One of my FAVORITE headcanons is that Lance always says shit to Keith in Spanish so Keith doesn't understand it

Keith realizes his feelings first, but Lance is the one to confess. He'd do it in some stupidly cheesy way too and stutter his ass all over the place

At first they try to hide their relationship from the others, as per Keith's request. Lance thinks it's bc Keith isn't super open abt his life, but Keith just thinks it's funny

Keith has a great sense of humor and it baffles Lance when he finds out

Lance likes to play "What Can My Galra Boyfriend Do?", in which he tests out different things to see how much Galraness Keith inherited. It never ends well

Okay... I am currently back on my Voltron bullshit and continuing my rewrite of Voltron. And I'm constantly reminding of HOW MUCH I HATE LANCE.

Don't get me wrong. I am still treating Lance fairly in my fic, making sure he gets screen-time and a proper character acr and stuff.

But by GODS. This man pisses me off so much and that's only made worse by his stans. I was scrolling through Keith's tag here on tumblr. I also have Kl@nce filtered out. I cannot see a single post without at least three pages of scrolling and then it's only ONE POST. AND IT'S STILL KLANCE BECAUSE IT HASN'T BEEN TAGGED CORRECTLY.

Anyway. Onto the actual things I hate about Lance and not just his fandom.

Lance is a fucking asshole. I mean that on the deepest level. Let's go through it chronologically because I cannot rank it from least to most assholery, because some things are on the same level.

1 - Allura wakes up from the cryopod and Lances catches her. She's confused and dazed and the first thing you should do is ask if she's alright. Oh, but Lance is above that. Instead, he flirts with her. Karma given immediately as she calls his ears hideous and puts him in a submission hold, which is why I kept that scene in my fic, but that was still wrong. I know it was played for comedic effect, but that doesn't make it not canon. It's canonically accurate that if you've awoken from a coma, Lance's first instinct is to flirt with you if you're pretty.

2 - Literally throws Hunk into the middle of a battle. I get that Hunk was supposed to leave the Lion anyway, but just shoving him out when there are lasers everywhere and Hunk has no protection? Yeah. So much for 'best friend'. Add on the fact that Lance never really treats Hunk like a friend. At all.

3 - Okay. Season 1 Lance isn't bad outside of those two examples, even if he has his dumb moments, so let's jump to Season 2. Starting shit with Keith for no reason. People can go 'oh, Keith obviously did something to him at the Garrison' but he DIDN'T. The writers themselves confirmed that Keith did nothing to Lance, he just started shit with Keith all the fucking time. Like accussing Keith of wanting Blue and cutting him off when he tried to explain what was actually happening, even though Lance is the one who was outraged initially that Keith had Red. Or how about Lance getting up in Shiro's face and screaming his head off about how Keith would rather kill people than listen to them, as if he knew Keith at all after bullying him the entire time.

4 - Okay. This one pissed me off the most and is the biggest reason I'm making this post. The fact that Lance used Shiro's death/disappearance against Keith. Keith outwardly expresses his lack of desire to become the leader and accidentally let it slip that Shiro wanted him to do it. To which Lance is all 'convenient that you say that when Shiro's gone'. What. What the fuck. Stans really say that Lance is precious but how the hell are you justifying that? A blind man could see how much Keith loves Shiro, and Lance has the fucking gall the say that Keith is USING his death/disappearance for a position he doesn't want? He didn't even apologise for it. He just told Keith to suck it up later on. This is one of the reasons I hated Lance as the Red Paladin, the others being explained in an earlier post of mine.

5 - Oh, yeah. We're not done. Because after Keith, it's Allura. Allur@nce is probably the worst ship that could have happened, apart from Kl@nce. If you wanted a straight ship, how about what was canon for the past Voltron series? Kallura? Anyway. Yeah, Lance treats Allura like a prize instead of a person. He's posessive in a way that he has no right to be because they were not together. He glares at Matt for flirting with Allura, something he only does once. He gets mad at Lotor and tries to stop them from spending time together, EVEN THOUGH LOTOR IS HELPING ALLURA AND BONDING THROUGH ALTEAN THINGS. HELPING HER KEEP IN TOUCH WITH ALTEAN CULTURE. In Season 8, he literally yells that it should be Lance and Allura?? What a fucking weirdo?? You can't claim that you're destined to be with someone without being together. That's not how healthy relationships work. That's how a stalker's mind works. Lance is constantly flirting with Allura throughout all of Voltron and she never once reciprocated until Season 8 where it's so obvious that Lance is just a rebound but the writers wanna make it so that it's 'true love' and they want Lance to be happier than anyone so they just gift her to him like some sort of trophy. Lance didn't care about loving Allura, he cared about winning her. At least Lotor actually cared for and respected her. I still don't like canon Lotor, but that's mostly because the writers didn't want to deal with gray morality. Cowards.

