the Fool’s Errand charm scene is really funny and sweet and all, but I don't think we talk enough about this little exchange that follows immediately after

One of the funniest & sad thing about Rufus is how the novels explain us that one of the way he would subcounscious try to get the attention & the approval of his father is by acting all rebellious & it would be often times earn him disdain or him being ignored after his attempts of trying to make himself look clever & useful in front of him as a kid.

Beside the search of the promised land, I think it was the only way for him to attempt to connect with his father ( for eng only speakers, he explain in 7R that he dream of finding it since he was a child. We can guess who passed that dream onto him, despite how awful their relationship is. It was likely the only few times he might have felt like he could connect with his father)

And then his father dies. And Rufus still has a need to impress him. A guy who is already dead.

But then something that is interesting is that in Rebirth, he seems to try to replicate that attitude that now with the group he is the closest to: The Turks.

When Heidegger praise him in Junon, he doesn't react.

In the Gongaga sidequest, he acts rebellious with Tseng trying to assign him bodyguards (despite the fact he is visibly happy when you do a good job protecting him). Then we see the way Tseng's react to some of his reckless moves like during the Junon ceremony or the Gold Saucer. At this point, he doesn't try to push back about Rufus' decisions. He's whatever about it. He's more focused on making sure Aerith is safe.

Then there's Elena own reactions in contrast. When she learns about the promised land, she's all excited & praise Rufus'plan. And it's met with Rufus's softly laughing to himself.

Then in the GS, we're back to rebellious!Rufus, with Elena's reaction being the one at the forefront, with Rufus' eyes often on & addressing her before going back on his opponent. It seems Rufus improvised his apparition on the spot too at the last minute as he was watching the Turks match.

Then you have once again Elena's reaction before they depart in the temple. Her worries about their safety switch onto Rufus' own when she learns he follows them to the temple but then she can't help admitting she still likes that side of him. (compare this to her reaction with Palmer, whom she thinks he is reckless as well but she doesn't get as expressive)

And it's interesting knowing Rufus tend to be interested by characters who are not afraid to openly challenge him. & Elena is no fangirl of him & has been shown to challenge her superiors. She has a rather nuanced view of him.

The reaction & approval he was seeking & couldn't find with his father, he somehow could find it with Elena.

It also get funnier when you remember his brother Evan behave in a similar manner in front of Kyrie & her friends.

And I've also been thinking about Rufus & the Turks being described like a gang of children in the novels & how Rufus would be that odd child who never had friends prior & may be subcounsciouly trying to bond with them with the only way he knows at that point.

for some reason i enjoy so much the idea of kyle actually genuinely liking cartman’s appearance. like, he would never admit it – especially to cartman – but somehow eric really is a perfect match for kyle’s preferences.

therefore he can’t possibly stand the idea of cartman changing his appearance to become more “beautiful” in other people’s opinions, because kyle likes him the way he already is — and kyle already is sure cartman is beautiful.

so eeeevery time cartman has even a tiniest thought of losing weight, kyle makes sure he will change his mind.

cartman: I don’t know, man, maybe I really should lose weight… I mean, I’m hot as hell right now, but imagine all those girls who will go completely insane when they see me all skinny and sexy?

kyle: Gross. I don’t want to even think about it.

Does being a white or black canvas doesnt make them part of a magic community by default/at birth?? (Putting aside the special force smth of m34, and any witches and guilds and etc.)

thats a good question!!! its a bit of a gray area (ba dum ts 🥁), in my head i always considered "being a member of the magic community" as having something that makes you like. not a normal human. like having some kind of magic or being a spirit/monster/cryptid/etc!!

for black and white canvases, theres nothing inherently special about them besides the level of their magic resistance..,,everyone has some level of resistance, they are just the most extreme levels, but i dont think having it is considered any kind of special magic power or sets you too far apart from other humans!!

