Hello! Firstly I want to thank you for sharing the brilliance that is Lionheart, it is truly a masterpiece and is canon now to me. All of your characterizations are incredible, Draco is of course amazing. I also adore how you write strong women. Hermione obviously but also Ginny, Fleur, and tonks are brilliant. I have to ask who is your fan cast for your characters? Does it change as they get older? Curious about Draco and Hermione but would love any info on all of them.
First, thank you for a really wonderful compliment. Second: this is a really fun question! I hope my answers aren't interpreted as definitive versions of how the characters appear in Lionheart; in fact, some of my fancasts actually look quite different from how I picture the characters in my head, because... well, nobody looks just like I picture them in my head! So I'm going to just rattle off a few people who I think would be good casts in terms of stage presence and knack for the role, in addition to looks!
I've written somewhere before about my Draco not being Hollywood Handsome, but a specific kind of inbred aristocrat WeirdHot, like a younger Skarsgård energy. A young Jamie Campbell Bower, maybe? He has the cheekbones for it. Hermione I'm much more picky about, because she canonically (for both!) is sort of plain — not necessarily because of her features, she just doesn't put effort into her appearance — and pretty much every recognizable actress I could name is going to be some order of knockout. Dixie Egerickx, maybe? With a good wig.
Ginny is a really hard role to play (and bless Bonnie Wright, she really tried, it's not her fault the script gave her peanuts). She's a jock, and she has that kind of jockish "I'm a dick but also somehow the kindest person you'll ever meet" energy that's hard to play. I could see Sadie Sink doing a great job here — her work on Stranger Things shows off that combined toughness with vulnerability really well. Fleur has an ethereal, dainty, almost unnerving beauty, very birdlike, which reminds me of Tamzin Merchant (Georgiana Darcy in Pride and Prejudice 2005, for ref.) Tonks gets to change all the time, but when Draco sees her, she's giving Bellatrix, so like — Alexandria Daddario, probably? But take down the eyes, like, 15%.

Tamzin Merchant for Daenys! Because you have young and older versions of her!
Okay, but I love her & keep wanting to use her for something but it never feels quite right. There was about a week where Tamzin was Daenys's oldest daughter/Aemma before I remembered that I do illustration & the hair color doesn't necessarily have to line up
She's such a fun thought for Daenys though, & if I wasn't married to her as Sophia Anne Caruso/Viva Bianca this would be such the strongest argument to switch things up
#asks#nat tag#oc: daenys targaryen#tamzin i will give you your day in the sun one day i promise bc ily

