Been replaying Pre-Sequal for the past few days (along with Pikmin 4) and decided to do post-BL3 refs for the Pre-Sequal vault hunters, or at least the ones still alive (yes Aurelia is still alive)
Also unrelated, I still need a name for this au. I'm thinking about calling it Siren's Songs but I'm still debating on that.
Athena
Her and Sprigs have been able to live well financially so Athena doesn't do as many odd jobs, but still does the occasional bounty. (better than selling kebobs)
She also works alongside Sprigs at her black market. (mainly to go after people who tried to scam them)
Claptrap
Starting to become worse for where, a lot of his new parts for repairs were from old Claptraps units.
Along with that he's starting to rust in some areas. (nothing but a little paint and some stickers would do the trick)
Has been reunited with his stair climbing wheel and became even more of an annoying menace.
Still refers to himself as General Claptrap.
Timothy
Still doesn't want to do anything involving that casino (or Jack in general) but Moxxi did offer him to work at her bar in Sanctuary lll.
Not as cowardly as before (like because of Jack's DNA) but still kinda pathetic.
(I kinda had fun with this design. Like I was trying to make him look like Jack's doppelganger but not Jack at the same time)
Him and Moxxi are still a thing. It was complicated at first but had gotten better once he started to not look like Jack.
Was finally able to get that bomb disarmed and removed. (thanks to Tannis and Zed)
Aurelia
What Borderlands 3 did to Aurelia should be a crime!!!!!! Like why?!?!?!?!?!?!
Acted as a spy for the Crimson Raiders so she could get intel from the C.O.V.
Troy still has a thing for her, but she's not interested and is creeped out by it. (it's gotten to the point where she straight up told him that she's a lesbian, not sugar coating what's so ever)
After the events of Pre-Sequal, Aurelia doesn't find hunting animals near extinction as fun as it used to be.
Her and Alistair's relationship is........ complicated, but they are starting to tolerate each other, so there's that.......
Still kind of a bitch, but it's mostly for show. (I mean in pre-sequal she says she's evil but even she has standards)
Has suffered frostbite on both fingers and toes, likely due to cryo usage.
Her design (especially the frostbite detail) were inspired by @wainwrightjakobshammerlock post-BL3 Aurelia design.
#borderlands#borderlands the pre sequel#athena the gladiator#claptrap the fragtrap#timothy lawrence#timothy the doppelganger#aurelia hammerlock#aurelia the baroness#post bl3#my art#but seriously aurelia really deserves better#like the writers just straight up ignore her development in pre-sequal#siren song (post-bl3)

Deep Winter Hunt
Lady Dimitrescu x OC~ I wrote this to this song, because I have Destiny 2 brain rot sometimes, lol, so it’s my excuse to show you this song. Also, huuuusssh, I love soft Alcina with all my heart. 🥺 TW: injuries, sex mention
Snow crunched beneath the Reaper’s boots as she scanned her surroundings, each breath manifesting as a frosty puff. It was overcast, so it made the winter’s morning look even drearier than would be typical, and it was lightly snowing. This wild hunt was starting to drag on a bit too long for her liking, but her stubbornness refused to let her return home empty handed.
Two weeks. That was how long the hunt was going on for, taking the Reaper all over Romania, from the steppes to pine forests. She even almost wandered off to Serbia when she temporarily lost track of the maiden she was after. This is no ordinary maiden, the Reaper thought to herself as she settled down for the night, starting a small campfire to stave off the cold as she rested. Her heart ached for her love, Lady Alcina Dimitrescu, but she had to forge on so as to not disappoint her. “I’ll be back soon, don’t worry,” she said out loud as if she was on the phone with her.
The last time she contacted Alcina was two days ago, and the Reaper was wrestling with if she should call her beloved. “No… gotta conserve my phone’s battery,” she muttered to herself as she had a tight grip on her phone, decided to wait until the morning. Normally, she’d call every two days if the hunt was long, but… her power bank was running a bit low, and her phone’s battery was just as low. She breathed, leaning against a tree as she looked up at the night sky, the stars shining especially bright on this cloudless night. She wondered how Alcina was doing, hoping the lady wouldn’t fret too much.
Naturally, the opposite happened. Alcina was just constantly wringing her hands in worry. “Oh, damn, I knew I should have let you three join her…” she hissed in worry, her daughters watching.
“Shall we go after her, Mother?” the oldest, a brunette named Viorica, asked.
“I… I don’t know, Viorica,” Alcina reluctantly admitted. “That damn tenacity of hers, she could have easily called off the hunt, but no… this maiden was just too pretty to pass up, and she just had to try to bag her for my wine.”
“Where could she even be?” Daniela, the blonde one, the middle child, mused. Of the three sisters, the Reaper was the closest to Daniela, so the witch was understandably concerned. “Last she told us, she was somewhere in Țara Românească, yes?”
“And that’s why I’m worried. The prey could have easily made off into București, if she’s smart. It’s only the largest city in Romania, after all… not to mention others would try to follow the Reaper back to us if she made one mistake this deep into her hunt,” Alcina wanted to send her daughters off to track the Reaper down, though she had no idea if the trail would be still warm enough, with the snow coming and going. No… she couldn’t risk her daughters; she just had to trust the Reaper to manage to get back. “Leave… for now, at least. We’ll just have to wait for her next call.”
Daniela and Viorica, swarmed away, though her youngest, a redhead named Aurelia, stayed behind. “Why are you so worried about… her, Mother?” she almost growled. Of the three, the redhead was the least trusting of the Reaper, though she didn’t directly antagonize her.
Alcina’s lips almost curled into a grimace. “My reasons are mine alone, Aurelia. You don’t need to know why, you just need to respect it. The Reaper has given us many gifts, has she not?”
“But she’s still just… some girl you picked up from the streets,” Aurelia almost spat. “All it took was a ‘boohoo, my life is sad, can you please take me away’ to get you to cave in, Mother.”
“Aurelia, you’re being rather mouthy, and you know I hate those who sass back to me,” Alcina glowered, as if threatening to revoke her daughter’s privileges. “Now, go back and relax with your sisters as I told you to. I won’t repeat myself, you hear me, young lady?”
“I just need to know why you care so much about this silly little girl! She’s… just an intruder trying to ruin our lives… A foreigner who thinks she’s all that!”
“Because I love her!” Alcina finally snapped. “I… love her,” she repeated, quieter this time and with more deliberation. It was rare that the good lady lost her composure, but… emotions flared up. She held a hand to her chest, slowly realizing her romantic feelings for the Reaper.
“I… I see how it is, Mother,” Aurelia swarmed away before her mother would actually punish her. It would take a while for the youngest to process her feelings about a new vampire among their ranks...
She supposed it was a bit strange, finally feeling a flicker of romance, despite the many trysts between her and the Reaper, but it felt amazing when she came to terms with it. “Oh, my darling Reaper… you better come back home soon.”
And after a day and a half, return, she did, though wounded. “Sorry… I got attacked by a feral one. Wanted the prize, I think,” the Reaper said as her teeth chattered. Her bones were ice cold, and some of her wounds were caked with ice and dried blood. Her breathing was ragged and exhausted, exhaling frosty puffs with every breath. It was clear that she had not stopped to rest and warm up ever since she bagged her prey.
Alcina didn’t care about that, though; all that mattered was her beloved was safe, she would handle this feral monster soon enough. “Let us be,” she simply said to the servants as she carried her beloved in her arms, being her caretaker for the next week or two.
“Aaaaah,” the Reaper relaxed in a tub of hot water one day during her recovery. The water was a slight red tint, undoubtedly from her own wounds that were still open. It stung, but… having something nice and hot to clean those gaping injuries felt amazing. She hunkered down with a book to read when Alcina carefully stepped in with some clean clothes and tea. “Lady Alcina,” the Reaper grinned, revealing a row of shark-like teeth.
“My dear Reaper,” the castle’s mistress smiled warmly, setting the tea down next to her before kneeling down to plant a kiss on her lover’s cheek.
“Ah, thanks,” the Reaper eagerly took a sip. “Earl Grey, sweetened just right...~” she kissed Alcina back. “Sorry the tub is pretty… normal-sized, I’d invite you to join me,” the brunette vampire mutant giggled.
“Oh, don’t you worry. I’m just glad you’re safe,” the gargantuan woman held her love’s hand. “What an interesting book you have there. What’s that about?” she immediately knew it wasn’t from the castle’s library, it looked way too new.
“Oh, just stuff about Las Plagas. It’s always a fascinating topic, I really think you should at least check out some books on it,” the Reaper explained. “Even back in my mortal days, I was… always intrigued by the horror of parasites taking over your body. Reminds me of this one movie…” she was cut off by Alcina’s lips touching hers.
“You talk too much,” Alcina purred when she broke the kiss, “but no, really… tell me more. I know you like to hold strong on your little Los Iluminados and Umbrella Corporation conspiracy theory, so I’ll lend an ear this time to seriously consider the merit behind it.”
“You’re being awfully cuddly today, Lady Alcina~” the Reaper nuzzled, though she didn’t mind the extra special attention.
The lady of the castle gently squeezed the Reaper’s hand. “I love you, my darling,” she admitted. “I know, I always say that to you, but… this is different,” she leaned in to kiss her love on the cheek again, leaving behind another kiss mark.
“I know. It feels different than how you usually say it,” the Reaper nodded. “You really have no idea how happy it makes me hearing that from you, Lady Alcina.”
