The ancient Leuke, worked under Emet-Selch in tending the underworld. Her soul, when sundered, eventually becomes Odette.

Leuke had a rather an uncanny ability to find wayward souls and return them. It is likely that her working with the Underworld is what allows for Odette's resurrection and it most certainly is the root of her affinity for ghosts and other ashkin. She and Emet were never romantic! He did met her one time and then arranged for her to be moved to his employ. Seeing in her something to cultivate and nurture. Rumors quickly spread of her being groomed to be his replacement, though she never believed this herself. Very much a 'I'll believe it when I see it' kind of person. Generally kind and well-meaning but also described as 'off-putting' by her fellows. This is technically my second draft at an Ancient! Specifically one connected to Odette. I am very enamored with her... Will have to brainstorm what her exact role was but for now!

I was talking about this on a call the other day but one of my favorite things about Sea of Thieves is that the characters are allowed to be ugly and so wildly diverse. Even the skeletons are diverse and have compelling and fun designs.

Note that when I say ugly I don’t mean that as a bad thing - I’m a firm believer that ugly doesn’t have to be a bad word, just the same as fat doesn’t have to be. Nobody’s perfect and that’s beautiful etc etc, when I say ugly I mean “not conventionally attractive” and it’s something I wholeheartedly appreciate

Like. Player pirates are randomly generated, which can be frustrating but at the end of the day it’s refreshing to not be able to sit and put together the perfect pirate. There will always be little scars or nicks or features you didn’t choose to place there, but they’re your pirates’ features. Just a couple days ago I realized my pirate has a snake bite on her cheek, and I LOVE that it’s there, though I never would have considered it for her had I been given the option to build her from scratch.

The NPCs, too, are diverse, and allowed to be flawed, and ugly. With their crooked or missing teeth and imperfect proportions and scars and asymmetrical faces - Rare could have very easily chosen to make every last NPC a perfectly pretty face fit for a magazine, and they chose not to. It makes the characters feel a little more real, more like they’re people - I can’t tell you how often I sit and examine the models of NPCs to look at every little detail and just appreciate how imperfect they are.

And like previously stated - and perhaps the thing I appreciate the most - even the skeleton characters are widely varied. Rathbone moves with a hunched posture that hides the fact his frame is fairly small, Grimm is tall and wide in that way that Sea of Thieves builds their fat characters, one of Chi’s horns is growing from her eye socket and she’s lankier than Ruth’s sturdy frame, Horatio has arms that are just a little too long, so on and so forth.

Just… Sure, I don’t by any means love Rare as a company, but the character design we see in Sea of Thieves is some of the best I’ve ever seen. I have a lot of love for this pirate game and the amount of love the design team put into every single character they offer us

Do you do any formal strenght training / conditioning excercises for Spart and Troj or is Spart being built like a bull due to good diet and a lot of hiking?

i bought paw pods for troj earlier this year and used them exactly two times (shame! shame!) and i do own material on this topic. but I'm really bad at structured training, be it physical or otherwise.

i don't know if we really hike *that much* as its about the terrain itself. when every change of surface is taller than you are, i think it's hard to avoid building muscle.

sparty's physical development has been fascinating, though. throughout her young and even adult life she's been in fairly good shape but very narrow and with prominent bone structure. she's never been completely scraped of fat, I've always kept her with a certain layer over the ribs and she's been strong but lean. but after entering her senior years she's gotten bulkier - her chest has widened, her loin has filled out, and she holds her weight pretty differently than she used to. I'm sure this is more about how the body stores fat than about the particular type of muscle build, but you know? age looks good on her atm.

I’m not a fat person. I never have been. I’ve loved people in many shapes though. My ex girlfriend has been skinny, fat, and in between. She was always beautiful though. Stunning. It was never about her body, and living with chronic pain she is quick to vocalize when she’s uncomfortable be it due to her weight or a part of her body that was just in pain from life wearing away at her bones and joints. Ultimately, she’s the most beautiful when she’s not skinny. Being skinny doesn’t look right on her. Her shoulders and hips are wide, she looks stocky when skinny and voluptuous and just so beautifully curvy when she’s got some weight to her. I would never ask her to lose weight, not unless it was a serious risk to her health. And you know what the funny thing is? We eat about the same, exercise about the same, and we look totally different. My genetics are different, my metabolism is different, how our bodies are shaped is different. It’s okay to be fat, but you still need to be healthy. If you’re eating right, taking care of yourself, doing as much movement as you’re personally capable of, that’s the body you’re supposed to be in.

Please, please be considerate of your fat friends' needs and limitations. Fat bodies are heavy to carry around. I move about the world slower than my thin peers, and I've often had to choose between pushing myself to keep a pace that takes absolutely all my energy, or being left behind, when walking in a group. I don't always feel safe to ask that everyone walk slower, because there's a prevalent idea in society that fat people need to exert themselves as much as possible at all times in the service of weight loss, and that we never "really" need rest, therefore it's a good thing whenever we're exhausted. Fat people and thin people alike are taught that fatness is a flaw, one that fat people ourselves are to blame for, so we're not entitled to any accommodation or consideration. A friend of mine who is fat recently told me about a dinner party she went to where the chairs were far too small for her and she was sitting very uncomfortably. After the meal she politely suggested moving the party to the couch, but the others didn't want to. She spent another couple of hours in unnecessary pain, and didn't dare tell them about it. I love my thin friends, but some of them just don't realize that I weigh probably twice as much as them, and yet I balance it all on the same size feet and carry it on about the same size bones. I'm like if they had a whole other them to carry around at all times. Why would that not have an impact on how I function? Please - take us into consideration when we're part of activities. Ask us which activities work and which don't. Adjust the pace so no one has to be dry heaving and sweating barrels on what's supposed to be a casual walk. Make sure venues have seating that fits us. Make it safe for us to speak up if we need something. When we do, don't treat us like we're the problem. Finally: yes, we have heard of losing weight. Even those of us who might (and many never will, whether you like it or not), won't do it on a moment's notice. If your response to "fat people deserve accommodations" is "what if they weren't fat though", you're playing a fantasy game. It's pointless. We are fat and we are here and we do partake in society. Work with that.

In a truck stop bathroom washing my hands today and 2 boys, looked about 5 and 9, came in with their little sister who looked maybe 2. The following whispered conversation made my entire day

"We have to wait, there's a lady in here!"

"That's not a lady, he has a mustache! We can be in here!"

"Some ladies have mustaches! And she has boobs!"

"Well some guys have boobs! Like Uncle Jake!"

"Uncle Jake is fat!"

At this point I could not contain a chuckle and both whirled around with identical looks of panic on their faces. I smiled and said "it's alright for you guys to be in here so your sister has help, don't worry. And I'm both! That's why I have boobs and a mustache. Some folks are just built that way"

(In unison) "Ooooooh!"

(older boy) "So do you use Sir or Ma'am or both?"

"Both, but I prefer Sir"

"Cool! Well thanks Sir! We have to help our sister now!"

This was in a small town country truck stop and both boys had "Murica" type stuff on and neither of them had any issue at all with these concepts. Their mom approached me while I was in line about 10 minutes later and apologized for them bothering me in the bathroom (they had told her about the interaction) and she and I had a lovely little chat too. I got to introduce her to the term "intersex" and her reply was "I think I've heard of that before! I didn't know that was the word for it. Amazing how many different ways God can make people!"

Sometimes the world is good. More often than you might think, if you give it a chance. It's not all bad loves <3
