Of Confessions - Serendipity Moment retelling (just a moment)
(AN: Cove and MC (she/her) are in an established relationship. This is a loose retelling and I don't know much about Shiloh completely, I only know what's known of him from Our Life: Beginnings and Always and even then only the route I took. So, honestly? OOC most likely.)
You blinked your eyes feeling the sharp sting. Had it all been a lie? Why was he still smiling? Did he like it? Was he really so cruel?
Your sister was on the ground already in despair. His smile softened when his eyes landed on her upset features. He looked away and opened his mouth.
"Sh-She named a fish after you!" Your face burned as you turned to Cove. He grabbed your hand and stepped beside you before you looked away. Shiloh seemed stunned.
"She named... there's a... I have.." Coves volume slowly decreased as he stumbled on his words. You swallowed before taking a deep breath.
"Cove has a fish. Its red with black spots that look like freckles. I missed you and it reminded me of you. He doesn't really name his fish so he let me name it and I named it Shiloh," you explained your voice soft and shaky slowly growing steadier.
"Oh."
"I call it Junior though. Uhm I have a picture of it-"
"Cove." You squeezed his hand and shook your head before smiling at him reassuringly. Your cheeks still burned but you felt less adrift in your emotions.
"Can you watch over Lizzie for a second?" You asked before letting go to walk towards Shiloh. "Lets go."
Together the two of you walked back to your street before Shiloh gave you a smile.
"You should go back."
"But I wanna talk." You just couldnt find the words or at least none that tasted like hurt and betrayal.
"We'll talk later." He gave you another smile though this one felt less sad. You werent sure how you felt about that. How had he perfected this mask so well? Why had he grown up so much? It felt a little unfair.
You opened your mouth before closing it. Your eyes fell to the ground and nodded before taking a step back.
"You better stay there. No running away like Cove!" You joked before you ran back to the playground. Cove and your sister weren't the closest so you were a little worried about them being together and your sister getting the comfort she needed.
Cove looked up from where he knelt next to your sister a hand on her shoulder. He looked relieved to see you but also concerned.
"Are you ok?" You smiled and though weak it was enough to reassure Cove.
"Im fine. Lizzie?" She shook her head her hat in the sand by her feet.
"How can he be fine with that?! I dont understand! I thought we were friends!" Your lips thinned as your eyebrows drew together before you pulled her into a hug.
It hurt for you but you were always second fiddle to Lizzie. Shiloh and Lizzie though? They were as thick as thieves. If what you thought was genuine friendship and you were second best, how must it feel to be the preferred option and yet still have your relationship thrown in your face. You would have rathered to take the brunt of it all than to have Lizzie face the same scorn you did. It was hard to digest.
"I know, lizzie. But we've got to try to know. Or try to understand. I always knew Shiloh was never as he seemed, at least with me. I'm sorry Lizzie. I'm so sorry." You pressed your head against hers as she sniffled before wiping at her eyes. She took a deep breath. Her hands shook as she brushed her tears away.
"Yeah. We deserve answers." You smiled at Lizzies ability to rebound. Your chest felt like a whirlpool of hurt still and you felt like you were a little adrift at sea still but no longer in a storm. Just helpless to the waves that pushed you around. If those waves were Lizzie and Cove though, you knew you would be ok.
"Yeah," you nodded and helped your sister up. Cove came around as well before he slipped a hand into yours as Lizzie brushed off her hat.
"Are you sure youre ok?" You nodded and gave him another smile. He didnt seem convinced so you leaned against him and let your smile grow.
"I will be. He's still the same Shiloh but different. And it doesnt change what I've always wanted to do." He tilted his head raising an eyebrow.
"Get to know who he really is. What his thoughts and opinions are. Even if he's an asshole, I want to know its genuine. And i want him to know that our friendship was real to me and I'll always consider him my friend."
"Ugh youre too sappy. Now c'mon love birds! Let's hurry and get some answers out of him!" You laughed and grabbed Lizzies hand walling back to your street with your two constants in tow.

Jordelia REAL proposal headcanon!!!
yes i’m writing another headcanon and yes it will most likely turn into a fic but i doth do not care
so here is my thoughts on how the REAL proposal would happen:
CONTAINS MILD SPOILERS!!!
eventually cordelia had broken grace’s bracelet with cortana and james’ emotions came back
even though cordelia and james are engaged they remain that way
james kind of distances himself for a bit because he’s trying to gather all his emotions and thoughts together
one day grace comes to the institute to see james and when grace finds out about james not having the bracelet she’s furious
“that was my mother’s bracelet!”
“which one? the one that died? or the one that tried having my own grandfather kill me?”
at that grace storms out of the room and lucie is by the door looking shocked and also nervous she was caught
“i swear i dropped my earring!”
“luce. don’t tell anyone, okay?”
lucie swore to secrecy on james’ secret of having his emotions back and james made her swear on the angel she wouldn’t tell her parabatai anything
“you can’t expect me not to tell daisy!”
“luce you don’t understand.”
at that lucie had stormed out of the room and ignored james for a whole week making will and tessa confused as to what happened between their two children
by then matthew came over to see james and was in the doorway to the library when he saw lucie
“have you seen james?”
“i do not care for where my brother is.”
“lucie.”
“don’t lucie me! i do not appreciate what he has done!”
“what he’s done?”
lucie squeaks at that and runs off because she almost spilt james’ secret
that night james was in his room and lucie ran in apologising to him about how her anger almost got the best of her and she almost told matthew
james smiled at that and lucie looked confused
“you never could keep a secret could you luce?”
lucie went to bed early that night and james snuck out of the institute window because he thought it was time considering lucie almost told matthew
james tapped on cordelia’s window and cordelia woke to find james on the other side
cordelia had rushed over at this point and opened the window for him
“by the angel james!”
“i’m sorry daisy i had to come.”
“and it could not wait until morning?”
the sound of creaking floorboards sounded and james hid behind the curtains just as alastair peered into her room
“are you okay layla?”
“just very tired.”
at that alastair nodded and walked off knowing that little of their conversation said a lot
when cordelia heard her brother’s door close, james had stepped out of the curtains and made his way over to her
“what is it that you want james?”
“i need to tell you something. it is driving lucie mad.”
“what does lucie have anything to do with it?”
“she overhead me.”
“that is something lucie very much likes to do.”
there’s silence between the two of them before cordelia broke it
“james? are you going to tell me?”
“oh right!”
james goes into a long conversation about what had happened in the past week between when cortana broke the bracelet and lucie almost telling matthew his secret
cordelia only looked at him shocked and then sat down on her bed
james followed and squatted down in front of her and looking up at her
“daisy?”
“why did you want to tell me and swore lucie to secrecy?”
“because i thought i’d give lucie false hope.”
“give her false hope with what?”
james had given up at explaining at this point and decided to do what he’s always wanted to do since the whispering room but couldnt because of the bracelet bounding his emotions to grace
it was a soft kiss but yet he still tangled his hand in her hair as if he wanted more
cordelia pulled back in surprise at that and looked at him
“Oh” she gasped
james smiled at that and cordelia smiled too because she couldn’t always help but smile when james smiled
“i would like to do this right. that’s if you would let me.”
cordelia just nodded at that and waited for him to explain
“daisy. my daisy. will you allow me to court you?”
cordelia just smiled and nodded grateful for it not being another proposal
that night, though it was scandalous for an unmarried woman to spend the night with a man, james stayed the night as cordelia refused to let him leave so late at night
they kept this all a secret from their friends for months but had decided to tell will and tessa about it as james and cordelia thought they would understand will was a bit mad that the first proposal was a fake and forced him to do it properly if he was serious and make it better than the last one
they went on small outings together to the parks or snuck out late at night
some of the merry thieves grew suspicion about cordelia and james
cordelia and james noticed this suspicion and decided to let it go
that was until lucie caught them together in the library
“you two are together!”
james and cordelia had sprung apart from their kiss at this time and both went bright red
“when did this all happen?”
“do keep quiet luce.”
“does mam and papa know?”
james and cordelia gave each other a look and lucie gasped making james and cordelia hush her into silence
“we are not ready to tell anyone lucie. promise us you won’t tell anyone.”
lucie looked between the two of them and groaned
“i hate secrecy! but daisy you must tell me everything!”
james had a horrified look but cordelia pecked him on the cheek and assured him it would be fine
lucie has left by then with a skip in her step leaving the two of them behind in the library
“now that lucie knows i suppose we must tell the others.”
“lucie can keep a secret if i tell her things about you.”
cordelia smirked as james gave her an embarrassed look
their fake engagement had gone on for about a year and a half now and james thought it was time
lucie had taken cordelia out that day as they went to go and buy new dresses for the ball that tessa had decided to throw for her and will’s wedding anniversary
james walked into the office that day and looked at his mother
“mam.”
tessa has turned around at that point and looked concerned. will also looked concerned
james looked at his parents and explained what he was planning and will’s face had lit up and started dancing around the office having to have tessa calm him down
tessa was more than happy to allow for james’ plan to occur on their celebration of their wedding anniversary
that night cordelia had walked in with a bronze silk dress on that took him back to the whispering room
“she looks beautiful doesn’t she?”
james turned to see lucie standing next to him and he couldn’t help but give her a suspicious look
cordelia came over to them and smiled at both lucie and james
all of their friends came over at this point too and matthew gave cordelia a suspicious look
“isn’t that the-”
“math i need to talk to you!”
james had walked matthew away at this point
“no one knows about that night besides you, me and daisy.”
“not even lucie?”
james shook his head and they walked back over to their friends
when the music started up, matthew took lucie for a dance
thomas took ariadne for a dance with anna taking alastair and keeping close by thomas and ariadne
christopher decided to ask his cousin eugenia for a dance as no one had asked her yet
james took cordelia to the middle of the ballroom and held her close to him and holding her tight
“are you alright james?”
james looked at her and saw her worried look and he smiled
“there’s something i would like to ask you.”
“james-”
james at this point had gotten down on one knee and gasps surrounded the whole room
tessa and will stood in the room with massive smiles on their faces whilst everyone else stood in surprise
even cordelia
“daisy, my daisy.”
cordelia felt something flutter in her chest as she always did when he said that to her
“i know i have made mistakes in the past and i cannot forgive myself for making them. especially for the ones that hurt you. the biggest mistake i made was not telling you how much i love you. but now, over the past year-”
“past year!” matthew’s gasp echoed through the silent ballroom
“matthew” lucie had scolded, tears in the corner of her eyes she had been waiting for this moment for years
“i have been able to tell you all of those things. you always believed in me when i didn’t believe in myself and your courage and bravery has made me feel like i was the luckiest person to have you in my life.”
