I just saw your mafia! Anakin Au. And oh my god. Never saw something so good before!
Could you please write something about mafia! Anakin Au being a father or something? He'd be such a pookieeeee
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Author's note: HE WOULD HE WOULD!!! He'd be the best dad ever even tho he didn't want kids at all at first :(( also I am out of creativity and I, again, took the same name for the boy like in SAM MONROE angst from week ago
“Hey, no, that’s your foot, not food,” ANAKIN SKYWALKER scolded his little boy with tone playful yet firm as he gently pried the tiny toes away from Vinnie’s too curious and too eager to-eat-everything mouth. The toddler erupted into a fit of bubbly giggles, chubby cheeks flushing from all the laughter
“Oh, it’s funny, is it?” Anakin mused, raising an eyebrow while barely maintaining to hide his grin. “Daddy’s literally saving your life here—bacteria, choking hazards, all that serious stuff—and you think it’s a joke, huh? Yeah, laugh it up, pretty boy.” Italian accent still hearable in Anakin's speech
Vinnie only giggled harder, squirming as Anakin’s large hand wandered to his chubby knee, giving it a playful squeeze before dragging the toddler closer across the soft rug.
“Such a happy kid,” Anakin murmured, voice dropping into something softer, almost awestruck. Eyes scanning Vinnie’s tiny face as if soaking in every little detail—the wispy curls framing his forehead, the dimple that appeared with every laugh, and those familiar blue eyes that were such a perfect mirror of his own.
How could someone so small already feel like his entire world?
He brought his hand up to the boy's face, thumb brushing over Vinnie’s round cheek, marveling at how much of himself he saw in his son. “Spitting image of your old man,” he said with a smile. “But you’ve got your mama’s sweetness—thank the God for that.”
Vinnie reached up with grabby hands, babbling nonsense while he clutched at Anakin’s long sleeve, tugging him closer with surprising strength for someone so little.
“C’mon, what should we do now, huh?” his slim fingers playing with the toddler's “Daddy’s at your service—storytime? Building blocks? Or are we just gonna crawl around and wreak havoc?”
Vinnie answered by smacking his tiny palm against Anakin’s chest, a high-pitched squeal escaping his lips.
“Oh, that’s what we’re doing? Smacking Daddy now?” Anakin teased, pretending to be offended. He flopped dramatically onto his back, pulling Vinnie along so the boy landed sprawled on his chest. “Alright, kid, you win. You’re the boss. What’s the next move?”
Vinnie giggled uncontrollably, his little fists clutching Anakin’s shirt again while he clumsily tried to climb up his dad’s broad chest.
Anakin let out a low chuckle, his large hands steadying his son as he wiggled his way up. “Alright, alright,” his tone softening before he kissed the top of Vinnie’s head. “Whatever you want, Little Bear. Just promise me one thing -- dont pull on my hair like the last time, okay? Daddy doesn't want to be bald yet”

Koda: I am better than horse. I will carry you.
Katja: wmWhat. Did. You. Fucking. Say?
Koda: I am Better than Horse.
Rekha: Katja squares up.
Aabria/Antiope: I immediately grab Katja like 'nope, nope!'
Katja: let me take him don't you hold me back!
Antiope: Bear back up, back up! You don't want me to let her go.
Koda: okay.
Becca/Penny: I hug the bear. Just don't say, we know it's true, don't say it again.
Katja: what?!
Koda: oh yeah, what, what, what?
Antiope: Girl you wanna get let go?
Katja: Am I gonna fight a bear?
Antiope: go fucking get him! Aabria/Antiope: I let go and push her forward. Kill this bear!
Izzy/Ostentatia: can I cast enhance ability and give her beat shit?
Antiope: smoke this bear, Katja!
Brennan: I'm gonna pull up bear --
Becca/Penny: no, not Koda, please, I'll give my life for Koda!
Sam: Koda, I believe in you. And I give Koda bardic inspiration.
Katja: what! Against me?!
*overlapping chatter*
Brennan: okay, so you have enhanced ability, I'm gonna need an athletics check with advantage from you.
Sephie/Sam: my first time bardic inspiration!
Brennan: what did you roll?
Rekha/Katja: I rolled an 18, which plus my athletics is a 27.
Aabria: let's go
Becca/Penny: come on Koda
Brennan: I'm gonna roll.
Sephie/Sam: remember that bardic inspiration!
Brennan: yes, bardic inspiration.
*overlapping chatter*
Rekha/Katja: Absolutely psychotic
Aabria/Antiope: I want Hunter's Sense on this bear. What is his weakness?
Rekha/Katja: fuck yes
Antiope: I'm whispering in your ear like, 'go for his nuts.'
Becca/Penny: I get an acrobatics check as I spin the bear on my feet?
Rekha/Katja: this is unreal you created, and then brought back this bear.
Penny: Koda is a circus trained bear and I have acrobatics.
Brennan: so I'm gonna roll. Here's, here's Koda's athletics check.
*math happens* Katja: 27, Koda: 24
Erika/Yelle: before this resolves --
Katja: and it will never resolve!
Erika/Yelle: everyone hears a voice in the back of their heads that says: 'Everybody knock it off and grow the fuck up.'
Rekha: gasps
Penny: yeah, Koda
Yelle: you too Koda
Sam: especially Koda
Brennan: Katja you've got --
Ostentatia: who just fucking cursed at me?
Brennan: so you all -- so Danielle just communicated telepathically. You gently release Koda from the arm bar that you have Koda in.
Rekha/Katja: yea it was an arm bar and I was about to grab him like *gestures with a clenched fist* like this is his shirt and put him up against the --
Izzy: shirt?
Rekha/Katja: yea, but this is fur, against the thing. And go like a 'why I oughta!'
Becca/Penny: no Koda wears a tiny T-shirt, that's right.
Rekha: *something I can't catch* really small.
Izzy: is it Paddington?
*overlapping chatter and laughing*
Brennan: a talking Kodiak Bear with an enormous rain jacket and hat. Less cute that size. Cool. So, so Katja you were clearly about to tie this bear in a knot.
Aabria/Antiope: kick this bear's ass.
Brennan: and Danielle grabs everyone's attention. Zelda looks at Yelle and goes [as Zelda]: cool. Yeah, we need to head to the Baronies. We should go.
Katja: yeah, yeah. Are you cool, Koda? Are you fucking cool?
Koda: if you are cool, I am cool. We have no problem. Maybe next time we go there's no sucker punches, and we sort of, you know?
Yelle: okay, you know what. This is what we call, in the industry, bear baiting. And you're not going to fall for it.
Izzy: what industry?
Aabria/Antiope: we're getting baited by a bear that's fucked.
Katja: I am not falling for this
Penny: the nature industry
Katja: I am strong, I am strong, and you are weak
*overlapping chatter*
Brennan: uh, amazing. So it kicks off a little bit again, and you guys head off from here. Katja and Koda, the tension is palpable.
Rekha/Katja: and we're sitting next to each other!
Penny: I hope on Koda's back
Izzy: they're gonna fuck!
Penny: I'm whispering to Koda what a good boy he is, and how he's better than a horse.
Katja: I'm whispering to cinnamon "you know there's nothing on earth that's better than a horse, you know that right?
Cinnamon: I didn't let that bear get to me. I didn't let that bear get to me.
Brennan: so you all move along

As Sam addressed the crowd at the Smithsonian, you listened to his every word by Rhodey’s side. You let yourself laugh at the appropriate moments and fought back tears as your friend paid tribute to another. Your heart ached as you watched him pass on the shield, the symbol that guided you to become the best agent you could and more.
“I can’t do this,” you murmured almost inaudibly as you slipped away from the crowd, retreating to the quiet street. You steadied your thoughts, taking a few deep breaths. Retrieving your phone from your purse, you hesitated before dialing a number. “Come on,” you urged as the ringing persisted.
Disappointment washes over you as you realize there’s no answer on the other end, you stand there for a moment. Staring at your call lost, feeling the loneliness creep in as you see that none of your calls have been picked up. Taking another deep breath, you put your phone back and start walking. Each step is a deliberate effort to move forward.
While navigating the streets of Washington, your thoughts are focused on the events at the Smithsonian. The passing of the shield symbolized the end of an era for you. An era that had taken over your entire adult life.
~
You enter your quiet apartment and sink onto the couch. The weight of the day, flight, and lack of food were starting to seem heavier, you couldn’t bring yourself to get changed out of the formal black dress you had been wearing since half four that morning. You retrieved your phone from your purse once again, your fingers hovering over the screen as you debated whether to try calling again.
You knew it was getting late but you dialed the number again, heart pounding with anticipation. As the phone rang, you tried not getting your hopes up, but they were crushed when it went to voicemail.
Sighing deeply, you set your phone down as you got back up from the couch and made your way back out into the street. You were proud of yourself for not letting the tears spill down your cheeks.
The streets were quiet, and the soft glow of the streetlights offered a semblance of solace. With no destination in your mind, you wandered as the hunger gnawed at your stomach. Searching for a nearby restaurant for a late-night bite, you approached the diner you knew as Izzy.
Your heart lurched in your chest as you recognized the figure through the window, sitting opposite a woman, she seemed to be laughing at whatever it was he was telling her. Playing a game of Battleship and drinking. “Not like that’s going to affect him,” you thought as you took in the sight. For a moment, you stood frozen in place, the tears you previously held back now beginning to spill.
~
Once you were home and washed the day off of you, a hint of optimism rose from within you. Deciding to open yourself up to a new experience, you downloaded a popular dating app and uploaded all the photos of you in dresses that hugged your body just the way you loved. The way he once said should be for his eyes only. Swiping through profiles, it didn’t take long for you to come across someone who caught your eye, and match with them.
You exchanged messages for the rest of the night, at some point agreeing to meet for brunch the next morning.
~
Your date was waiting for you when you arrived at the cafe, a friendly smile lighting up his face. Exchanging greetings, he pulled out a chair for you and helped with your coat and bag. You thanked him, finding yourself relaxed in his company.
