The solution is to build up power inside our local communities outside of capitalism by getting involved with (or starting) an organization seeking to do that. We have to look to Leftist organizers for guidance. We have to look to historical Leftist strikes, resistances, and rebellions and learn from them, critically sifting through the actions of the past in order to not make the same mistakes.

“Be A Revolution: How Everyday People are Changing the World and You Can Too” by Ijeoma Oluo is an AWESOME book to read if you are feeling hopeless, drained, or are looking for how to start. One thing Oluo helped me with was realizing how capitalist-fucked my imagination was— every solution I could think of was a half-measure and I always felt overwhelmingly unsatisfied at the progress that my imagined solution could affect. Once you realize how powerful imagination is, you realize how we need to weaponize it as a means of deradicalizing people out of the death cults of fascism and capitalism, and you realize just how possible that really is. The first thing you’ll need to do when organizing is convincing other people to have hope— which is to imagine a better future.

Oluo also relays a LOT of accounts of how specific people went about starting organizations in response to the terrible conditions they were experiencing. There are men who are working against the patriarchy in prison— teaching their fellow men about how they’ve been trapped in a cage of toxic masculinity before ever being imprisoned. There are people dedicated to teaching about hierarchy and the functions of oppression. I haven’t finished it yet but the accounts I’ve read so far have changed everything for me.

So, what can you do?

First off:

Take care of yourself. You matter in so many ways to the cause— more than what you can do to make change, you are a beacon for people around you. You are a lover, a friend, a comrade. We must care for ourselves because we are loved and valued and losing us will only add to the despair people are already contending with. We must remind ourselves and each other that people are relying on us and not better off if we’re gone.

Focus on the humanity of the people around you. Are you surrounded by republicans? Focus on your mutual interests and don’t assert your differences— people will work with you while still calling themselves conservatives, so take advantage of that. You don’t have to be friends with everyone in the movement, even if having friends already engaging in direct action makes it way easier to do so yourself. Remember our goal is not ideological purity— it’s affecting change and change is all about numbers.

Keep moving further Left and continue questioning authority. These problems have been going on for hundreds of years, and they were never going to be solved by a system that exists to arbitrarily prevent people from access to human needs. We must look to the people who have already been in the fight rather than continue deferring to politicians.

If you’re able:

Volunteer at any local organization that is providing food or shelter— even if they are conservative, volunteer. Having that volunteer experience can help you see how those organizations are structured and who in your community is being failed by them.

Start an org for needs that aren’t being met in your local community. Start as small as you can, even as simple as starting a community garden in your backyard. It will snowball if it is helping people.

Find a spot to set up a free store. We all have stuff we don’t need anymore, instead of selling it or giving it to a thrift store, give it away to someone.

Print posters and zines and hand them out outside of high schools. We need to be engaging in tactics that work to bring young people further left and a part of that is simply informing them.

And since this is not a comprehensive list, continue seeking out radical solutions from authors and activists who have dedicated their whole life to studying and explaining. Look to the people who have been doing grass-roots organizing for years.

If you’re disabled:

spread information about how oppression functions and how to organize an assembly— you can explain to people who don’t have the time to study or who have a learning disability that make it difficult to parse the thousands of words that are used in explanation. Synthesizing info so that it is accessible to all is CRITICAL

start an artist coalition with friends and make provocative art that makes people think twice about all this shit. People are not aware of what their options are. They are also just trying to survive under capitalism.

share your knowledge on essential skills with your friends (gardening, opsec/infosec, conflict resolution, etc.) There are people who are working in these orgs that could use the expertise that you have.

Does that mean you’ll still react to Lily’s bad media takes? Because honestly, between what you, Ant and Crim (whom I understand doesn’t want to part take in the Lily Slop anymore, I respect) have accomplished by calling Lily out and her actively attacking you guys helps shows her true colors, especially when she was falsely striking y’all. You guys also helped a lot of people realize how toxic Lily can be and how she constantly talks nonsense. Girl is having coffee at the screen of the crime but weaves so many lies to deny it that she can’t keep her story straight.

