Sometimes I think I write Kyoko too much like a cold, hard detective for being a literal teenager/young adult, but then I remember at the age of 13 years old she canonically doused herself in vodka and threatened to light herself on fire if the killer didn’t reveal themselves

Something I lightly headcanon but don't know if I will use:
In the same way that Ryoko remembered Yasuke despite having forgotten everything else, Kyoko remembered Yui.
Kyoko realized Yui was dead when her motive video was of a man she guessed must be her grandfather and not of Yui.
(She remembered Yui's death later.)

i'm curious: who's your favorite Danganronpa background character?
(you can define Background Character however you'd like. keep in mind, though, i'm generally not thinking any of the students from the games, or even the DR3-only mains like Chisa. DR Kirigiri's Yui Samidare is borderline, but considering she's technically a Protagonist of the biggest DR spinoff, maybe not. i also don't mean "underrated," i mean obscure or otherwise rather minor, even if they are important on a wider scale. anyway, you do you on this one.)

CONTAINS HUGE SPOILERS FOR:
- danganronpa: kirigiri (DO NOT READ unless you've made it to at least volume 4)
- danganronpa 3: despair arc (basically the whole thing)
opinion mini essay/character analysis:
the ultimate imposter is more skilled than triple zero ranked detective MIKADO SHINSEN HIMSELF.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
although he looks more similar to who he impersonates, there are many people who still see through shinsen's disguise. their biggest difference is that shinsen's true self is revealed much more frequently.
kyoko kirigiri and yui samidare both felt that something was a bit off when they went to kirigiri's mansion, despite the fact yui had never even met kyoko's 'grandfather' before.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
shinsen has revealed his identity to multiple people, like the triple-zeros in the VCC (Victims Catharsis Committee, aka Crime Victims Relief Committee) and he shows yui and kyoko that the shinsen they saw at norman's hotel wasn't his true face. he was even registered in the detective library too, but his record was later wiped.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the ultimate imposter is so elusive they don't even have an identity at all. hell, the reason they were even scouted into the academy was because they impersonated koichi kizakura, the guy scouting. he later found out about this and invited them to attend hopes peak.
they only ever revealed their "true self" three times. once to ryota, which was necessary because they needed to find a new disguise. once to mikan, since she had to tend to the actual mitarai, and they needed to explain why there were two of them. and a third time to the rest of class 77b, since they could easily run into ryota and it would have to be explained anyway
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
however what makes the ultimate imposter better is the fact they can mimic someone's personality, actions, and talent perfectly, so looking exactly like them doesn't really matter.
they managed to fool class 77b and who knows how many others for years. even chisa wasn't able to distinguish between mitarai and the guy impersonating him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
they can be a money-hungry asshole, a sword-fighting leader, or literally just some guy. tldr: imposter solos

I never realized i posted a tier list here until now, but just posting a normal, boring tier list of the game and maybe anime characters is soooo bland! So why not,
(almost) EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER IN THE DR FRANCHISE RANKED (spoilers for every entry obviously)
Tumblr media
You’ll need a microscope to go through all of them lol, also, since its an obligatory thing, here’s some opinions on my top 10 characters!
TOP 10:
Sato: I don’t even need to explain it, because I quite literally have 30 times already, if you want to know how much I really love her, then check out my defence post pinned in my profile.
Karen Kisaragi: She is a character that strangely resembles sato in a way, IE; both are somewhat disliked by the fandom because they killed someone for “No reason” despite the fact they did have reasons and were in a state where they cannot think right. Which means, Kisato is peak!!!! (I seriously need to finish my fanfic abt them)
Yasuke Matsuda: Best novel character by FAR, he has a fun character, cool background, nice design, and just overall a nice anti-hero that has motives that you can actually understand. (which resemble sato too LMAO)
Yuto Kamishiro: Another dr0 character in a row! While yes, he is a creepy bastard when we first meet him, throughout the novel, we get to see more and more of him and his motives/personality shine and its just fantastic, while he would originally have been A+ though, what really sold me was when I started my “Full Class-Batch” series with Class 77-A, which made me love him even more.
Shoji Yoko & Daiki Kubo: Yup, the two character we never got to see their deaths in screen form (they’re shown in the dr0 novel), heck, even Shoji doesn’t have a canon voice. But what can I say? These two scream bros vibes HARD, like they’re the typical “bros before hoes” type.
Kyoko Kirigiri: FINALLY, a character that is from the games! She is amazing and the best one, from her mysterious aura in dr1, from her sacrifice in dr3, to her backstory in drk, she deserves the top spot for the best game character.
Hajime Hinata: Best protag is here! Yeah, I said it, he is the best protag. He shines in chapters like 6 and also in the anime where we see his struggles and doubts (dr3 is overhated, fight me). Not to mention his interactions with characters like Chiaki and Nagito, people say he is bland, but I dig otherwise.
Yui Samidare: 2nd best protag! Honestly, her and hajime could be interchangeable in spots, she is just that good! Her development and sister-like friendship with Kyoko is so cute!!!!, and so sad when you realize she protects Kyoko at all costs bc of her dead sister :( and makes it even more sad in the end of the novel. YUIIII WHYYYY.
Mikan Tsumiki: final character in my top 10, I feel so bad for her and what she went through both inside and outside of the tragedy, it goes to show how mental trauma like that can truly change a person, hope she is doing okay now.
Also, for those wondering who is missing here:
Almost Danganronpa Togami character.
Makoto Secret File Characters.
UDG Book Authors.
Kazuichi Novel characters (If any).
Drama CDS characters (if any).
Stage play Actors.
(maybe) some Danganronpa Gaiden/Manga characters
Oh yeah, heres my tierlist template for anyone to use: https://tiermaker.com/create/every-single-danganronpa-character-1204761-2

