summary: a summer break at college fred and y/n fall for each other, much to ron's disappointment. 8 long weeks, and finally they did something about their feelings

"fred it's just- she's my best friend. she's your age. and she's pretty. you. cant. date. her." fred just looked at him in disbelief "ronald, i don't know what you're talking about. i won't fall in love with your friend ok. she's just staying for the summer- i'll probably barely see her" ron didn't seem to convinced by this " im ashamed that you think so little of me, plus i'm pretty sure i've seen her around. we do share a lecture" he knew for a fact. he knew because sometimes he found himself absentmindedly staring at her in admiration. there was no escaping it though, ron- and everyone else- knew the inevitable, fred was gonna fall for his best friend.

the day she came to the burrow made that extremely clear. "freddie, you are so stupid" george couldn't stop laughing at his twin "ron is gonna kill you. what about 'you can't date her' did you not grasp?" fred just playfully glared at him "ok... he said she was pretty- he didn't tell me how pretty!" his brother lightly patted his shoulder whilst sighing softly "you are a hopeless romantic, and besides i thought you already knew her" fred shook his head subtly "no. she sits at the front of the hall and i sit at the back. i've seen her from afar, there is a clear distinction."

but in fred's defence- y/n wasn't doing much better. although, luckily she didn't have the 'you can't date him' talk, she just knew she shouldn't. would it affect her and ron's friendship? probably not. but he had a weird thing about his friends dating his siblings- when harry started dating ginny, she found it hilarious. obviously he's over it now, but it did take a miniature toll. harry hung out with them less and less, between classes for uni and going through the 'honeymoon phase' of his and ginny's relationship, he barely spent time with them. of course, he does now. but y/n couldn't get her head around it, everyone was like that- no matter who they where in a relationship.

but she didn't ever plan on risking their freindship, but then she met fred.

"we're here!" ron yelled from the front door, to notify his siblings that they were about to meet his friend he talks so fondly of. "oh move out of the way ron, let me meet her!" his mother was so lovely. "ah you're gorgeous! come here, come here" and mrs weasley embraced her in a hug, some would consider her a little 'overly friendly' but y/n didn't mind. it was nice to be considered a part of the family even if you only know one or two of her children. "and hermione! lovely of you to come again, i can't believe you're still putting up with my ron. he's a piece of work" that made everyone chuckle, this women didn't have much of a filter, and it was great. "well, y/n, you already know ginny, you might have met fred once or twice, thats george, thats bill and his wife fleur. charlie's still away on military duty, and percey's still in london working for the law firm." she said her hello's to everyone, they were all very nice. and as much as she loved everyone, she was happy to finally get a bit of peace outside whilst reading with hermione and fleur whilst everyone was helping with dinner "i honestly don't mind helping if you need it, there are a lot of us to cook for-" "dont be silly y/n i'm not letting one of our guests cook. i see you have a couple of books, go read and relax, you had a long journey. my little delinquents will help me" so she gave up trying to help, it was no use.

"so y/n" fleur started, but she didn't mind, the two got on pretty well, and had actually met a couple of times already, they went to the same high school periodically, fleur was an exchange student and the two shared a few classes. "any boyfriends? girlfriends? any romance at all" this caused the girl to chuckle. "no. not for me. on top of school, and having a clingy friendship group, i don't have much time to meet anyone and date" fleur looked both sad and excited "well maybe you could date fred? i hear he i hopelessly single... and you're staying hear all summer. plenty of time to get to know him" yep. she was excited. "i think ron would have a heart attack" y/n didn't hate the idea, but she was very much the type of person to not force things. it wouldn't feel right to get close to him with the only intention to be to fill the void that wasn't actually all that eager to be filled.

but after a few weeks her and fred began to really get along. "dude things are going terribly with the whole 'don't fall for y/n'! i just can't stop thinking about her. and then when i finally do, she's right there!" george huffed a laugh "really freddie? i thought things were going great" "you know, sarcasm is the lowest form of wit" the two joked with eachother a little more "she's just one girl. i'm sure there'll be more that you like just as much as her" fred shook his head "i'm not really one for change. i like her, and the only thing holding me back is a little dick who is way too protective and possessive of his beautiful friends." his brother rolled his eyes "just talk to him! everyone can see how you look at her and it's painful! just. talk. to. him."

this wasn't going to work. he knew it was a long shot, but anything is worth a try. "ron, i get your whole 'i don't want my friends hurt' thing, but i don't wanna hurt her ok. she's just- i've gotten to know her, and i do really like her-" "stop. just stop. i can't tell either of you who you can and can't date. but if you really like her, i guess you're not the worst person to ever like her"

