Everyone's like "luffy was a minor when they met!" as if "minor" isn't based in law rather than ethics to begin with, and then they're like "but he's not anymore!" when he's literally only nineteen now and Law is 27. I don't understand. I don't get it. Why do we talk about the power dynamics in age gaps as if eighteen is the cutoff when that's literally just US law. Why is someone not an adult 2 yrs ago and now an adult 2 years later. Is it less that we find it unappealing because it would best be approached including the hurdles and difficulty to understand one-another emotionally for two people at vastly different points in their lives, and the actual on screen dynamic doesn't allow for much of that? Or is it that we think we're going to get arrested for shipping?

I just think logan deserves to bottom after 200-ish years of being both touch-starved AND pigeonholed (so to speak lmao) as a strict dom top 🫡
(or so I imagine because cmon. who doesn't expect The Wolverine to be a dominant animal in bed?? give the man a break, wade is more than willing to step up to the plate and help logan catch up on all that time wasted not getting railed to within an inch of his immortal life 😜)
uncensored piece on bluesky (same username) 😘

not going to respond further on the actual post because I don't want to start an argument in my mutual's comments and also the person who left the comment clearly doesnt actually care about it but the experience was so baffling I've got to talk about it. this was said about caitvi
Tumblr media
ok so the cop argument, I've heard it before that's nothing new. don't get me wrong I hate cops as much as the next self respecting person, but I don't think it's a valid argument. not going to get into it, I think cait haters just need to get over themselves. yeah she does bad shit. EVERYONE does bad shit in arcane. the enforcers are not portrayed as a good organisation.
the part that really had me ???? was 'one of them is british'. hello??? neither of them are british, britain doesn't exist. does this person not watch anything with british actors??? I know that people have done a 180 after the anglophilia or whatever of the 2010s and yeah that's funny. but dismissing a canon lesbian couple who have complex characterisations, grey morality, and their own individual arcs, with their lesbianism being incidental (this NEVER happens anymore), because one of them has a british accent is wild.

the desire to remain in a small tumblr community vs the desire to go completely offline forever and ever
#there are two wolves inside of me etc etc#y'all I made a version of this post about a month ago when I was seriously considering deleting tumblr and not feeling silly about it at al#the internet was overwhelming me in a very very bad way#definitely in a better place with my screen time and mental health right now but idk...#in most ways I'm better off than 5 years ago me (being 15 is a low bar to clear)#but being basically entirely offline is something I miss#I've met some dear friends on here and wouldn't give them up for the world#and I'd hope to maintain those relationships outside of tumblr#but...idk.#being online is more stressful than not in a way it wasn't for me in 2019 when I got my first laptop and began noticing the internet#politics and pointless discourse have gotten so much worse or have just become less avoidable#I follow less than 100 people on here. Less than 20 on my sideblog with only mutuals. And still it's unavoidable#sometimes I wish I could just chat with some of y'all and not feel like I'm missing parts of my friends' lives unless I scroll tumblr#maybe I need to just get a life and get out of my head and only check tumblr like once per month#but at that point why even have it...#idk. hopefully the tone of this post isn't negative.#I'm not feeling sad or down about this right now actually! Just thoughtful.#there's so much good about the internet! I love being a fan of things and connecting with other fans#for example the internet introduced me to some of my favorite stories and I'm still being inspired by them#it brings people together-- I watched bits of the project for awesome livestream this past weekend and it was so cool to watch#thousands of people raising money for charities and also being outrageously silly. wonderful#but in order to find out about those things I'm exposing myself to stuff that's stressful or just an information overload#just some thoughts and rambles. would love to hear ur thoughts too.#diary

why do ppl think u hate loosemble what i miss
Nothing really, someone found my personal Twitter where I make no secret of the fact I bias ARTMS and follow Ourii accounts. Some people have an issue with that since they think it's "akgae" behaviour
You can all decide on your own whether you want to hate me for that, but biasing the other group doesn't mean I have a problem with Loossemble members.
I wish we could all be a little more real about the fact the group is split and people are going to enjoy their current projects differently from now on

