Don't see him as a big cuddler tbh. I think he does every once in a while when its convenient, but i see him preferring to have his own space more. Like still laying in one bed with his partner, looking something together, but everyone has their personal space. Thats the feeling u'll get when cuddling with felix. Of relaxation, but not quite. Just purging u off negative energy and tension. Cuddling will also be filled with talks and fun and jokes etc im hearing and also - im seeing he won't be shying away from pda. Im seeing lots of cuddling and embracing in public. Seungmin sadly is also one of the non-cuddlers. Im hearing "its a waste of time" and he would prefer to indulge in a hobby by himself, get some work done, run errands tasks etc, or spend quality time with his partner (but like doing something together, actively). But just laying on the couch, together, doesn't seem very appealing to him. He doesn't like it as far as i can pick up on the energy. Despite all that im seeing him cuddling A LOT nonetheless, probably because his partner loves it, and he loves his partner and wants to make them happy, so persay he doesn't like cuddling itself but he likes making his partner happy. Not seeing many clues on how he actually cuddles, but the card shows strong focus on the partner and mirroring to some degree so i assume he just cuddles the way his partner likes. So there's no one set way - it depends on who he's with. Also another important point is that this is not the case for all his partners. The person he's with has to be very special, and he has to love them very much. So yeah - they get that special treatment cuddles.

He got almost all the same cards as felix😂 i'd say he really loves cuddling, he does it often and likes to keep a constant "schedule". Like he would definitely notice and miss it if today he only cuddled his partner once, for example. Or if in the morning they forgot or didn't have time to cuddle. He'll definitely notice the difference and miss it throughout the day. I think he needs that constant energy to keep him strong and balanced (like mentally/emotionally) and it just gives him a sense of comfort and makes him feel loved in the relationship. I think physical contacts very important to him. I also see him get easily aroused when cuddling and often wanting to slap some cheeks after the cuddle sesh. Im seeing high libido overall, may be a reason for why physical contacts so important to him and why he needs that to feel lm throughout the day. Now i don't mean him needing that every 30 min. But he needs a consistent routine as i said, for example in the morning, then when he gets home, then after dinner, then while watching a movie, during cooking, before falling asleep etc. like just once for a few minutes isn't enough. Not getting much insight on the cuddling itself tho...so i think he doesn't have much preferences as long as its cuddling and just physical contact and just like...their bodies being pressed close to one another. I think he likes cuddling in a layed down position, like he's on his back and his partners on top yk? But not just the head the whole body. Or he has his head on their belly or butt. Just something of that sort, more horizontal cuddling.

Finished Kurohyou 3 today, 7/10 overall, mixed opinions but i had a lot of fun with it :D really hope they remaster these games at some point. more detailed review below the cut:

-I think the departure from Tatsuya and the previous cast was way too sudden, the game essentially revolves around a completely different cast with no connection to the other games. Basically the only thing they share is dragon heat and some of the minor/substory characters. Even Ryusho is only mentioned by name (and killed off! WTF). you dont see shinji, tamotsu and yuta even though the whole conflict of the second game was so they could continue to fight in dragon heat...

-but in all fairness the new characters they introduce are some of my favourite in any yakuza game. there is a focus on newer generations, like with Rei and mc chick being dragon heat's medic and announcer instead of taizan and DJ Rikuoh. Kenta is a really good protagonist, I'd compare his rivalry with Toshi to Tatsuya and Ryo Nozaki in K2 where they are two sides of the same coin but ideologically opposed. He comes from a similar place to tatsuya, he wants to leave his criminal past behind but the difference is he isnt able to do that as easily, and neither can his friends, some of whom (like Keicho) are dependant on dragon heat for various reasons.

-the combat is kind of lacking imo, mechanically it is good for the same reasons it is as in K2 but i liked the appeal of having 20+ fighting styles to switch between. Kenta only has yaw yan as his base style and can use 'sub-styles' that incorporate moves he learns from other characters. it makes sense for his character and i get that they didnt want him to be a tatsuya clone but it is disappointing. you can switch to another character if you are in a co-op battle, but theyre not fun to play if you havent levelled them, which you cant do outside of grinding for hours in ranked tournaments.

-the fights are really good, though, theyre especially compelling since youre forced to fight against friends youve made from earlier in the story. i think its interesting that the game makes you feel bad for winning the fights, because something bad always happens to the loser as a result. its even more heartbreaking that you can still hang out with and learn about these characters outside of DH and around kamurocho, like with yuji at smile burger, even when youre actively ruining their lives. kazuo was such a good villain for this game, i wanted to punch his face every second he was on screen so the final fight was really satisfying. I liked the twist of him being related to hinoka, his motive is kind of ehhh, i dont buy it but its typical for a yakuza game i think that im not gonna scrutinise it that much.

so overall i think its a really good game, on the same level as the other kurohyous but limited by being psp games from 2010 ofc. the soundtrack and minigames slap, and the substories are funny, my favourite was the one where you go around town with jou and one bad thing after another keeps happening to him. oh yeah, and his barber is one of kazuo's accomplices, but you dont know unless you played his substory LOL.

This is about Witcher 3 and how the majority population sucks. I am only just about to go to Skellige so be aware that I havent played the whole game, maybe my whole take will change then

What really resonates about the Witcher is that Geralt is oztrazised. He is the typical masculine loner and he is cool but he is fucking hated and people will let him know everywhere he goes on the street. He just tries to go on with business and ignore it but he has sympathies with other people who are similarily ostrazised. He is constantly faced with how cruel people can be, and he still tries to help them, but he especially tries to protect the minority when he can (at least in my playthrough).

And idk, it's kind of comforting the way that the game is like, "yeah people fucking suck, that's not your fault. Just because it's the majority that doesnt mean they are right and you are allowed to fight back."

Noone Geralt cares about are swayed by the Eternal Fire because they or their friends are the people who the eternal fire is against. The people we are supposed to sympathize with are minorities. They're not entertaining "well maybe they have a point" or making it seem like anything less than the worst humanity can do. I think there is also space in art to show why people are swayed to hate but it's also nice to just have something thats like "yeah, fuck that".

And idk its just kind of nice how it's like: yeah. We see you, this fucking sucks and they are wrong. And Geralt in this way is not the power fantasy of a privelegded person being able to stand up for the weak, it's the power fantasy of an opressed person being strong enough to be able to help his friends and his community.

