As someone who sticks mostly to post-crisis pre-flashpoint continuity, it is always so, so WEIRD to see Jason treated like he's rejecting love that's readily on offer, cause that is such the exact opposite of what happens during this time period

He reaches out to Bruce and gets his throat slit. (Not to mention the scene were Bruce tells Alfred not to take the case down because "it makes no difference" i.e. he is dead to him, and essentially disowned in my reading of that scene)

He reaches out to Dick and Dick wishes he had stayed dead and seriously considers not rescuing him when he's in danger. Like straight up he's not sure he shouldn't just leave him to die.

He reaches out to Tim and Tim fights him. Like through this whole time period Tim just friggin hates the guy!

Donna... Kinda tolerates him, and mostly sticks up for him as the world's ending around them in Countdown, but it only takes one normal Bat fake betrayal to *save their lives* and he's back to being rejected.

Kyle hates his guts.

Mia definitely doesn't like him, and yes I am counting his staged battle where he made his case that they were similar and she should be a lethal vigilante as reaching out.

And like they have very good reasons not to like him!! The ways in which he's reaching out are often pretty fucked, but the fact remains that his attempts to connect are real, even if they're not what any of us would consider reasonable. The other bats could have accepted and joined him. Jason changing his ways is not the only possibility here. He clearly, desperately wants to be a family with them in many of these comics and works (disasterously lol) to make that happen.

Like... Genuinely not mad, cause newer continuity changes a whole lot, most of this is probably nothing but perspective bias due to which comics I've read, but it's just so head scratchingly bizarre to see Jason portrayed as being the one who won't reach out, won't try to reconnect, when that's the main thing I've seen him do in comics lmao

Like how are you gonna tell me that the most desperate to be loved, "I just wanted to see if we could still be family", "Work with me Tim! You've got great strategies!", "Donna is sad, I'm gonna hug her now", clingy motherfucker on EARTH is gonna sit there and claim he's better off alone???? And doesn't want HUGS???????? Cannot parse it lmao

Evan is a disowned heir of a rich family who ends up as the Victorian doctor who performs illegal surgeries and wanders the streets at night kidnapping prostitutes or just anyone unfortunate enough to be sleeping in an alleyway, and harvesting their organs for the Black Market to support himself and his twin sister Pandora who was also disowned, as she tries to get her education complete enough to secure a full-time teaching job as a professor at a well-known university. They bear the posh accents and elegant mannerisms of their wealthy birth. The twins live in a run-down, cheap, and dirty flat in a building owned and forgotten by the aristocratic Crouch Family where their only son, a sleazy and lecherous professor named Barty, often runs off too to avoid his father.

Barty somehow becomes friends with Pandora and endears himself to Evan, who he pays absurd amounts of money as a resurrectionist for his lectures at the university. Over time it becomes less for his lectures and more of an excuse to talk to Evan more often. One day, Barty decides to follow Evan and finds him dissecting people in dank alleyways and just watches in amazement before running off back to his house and spending the entire night drinking absurdly expensive alcohol and just thinking about Evan and his blood-streaked blonde hair and steady hands and mindless humming. The next day, Barty cannot keep his cool and has to leave earlier than usual or else he might jump Evan and impulsively sends the guy a bunch of photos containing cadavers and organs as a pathetic attempt at flirting. He was actually supposed to use those photos for his upcoming lecture and had to ask another professor at the university if he could borrow theirs.

Meanwhile, Regulus is the fiance of a wealthy aristocratic heir who ran away after getting caught in a scandal where he publicly berated and attempted to physically attack his to-be-husband and his mistress, who was the wife of another aristocrat. Due to his pride, he chose to run away on his own terms instead of being disowned. He quickly comes to the conclusion that he doesn't understand how to navigate life without his family's support so he turns to prostitution and caters to broke lower-class men and women who want to delude themselves with the illusion of a comfortable and wealthy lifestyle with Regulus' elegant and upper-class mannerisms and speech. He finds the job isn't all too different from when he was pandering to the society around him back with his parents. At his job, he meets Evan, who nearly tries to kill Regulus without looking properly, and he immediately recognizes him from dinner parties, balls, and shared private tutors so there is just this moment when Evan has Regulus pinned to the ground with a pair of scissors at Reg's throat and his eyes just brighten like "Hey! I know you!" and Regulus is like "😨" and hyperventilating. Regulus eventually moves in with the Twins, much to their delight.

On the terms of Jegulus, because I can't help myself, the news of Regulus' runaway reaches Sirius who was aboard studying and he flees home back to London immediately and spends a week running back and forth from his parents to the Potters' and their son, James, a politician. Mainly just him screaming at his parents for their poor parenting and running to the Potters' to cry about where Regulus could've possibly went or if he's alive. This repeats for about a week and is how James becomes familiar with Regulus, through Sirius' pov, and the situation that has occurred. Everything kinda just marinates in his head for some time until he's out at night and thoroughly frustrated with his occupation and its details, runs into Regulus, who, not knowing it's James, offers his services with a teasing voice and alluring eyes. When he does recognize James, he immediately makes a run for it, leading to a 12 am cat and mouse chase between a sophisticated politician and riches to rags prostitute. Eventually, James corners Regulus, but finds that he literally has no idea what to do so they just stand in an alleyway dead end in silence for a long time until:

"I won't talk if you don't talk."

"Deal."

James tries to take Regulus up on his earlier offer but both of them feel a little too weirded out after a small make-out session so James just sends him a stack of money and runs off. Should've been a done deal, right? Nope, James finds himself walking that same street a couple days later and sees Regulus again, it spirals into a long range of nightly hangouts where they would just sit on a bench and talk, without anything physical, and James would drop money in Regulus' hands and run off, repeat. The arrangement works for them nicely and is how they fall in love. Which is disastrous actually because then James avoids Regulus like a plague for a couple of days and during those couple of days, Regulus focuses his attention on clients who like James in some way. When they meet up again, it awkward asf but they kiss once and walk away with “Are we together???” In their heads.