“I know, since you’re such a hopeless romantic,” the giant woman snorted in laughter, her crow’s feet bunching up. “Once you get patched up, we’ll enjoy a nice dinner… and, well, let’s just say, I missed having your tongue wiggling around inside me.”
“Hehe, I hope dinner’s as spicy as you’re being right now, Lady Alcina. I just miss being in your arms after sex, I feel… safe and comforted.”
“Are you sure it’s not because of my chest?” Alcina playfully rolled her eyes, knowing how much the Reaper loved sleeping on her breasts. “But really, not until you’re healed up. You look like you still have much healing to do,” she pointed at the slightly pinkish water and one of the Reaper’s rib wounds. “...Whoever attacked you deserved what they got. You’ll be pleased to see their head hanging on a mount by the castle door... No one gets to hurt what is mine and live.”

Unorganised thoughts on Trails of Cold Steel III:
...I’m gonna need like a week to process that
I guess I know why people hate George now!
Could really use a good old reset from KeA right now
This is the best game in the Cold Steel series so far. Easily
I... there’s no way they’re all really dead, right? This series has been completely toothless about killing anyone who isn’t a villain until now, no way they’re permanently killing someone who’s been here since practically day 1, no way. Show me a body
And even then I’ll doubt it with all these revivals happening all over the place
‘He’s HIDING’ I sob as I apply clown make-up
Ben Diskin did not need to go so hard on the voice acting at Millium’s death he did not need to do that to me
My god when Angie drove into the graveyard and my PS4 popped up a little notification telling me it was a blocked scene, the tension in me... and I never saw that coming, I’ll have to see if it was foreshadowed at all by replaying CS1 and 2 some time
I saw Lughman being a baddie a mile away (a mysterious professor turning out to be evil in a Trails game? UNPRECEDENTED!) but he’s Alisa’s dad!?
Neat writing trick actually, since they probably knew we’d guess the former, they blindside us with the latter
I can’t express how happy it made me that the Rufus battle was Machias Jusis Elliot. My dream team!
Estelle and Joshua got mentioned so much I figured they’d make a surprise appearance at the end and save the day
:(
So. Characters:
Rean: Rean is once again moderately more interesting than he was before, but still the least interesting person in the game. I guess he’s got some guilt that’s actually justified now, that’s cool?
I ship him with Crow, not because the pairing really appeals to me that much, but because being shipped with Crow would totally piss Rean off and I find that extremely funny
His relationship with Altina is the best relationship he’s ever had with a female character and it is 100% because she’s the only girl he’s never ship teased with
(I don’t have an issue with the concept of ship tease itself, I have an issue with Rean-ship tease because 1. I still truly do not understand why so many girls like him so much and 2. None of it will ever canonically go anywhere)
(Seriously I’m so tempted to write a breakdown of why every other guy in Erebonia is more desirable than Rean)
Juna: I like Juna. I realised early on that she and Kurt remind me of Estelle and Joshua, without being carbon copies, and that’s good. I also think her relationship with Rean was really interesting - ‘I don’t know how to feel about you because you saved my life, but it also wouldn’t have needed saving if it weren’t for your country’s actions, which you’ve played a major role in - but now I’m being forced to confront that you’re a human being too’ is a really complicated situation for her. It’s a lot more interesting than ‘I don’t like you because you accidentally got a face full of chest’, Alisa
I also really liked using her, I ended up loading her with the Platinum Pecky Medal and defensive stuff, and she was a wall, she took an S-craft from Arianrhod in her stride! My buff girl!
She should’ve just been the new protagonist ngl
Kurt: Kurt had a lot to live up to, seeing as his brother is my favourite minor character. And oh does he succeed, Kurt is my favourite of New VII, he’s a good straight man, he’s great in battle, I like his arc, I like his friendship with Juna, I like Kurt
Altina: I was not sure about Altina just... being a student now. But damn if she didn’t have the best character arc in the game. I only did her final bonding event on a whim, but it’s the best one I saw. My girl Allie deserves the damn world
I really, truly believe those three have a bond as well, they’re very well written as a group. This was a problem I had with Old VII, the fact that so many of them just... didn’t have relationships with each other. How do, say, Fie and Machias feel about each other? I have no idea. But this group has a fantastic dynamic and it makes that ending so much more effective
It’s like I praised Crossbell for, really - having a small core group is much more manageable in terms of giving them all equal screen time and getting me to care about them
Musse: Uh, kind of one-note and annoying, honestly. I don’t hate her or anything, but like... she’s either Being Mysterious or Hitting On Her Teacher (I hate it I hate it so much). It’s just hard to care about someone who’s clearly so fake, I guess? I’m definitely interested in her, but like... I don’t really like her
Ash: Poor boy. I thought Ash was such an interesting character (and man do I love having someone around who does not like Rean, and never really changes his mind about it). Ash is very well done imo
Alisa: Alisa is good when the issue is her family drama, and is so goddamn boring when it comes to Rean. Nothing new there
Elliot: I love his little ponytail I love it he’s so cute I want to hug him so bad
Laura: Winner of the ‘best new outfit’ award (was never that fond of her war outfit, but this one is perfect). Still good, but not notably so. I feel so bad for Laura, she tries so hard to matter, but she’s by far the character you’d have the easiest time lifting out of the game
And while I love Elliot... same situation really. You could go back to the start and have one character named Elliaura who likes swords and music and has two big-shot dads, and you wouldn’t lose much
Machias: Took down Rufus, yeah, destroy your best friend (boyfriend)’s evil family! Winner of the ‘worst new outfit’ award, AGAIN. Also winner of ‘dorkiest S-craft’. I did his final bonding event first, and according to Playstation trophies it’s the least popular one! Stop sleeping on my boy Machias guys, I know he was annoying in the first game but I love him :(
Gaius: Special award to Gaius for finally being interesting! Boy’s a Gralsritter now, did not see that coming!
And of course it happened off screen. Because god forbid interesting stuff happen to Gaius when we’re actually around
Oh also goddamn, that is a beautiful man
Emma: Don’t really like the new outfit. It’s kind of remarkable that she’s so important but I keep forgetting she exists. Exposition witch who sometimes just doesn’t deliver the exposition I guess
Fie: Still my fav girl. Wish there had been more focus on her feelings about her dad coming back to life. Like that she’s a bracer
Jusis: Wasn’t sure how to feel about his newly close friendship with Millium because I was concerned that I was meant to ship it (by far my least favourite thing about this franchise is that that was not an unreasonable concern, as it wouldn’t even be the most inappropriate relationship in this game alone). Very, very glad it was confirmed sibling-y (not that it’s stopped them before). He didn’t really get to do anything else, sadly, but he’s good as always
I did the Purebread contest with him, and he made bread from coffee beans Machias gave him, the Ferdibert Fire Emblem energy-
“What are you doing underneath this scarlet Pleroma Grass?”
Milliam: :(
Sara: Doesn’t get much to do because this cast is bloated but like, I still really like her :)
Towa: Someone needs to check on Towa all her friends are dead or evil the poor poor girl (or uh. I guess Crow isn’t... hmm.)
Angie :(
My kids Tita and Agate are back and completely overshadowed by people teasing this almost 30-year old man about being in love with a 17 year old that he’s only ever claimed to see as a sister, I swear to god
The orbal gear looks so goofy lol
Stop mentioning Schera as just being ‘totally here, just off screen, ha ha’ give her a model! Have her be here!
Don’t get me wrong, I loved seeing Josette again, I just don’t get... why? Why is she here?
Tio is back! And so is Randy, as a major character! I’m very very happy, I love them both
Michael’s fine, I guess? He’s kind of bland but I guess that’s kind of the point and I like him just fine. He serves his purpose well
I’ve never really liked Claire all that much, but she’s fine in this one again I suppose. A bit disappointed by the Lechter reveals really, I had expected more, to be honest
Aurelia is a fun character and I enjoy her as the principal. Want to see her fight Cassius
Want to see Cassius
I love my girl Annabelle, but she’s the only reason I didn’t get all the character profiles (how was I meant to know I could even go to the highway at that point hmmm Falcom!?)
They picked a good selection of returning Thors students. Even Dorothee isn’t as annoying as she used to be. Hilarious that she’s the only one who didn’t get a profile
Juna gave a great big speech about how awesome the SSS are and namedrops everyone EXCEPT WAZY! My FAVOURITE Crossbell character! So offensive!
Oh speaking of offensive I took Machias to the Mishy show and was told he and Rean did a Mishy dance but they didn’t show it, what the hell-
Playable Olivier! Olivier back story! I could write a goddamn essay on why Olivier is such a great character. Glaring at you Falcom
I miss Mueller :(
Ada Grant is wonderful and I want better things for her
Rufus is a damn great villain just because of how much sense his actions suddenly make when you know that one little detail of him not actually being Jusis’s brother
I hate Cedric but like, in a way where I’m having fun hating him. That little bitch
Literally what do you even actually want Osbourne
I still cannot stand Elise. Something I realised playing this game is that one of the things that stops the Estelle and Joshua relationship from being as weird as it could be is that they don’t look at all alike, it’s very clear they’re not related in the slightest. Elise and Rean look like they really could be siblings, and come to think, so do Lloyd and Cecile. Which is also teased, to a lesser extent. It would be so much less uncomfortable if they just swapped Elise and Alfin’s models ngl (though still not good)
inb4 the final plot twist of the whole series is that Estelle and Joshua actually were biological siblings all along
This game looks so much better than its predecessors. Having the models being a little rounder and softer looking makes it look much more like an updated version of the original style than the complete departure that was CS1 and 2. Every time there was a flashback, Rean would be like ‘back then...’ and I’d feel compelled to say out loud ‘when we were shiny, and looked bad!’