“she was in all of our lives jamie!”
james ignored his sister when she said that
“i love you daisy. my daisy. i hope i can make up my past with having a future with only you as you are everything to me. so cordelia carstairs, will you marry me?”
james pulled out a box and cordelia saw the herondale ring
she bent down to face him and kissed him as an answer as she was lost for words
when they finally pulled apart, james smiled at her and she smiled back
“yes. yes i will marry you james herondale.”
james kissed her again as cheers echoed throughout the ballroom
i would say yes more than once if it meant that i was going to spend my future with you james herondale
a real proposal headcanon probably turned into a short fic of my take on how their proposal happened. this actually was originally meant to be a jordelia wedding headcanon but i turned into a proposal headcanon instead
(please ask me for permission before reposting on any other social media platform or if you would like to write a fic based off of this. if you do plan on reposting this on instagram please credit me!!!)

Wait for me. /// Kirishima Eijiro
Hi! Can I request a story with kirishima where the reader is knocked unconscious during a battle and Kirishima crawls over to her and holds her in his arms (theyre in a fire) and whispers "itll be okay" and then he passes out. BUT THEN he wakes up in a hospital and he asks for you only to learn youre dead and he apologizes to you because hes sorry he couldnt protect you. I mean make changes as you see fit I just like the idea. THANK YOU!!! Have a wonderful day!
Hey, I’m sorry I’m doing this sooo late >~<
I tweaked it a little bit ... I hope this is good enough, i intend to do this over in the future probably. But, as of right now i think it’s pretty decent..ANYWAY.
Hope you enjoy ANON! <3
/////
Your blood was warm, warmer than you had originally thought it was. The fire that surrounded you didn't help the feeling, the flames grew hotter and larger as you laid on the floor. The dark smoke that hovered over you was a warning, a demand that you stayed down. A demand that you lay there to die.
The yelling of your name was the only thing keeping you conscious though, the sounds of your friends calling to you was like a song to your ears. You couldn't move, much less say anything to direct their attention to your body. Tears fell freely from your eyes, your body too numb to attempt to stop them.
As you stared up at the darkness above you, the sounds of heavy footfalls hit your ears. Your eyelids were getting heavy, Yet the moment your eyes began to close the clouds were pushed away from you. The sound of heavy feet colliding with the floor next to your head was the thing that made the muscles in your neck tense, but the sight of a pair of familiar tear flooded eyes come into your view.
Kirishima.
"We'll get you out of here okay." His large hands went to push your hair out of your face, the corners of your mouth turned up as he pressed a quick kiss to your forehead. His voice wavered as he began mumbling to himself, his eyes falling from yours to trail down your body; the mere sight of your injuries made his heart stop. His jaw clenched as his body tensed up, he couldn't risk leaving you there to get backup, but moving you would be too difficult with your wounds.
The hand that trailed down your body to move what was left of your costume to check for more injuries was being stained with your blood, the sight only made him more anxious.
As he attempts to wrap and keep what blood he could inside of your body, your vision was slowly getting worse, the smoke that hovered above you was descending over the both of you; somehow even heavier than before. The smoke was quick to cover most of Kiri's head and he ducked to avoid what he could, working faster to dress your wounds.
As you slowly began to nod off into unconsciousness Kirishima's hand slides underneath your head, giving it a soft shake. His voice cracked as he whispered to you, his fingers threaded through your hair as his head turned; his mouth moved, a sure guess was that he was calling to whoever was near. Your hearing is normally the last thing to go as you die, but you guessed it would be the first to go in this instance, all you could hear with a soft ringing and your slowed heart beat.
His tear stained face came back into your view, his begs and pleads for you to stay with him fell onto deaf ears, his fingers that were weaved into your hair had tightened around the strands, slightly pulling them as his upper body curved over your own.
Your vision was going fuzzy, the things in your view had slowly became blurry blobs, yet Kirishima was the thing to stay completely visible. His body shook with his sobs, His head only coming up from his curled position to call out to his partners. Every time he had took a breath his form shook even harder, his grip on you had tightened as you both had waited for backup.
The smoke that sat above the both of you had almost completely fallen over Kirishima, forcing him to fall to his side; resulting in him pulling your limp body to his chest. He had stuffed his face into your burnt, disheveled hair, his hand still was gripped around your hair, his other hand had found a spot within your limp palm. His fingers tightened around your palm in a weak attempt to work some life back into your palm; silently begging for you to grip his hand in return. Yet, all you could muster was a small twitch of your fingers.
As your eyelids began to close, the bright light of a search light had broken apart the smoke settled above you, the sight making the corners of you lips to curve upward. As Heroes had stumbled towards the both of you, Kirishima had already pulled your form away from him and jumped off the floor.
You didn't want him to let you go. As you attempt to move your hand in a weak attempt to get his attention, your body is quickly lifted to a stretcher, Kirishima flying to your side as they pull you out of the area.
His hand gripped your own, his face contorted into fear and worry as his eyes flew from the two Paramedics at your sides, your hearing had been long gone as his face switches to one of pure anger. His mouth opened and his sharp teeth were barred at the two Paramedics, his form shook and before he could rare back his fist two sets of arms wrap around his own.
And as you're rolled away, your eyelids finally fall.
////
"Hey there Beautiful. Sorry I'm visiting so late. Got caught up at work, you know how it is. Uh .. Hope you're doing alright. I miss you. God, I miss you so much. It ... It's really, really hard doing this without you." As Kirishima sits before your grave chatting about his day, he had sat the large bouquet of flowers next to your tombstone. His hand trembled as he slowly pulled away from the plastic wrapped around the stems, his heart shattering in his chest as he stares at the engraving on your stone. The moment was interrupted as he's called away by his co-worker.
"I gotta go for now. I'll come visit you soon though. I promise."
As he walked away, he had found himself visiting your grave less and less, the flowers he would leave there for you had slowly died away, the grave keeper had long since been taking care of your grave after Kirishima’s final visit. The last thing he had left for you was a velvet box, a rather beautiful ring sat inside. A firm metal box and some rather intense melting of the metal on the bottom had kept it in place; an extra level of security keep his gift safe from thieves.
His final words to you were simple.
"Wait for me y/n.”

Set It Up – A kinda but not really Klaroline Fusion (like all my different fusions)
Caroline Forbes and Klaus Mikaeslon are working as assistants to the most demanding, rival NBA bosses in New York. From Macy’s to Madison Square Garden to the MGM Grand in Las Vegas can they stop bickering long enough to come together to make their lives easier?
All I do is Win
151 W 34th Street, New York, NY
"Before you say anything,” he offered, holding his hand up to silence her. “He actually tried to fire a mailman today.”
He being Mason Lockwood, the Brooklyn Nets owner. He was also notorious for being an arrogant, demanding bastard and then some.
“And?”
“Mailmen work for the U.S. government!"
“Oh boo hoo, I don’t care, Mikaelson,” she replied gruffly, equally not caring but also knowing it was true and his boss was an ass.
“Says the girl whose boss could give Cruella De Ville a run for her money.” He wasn’t wrong. New York Knicks boss Katherine Pierce was fierce, feisty and a real bitch at the best and worst of times.
“Exactly why I’m here to claim my blender that you have your grubby paws all over. I called earlier and put it on hold,” Caroline demanded, exhausted from the trek to Macy’s Department Store noticing he was already clutching it possessively.
She took a few seconds to admire that his thieving ass was sort of attractive in that fitted, grey suit even if he didn’t know his proper place.
Five days ago she didn’t even know him but Klaus Mikaelson had made both an immediate and lasting impression on her, and it wasn’t a good one. She had always welcomed competition but his good looks were kind of messing with her resolve.
Bastard.
She had no intention of letting him win.
Ever.
“But your name isn’t on it,” he shot back, refusing to relinquish her property.
“Now, that’s extremely mature,” she scowled. “If I don’t get this exact gift for the Warner wedding my boss is going to kill me.”
Yes, to some it was just your run-of-the-mill gadget that mixed ingredients together. But this wasn’t just any blender. This was the newest, state of the art Vitamix Blender that retailed at a jaw dropping $1198.
It also happened to be the last one left in Manhattan, Caroline knew given just how many stores she’d called in vain. She just hoped the Warners were grateful, if she managed to steal it from his greedy clutches of course.
“My boss will too given it’s a gift for his only sister’s birthday,” he shot back. “If you think I’m going to give up this blender without a fight you’re sorely mistaken.”
Okay, maybe she had forgotten in her haste to put it on hold, oops, but Klaus didn’t have to know that.
“Only because you got caught out breaking the rules because I already put this on hold,” she bluffed, refusing to let him win.
“Okay fine, what do you want?”
“I thought I made myself pretty clear, Mikaelson,” she growled, gesturing towards the blender.
“What else do you want besides this blender?”
They both held each other’s gaze for a full thirty seconds before each finally responded their resolve unflinching.
“Disney on Ice tickets. I hear that the Under the Sea Christmas Spectacular is a huge hit in your borough.” Brooklyn was most definitely a bad word she could never utter.
“Seriously? That’s really what you want?”
“Deathly,” she hit back, rolling her eyes as she did it. “Surely you would have some contacts, you know if you’re actually a good assistant.”
“Because I’m sure Katherine Pierce would love to watch a singing crab and one memory-less fish,” he scoffed.
“She may be the Ice Queen but she also has thirteen impossible and incessant nieces and nephews. And last time I checked all fish were memory-less.”
“Well, then you’ve never met my Marvin.” Caroline was trying to ignore just how adorable he looked defending his goldfish one dimple at a time. “Even so those tickets will cost me more than this blender.”
“Okay, so how about I sweeten the deal with some boxing tickets?”
“Not sure the local boxing round robin is his speed, love, so that’s a definite no.”
“Well, I suppose it’s your loss,” she drawled. “Hand over my blender then, Mikaelson.”
“You’re going to have to make me,” he replied jokingly.
“Real mature,” Caroline reiterated, surprising him and plucking it from his grasp. She couldn’t miss the way his hand felt brushing against hers as she did. “I hope I never have to see your smug ass again.” She stalked away, hips swaying in her wake.
“Until I have to explain the missing blender,” he called out in frustration by way of response.
“Because I’m sure a missing blender is going to be your biggest problem given you turned down Pacquiao vs Broner ringside seats in Vegas.”