Proof that Jinx Ziggs has a heart

I'm currently writing the first chapter of my Jinx!Ironman AU fic ❤️❤️❤️

I don't have an estimate of when it will be finished just yet because I keep going back and rewriting and editing as I go, but as soon as I finish I'll be announcing it here on Tumblr.

In the meantime, here is a list of character that I've come up with so far:

Powder "Jinx" Ziggs -

Jinx is obviously playing Tony Stark. There are some diversions from Tony Stark's character. For one, Jinx will still have her family and is a single mother to Isha. She is somewhat estranged from her family because of her busy lifestyle.

She also has a history of struggling with psychosis and is prone to auditory hallucinations but has made leaps and bounds in handling her condition.

Another diversion is that she built up her wealth independently, unlike Tony, who came from generational wealth.

Her company is called Jinx Industries, and even though her legal name is Powder, she prefers to be called Jinx.

She also prefers to go by her birth parent's names, because she's scared that their name will be gone forever if she doesn't go by it.

Isha Connie Ziggs -

Is Jinx's biological daughter, she was conceived by accident when her mother's gynecologist messed up their schedule and impregnated Jinx instead of inserting an IUD. Jinx used the settlement from suing the clinic to invest in her company. She also doesn't know who the sperm donor is, but that information will be coming to light later on in the story.

Jinx does what she can to keep Isha out of the public eye, for her own safety and to try and give her a somewhat normal childhood.

Isha absolutely loves her mother, and bugs ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Sevika Wafiya -

Sevika was a close friend to Felicia during her pregnancy with Jinx, and became Jinx's godmother when she was born.

She has been by Jinx's side her whole life, and they act more like sisters than mother and daughter. They are constantly butting heads. However, when Jinx needs advice or needs help cleaning up a mess, Sevika is who she'll go to.

When Jinx started her business, Sevika was the one to step in and help her get it up and running.

Her role in the company now is basically as a Jack of all trades. She runs the security in Jinx Industries, steps in and fills in for Jinx when Jinx isn't available such as when she doesn't turn up to claim an award or just decides to skip an important interview, and keeps things running smoothly alongside Lux.

When Jinx went missing, she organized for Isha to be sent to her family for safekeeping and got to work making sure that some of the more greedy board members didn't take Jinx's absence as an opportunity to grab the CEO seat.

She is loyal to Jinx.

Yasuo Hiraoka (I don't know Yasuo's full name in LoL, so I came up with one myself) -

Yasuo is Isha's personal bodyguard, Jinx hired him after a kidnapping attempt when Isha was four. Jinx and Sevika didn't play around with Isha's safety and sought out a former assassin to keep the little girl safe.

Yasuo is a very patient man and has developed a mild obsession with Animal Crossing. He and Isha play together often.

He is extremely protective of Isha.

Luxanna Crownsguard -

Lux is Jinx's personal assistant, she basically plays the role of Pepper Potts but isn't a romantic interest. Her and Jinx are best friends, and she is Isha's godmother.

Lux was disowned by her family for being an Inhuman and was given a job by Jinx, she takes her duties seriously and is one of the only people who can handle Jinx.

Vi Kirraman -

Vi is married to Caitlyn, and is a former Enforcer. She quit after a near death experience on the job and realized that she actually really hated her work and wanted to do something different with her life.

She opened her own gym that mostly caters to Enforcers, soldiers, MMA fighters, and so on.

She's currently working from home, due to reasons.

Caitlyn Kirraman -

Caitlyn is the Commander of the Twin City Forces and basically plays the role of Rhodey in this AU, she was previously an Enforcer but transferred over to the Twin City Forces when it was established as a means to draw Zaun and Piltover closer together.

She works quite a bit with Jinx, they used to be at each others throats but have somehow managed to form a solid friendship over the years. Caitlyn is Jinx's only real connection to the rest of her family.

She is career-driven and a bit of a workaholic but tries to make time for her family as they are extremely important to her.

When Jinx goes missing, she jumps right into action and is determined to bring her sister-in-law home to her family.

Mylo Lanes -

Owns several businesses in fashion, locksmithing, and even a dive bar.

He is currently single but is in the process of courting Gert, a DJ who works closely with The Chemical Sisters.

Claggor Lanes -

Is a botanist, who is working on improving Zaun's air quality using plants (much like his S2E7 AU self). He works closely with Ekko.

Claggor has his own daughter, named Cleo who is four-years-old. Cleo's mother is Sona Buvelle (I read a Star Guardians fic once where her and Claggor were sweet on each other, and just had to get them together for this one <3).

Sona Buvelle -

Is a virtuoso, and Inhuman. Who is engaged to Claggor Lanes, who she shares a four-year-old daughter with. She plays in the Piltover Grand Orchestre, on the high harp and grand piano, and is well renowned for her beautiful music.

Ekko Bennett -

Is Jinx's ex-best friend and ex-lover, they were never actually official but were close enough. They had a falling out due to miscommunication, and some meddling from Ekko's birth parents who thought knew what was best for their son, despite not being very present in his life. Due to this meddling, Ekko and Jinx had a falling out resulting in Jinx moving overseas, to Bilgewater, and cutting contact with Ekko.

When Ekko found out about the meddling he cut contact with his parents, and tried to get in contact with Jinx but it was too late.

He threw himself into his work in physics, engineering, and bio-engineering. He works tirelessly to improve the environmental status of Zaun with Claggor, and spends a lot of his free time working with the community and following Jinx's work even though he doesn't approve of her weapons manufacturing.

He suspects that Isha might be his daughter, and is pissed with Jinx for keeping him away.

There's still a bit more world-building to be done, but here are a few things to keep in mind:

The AU is set in Runetrra not Earth

Yordles, Vasteyans, Chireans, and other magical beings in LoL are citizens

Magic is a thing, but it isn't commercialized

Hex-Tech is a controversial technology

Piltover and Zaun are separate states but Piltover is constantly working on trying to merge with Zaun again

And, Vander and Silco's relationship is a great big question mark to everyone, they keep calling each other brothers but live together and raise four kids together and are always touchy-feely.