‘Evil ancient magic corrupts people into making them do bad things!’ is... honestly a bit of a cop out that I did not expect from this series
I found Rean telling Patrick ‘leave room for Aidios when dancing with my sister’ extremely funny. Rean would totally be a Christian summer camp counsellor in the real world
I honestly would have enjoyed it a lot more if Alfin decided to cause a scandal and have her first dance with Elise, but we can’t have such luxuries I suppose
When you get that book on dystopias, very clever to put the author on the last page. Seeing the name Gideon gave me such a start
Racquel was easily my fav new location
Leeves > Trista no doubt, maybe I’m just biased because it looks a lot like the village I grew up in but it’s just such a nicer design
Also the branch campus > main campus purely for being smaller, making the filler segments between field trips more bearable
I prefer the longer but fewer chapters set-up, I think
There’s so many sad faces in this write up :(
Back when I played Sky SC, I said something about how one of the themes is ‘you are not defined by your trauma’. I now think it would be more accurate to say that the theme of all the games (but especially the Sky arc) is ‘don’t let your worst experiences define you’
Because there are characters who define themselves by their traumas and worst experiences - and those characters are all villains, or miserable, or both. Like, they don’t phrase it as such, but the requirement to be an Ouroboros enforcer is ‘have trauma and define yourself by it’
And both Joshua and Renne’s arcs are about learning not to do that
Equally, the idea that ‘it’s much easier to not to define yourself by your trauma when you have a good support system that wants the best for you’ is a big theme as well
I just think that’s a really interesting idea for a JRPG series to tackle, idk
I can’t believe I’m at the last game! This series has been my life for the past near-half a year, what do I do when I finish it?
...go back and play Sky FC, maybe?

Every Boros Commander, Part 2
Where we last left off, I was shitting on Adriana, Captain of the Guard, who gives ACAB a pretty different meaning. Fortunately, most of the pickings this time aren’t quite as dire.
Depala, Pilot Exemplar (3rd most played as of writing)
Holy shit, a Boros commander with card advantage? It’s niche, but it was a first. Being limited to Dwarves and Vehicles does leave her with a problem a lot of commanders and tribes tend to have, which is being just a smidge under critical mass- but with the upcoming Kaldheim appearing to support Dwarves, and vehicles appearing to be a deciduous mechanic, I feel like it won’t be long before Depala is as powerful as her placement suggests. She is niche and mana-hungry, but basically the only Vehicle commander (and definitely the only Dwarf commander at the moment), so I suspect she’s here to stay for a while.
Tiana, Ship’s Caretaker (15th most played as of writing)
Tiana is possibly my favourite character lorewise in all of magic, frankly. She’s cool and cute and a massive dork and also someone who found her purpose in life, and frankly I love that for her.
She’s also a really interesting commander to build around, seeing as she has a unique brand of card advantage that leads to the addition of old and weird cards, which I’m always a fan of. I should really get around to building a Tiana deck, to be honest, though I already have 10 commander decks with an 11th in progress, sooooo…
Firesong and Sunspeaker (4th most played as of writing)
I’m surprised to see F&S this high, but the first unique Buy-a-Box card did expand into an archetype previously unseen in the combination in the form of Boros Spellslinger (Dalakos would later return the favour as an Izzet Equipment commander). Previously, you had to go into Pauper EDH and play fellow Minotaur Blaze Commando for this kinda deck. Like Depala, F&S are heavily played despite being niche, though the also have the benefit of being a RW minotaur commander, if you want to play White instead of Black in that deck for…some reason? The siren moo of Boros Reckoner speaks to us all, I suppose.
Sylvia Brightspear and Khorvath Brightflame (17th most played as of writing)
The only partner pair I’m discussing today on account of their monogamy. Knights and Dragons make a weird combination, seeing as there are basically no other cards that help them work together rather than apart. You could almost run them as a goodstuff deck if you wanted, seeing as many of Boros’s best creatures are Knights or Dragons, but largely I think sticking to one or the other is probably for the best. With that in mind, the pair are actually the only real commanders for either tribe within Boros- the only other Dragon is something we’ll get to, and the only knight is…Adriana…so…. The buffs given by either pair are excellent, and not something that either tribe gets easy access to typically, so I can see the appeal of them in that slot. At that point, the extra commander is just a bonus.
Aurelia, Exemplar of Justice (21st most played as of writing)
Oh, another Aurelia, and she’s worse this time. In seriousness, her ability looks like its likely to be targeting herself most of the time, and Mentor just doesn’t do enough in this format. She has enough keywords and power to Voltron, but I’m not expecting much interesting from her outside of that.
Tajic, Legion’s Edge (18th most played as of writing)
Tajic has 4 separate lines of text for some reason, and only one (ok fine two haste is nice) actually matters. Having a damage prevention effect is nice in the zone, but it doesn’t apply to himself, so if you’re planning on turning mass damage one-sided you’re going to need to protect him still. And like, what else does he do? He’s not a good aggro commander at all, his last ability is a joke, why are people playing this card? If I was in a mass damage deck I’d just play Gisela, at least she does something on the off chance she survives. Probably no-one is gonna go out of the way to kill Tajic, at least. Beats out Aurelia for biggest downgrade, imo, even if Aurelia fell from higher.
Feather, the Redeemed (Number 1 most played at time of writing)
Feather is the most popular Boros commander, by over triple the next most popular. It’s not hard to see why: she’s a cheap commander that turns any targeted cantrip into a draw engine, she synergises with so many random powerful cards that you can build her a fair few different ways, and she’s a cool story character getting a card 12ish years after her appearance in the Ravnica novels. She does so much and is so interesting that it’s completely understandable that she’s as huge as she is. I’m still never going to build her though, even with my funky Japanese copies, if only because I’m too much of a hipster.
Gerrard, Weatherlight Hero (13th most played as of writing)
Kinda funny that Gerrard’s little text that made him work in the command zone until recent rules changes is now a strict downside. Gerrard has his niche, with a Second Sunrise in the zone unsurprisingly supporting Eggs decks rather nicely, and synergising with a lot of just random bullshit. I’d probably never build him, and it seems pretty easy to make it degenerate, but I’m glad he’s here and he’s certainly better than the first iteration of the character.
Haktos, the Unscarred (12th most played as of writing)
I’m kinda surprised to see Achilles this high, considering how recent he is. He reminds me a lot of Progenitus, oddly enough, as a commander that would be good at Voltron but can’t get buffed easily by traditional means. I think adding equipment on the off-chance that it fits his heel is a complete mistake, but things like Silverblade Paladin and Exalted cards do exist, so fair play. He’s pretty hard to kill unless you’re boardwiping, and even then damage-based ones probably miss, so I can see the value in that. But that mana cost hurts to look at- hitting 2 mana of 2 different colours on turn 4 was a pain back when I played Trostani, and that was a green deck.
Stet, Draconic Proofreader (No data available)
Okay look, I tried so hard to find a way to abuse this dork’s ability but there’s just no good way to do it. Stet sucks hard enough that even if you are playing with Silver-Bordered cards legal I just don’t know why you’d ever run it. His art is pretty funny, I’ll give it that. We got Alexander bloody Clamilton and Surgeon Commander in the same cycle, keep in mind.
Winota, Joiner of Forces (2nd most played as of writing)
Having menaced standard, Winota is still pretty decent as a commander, even without access to her 7-mana blue payload. There actually aren’t that many beefy humans to cheat out in general, but considering how easy it is to enable her ability and the fact that she digs *6 cards deep* on trigger, I think you just kinda end up swarming the board distressingly easy with her deck. It’s shocking to see a card from 2020 in the top 5 like this, considering how the year has gone for the format in general, but like. 6 cards.
Zirda, the Dawnwaker (8th most played as of writing)
Look it combos with Basalt/Grim monolith in the command zone isn’t that neat. Zirda is pretty open-ended, but not especially powerful outside of the aforementioned combo. I find them much more appealing in the Companion slot, frankly. With that said, I do like that Boros is the colour pair getting access to Training Grounds in the zone, seeing as it works well with its other themes (Equipment mostly) and opens new archetypes (Cycling, etc.) up as possibilities.
Akiri, Fearless Voyager (7th most played as of writing)
Haha, Brion has more decks than Akiri. That’s probably since it only released a few months ago. Of course, I’m not including the other Akiri, so this is the first time we’ve seen her on the list. But apart from that, Akiri was somehow the first of these commanders to actually say “draw” on it. Her synergies with Living Weapon (and the recent equipment cards that do the same) are pretty sick, though her second ability will end up costing a lot of mana over time if you have to use it. I think its hilarious how much more value this gives you than Adriana for doing the thing Adriana wants you to do, at 2 less mana.
Also, she’s probably the best general for Kor tribal? I guess you could go Akiri/Black partner so you can play Orah in the deck. Someone build this! Kor like equipment, Akiri likes equipment, lets go.
It’s only just occurred to me that Akiri gives you more for attacking other players than Adriana does. Fuckin hell, man.