7 weeks into her stay, she knew she liked him. there was no denying they grew close, nearly always being in a room with each other, nearly always touching each other in some way: holding hands without even realising, leaning on the other when they're standing together, subtle yet obvious things like that. subtle to them. obvious to everyone else around. "just talk to her!! god this is painful, and it's about time you start telling her the many, i repeat many compliments and all romantic shit you spew to me, because you are insufferable right now" fred rolled his eyes playfully "i honestly can't georgie. why would i risk it. she's too perfect to let slip" "just tell her! it cant be that hard. do you really wanna go back to how things were before you too properly got to talking? because if you don't tell her it increases that possibility." this got the other boy's attention "you really think things could go back? becasue i don't think i could handle a silent nod whilst passing her to get to my seat at the beginning of a lecture. or a little small cute giggle when i come over to irritate ronald. i've gotten to know her, and i know that i like her. i don't want to jeopardise that. i can't. i just can't." george chuckled at his helpless brother "sounds like you can't do a lot of things freddie. you know what i say? go for it! what do you have to lose?" "an incredibly awesome friendship with a very attractive girl" and then their conversation got cut off when a certain someone walked into the room "hey" and the two fell practically silent "yo y/n" george was the first to break the somewhat silence that awkwardly enveloped the room "what you up to?" he got up "leaving" she chuckled at the younger twin "smooth." as she took her place next to the remaining brother, the awkwardly laced tension instantly washed out of the room as she sat next to him. it was like, the affect she had on him- any anxiety he had left, she was like a beacon of peace, of a calming sound to capsize the worry that flooded his mind.

a week after his conversation with george, he decided enough was enough. "ok im going to do it" and honestly, y/n was thinking the exact same "ginny, i will do it. im gonna tell him" but were they?

the two we alone, the rest of the household were out at the shops. "what do you wanna do?" she could think of one thing "are you gonna hate me forever if i do this?" he was a little confused "do what?"

she kissed him. yet another way for them to always be touching. yet another moment of true bliss- when everything around them falls silent, the world pauses from spinning, and they finally feel as though they can breath, the spark took the opportunity to turn into a flame. "well if that's what you wanna do... i can work with it" they both chuckled "i can to- and if i'm being completely honest, i'd like to do it a lot more" "at least we're in the same boat"

and finally after 8 long weeks they started dating. they never told anyone, and they didn't have to. stolen kisses - stolen whispers - stolen glances. any chance they could get, they'd take it.

when they went back to college, not much changed. they took any chance they could get to see each other, whilst y/n did all she could to maintain her normal friendship with ron "y/n you've seen him oce already this week! come one, we need to have a movie marathon. it's super important" she rolled her eyes "ron it's saturday. and i've only seen my boyfriend once this week. be a normal 18 year old would you? be horny- fuck your girlfriend! love you bye"

let's just say her methods were odd- but affective. things were going well, she was happy. turns out she didn't regret that summer at the burrow. none of them did. she was the newest addition to their family, and they all loved her, none quite as much as a certain fred weasley.

here is my contribution for ace week! im literally squeezing this in at the last possible second (as its 11:32pm on 10/31 as i start this) but better late than never i suppose!!

i dont often talk about my sexuality on this blog, but i do identify as ace and its not something ive ever been overly comfortable with. but seeing the plethora of ace week fics on my dash this past week (mostly by @jaskierswolf, hi, hope you dont mind being tagged) has been so awesome and has made me feel so much more comfortable in myself that i had to write something for this :)

this is some gray romantic/ace geralt with some ace jaskier. warnings for mentions of dubious consent/ not wanting to have sex but doing it anyway. there is no explicit sexual content but it is referenced.

Geralt was a Witcher. His entire livelihood consisted of him doing things for humans: killing monsters, bargaining with sorceresses, fighting wars, protecting them from pretty much anything that could hurt their fragile mortal selves. It had been trained into him ever since he was a child. Do what the humans ask of you. It is your job. 

So why would sex be any different?

Humans enjoyed sex. This was something Geralt had come to learn during his time on the path. What was even worse was that some of them especially enjoyed having sex with Witchers. 

Geralt did not enjoy sex. He was not a human, and it was decidedly a human activity. But that did not stop humans from wanting to have sex with him. Some sought him out specifically, wanting to know what it was like to lie with a Witcher for a night. Others insisted on paying him for his monster hunting duties with a round. He never took pleasure in it. Sometimes he would pretend he did. He had gotten quite good at pretending over the years, learning little tricks that humans seemed to like. But the act of it itself made his skin crawl for days on end and he could feel their fingers and lips long after the marks on his skin had faded.

But he worked for humans. He couldn't deny them what they asked of him. 

He assumed Jaskier would be the same. The man was certainly human, so much so that he would flirt with grass if it came down to it (which, admittedly, Geralt had only witnessed once, and Jaskier had been very drunk at the time, but still). But he never tried to bed him, which surprised Geralt. He knew he was good, if the praises of the the people he'd laid with before were any indication Humans generally needed him for a favor and then left him to the wind. Jaskier hadn’t asked him to kill a monster or help him track down an unruly mage, and it had been years at least since they had first crossed paths. The only logical conclusion that Geralt could come to was that Jaskier was waiting for him to bed him and then he would leave, just like everyone else.

The problem was that Geralt had grown quite fond of Jaskier over the years (and his incessant flirting) and while he didn’t want the bard to leave, he also didnt want Jaskier to be miserable following him around anymore. Five years was quite a long time to wait for a round, especially in human years. Resignedly, Geralt told himself that in the next town he would lay with Jaskier and then the whole thing could be over, and they could both move on with their lives. 

He rented a room with one bed, as they often did, despite there being enough coin for one with two. Jaksier hardly noticed, flouncing off to play a few sets for the locals while Geralt went upstairs to prepare. 

He felt the characteristic tightening of his stomach and the shakiness that always came with this particular activity, but he stripped down obediently, even talking the time to rub some of the oils Jaskier liked to much into his hair before laying down on the bed to wait. 

He didn’t have to wait long. “Geralt! You’ll never believe th- whoa, were you expecting someone?” He stood in the doorway awkwardly.