My heart goes out to Courtney and wishing her justice, but you guys dissecting Lily’s lack of media literacy has also help spread more awareness of her having no authority over anything as well as damaging her views. So while I understand not wanting to talk over or for victims, you’ve all still contributed awareness of how dangerous Lily can still be.

Well if Lily is dumb enough to do a video on Dragon Age you bet I will. But even my audience is losing interest in her, she didn't even come close in my last poll about what they want my next react stream to be.

I had a stream before Lily, it was just on Twitch, and I'm not going to apologize for seizing the opportunity handed to me when I suddenly found myself with a new audience and a new income stream on YouTube.

I've been very transparent from the start that I'm an entertainer first and foremost and ill-equipped to speak in depth on the crimes I believe Lily is guilty of.

But I also can't ignore them. So I keep on her ass with this sideblog full of receipts. I mention the gross shit she's said and done every stream on her. Ant and I have been trying to get YouTube to take her copyright system abuse seriously which could terminate her channel.

But beyond direct legal action all the rest of us can do is keep calling attention to what a degenerate she is, annoy her, point out what a shit content creator she is in the first place, and chip away at her reputation. Sue me that I want to have fun along the way with the skillset I do have.

And not to toot my own horn but she's dropped over 2,000 subs since I came on the scene.

matt is a... nice person. you know this, he knows this. he doesn't get mad too easily, keeping his calm almost all the time when anyone ticks him off. at least, that's what you thought. it never occurred to you how toxic the man was, leaving him after finding girls' contacts on his phone and some of the toxic shit he's done.

but, it always confused you how matt never seemed to care when you officially announced to him you two were done. it was like he just didn't care at all, after it took you so long to muster up the courage to even confront him about it. matt was shrugging and chewing on the toothpick in his mouth, as you huff in frustration and throw a few more curses in his direction.

you eventually got all your stuff and ended up crashing at your friends' house for a little. she was happy to have you anyways, not having seen eachother in awhile as you talked to her for hours about everything. in the end, she wasn't surprised that matt was a douche bag. maybe you aren't exactly surprised either—but he was a good boyfriend... kind of. but, if everything else wasn't good with him, the sex definitely was.

maybe it's why you find yourself outside matt's door. you're upset. pissed off and annoyed. matt always knew how to calm that storm down, and maybe you just needed him without realizing. your first instinct was to just go to him, yet you weren't even sure why. he was an asshole in the relationship.

when you find yourself in his room, matt is rolling his eyes when you start rambling on and on about whatever the fuck. you always talked a shit ton. that never really did change about you—but you looked.. more glowy. like you were doing better. a lot better.

when you kept droning on about something probably about him, matt is just sighing and sliding his hand into your hair. patting your head and then his hand comes up to pat your cheek a few times. "shut up." before his hand slapped your cheek gently—shock forming across your features as the sting starts from the harsh impact. you blink and turn your head to glare at matt, even though it did distract you from everything you were so worried about.

it's why matt has you on your knees between his legs, a hand cradling your face as you whine gently. he knows you. god, he knows you so well that he knows just how to get you to stop yapping your ass off. maybe you needed it too, with how much anxiety had wrapped around your entire body.

"shh, y'got it. doin' real good, baby," matt is cooing at you so gently, you forget that he's your ex. that you probably shouldn't even be here right now, for both of your sakes. but you can't help the way your cheek leans into the palm of his hand, warm and inviting. his eyes glance at your pitiful fucking expression, his free hand slapping you across the face gently.

sometimes, matt doesn't feel like making you suck his dick when you get too pissed off. so, he'll settle on this, or some other tactic to get you to shut your mouth. even after you two have broken off, some things just never change. and, in some way, matt kind of hates how well he knows you as he lands another slap across your pretty lil' face. RANDOM Headcanons: Buying make-up shenanigans

Warnings ⚠ none

Includes: Price, Soap, Ghost, Alejandro, Andre, Konig, Gaz, Horangi, Nikolai

Has "can figure everything out" attitude and confidently enters a store just to get lost in it.

Browses for hours, gets mad when he can't decide, then gets distracted by another item. Rinse and repeat.

The cycle continues until he snatches a sales person, or a manager suspects him of stealing, asks tons of questions, ends up buying himself lipgloss (smells like coconut)

There is just too much stuff in the store, it gets him overwhelmed.