1 - Honestly the worst example of a leader. It's shown from episode one. Now, there is the argument of learning to become one, but Lance just never learns? He's never facing the consequences of his actions and, if he is lectured, he ignores it. Keith actually takes lessons to heart and tries to improve and he does. If Lance became the Black Paladin, the universe would have been doomed because he can't get over himself for a single moment to even bother listening to anyone else's advice.

So. Yeah. Those are the main reasons why Lance is an asshole. Now to make the Lance stans really pissed.

Reasons why Lance would have been a terrible leader and could never have been the Black Paladin.

Remember episode one? Remember how the hydraulic stabiliser was out in the simulator and Lance still tried to push on, even though Pidge and Hunk advised him not to? Totally great leadership qualities there. There's nothing better than a leader that refuses to listen to you. 'Oh, but Keith is stubborn and didn't listen--' yes he did. He's stubborn and unrelenting at first, but he eventually realises that they're right.

Remember episode three? Remember when Lance bragged about kicking, which made Voltron fall, then proceeded to try it again and failed again even when Keith advised him not to? Yeah. Lance does not make good decisions and does not listen to any advise. Even from the leader's right hand man.

Remember Season 1 Episode 12? Remember how they were waiting for Shiro and Allura to get back and then Keith saw someone taking quintessence so he decided to follow them? Remember how Lance said no and was ignored but did nothing more to stop Keith? He has no authority and no charisma to keep anyone at bay. Pidge herself mocks Lance for being the pinnacle for leadership. Sarcastically. Because he's far from it.

Pidge doesn't respect Lance as a leader, Keith never would considering Lance treats him like shit, Allura can't take Lance seriously with him hitting on her every ten seconds, and Hunk is always questioning Lance's decisions. If nobody respects you, you cannot be a good leader.

2 - Easily distracted. Yes, it's a very popular headcanon that Lance has ADHD, and I agree with that, but that doesn't make it okay. And he's distracted in the easiest ways. Just shove a pretty girl and he'll instantly get distracted and lead the entire team to doom. Remember Nyma and how easy it was for her to steal the Blue Lion? How he didn't even warn anyone that he was taking her out for a ride because he didn't want anyone contesting his conquest? Yeah.

Don't get me wrong. It's fine to have ADHD or get distracted easily. Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece is a great example of a leader who gets easily distracted, but the second he sets his mind on something, he blocks everything out. Lance just doesn't have the capability to do that, nor do I think he'd be able to learn how to.

3 - Gets jealous really easily. As in. Really fucking easily. He's jealous of Keith from the get-go, starting a one-sided rivalry that he's constantly on the losing side of because Keith doesn't care. He gets jealous of Matt when he flirts a bit with Allura. He gets extremely jealous of Lotor for having actual chemistry with Allura. He's constantly jealous and a good leader is only ever in competition with himself. A good leader will only strive to become better for the sake of the team, not to say that they're better than someone else, much less if they're someone that you are in charge of. It's a horrible trait to have.

Jealousy in and of itself is not a bad thing. It's when that jealousy overrides your logic and controls you, instead of you controlling your jealousy: which Lance struggles with a lot. And getting jealous over anyone who even looks at your crush is a very bad thing to do because you do not own your crush. It's okay to be jealous, but not posessively like Lance is. Not to the extent of trying to scare off any potential suitors.

4 - Nowhere near as skilled as Keith or Shiro. Sure, the writers may claim that he is better, but the proof is in the pudding. Keith and Shiro are fucking unmatched. I've defended Lance's skills in a previous post, but I also said in that post that, while he is skilled, he is nowhere near Shiro or Keith's level. I mean, Shiro was the golden child of the Garrison and set so many records. He was known as the best pilot. Keith beat those records and his flying capabilities are always, always noted. I haven't heard a single character comment on Lance's skills, other than to point out how bad they are. Keith was the only one who could have flew through the astroid field, he was the only one who could fly into the Marmora base which was in a blue star surrounded by two black holes, he was able to fly a Galra jet just by pushing the right buttons and knowing what the do, and he's the one who unlocks the warping abilities of the Black Lion. Shiro was able to connect with the Black Lion far before anyone else, able to see through Black and connect with Black to the point of his soul being saved by her.

Lance hasn't done anything spectacular. And, no. He was not 'done dirty'. He was given almost everything he wanted except the Black Lion. The writers claim he's the best pilot, but have not shown it at all. In my eyes, Keith and Shiro will always be the best.

5 - Selfish. Again. Nothing against being selfish. It's perfectly fine to be selfish, so long as it doesn't actively harm others. But for a leader? You should be as selfless as you can be. The team comes before you. And that's exactly what Lance isn't.

