Thanks for the answer, it really helped! We have since then moved on to debate whether WWX's cultivation harmed and impacted him and how he couldn't control it because of it.

(I disagree, personally, as that is what the public is trying to claim without even understanding how WWX's ghost path works, or how any form of cultivation works. I am of the mind that nobody can use any kind of cultivation safely and in a controlled manner while being pushed to the brink as often as WWX was during that period of his life.)

Frankly, it is pretty entertaining, tho I can't say it's a riveting conversation either. Their answer to me saying that the title of the novel was a dig to WWX's cultivation path that actually subvert the trope of demonic cultivation in xianxia novels was : "No, it is because of how he had good intentions and tried to protect everyone by using bad means to achieve goodness,tho in the end, he did more bad things than good ones." And I am just sitting there, losing braincells, wondering what the heck they are talking about.

Still better than the "Both LWJ and JC spent years looking for WWX's soul after his death, LWJ literally played music everyday to call his soul to him 🙄" thing. Why do I see this so often? Like, did it happen in the book? Am I losing my mind? Genuine question here, I feel like I am losing my mind T^T.

I think that particular fanon originated from a popular fandom blogger—and is usually paired with the headcanon that Lan Wangji only went where the chaos was to “chase Wei Wuxian’s spirit”—but I think I also heard it might have been written into some of the adaptations? (Idk about that second one because I’ve only ever completed the book.) Lan Wangji is said to have “gone where the chaos is” during the war, hence his title being given then, and the Lotus Pod Seeds extra seems to imply that this behavior was inspired by his first solo journey out of The Cloud Recesses to pursue lotus pod seeds upon Wei Wuxian’s suggestion during The Cloud Recesses arc. Nowhere in the book does it say that Lan Wangji played music to calm or call Wei Wuxian’s soul. The only place in the novel where it is ever mentioned that music was played in an attempt to call forth his soul is when the sects gathered together after the first siege of the Burial Mounds and were unsuccessful in their attempt. Lan Wangji was not present for this.

As for whether Wei Wuxian’s cultivation physically harms him or not: if the ghost path was harmful to the body, then 1) Lan Wangji would reject its use and 2) Wei Wuxian would limit his use of it and refuse to showcase it to others. For the first part: while Lan Wangji had many objections to the use of the ghost path during the war, he curbs those objections at the end of Wei Wuxian’s first life and actively supports his usage of it through actions in Wei Wuxian’s second life. For the second part: Wei Wuxian uses the ghost path in his second life throughout the entire main story and continuing into the extras. He completely forgoes using a sword as his main weapon of choice. He even displays his techniques to the juniors and explains how they work, but he begins to curb some of his usage with them to give them a chance to solve nighthunts on their own instead of relying on him to solve issues for them.

The first part of the plan is the most distateful to him, he doesn't actual dislike Jin Zixuan, but if it's to work JGS needs to be without a viable heir and needs to have a visible reason to hate the Wen.

So on his way back to the Lanling after having escape the xuanwu cave, JZX dies in an ambush. Getting hold of Wen arrows had been easy.

Then it's a case of just not letting NMJ see him kill the Nie sect general - they are plenty of other ways to die in war - he'd been too hasty the first time. He can still go undercover, this time it is with NMJ & LXC knowledge.

He doesn't really care if NMJ likes him or hates him afterwards. Too many hurtful things had been said in the original timeline for that - and JGY doesn't give people second chances.

So the sunshot campaign plays out as before. JGY has no interest in saving lotus pier or WWX.

Losing JZX has done little to change JGS and JGY knows that his father has to die next. He has to die before he can arrange the wedding with Qin Su.

After all Yunmeng Jiang was suppose to tie itself by marriage to Lanling Jin. Jiang Yanli was a good woman, and most of all not JGS child. If JGS has tried anything with YZY he'd have been dead years ago.

So they marry, it's not the wedding JYL wanted, but in the wake of the war, Yunmeng Jiang needs the support of Lanling Jin.

All he needs to do with WWX is stop him becoming involved with the remaining members of the Wen sect - If Wen Qing hadn't asked WWX for help, if he hadn't owed he so very much, he would have remained at lotus pier, drinking and slowly succumbing to his lack of golden core and use unorthodox cultivation in it's place.

JGY strikes a bargin with WQ, she'll work for him in exchange for WN's safety, in return he'll get rid of JGS and improve how the other Wen are treated. Her other choice, he says is for both her and WN to die right now. She accepts, for WN, she can endure almost anything.

JGY accepts the brotherhood with NMJ and LXC, because more than anyone, the one is his heart is still LXC. He doesn't alter the music - NMJ is going to die anyway, let is be slow and painful into madness - let NHS witness those hard awful years seeing his brother become a stranger to him, that is punishment enough.

JGS dies the same death as before - there was a poetic justice to it that JGY feels too fitting to change.

okay so. I am a smart adult with many important responsibilities. I have good taste and care about things that matter. for this reason, I’ve been trying to identify where in cql canon wangxian manage to fuck.

because they definitely do; I like a good post-canon getting together fic as much as the next guy, but it’s just not realistic.

allow them. it’s already been so long.

right. so initially it looks like you could place this right after the time skip in episode 33, because it shows us that wwx is with lwj in cloud recesses. we know that he spent the night in the jingshi because he wakes up there the next morning before he goes for a nostalgic tour of his old school.

and also visits the cold spring, where lwj is mostly naked. nice.

but wait! wwx is surprised by the scars on his back and chest. that seems like something he would have known about if they’d already been naked together the night before, so I’m going to say they did not fuck immediately upon wwx’s return to cloud recesses. okay, fine, they’re taking things slow, that’s cool.

maybe they could work it into the next night, then. oh wait, lqr is injured and... staying in the jingshi? for reasons?