Settling into conversation, you shared stories, laughed, and began feeling a genuine connection. You hadn’t allowed yourself to truly feel this happy in three months, letting yourself let go of the weight that had been pressed into your chest for so long.
“Is that? Is that The Winter Soldier?” your date asked, his focus moving away from you and instead toward the entrance of the cafe. Turning your gaze over to where your date had been looking, it felt like time stopped as you looked into the eyes of a furrowing James Buchanan Barnes. His fist clenched under his leather gloves.
“Here we go,” you mumbled under your breath as you noticed him making his way over to you. With trembling hands, you reached for the glass of champagne that sat on the table in front of you. Tilting the glass back, you swallowed every last drop of it in an attempt to calm yourself down.
“I need to speak to you,” Bucky growled, his voice low and commanding as he towered over you. As much as you’ve wanted nothing more than to be around him for the last three months, you kept your gaze fixed on your date. “Now.”
“I’m on a date,” your tone even with a hint of defiance as you responded to the super soldier. You watched as the eyes of your date filled with fear and amazement.
“I can see that,” he replied dryly, sarcasm dripping in his tone as he gave your date a pointed look. He shifted uncomfortably in his seat, sensing the tension between you and Bucky.
“Whatever you have to say, it can wait,” your voice steady despite the adrenaline coursing through your veins. “I’m here with someone else,” you added emphasis on ‘someone else’ as you sensed him tense up beside you.
Your date cleared his throat, shooting a hesitant glance between you and Bucky. He spoke up, his tone polite but uneasy. “Perhaps I should… give you two some privacy?” He began to stand from the table, making his way over to the restrooms. Bucky quickly sat in the seat he had previously occupied.
Your gaze was ablaze with a mixture of hurt and frustration as you finally made eye contact with Bucky. “What do you want?” your voice trembled slightly.
Bucky couldn’t suppress the sarcasm that came from his tone as he looked over toward the restrooms. “Well, he seems like a real charmer,” his tone full of irony.
You shot him a disapproving look, eyebrows knitting together in a silent warning. “Again, what do you want?” Bucky looked back at you, a smirk playing at the corners of his lips. Rolling your eyes, you defended the man you had known for less than 12 hours. “He’s a nice guy,”
Leaning back in his seat, Bucky folded his arms across his chest as he sent you a knowing look. “If you say so,” he remarked. If it wasn’t for the dry and snarky tone, you’d have thought he was backing down. “And, I’m sure he can handle a doll such as you,” he continued while sending you a wink.
“Can’t you just go back to ignoring me like you have done for the last three months?” you sighed, picking up your fork and using it to move food around your plate.
“I saw the pictures you used for your little dating profile,” he glared at you when he noticed a smirk now taking place over your lips.
You shrugged nonchalantly and replied with a calm tone. “Yeah, and?”
His jaw tightened at your response, frustration simmering beneath the surface. “Thought they were only for me?” he pressed.
Your expression softened, remorse flickering over your features as you looked back at him. “Things change,” you murmured, your voice tinged with regret. “I waited five years for you to come back, five years of not even knowing if you were coming back,” your voice quivered with emotion.
Bucky’s gaze softened, and he straightened his posture. “I know-” he began to speak but you cut him off before he could finish.
“No, Bucky, you don’t” you shot back at him, your voice rising with each word. “You couldn’t possibly understand what it was like, not know where you went, or if you were alive or dead, or if you’d even come back,”
His jaw once again clenched, “I waited over 90 years for you to come into my life,” he confessed, his voice thick with emotion and vulnerability.
Your eyes widened at his admission, you were both surprised and in disbelief, “But yet, you only waited three months before jumping into bed with someone else,” you accused, voice thick with bitterness. “How was your night of Battleship, by the way?”
His hands balled into fists on top of the table, his voice raised to match yours. “Firstly, I didn’t sleep with her,” he retorted. “And secondly, what the fuck is this?” he gestures toward your date as he started to make his way back out of the restroom.
“I’m sorry,” your date now interrupts your conversation with Bucky as he makes his way back over to you. “I didn’t know you two are exes,”
“He’s not my ex!”
“She’s not my ex!”
~
Alone in the dimly lit apartment, you allowed yourself to have a moment to rest, closing your eyes and taking a few deep breaths. The weight of your date pressing down on your shoulders. Surprisingly, he asked for a second date. Once Bucky had left, he offered to take you out again another time. You happily agreed.
As you began to drift into a state of relaxation, the sound of the television caught your attention. “... it is with great honor that we announce here today that the United States of America has a new hero. Join me in welcoming your new Captain America.”
“What the fuck?!”

“Diz,” Sam strolls up to your desk, startling you so your chair tilts dangerous, “what are you doing tonight?”
Your lips open and you blink, turning your dumb expression into a weird smile. You sputter, surprised by the question. You take a breath and fix your posture.
“Drinks,” you blurt out.
“You asking me out?” He tweaks a brow and smirks.
“Oh, no, me and the girls. It’s cocktail night!” You can’t help but clap your hands.
“Cocktails? Get an appletini on me,” he says.
“I’m more into mimosas,” you say sheepishly, “is there--” your smile twitches, “is there something tonight? For work? Did I forget--”
“No, I was curious. Was gonna offer you some tickets to this hockey game. I’m not much into it but a vendor sent them.”
“Mm, no, I’m not very sporty. I did play badminton in high school but I don’t really know about hockey or whatever,” you shrug, “sorry.”
“That’s fine, I’ll ask Marty. I think he’s a Habs fan. Go figure.”
You nod and wait until he strides away to go back to your work. Well, you were playing solitaire when he walked up but it’s been a very dull day. You sigh and check your phone. You’re still on for tonight. The girls all seem jazzed for it. Except for Izzie but she’s living her life up in some confidential location.
You piddle away the day. Sam can’t seem to sit still as he comes in and out of his office several times to chat or just to ask you the same questions over and over. Admittedly, it’s a slow day. When at last you’re free, you’re eager to get home and get into something cuter.
Your commute goes quickly as you listen to a podcast about animal facts. You get off at your stop and hurry to your building. That feathered sweater is going to look so cute with your mini skirt. You put on the loud red top over the primary blue sheath and pick out your platform loafers. You’re a bit topsy turvy and a few mimosas won’t help that but you’re ready for fun.
You get to Retro’s at the same time as Rosie and jump her with a surprise hug from behind. You giggle as you enter and give your reservation to the hostess. She remembers you from all the other times and gets you seated. The 80s hits bop from the speakers as you wiggle in your seat.
“I love Whitney,” you vibe along.
“You’re silly,” Rosie chides.
“Come on, get funky,” you clasp your fingers through each other and do the wormy thing with your arms.
““Hey, guys,” Missie appears in a cluster of polka dots and frills, “how’s it going?”
“Miss Missie,” you greet her with a giggle, “waiting to get the party started.”
“Ah, yes,” she sighs and rubs her shoulders, “after today, I need a double! My boss... well, let’s leave work at work.”
“Izzie’s not coming,” Rosie says.
“Yeah, too bad. I can’t remember the last time I saw her,” Missie tuts. “Excuse me, I gotta hit the bathroom.”
Missie walks off and you and Rosie chatter about the new knitting pattern she found on pinterest. She shows you on your phone as the din fades into the back of your mind. You’re a bit too talented at blocking out the world.
“I feel better,” Missie proclaims as she sits down, “been holding my bladder since work.”
“The others on their way?” Elfie asks as she appears behind the other girl. You flinch in surprise, ripped back into reality.
“Georgie’s running behind,” Rosie says, “she just messaged. And Billie’s been quiet today.”
Elfie sits and you all reach for your phones in unison. You open up Izzie’s video message and show the table her recording of a parachute jump. Wow! You wouldn’t mind trying that one day.
Billie shows up shortly after as the chatter around the table continues. You sit with Rosie and Georgie joins you soon after, looking defeated as she explains she’s going away tomorrow. It all sounds so exciting. Izzie’s jumping out of planes, Georgie’s going to Barbados, and Billie got a new position. Your job is so boring. As fun as Sam is, he’s predictable.
You get into the music again, swaying and bouncing, as Billie gives you the side-eye. The waitress approaches with a full tray but you don’t remember ordering. Elfie crinkles her nose, “I don’t think that’s for us.”
You eye the bright green drinks in stemmed glasses.
“Some gentlemen sent them,” the server nods over her shoulder.
You sit forward to see through the crowd and a hand waves over the heads. You stand slightly as a few other girls raise themselves up. The waitress hands out the appletinis and Billie mutters about her tequila.
“Who is that?” Rosie asks.
“That’s my boss,” you exclaim and wave back at Sam.
“What the hell is he...” Billie starts then quickly turns around and hides. “Shit, he’s with my boss!”
“Your boss?” Elfie wonders.
“One of them,” Billie growls.
“And... is that... Mr. Rogers?” Rosie utters. “What are the odds?”
You purse your lips and look down at the glass. Well, you did tell him you’d be there so you’re not so sure of the coincidence. You’re not going to tell them though, Billie looks ready to fight.
“It’s so nice of them to send some drinks though,” you say.
“Yeah,” Rosie agrees.
“But why?” Elfie wonders.
“I won’t deny a free drink,” Missie slurps and her cheeks pinch, “oo, sour.”
Georgie drinks silently and checks her phone. She quickly tucks it away and takes another deep gulp. Elfie doesn’t taste hers, staring at it in disappointment. Well, you’ll enjoy yours. It’s about time you switched it up.
“Should we buy them some drinks?” Missie suggests, “it only seems nice.”
“No, it’s girls’ night,” Billie insists, “that’s just an invitation and I think we can all agree, we’re done with bosses tonight.”
“Here here,” Elfie raises her glass for a cheers, “fuck work.”

