okay so im actually making this Gallery of Evil dating sim and am very very excited about it.

My partner and I planned out the storylines together for most of today and we have all the endings/main storyline done. Next we're going to work away at dialogue. Also already have a system that we'll be using to build the game off of and built a small silly thing to practice with coding on it which was surprisingly easy!

Art will be done at the very end but ill be doing some little doodles in the meantime as inspiration

It'd very probably start with Mai running to hug Jack but then realizing something's very off because he doesn't reciprocate, and instead asks who she is

She'd question his looks ofc, like the beard. But there's something she'd question way more than that

Then they'd just discuss about her Jack and their timeline

I think it'd be funny if the new Pristine Cut gallery included the number/percentage of lines of dialogue seen.

It’d probably be too immersion-breaking to work as a serious idea, but just imagine beating the game for the first time, going to the gallery and seeing you've seen like 5% of the total dialogue in the game. Jaw drop moment

#og post #stp #tpc #slay the princess #the pristine cut #the real issue is that it'd make people try to see 100% of the lines which would be. an ordeal #bc aside from all the branching paths & optional dialogue & different voice combos #there's also so many subtle dialogue changes depending on the most seemingly inconsequential choices #the first one i remember noticing was skeptic's line in prisoner as you go down the stairs #usually he wonders if she remembers us #but sometimes he instead wonders what visitors she could referring to #i remember seeing the alternate line and doing a double take lol #i haven't looked at the code or anything but i'm pretty sure it's based on if you’d verbally acknowledged that you'd been there before #it's the sort of thing that 95% of players wouldn't consider especially if they're just trying to get to the cabin as quickly as possible #but like. if you hadn't said anything before it wouldn't make sense for skeptic to reveal that you'd been there before in a throwaway line #he's too clever for that #especially if he's thinking similarly to prisoner who tries not to ''give away the game'' by acknowledging the last chapter #so like. absolutely incredible attention to detail and responsiveness to player choices #but also a hypothetical dialogue completionist's nightmare haha

Woke up having a crisis about if I want an MD or an MD PhD………. It’s so over

#What do I want out of this LIFE!!!!!#Like I know what I want it’s to become a doctor I’ve wanted that since I was a child #But when I went to college I actually fell in love w research but didn’t get to do as much as of it as I want and now I’m like but I love #Science and I love research #Like a big part of why medicine is so attractive to me is for the science of it all #But I also love medicine too so can’t see myself just doing a PhD and not practicing #So an MD PhD makes sense but I also wanna specialize eventually and not just be in academic medicine #It’s actually so over for me I need 5 different advisors to tell me I’m insane #I’m the ideal Arab child in the sense that my parents did not brainwash me into wanting to be in medicine bc it’s #Literally just naturally what I want #But my issue is all the paths I can take to get there bc there are SO many

obviously Jamie not being in season 4 would suck mostly because I simply want Jamie to be there and to get more of his story and get to enjoy more interactions between Jamie and the other characters. At the end of the day though, I can just not watch s4, which I'm perfectly okay with.

what sucks EVEN MORE to me, and is far harder to avoid, is that not having Jamie in the show totally changes the *canon* of the character in a way that will inevitably bleed over into fan spaces, regardless of whether or not I'm actively watching. However they write him out (I assume it would just be having him go to another team) becomes the new "Jamie Tartt canon." And that small thing totally changes his story and we don't even get to see it play out! When i was perfectly happy playing in my sandbox of a million equally valid possibilities.

#the one thing about s3 that was truly great was that it gave us an ending so successfully ambiguous you could really imagine anything #we could take the story anywhere we wanted to take it!#like. I don't WANT all of my fics to become AUs simply because they needed an easy way to write a character out of the story #and i don't want my fandom space to be constantly clouded by his absence.#does that make sense?#like i really do fear it would make both seasons 1-3 and the fandom space substantially less fun for me #:(#it has little to do with not wanting jamie to ever go to another club even. because i do think that's a realistic option obvs.#it's just that like. in fic there's a million interesting ways to explore that! and it's just one of a whole bunch of possibilities!#he could do a lot at richmond before leaving. he could play elsewhere in the uk or internationally!#his relationships with different characters change in different ways depending on where he goes and what he does #and ultimately each of those playgrounds have different toys!#but on the show his path would be set in stone AND we wouldn't get to play with any of the toys on the playground. you know.#im willing to let go of more jamie tartt content but i don't want no more jamie content PLUS other content that changes his canon. ugh #ted lasso #jamie tartt

#BEHIND THE CODES SPRINGTRAP NOOO #Hi. im posting this here during a break from studying. i'll be back soon though #:]#i plan on making some springdad au animations in the future to better my skills #working on the au helped me get through some stuff irl and honestly im not ready to let go of it so soon #i'd say its different from the aftons suburb one. i had lost interest in it when it became some sort of shitpost #there is nothing wrong in having 'shitpost aus' but ig its not how i wish to view things #i do like ephemeral stuff #things that last for a while and that make you think 'woah. im glad i had the opportunity to see this' are always my favorite #aftons suburb was one of these cases #springdad au is going through the same path. but i trully believe theres more content to come from it #oh and about BTC?#i took a break from it. its been two or three months since that folder was last opened (and if i did open it. i didnt do anything)#its relatively hard to come up with good dialogs when theres also a need to comprehend how different characters express themselves #especially when said characters are older than you. or smarter than you in some way #some of them speak louder. while others will speak through their actions #thought i had to grow up a bit more to understand how these things work.#turns out. that mindset was blocking the whole creative process #anyway. its going to take a while #thank you for your patience