Space Pirates (name still undecided) WIP Intro
What Is It?
Title: TBD
Genre: Dark romance, horror, sci-fi, fantasy (a whole mess of things)
Status: 150k into a first draft and I'm not even halfway through the plot
Summary: 10 years ago the Monroe family home was burned to the ground when the pirate Zephyr and his crew raided it and stole their eldest children, 16-year-old Sirena Monroe and 18-year-old Tobias Monroe and the teenagers were assumed dead when no ransom was asked. Today, Felicity and Rosalia Monroe, the twins who were left behind, find their family home cursed and those within it trapped in time, doomed to fade into shadows if the curse isn't undone. With the advice and help of a witch, they disguise themselves and find a crew willing to take them to Pluto, a place no one goes. The Captian and first mate of this ship are faces that the twins had thought they would never see again and, as they soon realize, a lot can change in 10 years.
How It's Written: I'm weaving together Felicity and Rosalia's quest and Tobias and Sirena's 10 years in alternating POV chapters. So there would be a Sirena chapter taking place at the start of 10 years ago, then a Felicity chapter in the now, then Tobias in 10 years ago, then Rosalia in the now, then the cycle starts again. I'm hoping this will create a sharp contrast between the Sirena and Tobias that we first meet at the start of their story and the Sirena and Tobias that we meet at the start of Felicity and Rosalia's story and as the story progresses you'll see how these characters came to be as they are. That said, I prefer to write chronologically so I've only written from Sirena and Tobias's POV so far.
What The Fuck: Yes, Sirena and Tobias are siblings, yes they fall in love. This is an incest dark romance story about a pair of siblings who are wildly codependent. Their relationship is not healthy and it's portrayed in a romantic light, but if they were real people they would need therapy and I would be horrified by them. Luckily, they are fictional. I will slap some warnings on the story so no one will go in without knowing what it's about, but. Yeah. Also, both Sirena and Tobias kill people and Sirena eats people, if the ONLY thing you're objecting to is the incest idk what to tell ya.
Main Characters
Sirena De Ville (prev Monroe): Pirate Captain of the Kraken Rose, known as the Siren of the Void, reputation for being cannibalistic and unhinged. Her moral compass is inscrutable to anyone but her and Tobias (and Holly on most days). Beneath it all, Sirena is kind of awkward, having had very little social interaction and even less normal social interaction since she was 9 and her parents all but abandoned her and Tobias. She tends to feel her emotions at a blinding intensity or not at all with little in between. She has been doing witchcraft in secret with Tobias since she was 13. She views Holly as her truest and closest friend (besides Tobias) and Tamzin as a mother. She does NOT view Zephyr as a father no matter how often he tries to be her dad and does, in fact, hate his guts and want him dead.
Tobias De Ville (prev Monroe): First mate of the Kraken Rose, known as Sirena's right arm and the only one able to control her. He doesn't actually control her at all and enjoys how batshit she is. He is seen as the more reasonable of the pair mainly because he is a generally quiet person. Has been doing witchcraft with Sirena since he was 15. The list of people he truly trusts is very small, though he doesn't treat people with any sign of distrust. He views Holly as a close and true friend, second only to Sirena, and he views Tamzin as a mother. He hates Zephyr about as much as Sirena does. Lets Sirena do the talking because he somehow has less social skills than she does, and that's not a very high bar.
Felicity Monroe: Angry, openly distrustful of most, not a fan of her parents no matter how much they started trying to be better after Sirena and Tobias were taken. She has a perfect memory, having never forgotten a single moment in her life, and this has given her a lot of depression, frustration, and anger at the world and the people around her. She is, on the surface, a deeply bitter person who hides how much she can care about others for fear of being hurt. She is afraid all of the time, though you would never guess that by interacting with her.
Rosalia Monroe: Cheerful, considered naive by most because of her optimistic outlook on most things. He is genderless, though they don't mind presenting as a lady because he likes dresses. She is a bit silly and wildly charismatic, though they have no friends to show for it because, like his twin, she is terrified of making deeper connections with people. They also have a keen interest in engineering and the construction of starships, much to her parents' delight.
Other Important Characters
Holly Graves: Habitual thief and former rich kid who was abducted by Zephyr a few years before Tobias and Sirena. She quickly forms a close friendship with the pair, realizing quickly that they probably come from a similar background.
Zephyr Crescent: All around terrible person and Captain of the Serpant's Revenge before Sirena and Tobias took the ship from him and renamed it. There is a curse on him and he has learned how to manipulate it to keep others under his control. When he sees Sirena bite a man's ear off he decides that he wants her to be his heir. Sirena, quite frankly, does not want to be anyone's heir, but Zephyr doesn't care what anyone else wants.

Tamar is a very pretty name.
If you're interested I did a little digging (not very deep) and apparently the female version of Thomas is Thomasina (also spelt Thomasine or Thomasena). Thomasina is often shortened to Tamsin. Tamsin has a half dozen varients itself.
Tamsyn, Tamzin, Tamsen, Tammi and Tamasin.
Tom as its own name doesn't seem to have many female varients, but one of the sites I found did list Tamar as an option.
Toma, Tamsin, Tamsyn, Tomine, Tamar, Tama, Tamara was the full list. I don't know if they are official names, so to speak, for a female Tom but there you go.
Anyone ever think about what Fem!Tom's name would be?
I'm very partial to Tamar. I can't really explain why, I've just always liked it.