I keep thinking about an interaction Geralt had with a man in Velen where the man is like "The villagers hate me because I'm a freak"

And Geralt is like "Hey, I'm a freak too bud"

And the guy is like "Yes but you have a purpose, you are powerful, they hate me because I got caught being with a man"

And Geralt is like "Oh...I'm sorry to hear that"

Like yeah. Sure must be nice to be the kind of freak that is strong and have two swords on your back that you can use to kill evil with and protect yourself with and be somehow needed by the larger society. It's a very appealing power fantasy.

But still, I feel like I'm barely scratching the surface because there is also something to be said about how Geralt kills monsters that are often the symptoms of larger injustice but is largely unable to stop human cruelty and society and how it's not the norm for Witchers to intervene in that kind of stuff. And yeah, the male protagonist being an egdy outsider isnt exactly revolutionary but I think what's special about it in this case is that it's not just him thats an outsider, it's also his community and friends and they are in danger because of it.

i think one of the reasons Tatsumi could be interested in Mayoi is because early Christian art (and honestly Christianity in general) is tied to decoding and finding secret meanings in cryptic symbols- the fish, Jonah as a stand in for Jesus, the anchor, rotas slabs, etc. i think an intrest in things like that could lead to him being drawn to people who are strange and closed off, because he can only truly see their full beauty and meaning once their “deciphered”

yeah to an extent, depends on the branch of christianity. tatsumi is also a naturally curious person that likes to keep weird company so hed probably still be drawn to mayoi regardless of religion. also tatsumi has a savior complex that gets stronger the more he cares about someone so he feels like its his responsibility as mayois friend and as a priest to.... fix... him ..? save him? cure him? idk smth like that you get the point, he feels responsible for his friends well being and thats particularly noticeable with mayoi because mayoi is more immediately troubled than his other friends and also has that whole "devils disciple" thing going on so he extra appeals to tatsumis sense of responsibility that comes with his role as a priest (its a priests job to guide people away from the devil etc etc)

Columbia Pictures Month : Bye Bye Birdie

Next film on my Columbia film reviews is the musical Bye Bye Birdie .Now I have no familiarity with the musical ,so will view this as a stand alone thing

Now the plot of this 1963 film is that singing superstar Conrad Birdie (Jesse Pearson ) has just been drafted ,and Rosie (Janet Leigh ) secretsary and fiance to song writer Albert Peterson (Dick Van Dyke) ,has set up a final performance on the Ed Sullivan show ,with a publicity stunt of him kissing a girl from his fan club ,Kim MacAfee(Ann Margeret ) and shennaigans ensue

Soooooo thats the basic plot but um,mm.......Yeah this plot is somehow very complicated and paper thin ,so it makes no damn bit of sense .The story would make more sense if Albert was the agent of Conrad and not a struggling song writer ,I didnt even bring up the fact Albert is also a biochemist ,or Kims jealous boyfriend hugo ,or Alberts overbearing mother .From what I understand the story is supposed to be about Albert and Rosie......But the movie is more about Kim,and while I am thankful made a star out of Ann Margret who does her all with the role ,Kim shouldnt be the focus

Also tangent a big focus on the movie is Ed Sulivan ,he plays himself and his show is a big plot point .Now I was born way after his time,but his TV show was one of the biggest shows in America.....Soley because the guy had connections and paid well cause the guy has NO CHARISMA and by GOD ,HE CANT ACT .And yes I KNOW ,his show was popular cause he got amazing guests like Elvis,The Beatles ,Jim Henson,etc and his job was just to introduce but I am still baffled cause he is one of the most uncharismatic show business people I have ever seen .Sorry to get sidetracked,this has very little to do with the film,I know that but I honestly dont get the appeal of Ed Sullivan and theres a whole damn subplot about Paul Lynde being in love with him basically ,so I had to bring him up

OK so it might seem like I dont like the movie.....But I was entertained ,despite how messy it is.....Most of the songs are good ,not all timers for me but they are fun ,I think the most fun song for me was Kids performed by Paul Lynde ,I think that is the best song in the movie and I was surprised to find Put On A Happy Face came from this .Honestly its just fun to witness the dancing talents of Dick Van Dyke in anything ,and the musical talents of Ann-Margret ,Paul Lynde and surprisingly Janet Leigh .In fact the cast in general is very good,Dick Van Dyke is fun as this mamas boy song writer (Nowhere near as good as his performance in the next years Mary Poppins but hes good ),Janet Leigh is really good and she impressed me in the musical sequences like I said ,Ann Margret while I dont think her character shouldve been the lead COMMANDS the camera and is very good (Her opening song had me concearned but the later songs showed me how good she was ),Maureen Stapleton is frankly hilarious as the overbearing mother,and Paul Lynde is the scene stealer as Kims father ,a lot of his lines made me laugh .The film is also very funny every time I was unsure about the film thered be a really funny joke .I also think George Sidney directs the film well the film going into often surreal and somewhat cartoony vibes

I dunno I dont LOVE the movie.....But I enjoy it .I do reccomend it if you want something kind of silly

i don't (unless its more fun for the scenario) tend to go for the whole one partner ever method much but i do like the idea that a mating bite still does something like it still takes a while to heal (months at least) and can affect your brain at least a little bit