“Just you,” Geralt grunted. They should get this over with. 

“Me? Geralt...did you think I wanted to have sex with you?”

“Well...” Geralt picked at the blanket, feeling foolish for having to explain himself, he thought that humans should understand these things. “Humans always need me for something. And you dont need a monster killed, so I figured....” “Oh dear heart,” Jaskier walked over and sat down on the bed next to him, running his fingers though his hair. “Please do not take this the wrong way, but I do not want to have sex with you.”

“You don’t?” Geralt was shocked. “But...humans....”

“Not all humans like sex Geralt. I certainly don’t. It makes me skin crawl and I feel all weird after. So I don’t do it. I’m still plenty romantic with people, but I dont get into bed with them.” “Hmm.” Jaskier didn’t like sex either? Maybe it wasn't a human thing after all.

“What it Geralt? That was your I’m-Contemplating-Something hum.”

“It...makes my skin crawl too.” He said carefully after a few moments. 

Jaskier’s hand slowed in his hair. “Dear heart,” he began carefully. “Do you like sex?”

Did he? No one had ever asked him what he wanted before. He didnt think he did. It didnt feel pleasant and he usually had to jump in a cold stream after. “No.”

“Then why did you want to do it with me?” “You’re human,” Geralt shrugged. “Humans either want me to kill monsters or want me in their bed. I serve humans, I can’t turn them down. You are a human.” 

"But you dont like sex?”

“No. I’m a Witcher. It’s probably the mutations. But can still get by.” Actually, now that he thought about it, from what he remembered, he’d never been much interested in it before the trials either.

“Geralt,” Jaskier tilted his chin up to look at him and he saw sadness swirling in his eyes. “Not wanting to have sex is not a Witcher thing. Plenty of humans feel the same way too. Admittedly there aren't many of us, I’ve only come across a few in my lifetime, and I think there's a word for it but I can’t remember it right now. Sex does not interest me either, but there are far more other important things in a relationship than just sex.”

Geralt was confused. “But sex is the only thing people ever wanted me for.” 

“And I’m terribly sorry about that, dear heart, but you’re with me now and I will never make you have sex with me. Have you ever- or wait, is there anything else that you dont like?”

Geralt’s head was spinning, and he was still stuck on the part where Jaskier had said that he would never make Geralt have sex with him. For the first time that evening, he felt his hands stop their shaking and something like warmth bloom inside him. “Hmm?”

“Is there anything else you dont like doing? Besides the sex bit I mean.”

Besides sex....Geralt tried to remember what came along with laying with someone. He usually blocked it all out after. “Kissing,” he finally said. “Burns my skin.”

“Alright, we’ll do none of that then.” Jaskier moved from the bed, beginning to take off his doublet and Geralt seized up for a second, afraid that Jaskier was going go back on his word, but then he reached for his nightclothes. “Are you familiar with cuddling?”

“Cuddling?” The word felt unfamiliar in his mouth.

“I’ll take that as a no.” Jaskier smiled. “Go put your nightclothes on. I think I have something that you will enjoy far better than that nasty sex business.”

So here it was then, Jasper did need him for a service after all. Geralt got out of bed and slowly pulled on his night clothes, painfully aware this would be their last night together before they parted ways for good, before returning to the bed. 

“Right, so youre just going to lay on your side, yes right like that, and then I lay behind you, see? And I put my arm around you like this, and we snuggle.” Jaskier’s breath tickled his hair.

“What do we do though?” “What do you mean, what do we do?” Despite Jaskier’s words though, he didnt seem angry. “This is it. We hold each other and enjoy each others presence. We can change positions, if you want, like you can take a turn holding me for example or I could lay on your chest, but we just hold each other close. Show each other we care. This is called cuddling.”

“Hmm.” As far as Geralt was concerned, it was far better than sex. But he knew it wouldn't last. This was all Jaskier wanted from him, clearly, which prevented Geralt from thoroughly enjoying it. 

“Where will you go?” he spoke into the silence a few long moments later. 

Jaskier paused drawing light patterns on Geralts forearm. “What do you mean?”

“Tomorrow.” Wasn't it obvious?

“Well I’ll go wherever you’re going. Just like we always have?"

“You...you’re not,” Geralt swallowed thickly. “You’re not leaving?” 

“Leaving?” Jaskier’s voice rose an octave. “Why on the continent would I be leaving?”

“You’ve got what you wanted from me, with this....cuddling business. You have no reason to stay.”

“Oh dear heart.” The next thing he knew he was being flipped around to face Jaskier. Jaskier, who had tears in his eyes that were just barely visible in the low light. Instinctively, he reached up to brush them away. “I’m cuddling with you because I care about you, because I love you. Not because I want something from you.”

“Oh.” Geralt didn’t know what to say. Jaskier loved him? No one had ever loved him before, much less cared about him or wanted him to be comfortable. 

Jaskier placed his hand on Geralt’s chest. “You never have to do anything you dont want to do with me. And if you don’t want to travel with me anymore, I’ll leave. You are your own person, Geralt, even if you are a Witcher. And you make your own decisions. You wouldn't take a contract that you felt unsafe doing, so in the same vein, you dont have to have sex with anyone if you dont want to. You make your own decisions. You dont even have to cuddle with me right now if you want to. You choose what you want to do based on what you’re comfortable doing, do you understand?”