Lance is selfish and that's okay, but it's not leadership material. The whole reason Black rejected him is because he wanted the position out of selfish reasons. When he enters Black, he says 'Come on, Lance. You can do this'. In other words, he wants to pilot her because he wants to prove himself. He wants the acknowledgement. He wants the title of the Black Paladin and leader. Black accepted Keith, both at the start of Season 2 and Season 3, because he piloted her for purely selfless reasons. For Shiro.

Lance wants things for himself. Keith wanted things for Shiro. It was only after Shiro came back, (or so they thought), that Keith started focusing more on himself. Even then, he put everyone else before him. He distanced himself from the team so that Shiro could pilot Black again, and he was constantly risking his life for the Blades.

Lance just... isn't the type. He has put others before himself, but he expect things out of it. He expects a parade and acknowledgement. Nobody knew what Shiro went through to rid Zarkon of his connection to the Black Lion. Nobody knew what Shiro went through in his imprisonment because he doesn't want to burden anyone with that. Nobody knew what Keith went through to save Black and Shiro from Zarkon. Nobody knew what Keith went through when they were all mad at him for missing an attack. Lance doesn't withold that sort of stuff. The only thing he doesn't talk about is his insecurities, which he ends up spilling to the mice and Laika (the Yupper) anyway.

6 - Last one. Promise.

Nothing fucking happened. While Keith was gone, nothing of importance happened surrounding Voltron specifically. There was the Lion mind meld and Lotor joining, but all that served to prove was, with the mind meld, if Keith was there, he would have heard Shiro. And with Lotor joining, all it proved was how immature Lance was.

The second Keith gets back, things start happening again. Lotor gets outed as cruel and manipulative (still an ass-pull, by the way), Shiro gets outed as a clone, and so on. If Lance was leading, they all probably would have died ages ago. I'm talking Season 3 Episode 2, ages ago. Because Lance just isn't cut out for it.

So. Yeah. Those are the main reasons I hate Lance and why Black Paladin Lance is an awful idea. Screw the people who believe in it. It is awful.

Like I said, this won't affect my treatment of Lance in my rewrite, because I can fix those issues that come up. I don't have an issue with Season 1 Lance, it's later on that gets problematic. I just hate people building Lance up by bashing all the other characters, then claiming that Lance is the most traumatised, sad character when SHIRO AND KEITH ARE RIGHT THERE. NOT TO MENTION ALLURA, WHO LOST HER ENTIRE SPECIES, AND CORAN WHO LOST EVERYONE INCLUDING ALLURA AND NEVER GOT TO SAY GOODBYE TO HER.

Fuck. I hate Voltron so much but I can't help but love it.

Keith reaches out in hopes of consolation, but Lance only moves away. "I didn't mean to worry you-"

"Worry me!? You did so much more than just worry me! I thought you were dead, Keith! I thought--" His breath hitches and he falls quiet, silent sobs make their way into the back of his throat. "I thought I would never see you again..."

Lance throws his fists against Keith's chest, with brittle tears dripping from his eyes. He wants so badly to hurt him the way he had been hurt, and yet, all he can find himself doing is wrapping his arms around Keith's neck and melting into him.

"I'm here now..." He whispers, "I won't ever leave you again..." He wraps one arm around Lance's waist, and brushes through his hair with his free hand.

"..."

"Why did you?"

"It's... complicated... The Blade called for me, and I had to answer. If I had focused on anything but the mission, we wouldn't have succeeded..."

"But you could have told me before you left..."

"You were sleeping... I didn't have the heart to wake you.."

Lance sighs, snuggling into the crook of Keith's neck, "Stupid Galra... You may be strong, and sure, you live longer than humans, and it's harder for thing to kill you and all that, but you know, I'm always going to worry about you... You can't just.. run away.. without saying anything..."

The Hypocrisy of the Klance & Plance Age Differences

I'm a Plance shipper. I think Lance and Pidge are perfect together. I'll get into that a different day, though.

The main gripe I hear from Klance shippers about how Plance is "creepy" and "doesn't work" is because there's a 3 year age difference between the two.

Alright then, let's look at ages.

The VLD timeline is convoluted at best. I literally spent about 3 hours one night trying to figure out the timeline and eventually came to one that I think works out pretty well. A HUGE shoutout goes to Greg Tyler who wrote several blog articles about this confusing conundrum.

The ages of the Paladins when they leave in the Blue Lion:

Keith - 18

Hunk - 17

***This is where I demonstrate someone can have their own head canon but still respect canon when it comes to official VLD issues. I personally believe his age is really 18. Hunk is listed as being 17 with his birthday is in January. Due to Hunk's looks, size, and maturity, I don't think the year they left in the Blue Lion he turned from 16 to 17. I think he turned from 17 to 18. So in the VLD fan stuff I create, Hunk is older than Lance, not younger. But we'll go with what the creators said and also because Hunk's age is 17 in the guidebook.***

Lance - 17

Pidge - 15

***Pidge's age has been disputed over the years, with some incorrectly saying she's 14. The guidebook states she is 15. I think some of the misinformation is spread so people can look down on the Plance shipping.***

To keep the mathing simple, let's assume Keith was born in the year 2300. Birthdays will be thus:

Again, the year is arbitrary to make mathing easier. I still can't figure out what year VLD takes place.