I don’t know why. he must have his own house in cloud recesses, and it’s probably at least as comfortable as lwj’s, but here he is. he lives to stop his nephew from getting laid, I guess.

the next day they do some Q&A with the kids and determine that they need to head to qinghe to figure out what’s going on with this sword thing. great! we love a romantic road trip, plenty of alone time. but they also have to do their jobs, and then jin ling needs to get rescued from a wall of dirt, and jc is unfortunately there being himself, and then they have to grill nhs about his tomb full of angry sabers, etc. etc.

with all that going on, their next obvious chance is at the inn immediately after interviewing nhs. this evening has already included:

wwx gazing lovingly at lwj from afar

lwj carrying wwx on his back

lwj pawing at wwx’s robes trying to deal with his cursed leg

lwj helping wwx up the stairs, serving him wine, fixing his flute, and generally being at his beck and call

a very sexy and homoerotic duet

and now they’re alone and drooling over each other as usual. this seems like a plausible spot, right?

it does! but no. after they go back to the nie basement o’ swords and hear the backstory on nmj’s death, we see them walking in yueyang and lwj asks wwx how the curse mark on his leg is doing. wwx says it’s almost healed, which may or may not be a lie, but his inner monologue says:

he’s more concerned about the wound on his arm from the sacrificing curse, which lwj doesn’t know about, because wwx won’t tell him and they still haven’t been naked together.

also, this silly teenage shit doesn’t make much sense unless they’re still dancing around each other.

you guys love the sound of opportunities as they go flying past, don’t you?

right after this, lwj gets drunk. I’m aware that Stuff Happens in the novel scene that inspired this bit, and they do incorporate some of that into the show by having lwj commit petty larceny and admit that he “likes rabbits” as part of the softest and most loving conversation in human history oh my god

but lwj goes to sleep right on time, and the next morning, wwx is laughing and reassuring him that nothing happened.

after this, it’s time to go on a fucked up field trip with the kids in yi city, so they don’t really have any time alone for a few episodes until they’ve finished that and everyone is back at yet another inn. I wonder if they learned something about wasted chances and poor communication from this miserable songxiao story?

maybe! look, they’re being cute and domestic. there are currently no material barriers preventing them from having sex, nor will there be any specific evidence later on proving that they didn’t.

but they’re still firmly in mystery-solving mode and the juniors and lxc are floating around. the vibe isn’t quite there. if I were to pick the most solid reason why I think they’re saving room for jesus at this point, it would be the tension that happens when wwx again asks how lwj recognized him. lwj asks why his memory is so bad, and wwx replies that he wishes he had a bad memory. even though they’re comfortable and happy being together, there’s still some fundamental distance remaining. there’s no sense of romantic resolution. that was actually a point against all their previous opportunities as well; they’re all very sweet, but none of these feel like the place in a story where the romantic leads Officially Get Together.

okay, off to koi tower! shit is getting extremely real. everyone’s busy insinuating that they recognize wwx, but no one is saying it explicitly. wwx isn’t supposed to be here. the guy he’s pretending to be also isn’t supposed to be here. he and his boyfriend and his boyfriend’s brother are trying to figure out if his boyfriend’s brother’s boyfriend is a murderer. no one is comfortable and the political intrigue leaves no time for fucking in front of anyone’s salad.

I guess there’s plenty of time to make dozens of armed guards and like half the people they know wait while they have a romantic moment, though.

could they be more in love? And that sure feels like a romantic resolution that might be followed by narratively-earned sex.

ah. no, unfortunately wwx gets stabbed again. this certainly sucks, but it does have the helpful consequence of making lwj take him back to cloud recesses, where they are mostly alone and as safe as they can be in the circumstances. now there’s even more tenderness and also some plot-justified touching and skin exposure. plus, lwj just made a very public declaration of love.

too bad wwx has probably been unconscious since he started coughing up blood in the forest near lanling. he’s also still visibly in pain. fresh abdominal wounds tend to kill the mood.

but hey, the injuries on this show are only as serious as they need to be to move the plot forward and facilitate gentle h/c scenes, so by evening he’s looking perfectly healthy and walking around under his own steam like nothing’s wrong. I guess that problem can be ignored moving forward.

lxc then offers the the most devastating highlights of lwj’s backstory, like, all at once. it’s nice that he includes a flute solo to give wwx a second to process this mountain of terrible information. what the fuck.

there he is! the most devoted man in the whole world! turns out they can actually be more in love after all.

and then the following scene... look, I’m lazy and I don’t know how to make gifs, but screenshots cannot properly convey how good it is. you all know. the hesitant way wwx approaches, the slow and gentle piano version of wangxian, the two of them watching the snow together, it’s. ugh.

remember how I was talking about how the last scene with no material barriers was an unlikely candidate because of the lack of romantic resolution?

well, here’s wwx still being cagey at the beginning of this conversation.

and here they are in the middle of this conversation, having some epiphanies about the course of wwx’s life - I love this shot for a lot of reasons, but I extra love it because it shows wwx out in the snow, with lwj as the safety and warmth waiting behind him, god this show goes hard, holy shit

they both recall their vow to live with a clean conscience and internally say some very corny things about each other because they are both So Much, and then,

ah, what the hell. he can say it out loud after all. romantic resolution accomplished.

and then the camera slowly pulls away as wuji plays.

a slow zoom out? swelling music? listen, I am a connoisseur, I know a tasteful fade-to-black indicating a sex scene that won’t happen on camera when I see one. at last, we have a winner!

now you may think this post is finally over, but I actually have one more piece of evidence for you - the next scene shows the two of them the morning after, meditating behind a screen in the hanshi while lxc is waiting for jgy to show up.

before wwx got de-cored, he was a pretty powerful cultivator, right? the chances that he’s just bad at meditating or that he can’t stay focused on this task seem slim to me. so why does he keep falling asleep?

well. he had kind of a late night.

Divorce au where LSZ initially sided w the Lans, but then he got to experience the Lan environment w/o wwx shielding him from it.

The Lans aren't bad, but they're fit for exactly one type of behavior. The quiet, polite, rule obeying one. The one LSZ could fake for an evening, not for a life

LWJ doesn't see anything wrong with it, why would he. LQR wants to beat the corruption out of him.

LSZ runs.

He lives on the streets for a while, looking for his father.

Wwx finds him one night and bears no resentment. LSZ lives with his father and the Wens and starts to untangle the emotional mess that is.

And then LWJ starts looking for them

(I really cant remember how old LSZ is when the divorce happened in this version of the au, so let's go with young child)

The changes start immediately. Childcare was always a job Wei Wuxian had insisted he take the majority of. He would make jokes about being a stay at home mom. Lan Wangji doesnt know the routine he had established with their son so he falls back onto his own childhood as guidance.

Lan Yuan is woken up so early that the sun hadn't even risen. He is not woken up by his Baba's loud singing and tickling, but by his father shaking his shoulder and telling him to wake up. Breakfast is not the pancakes and fruit shaped like butterflies and bunnies and Mickey Mouse, but a plain bowl of congee that he hardly eats. Instead of his Baba driving him to elementary school while playing music and chattering about his lessons and friends he is taken by one of the Lan families drivers- a man who Yuan doesn't know and is silent the entire drive.