She made a mental note in her head. Caroline Forbes 1 - Klaus Mikaelson 0. Suddenly her hellish life as an assistant wasn't so bad if he was suffering too.
4 Pennsylvania Plaza, New York, NY
Klaus Mikaelson was the type to hold grudges. It started when he was six years-old and his younger brother Kol stole his favourite toy and it had only grown stronger and more spiteful in the years afterward.
Caroline Forbes was going to pay. Mainly because his boss hadn’t let him forget how pathetic he was to lose the blender he wanted to ‘a girl’ as he emphasised in air quotes. Klaus was far from chauvinistic and his boss was obviously still living in the dark ages.
Caroline wasn’t just ‘a girl’ she was a pain in his ass and Klaus planned to bring her down and it didn’t hurt that it was her home game either.
Rivals the Knicks and Nets were squaring off at Madison Square Garden and he’d been plotting his revenge ever since their last meeting. Sure, she was kind of gorgeous with those blonde waves and crystal, blue eyes but she was also his devious competition. And she was unrelenting. He had to beat her at her own game and he’d found the perfect way to do it.
“Glutton for punishment hey?”
“Excuse me?” He shot back from their neighbouring, courtside seats. The pre-game arrangements were well underway. “Last time I checked the Nets and their staff have every right to be here, even if it is on enemy territory.”
“Unfortunately, yes,” she growled. “But it’s nice to know you are going down tonight.”
“Have you seen the ladder, Forbes?”
“You are one game ahead, after tonight that won’t be the case,” she scoffed. Klaus took a moment to peruse her outfit before arguing back. Even in her hideous blue and orange jersey she couldn’t help but look stunning. He decided to put it down to the fact her floral perfume was infiltrating his nostrils and messing with his composure.
“Wanna make a bet?”
“I’m pretty good at those but if you’re game.”
“Oh I’m game,” he smirked. “The Nets win you get me those ringside seats in Vegas. And by seats, I’m going to need eight.”
“Wow, someone is wishful thinking, but yeah sure, not that you’re going to win,” she scoffed. “I cannot wait to witness the annihilation, Mikaelson.”
Klaus didn’t even respond, just sent her a teasing glance and made his way to the changerooms to finalise everything. He had a good feeling that his team were going to take the win and Klaus would be on the way to Vegas for the big fight at the MGM Grand. His boss would forget that bloody blender ever existed.
“In your face, Forbes,” Klaus celebrated hours later as the Nets crowd at Madison Square Garden continued to chant well after the final buzzer. She was shocked to say the least, still cute in defeat but he’d never admit it aloud.
“This is all your fault,” she snarled. “You cheated.”
“Last time I checked I wasn’t on the court.”
“Yeah probably a good thing, you’d never actually keep up, lazy bones,” she snorted. “How about that whole surprise pre-game show where number one Nets fans Beyonce and Jay-Z just decided to belt out the Star Spangled Banner from their seats?”
“I had nothing to do with that,” he lied.
“You are the worst liar,” she huffed. “You know just how well it would be received and in turn boost team morale.”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” he bluffed. “The best team on the day won.”
“You are unbelievable,” she scowled. “Must really be desperate given just how much your job depends on it.”
“Is that what you say to make your situation better?” He shot back. “Didn’t think you’d stoop that low, oh hang on that whole blender situation was exactly that.”
“I guess I’m desperate,” she murmured, Klaus couldn’t miss the way her expression seemed so defeated all of a sudden. “My college loans are looming and I may have been a little dishonest under pressure because my boss wants to fire me all the time.”
“Story of my life too believe it or not,” he offered. “If only they could get on with their lives and not focus on every little thing that we do.”
“Hang on,” she murmured. “That might not be the worst idea you ever had, Mikaelson. How about we set them up together?”
“Mason and Katherine? That’s just a recipe for disaster. That much combined combustible energy cannot be safe.”
“Exactly why we have to do it,” she murmured, raising her eyebrows.
“So, I suppose I’ll see you in Vegas then?”
“If you’re lucky,” she chuckled, but given her tone Klaus knew she’d be there no matter what.

“Okay, I sent the fruit basket to her room.”
“Aren’t you a romantic,” she drawled teasingly, barely looking up from her magazine on the bed as he entered. Klaus Mikaelson was the last person she expected to organise that. As much as she was attracted to him, Caroline was seeing no similar interests besides setting up their bosses.
“Please don’t ever call me that. But, last time I checked you’d done absolutely nothing,” Klaus shot back. “And I won the last bet and everything. Time to show you care, Forbes.”
“Like sending an identical one hour massage voucher to both his and her rooms for the same time in the hotel spa?”
“I suppose that’s okay,” he mumbled.
“Why do I get the impression that you don’t like ideas coming from anyone but yourself?”
“Well...”
“It must be all that ego,” she groaned.
“You really do hate me,” he asked incredulously, it was unusual for any female to think badly of him let alone abuse him incessantly.
“For the most part.”
“Wow, aren’t you sweet,” he drawled. “So what are we supposed to do to pass the time?”
“Get your mind out of the gutter,” Caroline shot back. “How about something more intellectual?”
“Wow. Finally something we have in common,” he smirked triumphantly, as she produced a chess board.
“I happened to be chess champion five years running in High School.”
“Well, don’t want all those potential but ignorant suitors knowing that fact,” he chuckled, sending a stray dimple her way. Caroline tried to pretend that it didn’t affect her but everything inside was telling her that it did.
And she was scared of the foreign feelings it had caused.
But in true Caroline fashion she decided to push it aside so she could beat him at chess then deal with the consequences that were threatening to derail her feelings later. She didn’t get that chance though. In fact she was in a more vulnerable position than expected.
“Check Mate,” he murmured, sweeping his queen across the board to take her king.
She was stunned at first mainly because she never lost. Ever. But he seemed to know her and rather than unsettling her it was weirdly okay.
Bastard.
“We have a boxing match to get to,” she responded mechanically. His hand grabbed hers immediately, the warmth spreading through her body. “Need to keep an eye on our bosses after all.”
“Or we could do something else?” He offered, squeezing her hand affectionately. “My siblings are in town tonight but I’m going to warn you they are...”
“Nick’s Fans?” She asked. “I’ve certainly experienced them and worse.”
“You have no idea, in fact I think they’d be perfect company for Katherine and Mason.”
“Why do I get the feeling you don’t care if you lose your job right now?”
“Well, if you knew my brother Kol and his big mouth,” he teased. “But if you’d rather...”
“No, I’m starting to really like your brother Kol.”
“Well. then you’re really going to like my sister Rebekah,” he chuckled. “How about we explore Vegas some more? See what fun we can get up to?”
“I suppose it can’t hurt, right?” Caroline replied.
Famous last words.

Session 3: The Cutlass
I wrote a write up for the last D&D game I was a player for, we’re attempting a duet campaign, so I finally got to play my Evil Aligned Gunslinger Drow character Carric Do’Rae! (Level 4 Rogue with 2 Revolvers found from the Dungeon Masters Guide)
I wanted to post one of the write ups here, i’d keep it under a readmore, but yeah! I added Heroforge figurines to help visualise people and scenes. Carric is a bit edgy and definitely isnt the type of character I go for, I just realised a Chaotic Evil character isnt... fit for most party scenarios. Its got a killer end to the session so if you do feel like reading a session recap written in first person - be sure to read to the end! :D
Session 3: The Cutlass
I surfaced in Southern Luskan, amidst the graves of the dead I rose as the zombies would. I knew The Cutlass was in the south side of town, and under the cover of the midnight moon I stepped out to the streets and hugged the darkness like a shield. I didn't get far before I felt like I was being followed, that hobgoblin from earlier was wreathed in an ominous shadowy cloak, I nodded to him but he seemed intent on getting me back on my mission. Fair enough.
Heading towards the wall I figured I must have been close to the docks, the stench of the muck I was in earlier has washed into the very cobbles that dot the ground in this city. Their stench brought in from seagoers and tradesmen alike, and speaking of them, a sextuplet of ne'er-do-wells approached me reeking of alcohol and rage. I kept to myself but I was more than ready to hit them up the moment they took a step in the wrong direction. They opted to call me out. "Oy! What do you think youre doing walking the streets at this hour?" they queried, slurring their words as they spoke. "I could ask you the same question, do you really want to do this? Incur the wrath of the mighty Spirton Baensek?" I bluffed. They seemed bewildered, the name was shared by someone I would care to forget from my past, but their name became a bit of a personal joke, so i used it. They seemed to ignore the name, and replied in turn with their own - I admit, I wasn't impressed with them in the slightest. At first I took them for a shift of Luskan Guards coming off work, I hadn't seen what they perhaps wore for a uniform so this was the best they had, I mean they appeared to be a Navy division perhaps. But it was evident from their demeanour and their willingness to slash me to death with their cutlasses implied they were Pirates to some degree, once they said they were the So-and-So Pirates, I knew they were little to no threat to me. “Oh! So youre not Luskan Guards? Well that makes this easy!” and With a quick flourish I doffed my cloak and drew my revolvers, I aimed them at the gang.
"Uh oh lads, he's a Wizard," they whispered among themselves "We'd better scram." They began to cower. "Uh - Sorry! Sorry Mr Baensek - we'll be on our way! Don't turn us inside out!". I put my cloak on once more, and motioned for them to clear off, and out of my way. I turned to watch them leave, and out of the corner of my eye I see the Hobgoblin was inches away from sending a deadly arrow into the eyes of their charismatic leader. At least I had a watching angel in case things go sideways. I reached the Inn, a brothel it seemed, brazzieres and bodies were being thrown everywhere upstairs, and stabbings were going on in the lower floor that contained the bar. Quaint. I didnt plan on staying long. There were two tough looking Grunts outside standing guard, I take it they wouldnt like drow - but I wonder about Elves in general. I posed as my Wizard persona Mr Baensek once more and held my tinderbox like a book. Without so much more than a "Get out of here you rapscallion - filthy - no good - snake in the grass - back biting - arrow slingin - stinking ELF" I was sent away like a street rat. Welcoming. Well, I needed to get in, and I didn't feel like waiting outside this location for the next 5 days on the hopes my man Morick wants to pay them a visit, even if I knew what he looked like I'd be up the River Rauvin without a paddle. So I needed a better plan. I took to the thieves highway up on the rooves, hoping to land a shot on one of the bouncers.
Hiding atop a roof, I aimed my Shortbow and took a shot.
His large frame was such a large and easy target.
He dropped like a feather brushed by the wind. Screaming in pain.