Geralt nodded into the darkness. This was all so much. He hadn't been able to make his decisions in...well ever. And now Jaskier was giving him permission to. “I want you to stay,” he whispered. “I....care about you too.” He didnt say that he thought he could love him, he wasn't ready to say that yet. And according to Jaskier he didnt have to say it if he didnt want to. 

“Good. Now that we've got that sorted, come here,” Jaskier pulled Geralt into his chest, running his fingers through his hair delicately. Geralt closed his eyes, never had he felt more safe in his entire life. Who knew humans could be so gentle?

Just as he was teetering on the edge of unconsciousness he whispered, “Jaskier?”

“Hmm?”

Geralt felt a small smile tug at his lips at hearing how own language on Jaskier’s lips. “Can we do more of this...cuddling?”

Jaskier’s laugh sounded through his chest, vibrating pleasantly against Geralt’s ear. “Of course we can, dear heart. Of course.”

Miss Jacki’s Wincest World

Tonight I have Wincest on my mind... I usually do, but more tonight than normal so Id like to share with anyone interested, my thoughts and headcanons about it, and maybe those of you who read this, may view Sam and Dean’s relationship a little differently, or, at the very least, see there are many ways to enjoy Wincest, and maybe even inspire you, writers and artists, to create around this view. I know not all my followers dig Wincest, so I’ll put in a cut so as not to spam your feed with something that may squick you. I want to start off by stating that Im not into m/m sex, and I definitely don’t have an incest kink, however, Sam and Dean have something very special that I noticed and loved immediately when I first started watching. The first time we see the brothers together, I was hit with “WOAAH easy tiger” Dean’s smile. a breathless Sam “Dean?!” and I knew, this was gonna be interesting! At first I was intrigued, but still a little put off with how thick the subtext was, with all the sexually charged pushing each other into walls, unnecessary touching and grabbing, and heart eyes they would look at each other with, I remember thinking “the writers know they're brothers.... right?”But it wasn't long before I found all this downright adorable. and though I didn’t think the brothers have sex, when Dean sold his soul for Sam, I knew they had an unmatchable love. Something that goes far beyond familial love to something none of us will ever experience. 

I don’t know when it happened exactly, but by the end of season 4 I was thinking “If they had sex, would it even be the worst thing they’ve ever done?” Sam and Dean do immoral, unethical and illegal things all the time, but for good reasons, so, if they crossed that line into banging each other, it would be for a good reason. Like, they love each other more than words can express and need each other more than oxygen. So really, is it a reach to think it would become sexual at some point?

I know it won't ever be canon, and honestly, I don't want it to be, but it’s obviously something the writers have always wanted us to consider, a risque thought to entertain, and maybe even accept between the 2 of them. Jared and Jensen aren’t offended by the thought, they play into it at con panels and on gag reels. Sometimes the show jokes about it, and the cast and crew even play into it. It was great to learn I wasn’t alone in thinking Wincest is the best ship ever!

Now, my headcanons and preferences are different than many other Wincest shippers, and that’s fine, there's more than one way to love this pair. but I must say that it makes it difficult for me to find a fic that matches my opinion. It’s not your fault, it’s that I am a picky little shit, and though I accept and respect the views of others, for my own personal satisfaction, sex between the boys has to be a certain way, or it doesn't do much for me. 

I know for many, if not most of you, like the idea of the boys being sexual since they were young. I am absolutely turned off by any underage sex... Sam and Dean or anyone else... and I am also turned off by them being an age that wasn't played by Jared and Jensen. All that aside, I do understand the romance of the thought of the boys, lusty and passionate for each other and tearing at each other in the Impala after a hunt, that's all good, but for me I like all that tension to build up all these years, through everything they've been through together, and how they've felt when they were apart. 

I've never felt that the boys lust after each other. It's pure honest love. They see each other as beautiful and the center of their universe.  The sun rises and sets just for each other. It’s not “Damn he has a hot ass” (for me anyway) I don't think either brother is bisexual. This would mean they have an interest in men as well as women, and neither has shown they have any interest in men at all, but they have a bond with each other, that even they don't fully understand. They just know they belong to, and with their brother, in every sense of the word. Even death doesn’t part them. In fact, Death tried to, and Dean killed him 😉

I see them as not being together romantically until recent years. In fact, the later their “first time” is in a fan fic, the better. The longer that tension builds over surviving Hell, dying over and over, fighting, reuniting, watching people they care about die, and a world they've saved half a dozen times, still crumbling before them, Finally, the boys have nothing left to fear and give themselves over to each other. 

To get more personal, and maybe even a little smuttier. I dont see either as specifically a top or bottom ( hehe) I think they switch depending on the mood. I think Sam loves his role in Dean’s world. The little brother that Dean would sell his soul to protect. Dean wants to be sweet and gentle with Sam. Worship him inside and out. This works for me because if you have noticed, when Dean barks and bristles up to Sam, Sam rolls his eyes and pushes through it, but when Dean talks softly or expresses how important Sam is to him., Sam melts like cheese on a hot plate. Dean enjoys melting Sam 😊

Dean, however, loves that his little brother is big and strong and nerdy as he may be, is a lethal mofo if someone hurts or threatens Dean. When Sam makes love to Dean, he likes to be a little rough, playful,. not overly aggressive. He likes to take control and Dean gets all tingly when he does (that's literally canon folks hehe) If you've noticed, when Sam argues with Dean but is being the nerdy, logical peace-maker, Dean rolls his eyes and blows him off. However, when Sam expresses emotions, whether he’s angry or sad, Dean listens and softens up to him. Dean responds best when Sam is passionate and emotional. 

