You cannot even begin to comprehend what happens in cookie run lore
#deepseaphantom#but seriously. every game has its own story#the one you played won't align 1/1 to the one I'm brainrotting about#i dont think kingdom even fully knows where its going#these cookies sure are running#but tldr cookies were baked by the witches. the first cookie iirc became the earthbread that cookies live on#witches are like gods to them#creators#long time passed most cookies don't even remember what they were made for#one of the ancient heroes questions why#fucks around & finds out#splits into her evil self#causes a war#and thats pretty much where the story starts. 495728492 years after the war i GUESS#before the ancient heroes there were also cookies made by the witches and gifted special virtues#to bring cookiekind to prosperity#essentially they were also god-like figures#but they got corrupted with power#their virtues were taken#then found by the ancient heroes#who then built current day kingdoms#and who are now trying to defeat the evil clone of their friend#who caused the war#and now those evil gods are awakening again because of her also#cuz shes cooking up a plan#and every hero is now ascending to godhood when facing their respectful fated enemies who had their virtues originally#gestures aggressively. very abridged

Ahem, if I may impose.... Directors commentary?? đđ
YEAHHH lots to say abt this one
i know rule number one is don't point out the flaws in ur own work but i have to confess. i forgot to add hair highlights to this entire update. i didn't realize until i had already queued up the posts and i could not bear re-exporting and color correcting every page again. so i just let it be. it only kills me a little bit. they rlly add something y'know
i haven't seen a whole lot of comments about this to the point i worry i didn't do a good job of conveying it so: Loft's dream at the beginning is about ganondorf.
Loft has, in fact, chewed his nails to bits.
i'm gonna be so real, part of the delay for this update was bc my brain got so stuck on the logistics of where that damn bookshelf would go
korok bookends :D
i like to think the story of the hero of time is actually mostly an oral tradition on Outset, or at least that's how Gran Gran first told Link and Aryll the stories when they were children.
i worry a little bit about these 'lore recap" updates, bc like. I'm assuming you've played the games, or at least know the gist. but I feel like there's a few stories it's important for us to see Loft's direct reactions to, and the conclusions he draws from them, because it'll be important to his actions later. I try to make up for it by at least making these sections visually interesting HAHA i think this is the last major one though
on that note: I hope this comes across on its own, but Loft finishes Gran Gran's story himself because he's just realized the flood was sent by the gods, and not some external force of evil. he's also realizing that this is not the first time the gods have been willing to wipe the slate clean in the absence of a hero, and that it's actually something of a pattern. it runs up against his idea of how Demise's curse is meant to work. this is one such mystery mouseketool we'll use later.
also on that note: regardless of ganondorf's actions, i find it significant that the gods chose to destroy a man whose people suffered in a droughted desert with,,,,a flood. that thought was the conceit for this update
Loft has seen this play out in his dreams, but obviously doesn't fully know the context. also I'm gonna refer to this version of zelda as Sheik. he uses he/him pronouns thank you :-)
just wanted to show some closeups of the stained glass bc. i worked hard on them HAHA + the grayscale wip
i was really hoping this chapter would be done. last year. it was meant to be a chance to slow down for a second before the plot speeds up đ
but we're nearing the last few updates!! thank you all for bearing with me <3 life has been kind of insane and extremely discouraging irl, so getting to post these updates and seeing you all enjoy them has been a real bright spot <333 special thank you to my patreon supporters bc. seriously it has helped more than you know.
i think that's all ive got for now! see you next time, hopefully sooner than 4-5 business months

Okay, I need to rant. Fuck AI. And I mean seriously. FUCK. A.I. I know Iâm probably preaching to the choir here, but more people need to be talking about this, and thereâs no point in me saying that if Iâm not willing to talk about it too. AI has done nothing but ruin our communities and defile the art that millions of hands have spent millions of hours creating. Fanfiction is a work of passion. Drawing is a work of passion. Voice acting IS A WORK OF PASSION. AI has no passion. It takes the soul out of the things we love and cherish. It steals what we as a collective community have lovingly crafted, and it shatters it to a thousand pieces, spits on it, curses its family, and throws it in a flaming dumpster to be eaten by rats. It is despicable and disgusting.
I won't lie, or pretend Iâm a perfect saint. I myself was a user of Character AI until somewhat recently. And as ashamed as I am to admit that, I feel itâs necessary to own up to my own faults. But after seeing the damage it causes, I canât in good conscience even consider touching that site. Many of us write because it is our passion. Many of us because it is our job. And many of us because it is our *friend*. AI steals the writing of your favorite creators WITHOUT PERMISSION and mashes it together like Frankensteinâs fucked up monster to create storylines that arenât even fucking coherent. Not only that, but Character AI uses whatever you respond to it with to teach itself as well, which means that the company has access to whatever you chat about, and free reign to do whatever they want with it. They also make absurd amounts of money from it, which in comparison, fanfiction writers, who spend countless hours writing stories for our favorite characters, more often than not charge nothing. And the ones who do charge, tend to have reasonable, if not highly lenient prices for their labor.
Which leads me into another side rant. SUPPORT WRITERS THAT YOU LIKE. Itâs really not that hard, it takes two fucking seconds of your time and it makes someone's day. Reblog. Share with your friends. Like. Comment. Just let the writer know that you saw it, and that you liked it. The amount of fanfic writers I have seen get completely discouraged from writing because of lack of engagement is astounding. Iâve seen several posts on Tumblr or Twitter or Bluesky talking about creators that were incredibly popular but never knew it due to lack of engagement is appalling. If you can rant about your love for their work on Discord, you can rant about your love for their work in the comments. Just fucking copy paste it. Tell them how much you love it. Show them support. Especially the ones that donât charge. Because for those of us that donât, our only payment, is your feedback. Even constructive criticism is greatly appreciated by damn near every writer I can think of. Because even that shows that you read it, absorbed it, and thought about it enough to have something to actually say about it.
The same thing goes for artists and voice actors. You see a drawing or animation you enjoy? Comment. Like. Share. You see a character in an anime or a game and you love their voice? Go check out their voice actor, maybe they do some other cool stuff, and you might just discover your new favorite series or streamer. A perfect example is Alejandro Saab. I became a fan of his through his astounding performance in several series dear to me, and lo and behold, heâs also a streamer I enjoy. Same story with Aleks Le, or Ray Chase. Yuri Lowenthal, Lizzie Freeman, Landon Mcdonald, Zeno Robinson, the list goes on. But seriously, itâs not that much effort to just show a little love to the creators you enjoy. The people who breathe life into the seriesâ that we all hold dear. AI does not breathe that life. Using AI, and supporting those companies, will destroy those pillars of our community. And if that happens, the AI would crumble too, it would have no new information to use. SO really, whatâs the benefit? Iâll tell you. There is none.