Bell Borca, Spectral Sergeant (25th most played as of writing)
Bell finally getting a card 15 years after his fictional death was a welcome treat, but the exile-related ability is frankly awkward and abusing it to 1 or 2 hit commander damage is pretty difficult. Still, having impulse draw in the zone makes him probably just the best generic #goodstuff commander. I’m surprised he’s as low as he is, but he only released a month ago (at time of writing) and we got an absolute stack of legends (including 2 other Boros ones and the partners) in the same set.
Reyav, Master Smith (28th most played as of writing)
Reyav is neat since he combines 2 of Boros’s more traditional archetypes, being Aggro and Voltron, into one damage doubling dwarf. I suspect his lack of play is again due to the other legends in the same set and that it only dropped a month ago, because there’s no way he deserves to be below Munda. Also, he’s 2 mana! The only other 2CMC Boros Legend is partner Akiri! How did that happen? I think he deserves better. You can suit him up and get dunking real quick.
Wyleth, Soul of Steel (16th most played as of writing)
Our final general is Boros’s second ever Precon commander, and the only one with flavour text. He’s got the space for it, considering how much work that second line is doing. I appreciate that Wyleth, despite being superficially similar to Akiri, plays pretty differently, as he prefers Voltron while she prefers spreading equipment out. I assume Wyleth would be a lot higher if the precon itself was included, but there’s no way of knowing how many people are playing just the base deck, so who knows.
A CHALLENGER APPROACHES!!!
Koll, the Forgemaster (no data available) This bloke got spoiled between me writing most of this and going to publish it. I can see a few easy combos with his first ability, especially seeing as Grafted Wargear is a card. Playing fairly though, his first ability feels kinda slow, and not being able to protect himself is a huge drag. The second ability feels kinda stapled on, as its a way of giving you a bonus since the first one doesn’t do shit for tokens. But like, just don’t equip them, lmao. Awkward, but has potential.
And that’s the lot of them! Uhhhh yeah that’s all I’ve got, stan Tiana kthnxbai

Mercy Street in a Minute - Episode by Episode
Three gifs [below the headline, not counting the one above it this time], and some sentences.
We’ll call Episode Two: What kind of a sack was it we were talking about?
- or -
This show has such a wealth of characters let’s start learning about some more right away.
- or -
Haversack? I barely know her!
Set not too long (perhaps even the next day) after the events of Episode One (actual title: The New Nurse), a great deal of applause and appreciation has to go to Mary Phinney for spending the night(s) on the floor among the arsenic and rats in the converted Mansion House’s hospital ward, as well as NOT EVEN UNTIGHTENING HER STAYS [*seriously, are we meant to believe the ladies here can dress themselves without assistance?].
In short order we find out Tom (above) was Emma Green’s sister’s beau (that’s Alice, who you can easily pick out as being the show’s only blonde female [go, show!]), as the Green family is, and I am not exaggerating, pretty much related to or relational to(ward) every Confederate ever shown on the series.
I mean, I’m not saying that the Green family single-handedly gave birth to the entire Confederate cause, and that they are therefore the literal Imperial family of the America South, but...the facts are the facts.
Dr. Hale suspects it...
Above, you will see two characters, Dr. Byron Hale, and Nurse Anne Hastings, and what I can tell you about them is that it is going to be a RIDE with these two. They’re essentially stretcher-chasers, in the sense that they jump from conflict to conflict, doctoring and nursing soldiers. This is not their first rodeo, and is unlikely to be their last. (Unless jealousy and over-invoking the name of Florence Nightengale can kill you.)
You may revile them one minute, but wait a second minute and you’ll feel something very different about these two made-for-each-other-because-surely-no-one-else-will-have-them jiggling masses of insecurity and constantly fluctuating power dynamics. The actors that portray them deserve lots of money, or if they prefer, accolades.
They exist to devil everyone, each other, but most targetedly Mary Phinney and Dr. Foster. So long as Dr. Hale can stuff down his knee-jerk infatuation with Mary’s take-charge attitude, and Nurse Hastings doesn’t get in her head that seducing Dr. Foster might better serve her cause.
Say it with me: Sam and Aurelia are not a couple.
Sam was born free, up north. Aurelia is a ‘contraband’, an emancipated slave who still had to escape from her master and come to Alexandria. She works for a wage at the hospital as a laundress. Sam is...an orderly? We’re not told if he gets paid, but we are perhaps meant to assume so. He’s a general man-of-all-work at Mansion House. But he has a SECRET.
So does Aurelia. And I’m not going to spill them to you in just the second episode.
Basically, Sam is smart enough to know that Mary Phinney is the main character in this show, and he does a good bit of following her around and assisting her as a supporting character should. He’s intelligent and well-spoken and gives off an innate sense of his dignity, and may be one of the few characters on the show that listens to people.
So, naturally, his future looks murky.
Emma (terror in a hoopskirt) agrees to hide wounded, captured Rebel Tom’s haversack/messenger bag back at the Green home (filled with Union soldiers), and does a terrible job of it, so Alice finds it and knows she’s been lied to. Emma (hopefully) realizes she’s going to have to step it up where her obfuscation skills are concerned.
Emma also yells at the resident chaplain for, like, trying to reasonably subdue Tom, because with all her years of psychology schooling, and her prior afternoon of getting (only) Tom water at the hospital, she knows best about such things.
Dr. Foster’s wife makes a 0.3 second appearance to have a temper tantrum on him that, because of the brevity of it and of her existence in the storyline, makes her look incredibly short-sighted and unreasonable, and allows me to even refer to it as a temper tantrum and conveniently (for him and for us) leaves Alexandria to move herself out West in a huff. #mrsfosterout, and so we now know that he is at least free to start taking applications from others interested in the role, and check out USCivilWarTinder.
Hey, you know what would be convenient for him? A woman who works at the hospital he never feels inclined to leave, who understands something of medicine and who is eternally patient, reasoned, manipulative when called for, and who is really very pretty, no matter what they said in that first episode.
In fact, Mrs. Foster’s appearance is so negligible to the story that I cannot find any gifs of her online (and in fact, other than to show him as a personal life/romantic life failure I’m not sure why she had to exist at all), so I will leave this lovely rendering of the Greens here at the end instead.
Seize the moments together when you can Greens! There is comin’ a day...
You can find Mercy Street (in the US) on Amazon Prime. There are two seasons of six episodes each.

So how do I start with my little whirlwind. ... I don't want to start with her like I started with Art. ... Let's see....
You could call Arianna the unofficial child of Nesta and Cassian, because she is personality wise a lot like a cross between them. Like Nesta, Ari acts and is a total Queen. She is "hard" on the outside, hiding her softer side behind a mask. And like Cassian, she is loud, inappropriately joking and teasing and is good at fighting.
Arianna loves attention and being in the spotlight. She loves being better than everyone else. It makes her feel really good about herself. And since Ari is very confident and slightly narcissistic, all of this fuels her huge Ego. She likes to brag, to show everybody how good she is and how much better she is than everybody else. But she also works really hard to be better than everyone else. And she is also very competitive and lives for winning. She will also never give up until she can do something perfectly. But she also doesn't care about the opinion of others, she herself just needs to know that she is better.
And she really doesn't care what people think about her. She did care when she was young, she wanted everybody to love her and fawn over her, and applaud and compliment her. Which was never that hard to get, since she was - at that point - the only princess of Night. And everybody spoiled her for it. But in the Illyrian training camps, she learned the hard way that not everbody will spoil her. So she toughend up and learned that the opinions of others didn't matter.
Which is a good thing because Ari has two major reputations. Both don't really put her in good lights.
The first one is, that she is infamously called - behind closed doors and in hushed tones - "The Slut of Velaris/the Night Court". She doesn't like the name, but she doesn't give a flying fuck about what other people think about her or her (former) sex life. It's her life and she doesn't have to do anything for anyone. So yes before she has accepted her Mating bond with Rubin and married him, she hooked up a lot, had a lot of One Night Stands and had a lot of Lovers. She wasn't in a relationship with anyone because she liked her freedom. And having sex with a lot of different people, was fun for her and she liked it. A rumor is that she slept with half of the training camp she was training at. But this rumor is false, she only slept with one fourth of the Camp, because most of them where total assholes or she wasn't really interested.
If Ari found someone sexually attractive and that someone was not a complete douche, there was a good chance that she would have hooked up with you. Neither the Gender nor the race of that someone mattered. Ari doesn't care about these silly notions. And if the sex was great, Ari would have seeked out that someone more often after that.
The second one is that she is a hot- and Short-tempered female, that is violent and only understands fighting und brutality. Also that only violence and hearing someone scream will delight her. People especially of the courts and Hewn city think of her as a impulsive and aggressive female, that knows nothing about and is to simple minded for politics. However most of this false, because that is what Ari wants people to think about her. It is her mask to hid herself behind (which she copied to a degree from her older brother Artemas. But this is also the reason why they (Asteria included) are called "The Masked Graces" in insider circles (a.k.a. Family and friends), because Art-Ari-Asta like to hide their true selfs to let people underestimate them and think that they can play them easily, and be shocked when they realized how much they just fucked up.). She likes when people let her guard down around her.