Anyhoo, this is what I have so far. I tried not to give away to much here because I want to leave some mystery for the actual story.

PPG headcanons/plotbunnies townie and villain edition (non-crossover)

Mr. Green and Ms. Keane live in the same apartment complex. They meet after Keane's breakup in "Keen on Keane" when Green notices that Keane seems upset at the mail center. They start talking and--what a coincidence they both love kids!! A few episodes later Ms. Keane catches a nasty illness from amoeba-tainted oranges after "Divide and Conquer" and the only person she trusts to watch over her beloved class in "Substitute Creature" is Mr. Green. A few years later they get married and have halflings who help the new generation in Townsville stomach monster integration.

Robin's parents divorce not long after Super Friends and she blames herself because they are verbally abusive. They have split custody so Robin is only the Utoniums' neighbor every other week. She has an emo phase in middle school and cuts her hair short. Inspiration: the couple her parents were based on divorced IRL and she knows she's "an accident".

Following from previous, in high school Bubbles and Robin become girlfriends, Bubbles is the one who confesses first.

Buttercup taught Ace how to play bass during some never-made episode where the girls teach them to play instruments as part of a rehabilitation effort after Aspirations. ("If you want to meet girls, why don't you guys start a band?") The gang goes on to form a ska band with Snake on guitar, Ace on bass, Billy on drums, Arturo on trumpet (which he already knew how to play somehow) and Grubber on mic. They eventually split when Ace gets the call from Gorillaz.

Sedusa is Ms. Keane's elder sister. This is the reason Ms. Keane is more sympathetic to monsters and mutants. She doesn't have a lot of time between grading homework to keep up with supervillain activity, so she doesn't know half of what Sedusa has done. At some point they meet again and catch up, Sedusa goes low profile after "Aspirations" and leans more into civilian life. The girls don't find out the relation until after leaving Pokey Oaks Kindergarten, at Ms. Keane's wedding to Mr. Green.

Bubbles stays in touch with Wuzzy after "Roughin' It Up" and learns more about the forest and the Lumpkins clan from him. She even dates Wuzzy for a while and has a farmgirl phase, buying vegan leather cowboy boots that she wears into adulthood. This all helps her connect with and befriend Fuzzy himself, who learns to be more accepting through her. LOOK HOW CUTE THO:

Mojo Jojo ages very slowly due to his Chemical X mutation. His specific fixation on Blossom culminates in his focus shifting to either converting or dating her rather than destroying her (something he comes to understand as impossible). Even he doesn't know what he wants and has a lot of anguish over how he feels about her. Blossom's willing to be friends if he stops busting the city up, but she's never telling him that.

The Rowdyruff boys grow into manchildren and start "The Ruffcast", a manosphere podcast/youtube where they do nothing but play videogames, pump iron and complain about the Powerpuff Girls being too smart, too fat, and not feminine enough. Mitch Mitchelson gets roped in as the camera guy and occasional participant, which makes Buttercup dump him.

Princess Morbucks goes from wanting to be a Powerpuff Girl to just wanting to be a team leader. She recruits/buys her own team of girls to suit up and boss around, and this becomes a high-turnover job position for desperate people. Every other time the girls meet Princess, her lackeys are different. Daddy eventually disowns her not for being a villain but for being a tabloid magnet in college, forcing her to start over with nothing. One last ditch effort leads her to public records, and searching for any extended family to appeal to, she discovers her birth mother is Sara Bellum [A lesbian who used to be Morbucks' secretary--she loves Mayor because he's a harmless decent man who helped her escape that situation by hiring her]. Bellum takes her in, reluctantly, but she is totally immune to manipulation and sets her straight.

Ms. Bellum eventually runs for Mayor of Townsville and wins. Mayor Mayor retires to Pokey Oaks senior center. The girls visit him often and occasionally consult him for info about Townsville's history if needed--it's much easier for him to remember things from a long time ago, he's not so good with the day-to-day stuff. Bubbles volunteers there with Bullet, who opens Mayor's pickle jars when the nurses can't.

Harry Pitt running gag: Getting referenced as being in juvie and then prison, but it's never stated what he did. We know what he's in for, but the other characters never say.

Lazari and Stripes are stepsisters but they don't get along very well.

Jeff and Liu are brothers and they still love each other no matter what.

Sully is Liu's younger twin brother. While Sully still loves his older twin, Liu doesn't like Sully as he used to due to him finding out how cruel he was towards Jeff.

Jeff is Sully's younger brother. While Jeff somewhat still loves his older brother even though he was one of the main reasons he would snap, Sully basically has disowned Jeff by now. Sully even wishes Jeff would go to hell for killing their parents and even calls him "a curse to the family".

Dawn is the Woods' only sister. She and Sully used to be close but now they're estranged after Sully got Dawn kicked out of the Jeff Hunters. Dawn has a complicated relationship with Jeff due to Jeff nearly killing her (even though it wasn't his fault he snapped). She is still close with Liu and often tells Liu that they should just quit the Slender Pact and get out of town.

Eyeless Jack and Lulu are siblings (even though neither of them are aware of it).

Lauren is Vailly's cousin.

Family Bonds (not blood related):

Sally and Ben have a sister-brother like relationship.

Puppeteer and Emra are Sadie's and Zero's adoptive parents, making Sadie and Zero adoptive siblings.

Nina thinks of Jeff as her second little brother (she has known Jeff ever since Jeff was basically in diapers) and she thinks Liu as her older brother. Jeff affectionately calls Nina "Ni" as a result. Liu would sometimes call Nina "little sister".

CR and Kate have a sibling bond ever since they met in elementary school.

Lulu, Sally (I forgot to put her line there my mistake), Ben, and Dollmaker (she is a teenager in my AU) all think Jeff as their big brother and they love to play with him.

Vailly, Lauren, X-Virus, and Chris basically think of Jeff as the little brother they never got.

