yelled at him, sat him down, and braided his hair for him – he saw his sister and his mother do it, and it wasn’t difficult to remember how it works. Sebek got mad at Silver because Silver thanked him and sounded so earnest and nice, he even said that now that he has Sebek to braid his hair, it shouldn’t be an issue. Lilia came back the next day and cut Silver’s hair short again though...

5. In a very weird way Vil is anxious about meeting Rook’s family. He doesn’t worry about Rook meeting his dad – Rook already knows anything there is to know about Eric Venue, and Vil knows that his dad will at least find Rook amusing. Plus, he talks to him about Rook a lot. But Rook’s family? Vil still doesn’t know a lot about them, and Rook is always super secretive: he just laughs and say that they’ll love Vil when they meet one day, which doesn’t sound reassuring, if anything, it sounds ominous. This man drives Vil nuts sometimes.

6. Ortho loves giving Vil flowers. Even if it’s just one flower, or even if it’s not even flowers but just some weed or berries that are useful for potionology, he’ll present it in a way as if he’s giving Vil flowers. It’s honestly Vil’s fault because he always acts charmed by this, but can you blame him? Ortho is such a little gentleman.

7. This is going to sound weird, but Ortho loves apologising to Idia. They don’t really fight that much, but they do get stubborn sometimes, and sometimes start arguing. Since Ortho is the younger brother and a cutie, he is used to Idia kind of giving up and allowing him to do things his way. But every now and then, when Ortho feels like he overdid it, he hugs Idia and says that he is sorry. And Idia is usually so quick to drown in guilt for making Ortho upset or disappointed that hearing “sorry” from him and getting a hug gets him very emotional.

8. Ace does nice things to Deuce sometimes, but he doesn’t want Deuce to see it. He doesn’t let their roommates enter their room when he knows Deuce is about to call his mom, he always runs first to the cafeteria to take a seat at one table that Deuce once said was the best one in there. He tries to make it look like he is just messing with others, or doing it for himself, but he... doesn’t really know why he does that, honestly. Maybe not to feel bad when he teases Deuce for getting another F.

9. One time Lilia got sick, and Malleus was very surprised to see him in his bed suffering from a fever. He teased him at first, saying that he must be getting old if a little cold got him this weak, but then ended up sitting by his side for two days. Lilia kept grumbling something about Malleus not having anything better to do, but having his company actually made him feel much better.

10. Fellow and Gidel always get each other birthday presents, even if they don’t have any money at the moment. Fellow just thinks that Gidel deserves to feel like he’s the king of the world every now and then, and he would love to treat him at least once a year, but unfortunately this isn’t always possible; a stolen dirty magazine would make Gidel just as happy though. Ironically, Fellow is always surprised when Gidel remembers about his birthday: Fellow himself forgets about it, or rather it makes him kind of depressed. But one time Gidel got (stole) a fat wallet filled with money and kept it hidden for weeks before gifting it to Fellow and having a little feast with him on Fellow’s birthday. What a nice day that was~

A) The plot of the first fic: LWJ is a controversial singer. He’s known for his explicit music videos, and is openly gay. I think the fic author was representing the mindset of early 2000’s. His manager is Jiāng Yanli, they both bonded over WWX, who’s presumed dead but is missing. It’s also LWJ fucks. He has sex with various people, one of them being his background dancer but he doesn’t date anyone because he’s in love with WWX. WWX is actually living in hiding, (from Meng Yao). He returns and LWJ and him get together. There’s a whole car chase scene as well when he goes back to get Yuan and the rest of the Wens with Jiang Cheng.

B) The second fic, I don’t remember much from it except a scene that’s been nagging me. It’s a WangXian getting back together fic. Basically WWX returns and while LWJ doesn’t give into him right away, they still end up getting back together. LWJ had a hard time with WWX leaving. The scene that I’m referring to is in which Lwj comes home, and wwx mentions to him he and LXC spoke. LWJ panics because he’s afraid wwx will leave him again and I recall the dialogue being something along the lines of

“No, he had no right” or “he doesn’t get to take you away from me again” he starts crying I think.

WWX calms him down by saying he’s never leaving him again no matter what, even if LXC wouldn’t approve he doesn’t care for others and the only one who matters is LWJ.

I believe the scene was Lan Zhan coming home and Wei Ying coming to the doorway mentioning how Xichen called and they spoke, Lan Zhan could’ve been hiding about wei ying coming back I think. This fic is also a long fic. For Fic Finder: I am looking for a canon-era fic where Wei Wuxian was some kind of god or divine being and the thing I remember is that he had to bond with a demon/beast-man to balance his divinity(?). Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan came to him as an example of one such duo: Song Lan was the demon half and he explained that the demons make a contract with the god to protect the god in life and then the demon gets to eat the god’s body after death. The thought of getting eaten scared WWX. I am pretty sure this fic took place during the Sunshot Campaign because WWX was fighting through some war and he was unbalanced because he hadn’t found his other half. I could also have this flip flopped and maybe LWJ was the divine one and WWX was the demon half? If anyone remembers this fic I would love to find it again! Thank you!