In S1 E1, there's a calendar on the wall in Keith's shack that has the number 2 on it. Assuming Keith kept up with his calendar, we know the Paladins left in the Blue Lion on the 2nd.

I go with Greg's timeline, because he's pretty much a Voltron scholar of all the different Voltron branches. Greg worked out that the Paladins left in May, which looks accurate from the scenery.

Note: I live in the desert, and yes, there is a difference between Spring and Fall. The sun light in S1 E1 looks much more like Spring light than Fall light.

So, the Paladins and Shiro left Earth in the Blue Lion on May 2nd, 2319.

Seasons 1-6 take place roughly throughout the rest of 2319 and I believe into 2320.

This is where things get complicated.

By December of 2319, these are the Paladins' ages:

Going along with the timeline, Keith does his two year age jump in the Quantum Abyss sometime in the first half of 2320.

So, the first half of 2320, the ages are:

And at the end of 2320, the ages are:

Take a good, long look at those ages for the second half of 2320.

Most people will be hung up on the fact that Lance is 19 and Pidge is 16. It's a 3 year age difference.

But what is Keith's age minus Lance's age? 22-19?

3 years.

Let's repeat that.

22-19 = 3.

Keith is 3 years older than Lance due to his two year jump in the Quantum Abyss.

Now before y'all come at me, finish reading the entire post.

Pidge and Lance are only 2 years apart for roughly 3.5 months, from April - July.

Lance and Keith are only 2 years apart for roughly 3 months, from July - October.

Thus, because of Keith's time jump, Lance and Keith are as far apart in age as Lance and Pidge.

Actually ... Pidge and Lance are technically closer in age by roughly two weeks.

"But 22 and 19 are better than 19 and 16 because 22 and 19 are adults!" I can just hear some of y'all screaming this at the computer.

Here's a fun little fact:

Just because someone is 18 and a legal adult does not necessarily mean it is okay for them to date another legal adult.

Someone at 19 can still be in a very predatory relationship with someone who is 22.

Klancers who are saying that their ship is more "moral" are just wrong.

It's not more moral. Either Klancers don't know how to math or they're willing to look the other way when it comes to what they want.

And before my words are twisted and taken out of context, I'm not saying Keith and Lance would have a predatory relationship. But the logic that their three year age gap is better than Lance and Pidge's because it's "more moral" doesn't hold any ground and is flawed.

Do Klancers honestly think a story with a 23 year old Pidge and 26 year old Lance is worse than a 23 year old Lance and 26 year old Keith?

Make it make sense.

If Pidge having a crush on Lance when she's 15 and he's 17 and then turns 18 is bad, then no one should have celebrity crushes - or just crushes in general. Ever. Until they're at least 21.

Do you really think a 19 year old Lance would date a 16 year old? I don't think so. Where are your morals if you think Lance would do that? And, quite frankly, neither of them are ready to date at the end of the series (before we get the 5 year in the future photo). Lance is still mourning the loss of Allura and Pidge is focused on improving the Garrison.

Not to mention all of the trauma and therapy everyone needs to go through. They need time to process and work on themselves. But I can see a Pidge and Lance in their 20s connecting with each other. They're a perfect balance of each other.

But, again, that's another post for another day. Don't worry - it's coming.

Right now, though, I'm gonna go water some Plance - I mean, plants.

hi! So, I wanted to write a klance ff in a cool zombie survival au but mid-creating it I realised it wasn't klance dynamic at all but 100% pure jaith material. Except. I haven't even READ jaith yet. Could I possibly get the chance to be guided through my ignorance by the illustrious Official Jaith Guardian themself and get some fanfic recs? All of my headcanons and stuff come from these two fics. Theyre so good. Also be sure to listen to the jaith playlist (in order! Not shuffled) i linked while reading. Double ouchie.

Their relationship is very much a constant push and pull.

Keith pushes james away because he doesn’t even know if he can love and doesnt want to lead james on (aroace spec keith for the win) and because of his perceived faults and flaws, james tries to pull him closer because keith has been one of the only people to like him for him, not for the facade he puts up in public and because he doesn’t care about Keith’s small flaws he makes out to be huge

James pushes keith away out of fear that his constantly suppressed anger and jealousy will rear its head and hurt keith (and also because of internalized homophobia), keith tries to pull him closer because james was the only one who stubbornly stuck by his side even through all the years where he was horrible to james

Basically one of the fundamental differences i feel exists between jaith and klance is the idea that james and keith grew up together and only had eachother for a significant period of time. Keith lost his father and tried closing himself off to the world, but james refused to let that happen. Keith saw right past james’ charade of charming smiles and well ironed shirts to see the real him who was in desperate need of a significant connection. For every insecurity one of them has the other vehemently insists on loving them despite (or because of) it. For every bad thing one of them does the other will insist that its alright and that people grow and change.