A Sketch of Dany that I made as I was looking this older portrait that I did and thinking how much I dislike the face, so I did a sketch based on Tamzin Merchant. It doesn't look like her very much but I need to say how happy I am, I made huge progress this year and did stuff on this sketch that i totally didn't knew about like a month ago, so the message to my fellow artists friends is to never give up, work on what you don't like, and appreciate what you like on your own art and trust the journey, that is fundamental.

dev no offence but shouldn't you be keeping personal packs for a treat or something once you do commissions? just a thought
I feel like I knew this was coming the minute I got excited on dash about finding the eps of that show. I've worked my ass off doing commissions even when I don't feel well. I daily work on comms and try to finish all the ones i can asap. All my current ones are huge though. but lets take a look at the recent comms i've done, and i'll include packs where I was tipped even tho they weren't a commission.
850 gifs of Ruth Wilson in His Dark Materials S01 (I also did s2 which was 1,009 gifs for the same person)
381 gifs of Eve Harlow in Heroes Reborn
762 gifs of Jack Lowden in Slow Horses (moved it to high priority bc somone tipped me to so it counts) 521 gifs of Eli Brown in Gossip Girl 1x07 - 1x12
428 gifs of Diego Boneta in Die in a Gunfight
582 gifs of Katie Stevens in The Bold Type 1x01 & 1x02
650 gifs of Ayca Aysin Turan in Zemheri 10
935 gifs of Tamzin Merchant in The Tudors (Literally just posted that last night)
This doesn't include the not yet posted comms i daily (unless i feel extra bad on dialysis days) work on. So yeah I do think I can take a day where I don't usually gif (a dialysis day) and gif a fave in 2 45 minute episodes I've been super excited for for what 2 years ago now that show was announced?

I kid you not @safifonhasstrel
They can dress it up all they like there's just no hiding they're BIG MAD abt miss emilia clarke they've got problems with EVERYTHING lol with her having hair with her having an adult figure (??????) with her wearing blue like my god
I'm the last person to go after the casting bc personally I don't like the majority of the game of thrones OR house of the dragon casting but the problem I have is not that I consider being bald ugly or anything. Like where do you get off just deciding that? Poor tamzin is catching strays as well like give it a rest. Show!Daenerys looks like a grown woman because... she is. Book!Dany is a teenager and all this debate about whether she is in fact beautiful or not is nauseating and reeks of jealousy bc of how she's known in-world.
"let dany look ugly" says a whole jonsa shipper who doesn't have any issues with daenerys... oh wait 🤡
whenever sansa stans cry abt dany's casting i can't help but wonder at their reading comprehension all over again

One Dress a Week Challenge
July: Red
Carnival Row (episode 6, "Unaccompanied Fae") / Tamzin Merchant as Imogen Spurnrose
Up to this point, Imogen has been wearing pastel dresses, so when Mr. Agreus sends her this bold red outfit as a gift, it shows that he sees something different from what she presents as her normal public face. And the excursion she takes with him in this dress is going to change her views on herself, her life, and him.
This is actually a two-piece set with a jacket over a dress--at least, I think I saw some sleeves in the super-quick shot when Afissa (the maid) takes the under-layer out of the box. The leg-of-mutton sleeves give it an 1890s feel.
A high-res version of the first picture is here. You can zoom in on it and really appreciate the texture of the cloth (velveteen?), the pompom fastenings in front, and the intricacy of the decoration on the hat. It's just too bad it's not a full-length view and doesn't include the fun pompom trim at the bottom of the jacket.

Fox_Maiden: Along with her acting chops, I think Tamzin would have made a better Dany because she fits her physical book appearance way more than EC did. She's equally beautiful, but in a much more unusual way that doesn't fit the Fairy Tale Barbie Ideal D&D used to hook viewers and make Dany seem like a traditional White heroine. Everything about GOT Dany's appearance was deliberate from her long princess curls, to her china doll makeup, and her clingy Greek goddess-like gowns.
Yep. They put all their bets on her bringing in the viewers and that’s why the show crashed and burned. They had put her up on a pedestal in detriment to the writing of other characters.