Salvage Showcase - Korisu Kakitsubata
It's the horror season, and what better way to celebrate than by doing a Showcase on the main 'villain' of Danganronpa Kirigiri Volume 3, and Culprit of the Takeda Haunted Mansion Duel Noir: Korisu Kakitsubata!!!
Tumblr media
(Korisu is the left silhouette behind Licorne)
Summary
Korisu was a detective registered in the Detective Library under the DSC of 488, specializing in animal welfare. Like all Victims, Korisu has a traumatic past that influenced her to take up the Duel Noir. Eight year prior to the Duel Noir, Korisu was with her family up on a mountain railway. However, a fire broke out and during Korisu's attempt to escape, she got seperated from her family. Her family, unfortunately, ended up being trapped behind closed emergency exit doors - doors that were shut by Suntetsu Shirasu. Shirasu closed the doors to prevent the smoke from killing more people, but as a result, 28 people (including Korisu's family) who were trapped behind the door, died in the blaze. Suntetsu was never identified or arrested for the incident, and Korisu was left traumatized to the point she heard voices of the victims in her head.
Korisu would be confronted by the Victims Catharsis Committee, and would take up their offer of competing in a Duel Noir. In her case, Korisu planned out the Takeda Haunted Mansion murder. The idea behind it was to lure in Shirasu with three other detectives: Sachi Mizuiyama (her scapegoat), Salvador Fukuro Yadorigi and Hajiki Yaki. Under the guise of the deceased Saiun Takeda, she lured them in with various tip-offs of crime at the manor. Once all five met, Korisu would eventually drug Shirasu to enact her scheme. Hoisting him between two armored warriors, she would set up her locked room case to have a bunch of rubber bands use a katana as a makeshift slingshot to kill her Target. The deed was done as Yui and Kyoko had arrived, with them being only moments away from saving Suntetsu before the blade plunged itself into his back.
During this exchange, Korisu tried to pose as just a vapid, party-gal, woman who didn't have a care in the world. Initially, she seen to have gotten away with her murder as Sachi was initially fingered as the culprit. But, to her downfall, this was a trap set up by Kyoko - catching Korisu back at the crime scene with the intent to destroy any remaining evidence of her misdeeds. Despite Korisu's attempts at trying to refute Kyoko's claims, not only did Kyoko figure out how Korisu's trick worked - she even had proof it was only Korisu that could have done it. The main piece being the fact that, during the murder, Korisu had used the armor sandals to walk outside since Salvador was too busy admiring art out in the hallway for her to safely get her stilleto's back. Unfortunately, given the size of the shoes was too big for the boys and too small for someone as short as Sachi, it was only her that could have used them, and when its clear they were used in the crime, Korisu was stuck as the sole candidate.
Korisu gives up, and admits to doing the Duel Noir to put the voices at rest. However, while initially coolheaded at her defeat, she panics once they saw she's in danger of being executed due to inability to pay the VCC back their earnings. Ultimately, she takes Kyoko's advice to go with the cops to be arrested, though the last shot of her from Yui's POV shows her to clearly still be struggling with the 'voices' returning. In the next volume, while she doesn't appear, she is mentioned by Salvador to be safe since Gekka has paid off her debt, but she'll still be tried for her crimes.
While Korisu acts like an airheaded, flashy, yet bubbly party girl - this is merely a facade. In truth, Korisu is pretty intelligent, lucid, and crafty to the point that she needed to be lured into a trap to expose her since her current set-up lacked real hard hitting evidence to expose her without it. Due to her trauma, Korisu hear the voices of those who perished in the fire's blaze, and was desperate enough to appease them by taking up a VCC. While not being a sore loser, she is terrified of being murdered herself and begs for the girls to save her as she realizes she's doomed to be executed.
Rundown
Being both a Detective and a Victim, Korisu has a few things going for her in regard to the DRK's theme - which I have already pinned as being about Justice & Corruption.
In this case, Korisu is on the side of Corruption, in this case Appeasement of her trauma and another aspect of criticizing the 'greater good' theme in Volume 3 on a whole. On the Greater Good theme first, while like the other Victims, she's motivated by vengeance - it's less hatred based and more so just trying to find some form of peace in her life. As stated before, Korisu had been severely traumatized from her family being roasted to death despite her protests because someone sacrificed them for their perceived 'greater good'. In turn, for the sake of finding closure for the voices, she's willing to not only slay Suntetsu, but also sacrificing someone else's peace for her own safety. In doing so, this puts her about as bad as Suntetsu himself. It also smacks into the Greater Good message that Gekka and Lico usually use to justify their own violent acts, since it shows such a line of thinking is both detrimental towards bystanders and those involved alike, but also winds up leaving new collateral to suffer down a path like Korisu's as well. Ergo sustaining the cycle further.
In terms of the Corruption theme (and her own Drive as a detective), namely Appeasement, Korisu's case is used to show why giving in to vengeance and bloody murder as means of clearing up mental issues, just doesn't work like how Gekka or the VCC think it works. She got her paybck on Suntetsu, yes, but in turn it didn't solve her problem with the voices in her head yelling at her and it certainly wasn't helped by her actual arrest. Even if she won, she was only confused, not satisfied with doing the deed - meaning that in spite of promising relief to the Victims they lure in, at best they only piled on new worries to give them. At worse, if they don't kill them outright, the Victims are left with new trauma and anguish on top of their old wounds. There's is no truly satisfaction to be gained by playing in a Duel Noir and looking for justice. Just tragedy.
In terms of character comparison and contrasts, the immediate one you would think of is Sachi, another Victim and Detective of the 12 Duel Noir Challenge. Both were willing to kill, and even harm innocents, not for their own sakes, but for the sakes of those who, really, couldn't have enjoyed such endeavors or approved of them, even if they really wanted to. Both Korisu's family and Gekka were dead by the time their Duel Noirs started. As such, their actions proved only to harm themselves in the long run with no real benefits. In terms of demeanor, they're kind of the polar opposite of each other in, even if their end goals are roughly the same. Korisu acts immature to hide the fact she's smarter than she appears, while Sachi portrays herself as a composed detective, to hide how much of a zealot she was for Gekka. In terms of scale, Korisu was hard focus on her own personal trauma, whilst Sachi's love for Gekka had her disregard even her own Catharsis for the sake of seeing him thrive in the VCC.
Of course, I'd also be remiss to not add in how much Korisu reflects on Junko Enoshima. Both being fashionista types that people would never suspect of masterminding intricate murders. Although the biggest difference between the two is that Korisu is ultimately doing her misdeeds as a form of closure, while Junko is working towards a goal of constant open despair.
Personal Thoughts
Korisu makes for a fine, 'final boss' of volume 3. Give the chaotic nature of the book in setting up the 12 Duel Noir Challenge, the battle at Meyura Station, Lico, one would think the actual Duel Noir Victim just wouldn't hit as well as Tadashi or Sae, but she's proved me wrong.
She's extremely entertaining play up the bratty fashion dive and love that the antagonist for this time around tried for the Junko Enoshima manner of villainess. It also helps her motivation is extremely compelling and makes her quite sympathetic as to why she'd work with the VCC. This is a high praise, especially when you consider how Vol. 4 and 5 treated the remainder of the Zodiac Victims.
Of course, beyond that, it also makes me sad volume 3 would be her only real appearance, but I was at least glad that she fulfilled her role properly. Beyond that, I loved the Takeda Haunted Mansion she set up and how it filled well with the ideas of her being haunted by her own past, and using it to take vengeance on Suntetsu (even if trying to wrap my head around the murder method was a real killer X_X)
Ultimately, for what it's worth, Korisu was a nice stopping point to end Vol 3 out on (besides Yui visiting Kyoko's home of course) and remains a favored of mine among the DRK cast!
-
With this out of the way, up next is DR Togami!! Be a while until then so if you have anyone you'd like to see talked about before it gets posted, feel free to recommend!