Stop using AI. All it does is bring harm and slowly kill our community. Itâs disgusting, appalling, and downright fucking egregious.
Thank you for coming to my TedTalk.

BOUND 2 FALLING IN LOVE | HHU
pairing : hhu x reader
WHAT ! - cute tropes that i think make you and the hhu bounded (based on a tiktok trend a while ago)
warnings : relationshippy stuff T-T
s.coups - someone who always speaks up for his beliefs & someone who doesnt speak up for themselves
BOUND 2 FALLING IN LOVE
seungcheol was a stubborn man, once he sets his opinion on something hes not changing his mind until you fully convince him (which takes forever). so when he realized that you didnt really like confrontation he understood that and didnt want to pressure you into anything but would do it for you
if the waiter got your order wrong (he orders for you) instead of you accepting whats been given to you, heâll call back the waiter for them to fix it. speaking of ordering for you, heâll definitely know what you want based on what you like but always makes sure and double checks with you then orders it. if your order was specific, hes got it, and no need to be ashamed he will hold up the line no hesitation for you to get what you want
seungcheol will always be your voice if you need him to be
wonwoo - someone who carries in video games & someone who sucks at them
BOUND 2 FALLING IN LOVE
now whenever wonwoo plays with you, as soon as he sees âYOUR TEAMMATE IS DOWNâ notification pop up on his screen to not take it as seriously as he did before. as soon as the message shows up he just shakes his head and smiles running back to revive you even if hes being aimed at
wonwoos lips curl up to a smile each time he hears you rage, whether when playing with you or not. if hes with you playing, heâll let out a little âits okayâ or if hes in the living room scrolling on his phone or reading heâll walk over to where youre playing and hug you or put his hands over yours and guide you to win.
(wonwoo would def let you play on his account even if you make him lose his ranks)
mingyu - golden retriever & black cat
BOUND 2 FALLING IN LOVE
i believe every black cat needs their golden retriever. some days mingyu needs someone to calm him and some days you need someone to recharge you. hes always following you, just curious of what youre doing, even if youre doing the most mundane thing he just likes hanging around you.
his number one hobby is annoying you, he will repeat the same sentence 28 times to make sure you heard it and will only stop if you coo him. on those days you do want to be alone or accidentally snap on him he wont get mad at you, heâll remind you hes there for you and leave you alone. definitely sulks but isnt mad at you, when you finally come back youre getting smothered but makes up for lost time
woof woof meow meow (i have no side note for this)
vernon - listener & yapper
BOUND 2 FALLING IN LOVE
vernon loves coming home to you. he loves knowing that theres gonna be a new âepisodeâ to his very own podcast. everyday you have a new story and the same listener, so as soon as he gets out of work, he speeds home and quickly freshens up before laying next to you in the bed with his head resting on your shoulder as you talk.
he loves hearing about your new fixation, new work drama, or just about you. and dont let his looks fool you, he listens very well. if you were packing for a trip you talked about a week ago and forgot what you needed to pack the most he automatically reminds you. he never forgets anything you tell him and never will as long as it comes out of your mouth
(he has a little notes app of the things you tell him :â-()

I know I've talked a lot about Alhaitham actually being one of the funniest characters in Genshin Impact, but every time I think about him, I find something new to laugh at.
Alhaitham's character stories and personal criticisms of Kaveh largely hinge on one specific point: That Kaveh's genius intellect and artistic abilities are incongruous with his idealism. Kaveh possesses more talent than a selfless person should reasonably have, leaving him vulnerable to constantly being taken advantage of.
However, Alhaitham states these complaints about Kaveh's personality while having the exact same problem himself.
Alhaitham is literally the definition of "personality and talents do not match." Sir, you are the pot calling the kettle black.
It's a given: Alhaitham is exceedingly competent. He is intelligent, rational, and capable of being impartial when needed. Despite being a slacker as the Akademiya's scribe, during his stint as the Acting Grand Sage, the game goes out of its way to note--in several places--that Alhaitham was actually going above and beyond what was expected of him, taking the position very seriously, uncovering and fixing major issues in the Akademiya, and demonstrating a deep care for the sanctity and future of the Akademiya as a whole when Sumeru's people's will to research and learn declined after the collapse of the Akasha.
By all accounts, Alhaitham is (was) a fantastic Grand Sage. Compared to Azar, who is shown as inherently self-aggrandizing and unconcerned with Sumeru's well-being, Alhaitham genuinely did his best during his brief time as Sumeru's leader, protecting students' research, concerning himself with how to address the people's problems, and even diving in to solve mysteries that normally would have been left for the matra. As Acting Grand Sage, we're told his behavior and judgments were fair, and he addressed problems immediately and with his full effort.
In short, there is literally no one else more qualified to be Grand Sage than Alhaitham.
And yet, despite possessing every talent needed to be the leader of a nation, Alhaitham doesn't have the personality for it. He has every single trait a good leader requires... And yet he refuses to be a leader. His own talent vastly exceeds the slow-paced life his personality leads him to seek, making his particular abilities more incongruous with his values than Kaveh's--by a mile. People keep trying to promote him into positions of leadership because his talents are so obvious, and yet he does everything in his power to deny his own abilities and instead fly under the radar--and under the level of his full potential too.
Awful hypocritical for you to claim Kaveh's talents don't match his personality when yours match even less, Alhaitham...
#genshin impact#alhaitham#kaveh#âYou should be less selfless Kaveh so your personality and your talents will finally match.â#âCall me when you stop faking incompetence so you can get paid to read on the job ALHAITHAM.â#Scribe âI can't let them know I can read clocks or they'll expect me to show up to the meetings on timeâ Alhaitham#should probably not talk about talents that exceed one's values#Imagine spending literal years nagging someone#about how they're selling themself short#while going around calling yourself a âfeeble scholarâ so no one expects you to do any actual work#Imagine being like âI am the least qualified for this position and I'm putting in only the bare minimumâ#when your âbare minimumâ is 105746060 times better than the last guy#fake idgafer#for real

Also going to finally make a pinned post for all my stuff:
BOGLEECH - my tumblr blog is named after this website I created around 2002 and still update. Thousands of pages worth of content focusing on creature design as well as real biology. My review of the original Legend of Zelda monsters might be the most straightforward example of my articles. Links to some of the most popular content:
POKEMON REVIEW ARCHIVE: - I rate and review each and every single Pokemon, in Pokedex order, on its merits as a creature design. I also do so as someone whose favorite animals are all parasites.