Nurse Ann is Dollmaker's adoptive mother.

Liu thinks of Ben and Sally as his younger siblings and would sometimes like to play with them.

Toby and Cody have a brotherly bond.

Sally and Nina are adoptive siblings though they have that love-hate relationship.

Lazari and Lulu used to have a sisterly bond but ever since Lazari left to go work for her father, they haven't been as close as they were before.

Chris has a one-sided best friendship with Lauren.

Vailly and Liu are close friends and they love to work with each other.

Zero and Roadwalker are close friends because Roadwalker is Zero's future sister-in-law.

SHE'S SO CUTE! inspiration struck and she poofed into existence i love her sm <3 i think i'm naming her renna! stormlight sona kinda?? at least her features are based off of me :D (wish i had cool eyebrows) backstory + id under the cut!

renna is half thaylen and half herdazian! her dad is a traveling merchant and while he was traveling he met this girl in thaylenah. they fell deeply in love and wanted to get married, but her parents wouldn't let her marry some rando merchant, so they got married in secret and they had her!

him being a traveling merchant and all, he only got to see his wife for a few months, not able to meet his baby daughter until awhile later. he went on, continuing his trade route, and after a year he was finally was able to come back to thaylenah to meet renna, who was about seven months old at the time. he found his wife living with her closest friend, as when her parents learned she was pregnant and had eloped with him, they pretty much disowned her and kicked her out.

he lived with her and her friend till renna was about two, both the proud parents of the adorable kiddo, till his saved up money was about gone. he got all packed up and ready to continue his job as a traveling merchant, but claiming she had to stay in thaylenah his wife stayed, giving him their daughter to raise.

he raised her on the sea, traveling from place to place and only staying for a few months in each area. renna does know her mother from when they stay in thaylenah, but they aren't super close. they do both love each other though, and she can tell that her parents love each other as well.

now about renna! she's super fun and quirky, with an upbeat personality. she's sixteen and loooves reading and sailing, though she dreams to settle down one day and have a family of her own, but she wishes her kids to have parents always present in their lives. she secretly dreams to be a scholar as well, though her father doesn't make enough money for her to be able to go to a good school. in her free time she paints, gardens, or has her nose stuck in a new book of fairy tales. she's also super outgoing and loves making new friends! she has at least five in every place she's ever visited, and is always excited when they go somewhere new or somewhere she hasn't been in awhile so she can catch up with her friends and make more of them!

now onto her outfit inspo!! i used the stormlight rpg character creator to look through all the details on the different races before deciding that i'd be either thaylen or herdazian due to my physical features, and her physical features are literally me, while her outfit is a mixmash of thaylen and herdazian fashion. the details and the sleeves on her dress are based off of the thaylen fashion folio in words of radiance (i believe?) and the dress+corset are based on like those cute medieval western dresses that girls wear in taverns and stuff idk i just googled it lol. it's supposed to be ranch vibes because that's what the herdazians wear.

because today is @seemoreseymoursbay minor and one-off character day i thought that i would share some of my thoughts and analysis on lily's younger brother ernest lombard. since he is a one-off character from season three and i have thought about him more than ANYBODY else in this fandom and that's a promise lol

he's five years younger than lily and alice got pregnant w/ him after billy returned from the war and they were kinda having a honeymoon 2.0 phase since she was so happy her husband was alive and safe. he was born in 1946

lily was VERY protective of her baby brother. he got picked on a lot by the neighborhood kids bcuz he was nerdy and kinda weak/feminine but because lily was older and not afraid of ANYTHING she would stand up for him against everybody at school and in their neighborhood. very louise and gene vibes in that sense (except lily actually is older than ernest lmao)

only alice and lily (and later bob when was born) called him ernie/uncle ernie. he did NOT like being compared to the sesame street character especially when he was a teenager. HE IS NOT A MUPPET >:(

he was more nerdy and shy/sensitive and kept to himself. not many friends outside of his sister and he mostly spent his childhood reading comic books and playing by himself in his bedroom. his parents were very understanding and supportive of him since they were both pretty progressive for their time in terms of gender roles

he LOVED superhero comics when he was a kid. still a secret passion of his as an adult and he collected them

he was devastated when his older sister moved away from home especially because he was going through his angsty high school years and he really needed her. they still phoned each other and wrote letters everyday and lily would visit when she was able <3

he was gay and it was really tough for him growing up in the 1950s and 60s with homosexuality not even being legalized. his family was as supportive as could possibly be expected for the time period (they didnt disown or abuse him) and lily didn't think any different of him when he told her (but she told him to kinda keep it on the down low for his safety) fortunately he lived in new york city so there was a bit of a community for him

he had a long term boyfriend throughout the 70s and 80s but unfortunately he died from aids/hiv during the crisis :( ernest never got into another relationship after that and that's why he died single with no kids. he also lost a lot of friendships it was really hard. poor guy!!!

never got along w/ big bob as he always felt that he was too cold/unloving/didnt talk enough and that he was stealing ernest's older sister from him (they started dating when ernest was like..... 14 so that teenage angst was expected) big bob would never be good enough for lily in his mind

he moved to new jersey with his bf when they were in their late 20s to be closer to lily & bob which is where he stayed until he died

he LOVED being an uncle and thought bob was so cute and funny and reminded him so much of himself at bob's age. absolutely adored the kid. unfortunately he stopped coming around as much when lily got sick so bob doesn't have too many memories of him :(

lily's death was really hard for him and he basically stopped talking to bob and big bob entirely after she died bcuz the reminder was too painful. bob tried to stay in contact but he was also a teenager so they just kinda..... fell out of touch. they hadn't talked in years when ernest died

he was always very empathetic and understanding towards people seen as different/unwanted by society due to being gay himself so he had a lot of sympathy and always tried to support homeless people drug addicts and the mentally ill etc. our differences do not define us type guy. he volunteered a lot at the homeless shelters after he retired and that's part of why he let chet stay in his storage unit for all those years (although chet actually WAS a seasonal employee at his department store) he felt real deep love and empathy for him </3 also protested the vietnam war with his big sis. very anti-racism compared to what was expected of white people at the time

always very quiet and socially awkward. it is true that bob got a lot of his personality from big bob but he got an equal amount from ernest tbh he just never knew him well enough to realize that about himself

tina also shares a lot of traits w/ ernest and had they known each other when he was alive i think they would have gotten along really well. he would have loved her erotic friend fiction and he actually wrote his own superhero comic fanfiction before that was an actual thing that ppl had a word for

he died of a heart attack in his 60s and nobody even found his body for a few days. his later years were very lonely