Re: last ask, I also feel like when you have the level of trust Shuichi had in Kaede at the time, its easy to not pay attention to what she was doing and just trusting her to do what needed to be done. I was talking to someone on discord about this earlier but I truly feel like some people give Shuichi a lot of flack for not seeing Everything in a very complex and emotionally difficult situations (like ch5 as well) as an apprentice detective who, like you said, before DR had worked on ONE murder case before. He's just trying his best
Like Kyoko's backstory is incredibly more intense, my girl was solving locked room murders with her life on the line since she was like 11, like she was straight up in what is basically a saw trap called the Duel Noir with Yui who is THIRTEEN and mentioned to be older then Kyoko NINE FUCKING TIMES, Kyoko is the exception to detective skill level, not the rule!
Meanwhile Shuichi is an infinitely more normal apprentice who finds missing pets and takes on infidelity cases and accidentally solved a single homicide case when he found some paperwork which means HE DIDNT EVEN SEE THE CRIME SCENE
He's a good detective! a prodigy even! He's not a Kirigiri though! He''s had a very normal apprenticeship and like two years of hopes peak at MOST before the ultimate hunt drove him into hiding! His skillset is VASTLY different, he's good at picking out the small details other people skip over when he has time to think them over and stew on them. To be able to do that at lightning speed at first sight of a dead body is a skill he has to DEVELOP over the game, and only by the end can he even somewhat do that, because he's NOT HOMICIDE, he's good at methodically finding things that are missing which is very different from solving murder within like three hours.