FIC REC WEEK 35 - HUMOR
every dong has its day by orphan_account
Pairing: Steve/Tony Rating: M Words: 7,831 Tags: Puns, Size Doesn't Matter, Misunderstandings
Summary: it’s not the size of the boat, it’s the motion of the ocean. -ancient chinese proverb
Reasons why I love it: When I tell you I was fucking howling the first time I read this, I am not kidding. This fic is so goddamn funny, and honestly it only gets better every time I come back to it. If you haven't read this one yet, do yourself a favor and get right on it, because it's fantastic.
Talk Dirty To Me by Finely Honed (jaqen_hgar)
Pairing: Bucky/Tony Rating: M Words: 2,255 Tags: Bisexual Tony, Dirty Thoughts, Russian Speaking Buddies
Summary: Being the kind of person he was now, Bucky had crossed happy endings, fairness, and a whole mess of other things off of his list of beliefs since HYDRA got their hooks in him. Shoving the disappointment down wasn’t even that hard. He’d had plenty of practice. It was just… “What a shame,” he sighed in Russian as Tony walked past, giving them a wave over his shoulder as he headed into the kitchen. “The things I would do to that ass.”
Reasons why I love it: Bucky being horny on main is so funny, it puts the biggest smile on my face. Couple that with Natasha's exasperation and Tony shamelessly listening in and you've got the recipe for a killer fic. It's so good, and I highly recommend you check it out for yourself!
When I think about you by sirona
Pairing: Steve/Tony Rating: E Words: 11,955 Tags: Sassy Steve, Prank Wars, Trolling
Summary: Five times someone saw Steve sass the hell out of Tony and one time Tony finally bought a clue. Also known as the story of Captain Sasspants more than handling his own with Tony Stark at his most devious.
Reasons why I love it: It doesn't matter how many times I read it, I still crack up every time. Steve is such a fucking troll, my god, Tony has no idea what he's getting himself into. Luckily, when he DOES finally catch a clue, he finds the right words to seal the deal. The smut is absolutely fantastic too. I love this one, and I bet you will too, if you haven't read it already!
no matchmaking before breakfast by nanasekei
Pairing: Steve/Tony Rating: NR Words: 3,435 Tags: Fluff, Natasha is Not A Robot, Avengers Family
Summary: “I don’t even find Steve attractive,” Natasha says, eyes following greedily every drop of coffee the machine pours, for once in her life genuinely unaware of the impact her words are about to cause.
Reasons why I love it: Tony's indignation on Steve's behalf is so cute, I want to squish him. And Natasha managing to play matchmaker even while barely half-awake is iconic. I'd also really love to hear about the rest of her ranking list. This fic is amazing, and if you haven't already, I hope you check it out for yourself!
Bro Job by Amuly
Pairing: Steve/Tony Rating: E Words: 4,974 Tags: Roleplay, Facials, PWP
Summary: Tony overhears Sam use the word "Bro Job" during an argument with Izzy. This gives him the bright idea of a role-play scenario he could act out with Steve, harkening back to the foolish beginnings of their relationship.
Reasons why I love it: This is one of the funniest PWP fics I've ever read. Steve is such a sweetheart to go along with Tony's whims, and oh my god, Tony breaking character once they start roleplaying is the best thing ever. I laughed out loud several times while reading this, so if you like some humor with your smut, this one's for you!

I feel like when I’m reading or watching something, for me to like a hero, they have to
1) have ambition about anything
2) not be annoying
3) not excuse their shitty behaviour with their shitty childhood
4) not be so self-righteous they don’t see their own flaws
For these reasons I hate with a burning passion Jace Herondale, Clary Fairchild, Eli Ever, Tiberius “Cal” Calore VIII, Dean Winchester, and Legend/Dante Santos
Jace is constantly doing something shitty in every book and people don’t care and they just put up with it for some reason. In CoG he belittles Clary because he wants to push her away but keeps coming back to her. He also keeps coming onto Clary when he thought she was his sister and said that cursed sentence in CoG that I need to bleach from my brain. I know if he said that shit to me I would’ve punched him in his stupid face cuz who does he think he is? He mocks the werewolves after they lost a child in their pack, he’s just awful to Alec at times, he doesn’t seem to understand there are consequences to his actions and just does shit because he wants to. He had the emotional maturity of a dried up pinecone.
Clary also does so much shit and people don’t call her out because she’s the protagonist and she just lets Jace do whatever to her because he’s hot. Girl please get a grip. She slut shames Izzy because apparently women aren’t allowed to have a sex life or wear revealing clothing 😒 girl you kissed someone you thought was YOUR BROTHER!! She dated Simon to get over Jace and then kissed Jace in the Seelie Court, and repeatedly thought about Jace in a romantic sense WHILE she thought they were SIBLINGS! I can’t.
Eli is so self-righteous, annoying and hypocritical. He uses God and religion as an excuse to kill innocent people which is just disgusting. Like I get that he thinks being an EO changed a person because Victor became different but he is an EO himself and he just takes it on himself to murder innocent people for simply existing.
Cal has no desire to do anything, at least up to the beginning of King’s Cage he doesn’t (where I currently am). He knows how poorly the Reds are being treated and he doesn’t want to change anything because (and I’m paraphrasing) there would be outrage among the Silvers and a war would break out. Bitch you are already at war! He’s the reason why so many innocent young Reds have lost their lives fighting in a war they have no say in. He sees the Scarlet Guard killing Silvers and he doesn’t try to stop them. He sulks and whines but doesn’t take any real action, which he could if he actually wanted to. He stalks around the camp like Mare’s dog and thinks he’s better than everyone.
Dean Winchester is an abusive asshole. He locked Sam in the cellar when he was addicted to demon blood when he knew the withdrawal could kill him. He shit on Sam for being manipulated. He’s made horrible perverted jokes about women, might I remind y’all of the high school episode (he was at least 26 at the time). He guilted Sam for leaving him in Hell and Purgatory when he did THE EXACT SAME THING when Same went to the cage. He threatened Kaia, a teenager at gun point for his own selfish purposes. He abused Jack til the very end, yelling that he wasn’t family when Jack had sacrificed his soul and life for the Winchesters, and made Jack hate himself for being born. He was shitty to Cas in so many seasons and didn’t care that Cas just went through seeing his son die and wasn’t able to save him. He violated Sam’s body by tricking him into letting Gadreel in which led to the death of Kevin and had the audacity to think he was wronged.
Dante is shit. Julian, his brother, lived with him for centuries, followed him wherever he went and loved him unconditionally. All Julian asked was for Dante to love him back, which he never did. When Julian finally found someone who loved him, Dante made fun of him. And then in the next book he gives up his immortality for Tella, a girl he has known for literal months at most. He didn’t love his brother, who has been with him since the beginning, enough to give up his immortality but he loved this random girl he has known for a couple months at most to give it all up?? Tella should’ve left him in the dust just like she did Jacks and went off on adventures by herself and met someone that wasn’t a twat.

Doctor Who - Eighth Doctor Guide
Tumblr media
This incarnation first appeared in the 1996 movie ‘Doctor Who’ in which was, at the time, an attempt to bring the show back while trying to bring in American viewers. It was a total failure and the show would only come back on TV in 2005 with the new series. However, these were exciting news to the expanded universe: the Eighth Doctor opened a door to explore new and imaginative ideas in this second half of the wilderness years (as we call the show hiatus from 1989 to 2005).
Virgin Books would lose their license to Doctor Who and therefore their publication of the Seventh Doctor books, at the time the only continuation to the show we had, stopped. Instead, the Eighth Doctor Adventures were released, a book series focusing on the adventures of the Eighth Doctor with new, original companions. And, five years later, Paul McGann would once again step into the role in Big Finish.
These guides include only tv, books and audio stories, but this time only I will make an exception: we’ll include the Doctor Who Magazine Comics too. You totally should give these comics a chance for other Doctors too, but Eight is getting special treatment because the Magazine did its own thing with him just as the other media. It has four well defined narrative arcs/”seasons” and introduces their own original companion. So let’s start!
INTO THE COMICS
‘Season one’ – Adventures with Izzy
[ ] Endgame
[ ] The Keep
[ ] A Life of Matter and Death
[ ] Fire and Brimstone
[ ] By Hook or by Crook
[ ] Tooth and Claw
[ ] The Final Chapter
[ ] Wormwood
[ ] Happy Deathday
This season picks up a plot point from the Seventh Doctor DWM’s comics regarding a recurring villain, but you’ll understand it fine enough even if haven’t read what came before. This is collected as The Eighth Doctor Comics Strips volume 01, as that edition has a summary of what you need to know. Otherwise, it’s a perfect jumping point. The Doctor meets Izzy Sinclair, a young girl from Stockbridge that helps him fight the Toymaker when the elder god takes control of the town, quickstating a long road of self-discovery for Izzy.
‘Season two’ – Continued adventures with Izzy, plus Kroton
[ ] The Fallen
[ ] Unnatural Born Killers
[ ] The Road to Hell
[ ] TV Action!
[ ] The Company of Thieves
[ ] The Glorious Dead
[ ] The Autonomy Bug
This season is collected as The Eighth Doctor Comics Strips volume 02 and introduces a temporary companion I love: Kroton, the good Cybermen. It also has one of the best Master stories ever. It also features the only other proper Grace story ever since I think they just ignored the copyright issue and used her anyway.
‘Season three’ – Continued adventures with Izzy
[ ] Ophidius
[ ] Beautiful Freak
[ ] The Way of All Flesh
[ ] Children of the Revolution
[ ] Me and My Shadow
[ ] Uroboros
[ ] Oblivion
This season is collected as the Eighth Doctor Comics Strips volume 03. This season finishes Izzy’s story while also introducing the next companion, Destrii. It also has one of my favorite Daleks stories.
‘Season four’ – Solo adventures, then joined by Destrii
[ ] Where Nobody Know Your Name
[ ] The Nightmare Game
[ ] The Power of Thoueris!