Like they'll feel distressed when apart, get more agitated about other people they disapprove of being too close, lots of feeling like they need to keep the others scent on their skin

and then depending on the scenario it is also fun when it's a really dramatic one and done thing where this action by a third party just completely fucked their life plans up a bit

like with soulmate aus I don't understand at all why Marriage would even be a thing that works how it does irl especially in worlds mating bites are a perm thing

idk my biggest omegaverse pet peeve is when it may as well just be two normal people and nothing about the situation is different

like I've said before that its a very dubcon type of trope and i think it honestly should be like your body is acting in ways you don't necessarily want and all you can do is hope the people around you have better control of themselves then you do in that moment

taking that away from it just always kind of makes me like yeah yeah sure

like i get it you don't want to deal with the more icky aspects of it so you make the heat subdue, you make it have no noticeable effect on those around them, you make the Alpha always strong enough to fight themself enough to say no. To fight back because they would never want to hurt them

where as another way to fuck with Lucius/ punish the Malfoy's for Lucius' fuck up more someone higher in Voldemort's circles (normally Bellatrix in my head because that helps it make sense in my head like yeah shes doing this for that reason but the idea can from a talk with Narcissa about grandchildren so in her crazy way she's like 'it's a perfect opportunity') decides to get Draco knocked up by someone who's undesirable enough to be a problem/disgraceful but not enough where it really 'ruins the pure blood ness' of the child

the kid would never be an actual Malfoy heir but that wasn't the point in the first place kinda thing a living reminder of sorts

so in other words a blood traitor because ive said before but i don't see how being a blood traitor would matter that much its still a pure blood and if said parent were to never be allowed to help raise said child then it really doesn't even matter and Lucius would be pissed and Draco would be a little disgusted so it's perfect

so yeah in an Omegaverse scenario i guess they would just lock them in the same room together and see if it works with plans to kill Percy after it does

but in the main way i think about it Bella forces him to drink the potion (which both parties have to drink) and Imperios him to go to Percy where ever he may be(because i flip flop on where actually this happens) and seduce him(and make him drink his half of the potion) and then they do bang but Draco is able to warn him of what's happening so they actually get to escape and in my head at least Percy panics and contacts Charlie so the end up going to Romania because since in the haze of the potion effecting him and Draco warning him without thinking he would actually do anything they are rightfully assuming the DE's will probably try to kill Draco if he went back so he can't which i imagine would be a bit more difficult in a heat based scenario

but!

you can play with the idea of like true mates in a heat based scenario where that luck of being true mates kept Percy from being killed because Bellatrix wouldnt want her nephew to like outright die (which we are going to say is what would happen)

but now instead he's practically a prisoner so still in a bad situation

another concept i used to think about alot is an asshole teacher holding an Alpha's face up against a very near/ currently in heat Percy's neck in this scenario mating bites are one and done thing though so if said Alpha breaks they will be tied together forever

normally its Snape but it's been Remus or Lockhart a few times in my head too though never did anything with it because while i really like the concept it doesn't fit any of the available characters very well and feels kind of ooc without figuring out their motivations (well i mean ig Lockhart could just a voyeur now that i think about it, the best i could come up with for Remus was knowing he was Percy's like true mate and he's trying to run by practically pushing Percy into someone else's arms, Snape just being a bitch though idk his motives are they pissed him off idk)

to me like i think the best teacher for it would be actually Barty as Moody i don't even think it would need an explanation tbh just ah yeah he would.

but that doesn't work as well with Percy because i can't see him being around the school after graduating when his heats about to hit i mean unless it was all planned ig Barty jr. could plan that sort of thing I've made him plan worse things regarding Percy in my head so i think it could work but even then its a wobbly maybe like a heat accelerant where Percy though he was in the clear for a good few weeks just to be hit with 'oh no-'

People talk about Wolfwood being doomed by the narrative and I disagree, the one doomed by the narrative is Vash. Vash is the one with all the foreshadowing that he's dying. His hair is almost all black, his health and condition are worsening, multiple characters have commented on how he's dying.

90: haunted by nico chan. Wolfwood is shown to be on vash's mind twice once when he decides to attack legato and again when he kills him. Like legato says its notable that now is when vash decides to break his life long 100+ year vow not to kill.

91: the day will come when you have to choose that line's been repeated at least 3 times too bad i cant remember where. Its not just wolfwoods philosophy, vash wanted to protect his legacy or maybe just the reminder that wolfwood once lived.

92: wasnt there a whole thing about how plants can't survive outside of those glass bulbs. Given how many chapters are left i dont think vash and knives are going to fight which is very very interesting narratively and on a meta level. I say that because most of the other fights have taken 5-10 chapters to cover like legato or livio.

93: uh nuclear fallout doesnt work like that. Any blast no matter if it hit knives of the fleet would be spreading radioactive particles. It might not be a direct hit. But thats 2 nuclear detonations. Yall are going to die of radiation poisoning.

94: ticket... what did that represent again... freedom to choose your destination? So the translations all say different things. Vash prays that the plants can choose the end of this confront tation/their future/what side to take. But is the ticket for himself or for them?

95: Also yeah there is no big epic final battle vash appeals to the plants, to bridge the gap between plants and humanity and communicate. As the feather memories drift down plants and humans find a common point in knowing vash. And the plants choose vash's philosophy of live and peace and abandon knives. Hmm so the cable vash stuck to his neck acts as plant life support. Vash has never made a promise to return until now.

96: contrast of vash who's more scars than skin and knives who is regenerating half his body. From knives perspective he's not wrong he really was abandoned by everyone: humanity, rem, vash, and the plants he convinced to his cause. Vash says there's no more reason to fight but knives will not waver.

Oh ho does knives feel a smidge of guilt for breaking their bond first as vash's gun finds his head. Ok im a bit confused did vash just kill chronica? Hmm but the framing isnt right and why would there be an explosion is he black holed it. Oh nvm she's still shooting at them. Vash uses the last of his lifespan to fly them out but he's too weak so knives makes the other wing. Great imagery.

97: the more things change the more thing stay the same man vash just cant stay in the laws good books huh. DID KNIVES TURN INTO A TREE??? Ok ok the most likely reading is that as knives said he was dying and out of power so he used the last of his life to make a miracle that would help humans. HOWEVER i rather like the idea that he ditched vash (because of complicated emotions and history) and is now wandering the world powerless and essentially human. Also isnt vash suppose to die soon the whole black hair thing he was on the point of collapse during the legato(?) fight blood everywhere, bleeding from his eyes falling apart, if vash survives it is technically, technically possible knives did too.

I’m curios to ask (If it’s alright, feel free not if you don’t want to) what makes Underlust your fave Au?

Oh this is a great question! There are a lot of reasons!! Longpost under the cut. Forgive me, i typed this on my phone and i just woke up.

One is the designs. I fucking adore everyones designs! Sans is damn cute! Papyrus is cute! Napstablook is cute! MTT is cute! Grillby is cute! The color palettes and slight deviations that make them unique are all just Artistically Good and they hit me somewhere nice in the visual appeal part of my brain.

