sumery: she had missed her chance, and now it tore her apart.

warnings: sad but fluffy little drabble, mental illness.

she lay on the carpeted floor, staring at the white ceiling above her. it had been three days. three days of tears. three days of crying until she was dehydrated, than simply laying there dissociating because her body did not have the strength to move, then falling asleep, and waking up in tears again.

every negitave thought she could have had passed through her mind. ‘you’re an idiot.’ ‘you don’t deserve him.’ ‘he’d never want some stupid little girl like you. look at you. laying there for three days. you’re going to die like that.’ maybe death would be better.

she sniffled again, but no tears came. even they had left her. if only her feelings would leave her too. she looked at the calendar on her wall. today way the day. the day he was leaving. there was no telling when he’d return, if he would at all. she just couldn’t bring herself to say goodbye. 

she felt warnth sting her eyes again. it seamed her tears hadn’t abandoned her after all. she lay back on the floor, currling up in a ball and alowed herself to sob. she was so caught in her emotions, she didn’t hear her front door open.

i’ve got to see her again. i’ve got to say goodbye. i can’t just leave her.

Ravi used the spare key to open (y/n)’s front door. emedeatly he knew something was off. her candles had burned all the way down and there flams extinguished. it was deadly quiet. she always had music playing, or she was humming to herself. if she had gone out she wouldn’t have let the candles burn all the way down, so where was she?

it was then Ravi heard a heart shattering sob. no.

“(y/n)!” Ravi called, rushing to her room.

he found her, curled up in a little ball on her floor. he looked over her quickly for any ingeries, but she seamed clean. he could tell her pain was not phisical. 

“oh, sweet heart...” he sat behind her and pulled her into his lap, cradling her like a child. she was lighter then she should be, and extreamly pale. her sobbing didn’t stop as he held her. he rocked her back and forth, cradling her like a doll who could shatter in his arms at any moment. after some time, her tears stopped.

“it’s gunna be okay, precious. you’re safe. i’ve got you.” he mumbled softly into her hair. she hickuped, hiding her face in his shoulder. he shushed her, rubbing her back and placing his hand on the back of her head. 

“what is it sweet heart, can you tell me?” she hickuped again and shook her head, clutching onto his shirt. he hummed lowly, continuing to rock her. after a little longer, her hickups stopped. he continued to hum, and rock her, rubbing her back. 

she felt new fresh tears sting her eyes, and she tryed to hold back another sob. he only held her tighter, whispering to her that she was safe, that he had her, that she was safe with him. 

“i love you.” she said it so softly she couldn’t even really hear it herself. but Ravi understould. 

“i love you, baby girl. and seeing you in pain, hurts me.” he mumbled into her hair. she hickuped again.

“no, Ravi... you don’t undertand.” he pulled her head up to look at him. in his eyes she saw tears, she saw the stains on his cheeks. he’s been crying too. 

“don’t i?” he asked, there was no harshness in his voice, only softness and pain. “how long have you been like this (y/n)?” she snifled.

“three days?” she geussed. he let out a sob.

“three days? why didn’t you tell anyone? why didn’t you tell me?” he sounded hurt and betraid. she shook her head.

“i didn’t want to bother anyone.” she staited in a small voice. Ravi sobbed again.

“(y/n) listen to me please.” he held her cheeks in his hands, making her look him in the eyes. “you are not a bother. you are never a bother. and when you’re in pain like this, you need to tell someone. you need to tell me. please.” he was still crying as he spoke his beautiful face glistened with tears.

“i love you (y/n). do you understand?” his voice broke as he stared at her. she hickuped, but nodded. “i love you, i love you, i love you...” he repeated those same three words as he kissed her face. her forhead, her cheeks, her chin, her nose, her eyes, and finaly. “i love you so much baby girl.” he kissed her lips.

the next day Ravi was gone. no matter how much he loved (y/n), he still had responsibilities. to his group and to his company. 

when she woke up, she found a glass of water and a note next to her bed. she sat up, taking the small folded note, and opening it. 

“once upon a time, there was a queen. she was stronger then any would know, but even the strongest of warriors had there bad days. she was a fighter though and would not let such a little thing destroy her...” she reread the note, before looking on the back where she read “come and find me” 

she drank the glass of water, and took it and the note into the kitchen. there she found another note. she opened it and read, “she fought bravely, but found herself in a trap she couldn’t escape. she was to fearful to ask for help, and was nearly bested...” she turned the note over again. “keep looking”

she wandered her home again, and at the front door she saw it. there was a small vase full of her favorite flowers, and infront of it sat the last note. “just when she was ready to give up, he found her. never think that you haft to go though your pain alone, never let those negative voices best you, and never forget how much i love you (y/n). let me be your knight if you’ll be my warrior queen. please wait for me. i will be back soon for you my queen. i love you.”

-OK so like I said before, it's either one of two options.