But in reality Arianna is kind and polite to people around her, she is very open-minded and really patient. Someone could insult her to her face for hours and she will not pay attention to them. But if you insult or disrespect some else especially her loved ones or someone undeserving of that treatment, oh boy you can say good bye to your unbroken bones and your ability to walk for the next few months, because Ari will break you, oh she will break you hard and painfully. She will not kill (probably, it depends), since she isn't an outright killer outside of wars. But still you would have fucked up so bad. Ari will be respectful, open-minded, nice and polite to everyone, as long as nobody disrespect or insult her first. She will not go off on them, but she will be rude, crude and sometimes insulting to them.
She also doesn't like to be unnecessarily ordered around. There are situations were she can recognize that the orders are important and nothing against her personally or not to order her around, because someone sees themself above her (like in an important situation where other people know more than her or in wars). But otherwise orders are not something she tolerates, especially when they come from some douchebag/ass or some who looks down on her. Than her reaction is pretty similar to when some insults someone she loves or someone who doesn't deserve the insults. But in this situation she will intimidate them first and make them either cry or pee themselves, regret making that comment. And than it depends on their response, she will either break some of their bones or let them go with a warning.
Fun story: Once on a Family-Visit to Hewn City, after the Feysand Family made a badass entrance and took positions in their Thrones. Keir started to fill them in, but after a while Keir hinted to Rhys in a very obviously manner that it would a good idea to marry off the princesses (Ari was 100 and Asta was 39), since both are off age now. Both Feyre and Rhys were shocked and disgusted about that, but before they could reprime him. Ari had already shoot out of her throne and started to beat up Keir and break half of his bones. It was a brutal sight. (and Art was so proud and according to him, that event in a whole was the most entertaining thing that happened that year) After that she winnowed with Keir to the peak of Hewn City and throw him down. After Keir hit the ground, he was slowly losing concussions, but Ari was keeping him awake with her deameti powers while she picked him up and winnowed back into the throne room. She throw him into the ground, took her place on her throne and ordered that he will heal naturally without any magical help and that nobody will ever again adresse that topic again or they will receive the same treatment. Of course everybody was looking speechlessly at Rhys and they were hoping he would reprime his unruly daughter and punish her for that. But Rhys only lifted a bored groomed eyebrow and asked them if they were deaf, because they just clearly got an order. And so Ari solved the whole arranged marriage situation for her and Asta.
Ari loves fighting, training and sparing. And she does these things almost daily. She usually trains two times a day. Ari is buff. Not at a first glance, but she has a six-pack and is seriously muscled. She loves exercising and working off her energy. She really loves physical excising.
Because of that, the Illyrian training camp was partly a blast for her, especially after she came to turn with her not being coddled and spoiled anymore. And since Ari is competitive by nature, she worked very hard to be recognized as a real opponent and thread. And she eventually ended up being just that. She was also very competitive with Echo about being the Best, but Echo beat her everytime. The closest Ari ever came to victory against Echo were draws in the beginning, but Echo just got better and better than Ari. Ari got better and better too, but it never was enough. And now Ari rarely will get a draw. Ari still is one of the best Fighter in both the Night and Autumn Court. And she is truly feared by everyone for that.
Yes, Ari and Echo did partake in the Bloodrite. They started both on different locations and first thing they did was search for each other. And after defeating a lot of opponents while searching for the other, they found each other. Then after that they started to act out their plan. Which was to the defeat as many other Illyrians as possible in 10 Days. Whoever has defeated more, will be finishing the bloodrite first. And after 4 days they decided to not give a fuck about being faster than their fathers and to give a fuck about beating almost all of the participants of the bloodrite. And they successfully completed the bloodrite one week longer than Rhys, Cass and Az, but they have beaten up 86% of the 86% of all the Illyrians they encountered. So they set up a new record.
"Fun" story:
Originally from here and edited
From here ...
Ari is the only child of feysand who actually likes fighting and had gone through the training camps very successfully, like one of the best. She loves physical fighting more than magical fights. Both her older brother Artemas, who in the beginning disliked close-combat and later avoided it like a plague, ended his training just barely within the standards and later never really did anything to anger the other Illyrians and they were also very afraid of him, and her little sister Asteria, who never sat a foot in the camps longer than she needed to and was trained together with Cleon by Ari, Cass, Cad, and whoever had free time at the moment at home, couldn't be the target of the old-traditional Illyrians who wanted a bit power back over both the females, because they rose to higher ranks faster and faster, and over the High Lord and High Lady and with that the ruling family. And with that Ari was one of their greatest fears because 1. She is an almost unbeatable female (Ari is only beaten by Cass sometimes, both Art's future General Commander Marcella and Commander Nikos and her best friend Echo) and 2. She is the daughter of the High Lord and Lady and Princess of Night and has with that ruling power over them.
It took a few decades but one day the "traditionals" had more than half of the Illyrians behind them. And they did kind of a protest on one of the visit of Rhys, Cass, Cad, Art and Ari (normally Ari wouldn't be with them but she was bored and wanted to visit some friends).
So they protested that Ari should have her wings clipped, because she has too much power for a "quarter"-breed (they actually wanted to use the word "abomination" but they also knew that would be their sure death and no results will come of that) but before either side could react ( Rhys, Cass, Cad and Art were shocked and angry) or continue with their ultimatum (the "traditional" had prepared a whole speech with conditions, consequences, benefits and all that bullshit), Ari stepped forward slammed her sword into the ground and preposed a Bargain.
It would be tournament-like, she would fight anyone who wanted her wings gone without real breaks and the one who would beat her can clip her wings off, but for that they will never protest about that especially over Asta's Wings. But if she wins all the fights or they give up, her wings will stay and that topic will never be discussed nor protested by anyone ever again. (There were some others rules like no killing, no use of magic or siphons and only one sword each etc.)
So the "traditionals" thought about it and agreed bc she can't fight and win forever. They could than at least cut a bit of her "power" off. Rhys let her do it because he knew she had a plan - what she actually planed to do he didn't know - but it was her choice even if he wasn't that happy with it and he was also a little confused.
So the tournament began shortly after the agreement and the "traditionals" have formed a strategy they start with "good" fighters to wear her done and go slowly over to their "best" fighters until one of them wins. Ari was mostly just angry not because of her Wings but that most of the Illyrians are such sexists, and amused by the whole situation in general.
So the first fight began and within 30 second Ari had not only won but also chopped/slayed the wings of her opponent off, who was lying on the ground, too stunt to react. Everyone was absolutely shocked, some were proud (you know Rhys Cass etc) and some horrified (the "traditionals"). The "traditionals" started to protest that that was against the bargain and the agreement, but Art had shut them down before they could even start and informed them, that cutting off the opponents wings while fighting was not stated as a restriction in the agreement and was therefore completely within Ari's rights to do. And with that they angrily accepted it (becausec when Art says that something is either not against the rules or is a loophole in itself, you should listen bc he's always right about that and also quite famous for finding loopholes in general).
So now the "traditionals" were a little bit more nervous about the bargain but they figured if she can do that and than they can as well. So they send one of their "best" next, one Ari at this point had not fought against yet and they were pretty sure he could beat her or at least cut her wings off.
This fight had the same result as the first one only just a little bit longer (over a minute). Now most of the followers of the "traditionals" got really nervous and scared, they wanted to give up and cut their loses before the situation could escalate farther in the worst direction for them because neither Rhys nor Art looked any kind of happy (internally they were proud) and that Art could possibly find a loophole to cut of all their wings as a form of punishment for defiance. But one of the most Vocal of the "traditionals", a camp-lord, called them weaklings and cowards and a shame for the Illyrians traditions and walked up to Ari. They fought and he insulted Ari and female Illyrians the whole fight through. And for that he not only lost his wings but also got both his arms and legs shattered. There's a reason why she is called "Bonebreaker". It's because she ends most fights with breaking the bones of her opponents except for friendly spares and some other fights.
Now that made almost all of the"traditionals" scared of her even more and they were debating to actually give up but they were still not entirely convinced but then Ari made a proposal that she would fight against three at once.
With that their confidence grow a little because they never seen her fight against three at once and thought that maybe at least one of them could chop of her wings when she is distracted with the other two. So they agreed.
Well what they didn't know was that Ari could fight against three at once with ease. The maximum number of opponents she can fight against at once and come out victorious was five at that time. So with that the fight didn't end much different than the first it just took her longer. Ari defeated them and slayed off their Wings in like 5 minutes.
At that point in total Ari fashion she growled at them and taunted them but that didn't work because the "traditionals" saw the uselessness of the whole situation for them and their inevitable crushing defeat by a spoilt, foul-mouthed, untameable, smug 112-year-old female ("abomination") "quarter"-breed. That would completly destroy their pride even more than it already was. So they give up in the most "honourable" way possible, with as much unwillingness and grunting as possible.
And with that Ari solved the whole problem with the "traditionals" and the wing clipping in her own totally Ari Way™ and neither Rhys nor later Art ever had any real big problems with them again. And all credit goes to Ari for that. She is going to be smug about it forever.
And with that the rumours spread and it wasn't long before she was known as the "Illyrian's nightmare" in the Night court and some parts of Prythian and "Wing-Slayer" in whole of Prythian.
But now comes the real kicker, the reason why Ari was amused and Rhys was mostly confused...
...
...
...
...
...
...is that Ari was actually born without wings. The reason she has wings is because she saw her mom Feyre shape-shift wings for herself when she was 4 and thought if mommy can make herself wings even if she shouldn't have them than I can do that too. So a 4-year-old Ari stomped her foot, growled and pouted in concentration and grow herself wings not long after. After that you could see her dance and jump around the house and Velaris to show everyone her wings. Everyone complimented her and she was so proud and happy. From that day forward Ari would wear her wings open everywhere until everyone had forgotten that she actually doesn't have wings in the first place. She only glamours/shapeshifts them away for parties, sex or when they are in the way.