Tries to tactically question you about makeup, gives up and snoops through your bags.

Eventually buys some more "stuff" (gets himself different smelling lipbalms and lipglosses) and gets you something you already have.

Admits what he was doing and drags you back to the store with him.

Bonus: The sales people there are sweating upon his arrival. Even the trainee learnt the makeup brands, just by staying next to Price and listening as he asks his question. And he asks, asks questions - even about the ingredients.

Baby boy loves sparkles and the smell of makeup. The salesmen don't like him that much.

He knows what you like, however he is not permitted to shop alone. Why? His toxic trait is that: he buys in bulk.

You learnt that the hard way, after he came home with 27 eyeshadow pallets.

Expiration dates who?

Has a mascara from 7 years ago. Refuses to throw it away. Only does so, after you show him a documentary about eye infection.

Please take a moment to envision how tall and scary he looks in the makeup aisle, standing behind you like a creepy statue, dull on black, with his balaclava. I just giggled.

Insist on paying for everything ( didn't say anything about Price, because there is no insisting - he just pays. Ghost, at least pretends he will let you pay.)

Despises the blackhead mask. Did it once, regretted his life choices.

Experimenting king.

He is the dude who will visit a store, several times, no matter where he is at and buy whatever is new, shiny and cool.

Loves giving you his makeup finds and watching you apply/wear them.

Plays with your brushes a lot. ( They are just so soft and fluffy)

Bonus: Buys skincare for you and the team. Forces his team in spa day retreats.

Definitely knows what to buy.

He knows your makeup, especially if you live together.

Gets lost in the brushes sections and touches everything fluffy. (Don't let him shop with Soap)

Smells everything and if he wants to try something new, buys whatever smells best.

Compares prices online, if a salesperson is mean to him, buys the cheaper stuff and returns back to the store. (Petty boy)

Prefers more matte and glossy options, rather than sparkles.

You already know imma gonna say it. But if you think people get scared of Ghost in a store, you should see them around König.

Can he wear civilian clothes and no mask. Yes. Does he. Sometimes. If he feels like it.

You reassure every sales person that he is with you and he is no a threat.

König in a makeup store is like a kid around new shiny things. Touches everything.

Wants to buy everything.

"No, I don't need this" and "Put it back" are your go to phrases.

Does not enter tight stores after a shelf incident.

If you shop for hours he may make friends with the staff and even help them with the heavy lifting. (lil show-off 👑)

Gets shifty easily, so you better have Horangi nearby or be located near a food court.

Steals shit. Not because he has to, but because he can.

Definitely goes shopping alone, or uses you as a mule for his stolen goods.

Absolute creature when it comes to makeup sponges. Tiny, squishy and come in different shapes and colors.

Has a collection of them.

Sample king (loves free shit, espcially of expensive products), but has a deep appreciation of the tiny samples. Keeps them as another collection.

Buys whatever the makeup girl tells him to buy.

He will try to figure out your makeup, after trying solo shopping and will buy some stuff. Not incompetent at all.

Hates the stores. Sales people continuously snuck up on him and talk. Nikolai is not a fan.

Sorry, but he has a special place saved for hatred for every store where he has to socialize.

Has enough opinions on products to need any external ones.

Will buy you makeup as a gift, but that's it.

Don't drag him to a store, ever.

Makeup judge. Buys only brands he trusts and ignores the rest.

Goes with you and glares at the sales people, who try to make you buy more products.

Buys his lipbalm at a grocery store to avoid sales pitches.

Huge on skin care and hair products, which he orders online.

Loves when people stare at you at the store, always puts a hand around your waist. "Yup,she is with me" attitude (one of the main reasons on why he shops with you)

Bang Chan Jealousy

SKZ Jealousy series pt. 1: (when they're in a serious relationship do they get jealous at all? What makes them jealous if they get jealous? How do they act in a relationship? What's their response/behavior when jealous? How do they handle it?)

He gets jealous, and he gets very, very jealous. It’s easy for him to get jealous and it’s obvious when he is. I’m also getting he attracts partners who are the types to purposefully get him jealous.