Beyhan serves as a counterpoint to her sisters not just in terms of what she's initially bound to set up (to Hatice) and her relationships with others (to Şah), but most of all in terms of how she seeks agency: while all the other sisters search for agency outside of the system, rebelling in some way [yes, even Şah's (both political and personal) ambition that (especially political) goes against "the dynasty values" of protection of peace and order by sheer design even if it runs in conjunction with the protection, like it is with Şah more or less, having a chance to realize ambition due to an emerging motive of protection. Şah respecting Hürrem's ambition, at first, is also unique to her], Beyhan finds comfort completely within the system. Even when everything is taken away from her and she isn't willing to be around anyone, for they'll only remind her of her pain, the most she can do is self-exile, returning to her one place of refuge, retreating to heal and leaning on what she has left — her home and her children, striving to move on "with time" as she can't do anything else otherwise (the damage is done, so what would the difference be? They, these killers, will stand there and move on with their lives anyway. She can symbolically disown only her familial ties with them as she did with SS, but their will is and stays absolute. They're ignorant and content, they know no one is there to oppose this, to bring it to an end, and it's namely this they even almost relish in, so who could stop them? Not Beyhan, who was entirely pluntered and overpowered by them without even realizing it until what's done is done. What if she loses something else if she ever stands against them in more direct ways?); if "moving on with time" can ever be possible, that is. And it turns out it sort of is, but also isn't for Beyhan: her pain is dulled, but never forgotten. It resurfaces with the hint of that previous similar intensity when it's reignited again. And there are some loved ones left, but she still bears it alone, not being able to tell anyone about the full extent of her suffering. Because she has to be strong for these people, lest something happens to them again. She has to get used to the circumstances dictated for her, she has to endure as it's her last piece of comfort.

Since even though her marriage is arranged (Süleiman called Ferhat Pasha "the son-in-law Hafsa is so proud of" in E14; Şah's E99 speech also points at the marriages other than Hatice's with Ibrahim being arranged) and possibly even loveless at first, she has apparently made the best of it and clung to it to the fullest, entirely satisfied (a parallel with Gevherhan from MCK, as well), while all the other sisters sure can be complacent due to the powerlessness they feel against the unfortunate circumstances they constantly happen to be put in, but they still yearn for more and indulge in it, albeit for the short moments when no one is watching (Hatice), becoming capable of even demanding it at some point when encouraged by more positive circumstances instead (Hatice) or outright becoming fed up of everything (Şah, Fatma), getting rid of it either by working around it (Şah with Lütfi, it's implied that she didn't ""neglect her duties"" inititally, her ""neglecting them"" is her only means of rebellion, while also fueling her own ambition most of all, along with Lütfi's), or simply removing it from the roots (Fatma by poisoning her pedo husband). It's also telling that all the rest of the sisters have at some point come to the castle to "protect" the dynasty in some way. While Beyhan comes to view what Hürrem does as threatening as well (S03), she doesn't step up to act herself. She wants, insists for Şah to act (still, she sees Hürrem as a threat especially because of what she supposedly did to Hatice, who Beyhan has actually started relating to herself already due to Ibrahim's execution; she's finally found someone to relate to and yet, she too needs that strength, someone to be near her, but both of them can't act as they're still in fresh or dwindled pain, so Şah is the one who has to as she posits herself as so different, lest even more losses occur), but that's as far as it gets. Beyhan thinks Şah is prioritizing her own comfort, because this is exactly what she herself does (and of course Şah has to be alright with "doing nothing", she doesn't get either Beyhan or Hatice, she doesn't care about Hatice, about any of them in Beyhan's eyes, so she must be on the opposing end by default; Beyhan doesn't get her either, probably doesn't even want to get her, judging by what she has seen from her in the past). Beyhan is the one who fully lacks that internal layer of selflessness the other sisters have to their motivations, no matter how supportive to her family's struggles she can be regardless (and precisely this is her biggest contrast with Fatma - even if Fatma is the most rebellious sister, she emerges as the most selfless one as she came to the harem merely because of a promise to Mustafa and that promise fueled her until the very end, even at her most desperate).

Beyhan's allegedly good family life with Ferhat Pasha and her kids is the model this whole system strives towards when it comes to the role of the dynasty sisters: the typical arranged marriage, the family that's built with it, the reigning "stasis" in a seperate castle, with the sister coming to the capital only occasionally and to visit, not to interfere too extensively in matters, even her safeguarding her marriage and its last remains is expected. But that life, that peace and calm, is what the other sisters also strived towards at least for a while, but with the undoubtable personal fulfillment attached to it, which they can't have just with what's being offered them, so they try to gain this life model through other means, in a way that pleases them, and when the "greater word/law" gets in the way when they've already passed a certain threshold, they let go of that "ideal" entirely, of the system itself to an extent, without giving in. Beyhan never once moves away from her role, embodying it perfectly even in her rebellion, but this has to be the case in order for her to pave the way for the rest of her sisters. Even the usual dynamics have to be broken in usual ways in order for the unusual to come next and take over.