These things, while minor, are upsetting to Lan Yuan. It just gets worse when school ends and instead of being taken home the driver takes him to his Grand Uncle's house. Grand Uncle does not look happy to see him. He doesn't smile or hug him or ask about how his day at school went. He has a lot of rules that Lan Yuan doesn't know and he yells at him when he breaks them.

He doesn't like going to Grand Uncles house and he tells Father this when he comes to pick him up in the evening. He asks his father when Baba was coming back and doesn't get an answer.

Even though he told Father that he doesn't like going to Grand Uncles, he is taken there everyday after school. It doesn't take long for him to burst into tears and cry that he wants his Baba. That makes Grand Uncle angry.

He cries when his father comes to pick him up and tells him that Grand Uncle hurt him. Baba always told him that he needs to tell one of them if someone hurts him so they know who to protect him from. He expects his father to protect him from Grand Uncle. His heart breaks when Father tells him that he needs to follow the rules Grand Uncle has and it won't happen again. The fit he throws at that is unlike any he had ever thrown before. He cries and screams that he wants his baba. He gets sent to his room until he calms down.

For the next week he does nothing but ask for his Baba. He asks Ftaher where Baba is, if he can go visit him, if he can call him, anything. Father tells him they cannot. One day when Father leaves his phone unlocked and leaves to use the restroom, Yuan steals it. He goes through the contacts on Father's phone calling them one by one hoping that one of them will be his Baba, but Father finds him before he can find him. He is scolded and sent to his room without dinner.

After almost two months, Lan Yuan has enough. He cries every day for his Baba and Grand Uncles punishments have just gotten worse and worse and Father doesn't stop them. When the driver drops him off at school he runs away.

Restless Rewatch: The Untamed, Episode 23, second part

Nature Abhors a (Power) Vacuum

Jin Guangshan, Nie Mingjue, and Lan Xichen have gathered to decide what to do about the remaining Wen people and also what to do about the Yin metal. They have not invited Jiang Cheng to this discussion, or blowhard Clan Leader Yao, despite those clans having been hit particularly hard by the Wens in the course of the war. 

The three of them have a conversation about what to do with the Wen captives, showing their different attitudes towards killing.

Jin Guangshan: Killing is awesome, particularly in project management. It's just so efficient. Nie Mingjue: Killing is necessary, and a little bit fun, too. Lan Xichen: Killing is necessary, sadly, but we can randomly spare some women or old people, as a token sign that we’re not monsters. Kind of like when you have a fancy dinner and include a tofu dish for the vegetarians. Nie Mingjue: Nobody likes tofu, Xichen.

Jin Guangshan says he's looking for the Yin Iron and that they can't let any Wens or "ambitious people" get a hold of it. By ambitious people he means Wei Wuxian, not himself and his murder kid. Lan Xichen realizes this right away but doesn't, you know, do anything to contradict him.  Jin Guangshan says he's asked "A-Yao" to look into it. Which is smart, because A-Yao is already in cahoots with Xue Yang, who actually has the piece of Yin Iron they're looking for.

Getting Jiggy With It

Then Jin Guangshan introduces Meng Yao, now renamed Jin Guangyao, in a weird twist on generation names. He has given him the name of a sibling or cousin of his own generation (starting with Guang), rather than a name of the next generation (starting with Zi). JGS says that JGY just recently learned about about being related to him, although we know perfectly well that's not true. 

And they both talk like he appreciates JGY's efficiency and helpfulness, but that's not why JGS has him at his side. He has taken him in because he is a steel-eyed murder bot, not in spite of it. 

(OP does not believe that Jin Guangyao could have been a good person if only his dad had let him hold Jin Ling that one time, as some have argued. Dude killed his own child because there was a chance he might be disabled in a way that could lead to gossip. Dude is a stone cold killer.)

In the language of CDrama costume (which is not, precisely, the language of actual historical clothing), Jin Guangyao has chosen to dress as a minister instead of as a chevalier. This is partly an artifact of his mother's ideas about a gentleman. It also suggests that he’s content with the sort of career that's available to a bastard of a noble house--not inheriting the noble title, but having enough favor to rise in power. 

It may also be a ruse to make him seem like he's not a strong cultivator and not a strong fighter, when in fact he is both, at least by the time he’s throwing death chords at Jiang Cheng, much later in the show. 

Mingjue makes all kinds of grumpy faces and snarky remarks to let everyone know that he fucking hates Jin Guangyao.  Xichen agrees to his “nice refugee camp with only a little death” plan, with no qualifications.

Now we get to see Jin Guangyao's manipulation of Lan Xichen. Lan Xichen says that Nie Mingjue wants a plan that’s more killy, because he believes in punishing evil. JGY deliberately misunderstands this, pretending that Lan Xichen said he, JGY, is evil, kind of forcing LXC to reassure him and take his side in an argument that isn’t actually happening. 

They have a little handholding while bowing, and then after Lan Xichen leaves, Jin Guangyao puts on his evil face and has all the prisoners killed behind the big closed door.  

This is done in such a violent fashion that the blood apparently flows up several stairs to the door, and over the tall raised threshold, before flowing downward toward the camera. Some evil is so extreme that even traditional Chinese doorway architecture can’t stop it.

Run To the Rock

Then we go outside to where Wei Wuxian is standing on a rocky outcropping, thinking it would be a good strategic spot to choose if he's ever in a battle where he wants to commit suicide right quick.

Lan Wangji comes to join him and admire the view, not knowing yet that this view, or one a whole lot like it, is going to be seared into his memory for most of his life.

Lan Wangji is becoming more and more committed to Wei Wuxian, more and more inexorably joined to him, but he still doesn't agree with him. So they each have this comfort in each others' presence at the same time as being massively in conflict.

Wei Wuxian asks him what he thinks of all the politicking and murdering. Who is good and who is evil? LWJ doesn't answer because WWX is leaking black smoke, so he grabs him and tells him to concentrate.  Lan Wangji is, incidentally, wearing Princess-Leia quantities of lip gloss.

Lan Wangji asks if Wei Wuxian would like to learn a new tune, "Absterge" according to Netflix. The fuck? [op looks it up in the dictionary]. "To cleanse, especially by wiping." Also known as aftercare. Netflix. Honey. This word is MIDDLE FRENCH. Will you knock it the fuck off?

So anyway, instead of answering his question about who is good and who is evil, LWJ asks if he wants to learn a song called "Cleansing." Wei Wuxian says “hey babe, are you fucking kidding me?” 

