why i chose the field:

a little bit ago i got asked why i chose to study astrophysics and i gave a very long answer here. the tldr of it is i really want to understand the world around me and there are so many cool and unknown things going on in space and i want to learn about it all, lmao

what i studied in high school:

at this point, i had a vague idea that i either wanted to major in creative writing or physics when i got to college so i took courses that would prep me for whichever one i chose

i took both AP Physics I and II and i took the most advanced math classes that were offered to me at each grade level. i was also incredibly lucky to have a free spot in my schedule the one year an astrophysics course was offered, so i took that as well!

otherwise, i worked through the standard subjects that were required for me to graduate and i definitely overdid it with how many AP classes i took. they helped a lot in college but i would've been just as fine if i had taken less

what i studied in college:

i got a BS in physics during my undergrad :)

i chose to just major in physics and not astrophysics because i kind of thought i might like particle physics and wanted to give myself wiggle room to change my mind. (spoiler: i didn't end up liking quantum/particle physics because the math required for quantum mechanics is fucked up and the bane of my existence ;-;)

i obviously fulfilled all my degree requirements, lmao, and that included some humanities and social science courses as well as a couple of physics classes in each "core" area of physics (mechanics, electricity and magnetism, thermodynamics, quantum mechanics). i also took whatever math classes were required for the higher-level physics courses i wanted to take.

i ended up with a lot of extra room in my schedule. this was from both the AP credits i earned in high school and the fact that i would only take the first class in each physics sequence (so i took classical mechanics I but not classical mechanics II) and since i went to a school with quarters instead of semesters, this meant i was only really getting half the information in each subject. (again, i would not recommend doing this bc i would've been just as fine doing less/taking more time to do things fully.)

however, this extra room did allow me to take all of the astrophysics elective courses offered by my college and start taking grad classes my senior year. my senior thesis was also an astrophysics-related project.

after i graduated with my BS, i took another year to finish my MS in physics (which i just graduated with like a week ago!!!)

some non-course related stuff that is just as important imo:

aside from studying, i did get some project/research experience in via my senior thesis and working in a photonics lab starting the summer between my BS and MS. i was also a teaching assistant this past academic year.

i think these experiences were just as helpful as my academics in preparing me for a PhD and getting accepted into a program, lmao

i can see the trio dangerously driving to or from a party. they’re speeding down the empty road, the new future album blasting from the speakers of topper’s jeep. kelce is up front, and reader and rafe are in the back. reader is a bit drunk and rafe is high out of his mind and can’t control his feelings for reader so he starts getting touchy with her, maybe trying to kiss her. since you’re just starting this au out, i’m curious to know how do you think reader would react and if she did kiss him back, how would topper and kelce react?

the last line of coke was a mistake—it made him lose the last bits of his self control. it was clear that he was way too high to drive, even though it seemed like rafe always drove clear-headed or not, so you were assigned babysitting duty in the back.

top was on a rager today, even worse than his usual ones. whenever him and sarah started fighting, he got like this, currently blasting some future song at the highest volume possible, speeding through the streets of kildare. you would be a little scared, except kelce is driving while topper nurses yet another beer in the passenger seat. you're deliciously drunk, still gone from the drinks you had at the party, not a care in the world except making sure rafe doesn't keel over in the back.

you mumble along the words to the song, pretty much engraved in your memory from how often it was played. you don't know how it happens, your fingers just find rafe's hair, brushing it out of his face while he talks to top and kelce in the front, amped up and loud, acting as crazy as you've ever seen him. you giggle, continuing your motions.

topper begins some rant about his girlfriend, or rather, his ex, while rafe locks eyes with you. it's hard to keep eye contact, looking away the second rafe shuts up and focuses on you completely. you're never shy around them but this might be the closest you've gotten.

you feel rafe's hands on your exposed thighs, your tiny skirt ridden up in the seat. his touch feels good, in your drunken state you don't think there's anything wrong with it. he's just being friendly, being touchy, being rafe. he strokes the soft skin of your legs, running his hands down to your ankles, while you shift around in the back. all it would take is one look from the boys in the front to see that something's going on back here.

"rafe, listen to top he's talkin-"

"shh," rafe says, noise completely overlooked by the others, nothing audible except the thump of the bass. he takes your face into his hand, leaning in close. "shut up for a second." he kisses you, briefly, barely, lips touching together and your eyes fluttering shut, when kelce slams on the brakes. the two of you fly apart, your heart thudding for an entirely different reason now.

"what the fuck, kelce, my brakes-" top starts.

"it was a deer, you idiot. you guys okay?" he turns to look at you and rafe in the back, your face flushed and rafe's hands still on your legs.