Another reason is that I just love the canon story! I mean, yeah, its really dark and tragic what happened to Mettaton. But the point of the story is that he overcomes it. He is able to heal. The story tells us that you can heal even after you get hurt that badly and it doesnt have to define you and thats wonderful and beautiful and something too many people legitimately need to hear.

And the RELATIONSHIPS!! MTT and Papyrus talk it out and have a relationship that isnt based in physicality they just genuinely love each other. And Papyrus is so clearly Ride or Die. It's just GREAT okay? And the Sansby is ALSO GREAT because Sans and Grillby are awkward and never talk until Sans does his drunken confesssion and Grillbz is just like oh god i love this dumb idiot drunk this is my life now.

And MTT and Alphys also have a great relationship! They are close enough to make Girl Talk even after what happened! Alphys knows cuz she patched MTT up but they're still making sass at each other! GREAT!!

Papyrus and Undyne have a great relationship!!! She doesn't infantilize him and admits he is good at the sex part of the job, she just thinks he is too clingy and romance driven to keep himself detached enough for work. And thats a legitimate concern! For his well being and the clients both!

Sans and Papyrus's relationship is great!! There is clearly a standard set of platonic affection being shared between them. They talk and joke and sass and tease each other. Theyre brothers and its great.

(did the creator draw a lot of underlust fontcest too? yes. yes she did. and that was also great. but these are two separate things and even without the obvious -gestures- "theyre fictional skeleton monsters, dont be weird", its also addressed that the fontcest part is not something to model irl.)

And i like to headcanon blooky and sans are friends even though they never interacted in the canon material we got. i like to think they would have eventually if it wasn't discontinued.

I love how the humans are adults and frisk is aroace. i'm afraid of children so having an AU where the humans are all canonically adult is great to me.

I love Toriel and Asgore's relationship. It is tragic what happened to them, but I think it's important that stories not always shy away from that kind of hurt. Some people need stories like that too.

I love Rosie the Rose's design and concept in general.

I also love the LUST mechanic. I love that there is an AU where sex is a prominent, plot relevant, societally prevalent and important thing. I love that as an Asexual, myself. It allows me to explore that topic safely, while having fun. I love how its treated as a both natural (meaning its normal and not gross or weird) and unnatural (not meant for monsters, specifically, under normal circumstances) thing. I love how it is defined as a Very Human thing, and what that can mean to me when analyzed and juxtaposed against the narrative foil to the idea that we are given in Frisk the Asexual.

I kinda love that the whole thing is 80% shitposts and pieces the creator made while just having fun living their best life. Yes the papyton comic, which is the meat of the canon, was done seriously, but so much was made of just the characters having fun being themselves and thats pretty cool too.

I know there is a lot of bad publicity around underlust. I know people have spread terrible rumors about it. I frankly dont care. I know it is a beautiful story made from beautiful art. wherever its creator is now i wish her the best in the world. It is my favorite AU (aside from my own lol) and nobody can change my mind.

So I've got some thoughts about DKR and TT if you'll indulge me for a moment, Purbs. Not plot stuff but like, Meta thoughts.

I've always found it a little odd about myself why while the time travel Au is highkey one of my favorite lmk AUs in the Fandom, and I absolutely ADORE TTRed, I could never really get into DKR other than as the villain of TTRed's story. But i've been in a lord of the rings mood lately and I think i figured it out

so everyone knows that speech Samwise Gamgee gives in Two Towers, yeah? the importance of still keeping hope alive even in the most dire of circumstances because a new day WILL come eventually. the folk in those stories had plenty of chances of turning back but they didn't because they believed that there was enough good in this world to be worth fighting for, and all that.

And keeping hope for the sun to rise even when lost in the darkest of nights is kind of TTRed's whole thing.

Whereas there's very little HOPE in the DKR universe without TTRed there swearing to change the course of fate, which is kind of the point, yes, but the fact that the only permanent solution that's not a full stop bad-end is DKR dying since nothing else will stop him for good as the Calabash storyline proves. and the only way for that to be narratively satisfying is for MK to be the one to kill him, putting more pain and trauma on someone who's already suffered far too much at DKR's hands. leaving that finale while on some level cathartic for the end of a nightmare, still a phyrric victory at best.

i'm not sure if i have a point to all of this so i'm just gonna go reread Test of Time and cry about that one terry pratchett quote and think about the poor traumatized muffin (and btw thats the cutest pet name for TTRed poor dear) "Let there be goblin hordes, let there be terrible environmental threats, let there be giant mutated slugs if you really must, but let there also be hope. It may be a grim, thin hope, an Arthurian sword at sunset, but let us know that we do not live in vain"

Oh my gosh Anon, yes, thank you for this, you absolutely hit the nail on the head here with this analysis!

Demon King Red is about a person losing himself into madness because he doesn't understand what it means to love, and when he's forced to choose between two things he loves he tries to force them both together and it ends up destroying all of them. It's a story of devastation and ruin and nobody comes out of it better than they went in. Meanwhile, Time Travel Red Son's story is about seeing that horror and the cruelty and selfishness and deciding that he will not let it be his own fate, and in doing so he learns what love truly is. It's not something you have or take, it's something you give and receive, and it cannot be forced. And while he doesn't exactly get out of it unscathed either, he's still always working to be a better person and that intent is the most important thing about him and his story.

TT Red is definitely the hope of morning to DKR's black, somber night. So it's completely understandable that you weren't so interested in DKR's story without TT Red there to give it that spark of hope. I definitely agree that a story with only a bleak outcome possible isn't quite as interesting. It's fun to make characters evil and have them suffer, but when it comes to having a full narrative, the lack of hope certainly makes it less appealing. Which is why the traumatized muffin's story is the one I chose to tell in full via a fleshed out fanfic (and yes I agree, that's the best nickname for him lol) and not to spoil anything for that fic, but you're definitely right about the only good ending is going to end up in more trauma for MK (and you're even more right that the story demands it to be MK who kills DKR ultimately) And that ending is only possible because of TT Red's presence.

Also I'm super mega flattered that Samwise Gamgee, the goodest boy of all, reminded you in any way of my story and my traumatized muffin. Steve stared at the roof looking at the white pristine celling. 

He waited for the other person on the other side of the room to finish with her nightly routine. 

He kept staring at the ceiling closing his eyes and for a brief moment he felt you.