[ ] The Curious Tale of Spring-Heeled Jack
[ ] The Land of Happy Endings
[ ] Bad Blood
[ ] Sins of the Father
[ ] The Flood
This season is collected as the Eighth Doctor Comics Strips volume 04. For the most part it shows the Doctor rebounding from his goodbye to Izzy (platonically, I see their relationship as paternal), kinda trying to find a new companion (he is pathetic in The Nightmare Game) and dealing with solitude. Then the story picks up when he is reunited with Destrii and they begin travelling together. It has a great Cybermen story.
INTO THE BOOKS
‘Season 01’ – Adventures with Sam
[ ] The Eight Doctors
[ ] Vampire Science
[ ] The Bodysnatchers
[ ] Genocide
[ ] War of the Daleks
[ ] Alien Bodies
The Eight Doctors is a terrible first book, just skip it and start with Vampire Science – which is much better. There is a certain character there who was supposed to be Grace but then they couldn’t use her because of copyright and I do think knowing that gives an interesting perspective to the book. Alien Bodies (great, too) starts a story arc about the War in Heaven. Or, simply put, a much more engaging time war done in the books years before the TV series ever thought about it.
‘Season 02’ – Continued adventures with Sam
[ ] Kursaal
[ ] Option Lock
[ ] Longest Day
[ ] Legacy of the Daleks
[ ] Dreamstone Moon
[ ] Seeing I
‘Season 03’ – Continued adventures with Sam
[ ] Placebo Effect
[ ] Vanderdeken’s Children
[ ] The Scarlet Empress
[ ] The Janus Conjuction
[ ] Beltempest
[ ] The Face-Eater
‘Season 04’ – Adventures with Sam and Fitz
[ ] The Taint
[ ] Demontage
[ ] Revolution Man
[ ] Dominion
[ ] Unnatural History
[ ] Autumn Mist
[ ] Interference – Book One: Shock Tactic
[ ] Interference – Book Two: The Hour of the Geek
‘Season 04’ – Adventures with Fitz and Compassion
[ ] The Blue Angel
[ ] The Taking of Planet 5
[ ] Frontier Worlds
[ ] Parallel 59
[ ] The Shadows of Avalon
[ ] The Fall of Yquatine
[ ] Coldheart
[ ] The Space Age
[ ] The Banquo Legacy
[ ] The Ancestor Cell
‘Season 05’ – Exiled on Earth
[ ] The Burning
[ ] Casualties of War
[ ] The Turing Test
[ ] Endgame
[ ] Father Time
[ ] Escape Velocity
Following the ending of The Ancestor Cell, there is this smaller story arc with the Doctor stuck on Earth for plot reasons I will not elaborate because I don’t want spoil it too much.
‘Season 06’ – Adventures with Fitz and Anji
[ ] EarthWorld
[ ] Fear Itself
[ ] Vanishing Point
[ ] Eater of Wasps
[ ] The Year of Intelligent Tigers
[ ] Dark Progeny
[ ]  The City of the Dead
[ ] Griim Reality
[ ] The Adventuress of Henrietta Street
‘Season 07’ – Continued adventures with Fitz and Anji
[ ] Mad Dogs and Englishmen
[ ] Hope
[ ] Anachrophobia
[ ] Trading Futures
[ ] The Book of the Still
[ ] The Crooked World
[ ] History 101
[ ] Camera Obscura
[ ] Time Zero
‘Season 08’ – Continued adventures with Fitz and Anji, joined by Trix
[ ] The Infinity Race
[ ] The Domino Effect
[ ] Reckless Engineering
[ ] The Last Resort
[ ] Timeless
[ ] Emotional Chemistry
[ ] Sometime Never…
‘Season 09’ – Adventures with Fitz and Trix
[ ] Halflife
[ ] The Tomorrow Windows
[ ] The Sleep of Reason
[ ] The Deadstone Memorial
[ ] To the Slaughter
[ ] The Gallifrey Chronicles
INTO THE AUDIOS – THE MAIN RANGE ERA
‘Season 01’ – Adventures with Charley
[ ] Storm Warning
[ ] The Sword of Orion
[ ] The Stones of Venice
[ ] Minuet in Hell
[ ] Solitaire
[ ] If I Should Die Before I Wake
The Eighth Doctor joined Big Finish a little bit after Doctors Five to Seven, but it was still quite early when their main releases were ‘just’ a monthly two-hour long story in the style of the classic series. We call this range of releases the Main Range. As the current Doctor at that point, having McGann back in the role was obviously a novelty and he was instantly joined by India Fisher as Charlotte Pollard, Edwardian adventurer.
Solitaire and If I Should Die Before I Wake are not main range releases but I do think they fit tonally well enough with theses stories and therefore I don’t think there is any problem listening to them here.
‘Season 02’ – Continued adventures with Charley
[ ] Invaders from Mars
[ ] The Chimes of Midnight
[ ] Seasons of Fear
[ ] Embrace the Darkness
[ ] The Time of the Daleks
[ ] Neverland
[ ] Zagreus
This finish the story arc of Charley’s life as was set up in Storm Warning. It all culminates in Zagreus, which is also a 40 years anniversary story of the series. Romana and Leela, former companions of the Fourth Doctor, reappear at the end of this arc and their interaction starts a spin-off just about them in Gallifrey – a series also called Gallifrey. I will not elaborate on it in this post, but let it be noted it happens.
‘Season 03’ – Adventures with Charley and C’rizz
[ ] Scherzo
[ ] The Creed of the Kromon
[ ] The Natural History of Fear
[ ] The Twilight Kingdom
[ ] Faith Stealer
[ ] The Last
[ ] Caerdroia
[ ] The Next Life
Also known as the Divergent Universe arc. It continues at the point Zagreus ended, with Doctor exploring a brand new universe – but there is something disturbingly wrong there. He and Charley are joined by a new companion from this universe, C’rizz.
‘Season 04’ – Adventures with Charley and C’rizz
[ ] Terror Firma
[ ] Scaredy Cat
[ ] Other Lives
[ ] Time Works
[ ] Something Inside
[ ] Memo Lane
[ ] Absolution
[ ] The Girl Who Never Was
The end of this era of Eighth Doctor audios. A goodbye to C’rizz, but a see you soon for Charley. There is a huge cliffhanger at The Girl Who Never Was that is continued on later releases – look at ‘beyond the Eighth Doctor’ if you wanna know about that, but ONLY if you are fine with being SPOILED. Again: THERE ARE SPOILERS THERE.
More from Charley and Eight
‘Season 01’ – The Further Adventures of Charlotte Pollard
[ ] The Mummy Speaks
[ ] Eclipse
[ ] The Slaying of the Writhing Mass
[ ] Heart of Orion
Specifically, this was one single released of four one-hour long stories that are set during the first story arc of Charley in the Main Range. So, certainly before Neverland but you could argue about the when specifically. I like to put it between Minuet in Hell and Invaders from Mars. But why didn’t I put it there, then? To be honest, it’s because I don’t think they fit tonally with the Main Range adventures and therefore it will break immersion if listened then. They are much, much closer to the new who style and just don’t capture the era, for me. So, listen to them as an extra to Charley story, when you miss her.
‘Season 02’ – Adventures with Charley and Audacity
[ ] The Devouring
[ ] The Great Cyber-War
[ ] Twenty-Four Doors in December
[ ] The Empty Man
[ ] Winter of the Demon
2023 saw the Doctor being joined by a new companion, lady Audacity. The first release, which included the first stories in this season, had a cliffhanger that placed them as the Doctor was still travelling with Charley, in their earlier days. So this is also a season that happens during the first story arc on the Main Range, but I wouldn’t place it there because not only it’s still happening, being published, but also because it’s better if you listen to it as its own thing already having the knowledge of how Charley’s story originally developed.
Beyond the Eighth Doctor
‘Season 01’ – Adventures with Charley
[ ] The Condemned
[ ] The Doomwood Curse
[ ] Brotherhood of the Daleks
[ ] Return of the Krotons
[ ] The Raincloud Man
[ ] Patient Zero
[ ] Paper Cuts
[ ] Blue Forgotten Planet
I already WARNED you of the SPOILERS. So, at the end of The Girl Who Never Was, the Eighth Doctor and Charley are separated. He thinks she chose of leave him, and she thinks that he is dead. She is isolated in a terrible situation and sends a distress signal, hoping that someone will rescue her. A TARDIS arrives and she thinks Eight is alive and came for her, but when she enters, she finds an unexpected face – the Sixth Doctor. And they would have a handful of adventures together, as listed here.
‘Season 02’
[ ] The Lamentation Cipher
[ ] The Shadow at the Edge of the World
[ ] The Fall of the House of Pollard
[ ] The Viryan Solution
But Charley story doesn’t end with Six. They do eventually part ways, as told in Blue Forgotten Planet, but Charley got her own spin-off that continues from there. There have been two seasons since then, but the story is unfinished: there is a third series that should be released at some point to wrap the story but we haven’t gotten any news from it for a long, long time.
‘Season 03’
[ ] Embankment Station
[ ] Ruffling
[ ] Seed of Chaos
[ ] The Destructive Quality of Life
THE CLASSICALS
‘Season 00’ – Adventures with Mary Shelley
[ ] The Company of Friends
[ ] The Silver Turk
[ ] The Witch from the Well
[ ] Army of Death
The Company of Friends is a ‘special’ Main Range release as it’s the only audio story that features the Eighth Doctor exclusive companions from other medias. It’s four half-a-hour story: the first with Benny, former companion of the Seventh Doctor. The second have Fitz and the third have Izzy. And then there is the fourth one, that shows the Eight Doctor meeting Mary Shelley. She wasn’t a companion, but would soon become one as a trilogy featuring their travels together would be released in the Main Range.
These stories happened before Eight meets Charley and honestly could be listened at any point, but I put them here, after Charley, because I do think it’s a better experience to enjoy the Eighth Doctor main range era in the order the stories were published.