Dean also likes to feel Sam’s size and strength. As protective as Dean is, sometimes he needs protection himself and loves that his nerdy little brother is a freakin tank who would let the world burn to protect him. 

Sometimes, sex is just fun. Awkward and sloppy. Laughing because they're too big to do it comfortably in the car, or maybe they played a stupid drinking game or lost a sexy bet on a football game. They trust each other implicitly and experiment sometimes, and both are comfortable enough to say if they like it or not. 

Wincest is just the best, isn't it? The show has done well at painting them as a married couple. Nowadays, Dean hasnt even shown much interest in finding a chick and getting laid, and Sam has had sex once in 6 years! They may never admit on screen that the boys have sex, but they’ve made it obvious that they dont need or want other people for anything anymore. 💕😍

As of 8/14/20 Charlie is no longer open to romantic ships with female muses specifically, and will ship only with Bunny’s female muses: Irene @gcrefxed and Sarah @killerxquccn  , with her characters being detrimental in Charlie's story and to his character. Sarah specifically has always been the love of Charlie's life with the likelihood of anyone (beyond Irene) able to come close slim to none. This in no way means I will not interact with female muses or am being exclusionary  from this point; I always want to explore the multitude of subtleties in dynamics between Charlie and muses of every gender - even female muses having feelings for charlie, flirting with him etc - but dynamics with those female leaning will not result in anything romantic. Male muses, however,  are still open to the possibility of such a dynamic as that aspect to Charlies sexuality and character hasnt been delved into and I would find really interesting to explore. Black Romance

The Black Quadrant of Troll Romance intrigues me to no end, and makes my thoughts churn like a creative slurry in a bucket, wandering what exactly its like under long term circumstances, the little intricacies of unwritten rules and expectations to be found within this sort of relationship.

How did it even first occur? What in Troll biology cause it to be a such a strong fixture in their social culture?

Perhaps these questions will be answered one day... probably in a way that makes me wish they hadn't and force me to moan like a lil bitch in disappointment.

We can only speculate for now however... which is what im going to do.

In its history, Black Romance likely started as a genuine desire to kill a rival, likely over the feelings of the same Matesprite, but unable to do so, in spite of the genuinely serious trying at mutual murder, only to find they dont mind each other so much, even if they dont like many other aspects about them~

 Even though they try to kill their rival they actually begin to make one another as strong as possible through constant conflict. Like two Knights sharpening their skills in a friendly sparing match. After all, what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. Given Troll society, they likely take this notion to heart.

Through this rivalry, their partner is made as strong as possible, so they may live to see each other again another day.

I think, in my opinion, a Black Romance is a relationship born of Hate and Irritation, but evolves into a genuine mutual love and respect.

It starts as Hate, but becomes Love over time.

They may start in opposite directions, but they ultimately end up in the same place.

Any actual pain inflicted upon your rival is to make them dulled and numb to that pain. Makes them ready to deal with it mentally. Their weak traits being absolved or mitigated to some extent, and their strengths expanded and reinforced.

The individuals, sharpen each others knives for their partners to use one another, so that they may also sharpen their skills, ensuring that they are both full prepared for the trials ahead.

A Black Romance usually revolves around the two partners actually trying to hurt and injure one another, both verbally and physically, but not cripple, maim or kill their opponent. Its the two trying to Dominate, but not so thoroughly as they cannot grow as individuals. To remove the blemishes in their techniques, working out the kinks in execution.

Blackroms must have times of bonding and enjoyment, a break from the conflict, to relieve stress... by ♠any♠means♠necessary♠~

This often revolves around the two Haters tending to eachothers wounds, and enjoying the typical Red Romance activities, like dinner and a movie, albeit with a side of snark, super sized. Probably poisoning their partners meal, just enough for them to get an upset stomach and vomit over it all.

Signs of affection take the forms of hand holding, kissing, and small levels of antagonisms such as harmless insults or mild scuffles. One method is manipulation to encourage romantic retaliations, such as stealing clothes, pranking their rival, or even publicly humiliating them in way that will embarrass them but wont destroy their standing or self-esteem.

Anything that gets under their skin without causing permanent harm goes and one must always be on guard and never show signs of weakness or reveal any information to their kismesis, lest they use this against their partner.

One sign of devotion in a relationship is wearing the colors of your partner. In the case of a Matesprit, its their favorite color.

In the case of a Kismesis, its their blood color, or at least a color they may hate.

All relationships are born of trust, but for a Kismesissitude, it is far more important, for they must both understand they are not trying to kill eachother while trying to wound one another. 

A good sign of trust is allowing your Kismesis to wear your clothes with minimal reservation, as they probably wont destroy it outright, but probably will at least modify it, such as dying it another color.

This trust is what is crucial for it to succeed, they have to try and hurt without killing. And due to nature of the relationship, they try to one up each other constantly.

Stabbing someone in the arm may result in them cutting off your hand in response.

This often results in the one of them killing their partner kind of unintentionally while being caught up in a whirlwind of passionate hatred~

Sometimes in bed even.

These bouts of hate filled fighting can spill over into society at large, causing damage and injury to others and their property.