Oh man, now THAT'S a tough question... let's round up a few of the top competitors, and you can decide which is the most traumatic:

Ophelia: Grew up in a stable household with a loving family, but was forced to watch nearly every single member of that family die in a series of superpowered events. First it was Norman, who she viewed as an uncle or perhaps even a third parent in her life. Then it was her mother, then her father, then the man she saw as her brother. She got herself through college and graduate school but failed to maintain a healthy social life as she became utterly absorbed by her work. Her attempts at romance all failed due to her lack of emotional vulnerability and work/life balance, and the one partner she thought she'd stay with was killed in her sleep by a supervillain. Finally, she was killed in a laboratory explosion, and sent into the multiverse without knowing whether or not she would survive upon returning.

Gia: Watched her younger sister die of childhood leukemia. Entered a medical study hoping to prevent future cases of childhood cancer, which turned out to be a front for HYDRA. Was imprisoned and experimented on by HYDRA, had her life force irreversibly bound to a patch of clover, had her leg cut off, and was trained to be a supersoldier. Most of this was so traumatic that she doesn't even remember it. Came out of HYDRA incredibly traumatized and depressed, and had to pry herself out of that entirely on her own as she couldn't bear to come clean to her family.

Quinn: Was disowned by her parents after coming out as transgender, had to drop out of college due to losing their financial support, ended up at her lowest in an alleyway. Joined a parkour/thieving crew, met her best friend and love of her life while he was dating another woman, that other woman grew jealous and dropped them both off a twelve-story building during a botched mission. Sustained damage to her legs, pelvis, lumbar vertebrae, and brain in the fall, now lives with mobility issues, chronic fatigue, and hallucinations. Also had to recover on her own, all while believing her lover had died in the fall.

Eris: Was treated as a monster by others on Themyscira after his violent streak first showed itself. Was deemed a harbinger of strife and violence rather than being given support for their issues, was cold-shouldered from their family and everyone else around them, while those others refused to even use her given name. Eventually left, and spent close to a thousand years wandering the Earth, always following the biggest wars and battles. Had to watch each of their rare friends and even rarer lovers die as his regeneration kept him alive for hundreds of years.

Nikoletta: Grew up impoverished in New Orleans, though it was a reasonably stable life until her father passed away when she was a teenager. Left alone, she began running a voodoo scam for gullible tourists to keep herself afloat as she got herself through high school. After continuing this scam into her adulthood, she was captured by STAR Labs and infused with liquid shadows through a series of painful treatments. After a month in the lab, she returned to the streets, only to be captured and sent to Belle Reve for superpower-assisted B&E in multiple houses. She escaped once, but it was only a matter of months before she was captured again, this time for "disfiguring" several civilians with her shadow-touch. From there, she spent 15 years in prison, crafting an icy and reclusive persona known as the Queen of Belle Reve as a means of keeping herself safe.

Vivienne: Met her first husband, a sea captain, while he was at port between trips. Due to the nature of romance during her time period, it wasn't until after marriage that she discovered that he was a coarse, unfaithful, and abusive man, and she could not divorce him due to societal taboo and a lack of evidence for that abuse. He taught her to sail and often took her with him (as an extra crewmate that he wouldn't have to pay) on his ventures. While at port one night, she discovered him cheating on her with multiple other women, and intended to confront him the following morning. Instead, her husband waited until they were far out at sea, then tossed her overboard and left her to drown. Instead, Poseidon took pity on it, and turned it into a siren in exchange for never again giving its heart to a captain of the sea. This in itself becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy - while it does find love and marry another sailor, this one man who loves her and treats her right, he dies before he officially becomes the captain of his ship.

Thinking about how tragic Gabby is. She hates her face and her body and has for years due to what a disowned family member did to her when she was little. She can't stand looking in the mirror because all she can see is what he liked about her, she can't even look at photos of her face without feeling bad about herself. She can't stand being alone in darkness as it's a trauma for her. Her parents and sister have done all they can to make her comfortable in her own home again by covering mirrors when they aren't using them and getting nightlights for the whole house as well as Luna and Gabby sharing a room so Gabby doesn't have to be alone. They've covered Gabby's face in all of their family photos with little sticky notes so she doesn't feel bad. Despite her family reassuring her that she isn't a burden on them, Gabby can't help but feel that way. Gabby has started therapy somewhat recently but is still far from being comfortable in her own skin again

Poor girl. Hope her family and friends can make her feel better again

I RARELY see people tackle potential parents for Daiya and Mondo, so here they are!

I imagine Cassie met Hideo when she was in high school, but Hideo was a lot older than her. Regardless of that they hit it off fairly well, but things started to sour once Daiya was born. Hideo was a more distant father and refused to run his family's motor business beyond riding a motorcycle, so he refused to take any jobs while Cassie was left jumping from position to position. Despite that, I think Daiya still really looked up to Hideo as this cool mysterious figure. Whenever they'd talk it'd be about manly shit. And bikes. So it was all the more traumatizing when he fucked off a few months into Cassie's second pregnancy. Daiya was 7. I picked the name Hideo because its meanings both fit him, and are DEEPLY ironic (excellent, fine/outstanding, hero, manly, husband, and man). It was just too perfect.

Cassie's dad studied abroad in Canada for a while, and while he was there he met the woman who would be his wife. She didn't have much family left in Canada, so they moved back to Japan shortly after Cassie turned 3. I think their relationship was far more loving and they both gave Cassie their all, but they pressured her in her schoolwork and her relationships, and that began to dominate over their love for her. I think Hideo led them to disown her due to the path she went down after meeting him. She was starting to reach her boiling point with him, but after he left, she couldn’t take it anymore. It was the straw that broke the camel's back, and Cassie began to take it out onto Daiya shortly after Mondo was born in a combination of anger and stress. She was never violent with him and broke down crying more often than not, but she still heavily pressured Daiya into becoming a better man than Hideo was and getting frustrated whenever he or his interests were mentioned.

Daiya ran away when he was only around 12, and Mondo was 4. It was impulsive and remained incredibly complicated until he died. A lot of Hideo and Cassie's personality still stuck with Daiya despite everything, and some of their teachings were passed down to Mondo (Did I base most of Cassie and Hideo on that one line of dialogue in the Ch1 investigation? Yes). Mondo doesn't really know what either of them look like aside from fuzzy memories of Cassie, but I do think that they know who Mondo is all too well. Hideo mostly doesn't care, but I think that time spent alone made Cassie feel like she could've given them so much more. She wants to reconnect with Mondo, especially after Daiya's death, but she has no clue how to do that, so in the end she just never even tries.