They exist together through mutual respect, mutual rivalry, mutual love for eachother, and mutual hatred. They’re complicated little guys but no matter how much they claim to hate eachother they know that if they were separated they’d miss eachother desperately, almost violently.

Only when they’ve matured emotionally do they finally realize just how much they like eachother lol. Things get much better when teenage hormone’s aren’t in the mix

Only when they’re older do they realize how much they needed, and still need, eachother

Theyre made for eachother but the universe seems hell bent on tearing them apart.

They are mirrors of eachother but also opposites. They love eachother so much but dont dare to let that love fully show. Im in pain i hate them sm 😞

Some random unedited Klance stuff I wrote at like 2am last night

Lance finds himself standing before his mirror, eyes darting back and forth across his reflection as if scanning for something. With a sigh, he steps back and slumps down into his bed. Nothing out of the ordinary. It's perfectly normal. Unremarkable.

Nothing special.

Fitting, because that's all he is, isn't it? He's nothing special. Everyone else has something going for them. Shiro had been the leader who always figured out what to do and now he leads from the sidelines, Pidge is the tech genius who always has a comment to make. Hunk's the friendliest guy Lance has ever met and holds the team together, all the while making the best food ever. Allura and Coran know all about the lions and run the entire ship.

And Keith. Keith was the best at everything. He'd been the best cadet in the Garrison, he was hella good at fighting, thinking on the spot and being the team leader, looking pretty... And not the worst diplomat ever to exist. So basically all he needs to be a great paladin.

Lance couldn't help but envy Keith a little. Ever since his Garrison days Lance had always wanted to prove himself, to be worth something. But now here he is, deflated and sitting on his bed with no role to fill. And why would the team want him if he doesn't have a role to play?

But a much more devastating thought prickles in the back of Lance's mind. As much as he envies Keith and always made an effort to go out of his way to poke fun at him, he can't help but admire him. I mean, it's hard not to. The powerful yet graceful motions when he fights, the feeling in his voice when he gives commands to the team, his persistence when he wants sonething, and the amount he cares for his teammates.

It would take some kind of miracle to have that absolute prodigy even come remotely close to falling for a simple boy from Cuba with no redeeming qualities?

I mean, there's his immeasurable charm... But Keith could beat that one pretty easily. His mullet is nicer than Lance says it is on a regular basis. And his eyes. But no matter how much admiring Lance does, that's not gonna get him anywhere. It's not like he can say anything to Keith though.

Lance leans against the wall and lets his body deflate further. The more he thinks about Keith the more he can feel an ache growing in his chest. Collapsed against the wall, he lifts his hand to rub his eye and there's something wet on his face.

He was crying.

Right at that moment there's a knock on the door. Hurriedly, Lance wipes his eyes with his sleeve and inhales slowly and deeply before calling out, "Just come in."

The door opens to reveal none other than Keith himself. Keith's eyes widen to see Lance sprawled across his bed, leaning against the wall. "Are.. You okay over there, buddy?"

"Hey Keith, I'm... I don't know." Lance lifts his head and gives a weak smile. Keith walks over, sits down and glances at Lance with a look of concern.

"Lance, have you been crying?"

Lance blinks before turning his head away and taking another deep breath. As he exhales, Keith places a hand gently on his shoulder. "Look, I know I'm not necessarily the best one to talk to sometimes, but if you've got stuff on your mind you can always tell me."

Lance can feel the waterfalls that come rushing from his eyes as he pushes himself up and wraps his arms tightly around Keith, muffling his sob as he buries his face in Keith's shoulder. Keith is frozen for only a second before he returns the gesture. The two sit there like that in silence for a number of minutes before Lance eventually raises his head again and attempts to wipe his eyes on sleeves that are becoming more and more drenched by the second.

Noticing he left a large wet patch on Keith's shirt, he starts, "Keith, I- I'm so sorry I-"

"Hey, shh, it's okay, Lance," Keith reassures him, "what's on your mind, bud?"

Lance's head is flooded with thoughts; he wants to tell Keith just how he feels about him but the eminent doom of what would surely be a rejection stops him. He wants to confirm or deny his suspicions that he won't have a place in team Voltron anymore. Or maybe he just wants to know what Keith thinks of him. Lance's head spins but he opens his mouth to begin but somehow he blurts out everything all at once.

"I don't feel like I even have a place on the team anymore because everyone has something and I don't and I feel useless as if I'm just some normal guy while everyone else gets to be something special and I just want you to want me here and I know I make fun of you but I actually care more than I'd like to admit but I'm so jealous of you because you get to be something awesome that I could never be and I just want to be something and I..." he trails off into silence.