His actual words are "you doubt me too?" meaning "you think I also took the missing 4th chunk of Yin iron to make my ugly tiger amulet, rather than obviously having used that giant sword I pulled out of the turtle?"  

Lan Wangji mentally replays Wen Ruohan's questions in his head--the questions he barked at Wei Wuxian right before choking him unconscious--which Lan Wangji also feels entitled to know the answers to. Fuck you, Lan Wangji. He answers WWX with "when did you forge your amulet?" Which is his way of saying "yes, I doubt you."

Wei Wuxian kindly refrains from saying "while we were on a break, bitch" and instead tells him the exact truth--I found a yin iron sword in the turtle--but says it in his patented "make it sound like a lie" way. 

LWJ keeps grilling him, eventually coming out and saying dude, you knew the sword was Yin iron, why did you need to use it?

This is the crucial question--why WWX broke his first promise, to Lan Yi, which was to try to get rid of the Yin Iron. He won’t tell anyone the answer, which is that he needs to use it because he can't cultivate normally, because he lost his golden core. He made a lot of promises before that happened, and he probably expected to keep them. But without his core, everything changed; without his core, he’s a different person, so it’s maybe not fair to expect him to honor his previous promises. 

I’m reminded of my grandfather, who was the oldest son of an old southern US family, with lots of expectations as the firstborn. He went off to WWI as a soldier, expecting to die. He didn’t die, and so from that point on, he regarded his life as a gift. He felt could do whatever he wanted with it, and let go of expectations from before the war. He moved to Paris and took up with a glamorous divorcee 7 years older than him (my Grandma, eventually). 

The actual point of that story, other than OP having cool grandparents, is that when you think you’re going to die, and then you don’t die, your ideas about what you owe to people can change quite a bit. Wei Wuxian expected to die in the Burial Mounds; he expected to die at Nightless City; he expects it, over and over, and each time he doesn’t die, he gets further and further from being what everyone else wants him to be. And--a lot like soldiers returning from a war-- NOBODY in his life knows how to talk to him about it. 

Wei Wuxian tells Lan Wangji to back off, Lan Wangji says why aren't you letting me help you, and they are once again on the edge of the same fight they keep having. Lan Wangji does some impassioned arm holding while Wei Wuxian says he's not like Wen Ruohan. 

Romantic Duet #1

The argument is interrupted by screams and killing, so they go to check it out, and find the Jins hunting down some prisoners for sport. They arrive in time to save two people. Yay?

Jin ZIxun acts like a jerk, as always. The new element is that per Jin Guangshan, anyone concerned with Yin Iron shouldn't be alive.  He says that the Lan and Nie clans agreed, and challenges Wei Wuxian. Lan Wangji stops him from responding, grabbing his wrist.

The Jins leave and Wei Wuxian refers back to their earlier conversation, saying there will be more resentful spirits now and that "Rest" is the music to play, not "Cleansing."

He gives Lan Wangji a long look and then pointedly removes Lan Wangji’s hand from his wrist, by holding his hand, which is some next-level mixed signaling. Lan Wangji totally deserves it at this point, though. He keeps pushing and pushing WWX about his cultivation method, but he refuses to discuss the underlying morality of it, or the morality of the killing going on right in front of them. 

WWX walks off, leaving LWJ to stew in his own juices surrounded by a bunch of fresh corpses. 

Lan Wangji fails his saving throw against the guilt trip, and sits his ass down to play Rest, just like Wei Ying told him to. So switchy!  Wei Wuxian, out of sight but not out of earshot, hears him and accompanies him on Chenqing.

This scene is slightly ridiculous and a whole lot sublime. Ridiculous because it's their first time playing music together, so it's a super slow, romantic, extended scene, but they're surrounded by corpses. And not the helpful, friendly, third-wheel-on-a-date type of corpses.

It's sublime because the occasion of their first beautiful, literally magical duet is an argument. And they are joining together to play beautiful romantic music - as a service for the dead. And they are doing it while they are on literally opposite sides of a literal killing field. And Lan Wangji is sitting literally in the middle of a wide open road; the sort of road that they will both reject, metaphorically, later in the show. There is so much about their conflict and their journey that is encapsulated in this one musical moment.

Lan Wangji, by playing the song Wei Wuxian said was needed, is telling WWX that he took his words to heart, that he is listening, even though they're at odds.

WWX, by stopping and playing with him, is acknowledging this. And by settling the dead souls together, they are both reinforcing their dedication to doing what's right even as they both struggle with knowing what that is.

When Other Friendships Have Been Forgot, Ours Will Still Be Hot

Now we have the sworn brothers thing. I understand, plot wise, why this has to happen, but why would Nie Mingjue ever agree to this? Lan Xichen's puppy eyes are just that persuasive?

Tedious Party Time

Now there's a cultivation party, which is about as excruciating to watch as it would be to attend.

Everyone is lining up to praise Jin Guangshan. To be fair, he did provide shelter for most of the smaller clans while the war was going on. So being grateful is appropriate, but Clan Leader Yao practically breaks his own neck kissing Jin ass. Yao says JGY’s contribution was the greatest of the war, adding, "fuck Wei Wuxian; everything is his fault."

The Jiangs show up wearing mourning belts that show off their itty bitty waists, and Jin Guangshan makes shifty eyes like a cartoon landlord when he sees them arrive.

JGS praises Jiang Cheng, and asks when his fancy clan-leader ceremony is going to happen. Jiang Cheng says he's still in mourning so it's not appropriate. JGS is like “Oh...yeah," as if he totally forgot about all the Yunmeng slaughter, and talks up his friendship with Jiang Fengmian. He acts comforting while WWX manages not to barf.

Then the Lan clan shows up and there is nice encouraging chit chat between LXC and JC...

...and just, SO MUCH mournful staring between Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian.

Then the Nies arrive.  Jin Guangshan tells Nie Mingjue he's late, and that everyone's waiting for him. That might be true in the script but it’s clearly bullshit on the screen, where the Lans and the Jiangs are still milling around looking for the coat room.

Nie Mingjue--who, let's remember, JUST swore to be brothers with Jin Guangyao--looks at him like he's something that fell off a garbage truck.  Lan Xichen jumps in to maximize the discomfort by pointing out that Jin Guangyao should address Nie Mingjue as Big Daddy Da-ge from now on.

