Way back in Cybermen vs. Daleks, he was wearing 3D glasses while the Doctor watched the Cybermen propose an alliance with the Daleks.

I spent years thinking "how DARE you put something between Tennant's eyes and the camera when the Doctor is having that kind of fear?"

He conveyed it anyway. A swallow, a bounce of his Adam's apple (heh), I could see it.

AND NOW HE DOES THIS SHIT.

I resented him so much when he replaced my Doctor, who was fantastic, and then he had the absolute nerve to be an excellent actor who plays excellent characters.

Bastard.

I love him.

Ok but how does David Tennant do it?

How does he emote through the glasses?

I'm rewatching all the Marvel Defenders shows on Netflix and as much as I mock the MCU now, I need non-Marvel fans to understand that I was and still am a fan of "Daredevil fighting the gentrifying assshole who bought out the police force because ACAB both as a lawyer and vigilante of the community" and "Jessica Jones fighting the man who mind controlled her into doing unspeakable things and forming a community of fellow survivors and allies while dealing with PTSD in a range of both healthy and unhealthy ways" Marvel. this is really a testament to the fact that you don't actually have to change much of your appearance, general mannerisms or accent to perfectly embody completely opposing characters