DIGIMON REVIEW ARCHIVE - same, but more chaotic.
CREEPYPASTA COOKOFF ARCHIVE - for several years I hosted a yearly writing contest before it grew too big for me to keep up with. There are over a thousand user submitted horror, fantasy, sci fi and surrealist stories here emphasizing unconventional, original ideas you seldom see from the "creepypasta" community!
The original "MORTASHEEN" Monster Archive - since the early 2000's I've created and illustrated more than 800 creatures and counting for my own monster-catching world, now set for release as a tabletop RPG setting.
AWFUL HOSPITAL: SERIOUSLY THE WORST EVER (page one): an interactive comedy-horror-sci-fi webcomic I started in 2014 about a medical facility that could maybe be better.
Some of my other internet stuff:
PATREON - constant work makes my patreon updates inconsistent, but the content backlog goes back years with a huge amount of exclusive art and writing. I try to put up new exclusive stuff whenever I can.
ETSY - I design all sorts of original enamel pins like these, plus I sell zero-maintenance terrarium plants (just leave them in a jar!), original books and other things!
COLOR THE ABYSS (available on the above etsy!) - a 30 page educational deep sea coloring book! Includes a few famous favorites like giant isopods and hagfish, but mostly focuses on less popular, often much weirder animals.
UNBELIEVABLE BUGS - also regularly restocked in the etsy store, 30 of the strangest and most surprising arthropods most people have likely never heard of, illustrated by myself and @revretch, written for even the youngest kids to understand (but will likely teach you something new at any age)
My Itch.io and Ko-fi - both sell digital versions of my books, including some creepypasta collections and my first novel, "Return of the Living," about a world of entirely ghosts suddenly dealing with the appearance of ghost-hunting monsters.
TWITCH CHANNEL - I now try to stream something at least monthly, sometimes weekly when possible, from horror games to books and art.
YOUTUBE CHANNEL - archives my twitch streams and other little things.
INSTAGRAM - look at pictures of my huge weird collection of toys and Halloween collectibles
BLUESKY - I'm going to put mainly just updates to my stuff on here. SEE ALSO:
HUMANS-B-GONE - a science fiction animated series by my partner @revretch, about a world of kaiju-size, technologically advanced insects and arachnids to whom vertebrates like us are just pesky little "gubs." Also has a tumblr account @humansbgone FINALLY, HERE'S MY GUIDE AND RESOURCE TO MAKING YOUR OWN INTERNET WEBSITE IN A FEW MINUTES WITH NO KNOWLEDGE OF CODING

genuine question â and i hope it doesn't come as weird â but how do get into...pokemon? </3
pokemon universe feels so big and there are so many games and i really like their designs â both for pokemons and trainers â making ocs in this setting would be so cool but i have no idea how to. begin!
could you give some advice?
ps leaving compliments for your comic and art in general!! i really like how your pieces are so colorful! gives the vibes of some small but cozy and fun town in a videogame..
no worries!! it seriously depends on what you are interested in - gamewise, region wise, and story wise.
heres what i can say. if you like typical top-down style pixel art rpg games where you solve tile puzzles and build a little team of monsters, any of the games before x and y is a good choice. platinum is a great introduction to the series because it doesn't baby you but is still decently difficult, heartgold/soulsilver are the 'coziest' games imo but may spoil you because of how much content there is, black/white and black/white 2 are the most story-driven of the games and bw2 is probably the longest play of all the games. emerald is also great, but its genuinely a hard game even as someone whos been a fan of the series for years. i would say to start with hgss because they're my favorites, but they're so good it might raise the bar too high for all the other games pixel-art games.
if you prefer 3D graphics, but still like the 'run around catching guys and solving tile puzzles', i think sun and moon are the best of the 3D games! the story is engaging and a little more modernized so that there are actual cut scenes, i think the pokemon available are cute and the region is really pretty. i thikn after that, x and y is pretty cute! the story is less strong in comparison to sun/moon. importantly; every game in the 3D era has a new type that was not present in the pixel art era - the fairy type, so if you want to learn the MODERN type chart and balances, the 3D games are where you'd need to start.
finally, if you're not a fan of the 'catch pokemon run around region' type games, pokemon has a LOT of really awesome spin off games. my favorites are as follows...
pokemon mystery dungeon explorers of sky. its the strongest story the pokemon company has ever written, and im a big fan of the mystery dungeon style gameplay.
pokemon ranger (any ranger game!) the story and graphics are cute, and it focuses on rescuing/rehabilitating pokemon more than capturing them. really lovely expansion of the pokemon universe.
pokemon go, because its free! so if you dont want to download a rom, or sink money into a new franchise, its an easy way to get into it.
pokemon snap - this was actually my very first pokemon game i ever played! (never owned it though heha) but there was just a remake for the switch, if you've got a switch that is. the game focuses on photographing pokemon in their natural habitat, and its really quite cute. slow paced and fun if you're not sure about battling yet.
finally... if you weren't looking to get into games at all, pokemon art + fan creations are personally my favorite things in the entire fandom! artists and writers and fangame devs are the people who hold this fandom up, engaging with their creations is a great and typically free way to involve yourself... im sorry this is so long, i hope this helps!! and ppl are free to add on to this hehe

what are your feelings on inspekta being both a sympathetic character and a (now former) fascist?
WELL. first of all, i think it's Probably worth noting that even while GGG's representation of the conditions that can give rise to fascism are Uncannily accurate at times (as outlined in this very excellent post by elkian) it is Also a story in which the central message is "maybe talk to your friends instead of conspiracy-posting when you start to feel bad about yourself, dipshit," and therefore its representation of fascism/fascist thought As A Whole is very... how do i say this without sounding disparaging. "saturday morning cartoon"-esque. i think this is pretty apparent in how the worst that the bizzyboys' reign of terror ever gets is banning The Concept Of Art and not, like. genocide. the only Actual fatal threat (the rift) is saved for the very end, and inspekta/hector is talked down before it can actually cause any fatalities -- otherwise, inspekta and the bizzyboys would be very different antagonists that would require the narrative to treat them much more harshly, and this would result in a very different game overall (although not one i would be opposed to playing.)
second of all, i wanna talk more about the idea of GGG being less of a game about taking down a single power-hungry fascist and more an examination of the conditions that can eventually lead to fascism if left unchecked. for just one example, we can see that even before inspekta came into power (or at least, before he started his corruption arc) and even in a world where every god is genuinely kind and just and deserving of their position, it was generally The Norm to not really call them out To Their Face - any displeasure a character voices with a god's (apparent) decision is directed to each other and the godpoke, not to the god themselves, even when that god is perfectly open to visitors and/or feedback. and this is bad because despite the gods no longer being Physically human, they are still just as fallible - they have a tendency to jump to conclusions, they let their devotion to their interests or one another cloud their judgement, they struggle with showing vulnerability (which, ironically, makes them more vulnerable than they would be otherwise.) not only does the grove benefit from regular contact with the gods to make sure that their needs are being met -- it benefits the gods, too, by way of keeping them from getting lost in their own heads and losing touch with their own humanity.