Then the Jins offer Nie Mingjue the giant fire throne because...he's the leader of the Sunshot campaign, I guess? Of course it's all a manipulation tactic, designed to make him say he won't sit there, so that JGS can elevate himself to head cultivator, or something? And sit in front of the throne but not on it? Cultivator succession seems kinda arbitrary. 

I swear to god, it wasn't until I was clipping this episode that I realized Wen Ruohan had two thrones and they're in different rooms from each other.

Finally everyone goes to sit down, but because there hasn't been enough fucking awkwardness, JGY stops WWX to ask him what's on his mind. WWX asks him why he's not carrying his sword, which made me laugh and laugh. Wei Wuxian must have been just waiting for a chance to ask someone else that question for a change. 

Jin Guangyao says he threw it away, because it was just a random sword, but he really means he had it made into a sneaky murder belt, that he will be using again in 13 to 16 years. They both fake-laugh and trade Mean Girls insults pretend to like each other. 

Everyone wanders around toasting each other. Lan Wangji goes to find Wei Wuxian, after first making sure that his hair looks good.  

Wei Wuxian is lying around on the steps, sprawling and drinking wine, and not, incidentally, looking for Lan Wangji. He continues to not seek him out and Lan Wangji continues to chase after him.

Wei Wuxian says "how about playing Cleansing?" but Lan Wangji says he's learning a new score. It looks like it's going to be another argument, but then Wei Wuxian smiles and kind of praises Lan Wangji for being stubborn. 

Awkward Marriage Proposal

Just then everyone inside starts cheering for Jin Guangshan to give a speech. Jin Guangshan is making a move to marry Jiang Yanli to his son, which is a big time power grab, given that the Jiang Clan is 1. vulnerable and depleted 2. has control of the Yin tiger amulet.

We get a very rare glimpse into Jiang Cheng’s inner mind, where he thinks that saying yes isn’t a great idea, but isn’t sure what to do. This marriage would make his sister happy, but could destroy the Jiang Clan's independence.

Fortunately, Wei Wuxian joins the party just in time to fuck up Jin Guanshan’s plans. Will this teach Jin Guangshan not to invite Wei Wuxian to parties? It will not.

The happenings and goings in YMW Sect:

No one is getting whipped in this household or so help Wei-zongzhu.

Disciples choose which cultivation they would like to excel in besides the sword/jian. Medicine, music, theoretical (which leads to experimenting/inventing) or a combination of all. No disciple will be forced to learn what they don't want to learn.

Friendly competitions over who gets to sit beside WX at dinner. A-Yuan doesn't participate because it's his god given right as first child/radish/sapling/duckling. But don't worry, there are two sides of the dining hall so there's still one spot left. Little do they know is that it's reserved for either WQ/WN cos of rank but the Wei sibs don't sit on that spot anyway as good sports.

The biggest room in LP is WX's. Official reason is they need space for their huge bed for their everyday wink wonk (which is true). Unofficial reason is because LWJ has a lot of shelves. It's filled with boxes where each one has an engraved name and birthdate and sorted by arrival in the sect. There LWJ keeps the mementos/trinkets they received from the children. It doesn't matter if he's A-die/Baba/Fuqin/Shizun/Shifu/Laoshi/Hanguang-jun, every child has a box. WWX teases him for it but he likes looking at the contents from time to time.

YMW sort of has a Hall of Fame. But no disciple will ever be compared to/pit against each other. It's there because WX are proud of their children.

Flu season is hectic because of cuddle piles. Stay in your own bed or else WQ might just have to bring out a needle or two.

Birthday gifts have a set price limit. That doesn't stop LWJ from spoiling the birthday celebrant/s.

LXC just absolutely ascends every time he visits because aaaa, so many nieces and nephews. Gusu Lan sect leader expenses suffer after every visit.

So many aunts and uncles from the Wen Wei side but only one grandmother and they worship the ground she walks on.

One of the rites of passage is tasting Wei-zongzhu's cooking. No one has yet to enjoy it. Rip WWX's feelings.

One of the many running jokes in YMW is WWX forgetting some of the children's names or calling them by the wrong name or just a nickname. No one takes offense in this because they all know that WWX loves them and will never forget them.

So many talented musicians that they can start their very own ancient China's version of an orchestra.

YMW disciples always dominate the top five in competitions held during Discussion Conferences (when they remember/bother to attend). The only time they didn't is when WWX got horribly sick and so no one showed up because they're Worried about their Wei-qianbei.

And Wei Ning, who's storing the bows and arrows after shooting practice, is breathing, his heart beating. Safe. Happy. Alive.

I was nodding along all of this then you mentioned LXC ascending and I choked on my coffee. My brain conjured up the image of a blissful-looking mdzs q LXC floating in the air sighing 'ahh, nieces, nephews, bliss'

He attained nirvana.

Honestly, YMW is the happiest place in the cultivation world.

CQL/MDZS INSP - Gusu Arc Pt4b: HanGuang-Jun

Dripping wet and dishevelled from his unceremoniously-interrupted swim, Lan WangJi raced toward the sound of preternatural growls and snarls. As expected, he came upon the feral corpses his brother and uncle had detained in the Obscure Room, now running wild in the woods of the Cloud Recesses.  

This was not to be borne. Though outnumbered, and unarmed without his spiritual sword, Bichen, Lan WangJi was not at all disadvantaged. With a wave of his arms, he summoned his spiritual tool, the guqin named after himself, Wangji. His fingers expertly plucked a musical chord that sent a pulse of spiritual energy at the undead creatures. As Lan WangJi’s cultivation skill was all but unrivaled, the single blast was powerful enough to knock the feral corpses unconscious.

From the now-quiet woods came the frantic cries from other disciples, calling for Lan WangJi by his honorary title, “HanGuang-Jun! HanGuang-Jun!” It was a Gusu-Lan sect disciple, Su She, and the Qinghe-Nie sect’s heir, Nie HuaiSang.

Su She bowed low. quickly explaining the situation with a sour look on his face. “All because of our negligence, the feral corpses escaped. Zewu-Jun and Sir Lan Qiren haven't recovered yet.”

Nie HuaiSang looked around, “Jiang Cheng took off after more corpses, but where is Wei WuXian?!”

Lan WangJi could only answer, helpless, “He was separated from me....”