This is why the Auspices were founded~

The importance of the Auspice in a Black Romance is critical, for they serve as the referees, and prevent the relationship from getting out of hand. The loss of one or both individuals can be devastating to the group, especially if they’re of great standing and use to said group. Losing your own members to themselves is embarrassing to say the least.

They at minimum, keep the two individuals focused, preventing them from getting embroiled in their bitter dark chocolate freakishness, and having them stay civil as well as decent in public.

Anyone can be an Auspice, be they a passing stranger, or a concerned friend. But many Auspices are more permanent fixtures, usually one party members current Moirail or Matesprite.

But most often, it is normally a third party that is a mutual friend, that aides in keeping things from getting out of hand. A platonic friend that can help cool the flames and calm the storms, so the ship will not sink.

But Not All Ashenroms Are Platonic~

(This was started in response to your sweet pic of guy and Pickman kissing and not the other thing you drew with the death and the romantic killing. Though if you don’t mind I like using events that you draw as “cannon” to fanfic. I hope you like it, do what you want with it. If you don’t mind I’ll finish the ending and send that to you as well?)

im going to cut this so its not too long but aaaaaaa!! id love to read more, if thats something you want to do, and i dont mind that you base off the story of some of my art (but lmao i hope it wouldnt end in the same way as the death and romantic killing one, i dont think my little gay heart could take it). but i love what youre writing my friend ;w;

Pickman drops off the map. Soul isn’t concerned. More to the point he has too much else to worry about one overly artistic raider killer. He categorizes all the other things he has to worry about as he stares up through the holes in the starlight cinema’s ceiling. Prestion’s itching to retake the castle but Soul is having a hard time giving the order, “pulling the trigger.” This is the big test. He’s been rebuilding Preston’s militia on auto pilot since he put Soul in charge of the damn thing. Flying by the seat of his pants. If he messes this one up the minutemen are done, for good this time. Even if they both survive he doubts Preston will stick around after Soul sends the guys last hope in humanity crashing and burning into the ground.

Soul rolls over. There’s plenty of room. He spreads out like a starfish but that feels too exposed so he curls into a tiny ball on the edge of the mattress. He thinks of his wife and he thinks of his son and he thinks about his dead world. Somewhere in that mess, the thinking becomes dreaming, and he wakes up feeling more scrambled than when he lay down.

  Soul ties back his growing mane into a rat-nest ponytail and packs for a trip. The destination is rattling around in the back of his head but he doesn’t care to look for it.

  Pack over shoulder he decides to check on the new addition. The water filter in the center of the shanty town rumbles healthy under his hand. He pats one of her pipes thankful for small favors, a pack full of clean water. The residents of Starlight holler farewells and he raises a hand as he sets off the road.

  The Commonwealth roads seem subdued. Everything is fuzzy around the edges. He finds himself standing in front of a red door and stares at it for a second, a memory gnawing at the corner of his awareness. He drags it back and examines it. A few hours ago, five ferals on the way, all but the last one killed before they woke up. The last one takes a bullet through the leg as it darts forward.Then another one between the eyes as it lays on the ground. The weather is threatening rain. His head tilts up at the dirty sky.

“Truce for today?”

  The commonwealth doesn’t respond.

  Now he’s here. Soul starts back to himself and wipes away the streams of water running down his face. He pushes open the door and goes inside just to get out of the rain.

  The house is cleaner than his last visit. The gallery itself still sets his gut in knots. Soul walks through it quickly, only glancing at the new additions. There are new additions, surprise and relief catch in his throat and produce something between a grunt and a cough. He assumed- but he was wrong.

  The blood stains still coat the floor but it’s no worse than any raider hideout. Soul sits down in a cleanish chair and props up his aching feet on a table. Resting the pistol on his abdomen as he leans back.

  Introspection was never his strong suit. Asking why he was here would just mix him up more, he was here. Now what.

He pulled a Snack Cake out of his pack and ate one. He was sitting in Pickman’s house with his feet up on the table getting this powdery stuff all over the place. The rapper crinkled as he stuffed it back in the bag.

A note. He could leave a note in the safe. Soul tucked the gun away and left his pack at the table. Pickman had to have paper and pens around here somewhere. He pushed open a closet door to find it empty, then a bedroom door. The press of cold mettle on his throat and the slam of his body against the hallway wall, their faces are very close. Soul notice’s Pickman’s lips are cracked and bleeding. They stand against the wall for a moment before the grin plastered on pickman’s  face falls and he dropped the blade.

“Soul.” He bends to pick up the knife. “You didn’t knock.”

“Hi Pickm- Richard, how- um, how’s it going?”

“I nearly slit your neck. Do you have doors in Sanctuary?”

  Soul considers his old home, blasted open as the pressure wave hit “Not anymore.” He chuckles. “I still should have knocked though, sorry about that. I honestly figured you were dead.” 

That takes Pickman back. Soul gets a chance to look him over as he steps back and turns 180 to stare back into his bedroom. “Yes, I understand how you would reach that conclusion.” He doesn’t look good. His hair is messy and he is wearing the same suit with only one shoe. The room beyond is dark, boarded up windows and a single mattress.

“I have been out of sorts lately. Nothing to do with you so you shouldn’t concern yourself. I’ll contact you in a few days.” He turns and makes a dismissive shooing motion with one hand. The hand with the knife in it. Soul thinks it might be a more threatening gesture than Pickman intended, but then everything the man does is threatening.