i think if i ever end up writing (more of) the everybody lives, nobody dies danganronpa au (the one where mukuro never finds out that she and ryoko are sisters but ryoko still knows which leads to some. different decisions and outcomes), i think i realized writing the mukuro/kirumi fic that uh. kirumi is actually the correct plot-relevant shipping option there.
because the general premise is that mukuro, not knowing they are sisters, definitely confesses to ryoko pre-fenrir, and ryoko, definitely knowing they are sisters, says no. as a result, ryoko is not on the trip when mukuro joins fenrir and a lot of things that happen do not happen. mukuro uses her time in fenrir to try and get over ryoko and then goes to hope's peak and hey, look who's here (and also has a boyfriend!) and just. realizes she is absolutely not over ryoko and so enlists the help of new classmate to help her get ryoko to fall in love with her. only to then fall in love with new classmate who is supposed to be helping her get ryoko.
(meanwhile izuru kamukura still exists in the background and will still probably get dealt with but differently because ryoko is still ryoko and not junko. this is not the main focus of the fic. kind of like how the sos brigade is still in the background of the dr haruhi crossover trying to keep haruhi and junko from figuring stuff out and we can see references to that happening but it's not the focus of the series yet.)
and like. a mukuro who has previously encountered kirumi and has rival feelings towards her but also who kirumi has told to hire her and knows that the ultimate maid can fulfill any reasonable request absolutely hiring kirumi to help her get ryoko to fall in love with her (and kirumi actually accepting the request - i would want to word this very exactly because kirumi probably can't make ryoko fall in love with her but she can help mukuro be more appealing to ryoko, probably (or at least can maybe think she can)) is a certain brand of shenanigans that i. think would actually be hilarious.
especially with so much of the class being aware of mukuro's crush and keep giving tips and kirumi just no, these are bad, these are stupid, no, my advice is better and also kirumi basically taking on a request that she has to realize over time is not something she can fulfill (to the point of ryoko having to just hey, this is what is going on, can you help and then maybe taking on a request to get mukuro to get over ryoko, which maybe is really what's going on in the background here - she maybe feigns taking on mukuro's request because she's already taken on ryoko's, but that's less character arc for kirumi, so maybe she doesn't have that request initially) and then the class taking sides over who mukuro actually really likes and mukuro being oblivious to her own growing feelings for kirumi like.
i don't know that i will ever write this but man it would be fun.