His mind had the ability of taking him back to that night, the moment he decided to leave her. Trying to conquer an illusion, a fleeting moment of what should have been. 

His mind told him to do it, but his heart. 

His heart was the most unforgiving part of himself that never really let it go. 

And now here he is age clear on his face, wrinkles in his one youthful hands that made you laugh, that held you when you cried, now old and lonely. 

He had everything he was looking for, or so he thought. 

A knock on the door interrupted his thought making Steve get up from the bed looking outside the window as he makes his way to the front door. 

He opens the door smiling at the man on the other side who had his infamous frown plastered on his face. 

“Come in please,” Steve motions to the living room but the man on the other side doesn’t make a move, for a moment it looks like he could burn at the mere thought of walking through the door. 

“No,” the man says anger written clear on his features. 

“Bucky you’ve been here before,” Steve motions with pleading eyes, but Bucky stays unmoving. 

“You really think I wouldn’t know that Scott wouldn’t tell us what you wanted to do,” Bucky says as he gets more and more exasperated. 

“It’s not what you think,” Steve please as he closes the door and walks to the porch Bucky leaving as much distance as possible. 

“No it’s much worse,” Bucky says. 

“Sam and I receive this call from Scott saying that you met to get back to the past to get back to her.” Bucky says. 

“You already lived your life Steve, you have a wife, kids, and grandkids.” Bucky motions at the house. 

The house that he build but thought of you in every detail, when Peggy would ask about why he would say. 

“Because its meant to be that way.”

She never really mentioned it again but the essence of her was in the house of all time. 

From the constant need to have sunflowers in the kitchen because, 

“Steve if there is gonna be flowers in the kitchen its gonna be sunflowers.” You said softly as you unwrapped the bright flowers from the brown paper.

Or how he still kept the little folded handkerchief you embroided because, 

“That is more your style Steve.” You said softly as you stand on your toes and kiss him softly on the lips.

After all those years Steve could still see you, feel you, and on some night he can almost touch you. 

“Bucky I don’t think you understand, this, this is meant to be hers,” Steve says looking up at the house that took him a good decade yo built.

When Peggy asked him why the changes to the house he was never brave enough to admit that the house never felt his and Peggy’s, he always felt this should’ve been your house with him. 

“This is not her house Steve! She already has a home,” Bucky says accentuating each word he said. 

“Her home, with her fiancé” Bucky said louder coming face to face to the man in front of him. 

The words surprised Steve more than it should. He knew he had no right to complain at this point. You were free the moment he left her, he assumed you would move forward, but he felt the slight betrayal in his core. 

But who was Steve to judge when he was the first one to move forward. 

Still that voice in the back of his mind that always brought you up was, angry, to say the least. 

Steve takes a deep breath and takes a seat over the rocking chairs on the front porch. Another touched you where enamored by. 

“Steve, when we get our house he have to put rocking chairs in the front porch.” You said sternly yet a smile shone on your face. 

“Why is that sweetheart?” Steve ask as serially as he can with you sitting on his lap. 

“Because I know we are growing old together, and you of all people should know that people of a certain age like rocking chairs on the porch, old man.” You say that last part and leap out of his lap running away you giggles is all that can be heard in the apartment as Steve laughs and runs after you. 

“Tell me about it,” Steve motions to the chair, but Bucky stays still.

“Steve you just have to let it go,” Bucky tries to appeal Steve but he knows it’s a lost cause. 

Bucky sighs and sits on the step on the porch, his back turned to Steve as he recalls the news and everything that lead up to it. 

“She actually left New York a couple of weeks after you left,” Bucky recalls with sadness on his eyes. 

Bucky remembers how betrayed he felt, you where leaving him, just like Steve. Of course now he realizes it was for the best, but at the moment, he had a different mind set. 

“You are gonna leave me to? Huh? My so called new sister, just gonna walk away like him?” Bucky yells angry as you turn to him shocked face and tears on your eyes. 

“You don’t get to compare what happened,” You drop the box in your hands and sob. Your sobs clear Bucky’s head for a minute. 

“Steve left us Bucky, he left to follow his dreams, I am allowed to try to move forward!” You yell from the place on the floor as you hug your knees. 

Bucky slowly approaches you realizing that this is bigger than he could’ve ever imagined. He realized in that moment that he was supposed to be Steve’s past, but you, you that opened you life to him. 

You so soft and tender, never an ounce of judgment or regret of letting him in. 

You that tenderly took care of him, welcome him into your home, and called him your brother to anyone who would listen. 

You where supposed to be Steve’s future. 

And now all you both had left was the whole Steve Rogers left. 

“Don’t cry petal, I’m sorry,” He says tenderly as he reaches for you slowly. 

“Do you think that I want to leave my home. My whole life behind.” You say as you calm down and look at Bucky with sadness, but love for him. 

“I know Steve left you too, but you can come with me to Gotham. “ you say as you look at him with determination. 

“But New York is my home,”  Bucky tries to reason. 

“But it’s bit mine anymore,” You say softly as you hold his hand. 

“I am always here Bucky, I just can’t be here anymore.” You motion at the left overs of you heart. 

“I know I am just afraid,” Bucky rest his head on your shoulder. 

“I know but I am you sister James Barnes,” you say determination clear in his voice. 

“ Also someone’s gotta keep an eye on Sam, he’s your responsibility now you know? Handling Captan Americas’. That should be you new name.” You joke making Bucky laugh. 

“Alright let’s finish this before the pigeon arrives and see us sad. He can stand people being sad, he always has to be so happy and sunshine-y.” Bucky says as he stands up and hold his hand out for yours. 

You smile up at him as he hold you up he envelops his arms around you hugging you desperately. 

“Thank you, for being here, I am really going to miss you,” he says softly. 

“I am always here, never forget that,” you whisper. 

As you continue to hug the front door announce loudly the third person of the party arrived. 

“So I go out for pizza in the cold streets of New Yorker and this is how I find you red eyes and hugging like we are never gonna see each other again?” Sam asks leaving the two large pizzas on the table. 

“As if you could get rid so easily of me,” you say as you open you arms, Sam jumping in. 

“Never petal, we are family here.” Sam says as Bucky hums in agreement. 