MY THOUGHTS (spoiler alert & rabid fangirling)

I freaking LOVE the foreshadowing of LWJ’s line in the donghua (S01E05), “He was separated from me.“

The scene doesn’t appear in the original novel’s source material or the live action’s Untamed tv show, but IMO the anime/donghua made the right call adding it in. That one line is basically the entire premise of MDZS & WangXian. 💔

Wei Wuxian ended up separated from Lan WangJi, who never stopped looking for him, even when the whole world turned on WWX and spat on his memory, jfc. 😭

It cannot be stressed enough how devoted LWJ was to WWX, I can’t. 😭😭😭

Guardian angel idea: When WWX died his spirit still worried for the last Wen: his dear A-Yuan. Even in death, WWX protects him, becoming a (sort of) guardian angel. His spiritual consciousness is fractured and weak, all he knows and can see is the soul of the boy he has surrounded in his protective aura. Every night WWX holds his beloved son in his dreams, hums away nightmares, reminds him that he's loved even tho he'll never remember. Every day, he defects harm away. “He’s blessed!” they say, “he is clearly Hanguang-jun’s son.” (Yes, in a way, for only they hold WWX’s undying love)

LWJ mourns in private. He never allows A-Yuan to see him play for his lost love. He always makes sure that his son is far away before he wallows in his grief, and so could never reach WWX, because Sizhui carried his soul.

Mo's ritual only succeeded because Sizhui was *there*, close enough to call WWX away from his task.

Wei Wuxian felt numb as his body was torn and eaten to shreds. What was he even living for? The Wens were dead. Shijie was dead. Jiang Cheng hated him. Lan Zhan-- 

He was tired. So, so tired. He just wanted to leave, to go, he wanted to rest--

“X-Xian-gege......Granny.......” A small voice sniffed. “Where....are you? Yuan was good. Yuan waited in the tree. Where are you?” 

A’ Yuan?! Wei Wuxian started forward and realized how transparent he was. Oh. I’m......dead. A’ Yuan began crying again, clutching Wei Wuxian’s red hair ribbon - Where did he even find that??? - and Wei Wuxian paid no mind to his new form.

That’s right. Everyone I cared for is dead or hates me. But A’ Yuan......I have to protect A’ Yuan! The sects didn’t care if they killed civilians. If they found out that A’ Yuan was a Wen, they’d--! Wei Wuxian couldn’t let that happen. Not his little radish. Frantic to protect his baby, he decided to attempt a sort of pseudo possession on his hair ribbon. In this way, while he was attached to his ribbon, he could protect still separate from it and protect his baby. After all, the ribbon might get lost. He had to attach himself to objects close to A’ Yuan so that he could always protect him.

But Wei Wuxian was worried. There wasn’t any food or water and Wei Wuxian’s abilities as a ghost were limited considering how recently it was when he died. He could, however, use demonic cultivation to get some corpses to grab some food for A’ Yuan. He had to be discrete though. Those annoying sects were calling him in an effort to purge him and he didn’t want to give any sign that he was around.

Luckily, a few days later, a bloodied Lan Zhan arrived and took A’ Yuan away. Wei Wuxian tucked himself back into the ribbon, relieved. Lan Zhan would take care of A’ Yuan. But why was Lan Zhan injured?? With injuries like those, Lan Zhan must have gotten them from before the Siege. But what happened??

Wei Wuxian had to think on it later. What mattered most was A’ Yuan. Everything after that could wait.

A’ Yuan got a fever on the way back to Cloud Recesses. Lan Zhan was obviously worried, speeding up Bichen despite his obvious injuries. Wei Wuxian made sure their journey was unimpeded by any danger. They crash-landed by the foot of the entrance to Cloud Recesses. Wei Wuxian was frantically hovering over both of them - not that anyone could see him - and was grateful for Lan Xichen arriving and taking both A’ Yuan and Lan Zhan to the infirmary.

A’ Yuan lost all his memories to the fever but Wei Wuxian was content with that. Better for A’ Yuan to start on a new slate. 

When Lan Zhan awoke, he was clutching the ribbon Wei Wuxian was possessing so Wei Wuxian had to hop off of it. Before he left, he looked over the wounds. They looked oddly like discipline whips, but what would Lan Zhan have done to earn them? Maybe he got injured on a night hunt.

Wei Wuxian slipped away and to A’ Yuan, possessing the hair ribbon the boy was wearing. With the assurance that A’ Yuan was no longer suffering from a fever, he could feel his soul starting to weaken. He had held himself together for too long and expended too much energy in making sure no yin creatures got close to his son and Lan Zhan.

With the last of his energy, he completely fused himself with A’ Yuan, hoping that his spiritual consciousness would protect him.

Wei Wuxian has only flashes of awareness from then on - though he grew stronger as the years passed -, usually choosing to use what little energy he had in chasing away A’ Yuan’s faceless nightmares with calming music he would hum, entering his peaceful dreams to remind him that he was loved whenever people bullied him for having no parents.

On night hunts, while he did sit back and allow A’ Yuan to grow, he would definitely not allow the spirits to injure his son. Whenever Lan Zhan was close to A’ Yuan - now Sizhui, Wei Wuxian would also make sure to deflect harm away from him, though Lan Zhan may not necessarily need it.

Every night, Wei Wuxian felt tugs on his soul of people calling for him and he ignores them all, except for the one coming from Lan Zhan. And while he’d love to go see why Lan Zhan is calling him, he doesn’t have enough strength or willingness to separate from Sizhui.

And Wei Wuxian was content in spending the rest of eternity looking after Sizhui. He would stop, of course, if he deemed the world safe enough to leave his son in. But otherwise, he’d stay forever.

That is, until the tug calling for his soul was too strong, too near for him to resist. He finds himself yanked away from A’ Yuan and stuffed into an injured body, given tasks that he has to complete unless he’d like his soul to be rendered to shreds.

Then canon happens and WWX is like well, if this happened in the 13 years I was dead I would have been at peace and left I suppose. LWJ is NOT amused

Wangji settles into bed and stares at the ceiling.

It’s rare that sleep evades him, but tonight, he feels strange and sad and his heart is too confused to let him fall asleep.

It’s the anniversary of his parents’ passing and it’s been a decade now since they passed and the pain of their loss is now more like a heavy ache on his shoulders and less like a sharp punch to the gut like it used to be – but that’s not the reason for his strange mood.

It’s silly and childish and a little bit mortifying but…

But he had to leave school early today to go visit his parents’ graves and because of that he hadn’t been able to walk home with Wei Ying…

It’s mortifying to feel upset about that – Wangji knows this. And he feels guilty for being more upset about losing out on his daily walk with Wei Ying than mourning the loss of his parents…

It’s just a walk…

Just…

Wangji’s phone buzzes suddenly on his desk.