Keith slowly absorbs the information before once more glancing at the pile of limbs that is Lance before grabbing him by the shoulders and staring him straight in the eye, "You're not going anywhere. We aren't replacing you, Lance, and we aren't kicking you off the team."

His gaze softens and the muscles in his arms and hands relax a bit, "I'm not really sure how to put this next bit into words so you're just gonna have to trust me, okay?"

Lance pauses and cocks his head slightly, confused. Slowly he nods at Keith and says "I trust you."

And with that, Keith leans down and presses his lips to Lance's. Sliding one arm around his waist and one behind his head he kisses him smoothly but firmly. After a while he pulls away to reveal Lance, wide eyed and red faced, but now only the slight remnants of his tears remain glistening on his eyelashes.

Satisfied, Keith smirks through his words when he asks Lance, "does that give you your answer?"

Lance nods, causing Keith to smirk even more. Pushing himself up from the bed, Keith turns toward the door.

"Well then, if that's all you need from me I'll be in m-"

He's cut off by Lance who springs up and grabs Keith by the arm, spinning him around and kissing him again. This time it's Keith who's startled, but he quickly kisses Lance back. Lance's fingers run through Keith's long black hair and the other still holds him by the arm. The two pull away from each other and Lance, shooting Keith a challenging look, says "couldn't let you get away with winning that one, Kogane."

The slightest hint of pink dusts Keith's cheeks as he chuckles quietly to himself as he walks out of the room, leaving Lance standing in the middle of his room, now alone. But somehow, Lance didn't feel quite so separate anymore.

well,,, that’s what i always do. english is another language to me! cop out answer, lmao. but other than that, i guess i could be persuaded to write a few lines in spanish here and there. did study it for 7 years, after all.

overall, i thinks it pretty cool! as long as there is an ez translation somewhere, easy to understand without a translation, or if it’s not done in a way that bi/multilinguals absolutely would not speak B)

god last night i finally finished voltron after like 5 years (i stopped watching it bc of some stuff) and i got really emotional, i used to ship klance so the first thing i did after that was coming to my old and forgotten tumblr and i didn’t expect to see people drawing them actively, bUT you do,, and- okay so the point is that i follow you since forever and i even have your notifs on, and i’m so glad i came back here, bc your art is AMAZING and you are so cool and yea. sorry for venting on you sndndb okay bye! ✨

Kind of 2 questions One, how did u improve your anatomy and coloring? I was reading through your klance comics on tapas and the improvement was just BOOM there. I was wondering if u had tips for that :D cause ur anatomy is *chefs kiss* and two. would u ever make a small tutorial on your coloring process? the way you color hair is so good. Sry for the long ask! love ur work i just found you this week and read through 2 fics and went thru all ur art lol

So I do actually have a solid answer to these questions.

During the process of creating my klance comics, I was having a conversation with a coworker who had seen my work before, and he said something along the lines of "you need to improve everything about your work" which - yeah super rude but whatever.

After that conversation I started looking into the things about art I had not had any real formal training on. And I came up with two options that vastly improved my work (probably where you can see the visible difference).

I took a figure drawing class, and

I took a digital coloring course.

The figure drawing class was with this guy (I did in person classes, but I'm sure he's got some helpful tips in his videos as well), and the coloring course was with this guy (I bought the full course, but he's got some very helpful stuff in his free videos, too).

These were the things that worked for me, and they are things I recommend in general for building a solid art foundation. There are many resources you can find online for figure drawing/anatomy and coloring tips apart from the two I have listed here, so I hope this helps!

As for the second question, I do actually release a tutorial once a month as part of my Patreon, and I have covered many things including coloring, there.

But since you mentioned hair, here's a little tip sheet I can include (since the actual coloring process tutorials are a bit more involved):

Now. We all know what happened during Allura and Lance's date.

We can also assume that while it was happening, Pidge was doing tech-stuff, Hunk was cooking, and Coran was doing generally Coran-ish things.

Keith however, was not.

He was laying in a dark dorm room with his head stuffed in a pillow. He didn't know why he tortures himself like this. He had just given a pep talk to his CRUSH so that his CRUSH would be confident to go out with a GIRL.

Ugh, making reasonable life decision sucks.

Shiro, of course, has been through his fair share of gay dilemmas. His psychic dad sense clued him into Keith's situation.

"Hey... rough day?"

Keith just grunted into his pillow, which meant 'yes' to Shiro.

"Dang, that bad? It this a non-existent love life problem or something else? 'Cuz I can help you with the first one."

Keith flopped over onto his back and stared blankly at the ceiling. After a minute, he held up one finger. That, or he was just flipping Shiro off, but Shiro was trying to be optimistic here.