  The pack is still sitting beside the table. Soul walks past Richard and begins pulling things out. Carefully packed as it is, the cans aren’t hard to find. He pulls out two and pops them open.

“Drink?”

“No, thank you.” Pickman waves him off.

“You’re dehydrated. Headache so bad you can’t see straight right? How long since you drank something?”

Pickman’s ears move back, it’s the only sign on his face that he’s gritting his teeth.

“I think you might be misinterpreting the situation Killer. I am not your friend or your lover and I do not need you here to pity me.” The last sentence punctuated by the knife’s violent entrance into the tablewood.

“I need you’re help.” Soul responded sloshing the can. “Some tactical advice for the minutemen.”

Pickman drops down in the chair opposite Soul’s, side and takes the proffered can of water. It vanished in a moment and Soul replaced it. He opened a package of deviled eggs and set them on the table between them, popping one in his mouth and sitting down himself watching Pickman sip at the purified water.

  “Presumably you didn’t come for advice from a dead man.”

You look like a dead man walking Soul wanted to reply. He recognised the far away look Pickman had in his eyes. He saw it in the mirror often enough.

Instead he just opened his own water can and downed half. He had to be more careful about getting lost from himself for such a long time.

“I suppose I should be thankful you found your way here again. I don’t know how long- how long has it been since we fixed the library’s Mutant problem.”

“About two weeks.”

Pickman shakes his head. “I thought I could break the rules and look where it got me. Thank you for the water but you really should leave now.”

“Not happening.”

“Why?”

“I need some tactical advice and I won’t trust it till your at 100%”

Pickman smiles, it has less poison in it than before, he rubs his eyes. “If you are intent to stay then stay.” He roots around under the table and finds his other shoe. Unlacing and putting it on as he talks. “I have no intention of letting you distract me till my painting is finished.”

Soul spends a moment cataloging rations and water supply for two people in his pack. About three days if he stretches it. GoodNeighbors close enough for a day trip. He nods. “I’ll wait.”

  That’s what he does. Pickman moves about the house like a ghost at all hours. The rain lets up but never stops. They talk sometimes but mostly Soul tries to keep out of his way when he’s glassy eyed and leaves open food containers out on the table. He finds them empty. It doesn’t take three days but they are low on everything, Soul is sitting on the front step considering wading through the calf-deep river the streets have become.

  He hears pounding. Inside Pickman has a nail between his teeth and he’s hammering another one into the Gallery wall. The framed painting leaning against his leg depicts a building on fire the flames turning in to faces as they climb towards the sky.

Soul feels his skin crawl. It’s the front of the Boston library Pickman has drawn and one of the faces is unmistakably Soul’s own.

  Pickman hangs the painting up on it’s wire and adjusts it to sit square with the others. He turns to Soul still standing in the doorway and pulls a hand down his face.

“I would like some of that water now. If you don’t mind.”

  They sit down in the kitchen again and soul cracks open the last of the water. They drink in silence before Pickman sighs and speaks not looking up from the gash in the table.

“I apologize for my ill manners earlier Soul. Your opinion on that nickname during our last outing was quite forceful, I assumed using it would drive you away.”

  “I’ve been called worse things. That was days ago anyway, I honestly forgot about it.”

“Days?” His eyes widen it’s the most expressive the man’s seemed since he got here. “They’re getting longer.” Pickman grumbles.

  “Mine too if it makes you feel any better.” Soul says tipping up the last of the water can. “I walked all the way here like a robot, shot some Ghouls without even thinking about it.”

Pickman blinks. “Ferals, one would hope?”

“Oh, oh ya. No I wouldn’t- I hope it would never.” Soul chokes on the liquid swallows and tries again. “I’ve never killed a person like that. Well- one but he didn’t make it easy.”

  He thinks back to MacCready pulling the gun out of his hand as it clicked over empty, again and again. “He didn’t make it easy but he had it coming.”

A well timed roll of thunder and the clattering of the windows increases as the storm piles on. They might be stuck here for a while if this didn’t let up.

“Was he your first?” Pickman asks The flashes of lightning illuminating everything in small doses.

“What? We didn’t- I had a wife. And before that even-”  

“Your first kill.” Pickman says nearly laughing.

Soul shakes his head scratching at his crusty jacket. “No, I was in the army before. I remember killing people but not who was first.“ Was that a common discussion point now a days? He remembers MacCready asking the same thing. "Do you?”

Pickman has his hands under his chin leaning forward like he’s listening to an interesting drinking story. “Oh yes.”