Who could possibly be calling him this late? It must be spam. He’s tempted to ignore it but, perhaps due to his strange mood, he sighs and gets up to answer his phone.

He looks at his phone, fully prepared to press the ignore call button, but the name on the screen stops him.

Wei Ying.

He answers the phone quickly, his heart suddenly beating very loud in his chest.

“Hello?” he says hesitantly.

“Lan Zhan!” Wei Ying greets cheerfully.

The strange sadness in Wangji’s chest immediately quiets at the sound of Wei Ying’s voice. He’s almost embarrassed for himself at how easy he is.

“Were you sleeping, Lan Zhan?” Wei Ying asks.

“No,” Lan Zhan answers, careful not to sound too eager.  

“Mm, that’s good,” Wei Ying says. The noise around him is loud, windy, it sounds like he’s outside.

“Are you outside?” Lan Zhan asks worriedly. It’s cold out and it’s supposed to snow tonight. Wei Ying should be inside! Warm and safe and inside!  

“I am!” Wei Ying says delightedly, and he laughs like it’s funny. “How did you know, Lan Zhan? Are you watching me?”

“Silly,” Wangji says, but he can’t help but smile. Wei Ying is always so quick to laugh. So easy to amuse. It’s charming and too cute for Wangji to endure sometimes. “Why are you outside? It’s cold.”

“I’m on an important mission, Lan Zhan,” Wei Ying says seriously, but it’s pointless because Wangji can hear the smile in his voice.

“Boring,” Wangji says, because he doesn’t know what else to say.

“Mean,” Wei Ying replies, but he sounds so fond that it makes Wangji’s ears go hot.

There’s a slight lull in their conversation. Wangji listens to the background noise on Wei Ying’s side and wracks his brain for things to say. He wants to keep this conversation going. He doesn’t want it to end. He wants Wei Ying to keep talking…

“Lan Zhan,” Wei Ying says, breaking Wangji from his internal dilemma, “hum that song for me – the one you wrote!”

“No,” Wangji says, feeling embarrassed. Wei Ying doesn’t know…

“Come on! Please!” Wei Ying whines, “I’m outside and it’s cold and listening to that song will be my only comfort.”

“Go inside,” Wangji replies.

“I can’t. I’m on a mission!” Wei Ying says.

“What is this mission?” Wangji asks.

“It’s a secret mission. Someone I care about is a bit sad today – I’m going to try to make them happy,” Wei Ying says, and Wangji feels a little bit... jealous? Who is this mission for? Why is Wei Ying calling Wangji if he’s on some secret mission for someone else…  

“Come on,” Wei Ying says again, “Hum that song for me, please?”

“You know the song as well as I do,” Wangji says softly, his ears growing hot again as he remembers how Wei Ying whistled it on his way out of the classroom. “You hum it.”

“I like it when you hum it,” Wei Ying says petulantly, “Besides, I had to walk home alone today and now I’m on this secret mission – braving the cold and the outside alone! Hum me the song, Lan Zhan – please~”

Wangji bites his lip and considers Wei Ying’s plights. If he’s honest with himself, he’s delighted that Wei Ying complained about walking home alone.

Maybe Wangji wasn’t the only one feeling sad about that…

Maybe Wei Ying missed him too…

Maybe he can indulge Wei Ying this once…

He starts humming the song, valiantly fighting against his own embarrassment at the situation.  He feels awfully silly humming his silly love song to Wei Ying as he sits in his room alone.

But if this is what Wei Ying wants…

Well, if Wangji is honest with himself, he’s never been able to deny Wei Ying anything anyway.

Wei Ying is quiet when Wangji finishes humming his song.

Wangji is quiet too, sitting in his strange emotion of embarrassment and pleasure. He counts the seconds that Wei Ying is quiet on the other end of the line.

One. Two. Three. Four.

“Lan Zhan,” Wei Ying says finally, and his voice is breathless.

“Mn?” Wangji hums, trying his best to sound calm and collected and not nervous at all.

“Lan Zhan, look outside of your window.”

Wangji stands and walks over to his window.

Wei Ying grins widely up at him, waving his arm wildly.

Wangji is speechless. He can’t do anything but stare. He thinks his mouth might be open in shock.

“Aren’t you happy to see me, Lan Zhan?” Wei Ying asks through the phone, and only then does Wangji have the sense to open the window.

“What are you doing here?” Wangji asks, still through the phone, because his room is on the second floor, and he’s sure that shouting down to Wei Ying will awaken his uncle.

“My secret mission,” Wei Ying says. He puts his hand into his jacket pocket and pulls something out. “I’m gonna throw this, okay? Make sure to catch it.”

Wangji is so lost and confused, but he nods. He puts his phone down on the window will and prepares to catch whatever Wei Ying is going to throw at him.

Wei Ying tosses the object up to him and Wangji catches it easily with both hands.

He brings his phone back to his ear as he inspects the object Wei Ying threw at him. It’s a small wooden box, it has legs and it looks like it would open.

“Open it,” Wei Ying says.

Wangji opens it carefully, his eyes on Wei Ying the entire time.

Tinkling music starts to play. One note after the other a familiar melody takes shape.

“I had to guess the notes so it might not be perfect,” Wei Ying says.

Wangji’s heart feels in danger of bursting. His eyes burn and his throat aches. “It’s perfect,” he says softly. He closes it suddenly, because he thinks that if he hears anymore he really might cry.

“You wrote a really good song, Lan Zhan,” Wei Ying says, smiling up at Wangji. His cheeks are red from the cold and his eyes are sparkling and… “I hope it brings you as much comfort as it brings me.”

“Mn,” Wangji nods. He holds the little music box tightly in his hand, feeling so overwhelmed and so undeserving that he aches. He feels too big for his skin and he almost wants to jump out of this window and…

“Okay, mission completed!” Wei Ying laughs. He waves at Wangji again. “Goodnight, Lan Zhan!”

“Goodnight,” Wangji replies, still feeling shell-shocked.

Wei Ying ends their call and puts his phone into his pocket. He smiles widely one more time and turns to leave.

“Wait!” Wangji yells suddenly – not caring if it wakes his uncle or not.

Wei Ying turns to look up at him in confusion.

Wangji runs to his closet and pulls out his scarf. He hurriedly throws it down to Wei Ying.

Wei Ying catches it and wraps it around his neck. He winks at Wangji and turns to leave again.

“I love you,” Wangji says quietly, watching Wei Ying as he jumps over the fence. “I love you.”

Wei Ying turns around when he hits the street and waves to Wangji again.