-We either hate, like absolutely despise each other.

Cheers to the good days 

It’s easy to get caught up with life and to only write and talk about the struggles. Those struggles are important yes and adressing them is important. But I think we often do so to the detriment of all the good things that are happening in our lives. Counting your blessings is important no matter what you are going through, but especially in moments where everything truly is going great. Make sure to truly bask in the joy and happiness of the moments, however brief they may be. 

It’s important to be able to let yourself be able to enjoy them, to not be afraid to feel the happiness out of fear of sadness returning, out of fear of things being too good to be true. Being happy doesn’t mean you can’t be realistic. If anything, sometimes I think we get stuck in an overly cynical point of view because positivity and optimism seem like a joke in light of all going on in the world. 

But you know what, today was a great day. And the past few weeks have also been really great. Granted I’ve still had my ups in down, I’m so happy to be able to say that I’m in such a good place right now. I’m finally starting the program that is leading me to my future career and I couldn’t be more thrilled about what I’m learning. I’m managing to relatively well socialise with my class peers and have been feeling more and more like I am actually a part of the group, that I have just as much right to be there as anyone else and am all around becoming less and less self-conscious. My living situation has been a pleasant surprise from one end to the other for so many reasons; my roommates are fantastic, the location is amazing and I just feel so at home. I've gotten to make amazing and wondeful new connections through different online communities. Everyday I’m being pushed out of my confort zone in ways that yes are scary but are also finally letting me feel like I can truly explore who I am. 

I truly and sincerely feel so loved and blessed and no one, no one can take that away from me. I really feel so thankful for where I am right now, and it feels so good to be allowed to enjoy that. That even though I am far from having my life figured out, even though I still feel like a mess in so many instances, I’m still doing a pretty decent job at this whole adulting thing. 

I know harder days will come, sad and frustrating times are inevitable. But I won’t shy away from them because I know that around the corner there will always been a happy day. So long as I am able to let myself really truly enjoy the bright happy days, then I will be able to weather the darker days.

How to advance in any language

Raise your hand if you have ever got stuck while learning a language. Going from intermediate to advance sounds impossible, sometimes even passing that beginner stage can be a struggle.

- Been there, done that. -

We wanted to change our current situation of feeling stuck and create a master plan to level up in any language at any any level. We believe that the best way to keep moving forward in language learning is by challenging yourself to get out of your comfort zone. The simple act of trying something new can put you in an ideal learning situation. We also know that we need motivation to learn a language, and learning with friends is one of the most motivational things that could ever exists. This is why right now we want to officially invite all of our internet friends to join the level up challenge! So we can all help each other stay motivated while we work on those language learning summer goals.

This is how it works:

First step: Choose a language you love and ask yourself which level you are in and how would you like to improve. Second step: Download the free checklist in the level you want to join (Beginner, intermediate, advanced) Third Step: Join the challenge on June 1rst and start leveling up. Fourth step: Share your progress on social media using the official hashtag (#leveluplanguagechallenge) and tag @therealpolyglot so we can see you! This way we can all help each other stay motivated. Oh, and don’t forget to follow us as well, we are going to be sharing our own progress and helping you with any questions you may have. We also want to give our friend Erika a warm welcome to the challenge, she will be joining us at the beginner level of the challenge in polish.

Un día nos dio por querer cambiar nuestra situación actual de estar estancadas y decidimos crear un plan maestro para poder subir de nivel en cualquier idioma y en cualquier etapa. Creemos que la mejor manera de avanzar en un idioma es desafiandonos a salir de nuestra zona de confort. Este simple acto de intentar algo nuevo puede colocarte en una situación ideal de aprendizaje. También sabemos que necesitamos motivación para aprender un idioma, y sabemos que aprender con amigos es una de las formas más efectivas para mantenerse motivado. Es por eso que en este preciso momento queremos invitar a todos nuestros amigos de internet a participar en el Level Up Challenge. De esta manera todos nos podemos ayudar mientras nos esforzamos a conseguir nuestras metas de idiomas este verano.

Cómo participar:

Primer paso: Elige un idioma que te encante y analiza en qué nivel estás y cómo te gustaría mejorar. Erhebe deine Hand, wenn du jemals in deinem Lernprozess festgesteckt hast. Von einem fortgeschrittenen Anfänger zu einem Fortgeschrittenen überzugehen scheint unmöglich, manchmal kann es sogar ein Kampf sein aus dem Anfangsstadium auszubrechen

- Ich war dort, ich habs gemacht -

Wir wollten unsere jetzige Situation des Stillstands ändern und einen “Masterplan” erstellen, um in jeder Sprache und auf jedem Level vorwärtszukommen. Wir glauben, dass der beste Weg, um in einer Sprache vorwärts zu kommen, darin besteht dich selbst herauszufordern und aus deinem Wohlfühlbereich rauszukommen. Der einfache Vorgang einfach mal etwas neues auszuprobieren, kann dich in eine ideale Lernsituation versetzen. Wir wissen auch, dass wir Motivation brauchen, um eine Sprache zu lernen, und mit Freunden zu lernen, ist eine der am meisten motivierenden Dinge, die jemals existieren könnte. Deswegen wollen wir nun offiziell all unsere Internet-Freunde dazu einladen, mit uns an der “Level Up Challenge” teilzunehmen. Damit wir uns alle gegenseitig helfen können, motiviert zu bleiben während wir an diesen Sprachlernzielen für den Sommer arbeiten.