for a black canvas its being a part of a guild/the m-34th is what makes you part of the magic community!! the m-34th has nothing inherently magic but since they involve themselves so much in police-ing the magic community they are by and large considered a part of it

for a white canvas its actually incredibly hard to get involved with the magic community i feel... mostly for this reason: a lot of the community hides behind some kind of masking spell-- witches use the mob spell, the merchant uses...something, sulluvan only appears to those who he wants to, but all of it has its roots in "using magic to conceal yourself from the world," and the less resistance you have the less you're able to break from that!! essentially, a white canvas is the most magic-gullible type LOL!! contrast this to a black canvas where you couldnt use a masking spell around them if you tried your best, theyd see right through it

im actually not sure how marshall even ends up being part of the m-34th and gets involved anyway...his pipeline into the magic community must have been someone directly pulling him in and getting him straight to the m-34th because theres no way he couldve gotten in organically the way lime did, he would just be going about his merry way...

Recently, I just added Rin Nohara as a muse on my naruto blog @musesofchaos, and I knew I had to design her for the verse where she manages to just barely survive her demise. Getting stabbed by your crush, even though it was your own choice, and nearly dying would understandably mess someone up. Despite the smiles and her still kind nature, Rin's view on the world has shifted because of the incident, not to mention the overwhelming guilt she feels for inflicting such pain on Kakashi. She's scared that he hates her, resents her. That's far beyond the truth, but she doesn't know that. So for most of this new arc I'm developing for her, she's keen on staying as far away from Konoha as possible. I wanted to symbolize that change through clothing that one at first may think that Rin wouldn't have gone for. Keeping some of the colour scheme of her old outfit to show that she still has those old parts of herself left. I also admittedly just wanted to go for something different from the other older fan designs I've seen to her, which in my opinion are a little boring? Of course no offense to those artist, but I feel like a lot of people just try to incorporate her genin design into her adult design and I wanted to bring something more unique to the table. Anyway, I hope ya like her! She was a joy to draw : )

So I went to the wiki page for the henghill Bullet & Brain mission of 2.2 looking for some dialogue I had missed and

a) I found something incredibly tasty that slotted into some other thoughts I'd been having, more on that on another day, and

b) I saw this super fun little trivia at the bottom, which!

I knew Penacony characters like Boothill took a lot of inspirations from old movies, but I didn't realize it was even in his and Dan Heng's relationship, that's so cool!!

It fits them very well, it's such a fun reference. "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" was an old buddy Western film (from 1969- nice) about a pair of outlaws. Butch Cassidy was the leader of a gang, and described as clever, affable, and talkative. Meanwhile, his closest companion, the Sundance Kid, was known as a man of few words.

Cassidy's original birth name was much more plain, but similar to Boothill, he took on a new moniker when he became an outlaw. "Cassidy" had been the last name of his beloved mentor, who taught him how to shoot and ride. And Sundance Kid was known as he was because Sundance was the name of his hometown, and it was the only place that had ever managed to catch and jail him, back when he'd been younger (also similar to Dan Heng, but ouch).

These two stick together like glue throughout the length of the film- through Cassidy's leadership of the gang being challenged, through a train robbery gone wrong, through being pursued by mercenaries, and even through fleeing to Bolivia and trying to start over together.

I don't want to say too much more, since the mission title is referencing one specific movie that I've never seen. I kinda wanna watch it now, though, just to see the inspiration that went into Boothill and Dan Heng and how they get along. I just think it's really sweet that these two were literally made to be the best of bros, how lovely is that. 💕

i feel like it’s important to note that i hc Shadowheart as the shortest, but I don’t hc Lae’zel as particularly tall either. like in my mind Shadowheart is somewhere between 5’0 and 5’1, but Lae’zel is only about 5’4, she’s still pretty short. and meanwhile Karlach is standing there at about 6’5 and Lae’zel is seething with jealous rage about being over an entire foot shorter than her

So I'm an RTD girlie who gave up on doctor who somewhere in the moffat era before chibnall even took over and so I've missed all of thirteen's tenure. I don't have it in me to watch all of her seasons at this moment in time but I LOVE Jodie and your gifs look so compelling.