He feels deeply in love and trust is important to him, as well as honesty. And his jealousy is also a pride thing? When he gets jealous he gets annoyed and hurt because then he feels like he simply can’t trust you.

He gets jealous when he feels like other things are being put before him, his partner is too “familiar” with another guy, or he feels like he’s being taken for granted in any way shape or form. Or even if he feels like his partner is feeling bored in the relationship.

He wants to feel needed in his relationships. He wants to be the priority. So if he feels like that’s threatened in any capacity he gets INSANELY jealous. Like even if it’s something like you asking another guy to help you take your groceries inside when you could’ve easily asked him instead.

When he’s jealous it feels like his entire world is knocked of its axis. He’s very off kilter, and feels numb. Jealousy definitely makes him doubt the entire relationship for one reason or another. He feels very very deeply in love, and he loves deeply and fiercely. So if he feels as if you’re doing something that is taking that for granted, or going against your relationship or just things like that, he feels almost betrayed and just very hurt.

He wonders if he was ever even valued by his partner. And he definitely overthinks everything.

He outwardly acts very confident and like there’s no way he’d ever be threatened by this other person or situation. He doesn’t let his jealousy show, and he’s very good at bottling it up and internalizing it. Because he wants to keep the peace and also doesn’t want people to see him threat. He wants to be better than that.

He’ll use his words when jealous. Subtly. Like subtly trying to get his partner away and get the person away from his partner. Even though he’s absolutely livid. When he’s jealous, he’s diplomatic. That Libra influence comes out.

The entire time his mind is racing and scattered. He can’t process anything or form a coherent line of thought. He tries to idealize everything about the situation if it’s clear his jealousy isn’t unfounded, like if his partner is blatantly flirting. But the entire time he’s overthinking every little thing no matter what.

He has to lick his wounds after. Probably wants to fuck it out and show his partner that they’re his partner and he’s better than whatever it is he’s jealous over. And to also show himself he’s still wanted and needed and desired.

It’ll definitely take a bit to get over it. Everything lingers, and that overthinking stays there. He’s on edge after everything and takes a while to ease back into absolutely trusting his partner.

Before he gets back into that trust though he can definitely get…Smother-y. Goes through his partner’s stuff, always checking to make sure they’re not doing anything sketchy, etc. constantly on edge.

If the jealousy keeps happening and happening toxic patterns may start.

Jealousy also arouses him though.

Definitely loves a partner who’s jealous. It turns him on a lot.

If his partner tries to intentionally get him jealous too much it turns him off the relationship.

Too much jealousy can easily make the entire relationship fail, and can chip away at his feelings for a person. It’s probably how quite a number of his relationships ended, really.

He’s also very impulsive when he’s jealous. Once he gets past that diplomatic phase, or it’s something too extreme for it to even kick in for. He acts quick and honestly may sock somebody.

He also feels very hopeless when he’s jealous. He doesn’t enjoy jealousy at all. But it’s a deeply ingrained part of him that he can’t really control.

His jealousy is very catastrophic.

He definitely fights people. Definitely. He gets punchy when they get touchy. Words are responded to with words, touches are responded to with touches. It’s simple, really. And he can definitely hold his own and stand his ground in a fight. Have you seen those muscles? Lethal.

But all things considered his friendships and family members definitely help him overcome a lot of the fallout from his jealousy.

That too, yeah. Her treatment of the Wards during the timeskip, while we only get bits of it, was not great. She overworks them in presumably more raids against the city’s villains and training for the end of the world, sacrificing some of their civilian life in the process (highlighted by Cuff’s breakup mentioned in 26b). She goes against orders and puts her team in very dangerous fights, and probably not all of them went as well as the one with Topsy and Watch (we don’t know the specifics of the fight with Deathadder, but whatever happened is something that put Grace further at odds with Weaver).

Not to mention the S9000 fight, where a lot of them almost died (or actually died? Still unclear what happened to Wanton here but he’s never mentioned after his breaker state was “stopped”) and she still wanted them on the front lines.

Girl what do you mean “stay and keep doing this” those are not walk it off injuries 😭

Granted, Weaver never asks them to do things she wouldn’t, or hasn’t already done. She’s sacrificed Taylor Hebert as a person, left her closest friends behind, fought way above her weight class and almost died for it several times. But I don’t think she fully understood how hard some of the stuff she’s done actually is. People meme the Scapegoat dialogue in Arc 19 but like girl really does have a very skewed sense of what a person can take both physically and mentally.