“Okay that’s enough of the mushy stuff we gotta get this lady to Gotham city!” Sam yells as you all laugh. 

In that moment Bucky felt like everything would be alight and true to your word, even if you had to fly to New York or Louisiana, you where there even of it was for something as simple as birthdays, holidays, or just because Bucky was missing you. 

Bucky tells the story more of a reminder of who you where, than to tell Steve about you. 

From the past years Bucky visited Steve he never brought you up. He felt like his loyalty was to you. 

“So she left everything behind huh?” Steve wonder heaviness in his heart, but a small light shining knowing Bucky was never really alone. 

“I think thats what she needed to heal.” Bucky says standing up. 

“She was always there, at the end of the line.” Bucky says harshly and with protection written all over the place. 

“Bucky,” Steve stands up to reach him. 

“I need to go weddings gonna be next week and I can’t wait. I’m giving her away,” Bucky says as a smile makes a way to his eyes. 

“You know I always thought I’d be you at the end of the altar.” Bucky says as he starts leaving. 

“Also if you really need to know you should look at social media, everything you want to know about him is there.” Bucky says walking out suddenly he stops. 

“Tell the misses I said goodnight.” Bucky says looking up at the house one last time as he gets on his bike driving away leaving a trail on dirt behind him. 

Steve sits there for a while emotions swirling in his being. 

As he pulls his cellphone out he hears soft steps and he looks up to look at his wife. 

“Steve you’ve been here for an hour what happened?” Peggy says taking the chair next to him concern on his face. 

“I just- Bucky came over, he just needed someone to talk to.” Steve says as he tries to smile hiding yet more emotions form his wife. 

He was good at that, he guessed. 

“Oh strange he didn’t stay,” she shrugs standing up. 

“Yeah guys stuff you know,” Steve tries to laugh as Peggy smiles at him. 

“Oh this also arrived on the mail today,” Peggy hands him a white luxurious envelope. 

“Alright I’m going to bed,” She says as she kisses his cheek. 

“Okay I’ll be there in a minute.” He says as she heads back inside. 

He looks at the envelope and think nothing of it thinking its an invitation from Pepper. As he opens it and reads it he stays silent his eyes roaming all over the written words.

Steve can’t even finish reading as he drops the paper. 

Anger and sadness fill him as he stares at the mocking piece of paper on the floor. 

He takes out his phone opening google and typing Bruce Wayne and thousands of result pop up. He opens the wikipedia article and starts reading. After reading some information he looks at the some pictures and he sees it. You and him on a red carpet for one of his galas or something smiles all over as he click the article states very clear that since you went public with him he was seen visibly happier. He can’t help but mad at him, you, and specially himself. 

He sits again in the rocking chair, the one you where meant to grow old together on, and stare at the horizon thinking of you and what to do with the wedding invitation at his feet. 

How could he get back to you?

This posts brings up a good point, but even though I had some joke thoughts in the notes already, I think I got a brainblast big enough to try to be a contrarian again.

I wont go into the manga here so no worries for anybody who thinks Im just gonna use this as an opportunity to spoil and shit on it lol

Also I may look like I'm white knighting the anime too much even for my standards, so lets start with saying that it is a mostly solid and good criticism of it, because it brings up a problem with a pivotal part of it all, and not just whines about stupid lore inconsitencies or powerups like the crictisms I actually dismiss.

So anyways, I first remembered how ironically peeps that like Maka and Soul as a couple used the fact Soul was so unbothered by getting sliced as a trait that made him both appealing and a good match for Maka - somebody who even outwardly is crass and abrasive but in things that matter to her supports her unconditionally - even if it would totally be expected for him to be bothered by it.

But this lead me to rethink the situation - in a way Soul is supposed to be determined to place his live on the line, he escapes from his old identity by being totally into the role of the "cool" weapon that does the job of the DWMA and more importantly of his Meister without question. And this is shown many times, even with the conflict evolving into Soul feeling useless when alone.

Anyways, maybe my thoughts are to scattered to make clear what I mean - but lets look at it this way - Soul and Maka both are like soldiers putting their lives on the line (yeah yeah, its a whole other topic with the child soldier angel), its a kill or be killed world literally, and they commence the execution of Crona - a weirdo kid that even then clearly is fucked in some way - this leads to the famous near fatal wound - which also Soul choce to get, twisting the dynamic into a self sacrifice thing and even kind of removing Crona from the strong negative emotions they both feel about it - well later because at first Makas whole Modus Oporandi is to kill Crona, even if that already gets twisted from revenge to an inner battle of insecurities.

Anyways, the point Im getting to, that by the time the whole sappy Crona beach scene happens, it already gets implied that nobody is really blaming Crona as some malicious actor (even if one could arguee that its clunky, especially with the death of those thugs at the church and other things, but I guess even the fact that at the boat all the souls were allready killed was a way for the story to try to soften the evil of the actions, even if kinda dishonest to do it that way but idk)

So this is the situation - Maka and Soul and the whole DWMA forgives Crona for being part of a plot to resurect the devil, for all other killings and evil shit, so then maybe the whole "well shit you got nearly killed by being cut up man" thing in a twisted way doesnt really matter to Soul - like holding over some scissor incident over the weird kid who turns out had some unexpected muscle spasm attack and you getting injured while trying to get the scissors from hurting somebody (lol ok maybe one of my worst analogies, but still get what I mean?)

Idk, at the end one can say its unrealistic that Soul even if he has some logical reason to not feel this resentment would still feel unconsious anger and antipathy towards Crona or Maka's increased interest in the psycho kid but eh, dunno in the end its a conceit of the story - even as a kid I thought it was kinda emotioanlly unrealistic that atleast some kids arent scared of Crona or think that the DWMA is crazy for lettting a murderer just walk around, but I think thats įust missing the forrest for the trees of stories - in the end it is a way to show and communicate metaphors, in this case the integration of an outcast by a supportive community - even having therapists would ruin it and turn it into something else and go against the whole point of bonds being what brings us back from the abyss of fear cause nobody aint bonding with some grumpy bored theraphist who is only checking of a list without even understanding how human connections work lol (think this anonymous ask I used to request an image that actually kinda blew up illustrates it best, damn should have been public with it, so much clouth lost...:

So yeah, in the end I think it still is a good question, and I think I'll need to rewatch the anime to figure out if Soul really was as sidelined as he really was - or if it was the point - that Soul is a great partner because in the end he trusts his Meister, even if they both may not allways show it.