Wangji waves back.

“I love you.”

WWX has tried to make the juniors drink Emperor's Smile LWJ barely managed to stop him

LWJ basically just tries to stop WWX and Juniors from causing trouble.

Juniors once sneaked in Emperor's Smile and drank it.

JL was a crying drunk. LJY consoled him and also cried with him

LSZ can drink forever and not get drunk he definitely goes after WWX OYZZ just......slept.

LWJ carried all of the kids back to bed because WWX was busy drinking more wine

Punishments include copying the Lan sect rules on a handstand. JL has learnt the Lan Sect rules by heart by now.

LSZ still gets buried in the ground with the rabbits.

WangXian sometimes insist on tying junoirs' hair up even if they protest, WangXian still do it

WWX tries to cook food for the juniors sometimes

"Senior Wei....it's alright! We can cook on our own!" "Don't worry kids! I can feed my children! *rolls up sleeves*"

LWJ always manages to slurp down WWX's food without WWX's notice so that the kids don't have to go through hell

Nights include excessively exaggerated stories of WWX's feats JL doesn't buy it at first but when LWJ doesn't deny it..."Is it really true?"

Cultivation practices are the wildest.

WWX lied to told LJY that you could control fierce corpses by screaming at different pitches

Now LJY is forbidden from screaming

LSZ has secretly learnt how to play WangXian on the guqin.

And plays it everytime WangXian have those "looking into each other's eyes lovingly" moments as background music

WWX always encourages OYZZ to write more sappy poems

Sometimes when the hunt is too tiring, WangXian play a lullaby for the juniors so that they can sleep peacefully.

Literally just a wild happy family

5 times Yizhan isn’t one sided

Disclaimer: Again, all speculation, treat this as fanfiction. Don’t read if you don’t like it. (I’ve been in many rps before and this is the fandom in which I’ve been the most afraid of my life LOL)

I’ve seen some people saying BJYX is one-sided, “created” and “managed” by dd. Initially, it may seem like it cuz dd is more forward about his affections. But I think once you understand them, you would see how much gg cares for him.

1) Jealousy - The most obvious being during the famous “16 Minutes” on KB when dd was coming out of a hole with another actor. Gg’s face changes immediately and he didn’t even notice his hand was raised mid-air. Another instance is when dd mentions hanging out with LXC at the fan-meeting. Gg asked when they hung out and then was like “oh when I wasn’t there?” Also the time during filming when dd got too excited talking to the cameraman about motorcycle and gg was stuck in the middle. At first, I thought it’s strange to be jealous of 2 people that obviously have no romantic intentions towards dd. But then I remember my own romantic past and that ya, when you really like someone, you get really possessive even when it’s stupid. And you try your best to logic it but the emotion is still there.

Easter egg: During the fan-meeting and the bts with the cameraman, gg used the exact word “厲害！“ (Amazing!) in a warning tone. The consistency points out that he’s having the same emotion in both instance. 

2) Caring - Gg cares about dd’s health a lot, in very detailed ways that surprises even me. In “9-Minutes”, he noticed a new scar and told him to wear kneepads. When dd came back from another filming and said he thought it’s “cool” he was working so hard, gg immediately rebutted, saying it’s not cool to overwork. Another thing is the “dead duck mouth hard” that I won’t repeat since I already wrote about it here.

3) Artwork - Gg is speculated to put dd into his art work. I wrote about it here. Maybe these are not on purposes but even if he unconsciously or accidentally included dd into this art, that’s also very sweet.

4) Music - Similar to drawing/painting, I think that an artist will be honest with his feelings through his music. Gg is no exception. We all know that gg loves to sing. The many instances where he may be expressing his feelings through music: (I feel like an AP lit student finding motifs LOL)

1) On 6/22/18 (special date), his WB mentions a song call “If I were a song” by Yoyo Sham that describing protecting the person he loves. My favorite lyrics is “I can be your home.” 

2) During the TU bts, on 8/5/18 (dd’s birthday), gg sang “Rainbow”. The footage cut off right after “In this story” and before “Did you really love me?” 

3) On a WB post in Sept 2018, gg alluded to the song “Summer’s Breeze” by Landy Wen. The song talks about a summer one will always remember, that two people were clearly in love. In the post he said “Summer breeze is over, vacation is also over.” The interpretation here is that he left behind WWX in the summer of 2018. Whether this means that he has decided to approach his feelings for dd outside of WWX’s feelings for LWJ, we will never know. 

4) At a fan-meeting, gg changed the lyrics of the song “Kepler” by Stephanie Sun from “I am no longer a lonely star” to “I fell in love with a lonely star.” 

5) When gg went to ttxs, he sang “Love Confession" by Jay Chou facing directly at dd. 

6) Gg sang “You are the most beautiful scenery in my life” by JS at a performance in October 2018. This is an old song that he covers. Even though he sang this song first for a commercial, the commercial has not air at this point (this event is unrelated to the commercial) so it’s speculated that he really likes this song and possibly have special meaning for him to sing it. The song mentions summer. 

7) He sang “Love you but lonely” by Na Ying at wmdg. Loneliness comes up again. 

8) He sang “Summer Day that the Wind Blew Past” by JJ Lin and Kym, a song about remembering falling in love in a past summer. There’s also a recording of him talking about why he chose this song. He said “it’s because the song describes when love first starts in a summer afternoon with a breeze, and I want to share it with everyone.” 

5) Gg being angry with dd - This may seem counterintuitive. Why is being angry love? We all know gg is a very courteous person. He actually said during an interview that people often thinks he’s “fake” because he’s so “nice” but that’s just how he treats most people, especially when he’s working. People that believes in horoscope says it’s a common trait for Libras to treat most people with a “public face” and keep them at a distance. I don’t put much weight into star signs but I do think this is gg’s personality. But what about towards dd? Gg is shown to be “mean” with him: 1) He rarely shows his “bunny teeth warning” to others but does so many times with dd. 2) He gets mad and shows his true emotions in the famous “9-minutes” where he’s mad that dd yelled at him in the morning. 3) He got mad at dd during a bts and even threw the umbrella to the floor because gg thought dd didn’t like WWX. 4) Gg got mad when he asked dd what he’s doing during his time off that day and dd said “stop nagging me”/”leave me alone”/”don’t control me” (hard to translate). They had a fight which ended with dd saying “I didn’t say for you to not care about me :(”. 5) Gg telling dd to stop looking at him during kb. This isn’t really getting angry but also show how he can be straightforward with him.