So the whole situation was kinda ironic but also complete unnecessary because Ari doesn't have wings to clip off, so Ari just kicked their sexist asses for fun and to give them a lesson in how to treat her and most importantly other females. And also to give them a taste of their on medicine.
...to here.
Yes as a Child and when she was young, not having wings in a family like hers, really irked her and she didn't like being reminded of that. It made her really sad, since she couldn't fly on her own or with her brother. It was kinda her dream being able to fly on her own. And made her unbelievably happy to being able to shapeshift her own Wings.
Fun story: Art was the one who taught her how to fly. And Art did that by throwing her of a cliff. Have no worries, Ari was not one second in any real dangers. Art has set a lot of safety spells beforehand and had kept an eye on her fall down, always ready to winnow down and catch her. But in the last second Ari figured out how to glide down and stop her fall. Ari wasn't even mad at him, she found this teaching method a lot of fun. And agreed to not tell their parents about, because bith Feyre and Rhys wouldn't have been ok with it. So they continued their training and after a few months Ari was mostly done with everything important about flying. It was just a bit fine-tuning left. Of course some centuries later Ari and Art told in heat the story to Feyre and Rhys. Both didn't know how to react to that, since they couldn't "punish" Art anymore since it was so long ago. So they just accepted it.
But just as she learned discipline and patience, Ari slowly learned that being able to be rattled about that, is a useless and deadly. So she just decided to never really correct anyone about her wings. She just let's them think whatever they want, which is exactly her attitude towards everything.
Ok I think that would be enough for now. It's still not everything, but I think almost 2k words w/o the "copied and pasted" story and almost 3.5k with it.
I love her so much. She so amazing and awesome and badass. She is my Queen.
If you have any questions regarding her or any other character, please feel free to ask. I would love to answer them.

Spartacus: Vengeance Rewatch - Episode 1: Fugitivus
Sex Scene: All of them. They went to a whorehouse.
“Cock”: 4
“Cunt”: 2
“Kill Them All”: 0 (I wonder if this is said at all in S2 or 3)
“Fucking Gaul”: 3
Slow motion Face Punch:0
Episode Name Dropped by: Aurelia
Memorable Death: Aurelia
Favourite Line: “We must stand as one, or fall divided.”
- This is the greatest way they could have introduced the new Spartacus actor. It was amazing.
- Spartacus facing down that horse is beautiful.
- AGRON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- DONAR!! =]
- He’s still throwing his bloody sword.
- I love that Donar has this axe thing, it’s awesome and sets him apart from the other gladiators.
- This beginning fight scene is so well done.
- Agron oh gosh. He’s so angry, so crazed by his grief. Everyone is so wary of him, but like he lost his brother. My poor baby.
- “I believe the man dead.” – the moment I fell in love with Donar and his bromance with Agron.
- I can always rely on Agron to say “cock”
- Spartacus has never really been a savage until right now when he carves a message into a dead guy’s chest. Seriously, wtf.
- I’m so in love with Agron’s necklace.
- Ha! Rome, it looks like it’s still being built. That’s hilarious.
- Pompey mention!
- What is with all those masks?! How fucking creepy.
- “Where youth plummets, maturity may soar.”
- As someone who hasn’t ever paid any interest in wars, all this undoubtedly historically accurate war talk is super boring.
- Everyone under the sun is named Marcus
- Varinius!! BAHAHAHAHAHAHA oh man, seriously. Just, Brett Tucker is an Aussie actor that has been in basically everything! I can’t take him seriously.
- AND HE FUCKING SAID MONGRELS!
- Seriously this triangle between Ilithyia, Varinius, and Glaber is basically the entire subplot of S2.
- The one thing I get super bored of in Spartacus is men and their egos.
- Mira is literally in the sewers and she’s still a queen.
- Oh hey, the Veteran!
- The kid that says “I will kill many Romans” looks like Tyler Lockwood from Vampire Diaries.
- You can actually see Mira’s face fall when Aurelia comes into view. Like she knows that when Aurelia is around Spartacus can see no one else. It’s not a romantic thing, it’s a Varro thing.
- Agron and Donar bromance, I love it. Almost makes up for Duro’s death, almost.
- The Gauls are mostly comprised of New Zealanders – just an observation.
- I sometimes can’t believe that the gladiators treat the house slaves so poorly and sometimes don’t seem to give a fuck about any slaves still in chains.
- “Rabbits” - I still don’t understand this.
- Oh, Acer.
- Yessss Mira!!!!!
- Oh the showdown between the Gauls and the rest of the slaves is so intense and beautifully done.
- I really like that even with the new actor they still put all the same scars on him. Good job.
- Oh gosh. Mira loves Spartacus so much…..and S2 Spartacus clearly cares for her way more than he did in S1, but still. She deserves better.
- “I have proven troublesome to kill.”
- Gah, the thing with Spartacus in S2 is he cares more about killing Romans than protecting the other slaves. At least Mira and even Agron are there to pick up the slack.
- “I hear you wish to command my men.” – when I first heard this I thought it very antagonistic, like the fractions were splitting apart. But it’s more of Spartacus being the head honcho, and Crixus being a General that leads his own fraction but still reports to Spartacus. Warfare is not my thing but I’m learning.
- Yeah, because a curtain is going to give you so much privacy. Everyone can still hear you guys.
- “Did his blood bear fruit?”
- Trebius! Ah!
- Arena games!!! Oh how I miss you!
- Seppia really freaking frustrates me. She is so childish and has no idea the kinds of games she’s playing. She’s a fool.
- Seppius and Seppia are fucking right? That’s what they’re implying? A whole bunch of incest? I wanna hate it but I can see it.
- I don’t understand how the gladiator fights could be boring? Or how Batiatus’ gladiators could have made it more entertaining? You’re still watching two dudes kill each other.
- I haven’t even watch Star Wars but Oenomaus in that cloak gives me Jedi vibes.
- That guy in the alley gives me Pirates of The Caribbean vibes.
- On one hand whenever I see Oenomaus I’m like “Don’t hurt this precious baby.” But then again “Hell yes baby you kick their asses!”
- Holy shit!!!!!!!!!!! Arm bone through the skin!!!!!!! Shit! Knife through the eye!!!!! Ah! Right through the jaw!!!!! Oenomaus is such a badass!
- Aurelia talking about how much she wants to go back to Janis. Well, you shouldn’t have left him in the first place! Her pride was as foolish as any man’s.
- “That lopsided grin. Eye’s promising mischief. I’ve seen in many times, upon his father.” –seriously my shipper heart. Spartacus loved Varro, it’s canon.
- “I fell to love the crooked bend of Varro's lips long before the man himself.” “As did I.” – IT’S MOTHERFLIPPING CANON I TELL YOU.
- I mean Spartacus can be a kind man when he wants to. He’s just very single minded.
- Gotta give their art department props. Having a fake pregnant woman be naked, and it look real….like damn, they deserve a pat on the back.
- I am loving Ilithyia’s purple gown thing though, wowzah.
- Marcus Crassus mention again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- “She was a fucking bitch” – I find that fucking hilarious.
- Agron said bleat! Goat reference! My shipper heart!
- Wow, Spartacus said “whores” somehow that’s more shocking than anything else on this show.
- I love Agron’s loyalty to Spartacus but I wish Spartacus would see it too. In this season and the next he kind of treats Agron like crap.
- “You had me at whores.” – I love Donar.
- “Avoid unnecessary risk.” Sparty, baby, do you realise who you talking to?!
- Loving the idea of Mira, Donar, and Agron planning behind Spartacus’ back. These are the people who want to protect the other slaves, not spend every day covered in Roman blood.
- “As are all things, in pursuit of a woman.” Gotta love the salty gay trope. Agron pulls it off swimmingly.
- “I will tell Janis of you. Of the man who loved his father above all others.” CANON. I really didn’t ship Spartacus and Varro this much the first time around.
- “I gave my word. Blood and Honour. It yet speaks to the man.” as said in S1.
- Gladiators in hoods is everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Woman with a massive dildo fucking a dude. Yep.
- Oh! I think this is the first penis shots we’ve had in a while.
- Guy on Guy sex. Well then. So much gay sex in this series, it’s glorious.
- The four guys throwing the girl around makes me super fucking uncomfortable, especially when you can hear her. She is so not enjoying this.
- Another memorable death = dude jerking off and just as he’s about to finish, gets a sword through his throat.
- It’s gotta suck so bad for all these guys that are dying with their dicks out. Especially that guy that got a sword right between the legs. Ouch.
- Never noticed but there’s a very very large woman in the whorehouse and a skinny guy on all fours in front of her. I’m so curious about what’s happening there.
- How many innocent body slaves died in this attack???
- Poor boy with cum all over his face.
- Trebius is so fucking disgusting. Peeing all over that girl.
- I get that this girl is probably horrendously traumatized but she really have to go and kill the only lead they had to Naevia.
- AGRON KICKING THE SHIT OUTTA TREBIUS COS HE SOLD HIM AND DURO TO BATIATUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahh my heart!