What are your thoughts on Yui Samidare? She's one of my favorites!!
Disclaimer: I feel really bad trying to give a thorough answer to this, because I struggled so much initially with reading the English DR Kirigiri translation I ended up reading in depth summaries instead. I probably should give it another try now that it's been a few years and I've gotten used to the light novel style of writing. Maybe I'll read aloud an audiobook version or do a book club or something when we hit a follower milestone! We're coming up on 500 soon.
That said: I LOVE Yui. I love having an "everyman" who in fact has a complex backstory and is extremely talented in her own rite. I love her drive for justice and the impossible choices she's forced to make in pursuit of it. I love tragedies so much - I find them very cathartic - and, of every character in DR, I would argue that Yui has the most poetic, most self-fulfilling tragedy of them all.
DR is a game series with Big Personalities. The in-game protagonists, while they have meaningful characters, are often overshadowed by their companions. Hajime, though beloved, is never going to have quite the presence of Gundham Tanaka, Dark Overlord of Evil. But the written protags are all certifiably nuts. They're The characters of their stories. Kanon is attempting to destroy the entire Future Foundation using skills she gained training to hit a baseball at 100 MPH for a boy who canonically rejected her 3000 times. That's NUTS. That's QUITE A PERSON.
And all of the written protags are like that!! They're all grade-A, certifiably The Weird Guy In The Room. Look at Ryoko! Look at TAKUMI. There's so much going on for all of them. And Yui really inhabits that space too, but from a heroic standpoint. Yui is a character who believes in and pursues justice and a better world, and who does her best to take care of the middle schoolers who have come under her care out of genuine affection for them. AND she can do a six foot vertical leap, which she uses to sneak into Kyoko's house and kick her dead grandfather. What a girl. I love Danganronpa's female protagonists.

One Final Meeting
Tumblr media
Well...how are we all feeling in this moment? There's no point in us holding back anymore. This is our last chance to air out our thoughts before we all leave to get ready.
-Chisa Yukizome, Acting Chairman, Head of the 5th Branch. Final fight location: HQ-
Tumblr media
Well...before anything else, how is Chairman Munakata fairing?
-Daisaku Bandai, Head of the 11th Branch. Final Fight Location: HQ-
Tumblr media
Last I heard was that he was still unresponsive...dammit! He's gonna miss out on the fight!
-Ethos Oroya, Head of the Special Operations Branch. Final Fight Location: HQ-
Tumblr media
As strong as Munakata is, we mustn't become discouraged without his presence in the fighting. We are still powerful!
-Great Gozu, Head of the 12th Branch. Final Fight Location: Tokyo Front Lines-
Tumblr media
Gozu-kun is right. And we've all worked as best as we can the past week...I'm sure the joined efforts of these Ultimates will see us into a better future.
-Jin Kirigiri, Head of the 13th Branch. Final Fight Location: HQ-
Tumblr media
I-indeed. However, I worry about these battle plans. Are you sure that this is all correct? I can't imagine some of these people on the front lines...
-Kiyotaka Ishimaru, Head of the 10th Branch. Final Fight Location: HQ (Unable to fight)-
Tumblr media
I promise you, everything written on there is what people signed up for. And we gave 'em the choice. Gotta respect it, y'know?
-Koichi Kizakura, Head of the 3rd Branch. Final Fight Location: Tokyo Front Lines-
Tumblr media
All the supplies we got off of the American resistance have been vital as well. I've made sure to send our regard again and made sure we've divided up the ammunition and such appropriately.
-Kyouko Kirigiri, Head of the 14th Branch. Final Fight Location: Tokyo Front Lines-
Tumblr media
"Not to mention all the review courses on our opponents had huge turnouts. The foundation is as informed on the Despairs as they possibly can be."
-Miaya Gekkougahara, Head of the 7th Branch. Final Fight Location: Tokyo Front Lines-
Tumblr media
Same 'fer the training courses. Everybody's in about as good of shape as they can be.
-Mondo Oowada, Head of 6th branch Riot Suppression. Final Fight Location: Tokyo Front Lines-
Tumblr media
...are the people at the Hokkaido base going to be okay? It's clearly got a lot less manpower than the HQ or the frontlines.
-Mukuro Ikusaba, Head of the 2nd Branch. Final Fight Location: Tokyo Front Lines-
Tumblr media
We'll be fine. Everything was on track when I left and...for better or for worse, I trust Ouma-san to finish the job. It's more important to focus on taking down the Despair's base whilst defending our own main operations.
-Ryuu Nagata, Head of the Hokkaido Base. Final Fight Location: Hokkaido-
Tumblr media
And all the bases should be well stocked with medical supplies. And we have field medics for each location. Hopefully they'll be enough...
-Seiko Kimura, Head of the 4th Branch. Final Fight Location: HQ-
Tumblr media
You've done more than enough, Kimura. Don't let yourself think otherwise.
-Sonosuke Izayoi, Head of the 9th Branch. Final Fight Location: HQ-

H-honestly, I don't have much to report. At the very least everybody's been well fed this week so there shouldn't be issues with energy tomorrow.