17. Hi! I'm trying to find a fic I read where in the present day Lan Huan & Lan Zhan are at a cultivation conference. They're walking back to their hotel when ancient fantasy China Wei Ying falls out of nothing and lands on the pavement right in front of them. It turns out, Wei Ying fell off the cliff at Nightless City but instead of dying, he somehow ended up 600 years into the present. I remember that the Lan brothers immediately help him - he's fascinated & freaked out by modern life at first (both the hotel elevator & modern plumbing in particular). Um, a lot of cultivation history has been lost over time & i think WY helps with that. I also remember it turns out that Lan Zhan is the reincarnation of original LZ. I think that several other characters were reincarnated also & Mo Xuanyu is another person who somehow time-traveled to the present. I know it ended up Wangxian. I think there's a sequel where they eventually adopt A-Yuan & a little girl who is Yanli reincarnated. Please help! I can't remember the fic name & all my keyword searching hasn't worked out.

19. Okay so there's a fic I read when I first got into MDZS about two years ago and the memory of it suddenly hit me like a truck and I /need/ to reread but I cannot, for the life of me, find it. I've gone through what feels like 100 pages of my history on a03 without luck so here I am. Okay, as far I can remember, It was still a WIP when I read it roughly two years ago, but that was two years ago so I could be wrong. Anyway, it was a time travel fic but /not/ because of canon events.

However, it was canon complacent. Basically, sometime after the end of the series, there was some really bad demonic (?) event that killed most of the world, including LWJ. WWX hadn't reached immortality but he had reached the next level of cultivation, and therefore now had a perfect memory. I know there was one scene where he realized he'd hit that breakthrough (and I think broke down?) because he was recreating the ancestral plates of the Lan and realized he knows every name even if he shouldn't.

Anyway, in this future, the remaining cultivators are able to link together to sort of super boost their cultivation? (Idk if that's the best description) and tie it to both Wei Wuxian and Wen Ning, who send their consciousnesses back in time to... I think it's when they were at the Gusu lectures. (I do not remember if this was novel or cql verse).

They gather the world (Minus Wen Ruohan and his people) to tell the story of the future but using titles people wouldn't yet have (like Yiling Patriarch. Ghost General. Headshaker. Lianfang-zun as examples) to tell the story without giving away identities (Though Wen Ning does introduce himself as the Ghost General at some point during that, giving away that identity). There's also truth talisman they wear while telling the story to prove its all true. Anyway I know this is long but I figured the more details I remembered, the better. Even if it is still WIP I just wanna reread what's there so badly.

Knows your favorite artists, and has a perfect playlist for you, no matter your mood. Sends you so much art he likes, paintings, poetry, all of it. He just loves to share his life with you. There will be no confession, more you calling him out why he sent you like 6 love poems in one night "Ah… I guess it was kinda obvious…"

Jimin: You stay his cute little secret. No one gets to look at you. You are his best friend and only his. No matter how often the others ask to meet you. He will keep you for himself. So his confession is also very private. Just the two of you in his apartment, he got you takeout and your favorite playlist is playing in the background. When he takes your hand and quietly whispers to you. "I just want to tell you, that I have been in love with you for so long."

Taehyung: No but why do I think that he talks with Yeontan about you? Because he definetly does. Whenever he comes home from your place he immediately falls into a quick ramble about you, gushing about you smiling widely. So much that Yeontan probably reacts to your name and of course you are over a lot so he also gets really excited to see you. Taehyung will confess to you unintentionally "You know, I think Yeontan is also in love with you"

Jungkook: This man can not hide his crushes to save his life. It will be so obvious. Whenever he sees you he has the brightest smile, being so excited to spent time with you. He introduces you to all his friends, and if anyone ever says something wrong about you or looks at you weirdly he gets really defensive. He confesses to you with a big gesture. "What? No this is not too much! This is just enough to show how much I love you!"

i have... never actually written established!relationship (in any fandom), now that i'm thinking about it? that said, i guess i can come up with a quick list of some headcanons, maybe? 😂 i will have to think about this more, but for now, here's a quick drop:

elsa is an early riser; elsa helps jack create more sustainable sleeping patterns and habit formations 😂

when jack gets Impetuous Urges to Do Something Rash and Impractically Spontaneous, elsa will ground jack, reminding him to think before acting. (he occasionally Still Does It, anyway.) elsa knows what she signed up for, lol.

jack loves to play Harmless(!) Pranks, just to watch elsa’s reaction. (he is no longer allowed to sneak up on her after The Incident).

they also quibble over the definition of "harmless" and the specific logistical implications of that; for a while, jack was banned from further pranking, but then he got more creative at showing elsa that pranks could be wholesome and genuine, in which they could both be in on the joke. however, due to elsa's deeply-rooted Need to Excel and her (Not-so)Secret Competitive AF Streak, her retaliation in escalating the Cleverness Prank War quickly resulted in jack's prompt implementation of the Prank-Free Zones and Time Periods. (no, he was not scared.)