i think it's also worth noting that the bizzyboys are not the only characters we see buying into fascist rhetoric, or at least stuff that benefits fascism in the long run. you could argue that anyone who bought into inspekta's framing of king in the first place also counts, given that to do so would probably Also require one to believe that the gods are infallible. it's also worth noting that a Lot of the more notable supporting characters who fall into this are also doing so out of a profound sense of alienation; saul can't remember the last time he talked to any of his friends and he thinks nobody takes him seriously, pollina's students don't sound like they're being taught much of anything about milldread's history and therefore they have very little to actually connect them to milldread, nobody likes rick brick and he has no interiority to speak of By Design, etc etc. all of these characters, however, are also treated with a fair amount of empathy - ol' bloom turns out to be Correct in believing that saul doesn't have what it takes to kill him and once the issue of the harvest is solved, he's welcomed back with open arms, pollina's students are like 8, and even rick brick's story ends with him beginning to realize that maybe it's okay if a story only appeals to its author and nobody else.
tl;dr: if ggg was even Slightly less cartoony than it actually is, this aspect of inspekta would come across as pretty jarring, but given the aspects of fascism that GGG chooses to focus on and how it treats smaller antagonists, i can't really imagine inspekta's story ending any other way. if i Did have any actual concerns, i'd say maybe it's that the bizzyboys being from the drain + the drain having such a negative connotation can get kinda dicey? something about the idea of fascism being an Evil Foreign Entity and not something that can just as easily start at home doesnât sit quite right with me. but ofc a lot of emphasis is placed on the bizzyboys' humanity and potential to do good if not for inspekta's own Complexes getting the better of him (and even inspekta's own genuine capacity for leadership before that happened) so that's probably more of a potential bone to pick with fanwork, given how little exploration drain actually Gets in canon.
also i hope this doesn't Need to be said but just to be clear: i'm not trying to like, call out limbolane or Inspekta Himself, just examining what this aspect of his character was trying to Accomplish + how it relates to the game's themes and such. with that said i am very much still a novice when it comes to political analysis of media so if anybody more well-read than me wants to chime in, Please feel free to do so lol.
#anon#ask#great god grove#ggg spoilers#spoilers#if this was an ask about any other work i would be tempted to brush it off as bait but ggg's creators themselves have talked about this so#also yes. i am still working on those fic prompts. i have been having a Rough One lately

I found a couple other old essays. I dont even remember writing this. đđđ
the importance of failure in slam dunk
At the heart of the Slam Dunk manga lies the journey of Hanamichi Sakuragi, an immature and often ridiculous delinquent who finds redemption and development not in his victories, but in his failures. While his triumphsâsuch as him leading to Shohoku winning against Sannohâare often at the forefront of fansâ minds, it is his failures that truly define his arc. Inoueâs genius lies in how he uses these missteps, both comedic and heartbreaking, to slowly strip away Sakuragiâs insecurities and guide him toward self-realization. This essay examines how Sakuragiâs failures, ranging from his rejection of basketball to his pivotal injury at Nationals, form the emotional and thematic core of the manga. In Sakuragiâs imperfections, Slam Dunk captures something universal: what it means to fail, to rise, and to find beauty in the struggle. As the rapper J. Cole once said, âThereâs beauty in the struggle.â
Sakuragiâs story begins with rejectionâa theme that repeats throughout his arc. Before the series even starts, we learn that heâs been turned down by fifty girls, a fact that he loudly exaggerates to mask his own embarrassment. His arrogance is a facade, one meant to protect him from the constant fear of not being enough. When Haruko Akagi enters his life, her kind demeanor and genuine enthusiasm for basketball give Sakuragi something heâs been searching for: a sense of hope.
Though not without its complications. Harukoâs admiration for Kaede Rukawa, Sakuragiâs rival in love and on the court, creates a dynamic between the two where every interaction is charged with Sakuragiâs jealousy, bitterness, and the need to prove himself. These failures in love reflect his early struggles on the basketball court: full of bluster, but ultimately rooted in a deep yearning for validation.
Sakuragiâs first steps on the court are anything but graceful. He fouls. He trips. He flails in spectacular fashion. And then thereâs Captain Takenori Akagi, a towering figure of discipline and seriousness, who sees right through Sakuragiâs facade. In one particularly memorable moment, after being harshly scolded by Akagi for his antics, Sakuragi storms out of the gym, declaring that heâs done with basketball. Itâs a telling moment: Sakuragiâs ego canât handle criticism, and his instinct is to run away when faced with failure.
But Sakuragi comes back. Perhaps itâs Harukoâs encouragement, or maybe itâs the sting of Akagiâs words, but something pushes him to return. Itâs a small act, but it marks the beginning of his transformation. Though his early games are riddled with mistakes, airballs, turnovers, even scoring on his own basket, these failures chip away at his arrogance, revealing a resilience he didnât know he had. Inoue doesnât shy away from showing how difficult growth can be. Sakuragiâs journey is not a straight line; itâs a series of stumbles, each one teaching him something new about himself.
The most profound moment of Sakuragiâs journey comes during Shohokuâs legendary game against Sannoh at the Nationals. It is the culmination of everything he has fought forâthe respect of his team, the recognition of his talent, and his own sense of belonging. When Sakuragi makes the dramatic final shot, securing victory for Shohoku, it feels like the perfect ending to his story. But itâs not. His triumph is bittersweet, overshadowed by the cost: a severe back injury that forces him to sit out the rest of the tournament.
For Sakuragi, who has only just begun to understand what basketball means to him, this loss is devastating. After spending so much of the series trying to prove himselfâfirst to Haruko, then to Akagi, and finally to his teamâhe is faced with the harsh reality that his body, like his ego, has limits. And yet, it is in this moment of loss that Sakuragi experiences his most profound growth. He doesnât wallow in self-pity or rage at the unfairness of it all. Instead, he commits himself to rehabilitation with the same fiery determination he once reserved for proving people wrong. For the first time, Sakuragi is not playing for validation; he is playing because he loves the game.
Inoue captures this shift wonderfully, letting Sakuragiâs actions speak louder than his words. His injury, rather than breaking him, becomes a turning point. It is no longer about the crowdâs praise or Harukoâs admirationâit is about finding joy in the struggle, in the effort itself.