INTO THE AUDIOS – THE LUCIE MILLER ERA
Beginning 2006, it all changed for Eight. His stories were probably the most popular of the Main Range – much because of the novelty of exploring the Doctor that never had anything on TV – and so he got his own range. The Main Range was now only for Doctors Five, Six and Seven, and ‘The Eighth Doctor Adventures’ began. But it was also 2006, Doctor Who was back on TV. And much because of that, this era is structured more alike to a new who season than classic.
You can jump into this era without any prior knowledge of the Eighth Doctor if you want to.
‘Season 01’ – Adventures with Lucie
[ ] Blood of the Daleks [two-parter]
[ ] Horror of Fang Rock
[ ] Immortal Beloved
[ ] Phobos
[ ] No More Lies
[ ] Human Resources [two-parter]
Notably, Horror of Glam Rock starts a ongoing arc through the seasons about Lucie’s aunt Pat.
'Extras Season’ – Continued adventures with Lucie
[ ] The Dalek Trap
[ ] The Revolution Game
[ ] The House on the Edge of Chaos
[ ] Island of the Fendahl
This was actually a release called The Further Adventures of Lucie Miller, four one-hour stories that makes a small season. It fits the tone of the era very well and it happens relatively early in her timeline, so if you want to listen to it between seasons 1 and 2, you can. The finally feature the Fendahl, a villain from Classic Who, so it’s a good idea to check out Image of the Fendahl from the Fourth Doctor era if you want more context.
‘Season 02’ – Continued adventures with Lucie
[ ] Dead London
[ ] Max Warp
[ ] Brave New Town
[ ] The Skull of Sobek
[ ] Grand Theft Cosmos
[ ] The Zygon Who Fell to Earth
[ ] Sisters of the Flame/The Vengeance of Morbius
The Zygon Who Fell to Earth is part of the aunt Pat story arc. The finale features Morbius, a villain from Classic Who, and it’s a good idea to check the Fourth Doctor story The Brain of Morbius if you want more context.
‘Season 03’ – Continued adventures with Lucie
[ ] Orbis
[ ] Hothouse
[ ] The Beast of Orlok
[ ] Wirnn Dawn
[ ] The Scapegoat
[ ] The Cannibalists
[ ] The Eight Truths/Worldwide Web
There are plenty of villains from Classic Who this season. You don’t need to watch any of their original stories to understand theses audios, and this is valid for the previous seasons too, but as I said if you want more context… You can watch The Seeds of Doom, The Ark in Space and Planet of Spiders.
‘Season 04’ – Adventures with Lucie and Tamsin
[ ] Death in Blackpool
[ ] An Earthly Child
[ ] Situation Vacant
[ ] Nervermore
[ ] The Book of Kelis
[ ] Deimos/The Resurrection of Mars
[ ] Relative Dimensions
[ ] Prisoner of the Sun
[ ] Lucie Miller/To the Death
Lucie’s era ends with a bang. Death in Blackpool is a Christmas special that wraps up the aunt Pat storyline. In An Earthly Child, the Doctor is reunited with someone from his past. Then, the rest of the season deals with Lucie and Eight’s friendship and how they are dealing with everything that happening recently, while also introducing new companion Tamsin Drew.
INTO THE AUDIOS – THE BOXSETS ERA
With the end of Lucie’s era, the publishing format shifted again. Now, the stories were released four at a time, as a boxset. These stories also build up bigger arcs, in sixteen parts, and therefore should be listened sequentially: Dark Eyes, Doom Coalition, Ravenous and Stranded. You can jump into the Eighth Doctor audios with Dark Eyes, but it’s better appreciated after listening to Lucie’s era.
‘Dark Eyes’ – Adventures with Molly and Liv
[ ] The Great War
[ ] Fugitives
[ ] Tangled Web
[ ] X and the Daleks
[ ] The Traitor
[ ] The White Room
[ ] Time’s Horizon
[ ] Eyes of the Master
[ ] The Death of Hope
[ ] The Reviled
[ ] Masterplan
[ ] Rule of the Eminence
[ ] A Life in the Day
[ ] The Monster of Montmartre
[ ] Master of the Daleks/Eye of Darkness
Liv Chenka is a character introduced in Robophobia, a Seventh Doctor story that you can listen to if you want more from her, but isn’t necessarily needed here. It’s good, though. She didn’t become a companion until reuniting with the Doctor, this time Eight, here in Dark Eyes. This season explores a temporal conflict between the Daleks, some Time Lords and an enemy from the future, the Eminence. It’s not part of the Time War, tho.
‘Doom Coalition’ – Adventures with Liv and Helen
[ ] The Eleven
[ ] The Red Lady
[ ] The Galileo Trap
[ ] The Satanic Mill
[ ] Beachhead
[ ] Scenes from her Life
[ ] The Gift
[ ] The Sonomancer
[ ] Absent Friends
[ ] The Eighth Piece/The Doomsday Chronometer
[ ] The Crucible of Souls
[ ] Ship in a Bottle
[ ] Songs of Love
[ ] The Side of Angels
[ ] Stop the Clock
Molly’s story wraps up during Dark Eyes, but Liv goes on a companion. She is then joined by Helen, introduced here in The Red Lady. This season is full of time lord political conflicts and if you have watched New Who you’ll notice River Song is a recurring character.
‘Ravenous’ – Continued adventures with Liv and Helen
[ ] Their Finest Hour
[ ] How to Make a Killing in Time Travel
[ ] World of Damnation/Sweet Salvation
[ ] Escape from Kaldor
[ ] Better Watch Out/The Fairytale of Salzburg
[ ] Seizure
[ ] Deeptime Frontier
[ ] Companion Piece
[ ] L.E.G.E.N.D.
[ ] The Odds Against
[ ] Whisper
[ ] Planet of Dust
[ ] Day of the Master
This season deals with a terrible fairy tale from the Time Lord’s past that seems to be real. Liv reunites with her sister Tula in Escape from Kaldor, and then spends one year with her before the Doctor and Helen pick her back. This is que start point to a spin-off, The Robots, which explores focusing on her and Tula during that one year. I will elaborate on it later on.
‘Stranded’ – Continued adventures with Liv and Helen, joined by Tania and Andy
[ ] Lost Property
[ ] Wild Animals
[ ] Must-See TV
[ ] Divine Intervation
[ ] Dead Time
[ ] UNIT Dating
[ ] Baker Street Irregulars
[ ] The Long Way Round
[ ] Patience
[ ] Twisted Folklore
[ ] Snow
[ ] What Just Happened
[ ] Crossed Lines
[ ] Get Andy
[ ] The Keys of Baker Street
[ ] Best Year Ever
Stranded picks up where Ravenous ended: the TARDIS have been damaged and now the Doctor, Liv and Helen are stuck for one year on Earth while it heals. And so, they start their lives in a house the Doctor used to own in Baker Street, but are met by unexpected neighbors. This season starts very slice-of-live/sitcom-like, kinda, but then evolves in a temporal conflict.
‘Season 05’ – Continued adventures with Liv and Helen
[ ] Paradox of the Daleks
[ ] The Dalby Spook
[ ] Here Lies Drax
[ ] The Love Vampires
[ ] Albie’s Angels
[ ] Birdsong
[ ] Lost Hearts
[ ] Slow Beasts
It’s the current era. Big Finish is still releasing Liv and Helen stories, but they are not the only ongoing story arc for Eight (see: Audacity; and the Time War). However, things changed a bit. They are still released in boxsets – with three one-hour stories rather than four -, but there is no sixteen-parts epic anymore. They are just standalone stories that starts where Stranded ends.
Spin-off – The Robots
[ ] The Robots of Life
[ ] The Sentient
[ ] Love Me Not
[ ] The Robots of War
[ ] Toos and Paul
[ ] Do No Harm
[ ] The Mystery of Sector 13
[ ] Circuit Breaker
[ ] A Matter of Conscience
[ ] Closed Loop
[ ] Off Grid
[ ] The Janus Deception
[ ] The Enhancement
[ ] Machines Like Us
[ ] Kaldor Nights
[ ] Force of Nature
[ ] Face to Face
[ ] The Final Hour
As I said in the Ravenous section, there is a spin-off about Liv reuniting with her sister Tula that is set during Escape form Kaldor. They are both from Kaldor, a planet from the Classic series, and to better appreciate what this spin-off is doing I recommend watching the Fourth Doctor story The Robots of Death. And, why not, listen to Robophobia, which itself is a sequel to The Robots of Death.
INTO THE AUDIOS – THE TIME WAR
And of course, we have stories with Eight set during the Time War. We can divide it into eras: the first four boxsets, when he is travelling with the new companion Bliss; and the current releases, with him travelling with Alex – listen to Lucie Miller season 4 for more context – and Cass. Yes, Cass from the Night of the Doctor. How that’s possible given the circumstances of that story have not yet been fully explained, but of course it’s safe to assume it’s the War’s fault.
‘Season 01’ – Adventures with Bliss
[ ] The Starship of Theseus
[ ] Echoes of War
[ ] The Conscript
[ ] One Life
[ ] The Lords of Terror
[ ]  Planet of the Ogrons
[ ] In the Garden of Death
[ ] Jonah
‘Season 02’ – Continued adventures with Bliss
[ ] State of Bliss
[ ] The Famished Lands
[ ] Fugitive in Time
[ ] The War Valeyard
[ ] Palindrome
[ ] Dreadshade
[ ] Restoration of the Daleks [two-parter]
The Valeyard is a villain from Classic Who. You’ll get more out of The War Valeyard with more context – so watch season 23, Trial of a Time Lord, or simply know that he is a “version” of the Doctor from the future that encapsulates everything bad and evil that exists in the Doctor.
‘Season 02’ – Adventures with Alex and Cass
[ ] Meanwhile, Elsewhere
[ ] Verpertine
[ ] Previously, Next Time [two-parter]
[ ] Nowhere, Never
[ ] The Road Untravelled
[ ] Cass-cade
[ ] Borrow or Rob
OTHERS
The stories ‘Day of the Vashta Nerada’, ‘The Sontaran Ordeal’ and ‘The Silent Priest’, all of them featuring monsters from New Who, are set during the Time War. However, the Doctor is travelling alone and they are all standalone stories.