(Also maybe this is part of Souls real struggle of fearing abandoment once people see him for who he is and why Maka accepts him and opens the box - the fact he supported her even if it lead to being thirdwheeled is prove enough he is a person worthy of unconditional respect, no matter what ugly or lame side he may hide🤷‍♂️)

And also to get really pretentious - maybe it was a flaw of the whole conceit of including the Emine inspired Crona Maka stuff in a story that has the partner theme so ingrained with the Meister Weapon relationship - it just formally causes many situations where charachters feel neglected or even forgotten about because its hard to write somebody bonding with a new person who used to be an enemy while jugglijg the whole aspect of the Maka and Soul relationship - ofcourse more time or maybe a different story could handle it, like maybe making Crona just a weapon and the conflict resolving with Maka dual weilding while making sure that Maka assures Soul that she isnt abandoning him for a new toy and making Soul appreciate Crona and actually forgive the black dress stick figure after actually being saved by Crona directly or Crona doing something only for Soul and not for Maka by proxy ((also one reason Soul could be cool with Crona in the end is because Crona protected Maka by jumping into the attack so if Soul values that the most it kinda comes full circle, yaknowwhatImean?) So yeah idk maybe writting a situation about a friendship not breaking even after adding another part to it would actually be interesting and an aspect of life that isnt often discussed in media. But who knows.

Anyways I think I missed the point again but still guess I should have just saved it all for the iceberg lol.

Hello! Sorry it took me so long to answer!! Spoilers ahead for anyone who hasn't seen the whole show.

Let me approach this a different way... We know the running joke about Tsubaki, that after the Masamune arc she gets no character development. Her lines are just screaming Black Star's name, and that's about it for her.

That's how it feels for Soul after Crona shows up. Except with him it's just...silent brooding and watching his meister put all her focus onto someone else. The meister/weapon relationship that seems like it's kinda supposed to be the whole point of the show...? We don't get much of that for Soul and Maka anymore until the finale. And then it feels just kinda...forced in at the last moment, since we haven't gotten much of that.

He's not the only one whose arc gets skewed, and a good lot of that is due to the anime ending so abruptly and not getting to tell a fuller story. It needed at least ten more episodes in my opinion, whether it followed the manga or not... It just ended too fast.

But Soul specifically got supplanted by Crona, and it makes no sense to me. To have his relationship with Maka just...set aside entirely. Or rather, the issue is that they tried to pretend it wasn't. They tried to pretend all was well, and then bring it back at the very end as if things have been fine the entire time. But no.....no they haven't been.

For some idk like fifteen episodes or so? The only glimpses of Soul are him brooding, pining, trying to be himself toward Maka, being a good friend and weapon, but Maka only has eyes for Crona. Even at their apartment her only thoughts are for Crona, even telling Soul to leave her alone one time. She puts this wall between them and doesn't even know she's doing it, and Soul... His devotion to her never changes.

And... He never gets resolution with Crona for himself. So Maka just...forgave Crona I guess for almost killing Soul? Remember that huge giant plot point that started back in episode 7? That started the entire black blood thing? We never see or hear them talk about it but I guess Maka just....let it go, after purifying Crona? Which makes NO sense but okay I guess. But what about Soul... So since Maka decided to forget about Crona almost killing him, Soul is supposed to just forget too? Since his meister has decided to obsess over this poor mixed up kid who desperately needs professional help NOT a friendship that's doomed to unhealthiness due to the kid's issues, and Soul's supposed to just...be cool with it?

I was really glad that Kid brought it up that one time at the courts, even if it was just for a moment. At least somebody remembered what Soul went through. But it should have been his meister.

So yeah it's just...messed up. In summary.... Soul gets ignored second half of the show till a last-minute dramatic thing in the finale, but it feels out of place since Maka has ignored him for who knows how many episodes except to tell him to leave her alone. Soul has remained devoted and loyal. Soul's devotion to her has him repeatedly use the black blood for the sake of all of them, risking himself. And Maka just forgot I guess about her "new project" or whatever almost killing her weapon. And Soul just gotta deal with....all of that. Deal with what looks like the slow losing of his meister.

Yeah. That's what I meant by Soul being diminished... Everything about him was just kinda forgotten except what he could do for the rest of them.

Gonna take a left-turn here and compare Maka to her father again... Wonder if this is what Stein felt like watching his weapon go off with someone else, slowly losing him to some new, interesting person for whatever reason...

Yeah Maka, your weapon deserved better from you.

All that said? Oh I still ship it. I can be annoyed as heck with canon and still use it, lol.

Also he doesn’t need to sing, he can still use it while talking; lace his words with power, getting anyone to listen to him, drop their guard, and agree with whatever he’s saying. His voice tends to catch attention

— Percy worried that he isn’t enough of a child of Aphrodite and that people are going to figure him out. His solution: flirt like his life depends on it. Hes very bad at first but that doesn’t stop him and its just becomes his natural instinct. In danger? try flirting!

When he start to really develop his skills rip to everyone

— I hc that Aphrodite is a pretty decent parent, mainly bc she doesn’t give a shit about the ancient laws or whatever and regularly visits her kids and helps them out. Also when she gets angry she tends to shift back to a war goddess. So…

can anybody please explain the appeal of tim drake because ive been into the batfamily for a while now and tbh im really confused on why people like his character so much compared to the other robins. like they all have their own thing going on and he just... doesnt?

Have you read his Robin solo? Because if not and you want to try to like him but just don’t understand why people do, that’s what I’d recommend. That and like, Young Justice 1998. 

Because Tim definitely... does have his own thing going on. Maybe not in the same way as the others, but like, there’s a reason he has a 183 issue long solo comic that ran for like 16 years: he was fun to read about!

But I will give some more specific thoughts on the subject as a Tim Drake Appreciator™ (this got long im sorry)

The appeal of Tim (especially early on Tim) is kinda the fact that he’s this more normal kid. For a while that is his ‘thing’. He was basically designed to be a self-insert (he definitely became more than that along the way, but from the start he was meant to be relatable) in a different way than how Dick and Jason had been before him. 