Design wise I wanted to make it clear that Hideo is. Kinda a scumbag? I don't think Cassie ever finds this out, but he's absolutely cheated on her at least once. Very real chance that Daiya and Mondo have some siblings out there that they don't know about. I also wanted him to be a pretty big influence on Daiya's style of dress, hence the hair being similar to a pompadour.

Cassie was designed to have a lot of features that'd be considered charming. She's got the big ol' doe eyes with subtle heterochromia, she's got freckles, a cute little nose, a rounder facial shape, etc. and etc. Like if i designed how she looked in high school before she entered her deeply problematic relationship, she would have to look really sweet and cute.

I'm a big fan of the idea that the orange part of Mondo's hair is actually the natural part, and it grew back out after she dyed her hair to look more like Daiya's, so she started to use that part for the pompadour instead. She also got Hideo's eye colour and pupil shape, nearly his exact skin tone, his nose, and Cassie's slightly rounder face shape, albeit a bit taller.

Daiya got a very similar hair colour to Hideo, nearly his exact facial structure, a mixture of both Cassie and Hideo's skin tones, Cassie's freckles, her big ol doe eyes plus their hazel colour, and her nose.

Do you have any headcanons about Diaspro and why she ended up being the way she is ?

Oh boy do I have Diaspro thoughts!

And I have been using them while I write my AUs.

First of all: Diaspro isn't an only child, she has an older brother who is also being tormented by their overbearing parents.

(He's gay and his parents are very traditional, or at least, they're practically pushing him to marry and have children with a woman, but he can have *secret affairs* with men if he is so desperate for that.)

Back when they were kids, they would try to protect each other from their parents by pissing them off when they would go after the other sibling for something they did "wrong".

(Like poor Diaspro was constantly being taught by her mother and the other women of the Isis court how to "act" and "behave" and "look". Her looks were her most important thing, she needed to stay quiet. She also needed to learn how to "properly speak" to "get what she wants" done.)

(Manipulation basically that plays up to male ego.)

Of course, once Diaspro and her brother reached certain ages: 12 and 11, they were separated to truly begin their grooming.

Jasper was sent off to boarding school to learn to be a proper wizard and hopefully a proper prince. (What his dad doesn't know about his time at Coventry won't hurt him, and he knows Nabu won't say anything.)

Unfortunately that meant Diaspro was left alone with their parents and her own teachers. She was taught she had to be "perfect" in looks, brains (even though she was also taught to purposefully downplay her intelligence), and grace.

She's a princess, right? She has to be everything and more.

Her parents engaged her to their longtime friends' son, Prince Sky. Which wasn't bad, he was nice though kind of naive due to his own upbringing. But he'd do, especially since Eraklyon is such an important realm.

(Her mother made it very clear that if things didn't go right with her engagement and marriage to Sky, she'd be considered nothing more than a waste of air and her family would disown her in every way but publicly.)

(Meaning she'd be allowed to live at the castle and show up to events, but for the most part, she'd be just another servant girl.)

(Which is why she gets so wrapped up in "wanting" Sky. She doesn't care about him, she cares about not being cast aside.)

This is why during the first three seasons, she (and her mother) plot to keep Bloom and Sky separated and to cause trouble. Hell, her own mother even arranged for her to be kidnapped in hopes of sparking things between them.

And of course we know that Diaspro accepted help from Valtor.

(It was also during this time that her parents essentially helped her keep Sky away from his own so they couldn't tell that Sky was... Not quite Sky. Just until after their wedding.)

(Jasper however, wasn't part of this and did his best to help Brandon and Sky behind the scenes. His parents aren't happy with him, but they know they can't say anything since it all went public about Diaspro's "obsession" without admitting their own parts in it.)

(Yes they threw their own daughter under the bus when it all came out. "We have no idea what happened! We were spelled too!"

All of this has pushed Diaspro so far, and she's so tired of coming in last place.

So she has a new plan: she's going to help the Ancestral Coven take over the Magical Dimension and she's going to destroy her family and takeover Isis as her own realm.

If she can't be a queen any other way, she'll force it. (And okay, maybe she won't destroy her brother, but she will make it known he can't return to Isis without potentially getting himself killed.)

Separate thought from my last ask!! knowing that Filbrick is positively disgusted by the twins. I'm imagining that it's kind of like a Hogwarts type situation where the kids can stay for breaks (I don't think every kids family would be as kind about their mutations). Stan and Ford would probably stay, because yikes, if their dad was abusive to them before I can only imagine what he's like when their mutations develop. Fidds and Angie probably ask them what their plans are for winter break and they avoid that topic like the PLAGUE. As soon as they find out though they are DRAGGING their asses back home with them. (also, sorry if all of these asks ever get annoying alkjdjksd)

Oh yes! It's a year-round boarding school in which students can choose to stay during the summer or during other traditional school breaks. There are multiple students whose families fully disowned them as a result of their powers, and as such, those teens don't have anywhere to go. So they stay at the school. Jimmy Snakes (the ringleader of the bad crowd Stan falls in with) is one of those kids.

And yeah, Stan and Ford stay year-round. Once they get better control over their abilities, Ma Pines tries to convince them to at least visit for a few days, because she misses her boys so much. But they refuse every time. Ford's not opposed to returning to Glass Shard Beach eventually (though he doubts he'll live there as an adult), but after the way Filbrick looked at him when his power manifested, he doesn't want to live with that man anymore. Stan just flat-out doesn't want to go back to Glass Shard Beach. He's still humiliated and devastated by the way his power showed up in the middle of school.