Despite all of this, as you said, they still tried to bond with her, be her friends and teammates. Even with all the chafing, 2 years of fighting alongside each other still formed that camaraderie they felt mattered.

And then on her birthday, she immediately goes to visit the Undersiders without saying so much as a word to them before the flight.

Her treatment of the Chicago Wards is something she specifically highlights as regretting shortly after Gold Morning begins. I think her time as Weaver is something she regrets as a whole, a mostly toxic period that neither her nor her team could look back on positively because the end of the world still happened and all that sacrifice wasn’t worth it. And even though she wishes she treated her team better, she still distanced herself from them because it was too late to really try and mend things, not with everything else going on.

Maybe if Gold Morning had played out differently, and Taylor had managed to stay around, she could’ve made that effort to at least end things off on a better note with the team. Maybe they still could’ve managed to be friends. Or not. But things didn’t work out that way.

“I know,” Grace said, after a pause. “I get that. I get that there’s other reasons. Like the fact that you love those guys and you never loved us. Cool. Makes sense.”

“I liked you guys.”

“But you didn’t love us.”

Girl did NOT Cut Ties, I’m Sorry

This line was an interesting one, perhaps not with as much impact as it could’ve had due to the awkward timeskip, though it still works out in that way. Taylor’s just as disconnected from the Chicago Wards as the readers are, the time going by in a blur of Endbringer fights and preparations to stop the end of the world. Despite 2 years with this team, and while she does work with them and grows some level of bond with them over that time, she chose to spend her final birthday with the Undersiders. When she looked for anchors as she lost her mind, she didn’t choose any of the Wards, instead the members of the team she’d been with for an eighth of the time. But that time was before she’d thrown herself into stopping the end of the world, at a time where she hadn’t been as closed off and focused on the mission.

If she’d ended up on this team earlier in her life, or somehow gotten here without the looming threat of Gold Morning, would she have become as close or closer to them than the Undersiders? Or was what she had with the Undersiders more special than anything that could’ve come after, a bond formed when she was at her loneliest, and helped her grow into a person she was happy being?

Also, after scouring the various fanfic sites for Chicago Wards content, I wonder if this line is the reason the most popular pairing for Weaver among the Chicago Wards is Grace (with, like, 2 fics, but for the single digit number of fics this team has that’s a lot). The scene as a whole does kinda have breakup vibes ig, which makes the awkward pause in Imp, Tecton, and Rachel’s trolling scheme funnier xD

I remember Hal telling Wally to get his ass up and start running for Barry during that event but was there another event where he tried to bring him back? Was it during his parallax arc (can't remember the issue). Anyway, I wanna believe that they just thought Barry was truly dead that's why they didn't look for him but yeah his family can be quite insensitive to his feelings. He returned a little bit suicidal but everyone just went yay! and didn't bother checking his mental health :(

It is during Hal's Parallax arc indeed. Bringing back dead people was one of Hal's point during that time, and he would have managed if he hadn't been stopped.

But see, Barry's family had moved on. After he got back, he didn't have a place where he fit anymore. The stories that go from the Rebirth Mini to Flashpoint are centered around this dynamic; how Barry was put on a pedestal and idolized like a hero, but then no one knew what to do with the actual real person when he was physically brought back.

And Barry himself knew this. He knew no one was looking for him, he openly admits to being aware that Iris had moved on, that Wally had forged his identity as the Flash and was now comfortably filling Barry's shoes. He hadn't raised his children or his nephew, hadn't met Wally's kids. Everyone else was painfully aware of this too, and indeed after being back Barry didn't manage to find a way to slot himself in any comfortable space - to the point where in his crippling loneliness, he ends up going back in time to try and save his mother in the attempt to have back the one person he knew would have accepted and loved him unconditionally.

There's a reason why he did not want to come back after all. Eobard had to pull him out of the Speed Force (and I quote) "kicking and screaming", because Barry subconsciously knew there was no place for him anymore. Which is so fucking sad by the way.