Sakuragiâs failures donât just shape his individual growth; they also deepen his relationships with his teammates. Early in the series, his arrogance isolates him, as he sees basketball as a platform for personal glory rather than a team effort. This is particularly evident in his rocky relationship with Captain Akagi, who initially regards Sakuragi as a nuisance unworthy of the sport. Over time, however, his mistakes force him to rely on others. Akagiâs stern guidance, Miyagiâs quick assists, and even Mitsuiâs sharpshooting show how basketball is a team sportâa lesson Sakuragi learns through repeated failure.
His relationship with Kaede Rukawa also evolves significantly through this lens. Initially, Sakuragi views Rukawa as nothing more than a rival to be humiliated, both on the court and in Harukoâs eyes. This one-sided antagonism leads to numerous comedic confrontations, such as Sakuragi deliberately fouling Rukawa in practice out of jealousy. But as the series progresses, their rivalry becomes one of mutual respect. A key moment occurs during the Sannoh game, when Rukawa silently acknowledges Sakuragiâs contribution with a fist bump. This small, yet deeply significant gesture, highlights how far Sakuragi has comeânot just as a player, but as someone capable of earning and giving respect.
What sets Slam Dunk apart from other sports manga is its refusal to romanticize perfection. Sakuragiâs growth is not marked by MVP titles or championship trophies but by the incremental changes in his character. By the end of the series, he remains imperfectâstill impulsive, still prone to overconfidenceâbut those flaws are what make him human. His failures do not define him as a player; they define him as a person.
Inoueâs portrayal of Sakuragiâs transformation is marked by moments of both comedy and deep emotional weight. For instance, his iconic rebound against Sannohâa moment of pure athletic brillianceâfeels earned precisely because of the countless errors that preceded it. Itâs not a product of raw talent but of hard work, resilience, and the lessons learned from failure. This balance between failure and success mirrors the unpredictability of real life, where growth often comes not from moments of triumph but from the struggles that lead up to them.
Slam Dunk is a story of triumph, but not in the way one might expect. What sets the series apart from other sports stories is its refusal to romanticize perfection. Sakuragi doesnât end the series as an unstoppable force or a perfect player. He remains impulsive, rough around the edges, and prone to mistakes. But itâs these imperfections that make his journey so compelling.
By the end of the series, Sakuragiâs story isnât about winning over the girl or becoming the best player on the court. Itâs about finding joy in the struggle, embracing the process of growth, and discovering that failure isnât something to be fearedâitâs something to learn from. His story reminds us that the art of losing is not about failure itself, but about the courage to rise again, no matter how many times we fall.

pleeease give a review for infinity nikki ive been thinking about downloading it but i dont know if i have the space and if its worth it to clear some up for it !!!
as someone who spent HOURS on flash-based dollmakers as a kid, i absolutely love it. the gameplay hits somewhere between dressup game and open-world RPG, in that there's a large botw-like open map to explore, but the express purpose of exploring it is to unlock new clothes for your character. The exploration itself feels very calm and cozy most of the time, with the emphasis being on small collection tasks like fishing, bug-catching, and foraging. again, all of this is specifically to craft new outfits for nikki which you can both coordinate with no limitations to wear in the open world and use in scored styling contests with npcs, some of which reward you with game currency and some of which help you progress the story quests. the only place where i feel the gameplay truly suffers is in combat. you have one attack, and it's a ranged shooter, but there's no aim-assist whatsoever, and the mobile joystick isn't NEARLY sensitive enough to justify this. aiming in combat is one of the most difficult parts of the game, and nikki can only take 5 hits before she dies and has to respawn, making combat decently frustrating. However, there are very few places where combat is strictly necessary in-game, and both of the boss battles i've done so far had hitboxes large enough that it wasn't an issue; it's really in the open world against hordes of smaller enemies that the lack of targeting becomes really frustrating. other than that, though, the controls are fairly well-designed and intuitive, especially if you've played similar games before.
The clothes themselves are the star of the show, of course. I've yet to see a single clothing item in the game that I don't want. there's a good mix of fancy intricate outfit pieces and basics to obtain early-on, and without even touching the gacha you can coordinate some really cute outfits via in-universe boutiques and quests that reward you with clothes. Even the very obviously themed ability outfit sets that you craft early on almost always have a few pieces that are easy to mix and match with, so there's a TON of styling potential even for free players! As for the gacha, it's actually one of the more generous games i've played in terms of rewards and pity systems. My one complaint so far is that the 5-star gacha outfits especially seem to be very accessory-heavy, meaning it's possible to pull shoes, multiple necklaces, gloves, socks, and hairpieces before ever pulling the dress they're very obviously designed around. there is a pity mechanic to prevent this, but it requires you to pull a few too many times before your guarantee imo.
The story is ridiculous in a good way. It kind of reads like a 2000s-era barbie movie to me right now, in the best way possible. there's an amazingly predictable sexy villain, cute little flying creatures that follow you around, and every conflict is, of course, solved via clothes in one way or another. My absolute favorite thing about the writing, though, is how blatantly earnest it all is. at no point does the game poke fun at its own wacky concept or even attempt to make some self-aware joke about it to the player--it plays everything completely straight, and in this aspect it almost feels MORE self-aware. it knows that the kind of person who wants to play a dressup rpg is also the kind of person who does not, under any circumstances whatsoever, want to be questioned or made fun of for their love of fashion or their engagement with that game. It very much feels like the devs know that they're working with primarily girls and young women and a subject matter that those girls and young women are often looked down upon or made fun of for seriously engaging with, and so it promises to engage EXTRA-seriously to make up for that. (side note: there's one point in a story quest where, when asked to make a wish, nikki wishes that all girls never get cramps again. that was when i knew this was a game that knew its audience.) If I wanted to nitpick, i might say that every quest so far has sort of felt like an increasingly ridiculous trading sequence--you learn what you need to do very early on, but you'll always spend several hours of gameplay encountering obstacles and doing other smaller tasks to circumvent those obstacles so you can reach your original goal. this might annoy me more if the game was trying to market itself as a serious RPG, but it seems very self-aware to me, and despite how i'm describing it none of the quests ive played have actually FELT tedious. I think the fact that it's such a wild concept to begin with gives the writers a bit of leeway in how they handle the story quests, and because I as the player am aware i'm playing a dressup game I don't really expect quests to immediately get to the point and let me fight something. I will say that there are certain things that aren't super intuitive especially if you aren't a seasoned gacha rpg player, particularly the features relating to advancing your skills and the styling points of your clothing. though the game does technically explain what you need to do, it doesn't explain the RELEVANCE of the feature, just that it exists, so I had to lose multiple styling contests before I realized i could upgrade my clothing to get higher scores.