Noticing the noise I hightailed it out of there, I had a plan to circle the block and take a similar shot on the other bouncer, who hadn't moved from his post. Dedicated I guess. No one suspected a thing, noone was helping the sod on the floor - this town has been the first I can agree with in a long time. I couldnt quite find my mark on the second bloke, this angle was weird, but I wasnt going to risk being spotted here. I wedged my feet into the beams supporting a drainage pipe and attempted to fire a shot hanging off the side of the building, it was the closest to a sure thing that I had. Something shifted in my weight, and suddenly I realised I was too heavy - but it was too late. I began to fall towards the floor, I didnt want to miss this opportunity, so I aimed my bow while falling, and pincushioned the second bouncer. He dropped like a stone much like the first. But I was falling now, and I was falling fast. Reaching out I managed to grab onto a ledge, and met my falling speed perfectly. In fact It was so perfect that my momentum was held and sent me through the nearest window - waking up the resident of the house, an old man. In bed, barely awake, he begins fumbling for a broadsword under his bed, I was swift in taking his life. I drove my shortsword through his gullet, and he coughed blood everywhere, but it seemed he was not done dying - so to be sure I pulled his covers over him and made sure to stuff his mouth with his sleeping cloth. Meanwhile I could hear outside - the boucners were screaming about "Finding that damned Elf". Looking to the old man's meager table, there was some charcoal and writing paper with scribblings of death threats and extortion papers. I scribbled a note quickly: "Shut up about Elves" - a simple effective note. I tied it to another one of my arrows, and sent it into one of the bouncers who had began to stand. After reading the note he walked over to where I was, calling out to the old man - telling him to knock it off with his notes. This moron was creating such a ruckus, why didn't I just kill them and call it a day? Ugh. Searching around the Old Man's apartment I located the sword he was reaching for, I've never quite held something so hefty - let alone knew how to use it, I threw the sword out over my shoulder, not quite looking at where it would land. As luck would have it, the sword met the mouth of the bouncer quite well. In fact it slid down his gullet like a wet fish, killing him instantly. Bizarre These encounters took me all the way to morning, as I approached the bar it was coming to first light, parting the nightly fog. Stepping over the bodies of the bouncers, I made my way inside The Cutlass. A crew were cleaning up the exploits of last night, a small crew of women in bodices and corsets were on cleanup duty - they quickly tried to shoo me out, telling me to come back at midday when they open again. I had to insist, I was in a hurry to find Morick. I announced my business, that I was after Morick, I had heard he frequented this bar, and that I could find him here. I would be willing to pay for the information, and flicked the Hostess of this Inn a lantanese golden coin. A hush fell upon the room, "oh no, theyre that poor" I think to myself. I reach for my gold bag, and can you believe it, one of the maids were already reaching to grab it! The nerve! I kick the swine in the stomach, and with her out of grabbing distance I draw my Revolver and point it at her head. "You don't want to see what this does" I warn.
With eyes crossed, looking at the barrel, she stands up and begins to shuffle away. The Hostess suddenly straightens herself up, asks her workers to leave us alone - and takes me a little more seriously. I mean, I've come in with some serious money by the sounds - and I am willing to kill on a single attempt at thievery in a town famous for it’s thieves? I'm glad I made that impression, because it was dead on.
I sit at the bar with one hand on my purse, and the other hand on my gun, I couldn’t trust anyone except except my guns - that much I knew. The Hostess takes my measure and inquires what I'm looking for, I repeated that I need to locate Morick and that I was lead here, the rest was a mystery to me. I knew that money talked, so before she could land a deal I placed my price on the table. 5 Lantanese Gold Coins. The gold alone would likely have been enough but that crystal in the Lantanese made them a near collectors item this far from Lantan. I lay them on the bar and pushed them to her, I then made a case for her. "You don't really like this backwash town do you? With this sort of money you could sell this place and head as far as Baldur's Gate, if you fancy. Start up somewhere new, somewhere fresh, away from the grime of this city. I know I won't want to stay long, why should you?" She considered this for a moment, and the reserved look on her face knew it was enough for her, but for good measure to secure accurate information I threw in an extra coin anyway - she could have made an attempt on my life if she wanted, and then I'd have to kill her, so I'm working good faith into her now. In the true illuskan way, she sells her information of Morick as soon as she sees that 6th coin hit the bar.
She told me that he doesnt really come to this bar, but it was a bit of a trap to catch out those who wouldnt know any better, or learn how to be worth his time. Turns out Morick is a big time thief, assassin, and general ruckus-maker. His real haunt was a second location, across from the Winter Palace on the second floor. She warned he was known for his traps, so I should be prepared to dodge or disarm a bunch if I plan to break in uninvited. She then explained that If I were to flash a light at the 2nd story window facing the street, I may be granted entry but I'll need to learn the pattern as it changes every week.
Rats
She then explained that it'll take her a day and a half to skip town, so I'm not to make my move until she's ready. We'll see if I honour that with time. We’ll see if I honour that in time. This whole conversation was observed by the Bard who was sitting on the other side of the bar. I wasnt threatened by his stance, he was idly tuning a fiddle hoping I wouldnt notice him, I wager. He has been checking out the bag of Gold I have swaddled to my person. I turn to him, and address him directly. "Bard, I'll give you some of this money if you write a song about me - detail the fearsome might of the dreaded Gunslinger, Carric Do'Rae".
"... Sir... pardon... but what is a Gunslinger?" he said, quivering almost. At this point, one of the bouncers who were bleeding out just an hour earlier came to, and woke up. " YOU! " he screamed, pointing at me. He began to charge across the room at a breakneck pace.
While not breaking eye contact with the bard, I raise my right Revolver over my shoulder, and with a BANG I plant a bullet between the eyes of the brute, killing him instantly.
"... That's a Gunslinger"

A Different Mask
Hi this is bad but I'm posting it anyway -- The world of the Phantom Thieves was a hilly one. There were challenges and calm, dangers and warm moments. But all the Phantom Thieves had one thing in common: they went through their pain together. They had been there for each other when nobody else possibly could be. When one Thief couldn't be there, there was always another to help with whatever pain one had. They were, as they say, thick as thieves. All the Phantom Thieves had reached one unconscious conclusion, as well: none of them had been through as much as their leader. They all agreed on it, even if they didn't know it. Akira Kurusu deserved the world. -- The group would always be there for each other. Akira knew that fully well. Yet he never leaned on them when things got rough in his head. They all relied on each other, but Akira couldn't bring himself to put his problems on their shoulders. Whenever his confidence wavered in a Palace, the team was always hyping him up. But that's all they saw. They didn't see his emotions outside the Metaverse. Those were his only secret. They didn't know about his nightmares. They didn't know the reason he listened to all of their problems was so they didn't end up like him. He wanted them to have someone to turn to. So he locked his feelings away to be the cool and collected leader he was. Supposedly. He kept his trauma inside. He kept the anger he felt when his friends were taunted and teased contained. He tried to make the comments from the kids at Shujin go in one ear and out the other. Whenever someone looked at him with that look of disapproval, he oh so tried to shake it off. But it all made him have days where everything just felt... numb. Like nothing he did mattered. These days were the days he thought about betrayal. Where he thought about his friends leaving him behind. Abandoning him. Akira Kurusu was scared. Today was a day where his feelings slipped themselves into every crack of his thoughts they could find. They partially distracted him at school, made his comments to his friends sound half-hearted when he truly meant them, kept his responses to Sojiro short, and made him reluctantly obey Morgana when he told him to sleep. "Hey, Akira, what'd you get on the third question of the test? I put B, but I'm not very confident in my answers," Ann sighed, resting her head on her hand. She had her mouth in a pout with her genuine look of unconfidence. "I got B, too," Akira responded. He sounded uninterested, but he really wanted to boost Ann's spirits. "Oh, great!" Ann said with a smile. "That makes me feel better." She spun back around when the next teacher walked in the room. He didn't miss her look of slight concern while she turned. "Welcome back. How was school?" Sojiro asked when the bell rang above the door to LeBlanc. "Good, as always," Akira responded, it didn't come out as he intended it to. Sojiro just laughed softly, "An answer I'd expect from you." He frowned as Akira moved towards the stairs, absentmindedly wiping away at a glass. "So, you ready to go to bed?" Morgana asked later. "Yep," Akira replied, sliding under the covers. "I'm tired." "For once," Morgana said sarcastically. "Goodnight." "Goodnight," Akira turned on his side and shut his eyes. He didn't see Morgana jump on the bed and give him a worried look. He just felt him curl up next to him and release a sigh. -- Akira had a nightmare. He was back in Okumura's Palace. A crowd of worker robots surrounded him and his friends. They had nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. They fought and they fought to no avail. Akira had to watch as his friends fell around him, one by one. Ann was bleeding from a wound on her head. Makoto's arm was broken at the elbow, told by it's odd angle. Yusuke was so beaten he couldn't stand. Futaba was trapped outside the circle, not hurt but in danger. Morgana was struggling to stay conscious. Ryuji's leg had given out on him due to the stress. Haru was standing mostly uninjured, but her father's shadow was pestering her with "Okumura Daughter" duties. Akira was helpless he couldn't do anything. He was exhausted. He fell to his knees. "This is what brats like you get for meddling in the wrong business," Okumura walked to Akira. "You get beat." There was a gun shot, but Akira missed it. He woke with a start. He was shaking. He felt lightheaded. He couldn't focus. He pulled his knees to his chest and squeezed them tight. He didn't notice Morgana stir next to him. Morgana didn't move. He didn't want to move. He didn't want to risk Akira's panic getting worse. Instead he just pretended to shift in his sleep. Akira's shaky hand reached for the windowsill. He grabbed his phone and checked the group chat. Nobody had said anything since their final goodnights. He wanted to talk with someone, anyone. But who would be awake at this time of night? He gave in. Akira: Is anyone awake? Ryuji: yeah Ann: yep Futaba: mhm Yusuke: Yes. Haru: I am. Makoto: So we're all awake at this ungodly hour? Ryuji: i couldnt sleep Ann: Me neither Ann: I keep falling asleep and waking up again Haru: I get how you feel, I was just thinking of texting you all myself. Yusuke: I am