elsa, usually reserved, has learned to let her playful side show more often with jack. she might still pretend to be exasperated by his antics, but sometimes it's part of the game (or habit).

elsa sill struggles with opening up emotionally sometimes, but she progressively feels safe enough to share her innermost thoughts and fears. with time, she confides in him more about her worries. she still never likes the idea that jack sees her Imperfect Parts, but at least she can tolerate the discomfort (and, yes, take comfort in it) now

(jack loves elsa's Imperfect Parts, and jack admits that he is Weirdly Proud and Competitively Honored to be one of the only people, even including anna, who gets to see them. he also is strangely Comforted and Validated that elsa is, in fact, not perfect because for a while there, he was pretty freaked out and intimidated by how fancy she is.)

until he realized that no one ever let her actually be a Weirdo before, and once he realizes the Truth of Elsa Also Being a Secret (albeit perhaps more Subdued) Weirdo, the Universe Aligns.

jack listens to elsa's Big Conversations intently, activating varying levels of Serious Mode.

jack is getting better at recognizing the moments when elsa needs him to play and needs him to listen or Give His Opinion or any combination of those things.

jack learns that it's not always about Saying the Right Thing (which he is not very good at, anyway, or so our Serially Unreliable Narrator thinks), but rather being able to read elsa's mood and anticipate what she might need (even if she is not aware of it herself yet).

elsa is meticulous about planning and preparing for special occasions.

elsa likes traditions! jack likes tradition only because elsa likes them, lol, and hey, okay, these are more fun than he thought?? (who knew fun could be organized??!!?)

so he really wants to show (off to) her by pulling off Incredible Planning Feats in her honor, too (they do not go as smoothly, lol).

jack will often go out of his way to spontaneously create something meaningful, a moment or a gift or a gesture, that reminds elsa that he cares. he is big on words of affirmation, gift giving (but like, souvenirs that he collects on adventures like, "i saw this rock and it reminded me of your cousin olaf, we should put it on the window after we paint his face on it"), and acts of service, as well as physical touch and quality time. HE WANTS LOVE. he wants TO BE LOVED. he wants to prove that he is worthy of being loved.

(and elsa has to get him to Chill Out sometimes, remind him that he doesn't have to Do Things For Her/Anyone in order to be deserving of care; he is more than what he provides for other people.)

(jack gets its, and appreciates it, but also, the Urge to Provide and Protect is still strong, even after so much time, and sometimes Old Habits Die Hard.)

i get the sense that he'd be the type to he wake elsa up in the middle of the night to take her on a surprise adventure, or convince her to Do a Fun Thing without any preparation (/warning).

and she would Be Alarmed at the Lack of Plan (especially if/when jack Did Not Think This Through), but he also took precautions to ward off Concerns by pacifying her with tea, or reassurances that yes, he did call ahead to make sure the restaurant was open before they left the house, of course he did, he would never just leave home without double-checking beforehand (and frantically googles it two minutes later when he thinks she's not looking; she is, naturally, and even occasionally pretends not to be).

elsa approaches conflict with a desire to resolve things Calmly and Logically. she tries to understand jack’s perspective, even when she disagrees, and she’s careful with her words, not wanting to escalate the situation.

however, she can sometimes withdraw emotionally, fearing that she might say something hurtful if she’s too overwhelmed.

jack was initially (and, honestly, still is, even though he understands more now) hurt by her tendency to shut down when she Feels Too Much, and understands (although it's still hard) that elsa needs time to process her feelings and organize her thoughts.

jack also helps elsa actually Feel her Feelings, instead of just trying to intellectualize and analyze them. (she hates it, BUT sees the value. jack lives for these moments in which he realizes that he's actually contributing positively to her life and helping her in some way, rather than just being a burden or a nuisance, as was/is his fear.)

his initial reaction might be to push for a resolution quickly, but he’s also deeply afraid of Creating Distance between them, so after the first few fights, he really makes an effort to find the right balance between Pushing Hard Enough and Not Pushing Too hard, so that he doesn't drive a wedge between them as they work things out.

jack FEELS intensely, and can be so stubborn. he does not always have the most precise vocabulary or tools to describe his thoughts and feelings, or identify the root causes of what is actually going on inside him; sometimes elsa asks a lot of insightful and guiding questions that help jack come to the conclusions himself, and other times, she Puts Into Words the very thing that he had been thinking or feeling, but could not name, and it is very reassuring to have someone who understands him well enough to be able to do that.

after conflicts or arguments, they take time to Decompress and reassure one another (especially if at least one of them, if not both, was Overthinking again).

when they argue (and healthy couples do, remember!), it’s a dance of patience and understanding: elsa might need a moment to Collect Herself, and jack learns to give her that Space while also making it clear that he’s ready to talk whenever she is, and that he is going to try very hard to be Rational and Patient About It.

in the end, they both prioritize their relationship over any disagreement, always finding a way back to each other.
