Summary :

From their new base on Ajan Kloss, General Organa sends Poe Dameron and Finn on a mission to assist a partisan milicia and hopefully bring new recruits. But nothing ever goes as planned...

Chapter 1 : Crazy and the droids [extract]

  The old jumpspeeder splitted the air, slicing the wild vegetation growing along the pathway as it flew through the jungle of Yavin 4. Riding it, two teenagers were screaming at the top of their lungs.

Poe took a second to clear some loose strands of his messy dark hair off his driving goggles before gripping back at the handlebars, his pulse racing, adrenaline rushing through every fiber of his body. Oh, how he loved it!

"Faster Poe!", yelled the girl behind him, frantically hitting on his shoulder, " Faster!"

A cocky smirk spread on his lips and he pushed the engines a little more, bending over to try and protect himself from the violent wind the speed was creating. Behind him, he felt Deelio standing up, her hands firmly grasping at his jacket to keep her balance, and urging him to go faster again. 

Poe pushed the thrusters with an exalted whoop that instantly died in his throat as the speeder jerked and the engines started coughing.

" What the-" cursed Poe as he felt the handlebars shaking violently in his hands.

He hit the brakes and engaged the bike in a drift to lose more speed while Deelio wrapped her arms around his chest and squeezed her body on his back. They should have put their helmets on! Poe clenched his teeth as they hit a trunk and the bike was thrown in the thick jungle of their home world.

The jumpspeeder ended its course in a curtain of vines that tangled around the machine and its passengers as a black smoke escaped from the dying engines. Poe felt his friend shaking against his back and feared she'd hurt herself in the crash but he soon heard her chuckling in his neck. He spat a laugh, removed his goggles and ruffled his hair before saying : "Well, that was fun."

"Dad is going to kill me", replied Deelio.

Her father had brought that old Empire's jumpspeeder from one of his scouts a few month ago and allowed them to ride it out of exasperation at their constant asking. "Don't go too far", he had said. " Or too fast", he had added eyeing Poe whom had wisely nodded even though he knew he wouldn't obey.

"You mean me", he snorted.

She shook his shoulder, mildly at first but then with more force and Poe woke up with a start. His eyes took some time to adapt to the dim light of his surroundings and his brain even more to understand why Finn was staring at him urgently.

   "You need to see this", said the former stormtrooper, squeezing his shoulder.

Poe frowned, the nervousity in his friend's voice putting him out of his reverie and casting away the long lost memories of his childhood home. The time for reckless joyrides in the jungle was long gone—even though one could say flying the Millennium Falcon was close enough. 

Finn took a step back and motioned the pilot to follow him with a lift of his eyebrows. Poe scratched his hair and stood up from his bunk bed: back to the mission.

Leia had sent them off to an old mining asteroid in the Outer Rim to persuade a droid programmer that was already working for the Resistance to come work in the new base on Ajan Kloss. After the battle of Crait, the Resistance had been reduced to a few tens of people and they were in desperate need for any help.

Poe felt his gut twisting at the thought of all the lives they had lost on that dreadful day, the lesson had been hard to learn. Admiral Holdo's sacrifice, his own retreat order as he realized they were no match against First Order canons…

Poe shook the memories away and followed Finn in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon. BB-8 greeted him with a tilt of his head and a whistle, asking him if he rested well.

"I'll sleep better after the mission, buddy", replied Poe as he sat on the pilot chair.

The Falcon was on autopilot as long as they were on light speed, which in theory should have offered a 2 hours nap for Poe. Judging by their position, he only had 40 minutes…

"The general sent us a message", said Finn sitting in the co-pilot seat.

His voice was tired and Poe put a supporting hand on his friend's shoulder. Before he could think of anything to say, Finn was already playing the message and he focused on it.

"Commander Dameron", was saying Leia in a formal tone - Poe cock his head and couldn't help but feel a little burst of pride at his newly recovered rank. "I am afraid the situation is evolving faster than our intels can follow and the coordinates you have are no longer valid. I'm sending you your new delivery point and I'm urging you to stay unnoticed there. You might need to use another ship for the drop out", she added grimly.

Poe checked the new coordinates and frowned. "Corellia, uh?"

"That's in the core center of the galaxy", growled Finn, "it's going to take us ages to go there from the Outer Rim."

Poe side glanced at his friend, amused. "You just want to be back to Rey and Rose".

It was sometimes hard to tell if Finn was blushing due to the dark tone of his skin, but his childish scowl was as eloquent. Behind them, BB-8 was already babbling everything he knew about Corellia in a concert of beeps and whistles, even though Poe was already aware of the most important part: The planet had never truly recovered economically from the fall of the Empire and most of the ship factories had turned into dumpsters. Now that he thought of it, this might be the perfect conditions for the First Order to take root in the core systems unnoticed… 

"I don't get it", said Finn, "who would need a reprogrammed droid on that planet?"