only awake because Futaba is keeping me up with her constant messaging. Futaba: this is important stuff im sending you! Yusuke: You are sending me pictures of foxes in costumes. Futaba: EXACTLY Makoto: So in one way or another... We all are having a struggle with sleeping. Ryuji: thats what it looks like Ryuji: aww man i wish we could meet up Ryuji: im not even sure if i feel tired anymore Ann: I mean, it's almost 5, we could meet up anyways? Makoto: When did everyone go to bed? Ryuji: 10 Ann: 9:45 Haru: Nine 'o clock. Yusuke: Eleven Akira: 10:30 Futaba: ive taken naps throughout the day so im not really tired Makoto: I see. Makoto: Well, I guess we all got reasonable hours of sleep. Makoto: I will permit this once, and only because we are all in the same boat here. Ryuji: all right! Ann: Yes! I've always dreamed of doing something like this! Yusuke: Where should we meet? Ryuji: how about Akira's place? is that ok? the place doesn't open until 8, right? Akira: Yeah, it should be fine. Haru: What about Mona? Is he awake? Akira poked the cat with his finger. His hand still felt slightly shaky, but he was calming. Morgana meowed in reply, but rolled onto his side to look up at Akira. Akira: He's up. Futaba: Great! See you all there! Akira sat his phone screen down on his bed. Morgana now laid on his stomach, his tail swishing around. "What's up?" he asked drowsily. "Everyone's coming over. No one could sleep except you," Akira replied, semi-sarcastic. "Ok, might wanna fix that bedhead of yours a bit, though," Morgana replied. -- Futaba was quick to hop onto Akira's bed, sitting criss-cross for once. Ryuji sat on one end of the couch and Ann on the other, stretching her legs out across Ryuji's lap. Makoto and Haru sat on the floor by the sofa. Yusuke simply took a chair. "Man, I'm glad to be outta my house. There was no chance of me sleepin' anymore," Ryuji groaned. "Every time I shut my eyes, they just wanted to open again," Ann complained through a partial yawn. "I would fall asleep for an hour at a time. It's rare I sleep like that," Haru shook her head. "Do we all have something on our mind that's keeping us up?" Makoto questioned why this was happening. "Umm... not that I can think of," Ann answered. "There's nothing that would keep me up at night except Futaba," Yusuke commented. "Shut it, Inari," Futaba responded. Akira fumbled for words. He ran a hand through his hair in thought. While the others maintained a steady conversation on sleep habits, Akira was lost in his thoughts. He wanted to tell them. He didn't want to keep his emotions a secret anymore, they deserved to know. They cared about him and should know when he's feeling down. But how could he start? He didn't have to. "Akira? You ok?" Morgana asked, tail swishing. "You look kind of out of it." "Now that he mentions it, ya do, dude. What's up?" Ryuji is quick to follow up. Akira hesitates, "There... There's something I need to tell you all." Akira talked the most he had ever talked at once then. He told them about his nightmares of losing them and everything he's ever known. He told them about his emotions building up and how he felt like crap on those certain days. He poured his heart out in a matter of minutes because he wanted to stop hiding this. He wanted to stop being scared. He talked about the trial and being sent to Tokyo by his parents and how it made him feel so... abandoned. Betrayed. "Akira... You know you can talk to us, man," Ryuji was frowning though he was definitely concerned. "Yes, you will always be one of us," Yusuke spoke, sitting on the edge of his seat. "Mhm, text me whenever and I'll be sure to respond!" Futaba nodded encouragingly. "We will always be there for you, Akira," Makoto had slid closer and placed a hand on his knee. "Wherever we may be, we will always be willing to talk." Akira felt his hands get shaky again. But there was no fear or panic this time, just relief. They still saw him as Joker, their leader. Their tactician. Their friend. "I never would have known this affected you so much if you hadn't told us," Ann frowned guiltily. "Yeah, I feel bad," Ryuji looked sad. He faced Akira seriously. "Just worry about yourself, man, before you worry about what others say." "They don't know you like we do, anyways," Futaba added. Akira nodded. His face was hot. He was struggling to keep his shaky hands under control. He felt tears welling behind his eyes. Why was he still trying to keep his emotions in? "I'm glad you told us about this," Haru smiled at him warmly. "You can surely rely on us as much as we have relied on you, leader," Yusuke says assuringly. Futaba quickly hugged Akira's arm when he began to cry. It ended up with all of the Phantom Thieves on or around his bed. Ann was on his other side, head on his shoulder. Ryuji sat on the other side of Futaba, his hand lingering close to Akira. Makoto was kneeling in front of him, clasping a hand in both of hers. Yusuke and Haru sat in chairs on either side of her, leaning in close to fill the circle. Akira's free hand was on his face, wiping away tears that kept being replaced. Morgana squeezed in and curled up in his lap, nudging him with his nose. "We're a team, Akira. Teammates never leave another behind," he said, closing his eyes. The Phantom Thieves of Hearts had always had one thing in common: they shared their pain together. And they all awakened to one more thing; Akira Kurusu deserved the world.

Chapter 4: Getting Personal
+Yuu+
Kota lead the way to the bar and picked a place for all of us to sit. Kota and I sat down beside each other with Dakota on the other side of Kota. Sariel looked a bit displeased by it all before sitting down between Dakota and I. A nice lady came up to us and brought us all a water to drink and a menu.
“Can i get you something to eat?” she asked and looked between us all.
“Your best fish meal for me please.” I smiled up at her and she wrote something down.
“Tomato and herb soup please.” Sariel spoke sweetly to her and handed back the menu she gave him. She nodded and wrote his order down.
“Just a salad please.” Dakota said and handed her the menu back as well.
“Roast plate for me.” Kota grinned and handed back the final menu. The woman smiled and left soon after. “Yuu, would you happen to have anything to make a protective barrier?” he turned to me and put an elbow on the table and his cheek in his hand.
“Hmm.” I hummed softly and put my hand up to my mouth, “i think so, i’’ll have to check when we get back to the room.”
“Thanks, id do it myself if body snatcher didnt snatch my body and split my magic.” He groaned a bit.
“How many times do i have to say it isnt my fault?” Dakota put her head down on the table. Sariel patted her back a bit to comfort her.
“Until i get my body back thats when.” Kota stuck his tongue at her and she groaned more.
“What magic are you using to put up this barrier?” Sariel asked and leaned back into his chair a bit and crossed his arms.
“No magic.” I purred, “I dont possess much magic in me, i specialize in alchemy but mainly poisons.”
“And that will help you make a barrier?” Sariel raised his brow and lowered his head a bit.
“Do you know protective glyphs and wards over there mr.Angel man.” I asked and leaned on the table with my hands under my chin.
Sariel paused and glared at me. “No. i dont.” he said low and angry.
“And Kota is splitting his magic with dakota, so my alchemy is best we got at the moment.” Kota and Dakota snickered a bit beside me as Sariel slumped in his chair.
“How come you dont have a lot of magic, yuu?” Dakota asked and turned to face me.
I shrugged a bit and smiled, “Dont really know, i just cant use my magic as freely as say Kota can. Mine is a bit more...limited in a since. Its hard to explain.”
“His magic is for hidden badass moments or to turn into a cat of some form.” Kota put a hand on my back and patted me.
“I guess that explains it a bit more.” I laughed and shoved his hand off my back.
Our food arrived and we all stopped talking so we could it. Kota, Sariel and i all took our time and were amazed at how fast Dakota ate a salad. It was a pretty basic normal salad but she ate it was faster than the rest of us could even eat our food, and Kota and i were use to eating while on the move. Sariel couldnt take that long to eat soup unless he was just stupid slow at it.
“Uh how are we going to pay?” Dakota leaned in and whispered low.
Laughing a bit, “dont worry, i got paid on my job today so its all good.” I patted her shoulder. I got up and pulled the money pouch i had tied around my waist off and walked over to a counter with a man standing behind it and paid for everyone’s meal.
Kota and the other two waited for me at the stairs before proceeding up them. Kota walked into our room first and moved all of our belongs around so they were placed neatly in a corner.
I grabbed my bag that had a bunch of my vials and potions in them and sat on the floor. Pulling various things out of it. Kota sat on the bed closest to me and watched while Sariel sat on the other bed. Dakota sat in front of me and watched as well.
“Hm, im finding all sorts of things that i forgot i had or misplaced, but cant find what Im looking for.” I was pulling various sized bombs, vials, pouches, and other assorted things out. I looked up to see Dakota reaching for something, “I’d be careful with that Dakota, thats a very deadly powder.” I smiled up at her and she pulled her hand away.
“I wouldn’t touch Yuu’s things, he’s smacked my hand a lot for it.” Kota chuckled from above us.
Dakota looked up at him, “why?”
“Because it can either kill you or cause you a lot of pain and maybe some missing limbs.” He said calmly.
“Is he legally able to carry that kind of stuff?” Sariel asked with a slightly urked and curious tone.
My ears twitched and i looked up at Kota then at Sariel. “Hmmmm, probably not but im careful with my things.” I turned and looked back through my bag. “AHA Found it!” i held up a flask.I got up and grabbed the do not disturb sign on the inside of the door and put it on the outside of our doorknob before closing the door. “Now, you all have to promise me, you wont leave this room.”
“I promise.” Kota smiled.
“Why?” Sariel asked and Dakota looked just as confused as he did.
“Because this is a powder, that it isnt harmful to smell but it will activate at the contact or motion of it being swept away to cause a break in the line im going to make under the door and windows. So if you dont break it, we’re fine, thus means you cant leave.”
“Im confused.” Dakota groaned a bit and got up and sat beside Kota.
“Its alright, i dont need you to understand it, just promise you do as i ask you.” I smiled at her and turned around to leave a bit of a trail by the door that if the door opens it will move the powder. “If this gets activated, the building will fill with a poisonous gas and we’ll either die or be evacuated.”
“That isn’t safe at all!” Sariel complained and watched as i moved to the windows.
“Then dont leave!” I turned and purred loudly with a smile. “I’ll be able to get it up in the morning just fine, but if you wake up before, you cant leave this room without waking me.” I turned back around and left a trail along the windows.closing the cap i put the flask on a table by our belongings. “We should be fine, and if someone comes in, Kota or i will usually wake up and be aware of it.”
“You said usually. You are also implying that is not always the case. What happens if no one wakes up?” Sariel groaned and put his hand over his eyes.
Jumping on the bed with Kota sitting on it, “then we’re dead and thats the end of our adventure.”
“You are so sadistic yet such a cute looking person.” Kota laughed, “and i love it honestly.”
“Thank you!” I purred happily. “It is getting late too, we should go to bed and get some sleep. So….who’s sleeping with who?”
“I nominate myself and Yuu to sleep with body snatcher in our animal forms.” Kota smirked at me and then looked at Sariel.
“I agree!” I nodded and also turned to look at Sariel.
He had a very bored yet displeased look on his face. “Fine, i can't argue with this too much given what we have. Plus I’m not a very…..fun to person to sleep beside.”