The final thing I'll talk about is performance. I'm playing the game on my iphone 13, and the performance is.... not great, i'm ngl. Off the bat, if you play the game on a mobile device, you're going to be getting a HEAVILY scaled-down version of the terrain graphics. all of those screenshots you see online of beautiful terrain full of flowers and particle effects are from ps5s or custom pcs. truthfully, the mobile app looks like a game from 2012 and it will still turn your phone into an incinerator. I've also encountered multiple graphics bugs, some during pivotal scenes, and I get consistent lags when playing for longer than a few hours, likely due to the strain on my phone's hardware. it's also an INSANE battery drain, so i only play when my phone is plugged in. All that being said, the game has been out for less than a week, so visual bugs are inevitable, and the developers have stated that mobile optimization is a priority, so hopefully we'll at the very least no longer have to overheat our devices to play it soon. Also worth noting, from what I've seen the rendering of the CLOTHING doesn't suffer AT ALL on mobile devices. presumably they sacrificed terrain rendering to allow for such beautiful texturing on the clothing itself, which, given that the clothing is the main focus of the game, I can't fault them for. Basically, if you're going to try to run an unreal engine game on your iphone, be aware that it will run like an unreal engine game on an iphone. and prepare yourself to have to let your device cool down every few hours.
tldr: i love the game so far. i'm really excited to keep playing and see where the story goes, and I think they should make more games for girls <3
#asks#infinity nikki#<3 <3 <3#did anyone here ever play style savvy as a kid? it's not the same by any means but in terms of the clothes it very much has the same vibes#in that there's a great balance of basics and complex pieces and an insane amount of styling potential. god i loved style savvy#I barely ever went to my store in that game i'd just buy out the depot over and over so i could make new outfits for my character#OH ALSO other note: I really appreciated that despite being open-world and having so much jump-based platforming the game blatantly refused#to EVER allow for panty-shots no matter what outfit nikki is in. her skirt will not fly up while she's exploring#and when you remove her clothes in the dressup menu she gets a nice tasteful little tank top and shorts set! no oversexualization here <3#again a great example of the game knowing its audience

I love your stuff girl and Iâve been on a sbg obsession again and Iâm wondering if you could write an Ashlyn with an s/o who dyes their hair differently often (def not self projecting) either way Iâll be back to annoy you with other stuff love your stuff <3
Ashlyn with her S/O who dyes their hair often
note -> I'm glad you like my stuff!
warnings -> none.
content includes -> fluff, she loves your hair, helps you color it.
Every time you come around with a different shade, Ashlyn catches herself staring a little longer than she means to. She's interested in your choice of color and what that might mean, but she'd never ask outrightâshe'd much rather hear you ramble about it on your own time.
She'll offer to help dye your hair, even if she's not particularly good at it on the first tries, she'll take it seriously and try. You might end up with a few colorful streaks where they shouldn't be, but she'd laugh it off sheepishly and apologize. Plus, it's a good excuse for her to spend more time with you.
Ashlyn gets used to spotting you in a crowd by your hair, whether it's neon pink, rich navy blue, or even more subdued like pastl lavender. It is almost a game when a glimpse of whatever the new color happens to be makes her smileâjust a little, because she knows it is you.
She's sentimentally in love with your hair dye choices. Every time you change it to some other color, Ashlyn likes to imagine that it is a mirror of how you feel or what you have gone through. And although it was just because that colour looked awesome, she finds herself wanting to remember every shade, like tiny chapters in your story together.
Ashlyn loves seeing you in bright colors. It contrastingly makes her darker, more reserved style pop, and she loves how you bring a little vibrancy with you wherever you go. Even on days when things feel tight or bleak, just the sight of your brightly dyed hair can make her feel like there's some semblance of hope.
She will take some of the extra hair dye bottles after you're done with them and store them in her room, like little mementos. She would never admit it, but she likes those little reminders of time that you have spent together, even if it's just a discarded bottle of pink dye.
When you try on bold colors, Ashlyn is your greatest admirer. She wouldn't show excitement, but she would give you a very genuine compliment that means so much if coming from her.
She likes running her fingers through your hair when it's freshly dyed. It has become one of those unconscious habits when the two of you are alone that her hand will find its way into your hair and softly twirl a lock around her finger. She likes it soft from a fresh dye, even when she acts as if it doesn't matter.
She is tactful in not making jokes about the color of your hair dye if you're sensitive about it. Even when you are all put together with your style, Ashlyn can find her way to be considerate of what is important to you. She respects that this is a form of expression for you, and she would never do anything on purpose to hurt your feelings with a comment like that.
Anytime you're talking about changing your hair again, she'll tell you colors that she thinks would look good on you, although she'd never come straight out and say it.
Ashlyn has been keeping pictures of all your hair colors. She keeps it to herself, but every picture holds a moment unique-your smile right after dyeing it electric blue, how the sunset hit it when you used that fire red, or going with a darker tone looking like you had stepped directly out of a dream.

more Monoma because it is what he deserves
we kind of see this with Eri, but i imagine that Monoma would actually do great with kids, much to the surprise of literally everyone around him. he is 100% the type to come up with really elaborate stories about knights and princesses and dragons that younger audiences would absolutely adore
every time Monoma is portrayed as sexist in some piece of fanwork, an angel loses its wings. Monoma couldn't give a FUCK about gender roles. Monoma has girls night with Pony where they wear face masks and paint each other's nails. he gossips about the hottest boys in school and act affronted when he isn't everyone's #1 pick. he has cried at a romcom before, and he will do it again. (real talk though, he was canonically one of like three people to treat Uraraka seriously in her fight with Bakugo. miss him with the sexism allegations).
Monoma is fluent in Japanese, English, and talking shit. passable in German and French.
Monoma is stupidly good at strategy games. once, Vlad King walked into the class B common room to find Monoma playing four separate games of Battleship on other students' laptops while they cheered him on. (he won all 4 games. Tetsutetsu was so moved that he cried).