Und so funktioniert’s:

Schritt 1: Wähle eine Sprache aus, die du liebst und frage dich selbst, auf welchem level du dich befindest und wie du dich gerne verbessern möchtest. Schritt 2: Lade dir die kostenlose Checkliste herunter, die dem Level entspricht, dem du dich anschließen möchtest (Anfänger (beginner), fortgeschrittener Anfänger (intermediate), Fortgeschrittener (advanced)) Schritt 3: Schließe dich der Challenge am 1. Juni an und beginne aufzusteigen. Schritt 4: Teile deinen Fortschritt auf Social Media Plattformen und nutze das offizielle Hashtag (#leveluplanguagechallenge) and markiere @therealpolyglot, damit wir dich sehen können. So können wir uns gegenseitig helfen, motiviert zu bleiben. Oh, und zudem solltest du nicht vergessen, uns zu folgen, wir werden unseren eigenen Fortschritt teilen und wir werden dir bei jeder Frage behilflich sein, die möglicherweise haben wirst. A quick introduction to Katie’s reading experiment

Hi, lovely.

Thank you for being here, on my little blog, hopefully you’ll enjoy it. 

The idea of Katie’s reading experiment was born on a rainy, cosy September day, after months of going back and forward, wanting to start reading again, not having the time or the energy, watching so many booktube videos but at the end of the day, being in a huge reading slump and not reading at all.

Let’s start at the beggining though. Hi, I’m Katie. Currently still 30 years old. I’m from Europe, however English is not my native language, so please excuse any potential grammar mistakes. Huge coffee lover (I also don’t mind wine). I have the loveliest, cutest little dog, which I absolutely adore. In a real world, I have a demanding job - and I need a sweet escape sometimes. I used to love reading, so much! For the past few years though, the real life got in the way - and I stopped reading, completely. I could blame the lack of time, but mostly lack of energy and Netflix. :)

I do miss the magical and wonderful world of books, therefore I decided to create Katie’s reading experiment.

The idea behind it is, to challenge myself with a range of book challenges, trying to not only find my love for books again, but to push myself out of my confort zone when it comes to reading. I was mostly a romance reader before, may that be dark romance, taboo, contemporary, sports romance etc. I want to change that. I want to read the genres I would never think of before. I want to finally read some of the books my favorite booktubers recommend. I want to find great new books and I want to find out which books are not for me. Most of all, I want to share this journey with all of you.

Working two jobs that let me provide and have financial stability.

Working a job (from home) with a strong support system that helped me improve my mentality.

My family, my son.

Now why are these important?

Without my job, I wouldn’t be able to do the fun things in life. Have food to eat. Have real world experience. Which is very important. The interactions I recieved at the hospital can be very vague or very phenomenal. I’ve heard so many stories , and learned so much from others.

Monat, people think the most negative about it. Ive never met such influential women who have helped me focus on my self growth after all the damage I’ve been though. It’s helped me push through my roughs to carry out my journey.

My family, didn’t have to put up with my bs I’ve ever put them through ,but they’re my support. My son , for being able to love like I’ve never loved before. To be able to watch him and my family grow together.

Now here’s where you keep fighting for what your worth is.

Are you confident or what you do? Does it make you happy? Stick to what does, but also know that jumping out of your confort zone can open a million of other opportunities for you.

hello, this is a little update on my life and mental health. last summer, even last month, i couldn't imagine being where i am now. i was afraid to play soccer and run and lift weights again because of my stomach problems and my anxiety. but i'm doing sprints 3 days a week, going to the gym 3 days a week, and playing soccer on the other day. i feel incredible. i feel so strong, mentally and physically. i can't wait to see my progress. it's been two years since i've felt like this, before my eating disorder and before my stomach problems. i never imagined life would get better, but it did. i don't care about my weight or what i look like. i don't worry about what other think of me. i'm happy. my mental health is at an all time high. i overcame my anxiety and my fears, and god damn does it feel good. i'm so excited to see my progress over these next few months. my mind and body are stronger than ever, and they will only keep progressing. thanks to everyone who's believed in me and pushed me out of my confort zone to get here. thank you for believing in me @vivatito , @viewfrombeaven , madi, and coach tony 😌💜 (at Top of the World)