“Aw why? Do you kick?” Kota started chuckling to himself.
“No, fleabag.” He groaned, “My wings.”
“Oh, Yeah do you know magic to get rid of them?” Dakota asked as she crawled up onto the bed and between Kota and I. “I can only imagine that you can.”
“I can,” he paused and grumbled, “I just dont like to. It’s unsettling to me, and i feel….vulnerable.” his wings twitched at the mention of it all and they dropped a bit behind him.
“It’s all okay, we’ll understand.” Dakota smiled at him, “i can see how you dont wanna be in pain sleeping with someone either.” she yawned.
“We should sleep so our magic can restore itself.” Kota poofed into his fox form and soon after Dakota’s body changed into Kota’s body. “We’ll need you rested for tomorrow.”
“Sounds good.” Dakota yawned again, louder and longer this time.
Using my small amount of my own magic, i poofed into my little cat sized form next to Kota. Extending my front legs forward and my lower half sticking up in the air, “i haven’t been in this form for a while.” my voice was now kind of squeaky like Kota’s was. I shook my body, ruffling up my fur and sitting up straight.
“Oh my god!!” Dakota squealed a bit given that her voice was now Kota’s voice. She put her hands on my sides and lifted me up off the bed and into her arms, nuzzling my cheek with her’s. “You’re so cute!”
Purring loudly, i nuzzled my face against her’s more. “Thank you!” i licked her cheek slightly and she started scratching my chest. Dropping my head back, i purred loudly.
“You’re too into that, Yuu.” Kota chuckled lightly with his squeaky voice.
“I like how she pets me!” I perked up and turned to kota, “she actually knows how to love a cat gently! Those other people always pet me too hard.” I fidgeted and jumped out her arms and onto the bed. “You never get to be the distraction.”
“Because you do it so well.” Kota wiggled his body a bit, the pounced on top of me, “you’re just so cute! And you’re purple and white, you’re easily noticeable while i’m all black and can be sneaky.”
I stuck my paws up and put them on his fluffy chest, trying to push him off of me. “I think women would love to pet you too. Plus i can get away with so much more because i am cute and people love cute cats.”
“The fact that you’re both thieves does not make up for how cute either of you can be.” Sariel walked across the room turning off all the lights. Once the lights were off, the sound of the other bed squeaking under his weight was the only noise before he spoke, “im going to bed. Good night.”
“Good night, Sariel.” Dakota spoke softly and crawled under the blankets.
“Night!” Kota and i squeaked and got on either side of Dakota’s body and curled up next to her on top of the sheets.

-Sariel-
“Wake up!” I heard the little squeaky voice of the black fox, while there were little paws bounced on my shoulder. “Oh. he’s awake.” Kota snickered and then jumped off of me and his little body hit the ground and he trotted to the other bed. “Wake up body snatcher!”
Sitting up on the bed I turned to look over at the little fox as he bounced and pressed his little feet into Dakota. Similar to how foxes would jump and stick their noses into a hole looking for food. Turning my head i looked to see Yuu, in his human form, cleaning up the powder he laid down last night.
“Good morning, Sariel.” he said sweetly and put the cap on his flask and moved to their bags.
“Good morning.” I groaned and got off the bed, stretching my arms over my head then my wings.
“She’s up!” Kota bounced off Dakota and onto the floor, “cmon, time to be a lady!”
Dakota threw the blankets off her body and the black hair that was Kota’s was all sorts of crazy and wild. “Mm, morning to you too.” she mumbled and stretched.
Kota and Dakota took the quick moment to change forms. While Yuu and I gathered our belongings. We made a bag for Dakota so she had any womanly needed things with her, with some small easy first aid things as well as some food and water in case we got separated.. We headed to the bar for a quick breakfast and checked out when we were done eating.
“We need to get some other supplies.” Yuu slung his bag over his back, “i need ingredients that we’re running low on.” he pulled out a small scrap of paper from his pocket, “few things we can either get out in nature and hunt for them, or just take a quick trip to a herb shop.”
“Anything expensive?” Kota asked and threw his arm over Yuu’s shoulder.
“No nothing too expensive.” he was still looking at the little piece of paper and they talked to themselves as we walked.
Looking down at Dakota, I held my hand out to her, “i’ll carry your bag for you if you like.”
“Oh um, thank you, but it’s not that heavy so I can carry it.” she looked up at me real quickly before looking ahead at where we were walking.
“Of course, if you ever need help dont be afraid to ask.” I smiled lightly down at her.
“Can you carry a backpack given you have….wings?” she looked behind her at my wings as they stayed tucked nicely behind me.
“I dont have to carry it on my back to be able to carry something for you.” i chuckled a bit, “we are taught at young ages to carry things in different ways because we do have wings. As children its easier to carry bags on our back, but as we grow it becomes harder.”
“Love birds! This way! We’re stopping in here.” Yuu shouted from the door of a small little shack, with Kota beside them and they both walked in.
Dakota blushed red then jogged up to the building and went in after them. I stayed by the doorway on the inside because everything looked so close together, and i didn’t want to knock anything over because of my wings. Yuu was walking around the shop and grabbing everything he needed.Kota and Dakota would play around or look at other things while Yuu shopped. He paid for the things and talked to the shop owner.
“Are you young ones going into the woods?” an elderly woman came out from the back.
“Ah, yes, actually we are why?” Yuu put the things he had purchased neatly in his bag.
“There is an herb that grows out there, would you four be willing to grab some for me if i were to reward you?” she sat down on a stool. “Me and my husband are too old for this and our children are grown and gone.”
“Um.” Yuu looked back and Kota and he shrugged, “may i ask what the reward is?”
“We don’t have much, but if you bring some back to us. I’ll give you something that is much rarer then what i am asking for.” she smiled, “its a plant thats hard to find and only blooms after several years.” she extended a hand to Yuu and he took her hand, “you seem like a smart young man who knows how to use plants for various things, I’ll give it to you for free, given no one else wants it.”
Yuu looked back at Kota with his ears perked up, and chuckled and shook his head, “Sure, we’ll go find it for you”
“Thank you all.” she smiled, “take your time and be careful, creatures lurk in those woods.”
“We will ma’am, thank you.” Yuu shook her hand and received a paper from the woman. We were allowed to leave most of our belongings with the couple and brough only what we needed and a bag to carry the plant in.Once we were in the woods, Yuu pulled out the paper once more, “she says what we’re looking for will look like this.” He held out the paper to us too look at, “She said it’s fairly scattered around and we should keep our eyes open.”
“Do you know what we’re looking for?” Dakota made her way around the paper and got between Yuu’s arms too look at it.
“Its a plant used for health. It can be made into a tea and helps clean out the body. It can be used as an ointment too for wounds, and various other things to improve your body.”
“Should we grab some for ourselves?” Kota asked as he stood a bit away from everyone.
“It wouldn’t hurt but lets get as much as we can for them, just so they dont have to come out her themselves later.” Yuu rolled up the paper and stuck it in his back pouch.
“Im fine with that, but lets all stay close together.” I mentioned and looked down at Dakota, “I don’t believe she knows how to fight incase something does come at us.”
“Are you assuming just because i’m a girl means that I don’t know how to fight?” she puffed her cheeks and put her hands on her hips.
“Oh not at all.” i smirked at her, “Ive had many female trainers who can beat the male trainers, by no means am i assuming its because you’re a woman.”
“Then what is it?” She huffed loudly.
“Its the fact that you physically dont look like you can fight…..Well.” i crossed my arms and stared down at her.
“I’ll fight you.” she got really close to me and stood up on her toes to get as close to eye level as she could with me.
Still looking down at her just a bit, “Bring it, i’ll teach you how to fight.” I smirked. Kota and Yuu started snickering to themselves, and covered their mouths when i looked over at them. Dakota had her little cheeks all puffed out and her small hands in fists by her side as she bounced on her toes a bit. “You’re face is turning blue, i advise you breathe.” I pushed her cheeks in softly and made her blow out air.
“I’ll show you I know how to hold my own in a fight Sari.” she had much determination in her voice and held her body stiff.
“Whatever you say, my lady.” chuckling to myself, i turned and walked away from her, “Also,” I held a hand up, “Dont call me Sari.”
“I’ll call you Sari if I want to mister.” she mumbled and jogged up behind me.
We stayed as a group through our walk in the woods, but Dakota would be just a bit behind us sulking a bit or struggling with getting over large roots or logs. She’d often reject my assistence to help her get over a log or around something. Kota and Yuu were mainly the ones finding the plant the woman asked for, They seemed to grow in larger clusters under things such and in shaded areas. Most of the time it was Dakota getting on her hands and knees, fitting into the small spaces that the three of us couldnt. Yuu would usually be beside her to help on his knees. Dakota would often have her bottom up in the air and Kota would start snickering and trying to get my attention to look. I kept my back to both them and waited for them to get up and put the plant in the bag that i was given to carry. Kota and Yuu would go and get the herb when it wasnt in a small space, and Dakota would be left to get it if it were in a tight spot.
“Do you hear something?” Kota stopped and his ears twitched side to side.
“Hmmm.” Yuu hummed and tried to listen in as well, “no not really, why?”
“I hear rustling but i dont know where is coming from?” He mumbled and looked up and around.
“Do you think its someone following us or just an animal?” I asked and dropped the bag by my feet.
“I dont know….” he trailed off and he turned around and his ears went back and his eyes wide, “D-Dakota!” he mumbled, “Dont move.” Yuu and I both looked backwards and saw Dakota standing on a large root that stuck out from the ground.
“What?” she looked up at all of us. A large species of bird, swooped down from the tree above her and snatcherd her up with its legs. She started screaming when she realized she was snatched and the bird took her up above the trees.
“aaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!” Kota and Yuu both started screaming, “S-Sariel GO GET HER!!” Kota looked at me with his ears back and pointing up where the bird had taken her.
“Fu-Fine!” I grumbled and dropped everything off me that i didnt need and took off from that spot. Going through the foliage, i got above the treetops and looked around quickly to find the bird, The bird looked to be heading deeper into the forest. Taking off towards the bird, i pulled my staff from the pouch on my thigh and extended it out to its full length. Diving down enough to be beside Dakota. “Dakota, I need you to trust me okay?”
“What?! Why?!” She yelled and still freaked out.
“Just trust me! Please! I’ll catch you.” I fell back and went up to be above the bird’s back and atop its wings.
“WHAT?! CATCH ME?!” She screamed from below.