me looking at my own blog: god i wish this bitch would stfu
#liz speaks#i just say things man#and i think it's so fucking funny that people on here take me as seriously as they do#i'm like...the least serious person you're ever going to meet#also why do people get so pressed about a random person's opinion on here?#i literally don't make policy dude#all i said was i think some silly little thing about some silly little fandom#and suddenly i've declared war on an allied nation or something? idk that's how seriously people take the discourse on here sometimes#like there are things that i think are serious of course#but yelling at me because someone asked me if i would make merch for my fics and then when i asked the masses about it#i'm being accused of trying to steal people's money? that's when you KNOW it's time to go touch some grass#this is a hobby not my profession. like people get so pressed about the most inconsequential shit on here.#my profession is being a silly goose. something i'm very good at actually#oh no did someone interpret your blorbo in a way you didn't like? call the national guard about it ig#idk dude sometimes i truly just want to pull away from everyone and ignore y'all#i think i'd be happier sometimes just posting my stories and not interacting with anyone#because some people (anons at the very least) make this place so bleak and miserable because they feel like they have to police everything#literally just vibe my guy. nothing on here is that serious. we're all just yapping about blorbos and reading/writing self indulgent shit#eat some grapes and sit in the shade or something idk

Today's one W: playing viddy games with friends actually cleared my processes a bit and it was revealed to me what was bothering me so badly. So I then decided that what was bothering me was actually really silly and decided I shouldn't be bothered by it anymore because there's nothing I can do about it. Yay <3

My brother is really getting on my nerves lately.
Him: Ugh. Ever notice how soft they make male characters now? They're always so nervous and flustered.
Me: *thinking about all the soft female characters who have died just for a 'tough' male character's revenge arc or ""character development""*
Me: *thinking about all the female characters who were timid and easily brushed aside/just a side character in the male character's quest. Always always women. Never the man.*
Me: *glaring* Yeah...

In that vein... (No, the following is not about autism or ADHD)
TL;DR: Using medical terms as insults or otherwise misusing medical terms (even as a joke) leads to uninformed people thinking they have to stop saying these words and creating new words. Either because they think the old term isn't precise enough anymore or because they incorrectly think that we're insulted by the old word.
The constant appearance of new words is confusing to people who struggle to learn new words. It excludes them from participating in discussions about their own condition.
We have to be more sensitive regarding possible repercussions and stop unnecessary discourse by uninformed people.
In Germany, the official word for my disability ID card category and the assessment is "Hirnschädigung", which literally translates to brain damage/damaged brain. And that's a neutral description, nothing outdated.
But many many people have been asking if someone has brain damage whenever they wanted to insult someone who is either slow on the uptake or who just made a very strange or silly suggestion, for example. They used it as an insult all the time, sometimes jokingly, sometimes not.
This is why now a lot of people ask "Uh, can we still say that in the 21st century? Shouldn't we change "brain damage" to something nicer? Isn't that word insulting?" when actually no, it isn't. (Of course you still shouldn't use that term if someone directly tells you they don't want to be called that)
It's the same with "disabled". People used and still use "disabled" and "dumb" synonymously in Germany. So now, well-meaning politicians and even advocates create all kinds of euphemisms because they think that disabled people will be offended by the word "disabled". Because some people use it as an insult.
When I say I'm disabled in German ("behindert"), people flinch. They think I just insulted myself. But no, "behindert" is a normal medical word, it's in the name of our disability ID card. Even more, the literal translation is "severely disabled person's pass", there's a "severe" accompanying the word "disabled". They flinch even more when I say I'm severely disabled.
"Disorder" has a negative connotation because it's been used as an insult. "Disabled" has a negative connotation because it's been used as an insult. People mixed up schizophrenia and DID and now many think that "feeling schizophrenic" is a sophisticated way to say that you feel conflicted.
The pattern is always the same: People use normal medical words either as insults or in an unrelated, non-medical way, and as a result well-meaning but uninformed advocates create "nicer" sounding words because they think the original word is either outdated or offensive. Or they think "Now that everyone misuses it, we need a new word for the medical term so that there are no misunderstandings."
In both cases, "our" words were successfully co-opted and we have to learn 10 new words to know that people talk about our conditions.
Unfortunately, not everyone sees 10 new words for their condition and intuitively picks up the meaning and knows what everyone's talking about. Sometimes words are hard. Sometimes it's hard to learn all these words and then be told by some uninformed activist that we shouldn't call ourselves what we've always called ourselves.
And what kind of people sometimes struggle with learning new words? People with cognitive impairments. People with brain damage. People who had a stroke. People who survived a ruptured aneurysm.
If you hear "Please stop saying you have a stroke or an aneurysm", etc., did it ever occur to you that maybe it's not because we're offended, but because we don't want these words to get negative connotations? Whenever something gets a negative connotation, there's a possibility for it to be seen as a slur and that would lead to 10 new words to learn because uninformed activists think the original term is offensive or not precise enough.
When I say "Hey, please stop saying you have a stroke when you don't understand something", I'm not offended and I'm not saying it's ableist. I've just noticed enough patterns to be quite sure that at some point there'll be an uninformed well-meaning advocate who suggests a new word for stroke survivors because they think the old word isn't precise enough anymore.
And I don't know if there are enough stroke survivors on social media who could stop this new word and mindset from reaching other uninformed advocate spaces...