"You've gotta help me out a bit here, bro. Do you want advice or a distraction?"

Keith decided to finally pipe up.

"Give me a pep talk and I will not hesitate to shove a knife down your throat."

Shiro held his hands up. Keith didn't respond, so he just picked the guy up and hauled him to his car. There was no protest from the black paladin, but that tends to happen when a guy rejects you without even realizing that he's doing it.

An hour later, they arrived at a small bar in the closest town to the garrison.

Seeing their destination, Keith finally I dropped for a moment to raise an eyebrow at Shiro.

Shiro just shrugged with a crooked grin on his face. “You passed the drinking age in space. I figured we could have your first real drink before going back out to the war. None of that disgusting Nunville stuff Coran offers us.”

Long story short, Keith has had 3 (or was it 4?) shots and Shiro is hanging on to Keith’s shoulders to keep his balance. He was a bit too enthusiastic, and the only noises that leave his mouth now are garbled, slurred words.

Drunk Shiro seems determined to give Keith a talk, though.

“I remember my first boyfriend. He was cute. But soooo straight. He smelled like water.”

Keith’s brow shoots up to his hairline.

“What are going on about, Shiro? Are you really gonna do this now? Also, how does someone smell like water?”

Shiro raises his prosthetic arm to Keith’s face in a poor attempt to shush him, but his lack of coordination leads him wack Keith across the face.

“Shhhh shshshshh. Let me brother you. What I’m trying to say is, cute guys are straight sometimes. So instead of wallowing in self-pity, you RIOT! You gotta go up to his dumb face and FESS UP. He flirts with literally anyone! He has to at least bisexual. And if you fail and humiliate yourself, we can watch Pitch Perfect together in a dark room and eat too much ice cream and I can yell at him for you. Alright?”

Keith shakes his head with a small laugh. Even drunk Shiro has his dumb way of cheering Keith up. And, who knows? Maybe his advice is halfway decent.

Pre-Season 7 Thoughts

-> I said in my S6 post that I thought it could be a decent ending if some strings were finally tied, so hopefully this season clears those up

-> S6 was pretty intense at the end, hopefully they tone it down a notch as they go on their little earth roadtrip

-> the aftermath of Lotor dying is definitely something that will weigh on Allura. Hopefully she doesn’t get too torn up about it

-> I’m really curious as to how the new team dynamics will play out now that Kieth is back as black paladin. Will they go back to s1? s3? Will they just act like nothing??

-> really wanna scene where keith calls krolia mom for the first time

-> what is with this “game show” episode??

-> I’m curious as to how ships will play out now.. Lance seems to be okay with Allura not liking him back after s6, their talk was really nice. As much as I think they look cute together, Allura needs time to get over Lotor first, and Lance seems to be already moving on.

Post-Season 7

While the other of Lotor’s generals go for whatever seems right for them, (as you should in war) she seems to calculate things on a matter of both that and morality, while also looking at the big picture. “Well, this would save my ass, save the universe from chaos, and be morally intact…sounds good”

-> while, for the most part, I try to understand the writers faults further than just face level, (ie netflix or dreamworks just didn’t let them explicitly put anything there) idk I just. I feel like they could’ve at least played it off as them being “good friends” or something. But to kill him off is just…it feels wrong.

->and it feels like a wrong for shiro too. He finally gets to be on earth after everything that’s happened to him, and the one thing he’d been hoping to finally see,,is gone.

->I just feel like they did shiro dirty. they can never give that poor man a break.

It’s nice to know he’s matured and stuff, and can actually say what he feels and such, be a good team member/leader. I just wish it wasn’t all off-screen. ->as much as I think allurance is cute, I feel like they’re kinda rushing it. Like. by the time they got to Earth it had barely been a month of being stuck in space post-s6. Maximum it’s been 3 months by the time of the final battle. she would not be blushing. She would be mourning Lotor. They could’ve had a little subplot about that,,the crushing weight of knowing she could’ve both stopped his death and the guilty feeling of “why am i mourning him..? He was a bad person” because she still loved him!! She still loved him when they were about to leave him in the quintessence field and she felt conflicted!!

->she would’ve also not caught feelings that fast. Let’s say she somehow miraculously got over Lotor in 2 months. (minimum!) she still wouldn’t have caught feelings! Maybe she would start like. the budding processes to begin to fall for lance…but she wouldn’t be blushing and being all bashful like that.

-> basically all I’m saying is I really hope they don’t rush this. It would feel unfair to both her and Lance. Allura literally was like “oh..😕 he said that..☹️?” In s6 when the mice told her about Lance’s feelings because she felt bad about breaking his heart.

->and Lance has literally been after her for a really long time,, so it’d be unfair to pair him with someone who only started liking him like a week ago.