Landing on the bird’s back. It swayed it’s weight to try and throw me off, making me lose my balance and land on my knees, and causing Dakota to scream more and louder.Standing back up, i took my staff and spun it above my head. Bringing it down on the softest spots of the bird’s wings, or where it would hurt the most to be struck there. The bird let out a loud curling shriek and tilted its body downward from the side I had hit, and let go of dakota. Sliding down its downward wing on its soft feathers, i grabbed onto Dakota’s hand.
“Told you I would catch you.” I chuckled a bit and held her hand above her head.
“Uh Look out!” She pointed upwards.
Turning around to look above me, the bird had its claws coming at my own wings. Pulling Dakota up into my body and holding her close, i just barely got turned around enough before my wing was struck by the talons of the bird. There was enough of a graze to get some contact with my right wing that hurt enough that flying would be difficult. The bird flew beside me with enough force to cause me to bring in my wings so they were going against the air flow. Keeping Dakota close to my body i wrapped my wings around her to shield her from the talons of the bird. It hit me with its wing hard enough to send us spiraling down through the trees. My back hitting several tree branches and breaking them with our weight combined.
We landed in a small ditch that caused my wings to be very close to the edges and i landed on my shoulders. My back just barely in a muddy puddle and my legs against the wall like my wings were. Keeping my arms around Dakota, i held her close to my body. Waiting to see if the bird, or anything dangerous, was coming to the ditch we fell in. It was silent for a few moments, so i let go of Dakota.
“Are you okay?” I asked and dropped my arms beside my body.
“Yes.” she mumbled and sat up pressing her small hands to my chest and sitting up against my legs. She looked up and around her. “Oh no nononono.” She started mumbling, and tried standing up. Her feet just barely stood on my wings as the rest of her feet were in the water. “We have to get out.” she tried to climb out and just ended up slipping and landing on top of me.
“Dakota.” I groaned as she kept slipping and stepping on me.
Looking up at her she looked to be freaked out, tears on the edge of pouring out. She was mumbling to herself, saying how she has to get out and she didn’t like being in such a tight spot.
“Dakota.” I put a hand on her knee as she stood up, she didnt hear me and tried to find another way out. “Dakota.” I spoke a bit louder and she didnt hear me. “Dakota!” I reached up and grabbed her by the back of her thighs and pulled her down onto me again. Her knees pressed to my wings and her hands in the water beside my head, she looked down at me with wide eyes, tears at each corner. “You can’t get out alone, and i cant help you given you are on top of me and this ditch is small.” I groaned in pain as her knees pressed into my wings a bit more. “So if you would please calm down and just sit still.”
Her body trembled and little tears rolled down her cheeks, “I’m sorry Sari, I didn’t mean to. H-How do you want me to sit so I’m not hurting you?”
Taking my hand off her legs, i ran my thumb on her cheeks and wiped the tears away, “just sit.” I spoke softly and put my hands on her hips. She sat with her back against my legs and her legs were pressed softly into my leg this time with her weight being on my lap. She ran her hands on her eyes. “Try to breath for me please.”
“O-okay.” she hiccuped and took deep breaths, “im sorry.”
“Dont be sorry.” I put my hand on her thigh. “Just look at me and focus on breathing.” she sniffled and nodded. Her body still trembled, lighter this time and she clutched my shirt with her free hand. “Is there anything i can do?”
“I-i dont know.” her voice was shaky, and she looked up slightly.
Taking a hand off her leg, i reached up and put a hand on her neck, pulling her face down to look at me. “Look at me, Dakota.” I smiled softly at her, “Only look at me, okay.”
She sniffed a bit and took in a deep breath, “Can i hug you?” she spoke softly.
“Yes, you can.” I brushed her cheek with my thumb again.
She leaned down, her face against my chest and her arms around me as much as she could given my back was in a puddle. Putting my arms around her, i had one one her back and the other in her hair, stroking her hair softly. “I’m sorry for calling you Sari. I didn’t mean to make you mad or upset you if I did.”
“You didn’t make me mad.” I spoke softly and rubbed her back. “I just dont hear anyone ever call me things like that.” I shifted my shoulders around, “if you enjoy calling me that, or it makes things easier. Please by all means call me what you want.”
“I’ll only call you Sari if we’re alone. You don’t need to have the other two snickering.” she chuckled a bit against my chest.
“I dont mind what they do or think. If it makes you feel better i dont mind.” i rubbed off some mud of her legs. “Things like that dont bother me.” i brought my hand back up to rub her back.
She picked her head up a bit and smiled,“Then you have to let me repay you for saving me. I just feel so pathetic. I can’t hold my own for very long in a fight against you and then I go and get snatched by some bird.” she started to cry a bit again and her voice was shaky as she took her hand and cleaned some mud off of my face.
Tucking her hair behind her ear and away from her face. “You dont have to repay me.” i plucked some leaves out of her hair and clothing, “You arent pathetic either. You handled that better than i would have thought.” I smiled up at her, “I can teach you how to fight so you can protect yourself later.”
“But, I don’t want to be a bother and we have that mission that your queen gave us.” she started speaking faster this time.
“Dakota.” I chuckled to myself, “my queen doesnt expect us to get this done with quickly. She has her reasons for this mission.” I reached a hand up and touched her cheek. “So relax, please.”
“BODY SNATCHER!!!”
“SARIEL!!”
Yuu and Kota’s voice yelled over head at a distance and the sound of ruffling bushes was faint behind the yelling.
She sat up and put her weight back on my lap,“We’re over here!!” she yelled up cupping her mouth.
Kota and Yuu popped their heads over the ledge of the ditch, and Kota started snickering. “Oh my god, are you two okay?” Yuu asked.
“Could be better.” Dakota laughed nervously.
“Lets help you get out!” Yuu smacked Kota and they both stood up. Dakota stood up and was careful to not step on my wings. Extending her hands up Kota was leaned in the ditch while yuu helped pull them both over and out. “Do you need help, Sairel?” Yuu asked and came back to the ledge.
“No i should be fine.” I looked around at my body and the position i was in, “Possibly.” putting my hands under my body as best i could, i slid up so my back and wings were now pressed to the muddy wall of the ditch and my feet were in the puddle. Keeping my wings close to my body, i grabbed onto a piece of dry earth that stuck out a bit. Dakota had her hand extended downward to me with a smile on her face. Taking her hand in mine, i grabbed her upper arm as well and got my feet on the ledge. Kota and Yuu helped pull Dakota back or keep her stable as i pushed off the wall and climbed up and out. I got my torso out of the ditch and on the ledge. Yuu and Kota grabbed me by my arms and helped pull my body the rest of the way out.
“You okay?” Dakota asked as she cleaned her hands of mud.
“Yes.” I groaned and stretched my arms over my head, popping my shoulders. Bringing my arms down in front of me and caving inwards i popped my spin close to my neck, rolling my neck side to side and cracking it. Pushing my hands against my lower back, i leaned backwards and popped my spine all the way down. Turning side to side and extending my wings, i cracked them as well and my hips.
“Oh my god, Sariel!” Dakota sounded so upset, “I am so sorry!D o you want a massage? I know how to give good massages.””
“I’m fine, Dakota.” I looked back behind me and looking at my right wing and trailing down to about the tip of my wing where there is still flesh. There was a bit of blood under all the mud that was caked on my wings.
“Did that bird get you? Can you still fly?” She sounded nervous, coming up to touch my wing just around the cut.
“I’ll be fine once it heals, it might sting a bit if i fly too much.” i mumbled to myself. Then look at her, “and no thank you, i dont need a massage.”
“We can maybe as the nice old lady to make you an ointment with the plant we found her.” Yuu held up the bag. “Lets go back and get you patched up.”
We took the trip back to the small shack that the elderly couple owned. The woman made a quick ointment and applied it to my wing and wrapped it up nicely for me.She gave Yuu the reward she promised and gave him a small journal on various remedies for how thoughtful we were on giving her so much of what she asked for. We grabbed our belongings, said our farewells to the couple and headed out of the town. We walked several miles before it got too dark and we picked a place to stay. We set up by a waterfall in a cave that was large enough for us to move around comfortably and we didnt sleep too close to each other. Kota and Yuu took the trip back in their animal forms to town to get more food for dinner and other things.
“Mind if I go wash up in the waterfall?” Dakota mumbled and blushed a bit.
Looking down at her, i eyed her up and down at how badly she was covered in mud. “By all means, please go take your time. I’ll wait here until you’re done.”
“Thanks. Ill be out soon so you can clean up.” she dug through some of our belongings looking for a rag.
Taking the sash off my waist i held it out to her. “Use that as a towel.”
“But thats your sash.” she looked at it then up to me again. “I dont wanna get it dirty.”
“Please it’s already messy, you’ll be fine to use it to clean off your body. I dont mind, the sash holds no value.” I put the sash in her arms and pushed her gently off to the waterfall. “Yell if you need help.”
“I won’t be long, I promise.” She smiled and jogged to where the waterfall would be.
I stood waiting around our belongings for Kota and Yuu to come back. They arrived some time after Dakota had left with several things in their arms that looked like extra food and clothing. “Where’s dakota?” Yuu asked.
“She’s washing off in the waterfall just a bit away from here.” I watched them set the things down.
Kota perked up and his ears were up straight. “We should all go clean up, right?” he stood up straight with his ears and facial expression laxed now. “You bond over bathing right?” he turned to look at Yuu with a smirk. Yuu just looked between Kota and I with his ears back and eyes wide.
“If you leave my sight and head for that waterfall, i will knock you out so you wake up next morning.” I said flatly, “she’s a woman, she deserves her privacy.”
Kota smirked widely, “Well fine then, You take her new clothes to her.” he grabbed a extra set of clothing and shoved them into my chest.
I looked at his hands then back at him as he had that smirk on his face. Sighing heavily, “fine.” i grabbed the clothes and took them off my chest, not looking at what the clothing could possibly look like.
“Ah, i can do it if-” Yuu chuckled a bit and kota turned to him.
“You’re going to help me cook yuu!” he threw his arms up, “actually, you’ll cook and I’ll help because you’re better at it then i am.” he sounded like he had a smile on his face.
I turned and left those two to do their own thing and walked in the direction that Dakota did. When the sound of the waterfall came louder and closer, i covered my eyes with my wings and shouted, “Dakota?”
She squeaked lightly, “y-yes?” I heard the splash as if she “ Is something wrong Sariel?”
“Ah no, its just Kota and Yuu bought you extra clothing and i….brought it to you.” I started mumbling, “Is there somewhere you want me to put it?”