There are plenty of ‘short trips’, short stories set in the Doctor Who universe, featuring the Eight Doctor. Both in prose and in audio. I did not include them in this guide, and they are not really essential, but they can be good. So, listen or read them if you ever miss a companion or the Eighth Doctor.
ABOUT THIS GUIDE
I will be updating the guide as new stories are released. I will also do one for each classic Doctor, at least, at some point.

After having a discussion elsewhere about Ed's response and the mirroring of Ed's mom-Ed-Ed's dad and Stede-Ed-Izzy and Ed's trauma response of becoming selectively mute for a short time. It reminded me of another character who became selectively mute (pointedly after his mother's death — both times!) The one and only Dean Winchester.
Let's start with Ed.
During the flashback scenes leading up to the Kraken killing Ed's dad, we see Ed sitting in between his parents, breathing heavy, covering his ears, and he is quiet/mute. It feels as if he is fighting off a panic attack. This is the first time we see him selectively mute due to trauma.
Tumblr media
This is edited alongside Ed's panic attack at the Kraken during the fuckery in 1x6. He gets low to the ground (just like his younger self) and crawls into a separate room, crawling into a bathtub and covering himself with Stede's robe — something soft.
Next up we have a direct parallel to that first scene of younger Ed. The blocking and framing are exactly the same : when Izzy challenges Stede to a duel. Stede's on one side, Ed in the middle, and Izzy on the other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Stede's representation of his mother is not literal but refers to Ed being soft and wants softness. Just like Izzy's representation of his father is not literal but refers to the consistent pattern of slightly older abusive father figures Ed is surrounded with (also Hornighost and even Pop-Pop is a callback to it.)
Sidenote: Ed's mother talks about how that life isn't for them: we're not meant for fine things. Stede response is the exact opposite when he sees the red silk. Ed wears fine things well. He shows Ed all of his soft things right away. They switch clothes, they go to the party (it can be assumed that the purple outfit is from Stede's wardrobe), and he shows Ed that he is sophisticated. Ed can embrace that side of himself comfortably, and wear those fine things, something he has had to shut out before.
But back on track: Ed goes mute in times when he trauma is triggered.
Another parallel: Ed in the window sill with a bite of light softness behind him, crying during these moments.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now let's talk about Dean!
After Dean's mom dies for the first time when he was four years old, he was selectively mute for months. This is not shown on screen, but it's the first time we know about Dean's trauma response.
In only the third episode of the show, Dean connects to a kid during the case — this kid is also selectively mute from trauma he saw. Dean bonds to him through his own shared trauma.
Tumblr media
In true Supernatural fashion, characters do not remain dead, and Mary Winchester is resurrected. When she dies the second time, the audience gets to see Dean's reaction. It is an intimate, heartbreaking moment. Dean can sometimes react in anger to things, and anger can include yelling, loudness. But this time, the reaction is different. He becomes selectively mute and takes a minute to feel everything (just like when Ed isolates himself) he heads into the woods, gets low on the ground and cries.
Tumblr media
We see this same reaction in Despair after Castiel's testament. Dean sits on the ground, ignoring Sam's call, covers his face and cries in despair.
Tumblr media
Both Ed and Dean have very similar trauma responses, while each character is different, there are certain elements that are parallel (growing up too fast, forced to be hard but at their center are actually soft, etc) and especially how they go selectively mute in times of high trauma.

IMAGINE If they bring Sam Bellamy, a pirate of legend who should have died during a shipwreck who miraculously survived his trip, in s3 of OFMD?
Show that he is essentially a ghost coming back to life, a dead man walking now with the upper hand, living each day like it's his last?
-AND IZZY REMAINS DEAD-
I would just scream.

It's a time-honoured tradition- every time Sam comes across Izzy (and Ed) in their travels, he asks Izzy to marry him. And every time, Izzy turns him down.
At this point, Sam is asking more for the sake of it than any belief Izzy will ever say yes, a remnant of childhood dedication touched with 30 years of heartbreak and regret- though even now, a small part of him still holds out hope. Sam's promises have only got more extravagant over the years, from a job as his first mate, to a captaincy, a fleet at his command, a whole fucking island if that's what Izzy wants- but he knows it isn't though, not really. If Izzy was ever going to agree to marry him, to leave his life and go with Sam, it wouldn't be for anything Sam could offer him. Izzy never did care for flashy shows of wealth, for a ship or to be captain. The only thing that ever mattered to him was loyalty given, and loyalty shown in return.
It all comes to a head after Stede left and came back, after Izzy lost a toe, lost his leg. Sam hasn't seen him since before things with Ed started to really slide off the rails, before stress permanently set into the lines of Izzy’s face. So, when he sees a dishevelled man with a hoof for a leg in a no-name port, he doesn't even consider the idea that he might know him. It's only when he turns towards him, and Sam catches a glance at those oh too familiar tattoos, he realises this is Izzy, his Izzy, that stands before him.
Knowing Izzy's discomfort with pity, he doesn't treat him any differently than he would in years gone by, positioning himself in Izzy's line of sight before approaching and sweeping him up into a bone crushing hug.
“Israel-goddamn-Hands!” he exclaims, as Izzy grumbles back a begrudging “Samuel-fucking-Bellamy”, a tradition almost as old as their friendship itself. Izzy might not hug him back, but he can’t keep the corner of his mouth from twitching, just for a second.
(If Sam holds Izzy a little tighter and a little longer than usual, well. That's his business)
By the time Sam lets go, most of the crew has appeared in the town square, drawn in by the commotion. They may have given Izzy his leg and welcomed him as one of them, but still there’s an underlying tension, with nobody quite ready to set aside everything that happened before the Kraken. Seeing him cosying up to an unknown man sets everyone on edge, unsure whether to come to their first mate’s aid, or to assume that they've been betrayed once again.
When Ed sees that the yelling was Sam, his hand goes tense where it's held in Stede's. He knows the routine, has seen it more times than he can count, but as he watches them part he realises that this is the first time in a long time he's unsure of what Izzy's response will be.
Knowing that something’s different, knowing that Izzy's feeling vulnerable already, Sam doesn't go for the same flashy proposal he’s been giving for years. He doesn't promise Izzy the world, he doesn't cause a scene (or, any more of a scene than he already has, anyway). He looks at the fractured man in front of him, takes his face in his hands, and says the exact same thing to him he said when they were little more than boys. “Israel, I have to ask you. I know what you'll say, but I have to try. Come with me. Marry me and sail away with me. I'll keep you safe”
And Izzy… hesitates. He glances over at Ed, at Stede, and says to Sam “...We’re staying in port for a week. Ask me again then”
That's the moment Sam knows there is something deeply, horribly, wrong. He's not just looking at an Izzy who got seriously injured in a fight and is struggling to cope, this is something so much bigger than that- and that Ed has something to do with it. Izzy wouldn't even be considering leaving if he didn't. Whether it was negligence or something more sinister, Sam doesn't yet know, but he intends to find out.
#i feel like the little paragraph about the crew is real clunky and out of place but i wanted some kind of establishment of where those#dynamics are at. its important that the crew is something for izzy to consider in his decision; but also that their relationship isnt so#solid he would stay for them alone; yknow?#im sorta aiming for a s2e5 era but like. early in those themes. he cant be all sorted yet i need him to be struggling#anyway this is part of a much larger scenario in my head that im never ever doing anything with but i wrote THIS bit in a daze in like. jun#and i got thinking about it again and i think?? it holds its own as a 'hey think about THIS' snippet. idk you decide#youre welcome to interpret this as solo bellhands but in my head it Has morphed into sam/izzy/ed/stede#because i cant not put edizzy in things any more. izzy has two hands#i also think the comedy potential of one of your boyfriends HATING your other boyfriend is gold. 10/10 dynamic#stede is mostly along for the ride in this but also i think they need him#aaaaand. the sam/ed bracket i think can only be closed in exceptional circumstances. i think they 'hate' each other too much#...which is WHY someones getting kidnapped!!! yay#anyway its all irrelevant because ill never write it out. i can do silly chill things but thatll require work#nyxtalks#ofmd#our flag means death#izzy hands#israel hands#sam bellamy#bellhands#i wanna also say. the general concept of repeated sam proposals has been floating around my head forever#it used to be a more silly thing like i referenced at the start but. s2 gave me angsty feelings i guess#i cant not have izzy have feelings for ed right now which inherently adds layers to Any bellhands scenarios i think.#but yeah. its a Classic Bellhands vibe for me. sam seeing izzy at sea or on shore and asking him to marry him (again)#i like to do this with jackie too. i think i just want that man to be obnoxiously desired#(theres also layers of my personal hornigold era lore built into this but i hope it holds up without u knowing it. tldr. sam lost izzy by#being an idiot n fumbling the bag. thats what matters. izzy went with ed and sams been trying to fix it ever since)#i probably should have readmore'd this but i didnt think it was Quite long enough. or had a good break point. sorry <3

teen dad sam monroe and reader would definitely argue when it came to naming the baby. i’m imagining it like that one scene from glee with quinn and puck, it would be a funny imagine.
Quinn: you wanna name our daughter Jack Daniel’s? she’s a girl!
Puck: Fine, whatever, Jackie Daniel’s
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Author's note: it's so sam coded I fell in love
You were sitting across from Sam in your cramped, barely-put-together living room, surrounded by baby name books and crumpled scraps of paper covered in doodles and crossed-out lists. Naming your baby girl had become an all-out battlefield—and Sam was determined that his names were the best.
“Okay, hear me out,” Sam said, leaning forward with this excited gleam in his eyes you kept seeing for what felt like hours now. “How about… Raven Storm?”
You just stared at him, pressing your fingers to your sore temples. “Sam, she’s a baby girl, not a rock band.”
He shrugged, unfazed. “Yeah, but it’s a strong name. Memorable, you know? Like, people would be talking about Raven Storm for years.”