"fine," rafe mumbles. the four of you head back to tannyhill, you crashing on rafe's bed like always while top and kelce take the guest room down the ball. the two of you are out before you can bring it up, but rafe doesn't forget about it.

in the morning, you stretch, the oversized shirt of his you'd put on for the night riding up. rafe doesn't wait another minute.

"so, about last night. in the car." he looks at you, waiting for your response.

"oh, rafe, don't apologize. it's okay. we were both pretty gone."

"m'not apologizin', i-"

"and i mean, who hasn't been there once or twice-"

"once or twice?"

"and i kissed kelce that one time, so i guess-"

"you kissed kelce?" rafe looks at you like you've committed a crime.

"what? it was new years."

"where the hell was i?"

"i don't know, probably sucking some girl's face off. i was busy making out with kelce, remember?" you laugh, getting up and looking for your clothes. rafe lays back down on the bed, deciding he's never leaving you alone with kelce ever again.

ok so i was thinking about a fic set in early s5 where hunters take sam and use him as a weapon to fight demons by force feeding him demon blood and he has to go through the withdrawals when there are no signs of any demons to fight and this goes on for a while and maybe the word gets out between hunters and dean somehow finds out but he doesn't try to rescue sam immediately and just thinks maybe sam deserves to suffer a bit for the apocalypse and all but eventually comes around and saves him :]

Here's what he knows: he's in an abandoned building somewhere near the coast. The place probably used to be, or was supposed to be, an apartment building. The area of the wall filled with rough cement probably used to be a window but the people holding him captive haven't done him the disservice of underestimating him and the window is gone, as is the one in the bathroom. The people who captured him are hunters, but that was a given.

They've changed location five times, they've changed vehicles three times.

By his less than reliable count, it's been over four months.

To no avail, Sam tries to tell them that he can do the job well enough without the blood. "Demon-bitch thinks we're dumb enough to get ourselves killed," they say when he brings it up. Sam tries not to dwell on the nicknames.

Lilia reminds Anan of grandparents he sees in movies. He knows that Lilia may be a little too old than he looks, and the vibes that the fae gives off??? When Lilia calls himself “old man”??? That just confirms Anan’s suspicions😭 however, he thinks Lilia is very fun and playful!! Anan really appreciates when Lilia tries to include him in group activities🕺

Anan’s and Malleus’s relationship is like….old men talking about boring things tbh💀 their conversation sounds like they’re tryna build relationships across kingdoms or someth (which is part of their intentions, of course, but Lilia and Charin wants them to lighten up for once!!!)

He thinks that Malleus is very quiet, but also enjoyable to hang out with. Anan feels like he can talk about anything with Malleus! (They also talk about gargoyles and supernaturals)

“I’ve only seen Draconia around with Siphok,” Anan says, “They…are a…chaotic duo. Not a bad thing of course, but I do hope Malleus knows what he is doing when enabling all those strange ideas Siphok has in mind.”

He pauses, a small smile slowly making its way on his lips, “They both look like they are having the time of their lives, however. So I won’t stop them.”

I LOVE THE WAY NOSES ARE DRAWN 🫶🫶🫶

Maybe that’s a weird thing to notice a lot about cats art, but everyone seems to have different ways to combine human and cat noses, and i just really think it’s cool how the ways people display the makeup :)))

Also overall just. the diversity in style and designs makes me really happy.

9. A ship that isn’t your otp but that you enjoy:

I’m a platoria girlie for life, but victeazer is also super cute :))) I don’t really subscribe specifically to a lot of ships, but that’s one I see come up a lot and I do think it’s adorable as hell <333

The same goes for Demeter and Alonzo or Demeter and Munkustrap. I’m a HUGE Demulrina fan, but any combinations with Demeter are probably gonna be really good. She’s a very lovable girlie 🫶

18. A fandom tag you track:

…none of them. I only track about 10(?) tags, and none of them are cats. If I feel the need to go find something, I go on a binge of the tag, but I don’t like seeing the little box at the top clicked for some reason. It just doesn’t look right.

If I were to follow a tag, it would probably be Jemima, Victoria, Pouncival, or maybe just the Cats OC tag to be honest.

10: oh man i think it was actually thursday! my best friend (that reminds me so much of charlie) kept getting math questions wrong and we couldn’t stop wheezing and it was great :)

15: i have two! my first one is blueberry bagels and strawberry cream cheese, the taste just sends me back to when things were a little simpler. and i’ve always loved sauerkraut and sausage, maybe it’s because i’m german but i was raised on it and it’s had a special place in my heart ever since!

16: i have so many things on my list. i need to sew a book cover/pouch/thing, i need to make a whole bunch of scrapbook pages, and i still have many drawings to start and even more to finish

21: all of them. i can’t decide i love all of them so so much :(( but okay okay wait: tea literally whenever, hot cocoa during the autumn/winter, and coffee for early mornings or right before dusk :)