There's a whole comic in which Iris stages an "intervention" with the pretense of an emergency happening, in which she, Wally, Jay and Bart chide Barry one after another about how he isn't the person they used to idolize anymore, and how dare he be not 100% all the time, how dare Barry Allen of all people feel down and make mistakes and need time for himself. He gets pushed in a figurative corner and called selfish, shamed by the people who should be there for him regardless of the circumstances, because he dares not be the perfect person they remembered him to be. I don't have the spoons to look for the panels right now, but if you want to check you'll find them in The Road To Flashpoint, Part 3.

Keep in mind that when Barry came back, his life story had been dramatically altered. He used to be bubbly, extroverted, good at sports, good at dancing, very confident and with a ton of friends. But then he comes back and he's an orphan, he grew up isolated and riddled with insecurities, and very deeply traumatized by his mother's violent death and his father's unjust imprisonment. He very much WAS NOT the person everyone remembered anymore, but this was impossible to accept for anyone, and the result was a "came back wrong" situation which has been spiraling down since then.

The "flashfamily" isn't all sunshine and rainbows. There are toxic dynamics going on and at this point Barry is everyone's elected scapegoat. Wally very much knew that Barry was alive in the Speed Force anyway, because for one, Barry had manifested via a thunderstrike to save Wally's ass that one time he decided to go after Eobard, and secondly because Wally knows better than anyone else that Barry IS the Speed Force. He was the first one who found out. He knew VERY WELL that Barry was in there.

There is something so concerning about them being convinced Millie hates Noah… like just imagine, he’ll very likely be in her wedding (something she herself has talked about him being a part of, less than a year ago and before she even got engaged) and watch them try to gaslight themselves into thinking he forced her to do it or something 😭

Millie and Noah are probably the closest cast-members coming out of ST (besides maybe like Charlie and Natalia).

Tbh I don’t even care about fictional ships when it comes to this level of delusion. Like just seeing them be so completely outside of reality, that they are so threatened over a fictional ship they have to make up their own version of reality where Millie hates Noah in order to subscribe to all the stuff they want to believe?

Anyways when s5 promo rolls out and then drops and Millie and Noah are having the time of their lives in interviews and bts being their usual bff selves, milkvans will be spiraling enough as it is, only for byler endgame to come in and really fuck it all up 😭

But yeah, on a serious note. It was quite frustrating to find out the real motivation under all that... mess was something so pathetic, but at the same time this is what happens when people make engagement with media and fandoms a moral, political act. Not necessarily a problem, after all, I was the one who concluded that the way a fan judges fictional characters and other fans will very well reveal how cruel they are to real people who do something bad, or how much they will forgive based on personal sympathies. And my mad ravings about caring about female characters! I think the problem comes when a fan is so insecure that they have nothing else besides this defence of ideals through fandomry. If your only way to assert yourself is to be a good guy punishing the bad guys, and that mad raving loredigger discovers there is NO bad guy, what is left of you?

This is why it is crucial to have passion for nurturing rather than for undermining! I think if you speak like this, you've found this truth too? This is true that I don't know you very much (mutual-in-law thing), but to be honest.. you didn't poison my fandom experience at all? I tend to never be aware about discourse until someone basically calls me for help fhdhgsdgdfs Can't scout the fandom tag regularly!

But not only it actually was a quite long ago I saw a "negative" post from you, but also I've seen through the posts that my friends liked or reblogged from you that you've actually became very eager person to defend people's passion and interests! I think the post that particularly got stuck with me was when you resented seeing someone's light die after some Redditor asshole "well aktualy"'d a thing they were excited about creating (not exact wording but maybe you remember too)? Like... you are fine, man. At that point I realised that you were a good fan and in the end valued people's creativity and passion over personal preferences. That you never wanted to be THAT guy, even if your interpretation could not be further from someone else's. Coming to terms with what actually matters in fandomry is very mature and I am happy to see this attitude!

I am still glad that you messaged me about this though; I did not expect this, but thank you! I think I will continue getting involved in fictional discourse because my autistic senses cannot ignore factually incorrect takes with a clear insidious motive, and.. eh, sooner or later, I'll piss off the wrong guy again.