You sighed, trying to keep your patience. “Sam… please. She’s a girl.”
“Oh, okay, I get it, I get it,” He shrugged, leaning back in his chair. “Alright, then Maximus Danger Monroe.” he grinned proudly
You stared at him, raising an eyebrow. “Maximus Danger?” you echoed in judgmental tone
“Exactly. It’s strong, it’s powerful, it's cool. Imagine her introducing herself—no one’s gonna mess with Maximus Danger.”
you bore your eyes on him, already tired (yet surprised) of all the names he had brought up over the last hours “What? It’s amazing,” he insisted, folding his arms with a pout. “You don’t get it, these are strong names! They’ll protect her.”
“She’s a baby, not an action hero!” you replied, surpassingly trying not to laugh at his pout, his incredibly devoted expression. Yet, it's meant to be a girl, not an alien. "We are the ones who should protect her, not some weird name"
Sam rolled his eyes. “Fine, if you don’t like ‘Danger,’ maybe something more classic. Chardonnay.” He smirked, clearly testing you now
You sighed, counting to five in your head to ease down. “Oh my god.." you sighed "Sam,” you began again, slowly (this time), to make sure it gets right into his head “You want to name our daughter after wine?”
“No, okay, I’m serious!” he insisted “What about… Scarlett Raven Monroe?”
You shot him an exasperated look. “Sam…”
“Phoenix Blaze?” he added, trying to up the ante. “It’s unique!”
You buried your face in your hands, half-pleading. “Please, just one normal name. Something cute, simple. Like Lily, or Emma…”
He scoffed. “Lily? She’s gonna have enough flowers in her life. I’m telling you, we’re gonna regret not picking something that stands out.”
“Fine,” you said with a long sigh, trying not to smile as you leaned over and squeezed his hand. There was no way you'd fight him about the name - not with his stubborn character “We’ll work on a compromise then”
Sam smirked. “Good. I knew you’re smarter than this. But, you know, Phoenix is still on the table…" to which you shot him a glare

I've had the silliest idea for an AU and crossover: someone (the Crew? Fang? Stede? Ed *and* Stede? Sam?) hires Lockwood and Co. for a haunting and it turns out that the place is haunted but also a lot of it is just Izzy hiding out post-surviving his death and not knowing how to tell them/that person and thinking now it's too late to say anything because they/that person has moved on (or they seem to, at least)
I'm imagining Izzy going to Sam's big mansion/manor, but Sam is away on business (busy trying to pretend the love of his life hasn't just died, effectively killing any chance of reunion between them except beyond the grave)
So Izzy just slips in and starts living in dark corners/secret passages/attics/cellars while recovering from his injuries, "stealing" food and supplies while trying not to get caught by the servants, and he thinks he will tell Sam everything once he comes back but now he still needs a safe place to live in and he is afraid the servants are going to freak out without Sam there.
So he waits for Sam to come back and when he does, he gets cold feet, it's been so long after all, what tells him he will be welcome? So he just stays hidden a couple more days, thinking he is going to tell him anyday now and it's going to be ok, he will explain
But Izzy observes him, and from his pov, it's obvious Sam has moved on, he seems to be aware Izzy has died, but he doesn't seem particularly affected. In fact, he seems incredibly busy and taking many business proposals and always working and when he isn't working he is smiling (because there is always a servant present and Sam doesn't want them to worry) and being pleasant
So Izzy stays hidden. He doesn't know what else he can do. He doesn't know where else to go, and it doesn't seem fair to disrupt Sam's life, but he is also still not fully recovered so he can't high-tail it just yet.
But one day, Sam inadvertently brings back a Source. It's an inconspicuous vase he was given by a client and which he displays in front of a wall, actually a wall where there is a secret passage behind, one that Izzy frequently uses.
And so manifestations starts in earnest, and the servants become increasingly nervous because they've been thinking they were being haunted for a while (because it's impossible for Izzy to stay completely silent all the time, and he does most of his moving at night when there are less people who could catch sight of him).
In response, Sam hires Lockwood and Co. He has heard they were a good agency and he doesn't want to bother with the bigger ones who have already plenty of money anyway. But Izzy isn't aware as Sam went directly to their agency to hire them.
Shenanigans ensues as the Lockwood team pursue one real ghost and one human being they think is a ghost (tbh Izzy kind of looks like one at this point). At some point during the night, they see both the apparition and Izzy vanishing behind the same wall at different entry points (it's one of those panels that completely swivels, so in the darkness it looks like Izzy went through the wall)
They investigate, find the secret passages (Izzy safely fled to the highest point of the attic in yet another hidden location) and come to two conclusions:
- there are two ghosts ergo two Sources
- one is the vase, the other one is very likely to be this old ring they found behind a wall in the secret passage a few paces away from the vase, and which may have been lost a long time ago, but with the other Source being so closed, it might have awaken it
They show both to Sam who explains he got the vase as a gift for a business deal he closed, and he pretends not to recognize the other (but his heart stops when he sees it because it's definitely the ring he gave Israel all those years and years ago)
Lockwood and co are like "no problem, we will dispose of these for you, it's included in our fee", and Sam immediately jumps up and say "No!" in an instant of panic, then he calms down and explains he would like to keep one, ("those things are so interesting, couldn't they provide him with some sort of ghost-glass locket, perhaps he could keep the ring, it's small enough, he can always keep it safe in a silver box")
The trio is like "hm, weird but he is an eccentric wealthy man so ok, his funeral if something goes wrong" synchronized shrug
So they give the ring back to Sam.
Sam, until that point, is barely holding it together, it's exhausting to pretend everything is fine when all he wants to do is curl up and cry all he can somewhere away, somewhere far away.
He keeps staring at the ring through the ghost glass locket, and always carries it on his person, hidden, getting it out when no one can see (except for Izzy who is still watching)
And one night, it gets too much, Sam can't bear it, he needs to see Izzy. He knows it's crazy, he knows it's dangerous, but he feels ready. He is ready to go because they were never meant to be separated, and if he's gotta die, it might as well be from being ghost touched in a last embrace with Izzy, with his one true love.
So one night, he sits in his library, he's got a glass of wine, Israel's favorite vinyl from before they separated is playing and he sets down the locket in front of him. He opens it.
He finally openly calls to Izzy, breaking down, telling him he wants to be reunited, even if it can only ever be beyond the grave. He feels a sudden draft of cold air swishing through the room and thinks Izzy is there. He knows he won't be able to see him, he is too old, he's lost his Sight a long time ago, but he thinks he will still be able to feel him and that's fine with him, that's enough. He knows he can't ask for more.
So he is in complete shock when he sees Izzy advancing towards him.
Sam slowly opens his arms, waiting for him, he is ready... and then immediately gets slapped in the face.
He is in shock (mouth closing and opening like a goldfish).
Meanwhile Izzy is furious: "you were going to let yourself die?!", "for stupid little old me?!", "what on earth! fuck's sake Sam!", "what about your life? you think I would want you dead because I'm dead?!"
Sam gets the scolding of a lifetime until he recovers enough to process what's happening and reacts. Soon enough they're bickering because "YOU'VE BEEN ALIVE? ALL THIS TIME? WHAT THE HELL?", "stupid little old you?! you're the love of my life!"
They keep at it a bit until they each get it out of their system and calm down enough to explain what they thought and eventually all is well. Sam draws a warm bath for Izzy, bring him to his bedroom and does not let go of him for the entire night.
Sam has a lot to explain to his staff, a couple of them quit because they think he's gone mad and they're still not entirely convinced Izzy isn't some sort of paranormal entity, but apart from that it goes well. Mostly, the rest of the staff is relieved, because they kept hearing noises after the intervention of Lockwood and Co and thought they were all slowly headed for their early demise (but Sam is a fair boss and the pay is good so they didn't want to quit).
Sam stops taking on so many business offers and slows down, he tries not to go out of the country too often because he wants to spend as much time with Izzy as he can. Izzy can't believe he is really going to be able to spend the rest of his days living Sam. They're very much still madly in love and Sam has not lost one iota of his romantic heart.
Bonus scene: Izzy being randomly poked by a rapier when he accidentally crosses paths with one of the Lockwood and Co agents (probably George in a shadowy corner of the national archives). Of course, Lucy and Lockwood both completely refuse to believe him about it.
...Until they get an invitation to Sam and Izzy's wedding that is, "for a job beyond well done"
The end.

Sam coming back into Izzy's life after so many years, and Izzy doesn't laugh anymore, he doesn't sing anymore, he barely smiles. and it breaks Sam's heart, but he loves the Izzy that scowls and yells and storms around, too. and he'll help him remember how to do the other stuff if he wants

Spotted at Work
Summary: Dean cheated on Reader who is a Lightwood. They date Simon and eventually bump into Dean again
Trigger Warnings: cheating
Dean's P.O.V
I glanced down at the text for the 6th time, 'you're making a mistake and should be ashamed of yourself', of course Sammy wouldn't understand. Y/N is the love of my life and although we've only been together for a few months, I would love to spend the rest of my life with her. However, she doesn't know I'm a hunter, therefore I have to break her heart so she doesn't get sucked into this life, or worse. Killed. That's how I found myself on a Thursday evening, at a bar, the key to her little apartment in my pocket, feeling heavier than it should. She had texted me saying she'd be back by 9pm, which means I have about an hour to find someone to take back. Why? Because I need her to hate me and break up with me to save her life, she's not meant for the hunter life. Before I change my mind, I notice a woman checking me out. I finish my shot and head over to her, I know I need to get her back at the apartment way before Y/N arrives so she can find us in bed together, although I'm not even sure I'll be able to even get it up, Y/N has ruined me for everyone else.
Y/N's P.O.V.