- I seriously hate Spartacus in this scene and it kind of tainted him for me. He’s telling Agron that he can’t kill Trebius as revenge for Duro, BUT THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT SPARTACUS IS DOING WITH GLABER! He’s such a fucking hypocrite!
- Crixus sticking his hand inside Trebius’ gut is so gross.
- I get that Glaber is angry at Ilithyia but she clearly has some PTSD that is triggered by that house and he’s forcing her to stay there. Not cool.
- OVER THE CLIFF!! Yes Ilithyia!
- There’s no logical reason for that mask to be there, except to provoke memories.
- Flashback penis.
- I never noticed but Ilithyia has a really big mouth.
- I honestly thought the figure was gonna be Spartacus, I was so surprised to see Lucretia.
- Lucretia being out of her freaking mind is magical. All the props to the actress.
- “What fragments her shattered mind yet holds.”
- Seriously, the male ego.
- Old woman slave = headcanon that she ran the whole Battiatus household. Also, that young boy slave is super attractive, how has Agron not noticed this?!?
- “Grab your fucking cock.” – oh wait, maybe he has! Ha!
- Foreshadow of Agron not thinking house/body salves are worth much. Ahhhhhhh how wrong he shall be ;)
- “We knew this day would come” SPARTACUS YOU MADE THIS DAY COME, YOU WROTE A FUCKING MESSAGE! Gah!
- Angry little lost boy. Agron is my fave if you can’t already tell.
- “That is no longer my title.” – poor baby.
- “There is but one place for an animal without honour.”
- Singleminded Spartacus is one of my least faves.
- I love how they take Lucretia way back to the drought, to before Spartacus killed Theokoles.
- I really love how in this show they show woman with pubic hair, COS IT’S FUCKING NATURAL and women shouldn’t have to shave because society tells them to.
- “Smashed upon the cliffs.” – foreshadowing!
- Argh! This leaning back shit women do during sex scenes on tv annoys the hell outta me. That move is done purely for the male viewers. For the women doing it, it’s really fucking awkward.
- “You bark as a dominus.” “Sheep stand idle if not prodded by snapping jaw.” – I love Agron and Donar moments.
- “Let us compare teeth and have answer.” – they are basically talking about comparing dick sizes right?????
- Lucretia with dark hair and wearing a purple dress. Goddess.
- “Do not shed fucking tear.”
- Fucking love that Lucretia is the one to spot Spartacus.
- Seppius rolling his eyes at Glaber. Me too, bro, me too.
- Ah the foreshadow of Glaber and Seppia. Yuck.
- The rebels coming to Spartacus’ aid. I love their loyalty.
- Seriously Donar and his axe.
- Agron picking up Aurelia and throwing her over his shoulder. It’s hilarious because she is so freaking tiny compared to him, and also cos he’s super gay and doesn’t understand females at all.
- Lucretia and Crixus seeing each other again is super powerful.
- MIRA with a “fucking Gauls.” Did not see that coming.
- “Do any of us hold fucking worth to you?”
- Mira’s little rant to Spartacus is all well and good, but did she have to be mean to Agron.
- The Spartacus and Crixus bromance is strong in S2.
- VENGEANCE NAME DROP.
- Agron looks so little, so small and young. My baby.
- I still fucking hate Aurelia.
- I do love that Agron was willing to go and fight Glaber because of Aurelia, someone he didn’t even seem to like at all.Baby’s got a heart.
- THE BEGINNING OF THE REBEL ARMY!!!!!!!!!!!YAAAAAS!

RNBW v CAPA: The 4v4 Tag-Team Battle. (Part 3/3)
In an attempt to close the distance between herself and Aurelia, Rusty decided to use her Semblance to charge right at her. Aurelia used her Tommy gun to take a few potshots at the giant Faunus girl, and when she concluded that Rusty was nigh invulnerable when charging, simply gracefully sidestepped away to evade Rusty’s attack.
Exiting the Charge mode of her Semblance as fast as she could, Rusty took a swing at Aurelia with her ax, but the golden-haired young woman dived right under it with ease. Slashing at Aurelia more and more with as much power and speed as she could muster, Rusty grew more and more frustrated as Aurelia dodged them all with ease, reading all of Rusty’s movements before she could even make them. In between Rusty’s attacks, Aurelia struck with a mixture of punches, kicks, blocks and gunfire, slowly chipping away at Rusty’s Aura.
“Aww, looks like you’re too slow to keep up with me, Redwoods~” taunted Aurelia “Can’t you even do anything right? I guess not, since you didn’t have to do anything to get in here, while the rest of us actually worked for what we have, huh?!”
Angered, Rusty slammed her ax into the ground, sending rubble flying. Aurelia quickly jumped out of the way and fired several more rounds at Rusty, driving her back a bit.
“I don’t need you to like me- I’m only here to be the best Huntress I can be- to protect my friends and family! Why is it so important for either of us to be better than the other?! What matters is that we’re all here to learn how to help people and help each other to do that!” shouted Rusty.
Slightly shaken by Rusty’s words, Aurelia’s tone softened up a bit.
“Alright then, Redwoods. Let’s give each other a challenge we can learn from!” she responded.
With that, Aurelia ran back into the fray, continuing to dive under and jump over each of Rusty’s attacks, delivering more and more counterattacks each time,
“For starters on being a huntress, let’s see if you can even touch me! That’s your benchmark on whether or not you can handle things in the real world!” boasted Aurelia.
“Ohoho, you’re on, Allum! At least I’ve actually lived in the real world, rich girl!” joked Rusty.
“Ooh, sassy! Nice one!” laughed Aurelia, as she sidestepped past another ax swing and delivered a kick to Rusty’s chin. “Think you can put your money where your mouth is, then?”
At this point, the atmosphere in the arena was buzzing with the excitement of all the students present, and their teacher, no longer focusing any animosity towards each other but instead now completely caught up in the fight between Rusty and Aurelia. Hunstmen and huntresses on both sides were cheering as loud as they could for their friends.
Rusty hurled a grenade from her ax at Aurelia who somersaulted over it and landed behind Rusty, just barely using her shield to block the followup ax swing Rusty delivered.
“Ahaha! Almost got you that time!”
“You wish!” Aurelia laughed back.
However, as the futility of her situation progressed, Rusty’s mind was brimming with thoughts on how she was even going to beat Aurelia.
“Uggh, it’s like she knows what I’m going to do before I do it!” thought Rusty. “How am I going to beat that?? Unless- I try doing something she can’t dodge! Alright, let’s try taking a page out of Nappa’s book…”
Sensing that she wouldn’t be able to last much longer, Rusty decided to pull one last all-or-nothing gambit, using her Semblance to charge straight upwards until she reached the very top of the arena. Then, she kicked off the arena ceiling to gain momentum and charged back down to the ground at top speed, going into a power dive and plummeting to the earth like a bright orange meteor aimed right for Aurelia.
As the giant sphere of cracking orange Aura grew larger and larger as it headed right for her, all Aurelia could do was stand there helpless, like a deer in the headlights, her face frozen with fear of the inevitable.
Just before Rusty hit the ground, Ms Star put up a bubble around the battlefield to shield everyone else as the resulting explosion from her impact filled up the entire bubble, even almost popping it. Even bigger then the explosion Brandeis caused earlier, all that could be seen inside this one were flames and storms of debris swirling around amidst an ear-splitting crash, as the very foundation of the school shook from the impact.
This time when the dust settled, to no-one’s surprise, they found Aurelia had been defeated, with Rusty just barely able to stand herself.
“Aurelia Allum is unable to battle!” announced Ms Star! “Team RNBW wins!! Whoo!!” she cheered.
And with that, the rest of Rusty’s team excitedly dashed onto the field to congratulate her, with Rusty giving them all a huge hug once they reached her, happily jumping up and down while the whole team gleefully thanked each other for their good work.
Meanwhile, the other three members of Team CAPA walked over to Aurelia, with Agnes helping her up but then letting go at the last minute, dropping her older sister on the floor.
“Whoops~ Sorry!” said Agnes as passive-aggressively as she could.
Getting up on her feet by herself this time, Aurelia joined the rest of her team to give their two cents to Team RNBW after their victory.
“That was... impressive...ly adequate. I must thank you for the match. You were all worthy opponents.” stated Cutter, awkwardly.
“Thank... thank you very much.” replied Brandeis, bashfully.
“Yeah! It was fun! Sorry about earlier, Billy! No hard feelings~?” giggled Agnes.
“Well-” started William.
“- Thanks, Billy!” she finished.
“But anyways guys, seriously. Great job out there! And Will! You wanna know what Ironwood’s up to, just come to us any time. You’re cool in our books now. But just know next time we won’t be going easy on you, ‘kay?” added Ptolemy.
“Thanks, man!” said William.
Looking directly at Aurelia, who was shying away at the moment, trying her best to avoid the conversation, Nappa coughed sarcastically to assuade her into talking.
“... Look. Don’t think this means I like any of you now.” said Aurelia, semi-frustrated. “It just means I’m willing to see you guys as good enough to be rivals to us, okay? And if any of you want any sort of commendation from me, I’ll just let you know that... you all fully deserve to be in this school- far from the best team here, but still. And one more thing- Umm... how should I say this... I- I mean, we-”
“-We decided to let you guys go ahead to try and catch Marion again.” finished Ptolemy.
“Whoa, really!?” asked Rusty and Nappa simultaneously.