BB-8 turned his oculus to Poe, apparently agreeing with Finn, and Poe took a moment to think. Bringing back the droid programmer was one part of the mission, she was also handing them a reprogrammed First Order droid for them to deliver it to a Resistance friendly faction, led by some guy by the name of Von Bi'll, that was trying to infiltrate the First Order. But to their knowledge, that faction was supposedly stationed in the Unknown regions of the galaxy, which was where most of the First Order planets were. 

"Look," said Poe, "I don't know either. But if Leia says we need to go there, she must be sure of her intel. Like she said, things evolve fast around here."

"But how are we going to find another ship?"

"We'll figure it out. First we need to get the droid and convince that Deely lady to come with us."

Finn opened his mouth to argue but Poe gave him a glare that shouted "Period!" before heading back to bed. He couldn't remember the last time he was able to sleep for a few hours straight and his body was starting to make him painfully aware of that. He was in his early thirties but as he lay down on the bunk bed, he felt like an old battered man.

He tried to prevent himself from overthinking the implications of their change of destination - as confident as he had tried to sound in front of Finn, he wasn't exactly thrilled by the idea. Plus, that programmer's name kept reminding him of his childhood best friend Deelio and he wasn't sure how he felt about it. He hadn't heard of her in ten years and he couldn't help but wonder if she was alright.

His tired mind drifted into an agitated sleep full of weird dreams and mixed memories until the signal of the ship about to exit light speed woke him up.

He found Finn fast asleep in the lounge bench and shook him up gently. The two friends took their seats in the cockpit where BB-8 was running a diagnostic on yet another malfunction.

"This thing is falling into pieces," grumbled Poe as he rubbed his face. 

In front of them, hanging in the deep void of space, appeared Boroth, an asteroid occupied by a mining facility from the Empire's era. The dark planetoid seemed on the verge of turning into dust and rocks, it seemed like the mine's metal skeleton was the only thing keeping it together.

A few areas seemed lighted but it was clear that the mining activities had stopped a long time ago. According to their intels, it was now used as a hideout for pirates, spice runners and all kinds of smugglers.

"And here I thought Jakku was the worst rat hole of this galaxy", said Finn.

"You clearly haven't traveled enough", sniggered Poe.

Finn glanced at him, an eyebrow raised, waiting for maybe an adventurous story but Poe just smiled.

"You don't want to know", he said as he engaged their descent on the landing deck at the south pole of the asteroid.

WAIT I GOT A QUESTION ABOUT TAD so before his dimension was destroyed, could he also see the third dimension or did he only start to see it AFTER the his dimension was destroyed? If it was only after, how did he take it? Now that he knew just what bill was referring to when he was young? THE POTENTIAL ANGST WONT LET ME SLEEP HELP

So my idea was that Tad did have a type of eye mutation! But it wasn’t as severe or noticeable as Bills. He always had the desire to be “ normal “ so “ just because I see something dark and shiny in the corner of my eye if I look really far to the side doesn’t mean I can’t have a normal life “ was what he told himself. Once he met baby Bill, he really really wanted him to think the same. Horror isekai where Perceiving the Weird Eldritch Thing gets you catapulted into a nightmare labyrinth of puzzle-solving.

I.e Those Who Perceive The Hunt of the Goblin King Must Partake In The Labyrinth and Can Only Be Freed If They Complete It In One Day and One Night. By Fae Law. For Reasons.

But the definition of “perception” clearly needs to be updated because some normal guy simply films the Hunt of the Goblin King Behind Arby’s, and puts it on Facebook -

Because the rules are pretty clear, “the rules are the rules” as is carved ominously in elvish runes above the grim gate, and the Contract is Sealed. and so therefore the guy and 25 of their most random real-life acquaintances must run the gauntlet together. It’s Some Guy, their immediate neighbors, their first partner’s mom, their friends from hobby Facebook groups (oh this poor guy and their hobbies; the elderly birdwatchers from Facebook and the young up-and-coming drag king community), their random teen kid niece, college friends, a dog who also watched the video, a couple consisting of a woman who is the guy’s Facebook friend and showed her husband the video, and the husband doesn’t even know Some Guy, so he’s in the labyrinth and absolutely furious about being forced to be involved, and they proceed to break up over the course of the puzzle.

It’s important that the narrative keeps trying to be a sexy dark horror isekai! but within this the comedic reality of Catherine, 52, the guy’s horse-riding instructor, being passionately involved in escape-room-style puzzle solving and grappling with minor goblins. They are in fact speedrunning the gauntlet.

The Goblin King finally has to say: all right, actually, I only really set all this up to fuck with one (1) guy at a time, thanks for your willingness to participate, but I think all 25 of you can consider the gauntlet fully run.

And the group would be quite hurt by that. The rules are the rules. We have a contract, actually. Let Catherine cook.