->I also hate the “guy pines after girl, girl doesn’t reciprocate and turns him down a lot, guy almost gives up, girl starts falling for him just as the show ends after not showing any interest previously” trope. (I am aware Allura and Lance do share some more sweet and romantic scenes/moments in s4-6, but you catch my drift, right?)

-> I really hope they put it well in s8.

->^I got to that Lance scene I’ve seen everywhere and just. Wow. it was so intense. I actually got chills. Amazing work from the animation crew yet again.

-> the final battle was sooo amazing and so beautiful.

->that admiral sanda girl was a bitch (i do not use that term lightly, especially for female characters) and not to sound like a maniac im glad she died ngl. She was stupid as hell if she thought her plan would work.

->also if the galra can invent something that can easily overpower Voltron, then why don’t they just take over the universe themselves?? They clearly have the resources to.

->again, need to say, if it weren’t for that altean chick, this could’ve also been a good ending?? like after reading the Wikipedia page I found out they had a 72 episode contract, so they need to get those last episodes out, (76 total, I did the math) but if anything I think it would be best if it was just a little anthology sort of thing. Like them defeating the rest of the galra left out, freeing planets, and focusing on their own lives and relationships (during and after). That would be probably the best course of action for s8.

These are thoughts I compile over time. I finished Season 7 on 10/12/24. I apologize for my delay on posting this, I was meant to post it last week. I will now finally start what you have probably all been waiting for: Season 8.

oh stars!! first off, thank you! I love that I can make you happy with my silly little ideas. Second, of course I have hs au headcanons!!

Keith and Lance sit next to each other in Biology, so they're bound to be lab partners. At first they really don't like each other. Lance thinks Keith is always trying to one up him, and Keith thinks Lance is insufferable.

By the time they're assigned probably their third project together, they decide that doing research separately is just too conflicting, so they agree to meet at The Park™️.

They start discussing stuff and writing down any relevant info they cover, but inevitably, they start getting off track. They start talking about clouds, which leads to the rain, rain leads to the ocean, the ocean leads to fish, then to what Lance had for dinner last night, favorite foods, favorite pass-times, family, and so on.

They each go home thinking that maybe, just maybe, the other isn't so bad.

Keith starts listening to Lance whenever he goes on rants, he engages, asks questions, and brings up new ideas.

Lance starts seeing Keith flaws, he starts seeing that they aren't too different, and that they're much closer to the same level than he'd thought.

In time, they both start to admire each other for different reasons.

Keith notices the way Lance talks about certain topics, how the glow in his eyes will shift when someone he does or doesn't like enters the classroom, the way he bites his lips when he's concentrated, or how he dulls when he gets texts from certain people, (cough cough, a boyfriend because conflict, cough cough).

Lance looks up to Keith, he admires how he can do pretty much anything he puts his mind to, how he never gets caught up in the local drama, how no matter what rumors are spread, he always walks with confidence and purpose.

One day, Lance comes into class looking distant and reclusive. Keith tries to ask him about it, but his only response is "We can talk about it later."

And so they go through Biology hardly speaking a word. Keith feels his stomach pooling with anxiety, wondering if it was something he did, though he knows he hasn't done anything wrong... has he?

Time goes by slowly. Minutes feel like hours. An hour feels like days. But eventually the bell finally rings, and the day is over.

Lance stands and gathers his things, and he's barely gotten his bag on his back before Keith grabs his wrist and drags him into an empty room.

"So, what is it? What's going on?" The sharpness in Keith's voice makes him come off a bit more irritated than he his, and naturally it's taken the wrong way.

Lance scoffs and crosses his arms, "What's got you so pissed off?"

Keith sighs, "I didn't mean to say it like that." And he asks again in a much gentler tone, "What's going on?"

"My uh... Well, I found my partner shoving his tongue down some other guys throat earlier this morning.... Again.... And then before Biology he had the audacity to tell me to stop talking to you, so I dumped him..."

"..."

"You aren't telling me everything. Something happened after that."

"Gods, I hate how well you know me..."

"So, what was it?"

"He... Uhm.. He told me that nobody could ever love me the way he did... He said he was the only one who could love me.. The only one that knew me and still cared... He said my friends talked about me, and even though I know they don't I still-"

At this point, tears are dripping from his eyes, his voice is cracking on every other word, and he's curling in on himself.

Keith pulls him into a hug, silently swearing on every breath that he'll make things better for him.

"If it makes a difference... I think you're pretty cool.."

"Yeah, thanks.."

Lance dries his tears and takes a step back, "We should probably go. My mom's gonna kill me if I miss the bus.. And plus if Rachel finds us in here, we'll never hear the end of it."

Keith nods and they leave the room.

Agghhh it was so hard not to turn this into a confession, i didn't want too because the last one was a confession and using the same idea that close together goes against my author brain.

also they're in choir together.

and they joined the volleyball club (shush i'm rewatching Haikyuu)