Like the role of Robin from the start was this way to create a character young readers could identify with more, could see themselves in more. And Dick and Jason did that, but they still had this element to their lives and stories that was more... unattainable for the average reader. Dick was a circus prodigy, Jason was either also a circus prodigy if we remember pre-crisis or if we go with his post-crisis story he’s this street-wise orphaned kid who had a really tough life but still went on to be a hero anyways. Obviously those lives are relatable for some people, but those’re definitely not as broadly recognized as common upbringings especially not by DC trying to market to the ‘average’ kid/young teen.

But the creation of Tim changed the game a bit. Dick and Jason were these aspirations a kid could look to like ‘wow I want to be cool like that!’ but Tim was a Robin designed for kids to look at and go ‘wow, his problems and civilian life are just like mine AND he’s a hero, I want to be cool like that!’, ya know? Tim was... just a clever kid with an average life who managed to connect some dots and had enough drive to want to fix things he saw were a problem, he didn’t have the same kind of heightened drama backstory the others did. The Robins that came after Tim definitely didn’t have this idea of relatability in mind the same way either. Unfortunately Steph’s time as Robin was much more of a marketing ploy than an actual like... decision to make her Robin, so it’s hard to really fit her into this conversation. But Damian from the start was first of all initially created not to be Robin but just as the son of Talia and Bruce back in the 80’s, but when he was later reimagined into the character that would become Robin he had the whole ‘raised by and is the heir to the league of assassins and is the son of batman’ thing going on still. He just was not supposed to be relatable that same way, he was a character designed with different things in mind.

I really think it was more just DC’s 90′s era younger-audience comics in general that tried to push that relatability thing (like in YJ how Cissie even after quitting the team stays a major character as a civilian throughout, and the civilian aspect that’s super present in Bart’s 90s solo too, etc), but later in the 2000’s that idea was definitely pushed to the side in favor of... putting in even more dramatic superhero-y stuff.

And the other thing that’s... such a more normal thing but it actually made him unique here, was that Tim’s dad was still alive until like 2004 (so 15 years into Tim being around as a character). This gave Tim a lot more typical ‘family school girlfriends normal life etc’ problems on top of/in contrast with his superhero problems. These just manifested in very different ways than they could with the other Robins because of that unique situation with a living civilian parent who doesn’t know about hero stuff (until he did find out which lead to that whole Unmasked thing, but there was only the brief time around War Games & Identity Crisis where Jack knew Tim was actively Robin and he was... still alive) Tim also had his life at school expanded way more than most other Robins, like, he had such an extended supporting cast of civilian friends which is a really interesting thing to read about (and the fact that he hasn’t had that stuff since the New 52 I think really hurts his character)

And then related to that loss of his dad... Personally another thing about Tim that really interests me is how a lot of things were more... his choice. if that makes sense. A lot of characters in the Batfamily were struck with tragedy/extreme trauma before they became heroes and that’s what spurred them into this life of becoming heroes. Tim’s situation wasn’t like that at all! When he first got involved in everything during Lonely Place of Dying, the only tragedy he’d experienced was watching Dick’s tragedy happen. Which sure yes traumatic obviously, but that’s not the same as how pretty much all the other Bats had gone through these very personal losses or other sorts of very first-hand personal traumas that served as motivators. Tim didn’t start to experience those things until after he got involved in the hero life, and aside from his Mom’s death which was more of just an unrelated incident (that technically happened before he was officially Robin but it was during his time training to become Robin), pretty much all these other tragedies and things... would not have happened or been experienced by him had he not become Robin. 

That’s not me placing blame on him or anything like that, because god no that’s not how that works, but it’s very interesting because from his point of view he definitely feels that guilt because he knows him being Robin played a role in a lot of it (Thinking specifically about in Adventure Comics #3 when Kon even says “I know what guilt does to you” to him like it’s... it’s a thing with him!). His dad was murdered because he was Robin. He only met Steph and started dating her through being Robin, and thus he would not have experienced the loss of his girlfriend dying like that had he not been Robin. Tim met both Conner and Bart through being Robin, and would not have had a personal connection to them when they died otherwise. The whole Bruce’s death thing after Final Crisis, like. I could go on honestly, that was only talking about losses not even his own experiences nearly getting killed, but yeah, all these personal tragedies were experienced by him specifically because he chose to bring himself into this life, which I think in turn plays into how throughout his comics you see him go from having this really optimistic view on things and being really hopeful to seeing him at that low point he reaches by the time of Red Robin. (thinking about that one post that points out how Tim started out in the 90′s as an optimist and Steph a cynic and by the time they were Red Robin and Batgirl in 2009 they had switched outlooks...) 

I also think that him having had such a great team book with the original Young Justice can help contribute to people liking him. His friendships with the rest of the core four and that team in general are really compelling. (and that’s something like again when looking at the other Robins, while Dick had the Titans ofc, Jason never really found footing with a team outside of like one mission with the Titans and then We All Know How Damian’s Teen Titans Stuff Went. Steph also only ever really worked with a team outside the batfam on very brief occasions) and even though I’m not as big of a fan of the 2003 Teen Titans run that came after YJ, people who read Young Justice and also that could follow and be attached to those same characters over a pretty decently long period of time. 

Idk man, I don’t really have an ultimate point here i’m just rambling. I can definitely understand not seeing the appeal to him right away (honestly i’ve been into Batfam since like 2013/2014 and Tim did not become one of my faves until 2020) especially if like... idk when you say ‘into the batfamily’ that can mean a lot of different things. If you’re reading more like the bigger events with the batfam sure Tim can kinda fade into the bg a bit, if you’re more talking about fanon the fanon version of him is prettyyyyy uhhhhh not really the same as how he was in pre New 52 canon, if you’re mainly reading New 52 era Batfam stuff then that Tim I also don’t understand the appeal of bc thats Not My Boy, if you’re interested in a different member primarily and only familiar with Tim when he shows up in things focused on that other character then it’s easy to not really understand the appeal right away bc he’s more there to support that character rather than shine in his own right. 

I think it’s also worth mentioning he’s just not everybody’s cup of tea, and that’s totally fine. Like, these are fictional characters and sometimes you just will vibe with a character and sometimes you won’t! idk if this helped at all or even made sense. but yeah. I just think he’s neat 😌