I have to tell Dean about who I am. I have to tell him about not only the shadowworld but that I'm also a Shadowhunter, and not just any Shadowhunter, I'm a Lightwood. I can do this.  As I'm driving, I get a call from Jace, answering, "hello" I asked annoyed. "Are you coming back soon? Can't have you missing the wedding. Magnus and Alec want to have it by next week" he says all in one breath. "Yeah I'll be back, I need to go now" and I hang up, maybe I can bring Sam and Dean to the wedding. As I walk into the apartment I was renting, I felt something was very wrong. I took out my stele and drew on a stealth rune before putting it back away and taking out my seraph blade. I noticed the door was unlocked and walked in, wondering if Dean was home or if he was in danger. As I walked into the living room I heard it, Dean was grunting in pleasure, as well as another woman moaning, in that moment I also heard my heart shatter. I walked into my room and there he was, on top of her. All I could do was stand there, due to my rune activated, it took them about 3 minutes before the woman noticed me and screamed, Dean turning to look at me, unfazed. I unfroze and went to pack my small suitcase, "please don't stop on my account, let me just pack up and leave. Just make sure to leave by the end of the week when my lease is up" I tried to stay strong, the anger evident in my voice but no tears spilling. It wasn't until I was done packing, that I noticed the woman had pushed Dean off and got her clothes, apologizing, I could tell she felt bad because she didn't know he was taken, and Dean, he only sat on the bed. I turned to look at him, again he was unfazed, then I turned to the girl and simply nodded at her and walked out. It wasn't until I was in my car that I let the tears fall. I texted Sam asking if he knew and his only response was 'I'm sorry'. Well fuck.
6 months later
I had been honest with my siblings, they all wanted to go and find the Winchesters to give Dean a piece of their minds but I told them to leave it, that I was done trying to date, Alec and Jace were completely happy with that. Now though there was a knock on my bedroom door, assuming it was one of my siblings I opened it, it was the daylighter, Simon. "Hi Simon" I said smiling, he was adorkable. I had properly met him at the wedding as I was with my father and Max at the LA institute when him and Clary had first found out about the Shadow World. Then I studied mundanes up close and that was how I ended up spending a few months dating Dean. "Hi Y/N, I was hoping to ask you a question" he asked looking down and getting extremely shy, how cute. I nodded, "would you like to go on a date with me? I asked for Alec, Jace, and Izzy's permission before asking!! I even asked your mom" he quickly spills out, I can't help but giggle. Since mom was deruned, she had begun to grow as a person and even reconnected with us, I was more of the forgotten child growing up, with Alec being the perfect soldier, Jace being the perfect son, Izzy being the troublemaker and Max being the baby, I was simply average and lost to the shadows. "Of course!" I told Simon, he smiled, I could see his fangs poking out. I figured since it's been about 6 months since everything with Dean, I was ready to go back out into the world, plus Simon was afraid of all my siblings so I knew he wouldn't do anything to hurt me unless he wanted to get killed again.
4 months later
Dating Simon for the past 4 months has been such an amazing experience. Clary eventually got her memories back, and was back with Jace, who has asked Luke for his permission to propose. As for Izzy, she finally got the courage to ask out Maia and they've been dating for about a month but I can sense that they're meant to be.
"Jace are you sure this is the place?" I whisper as we walk towards an abandoned warehouse. There had been sightings of a few rogue vampires, about 5 of them but tonight we were all on patrol and meant to take them to Raphael's clan. It was Alec, Jace, Izzy, Clary and me. "Yes this is where Overbeck said they were spotted entering yesterday" he grumbles. We all begin to activate our stealth runes before getting any closer, I get out my sword, which is attachable to the gear I've got. I also double check my boots and ensure I have my seraph and stele. We all look at each other and notice everyone has their respective runes activated and their preferred weapons in hand. As we walk into the warehouse, the first thing I notice is the Winchesters tied up in the middle. They both turn and see us, confused to see me. As soon as they notice us, so do the vampires and we begin to work.
As we finished and got them all down, Clary created a portal. "I'll take them and you guys figure out what to do with these guys" says Raphael when Alec came back from entering to let the Clan know we had the vampires. As him and a few others took the rogues, Jace and Izzy began to untie Sam and Dean. "Uhh guys, these are Sam and Dean, the ones I told you about like 10 months ago" I state, nervous my brothers and sister will actually kill the Winchesters. Izzy and Jace stop untying and quickly retie them, "we'll just leave them here" Izzy states and her and Jace walk away from them, "WHAT?" Sam asks confused. "Uh yeah my siblings are a little overprotective" I look at the brothers, not really caring if they do stay there, after all Dean did cheat and Sam did know and didn't tell me. Suddenly there's a portal and out walk Simon and Magnus, oh no. "What exactly did you see" Alec asks, always the diplomat, making sure mundanes aren't aware of the shadow world, that's why Mags and Si are here, to erase their memories. "They were vampires, we hunt them" Sam starts, getting ready to do the whole spiel, while Dean doesn't stop staring at me. "Oh they're mundane hunters, I wasn't aware there were still some existing" Magnus says, delighted. "Rogue downworlders can evade the clave for a while and sometimes in being too cautious of the Shadowhunters, they make themselves easy to be spotted by mundane hunters" Magnus explains to us. "Wait, you mean to tell us, we grow up training to protect the mundanes,  and yet there's mundanes stupid enough, that aren't born with the Sight, and go and look for rogue downworlders?" Jace asks, flabbergasted. "I've read about these I also know there's some who kill innocent downworlders, which then the clave does have to get because they know the downworld will fight and it could have broken the accords" Alec says. "You dated a mundane hunter and didn't know" Izzy finally asks me and I tell her I had no idea. "Wait you dated one of these guys" Simon asked, I could tell he was getting insecure, he felt the Winchesters were very good looking. "Unfortunately" is all I mutter and I can tell Dean looks heartbroken. "Ok well, Sherman, you're the vampire, encanto them into forgetting" Magnus tells Simon, who looks alarmed, he still struggles with the encanto. "Vampire? Y/N let us out and we can kill them and then take you to safety" Dean says, starting to struggle with how tight my siblings tied them. I can't help but laugh, "you want to kill my boyfriend and think I'll go with you?" I ask as I grab Si's hand and interlock our fingers together, I can sense the surprise in him, clearly thinking I'd want to be with Dean over him, this poor boy has serious self worth issues but it's ok I'll continue to love him enough for the both of us. The Winchesters look surprised, "Y/N he's a monster, are they all vampires? Did you get turned into one?" Sam begins to question. "One, how dare you call my boyfriend a monster! Simon is so fucking handsome, funny, intelligent, adorkable, and respectful. And he's not a fucking cheater! Also two, out of this group, he's the only vampire, we're all part of the shadow world, one is a warlock, and the rest of us are shadowhunters, we spend our entire lives dedicated to keeping mundanes such as yourselves safe so how about we let you go and you go on and live normal mundane lives while we do our jobs and actually protect you from demons and anyone else that goes rogue" I say, absolutely pissed that they would try to demean my family like that. I just squeeze Si's hand and look at my family, "let's just go home and leave them tied up". Magnus senses how hurt I am and opens a portal to straight to the institute and everyone walks through. As Simon and I are about to walk through I turn to look at the Winchesters one last time, I can sense that Sam managed to untie himself and before he begins to untie Dean, I tell them my final goodbye and to try not to look for us or there will be consequences.

bucky had heard about madripoor . it was a lawless land where most criminals and villains alike were protected by their lack of extradition laws . the details of the place are fuzzy , like a dream he can't quite grasp now .
when his informant had brought it up , he feels he's heard it someplace before - in memories he'd rather not touch nor glean . the winter soldier must have known more about it , judging by the familiarity . bucky has to remind himself those days are over . it was something he had told dr. raynor , the agents involved in his case , but it was really more for himself . he had worked so hard to make amends . he'd done the work . he'd gone to all his mandatory therapy sessions . he answered all of their questions. " yes , i no longer have violent thoughts . "
" no , i don't have nightmares . "
after everything , bucky should be content . he has a second shot at a life he never thought he'd survive to see . they had set him up in an apartment in brooklyn . he'd picked up a stray cat and named her alpine .
on some days , he goes to the local bar that used to be a laundromat back in the day . on others , he stays home . during these days , he tries not to think about steve rogers , tries not to imagine what life he lived with peggy carter , tries not to hold his late best friend to a forgotten promise he made years and years ago .
people tell him steve deserved to be happy . where those words fell , bucky only saw how he failed to deliver that joy to his lifelong companion . he saw all his shortcomings , his mistakes - the way he had been cobbled back together after project insight had gone to shit .
of course , he'd left . anyone would have , given the choice .
most days , bucky wishes the nagging voice in the back of his head would just shut the hell up .
the voice , however , is the least of the former assassin's worries . what he is and should be concerned about are the urges . a few months back , he'd tried his hand at a date . it had been leah's idea , the brunette server at izzy with the kind eyes . she'd set him up with a friend of hers . bucky was rusty , but he recalls the motions enough to get through .
when they return to his place , he's alarmed when everything is painfully soft . there's too little of everything , not enough pain to justify the pleasure . all the while , a different voice sits in the back of his head , almost taunting him for trying . bucky returns the kisses , but they sit in awkward silence the rest of the night . he blocks her number and never calls again .
in time , bucky realizes normalcy is something he can never achieve . it is just not something that people like him deserve , not where they belong . the isolation is gnawing , and the revelations immense .
bucky has no one . nothing . no place to belong . sam could care less , and so could the world . why try so hard to work at something for no audience and no purpose ?
it's three parts desperation and one part resentment that finally drags him to the sweltering southeast asian heat . brock rumlow's file was stowed away in his backpack , alongside bare essentials . his best kept secret , one that no one knew he held onto - his last handler , and the one he remembered all too well . the enhanced couldn't explain all the 'why's for his decision , but he knew he wanted answers to questions he couldn't even fathom .
his emptiness convinces him that rumlow would have the answers .
the former commander's sidearm sits heavy against bucky's hip as he wanders into the crowded bar . he scans the ragtag crowd , before his gaze falls on the familiar silhouette .
his whole world tilts .