Books of 2021 - February*
I had a much better reading month in February - well I feel better about it, there's not actually much materially different. I've also come to the conclusion I only adore books that make me sad - I do love a good cathartic cry...
Promise of Blood - Brian McClellan (Powder Mage Trilogy #1)
Unfortunately, this book didn't work for me - I found writing style a bit clunky and very utlitarian, the magic felt off with it's strange mix of styles (I'm still not over the magic food), and the characters felt a bit flat. As I much prefer character driven novels and it can massively turn me off a book if the characters aren't quite up to scratch which was sadly the case here. I just didn't care about Taniel, Tamas, Adamat, and so forth - it seriously impacted the stakes of the novel, especially when the action was repetitive and there were no quiet spots to off set the number of fight scenes/intense moments.
However, it's a decent opening novel for someone else, but it was a bit too plot heavy and reliant on the hard magic system. The magic felt gimmicky and clearly followed Sanderson's rules of magic without rationalising some of the limitations (I'm still not sure if the Priviledged gloves gave them magic or acted as a bridge? And why does gold stop the powder mages?) You can tell McClellan is one of Sanderson's students through his writig style and the way he constructs his world, characters, and magic system. Unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the right spot for me. It's a perfect reminder that just because a style works for me with one author, doesn't mean it'll work in another. I finished this book out of a baffled, addicted curiosity but I won't be finishing the whole trilogy. (Just to state again - it's a decent book, just not my cup of tea!)
How to Marry a Werewolf - Gail Carriger**
I loved this novella, in fact it's possibly my favourite Carriger story yet (and I'm now up to date with the entire Parasolverse!) It was a fun, touching romance that made me feel all gushy! Faith and Channing were brilliant romantic leads, exactly the sort of characters I fall in love with. The drama, the supporting cast, and character growth were exactly what I wanted and needed.
Carriger is my ultimate comfort read and this made me nervous approaching a book about Major Channing - he's not the most approachable of romantic heroes, you know? But I fell in love with him and Faith (I might actually like Channing more than any of the other male leads? Shocking!) Their growth together made my heart melt and I was so invested by their get-together I actually gasped out loud - I was far too emotionally attached for a 180 page book... I cannot recommend it enough, I was half convinced I didn't love the novellas (sorry Miss Gail, I like big books!) but this completely changed my mind on both novellas and Channing. Overall, I'm a very happy bunny and now I can restart the series all over again.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
I'm a woman of a certain age, I grew up with these books and, as such, they'll always have a place in my heart (and childhood.) However, I'm only including it on this list because I read it with a friend and to keep track of all the books I read.
Anne of Green Gables - L.M. Montgomery
This was so cute! I had so much fun reading this book, Anne is a precious sweetheart who deserved Matthew and Marilla. The flowers, whimsy, small domestic comedy, childish drama, and quite comfort were absolutely lovely. I fell in love with Anne's small world and then L.M. Montgomery broke my heart. I've never cried at a children's book so much and it was devastating (I knew it was coming but not in this book...) Absolutely fabulous!
Royal Assassin - Robin Hobb (Farseer Trilogy #2; Realm of the Elderlings #2)
I've talked about this book and series enough - safe to say I still love it, Fitz is our favourite idiot, I still fancy Verity, and the Fool is the best. See the rest of my blog for more thoughts!
Currently Reading
The Burning God - R.F. Kuang
The Hatmakers - Tamzin Merchant
Shadow and Bone - Laini Taylor (I know... I fell for the hype around the TV show... Teenaged me would have loved it though)
*Once again I have not proof read, not even sorry at this point (I proof read too much for uni
**In which I use too much punctuation, I just loved this novella okay?!