Fidds goes home during school breaks, certainly. Angie, when she arrives, stays at the school, however. She hasn't gotten much control over her power if any, and the McGuckets don't want her to hurt herself or others if she loses control at the farm. Also, it hasn't been long enough for people to forget the height she was when she left. She was unconsciously using her power to make herself taller back home, and no one back home knows about it. Which the McGuckets want to keep up. Not because they're ashamed of her, but because they don't want anyone to treat her poorly. As far as the folks in Gumption know, Angie was sent to a special boarding school due to her difficulties in school despite her high intelligence. Eventually, she's able to return home for breaks, but that takes a year or two.

But yes. Angie and Fidds do politely ask Ford (and Stan, once he has his character development and stops being a bully) whether they'll be returning to New Jersey for holiday breaks. And the boys dodge the question every time.

And yes, like you said, once the McGucket sibs get a straight answer out of Stan and Ford, they insist the boys spend some vacation time in Gumption. Stan and Ford shouldn't have to spend their school breaks still at school. And the boys quickly learn that the McGuckets are determined to host them. No matter what, those boys are gonna get some home-cooked food and quality family time.

Maester Aemond AU (1/2)

Well, after Evan's interview about how Aemond could end up being a Maester in Grand Sept gave me some power to post this old AU in my head about how Aemond could be if he stayed in Old Town.

- Start with how the Pink Dread incident ended up differently, that both Velaryon boys got scared after Aemond was mad with their prank, thus their dragons acted on their protective instinct haphazardly to eliminate the threat.

- Fortunately, Vermax and Arrax were still young dragon so their claws and fires can only injured their master's uncle, not claimed his life. This is merely an unfortunate event in the King's opinion, and those boys didn't need to hold any consequences. Alicent or Rheanyra didn't know the details about how Aemond got injured in the Dragon pit.

- Viserys agreed with Alicent that his second son's obsession with dragon must be stopped, let him be dragonless is better than being burnt to death next time. We're gonna send him to Old Town. (Yes, so they brought Daeron with Tessarion back)

- This is an unofficial disown, huh? Aemond wake up painfully with his arm in bandage and the news that you will be send to Oldtown in a couple of days.

'Dragonless and troublesome second son like me has no place in the godlike Targaryen family. I know that father doesn't love me, but now I just realized that Mother doesn't want me too.'

- His uncle wanted him to be a cupbearer or squire at first, but Aemond requested to admit into the Citadel instead. Since his arm still had some chronic hurt.

- He did quite well with his nerdy life there. Got a few friends from The Reach and Dorne. In less than 5 years he got several chains, his expertise was healing art but he hated Astrology.

- Laena still died, but since Aemond didn't be there so the funeral did happen smoothly. No conflict.

- So, Rheanyra didn't go paranoid with how the green got the biggest Westerosi flying nuclear like Old Granny Vhagar.

- So, she still did keep her marriage with Laenor. No Daemyra marriage here. (Harwin still died like before)

- Sorry Rheana, but grampy old granny didn't like you. She tried to claim Vhagar but ended up nearly dying from fire. Due to his daughter's injury, Daemon was a good dad here. He stayed with Rheana and oversee her recuperating with Baela in Pentos (or high tide).

- Aegon married Haelana like before, but Aemond could not come back to the ceremony since he joined Citadel field trip to Volantis and Yiti. Learned about Eastern Healing art like Chinese-yiti medication and acupuncture. A year later, he returned to Citadel and got his second silver link. He used an alias after getting famous, got many healing appointments with southern houses. Little silver hair healer.

- When he was 16, got kidnapped by some pirate from Pyke along with his Martell friend and the third son of Tarly.

- they demanded a ransom of gold equal to Aemond's weight. But after the letter reached King's Landing, the king and the hand thought it was a lie. So they replied to the letter saying that we would not pay. If that boy was so stupid that he could not take care of himself. You can keep him for yourself. The court had no money for such worthless people, maybe this attached one single silver coin was enough.

- No response from Old Town too because they also believe it's a fake.

- those pirates read the answer to Aemond. That is the moment that he truly realized how worthless he was in the eyes of his family.

- unfortunately, before they decided to throw him away in the sea, some plague widely spread in the area and yes, they needed a doctor. And that is how he met and made an acquaintance with Dalton Grayjoy.

- Aemond was released shortly after because his noble friend from Dorne paid the ransom for him.

- working like a dog to pay off his debt.

- invented some sort of westerosi-penicillin because he noticed that some area on the plagued corpse looked better if it made contact with *this* certain mold. This was a really breakthrough medical invention, but he is still a prick. He kept the extraction method secret to himself. Got third silver link and a ton of money.

- 18 year olds, was invited to Bravos and needed to travel through KL during Jace's birthday. He saw how Viserys splashed out a shit ton of money on this occasion. Even the prize for tourney winner was more than his ransom price that year. He asked his companion to help him shave off his hair, no more silver. He hated every Targaryen element on his body.

- He needed only one or two more chains to graduate and be an official maester. He wanted to discard his surname as soon as possible. Many houses already competed to get his service in advance.

- Somehow, his uncle just had known about his unfortunate experience in Pyke, and relayed it to his mother as well. Alicent wanted to apologize to her son so she called him back on the pretext that Rheanyra was about to give birth to her 4th children and we hadn't seen you for a decade.

- Aemond: wtf they need me to do......

- When he arrived Red keep, because his nearly baldhead and sloppy and old acolyte outfit, he was greeted without intending to be insulted by his nemesis nephews, "Are you a new servant?"

- well, that was a great motivation to stay outside until his sister finished her labor. He went to do some part-time job with healer guild in the city that night. (some knights that known Aemond since he was young was chosen to be his escort)

- Both Jace and Luke wanted to apologize to their uncle after some Kingguard told them that guy is Aemond, but they can't find him and the maester just informed them that the crown princess will have her labor tonight.

- The escort knights were astonished with the second prince ability, it's like a god work. Especially looking at his skill that handled complicated childbirths safely. They're about to celebrate with the guild personnel and the newly mother family but they were told to return to the keep immediately. Princess Rheanyra passed away while giving birth.