...if that's the case, may I say something?
-Yui Samidare, Head of the 6th Branch Detective Bureau. Final Fight Location: Hokkaido-

You have quite the serious expression. Is there something urgent on your mind, Samidare-kun?
Tumblr media
We're going to win!
Tumblr media
Bwah! Don't yell so suddenly!
Tumblr media
No matter what happens...We can't lose after everything we've put ourselves through. All the sacrifice. All the despair...I won't accept anything but our victory, and it's our jobs as branch heads to make sure that becomes a reality!
Tumblr media
That goes without saying...and Yukizome? Thank you for getting us through this week.
Tumblr media
You all got yourselves through this week, I just had a spiffy little title for the week.

I’ve been meaning to ask this
How was Yui alive in the first place? I recall that she died at the end of the Kirigiri novel, the same event that burnt Kyoko’s hands. But here it’s as if she survived with no mention of the resurrection chambers.
//I'll be completely honest. Survivor was written before the final volume of Kirigiri came out, so I didn't know what actually happened to Yui.
//Though, I should've seen her death coming a mile away, since Kyoko never brings her up in the main series, and that would have to make sense somehow.
//Also, I realized I never actually explained this, and I'm sorry for that, but what I personally had happen was that Yui was resuscitated after the Duel Noir, but was in a coma for a good few years, only waking up after the end of the Tragedy (post DR3). She went through rehab, and started working as a detective again, but her and Kyoko's relationship remained distant, since Kyoko was a significantly different person by the time they reunited.
//Also, with that in mind, now is a good time to announce it, but because she never got revived through the machines, Yui is still fair game to be used for them, so I will be bringing her back in Phase 3, even if not immediately.
//She can join Chiaki, Kyoko, and Nekomaru in the "I died multiple times" club.

Who is your favourite SUPER minor DR character? Personally I've always liked Turo Kurosaki for some reason. That whole "dying with grace" thing and Very Bisexual design stood out a lot
Hmmm. Probably Yui Samidare. Is that rare enough? I haven't actually finished DR: Kirigiri, because when I first read it it a) wasn't completely translated and b) was still being released, I think? But I remember Really Really liking her. Yasuke Matsuda and Ryouko Otonashi (if she even counts as a separate character) are two of my favorite Danganronpa characters ever, but I feel like those aren't minor enough for this question. I also liked Kyouka from Kirigiri: Sou (though I'm... Also not done with that). Hmm. I also find the unnamed monokuma maid in DR0 to be interesting- her character says a lot about the reserve course riots. Are those all minor enough?
Great pick with Kurosaki though. The Student Council doesn't get a lot of content about it, but what little we saw of them was really interesting. How he and Tsubasa died is so sad. (They were already going to die, whyd you have to kill them like that? 🥺) Plus, the student council all have amazing designs.

"Blood in the Cut" - Naegiri Week 2022 Day 4: Locked In/Out
(extremely late addition)
Rating: Mature (for adult themes/adult situations and violence/injury)
Summary: Makoto and Kyoko travel to Towa City as they continue their quest to find Kyoko's former partner, Yui Samidare. Their search brings them to where the families of the original Killing Game's victims were held for over a year; clues hidden behind every locked door in the desolate, abandoned halls of Towa Hotel.
- Years after the tragedy that left her permanently scarred, Kyoko Kirigiri begins to question if the partner she thought had died for her may really be alive. Needing answers and closure, Kyoko begins an impossible quest to find Yui Samidare. The second installment of a Danganronpa: Kirigiri AU.
Notes: Originally written for Naegiri Week 2022, Day 4 - Locked In/Out. Brief Disclaimer: Recently, English fan translations of all seven Danganronpa: Kirigiri books have been completed by a dedicated fan of the series. At the time of writing this work of mine, only the first few books had English fan translations available online. While I made every effort I could to reference the original series' events and characters as accurately as possible with the information I had, however, this AU may not be perfect or have all the canon facts straight as of right now. I'm hoping to iron out this monstrous idea I have more thoroughly as I (finally) read through the DR:K series to its full extent. :) With that said, hope anyone reading this enjoys!