Monoma only ever faces mild drawbacks from using other's quirks because (1) his body does a great job adapting to them, and (2) he only has a limited amount of time with each; (for example, he gets mildly queasy after using Uraraka's quirk as opposed to completely sick); however, Copy has a pretty bad drawback of its own: if he doesn't use it to copy a quirk for a while, Monoma is left feeling empty and dull (shoutout @coldlandstarlight for this banger of an idea)
in contrast, if Monoma uses Copy too much, he gets hit with some pretty bad depersonalization/derealization, like he can't figure out what is purely "Monoma" and what is just a simulacrum of the people around him. this is part of the reason that he doesn't mind being perceived as so extra; he'd rather be criticized for being "too much" than be accused of being a copy of someone else

ahhhh they kissed đ„șđ„ș
matt not wanting to wait long after he finally got to kiss her and he takes her on a date
First Date
(yes i did write this fast, i love baby devil)
Itâs not easy being the only female player on the Devilsâ roster, but you wouldnât trade it for the world. The boys had become your second familyâcharming, goofy, and ridiculously protective. They made sure you were safe, happy, and always treated like their little sister. Even though you appreciated their care, it also made your budding relationship with Matt Rempeâa towering forward from the New York Rangersâa bitâŠcomplicated.
Matt didnât seem to care about the rivalry, though. After weeks of stolen glances and playful banter, the two of you had finally shared your first kiss. It was soft but electric, leaving both of you breathless and wanting more. And, well, Matt wasnât going to waste any time after that.
âTomorrow. Youâre mine for the whole day,â he had whispered that night, voice low and determined.
The next morning, youâre tucked inside a tiny cafĂ© on a quiet corner of Manhattan, seated across from Matt as sunlight streams through the windows. Itâs the kind of place with mismatched chairs, quirky dĂ©cor, and pastries that look too beautiful to eat. The warm scent of coffee drifts through the air, and the quiet hum of soft jazz wraps around the two of you like a cozy blanket.
Matt leans forward slightly, one arm resting casually on the table, while his free hand wraps around a steaming cup of coffee. His knee bumps yours under the tableânot by accident.
âHowâs your croissant, superstar?â he asks, a grin playing on his lips.
You roll your eyes, though you canât help the smile tugging at the corners of your mouth. âSeriously? Superstar?â
âYup.â He takes a slow sip of his coffee, eyes twinkling. âYouâre my superstar now.â
Your stomach does a little flip. For a guy as physically imposing as Matt, he has an unexpected softness to himâa charm that sneaks up on you when you least expect it.
You glance at him from under your lashes, warmth spreading through your chest. âThis better not be you trying to butter me up so you can score easy points in the next Devils-Rangers game.â
Matt laughs, a deep, rumbling sound that makes your heart stutter. âNah, sweetheart. If anything, Iâm hoping you take it easy on me.â He winks, and you fight the urge to throw a crumpled napkin at him.
After the cafĂ©, Matt takes your hand as you walk through the bustling streets, his fingers slotting between yours like they belong there. You let him lead you to the next stop on your dateâa museum tucked away from the busy streets of the city.
The museum is quiet, almost reverent, the cool air a welcome relief from the warm sun outside. You wander through the exhibits hand in hand, your fingers still intertwined, neither of you in a hurry.
At first, you try to focus on the artworkâeach piece captivating in its own way, every sculpture and painting telling a story. But itâs hard to stay focused when you keep catching Matt staring at you instead of the exhibits.
âMatt,â you whisper, glancing over at him with a raised brow. âYou do know youâre supposed to look at the art, right?â
He doesnât even flinch. âI am,â he replies, the corners of his mouth curving into that familiar, smug smile. âBut youâre way more interesting.â
Your heart stumbles in your chest at the softness in his gaze. Itâs not just a cheesy lineâhe means it, and that makes it even worse.
âRempe,â you groan, dragging a hand over your face to hide the heat rising to your cheeks. âThatâs so corny.â
Matt chuckles, not even a little ashamed. âMaybe. But itâs true.â
You roll your eyes, but the warmth blooming in your chest is undeniable.
The day slips by in a perfect haze of stolen touches, quiet laughter, and playful teasing. You explore every corner of the museum, Matt making sure you take your time with whatever catches your interest, even if it means standing in front of the same painting for way too long.
But the real art, you realize, isnât in the exhibits. Itâs in the way Matt looks at youâlike youâre the only thing in the room worth admiring.
By the time the two of you step back outside, the sun is starting to dip below the horizon, painting the sky in soft shades of pink and gold. The air is cooler now, and Matt wraps an arm around your shoulders, pulling you closer as you walk.
He leans down to murmur in your ear. âSo... when can I take you out again?â
You laugh softly, leaning into his warmth. âAlready planning our next date, huh?â
Matt smirks. âWhat can I say? I donât like wasting time.â
Thereâs something in the way he says itâlike he means more than just the next date. Like heâs already imagining every moment he could spend with you, every kiss, every stolen glance.
When you reach your building, Matt pulls you close for one last kiss. Itâs slow and sweet, his lips lingering against yours like heâs trying to make the moment last.
âSee you soon, superstar,â he whispers, and the promise in his voice sends a shiver down your spine.

the last few episodes of persephone moping around have felt like less of a self-reflective moment for her to grow and change and more rachel griping about criticism and surrounding herself with yes men
this isn't gonna be in any way a formal essay like my usual sort, more of a slam post honestly, so fair warning that i'm gonna be a little salty here
EPISODE 263 SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!
but seriously, it's been a pity party of greek proportions because this constant "woe is me" shit with persephone that's constantly met with "no queeen you're amazing and perfect" has been going on for DAYS (real time and comic time)
literally every episode since the comic returned has had some segment of either persephone or hades (or both) being upsetti spaghetti over their current situation because oh nooo persephone made the deal with erebus and had to sacrifice something. even though they both knew that was gonna happen and yet she did it anyways. so she just continues to lock herself away in her mansion and spout adorkable quips while her husband, mother, and colleagues deal with the mess she caused.
and of course there's the constant inclusion of apollo spitting straight facts about persephone being a terrible queen and person, but of course because it's apollo saying it, it's not meant to be taken as gospel, essentially clapping back at the words of the critics who call out persephone for being a shitty and toxic protagonist by putting those words into the mouth of a literal rapist.
and yeah episode 263 had a lot of the same shit, to the point that you could literally swap out the names of the characters and the words they were speaking and it applies exactly to rachel and the corner she put herself in u.u it's been a thing for a while now that apollo has just felt like a mouthpiece for LO criticism but as mentioned by users within the subreddit during the discussion of this newest episode, it's never felt more apparent than now.
so yeah enjoy this satirical text edit of a sequence from the newest FP episode, which I honestly can't tell is meant to satirize the critical community or Rachel's reactions to the critical community because the weird reality this comic and its community exist in has just become that wack that it's hard to believe it's not directly from The Onion sometimes LMAO
-and as much as i find myself empathizing with the pressure that rachel is surely under right now - no one should have to be subject to the screeching howls of the peanut gallery - i can't help but be reminded of the memes and tweets she's put out that basically outright say "persephone is supposed to be celebrated for being a shitty person, if you can't handle her at her worst you don't deserve her at her best đ
"-
instagram
-and how often she's ruined her own day looking for critical groups or people with the "wrong opinions" that were minding their own business, or how much she's stifled her own community's attempts to discuss the story openly by having her mods ban anyone with even so much as a question regarding persephone's integrity.