AU where Shen Yuan gets transmigrated into the body of a rogue cultivator and he finds a stray little girl. He picks her up and decides to raise her as his own since apparently she has no one.

The little girl's name? Su Xiyan.

Somehow she still ends up in Huan Hua Palace, but she manages to avoid Old Palace Master better. She still gets sent to seduce Tianlang-jun, and she still falls in love.

Shen Yuan approves because he does trust his daughter, but he does think her taste in men is... interesting. He manages to help Su Xiyan escape from Huan Hua when she realizes she has Luo Binghe. So Tianlang-jun isn't sealed either.

Years later, he meets Shen Jiu, and they fall in love. They're fluffy and cute, eventually they get married. But tragedy strikes as Shen Yuan is attacked by a demon using Without A Cure.

The wound was too large, he was too tired, his swag too swagful, his heart too big, his ass too fat. They killed my mans 😔

Shen Jiu and Su Xiyan are the people holding him as he dies. He feels fulfilled since he at least cherished his family this life.

Then Shen Yuan wakes up, he's at the hospital. He is confused at first but then a nurse calms him down and says it was probably a coma dream. Shen Yuan accepts this answer, yet he feels like he's too old for his body and his family notice he's suddenly a lot wiser and calm.

After all the therapy (both physical and mental) he is discharged. His family hover around him, and he lets it happen since he feels like he hasn't seen them in like years. Eventually they trust him to go on his own again.

Shen Yuan decides to become a teacher. He lives a rather calm life, but he can't help but feel like he left something behind. He constantly dreams about taking care of a little girl and marrying a beautiful man. (So maybe the dreams helped him realize he wasn't straight, but for some reason he felt like he already knew that.)

During one of his morning walks he encounters a cat with a golden coat and cream colored underbelly and sock. He barely managed to get a look at it before it bolted to him, meowing and yelling.

He eventually gets the memo and takes the cat with him, who seems content with it. He names her Su Xiyan after the little girl in his dreams.

Throughout the days of first having her, he notices that other cats tend to come visit. One has a completely black coat and keeps trying to seemingly catch Xiyan's attention. And another is a beautiful white cat with green eyes, who seems extremely fond of him, that is followed by a large grey tabby.

Shen Yuan ends up just getting used to the cats on his balcony and leaves food for them. They all seem to like him for some reason, probably because he gives them food.

The white cat is the most bold and just walks into his apartment whenever he wants Shen Yuan's attention. At least the grey tabby is sensible enough to wait for him to say he's allowed inside.

The white cat always hisses and fights with a tuxedo cat that always has a smaller cat following behind. The small cat is sweet, the bigger one tends to leave dead cats in front of his door...

Shen Yuan gets used to the fluffy semi-roommates. Eventually even a few kittens join the group, one from Xiyan herself and it looks suspiciously like the tomcat constantly following her. Even the hissy white cat has two little kittens following him, a little calico and a siamese kitten.

Life is good and Shen Yuan had too many cats.

something about origins darkspawn + darkspawn designs that is lost in future games imo is like... a sense of a strange, unknowable form of "culture". you fight their forgemaster/blacksmith, the strongest ones get a better set of armor and weapons, they add somewhat pointless gory decor to areas theyve overtaken, etc etc

you can definitely argue its the power of the archdemon in that game, use its control to make them act in a more "human" manner, but considering the sentient darkspawn in the expansions, theres definitely more to it

which to me is totally lost in the knock-off-bdsm-most-of-them-dressed-the-same darkspawn of 2 onwards

tldr origins darkspawn designs and behavior are more in line with their "spawned from sentient races" nature than future media, which makes them kinda feel like generic monsters to me

Then I have 3 more chapters in that AU planned out (for now). But none of the chapters are as long as the "Let's Dance" chapter (so far). The "My Deer Nanny" AU is sooo fun to explore so for anyone interested in the AU, you can definitely expect more.

I do really like drawing demon stuff and have soooo many drawings I wanna make that's "in hellaverse" demon antics, but "My Deer Nanny" will always be cooking whether it's on the backburner or not.

And there's still other AUs I wanna draw too, like the Hitman v. Kingpin Human AU, Chaggie Human AU, Role Reversal AU, Rule 63 AU, Angel Alastor AU, and moreeee

But we have soooo much time before season 2, so I'm not rushing anything hahaha

I absolutely love how the alleged Virgin Birth of Anakin Skywalker is (at least in film) never elaborated on at all ever. We don’t know how it happened. Nobody in universe knows how it happened. It just did. 12 year old Anakin asks Obi-Wan where babies come from and Obi-Wan explains as delicately as he can, then adds “Not you though.” Darth Vader’s fun fact about himself at Imperial getting to know you activities is that he just spawned one day. Luke and Leia aren’t even phased when they learn this because their dad was Weird Enough already.