“Yeah!” replied Agnes. “She’s your bad guy, you’ve already had experience fighting her and figuring out her plans, plus you all just showed us that you can totally get the job done! So yeah, you got this, guys!”
“We are relatively confident in your completion of the mission.” added Cutter. “We wish you all the best.”
“Thanks!” said all of Team RNBW together.
“It’s so wonderful that you children have learned the importance of understanding!” said Ms Star. “Best of luck on all your future endeavors!”
And with that, Ms Star sent the two eagerly chatting teams on their way out of the arena, while she used her Semblance to send out hundreds of small Aura bubbles from her wand in order to absorb and carry off the massive piles of rubble left on the battlefield, tidying it up.
“Loca!! What is the meaning of this?!” a voice shouted from behind her.
The white-haired woman sheepishly turned around to see a furious General Ironwood standing in the doorway, arms folded defensively as he stood amidst all the many debris-filled bubbled floating around the room.
“Oh! Sir! Um, well the thing about that is-”
Before finishing her sentence, Loca willed away all the bubbles that were right in front of Ironwood, sending a large wall of rubble crashing down in front of him to cut him off as she quickly escaped through another one of the Arena’s exits.
EPILOGUE
In the dim lighting of another one of her hideouts, the indigo-haired cyberthief known as Daisy Marion finished up the enhancements on some of her latest contraptions, most notably a stolen troupe of security robots, now all armed with Dust lasers.
In the few short weeks of her crime wave, which started ever since her very first attack on an Atlesian robotics laboratory, Daisy knew she would have a very limited amount of time and resources in order to complete her plan. And Team RNBW’s attack on her last base had only pressured her further into speeding up her preparations.
“I won’t have much longer left before they finally get their hands on me and imprison me again. And what’s worse, the strength my body possesses currently has proven to be... insufficient. Damn it! There’s just far too many idiots out there halting my plans!” she ranted to herself.
“Although...” thought Daisy. “If that team of Hunters shows up again to try and catch me, I may be able to... befriend one of them, in order to get the extra firepower I need.”
“Doesn’t that sound like a wonderful idea, Ms Ole? If I were to persuade one of those Huntsmen or Huntresses to join me, I would no longer require your assistance.” Daisy said aloud in the dank, echo-y room.
Tuning out the terrified screaming and sobbing in response to her question, Daisy simply chuckled to herself “Oh, come now. I was sure you'd be happy to have their lives exchanged for yours, no? Oh well. I mean, it’s not like you have any say in the matter anyways.”

The G+G One-Shot Challenge|Day 10
Ghost+Grave 25: My Constable the Pirate
[Very lengthy one-shot in which Riley reflects on Audergine “Anthony” Wright. Based on this very prompt and told from Riley’s point of view. Person A: Riley. Person B: Audergine. Trigger warning: Suicide note and pre-action. Other warnings: Some language involved.
For @worldoftheskeptic –thank you again.]
So… recently, I came around to making a sort of memory book. For me and Audergine. Not the most original of ideas but, perhaps, it is what it is. You see, Audergine… or Anthony… he and I, go back a very long time. Back to when m’Father was still alive.
You see, once upon a time… Audergine was a sky pirate. Very loyal to Victor Rotham, who at the time of my childhood and teenage years was the mayor of Stormy Oaks. Rotham and Father were rivals for m’Mother’s love and affections… but Rotham was also a sky pirate. He was a blaigeard, really. And Mother really fell for Father… got married. Rotham was mad t’all hell.
A couple of years after I was born, there was a war not too far, near the Scottish border. Rotham had the men of the city enlist for the militia… Father included. But Father was singled out for a particular mission. Audergine was responsible for making sure Father didn’t get home alive.
Mother was devastated… so much so, that Uncle Eli left Dublin, in Ireland, and moved in with her to help take care of me. But we never really heard the truth about who really killed Father. Not for a long time anyway… not for years. But the times I did face Audergine, he was a real mhac na galla. We didn’t get along at all–I bloody hated him! –no, not as much as I hated Rotham, but still.
As I go through my memory book, there are old patches he wore when he was a pirate… starting at age 15, when he ran away from home. When he became a pirate. Was in charge of the flying ship’s cannons. Led many a skirmish successfully. Killed the Cranston patriarch. The book is not a very big one… maybe 7 inches by 7? And not a lot of pages. But they all tell a story.
One page in particular, holds a note that was given to Mother, in his handwriting: “Forgive me for serving that idiot man. This life holds nothing more for me–not if it risks your heart broken all over again.” After Mother died, Uncle Eli gave it to me. I treasured it since then… I treasure it now. Hell, I cry sometimes when I read it. This happened after I was kidnapped… after he helped in rescuing me.
He risked his own life… for mine. How the hell.
There is one page, in which he wrote down his entire confession to the Lord Magistrate–about serving Rotham. About killing my Father. About turning his back on his pirate days, risking his life to save me. I remember that day… he pleaded guilty for his crimes. And he would have been sentenced to a permanent sentence of death had… had I not intervened. Pleaded for his life to be spared. Asked the Lord Magistrate and the Judge for his acquittal.
Audergine’s life changed because of me.
The next thing I know, he’s training to be a Constable. Helping out throughout the city. The target of orphaned kids wanting to hug Uncle Anthony the Constable because they wanted to be like him. A Constable. I still remember the day he changed his name to Anthony… his old name reminded him of his old life.
But nevertheless he always took the time to visit me.
As the years went by, and Mother died… and Uncle Eli died… Audergine remained as my only mainstay. Bless that crazy pirate’s heart… but he took his job as Constable seriously. I’ve often considered asking the Lord Magistrate if he could be promoted, but I was told that he would always, humbly, deny the opportunity for any sort of promotion.
A page is full of special documents… his certificate of recognition as Constable of the Night’s Watch. An article in the local town paper about him. My attempt at trying to find him a suitable wife because damnit, that son of a bitch deserved it. (To this day, ladies, he’s still single.)
There’s this one page in which he wrote a lengthy letter to me for my birthday one year…
Aurelia,
I don’t know if I ever told you, but I hope you realise how much you changed my life. Thank you for being a better anchor than Rotham ever was. You have been a constant within Stormy Oaks and really, I don’t know how the town could have gone on without you.
Happy Birthday, my dear little one.
- Anthony
I have a hard time trying not to cry every time I come across it.
Only recently has he found himself more than comfortable with his birth name once again. But there were times when he would act distant towards me. Sure, he was aware of my love-hate friendship with Constable Smith. But he never put his two cents in when it wasn’t needed. And sometimes… I worried. He was trying to be stoic, brave, help me keep the Night’s Watch at the Graveyard.
I never knew though, how tormented he really was… not until I came across his note, which means that I’ve reached the end of the memory book…
“Egon…?”
“Yes, love?”
“Can y’get this laminated for me?”
“Sure… what is it?”
“…Audergine’s suicide note.”
When I first told Egon about it, he was shocked. He had no idea how tormented Audergine was either… but sure enough, the Pirate Constable had considered taking his own life. It broke my heart really. To this day, I cry reading what he’d written to me…
Aurelia, dear heart…
I don’t know if, or how, this will get to you. But by the time you read this, I will have taken a bullet to myself. And I know this is not how you’d want to remember me… I know.
Whenever I see you, I see your Mother’s heart, your Father’s courage. Your Mother’s hair. Your Father’s eyes. Their blessed smile. Their wisdom, their knowledge. All of that manifested in you.
I watched as the darkness tried to swallow you up. I watched as Phantasmagoria brought you back from that. I watched as you fought in defense of both the quick and the dead. I watched… I couldn’t step in. I wasn’t worthy… I still feel… guilty… after everything I had put you through.
You are the most beautiful soul I have ever met. And I know how much your heart would break if you knew I did this to myself. And… sometimes… I feel as if it’d be better this way. If you were better off without my presence. Even though we had developed a far stronger bond than I had imagined when I first saw you as a little girl. You have become like a daughter to me and… and… and I am not worthy of that love you have extended to me.
I am a man unworthy to be in your presence.
I hope that when I’m standing before St. Peter, perhaps by your pleading as before… he’ll let me in. You are too good of a person to not heed the pleas and tears of.
And lastly, little one… thank you. For changing my life.
I love you, little courage. Goodbye…
- Audergine Thomas Wright
I found Audergine crying before my family’s graves, the pistol near him. He… would have done it. But he was pleading one last time for their forgiveness and I, the only survivor, was more than willing to bestow it to him. And I did… putting the pistol aside. Pulling him into my arms so he could cry and know that he was loved, that he was forgiven. That he was family.
The dynamic of our friendship changed forever that evening.
To this day he still struggles with the guilt of his past actions, but he doesn’t let it destroy him as it once almost did. In fact, he’s helping to make sure others don’t end their own lives as well as the occasion allows him. But he particularly enjoys being there for those in mourning who enter the Graveyard during the Night’s Watch. And I get to watch as he’s turned other lives around for the better…
Right now however, Audergine is sleeping in an open coffin in the Underground Parlor of my House’oleum, resting after an exhausting Night’s Watch. He’s worked a long night, and who could blame him? Placing the Memory Book back in the Kitchen-Trinket Room, I go to tuck the good man in, and make my way to take a quick bath and visit Egon at the Firehouse. Audergine won’t be alarmed if he finds I’m not in the House’oleum… he knows who I’m visiting and spending time with. Hell, he asks if we’re married yet!
…actually, he also doesn’t know I’m engaged. Yet.