“Ah…” she paused, “yeah theres a rock by the edge of the water, can you put it there with your sash?”
“Of course.” I shifted my wings around to keep her out of sight but see the rock she mentioned. It did have my sash draped on it and i walked over to it and neatly put her extra clothes there. “Please do take as much time as you need, im sorry to bother you.”
“N-no no, you’re not bothering me. Thank you for bringing me an extra set of clothes. I’m almost done.” she sounded a bit embarrassed.
“Alright, do you wish for me to stay here with you and walk you back to the camp, or leave you be?” I asked and turned my back to her, and kept my wings around my body.
“If you want to stay, your welcome to. It’s up to you if you would rather go and be with Kota and Yuu.” she sounded less nervous and sounded like she emerged slightly out of the water.
“Then i will head back to the camp and help with dinner. I’ll see you soon.” I took the short walk to the camp and saw Kota and Yuu together. Yuu was sitting by the small pot that was over the fire they made and Kota was squatted down next to him and whispering things too him, Yuu looked like he was laughing. Walking up to them i put a hand on my hip, “Am i disturbing something?” I had a smirk on my face.
“No no, nothing at all. We were just taking bets to see if you would stay with the only women in our group who was kidnapped today to make sure she stayed safe. But it looks like you trust her enough to let her be alone. So, it looks like I won the bet Yuu.” He had a smirk on his face and he turned to Yuu.
“Fiiiine.” Yuu groaned and chuckled to himself.
“Can i know what you two betted?” I crossed my arms over my chest.
“No, thats between us.” Kota smiled wickedly then his ears perked and he looked around, “welcome back, body snatcher!”
I turned around to see Dakota walking up to us with her dirty clothes and my sash in her hands. She wore a blue shirt with the sleeve off the shoulder and a white skirt that was just a bit too high for me to be comfortable with and similar blue thigh high stockings. The thread around the bottom of the skirt was gold color and she had some detail in gold detail around the top that was barely covered by the skirt if by not at all. I stared her up and down and had my mouth open a bit. Kota and Yuu were snickering behind me. “What?” she giggled a bit and asked.
“Nothing, Im going to wash up. Please no one come with me.” I walked past Dakota and turned my body so i didnt bump into her and quickly left the campsite, hearing the other two laughing as i left.
When i made it to the waterfall, i let out a loud sigh and shook my head. Shaking my hands lightly i took off my gold bands on my arm and leg, my accessories and my pouch that held my staff. and put them on the rock that Dakota had pointed out to me.taking off all my clothing, i dropped them on the rock off my accessories. I realized i didnt bring extra clothes, so i’ll just wear my dirty ones back and change when im at the campsite again.
Walking into the cold water, i looked down and saw the moon’s reflection in the water. Shaking my head once more, i walked through the water to the waterfall and stuck my head in under the steady stream. Pulling my head out, i pushed my lavender hair back away from my face. Running my hands on my face i washed off any mud on my face. Turning to the side i stuck my right wing under the water and run my hand on my feathers, cleaning any mud off of it, with my back to where the rock was I heard rustling and turning just a bit to see who it was, but not show my front.
“I um, you forgot your extra clothes, i’m setting them on the rock, kay bye.” It was Dakota and she quickly put the clothes down on the rock and turned around so fast and ran away.
I stared at the rock and then back up to where she would have been. I felt my face heat up a bit and i instantly stuck my head back under the water. I pulled my head back out and pushed my hair “Oh goodness, how much did she see?” i mumbled to myself. If she just saw my back, i wouldn’t have minded it as much, how long had she been standing there? I quickly cleaned up the rest of my body and my left wing.
Getting out, i looked at the clothes neatly placed on the rock. Picking up the shirt, it was a black leather sleeveless shirt with gold lace up over the black on each side of the shirt and on the front of the neck that showed skin, turning it around the back was a black cloth and most of the fabric was missing so my wings could fit through the edges being sewn together with the gold, a zipper on the back of the neck piece and the back of the shirt at the bottom so it could come on from my front and not over my head. Looking down i saw a fresh pair of undergarments on top of black pants that did not look like leather but was a sturdy material, Picking it up and letting it unfold. It was solid black with gold detail up the outer sides, gold and white bands wrapping around the middle of the thigh and half bands going around just the calf. A pair of black ankle boots sat on top the rock as well, with dark gold bottoms. Putting the new outfit on, i realized the pants were tight like my legging and clung close to my body. Putting on my accessories and pouch for my staff, i leaned over the edge of the water and looked at my reflection. My gold bands and necklaces didnt look odd against all the black either, only thing different is i can not wear the sash and metal wings i wrapped it around anymore. I walked back to the camp, seeing Dakota’s back to me as she sat by the fire with Kota and Yuu.
“Welcome back!” Yuu smiled up at me, “you look good in black.” he purred.
“Thank you, but i prefer my old colors over black more.” I walked around Dakota and sat down beside her as she sat on a fallen log. I felt Dakota put her hand on my head and play with my hair. Looking up at her through my bangs, “was there something in my hair?”
“No, i just wanted to touch your hair. You look nice with it all down.” She smiled sweetly at me.
“Ah.” I stared up at her, “thank you.”
“Now since you’re clean, let me give you a back massage!” she stood up and put her hands on her hips.
Her legs were the only things that i could see now that she was standing up. I stood up so i couldnt see under her skirt with one wrong move and got on the log she was just sitting on. “I’m fine dakota, i dont need a back rub.”
“Please.” she whined, “for saving me and what not, please let me get the knots out of your back.”
“Kota and I are going to go wash up, okay.” Yuu popped up and his tail swished side to side, “Cmon Kota.” he bent down and grabbed Kota by the wrist and some of their belongings, “you two have fun, eat as much as you want!”
“Wait why are we going to clean up?” Kota sounded so confused. Yuu looked at him with a wide smirk on his lips and his tail still flicking side to side. He didnt say anything and just proceed with dragging Kota off.
“Pleeeaaaase?” Dakota bent down to my level and had her palms pressed together in front of her face and trying her best to give off puppy dog eyes.
“Will it make you happy to do so?” I raised a brow and eyed her.
“Yes!” she smiled happily. “Most definitely!”
“Fine.” I groaned and stood up. I turned to face her, rolling my shoulders and sticking my my chest out a bit, i felt my wings disappear from my back and the look on dakota’s face made me chuckle, “I’d imagine you’d want me to hide my wings to do this?”
“Uuuh, yeah didn’t think you would do it though.” She mumbled and walked around me and put her soft hand on my back where the wings would have been coming out of.
“I wont have them gone long, they will be right back out as soon as you’re done.” I lowered my body down into the soft grass around the fire and crossed my arms under my head and placed my head on my forearms.
I felt Dakota sit on the back of my thighs and her hands pressed all around my back feeling for knots.her hands felt so small as they roamed my back, working out little knots that she could find. Soft and cold hands pressed into my shoulders and got a few pops out of them that way. “Can I ask what all these marks mean? On your arm, thigh and back.”
I tensed up and turned to look back her, she was sitting on my thighs. Sighing, “I wish you didn’t see my thigh.”
“Why?” she sat up and put her hands on the back of my shoulder getting another pop out.
“Because the ones on my arm and back, i dont mind as much, but my left leg being exposed makes me uncomfortable.” I mumbled, “but to answer your question, they are markings i’ve received as remembers in a way.”
“What does the one on your back mean?” she traced it lightly with her nail, sending a shiver up my spine.
“It means Embrace life.” I moved my shoulders around to make her stop tracing the mark on my spine. “Any others you must know?”
“Yes.” she said quickly and she sat back down on my thighs, “All of them.” she giggled.
Letting out a snort like noise, “really?” I picked myself up a bit too turn my body and look at her. She had a happy smile on her face and her eyes wide with excitement, sighing heavily, “fine from my shoulder down to the back of my hand. Persistence, Encouragement, Nurture yourself, Listen within, Willingness and Thrive in the current moment.”
“And your thigh?” she patted my left thigh. She heard me grunt loudly and pouted, “please.”
Sighing once more, “from my hip down. Patience, Vitality, Authenticity and Fortitude. They all function in ways to remind me how to live life.”
“Were they given to you for a reason?” She asked and rubbed on my back once again.
“I would be given them as i got older at certain ages or if i did something wrong. Say i was being Impatient, i would get my Patience mark.”
“Does everyone get those marks?” she asked and pressed her hands along my spine and then held her hands on the center of my back just under my shoulderblades.
“No, not everyone.” I paused, “only archangels and their children.”
“Oh, im sorry.” she mumbled then pressed her hands against my back more, “Okay, im going to press really hard here and i’ll count to three. On three i need you to breath out, alright?”
“Alright.” I took in a deep breath.
“One…..Two…” she paused and shifted her body, “three.” i breathed out and she pressed her hands into my spine and made a loud pop come from my back.
When i let my breath out, i instantly tensed up and felt my whole spine pop up and down from where she was. Losing concentration on keeping my wings gone they instantly popped back out and laid flat on the ground beside me. My whole body shivered and i dropped my headed into the dirt with my arms above my head, letting out a long groan at the sensation of being so loose now.
“Oh my god, Sariel are you okay?” she got off of me and came around to my front, avoiding my wings.
Grunting and groaning a bit, “yes, im fine, thank you. You just really hit a good spot.”
“Uh, your welcome?” she giggled a bit and kneeled down beside me, “are you okay though?”
“Yes, yes. I just have never felt so loose in so long.”I turned my head so i was now looking at her, “thank you that was greatly appreciated.”
“You two look you had fun.” Kota spoke and Yuu walked around him to put things they had back in their bags. “Did you eat?”
“Uh no not yet.” Dakota stood up and patted off the dirt on her knees. “I was giving Sariel a massage before we ate.”
“Then get up and eat!” Yuu poked at me and then got up to grab two small bowls and handed one to Dakota.
I got up and dusted any dirt and grass of my chest and stood up, receiving the other small bowl from Yuu. We ate together around the fire and mostly listened to what Dakota had to share about where she was from, and how different it was from this place. Yuu seemed most interested in this while Kota and I just seemed to have a hard time believing it. Once we finished up our meal we had everything packed so when we woke in the morning we were ready to grab our things and go. Dakota and kota both changed bodies before we settled down for bed. Dakota and i used sleeping bags while Kota and Yuu slept in Dakota’s bag with her. The night was quite, faint sounds of night creatures roaming around with the waterfall just aways from us pouring with water. It was nice, soothing even. It got all of us to fall asleep fairly quickly.