(I’m having some trouble figuring out what’s next. I’m thinking a flood? Pickman and Soul try to save some of the artwork but Soul REALLY DOSN’T WANT TO TOUCH IT? Your input would be valued. I am trying to get close to Guy but its difficult with so little to go off of so I feel strange using his name. Anyway thanks for the goldmine of artwork!)

a flood sounds exciting! youve already set up all the water and rain and omg i love the idea of trying to save his art;;; and dont feel bad about not adhering exactly to guy, hes pretty unpredictable, even to me, haha. i let him do whatever he wants, he never tells me anything about himself XD so i dont mind at all that soul isnt guy, hes tricky and a bit convoluted. but im glad i can provide art that you can enjoy and honored that youd write a story for me! :D i love reading your writing;;; i love how you have the characters interacting and the little exchange at the end here made me giggle out loud :D

GODDAMMIT I CANT PICK A MARRIAGE

Rune Factory 4 why do you persist in having TOO MANY GOOD CHARACTERS I’ve narrowed it down to two but now i keep changing my damn mind again! I’ve decided I’m gonna see the marriages for the three characters I liked on different save files, but who should I marry first and go with for real on this save file?? i’ve run out of patience for waiting to pick a batchelor as the VERY LAST THING i do before I turn off the game, I need to do it now! I need to do it before I start this final bonus dungeon thing to rescue [spoilery dead character] from the afterlife. I WANT TO SHOW THEM MY CHILD WHEN THEY RETURN. And this game is SO LONG and cos of how semi random the skill levelling is, I dont think I’d have the patience to complete the same 20 so hours three times to complete all the savefiles, and it’d be really frustrating if I couldnt max out all the same skills on them :P SO YEAH GAHHH Need to FINALLY DECIDE between leon and dylas!

Dylas:

* Has the most romantic chemistry in my opinion, and also my favourite main character after Arthur. (Tho I ended up not really feeling that ship so even tho hhe’s my fave batchelor he’s not the one I wanted to marry??) * is really fucking awkward adorable which is MY FAVE kind of ship! * also his romance route is primarily about cheesy romance rather than like.. lots of lusty flirty sexual attraction type stuff that I’m not really capable of understanding. * HAs a load of great character development and seems like he’d be the most happy to be with you. * is the coolest of the monster people, even if im still salty he doesnt look more like his monster form. They coulda just given him a unicorn horn and it would have brought the whole design together! * Marrying him would make me feel less salty sad that there’s no way to get him and doug to hook up when they are CLEARLY CANONICALLY BISEXUAL GEEZ * A minor con is that this would mean I have to play the rest of the game with the postgame cheat mode gay marriage thing switched on. Which could get a bit annoying since its just a character model swap and its a bit glitchy sometimes, but I like both genders of protagonist equally much anyway. i just feel slightly guilty thinking im somehow being disloyal to the one I picked at the beginning, but then again i literally only picked the girl because you cant romance dylas unless you’re the girl and GAHHH I was so happy to know you could cheat and have cheat mode gay marriage so IMMA GONNA DO IT * seriously its an option so i cant NOT take it * make up for lack of doug x dylas route by doing dylas x male protag * also dylas was the one I wanted to pick since before i knew anything about the game, he was my fave based on design alone and then his personality in his first scene was amazing and aaaa * also dylas’s romance route is REALLY TERRIBLE which is maybe a pro and maybe a con?? like.. i wanna marry him cos he had no plot and i wanna make it up to him, but i also DONT wanna marry him cos his route wasnt my favourite plot and aaaa why does my brain not make sense * also a pro: PORCOLINE * i get to officially marry into the restaurant fam! * i have literally got porcoline in my party right now while im holding the engagement ring, he needs to be there to see me pop the question! i just love this dad so much, i have to marry one of his kids * also I can pretend that arthur is still my friend and he isnt mad that i picked his brother over him and we can all be the best family ever

Leon:

* has the best and saddest romance route backstory thing that makes me feel so guilty if I dont marry him * is also my favourite design! like, dylas is the best monster but leon has the best human form design, i have no lil niggling complaints about how he looks like a wolf for no damn reason. * is the only bara character * ended up being surprisingly cute and genuine about his love and i actually really like the archetype of the flirty fake-playboy type guy who isnt the jerky playboy archetype but instead secretly adorable and shy when he falls in love for real! And its even better cos he’s a snarky overconfident trickster guy so its EVEN MORE CUTE when he drops his big facade and lets himself admit his emotions! * BUT admiteddly I still feel rather uncomfortable doing overly flirty innuendoy dating sims because I’m way too asexual to relate. I’ve had a few moments with leon where its just like... killed the moment kinda, and made me feel bad that im not the intended audience. This game makes me care about the characters so i feel just as awkward as when I’ve accidentally ‘led people on’ in real life in high school and had to super anxiously let them down. I just feel awkward even though I know that the character in-universe that I’m playing at probably isnt asexual, im still like ‘noooo i dont wanna trick him into a sexless marriage he wouldnt be happy aaaa’ * but also aaa he has the most chemistry with the female main character I think, he’s like the only one I think looks like a cuter couple with her, while I wanna ship dylas with the male mc. i just really liked a fanart I saw of them described as ‘fox and bunny’! thats totally it, her hairstyle just matches so well with an animal ears dude, and their colours have a good appeal together and stuff~ * Also i have more headcanons about what it would be like when they had kids and stuff! so thats a big appeal because getting to see the kid characters is the big reason i wanna marry a charrie * ALSO, its kinda... uhh... to put it lightly... well, Leon is literally the only dark skinned man in the entire world. SERIOUSLY. Rune Factory rarely ever has more than one character of a different race, and I just feel like if you’re gonna be so limited in your options I wanna pick that option like... maybe if they see they’re the popular ones then they’ll realise theyre making a dumb decision and add more racial diversity in future games?? or at least npcs?? seriously??? He’s not just the only dark skinned batchelor but THE ONLY CHARACTER IN THE ENTIRE WORLD. At least rune factory oceans had the whole dark elf race. (Tho that was weird that there’s apparantly no black humans in this world...)
