1) Are you named after anyone?

No, I’m not. My mum says they decided on my name in a way that they were reading out the options and chose the one that made me start kicking. So, basically, I chose my own name.

2) When is the last time you cried?

I think it was last week during some film. I can’t remember what it was.

3) Do you have kids?

I don’t.

4) Do you use sarcasm a lot?

Quite a lot.

5) What’s the first thing you notice about people?

Their clothes. And those are the last thing I forget about them. There are some people whose name I couldn’t tell, but I can recall what they were wearing the last time we met.

6) What’s your eye colour?

Brown.

7) Scary movie or happy ending?

Happy ending. I’m not a fan of scary movies.

8) Any special talents?

Finding research topics, maybe? I could always find some good stuff to look into in an academic way.

9) Where were you born?

In Debrecen, the second biggest city in Hungary

10) Do you have any hobbies?

Yes, I love going to the theatre, doing theatre, watching films, taking walks, crafting.

11) Do you have any pets?

In my parents’ house there are a few stray cats if that counts.

12) What sports are/have you played?

When I was in primary school (well, thechnically middle school) I used to swim and played basketball (for only a few months tho), but nowadays I only dance. Not sure if that counts.

5'4"

14) What’s your favourite subject in school?

Literature

Right now it’s to be a writer for a sitcom.

My words are growl, anticipation, breeze, sweet, and gasp. Putting excerpts behind the cut.

I have a bunch of WIPs so I'm going to split these up.

Growl (from rejected writing for Silver Ogre)

His tongue felt stuck. He could lie, make up a name, any name, but no good name came forth in his mind. He couldn’t remember his name, or his friends’ names, or the street he’d grown up on. “I... I don’t...”

The widest of them brought his axe up and growled. “Enough!” he shouted. “Take this, monster!” He took a swing.

The weapon was heavy and easy to dodge. The ogre skittered back into the shadows. “Wait! Wait!” he shouted. “Please, just listen!”

Anticipation (none of my works have this word in it.  😔 )

Breeze (excerpt from Of Kings and Monsters)

Sil gulped and looked him over from her vantage point sitting on the deck. His chest and feet were bare. He had a shirt, but rather than wearing it, it was tucked into his shorts and hanging around his waist like a wrap. His skin was shining with sweat and impressively tanned. His hair was tied back into his regular tight ponytail, and the puff of it blew back and forth in the ocean breeze. 

“Yeah,” Sil said, feeling her cheeks flush. “You look badass.” 

“Damn right I do,” he said. He held his hand out to help her to her feet.

Sweet (excerpt from The Third Task)

“I’m not,” Babs said. She reached over and laid her hands over Sil’s. “Honestly, darlin’, I’m not. He’s too high ranked for me, for starters. When I settle on a consort, I need to pick someone who no one expects to upstage me. Someone handsome and sweet and dumb as a box of rocks.”

Gasp (excerpt from High Marks and Low Riders)

“Fuck ‘em.”

He let out a dramatic gasp. “Sil! Such language! And about your academic record, no less.”

She giggled. “Oh my god, I can skip one class. It’s the day before spring break. Literally no one will be there.”

friendly advice from vetmed: I know that when your animal has an infection that is generating a lot of discharge, you want to describe that to the veterinarian, because it’s a concerning sign. that is true. I also know that the most common word for this type of discharge is “pus,” so it’s logical that that’s the word that you’ll use when describing what’s going on. and in English, we often add a “-y” when we’re using a word as a descriptor.

god I'm so fucking furious at the removal of Te Reo Māori names from organisations around Aotearoa. it's a complete non-issue, every organisation has the English name directly underneath the Māori name. I have never once as an English speaker been unable to understand what an organisation is for. Winston Peters, the Deputy Prime Minister, who is literally Māori himself, said “Te Papa is a historic name but tell me this waka kotahi, how many boats have you seen going down the road?”. Waka does not just mean canoe. it means vessel, and waka kotahi (the transport agency of Aotearoa) explains this VERY SIMPLY on their official website. waka kotahi means to travel together as one. Can you see how fucking upsetting this is. A Māori person in power who is in agreement about banning his own language, being so cocky about something that he does not even understand due to the suppression of the language of his people. It makes me sick. I've seen reports from Māori people all over Aotearoa speaking out about how upset and furious they are, how decades of progress have been undone in the fight to restore the rights of their people who have for so long been oppressed and have suffered the effects of colonisation. Please share this if you can, I hate knowing how few people will hear about this, I know there is so much injustice in the world right now and it is so exhausting, I know. I love you all, keep it up.