I saw some light discourse going around hsrtwt about Ratio being bad/good/morally ambiguous
I'm not gonna comment on that too much cause I wanna talk about smth else but clearly he's a good person, probably one of the nicest people we meet compared to the war criminals and murderers. his major crime is that he's blunt, mean and makes his students cry (which is something about him I don't particularly enjoy for personal reasons, but still)
what I like, something that i feel like people tend to forget, is that he's very openly kind and caring
of course there's the basic stuff, like the fact that he pours his whole heart into making the universe a better place, has eradicated a whole illness called 'the king of illnesses' (so, supposedly, very deadly) and the entire not getting into the genius society because he cares about humanity too much. but also, you know
Tumblr media Tumblr media
first of all, he has canonically made various statues depicting himself making a heart with his hands while smiling warmly. I've always found it endearing how he mildly prides himself on 'keeping the world at bay' and just being generally mean while also doing this so casually. I mean, it's a clear message: 'I love you' that's what he's saying, and he's saying it in a silly way
Tumblr media
something a bit more hidden is these quotes from hoyolab's post. we all know the 'ignorance is an ailment' quote is directly taken from his character stories, making it canon. that subsequently makes the other two just as canon. obviously it's an official post, but I sometimes see people doubting the validity of these silly little snippets into the hsr universe
I don't particularly know if he is saying those last two quotes in general or to someone/a group of people in particular, but it's like... one of the sweetest (and corniest) things ever, and it makes me giggle a little bit. it almost felt out of character to me the first time I've seen these, but if you think about it, it's always been there
Tumblr media
this one is from the valentines day ""event"" on twitter from earlier this year. I like his reaction to the gift for he still has some of his usual, you know, 'I cannot bear to hear such foolish questions'. he's being nice in his own way here, his demeanor is just barely reserved but the sentiment behind his words remains a positive one
Tumblr media
another quick thing, though I don't have more examples for this one. he's always going on about how you should always consider whether the question you're about to ask already has an answer (so encouraging you to think for yourself) but he's still Always offering to help. in this and, if I remember correctly, in the mail description you get when you used to receive him for free he's making it clear that he's willing to help you discuss things for you to understand them better and will answer any question as long as it's not a 'stupid' one. he is a teacher, after all. the biggest thing about him is that he wants people to do better. other than this, despite his slight reluctance to help others himself, he does say in his character trailer that sometimes a little encouragement is required
Tumblr media
and he does encourage people openly when they do good! no 'I suppose this is acceptable' nor 'I guess you did good'. when someone or something impresses him, he genuinely expresses it. I like to point this out because I see so many people say he's self absorbed or puts himself above others, when that is simply not true. which, I mean, can also be seen in his small little interactions with Herta, Ruan Mei and Screwllum (he literally praises them)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
then he also says this a couple times. I don't exactly know what he considers courtesy or discourtesy, but it's clear that at least not all his blunt or mean words are meant to offend. this is something I'd love to look further into, but for now simply want to put here with the rest cause it's an interesting thing about him. he is already described as elegant, which implies a certain level of basic courtesy and politeness when interacting with others, though this just slightly crashes with his 'rude' demeanor
supposedly, you could make the argument that while he canonically realizes how non-endearing he can be (knows his own shortcomings, one of the exact traits he praises) perhaps he actively struggles with coming off as nice. and seeing all I've pointed out so far, maybe all those instances of him being nice are how he'd prefer to come off as (some times). that is unless I missed some bits of canon dialogue where it's implied otherwise
this isn't that detailed or well made of a post, nor the first time someone has pointed out this stuff. in fact I reblogged an incredibly good, lengthy post some time ago that talks more in depth about how nice/kind of a person Veritas Ratio really is
I simply cannot stand when he is described as cold, uncaring, selfish, self-centered or someone incapable of being gentle and loving. and it's not nearly as subtle as people seem to think it is