so yeah, as much as i can empathize with her from one creator to another that being under this amount of pressure and scrutiny must be immensely frustrating and exhausting, beyond that one similarity i just can't empathize or relate to this mindset of almost learned helplessness that's taken a firm grip over her writing. this is the story she wants to tell and by all means no one is entitled to make her stop, but if she's gonna keep using her greek myth "retelling" comic that's trying to be "feminist" as a mouthpiece for her own griping over criticisms that are largely on-point and justified - to the point of putting the words of her critics into the mouth of her token villain like she's playing some single player barbie doll "act out that fight that sounded cooler in your head" game - then she's gonna keep getting called out, full stop. i figured she didn't have any nose left to rip off in spite of her face but apparently not.
look, i get it, there are some opinions and behaviors within the critical community that even i'm not on board with. there are people who absolutely take shit too far on both sides of the fandom, and i think both sides need to do more to hold themselves accountable for how they interact with each other, the comic, and rachel herself. i make it a point to keep my shit in my own house, i'm not entitled to rachel's attention and frankly it's the last thing i want because i have a lot of fun here and i don't want that to be potentially ruined or dampened! but if you come into my house and complain about the decorating, then i legitimately don't know what to tell you. i used to love LO and i'm so sad for my past self knowing fully well they're not gonna be able to wholeheartedly enjoy this comic forever due to how manipulative and shitty the storytelling has become. a story that i once connected to as an AFAB who was a victim of assault and abuse and generational trauma.
if persephone being the true main villain in her own story was ever meant to be the point of Lore Olympus, then it's taken way, way too long to get to that point, and rachel herself definitely doesn't seem to be of the mindset that that's what she's become with all of her blasé meme'ing on a plot arc that she's still expecting us to take seriously. persephone was never a very complex character to begin with - being an easy self-insert for the audience and rachel to project themselves onto and relate to - but at least in the beginning she felt like she had so much legitimate potential, she was naive but put her best foot forward and clearly wanted to make a life for herself, made by herself.
now she's just mean. jaded and mean. dependent on the constant validation of others to the point of being manipulative. an absolute shell of a person who can only grow a spine when she's punching down on people weaker than her, completely incapable of standing up to the people who are a legitimate threat to her. it's not empowering, it's not subversive, it's just another pick me story about women pitting themselves against other women and never taking accountability for their own behavior, mistakes, and deliberate actions meant to hurt others, often teetering on the line of straight up narcissism all for the sake of a "boss babe" moment.
anyways, if you want an actual well-written and GOOD scene of an empathetic female protagonist struggling to find their footing in adulthood being called the fuck out for their learned helplessness behavior, go read Tamberlane, it tackles this topic much better through its main character who keeps using her brokenness as an excuse to never do better, it slaps and it's so real.
#the only thing i could possibly enjoy from these episodes is minthe coming forward#and leuce#and tori#other than that they're just a bunch of nothing#no plot#no yeehaw#just boohoo#and not even in the good way where you know the 'boohoo' is gonna lead to some good yeehaw#the shitty and toxic way where the 'boohoo' is a personality trait that everyone else has to bend themselves around#lore olympus critical#anti lore olympus#lo critical#Instagram

Throwing this in, though I know you have a post saying you're taking a break: I quite like Tetro. The story is exciting, and incredible. You've done an amazing job piecing everything together, and it has lead to me pretty seriously looking into following the footsteps of this project with a story also told in this audio format, since you demonstrated so clearly not only how this was possible, but how this could be done so well for a Killing Game specifically. The latest events, the latest death, as made me incredibly sad, and I feel a lot of emotional turmoil over losing both victims. But despite that, I have enjoyed the loving, losing, and worrying for the future. That's amazing. All of it is amazing. I have my theories and conclusions about who may be guilty and who isn't, but based on the posts I read, I mainly wanted to express an amount of thankfulness that the series exists at all. It's even lead to me writing fanpieces for some character interactions, and I imagine I have a few more in me from all that's gone on. Not only that, but the hard topics of this series have meant a lot to me. Yanagi and Tsuno have especially felt really close to home. The stories they talk about and the things they deal with matter in my own life. And the series as a whole has made me cry over stuff that mattered to me much more than any other media has done in the last year or so, maybe longer, in even broader strokes. All the characters don't just feel like people one could meet, but people I have met. People I have known. And some of those conversations feel just like ones I've had in my own life. You've done something incredible, and the writing has connected to me deeply. And though I can only speak for me, I doubt I'm alone in this. Thank you for this project, and thank you for sharing it so broadly, freely, and completely. Thanks for writing it, and writing daringly, maturely, and earnestly. At least, such are the ways I would describe it.
I hope I can cross paths with you sometime in the future over a creative endeavor. But in the meanwhile, I'll be tuned in to whatever you do for this, and for whatever comes next. As these things are called asks, if you do decide to respond: Who on Tetro is your favorite? Is it the same from when you were initially writing it? And what lead you to choose an audio drama as the medium in question? Thanks, and see ya at the trial.
thank you very very much, im extremely glad that youve been able to connect with my writing on that level and i hope that others have as well! i really enjoyed the writing process for tetro so its always really cool for me when others can enjoy my story as well
also, my favourite is hama! that changed a lot during production, but ive settled on hama as my goat forever i think. sorry to all the other favs i abandoned along the way
i chose the audio drama format because ive always really liked being able to picture things. when i was a kid, i used to fall asleep to audio books every night, and i really liked being able to picture the characters and stories as they were happening. i would always be so disappointed when id go to watch a movie adaptation of a book i liked only to see that everything looked different from in my head lmao.
i also think audio is a really fun format for this type of story! it was a fun challenge to get my points across without having visuals to back my writing. i didnt have very much faith in my ability to do this at first. tetro was originally planned to have a narrator because i didnt think id be able to tell a story without one. when i realized my writing could stand on its own, i took out the narrator and just let myself carry it as best i could. i think it made for some really fun opportunities where the impact of a scene just wouldnt have been nearly as strong if there had been visuals or narration.
i think [Ice Fairy] is a highlight of tetro in terms of audio storytelling - same with [Good Child]. having only audio forces you as the viewer to take a moment to figure out what's happening, which in turn gives you an "oh shit" realization moment that really helps the impact of a scene like [Ice Fairy] or [Good Child]. there are still some more really cool examples of tetro utilizing its format left to come - i hope you enjoy them when they do!