In my quest to fan cast the Black Jewels series by Anne Bishop, here are my humble suggestions:
-
Helena Albright as young Jaenelle (Book 1)
Reasoning: Young Jaenelle is meant to be cute but unsettling, unearthly in a way that makes other people nervous but still able to retain that bubbly self righteousness of childhood. This girl is going to teach you magic, if you can prove to her she can trust you.
Tamzin Merchant as grown Jaenelle (Book 2 + 3)
Reasoning: We've seen Tamzin in The Tudors, Salem, and when she was younger, as Georgiana in Pride and Prejudice. She has the girlishness to play someone coming of age, with the ability to carry herself in a way that speaks of another time... or another realm. An older Jaenelle is dealing with the trauma that occurs at the end of Book 1, and I think this actress has the chops necessary to show the complexities of dealing with that and growing up.
Luke Evans as Saetan
Reasoning: Evans is no stranger to fantasy. Though he's not quite as old as I picture Saetan (once he's received some rejuvenation, which happens in book 1) I think he'd be a good choice because of the timelessness to his maturity. He was the most difficult to find because the story often remarks on how Daemon is Saetan's mirror, so the actors must look similar.
Jonathan Rhys Myers as Daemon
Reasoning: Daemon's character is described with a slightly more Persian bent, but hear me out: Myers in Dracula (2013) has the cold, cruel darkness necessary for Daemon's character (also called The Sadist) and the necessary untamed sexual chemistry. This guy has been a pleasure slave at various courts for over a thousand years. He's completely honed his skills, is utterly bored, and desperate for a real Queen to serve.
Mido Hamada as Lucivar
Reasoning: as an Eyrian warrior (even a half breed, as they are quick to point out), Lucivar is used to being on the battlefield. For centuries he's decimated territories at command, and has been enslaved in some of the worst conditions. That doesn't break his spirit, however, and you need an actor who can pull off both Utterly Terrifying Warlord and Big Brother / Dad Energy, and Hamada showed he could do just that in SyFy's Emerald City.
Anna Brewster as Surreal
Reasoning: Surreal is a stiletto wielding whore assassin cultivated under Daemon's tutelage until she pushed him too far, leaving her fearful of him. She has to be beautiful, daring, and ruthless, and Brewster excellently encapsulates these characteristics in a similar role, as Madame Montespan in Versailles.
Caitriona Belfe as Dorothea
Reasoning: Dorothea is a High Priestess (one rank below Queen) who, in her quest to achieve and maintain power, has been culling future Queens and taking over territories for centuries. She is conniving, cutthroat, and courtly. She plans all her moves carefully and has used her sexuality to her advantage. I would love to see Belfe in a darker, more evil role, and considering her acting prowess, I have no doubt she could do the job.
Gillian Anderson as Alexandra Angelline
Reasoning: as Jaenelle's grandmother and ruler of a territory, Alexandra must have some familial similarities with our protagonist as well as the age and grace of a Queen. Though it's not the largest role, Alexandra's decisions about her family set much of the plot in motion, and that deserves the weight of a actress who can give the role it's due gravitas.
-
There are obviously many, many other characters, but these are the ones who spoke most strongly to me. Maybe someday a network will take on the challenge that is the Black Jewels trilogy, but until then, there's always the books.

- Kit, doesn't like Dany or Cersei,
- Euron's actor. Was traveling for work and posted on his insta a picture of a GOT pinball game, and someone asked 'where's dany?' and he replied 'who?',
- Sean Bean, Sean said an interview he would either Sansa or Arya on the Iron Throne,
- George RR Martin, GRRM himself doesn't like Dany much, and has said that in many interviews,
those are the only ones I can think of.
I'm pretty sure, Sophie joked about Dany being dead in Buzzfeed Interview.
-Tamzin Merchant who was gonna play Dany said in a interview she knew where Dany's story was gonna go
Any celebs other than Loras’ actor who knew how problematic Daenerys was going to be.. or did all celebs fall for the POV trap
Oh wait, Nikolaj was seen to not like her either (I think as well).

Hello! I am currently looking for a faceclaim that is 16-21 (or appears that way!), female, blonde or pale hair (can be a light brown, preferably blonde though!) with blue or brown eyes with a nice/strong jawline and can fit in with the whole supernatural aesthetic. Period resources would be lovely, but they're not necessary! Also, ethnicity doesn't matter too much! Thank you for /any/ help you can offer and for your time❤️
I’ve answered a similar question (in terms of supernatural) here but I’ve come up with some more choices for you, these ones more directed towards the period resources and the age.
Claire Holt
Aimee Richardson
Hannah Murray
Tamzin Merchant
Alicia Vikander
Emilia Clarke
